ST. LOUIS -The officer shot this morning is now out of the hospital. The 39-year-old sergeant with 16 years on the force was shot at Maryland and Euclid in the Central West End just before 5 a.m. Police Chief Sam Dotson calls it an ambush attack. “The officers there, hired by the residents, hired by the businesses of that area for visibility, he was doing his job, he did what he was supposed to, and he was targeted today,” he says. Police are searching for four suspects, including the shooter who covered his face with a black bandana. They got away in a gray, newer-model Ford Focus. Meantime, a man stood near the shooting scene with a sign that read, “HOW DOES IT FEEL?” Dotson said the officer gave a denoscription of the shooter who was chased on foot as an African-American male between ages 18 and 22, 5’7″ or 5’8″ with a thin build and some facial hair. |
