"At the state hospital, there is no minimum timeframe for which we know he will be there, so there's no security for us," Janet Peterson said. "Ryan's wife is feeling so unsafe that she has moved out of the country because of how this is going to go." Janet is especially upset that the evaluations of White's mental state when he committed the crime were not done until more than a year after the stabbing. The Petersons say they will always remember Ryan as a hilarious, loving, IT genius. "I think the best way to describe him is just incredibly supportive," Kurt Peterson said. Hosford, 27, attempted to escape by jumping back into the rear passenger side of the car, but the 280-pound thug allegedly ripped open the door, according to an arrest affidavit viewed by The Post. A physical altercation broke out between Hosford and Sagesse and the suspect was captured on security camera making a repeated stabbing motion into the vehicle, police said. Sagesse got out of the car and was confronted by Hosford’s male friend, who had returned from picking up some items from his apartment. Police found Hosford, who was unresponsive, inside the car. A Florida Checkers employee allegedly shot and killed a customer in a fight over missing mayonnaise, according to authorities.
Fast food server Elijah Mackey, 23, allegedly shot 40-year-old customer Wesley Robertson late Wednesday after Robertson complained about his order at the drive-thru window in a branch in Kissimmee, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said. A witness told deputies the incident was sparked by missing packets of mayo, according to his arrest warrant. Mackey allegedly climbed out of the drive-thru window, called Robertson a slew of insults, then pulled out a gun and shot him in the chest, the warrant said. Robertson then collapsed and struck his head on the restaurant wall, later succumbing to his injuries, according to the warrant. Mackey allegedly fled the scene on foot before he was found and cuffed under the stairwell of the Celebration Suites hotel, the document said. When police apprehended him, Mackey allegedly told police, “I have a gun on me” and asked, “Is dude OK?” several times, records show. The teenager told investigators he was in Rowe’s classroom at Explorer K-8 in Spring Hill on Tuesday last week for a planning period when he asked the teacher if he could see a photo they’d previously taken together in the classroom. As he scrolled through the phone, Rowe would “stop on photos of what the student believed was Rowe’s genitalia,” according to the sheriff’s office. Rowe then allegedly told the student to take the phone to the bathroom and take pictures of his own genitalia, which the boy refused. The teacher confirmed to police that he had pictures of his genitalia on his phone but declined to say whether he showed those images to the student, police said. Rowe was arrested at his Spring Hill home and charged with showing obscene material to a minor and unlawful use of a two-way device — both felonies in Florida. Police notified the Department of Homeland Security and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) of Rowe’s arrest to obtain a detainer, or immigrant hold, “which starts the deportation process” once he’s turned over to ICE, according to the sheriff’s office. A killer has finally been identified in the shocking rape and murder of a Utah teenager that baffled investigators for 40 years, according to police and reports.
Christine Gallegos, 18, was last seen alive hitchhiking to downtown Salt Lake City on her way to work on May 15, 1985. Her body was discovered early the next morning by the driver of a passing car, according to reports from the Salt Lake Tribune at the time. Investigators found a grisly scene in the neighborhood now known as Ballpark. Gallegos had been beaten, raped, stabbed and shot twice in the head. She reportedly put up a fierce struggle against her attacker before she was killed, police said. “She left a blood trail up to the gutter of Jefferson Street,” Detective Cordon Parks said at a press conference Thursday announcing that the cold case was solved. With the help of good old-fashioned detective work and cutting-edge genetic technology, police announced that the likely killer who evaded them for decades is Ricky Lee Stallworth — an Air Force vet who went on to marry five times and have three children before his death in 2023. Stallworth, 27 at the time of Gallegos’ murder, was an airman at Hill Air Force Base in May 1985 when the teenage girl was killed. Before his death, Stallworth was reportedly known to police for his alleged interactions with prostitutes along State Street, the commercial strip that runs through downtown Salt Lake City, in the last two years of his life. During the press conference last week, Parks posthumously dubbed him a “State Street stalker” for his late-night rendezvous. Even though he was married, Stallworth was known to leave his house in the dead of night and come back early in the morning, police said. He’d never tell his wife where he had been or what he had been doing, according to Parks. Stallworth, whose name never came up in the different rounds of investigations into the murder over the years, died of natural causes in July 2023, so investigators were never able to question him — a frustrating prospect for detectives. “I wish we could have got to him before he died,” Parks said. A “reprehensible” Westchester County youth basketball coach was charged with molesting a young girl on at least two occasions over a five-month period, prosecutors said Thursday.
Dwayne Murray, 62, who coached the Mount Vernon Junior Knights basketball team, was ordered held without bail after being hit with a felony charge of sexual conduct against a child, Westchester District Attorney Susan Cacace said at a press briefing. Cacace said Murray made “some admissions” concerning the alleged abuse. “It is alleged that between Oct. 1, 2023, and March 1, 2023, Murray engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct with a child who is less than 13 years old, including one act of oral sexual conduct,” she said. “There is no crime we take more seriously than offenses committed against children, especially offenses of a sexual nature.” Cacace said authorities got a tip about the alleged abuse on April 12 and launched an investigation. Police seized Murray’s phone and electronic devices — and found that “the defendant had exchanged text messages with the victim in which he discussed performing oral sex on the victim.” The disgraced coach was arrested and arraigned in Mount Vernon City Court on Wednesday. |

A New Jersey couple is accused of abusing a teen girl for seven years by forcing her to live in a dog crate and chained up in a bathroom in their “squalid” animal-filled home, prosecutors said.
Brenda Spencer, 38, and Branndon Mosley, 41, of Gloucester Township, were accused of harming the now-18-year-old girl since 2018, with the victim suffering physical, mental and sexual abuse, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. The victim, who escaped from the home Thursday, said the abuse began when Spencer pulled her out of school in the sixth grade and forced her to live inside a dog crate for about a year. The girl was later thrown into a padlocked bathroom, where she was chained up and only allowed to go out when family visited the residence to hide the abuse, prosecutors said. When she wasn’t in the bathroom, the victim would be forced to live in a bare room, with only a bucket to use as a toilet. The couple was arrested and charged on Sunday with kidnapping, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal restraint, as well as various weapons charges. Mosley was additionally charged with five counts of sexual assault. Both Spencer and Mosley are currently being held at the Camden County Correctional Facility pending their court hearing. |

He was pronounced dead at the hospital. “I just hope he went quickly and I’m grateful for the people — and I hope to meet them — that surrounded him and protected his body so he wasn’t just out in the middle of the road,” Norman’s daughter, Nicole Lauritsen, told 7 ABC Eyewitness News. Lauritsen also told the station that her father had plans to meet for a meal. She said she thinks the killer knew her father was clinging on for his life, but panicked and kept driving. “He was too old and frail to get out before the door slammed on him,” she said. “He knew my dad was hanging, but just panicked and kept going until he fell out of the car.” Cops found Norman’s car parked and unoccupied. Shortly after, they found and arrested Hewitt. He was charged with carjacking and murder, police said. It was the right people, too, people who needed to be uplifted,” he said. Alexander Dickey, 30, a career criminal with 40 prior charges, allegedly broke into the rental home where Federico was staying and opened fire with a stolen gun after stealing from the house. “She was asleep,” Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said, calling her a “true victim.” Dickey went on a shopping spree the next day with Logan’s credit cards, and was caught shortly after he was spotted emerging from the woods, stealing a car, and driving to a residence in Gaston, cops said. “We texted the night she got there to make sure she was safe,” her dad recalled. “Wednesday night, which became a tradition with all of us, I always sent a text that said ‘goodnight, I love you, I’m going to bed,” and they [his family] always responded … I’m still waiting for hers,” he said. Two cops patrolling a Brooklyn subway platform last week were stunned when a strapped-hanger exited a train and dropped loaded Ruger pistol right at their feet. He scooped it up and ran — and proceeded to fall down a flight of stairs. With the cops hot on his heels, Spencer fell while while descending the station’s stairs but made it outside and tried to hide the 9mm pistol under a car, according to police and a complaint filed in Brooklyn Criminal Court. Lakewood Township Emergency Medical Services personnel soon arrived on scene and immediately began to administer medical attention to the infant, who was transported to Ocean University Medicßal Center in Brick Township, and later transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC) in Neptune. Long was killed while her boyfriend, William Kistler, was wounded, after prosecutors say Kendrick Finch, 34, shot them both during horrifying scenes in Downtown Dallas on April 5. Some of Long’s family — who showed up to Finch’s bond reduction hearing wearing T-shirts with her name — were advised to leave the courtroom before the disturbing video was shown. In the video, Kistler confronts someone in the street while Long tries to pull him away. He then touches or hits a white Mercedes driving past, which stops, at which point Kistler is seen rushing to pull something out of Long’s purse. Ware, 41, a former tight end for the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers, reached a deal on Wednesday with the prosecution in exchange for pleading guilty to the 2021 murder of his 29-year-old girlfriend Taylor Pomaski. Pomaski disappeared under suspicious circumstances after she was last seen at a party at her home in Houston, Texas, on April 25, 2021, NBC Houston reported. Just days before she vanished, her NFL boyfriend was found with guns — including a loaded AK-47 — as well as cocaine and meth when he was pulled over for speeding at 115 mph in Montgomery County, ABC13 News reported. Pomaski’s remains were found dumped in a ditch in Harris County in December 2021. Ware had “cut her with a knife, hit her with a blunt object, strangled her and then burned her corpse,” court documents revealed. Pomaski’s ex-boyfriend said he believed she was in an abusive and toxic relationship at the time she disappeared. “Taylor reached out to me many times throughout the month of April. We were talking about her getting out of there, getting back on her feet, getting herself set and stabilized,” Eric Zuleger told KHOU 11 News. An armed man on a vigilante mission to avenge the killing of his great-grandchildren was gunned down in a chaotic shootout with deputies escorting inmates in front of an Indiana courthouse Tuesday, according to family and officials.
The 65-year-old shooter, Mark Vawter, showed up at the Hendricks County Courthouse at 12:55 p.m. with the intention of slaughtering S’Doni Pettis, who’s accused of killing Vawter’s young great-grandchildren in a fiery car crash during a February police chase. While trying to evade capture, Pettis, 25, slammed the stolen Honda Civic he was driving into a Ford Explorer containing 3-year-old Ares and 2-month-old Iris, according to court records. The youngsters were horribly burned when the Explorer — driven by their dad — exploded into a fireball. Iris, who had just left her 2-month doctor checkup about 30 minutes before the crash, died at the scene. Good Samaritans and officers pulled Ares out of the inferno. He was rushed to the hospital with burns on 60 percent of his body. The family took him off life support a few days later, according to reports. Pettis was supposed to have a court appearance in the vehicular manslaughter case Tuesday, but unbeknownst to Vawter, it had been rescheduled. An armed Vawter was spotted leaning against a courthouse wall when the deputies started to transport the inmates. He approached and confronted the group, firing off at least one shot shortly after, according to officials and reports. His shot did not hit anyone, but two Hendricks County sheriff’s deputies, Zachary Emmitt and Nathan Phillips, returned fire and did not miss. Vawter was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. The great-grandfather spoke with the IndyStar at Riley Hospital for Children just days after the fatal fiery crash, as he was observing a Walk of Honor for little Ares, who became an organ donor after his death. “It should have been Ares who buried me, not me burying him,” an emotional Vawter said at the time. “He was so young.” Neighbors suspect Vawter had been planning his revenge for weeks, according to I-Team 8. Prosecutors, citing a “public safety interest,” now want Pettis to appear remotely for all future court hearings and have requested the court deny the public access to his records, according to CBS4Indy. They argued that giving the public access to Pettis’ court dates could “create the opportunity for further attempts at vigilantism or reprisals,” imperiling the lives of other inmates, deputies and passersby. Indiana State Police is conducting an investigation into the shooting at the request of the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office. Cameras in the area captured the shooting, officials said. A Uber passenger was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2022 killing of driver, 38-year-old mother Christina Spicuzza.
The family of Christina Spicuzza said they “showed mercy” on her killer by requesting he not be given the death penalty for the senseless slaying. Calvin Crew, 25, was sentenced to life without parole at the Allegheny County Courthouse in Pittsburgh for the murder of the mother-of-four, CBS News reported. Spicuzza’s family read impact statements to the court despite the killer not being in attendance for his sentencing. “You should have the death penalty, but we showed mercy,” Spicuzza’s mother, Cindy Spicuzza, said. “You executed her. No mercy, no remorse. It was abhorrent. It was murder.” Marto also told the judge he hoped Crew would “rot and burn in prison.” The convicted murderer was also slapped with 13 to 26 years for kidnapping and robbery charges during sentencing. Spicuzza had picked up Crew, wearing a dark hoodie with a mask, at around 9 p.m. on Feb. 10, 2022, while driving for Uber. However, about 10 minutes into the ride, the killer was caught on dashcam footage putting a gun to the back of her head. “You’ve got to be joking,” she said, before realizing the severity of the situation. Crew told her to “keep driving” as Spicuzza pleaded, “Come on, I have a family,” the video shows. “I’m begging you. I have four kids,” Spicuzza said. “I got a family too,” Crew told her. “Now drive.” Throughout the drive, Spicuzza begged Crew to remove the gun from her head multiple times. “Please take that off of me,” she pleaded. “Do what I say and everything will be all right,” Crew told her. The video ended after he noticed the camera and grabbed it from the dashboard. Louisiana authorities on Monday charged a second suspect with murder in the death of a television reporter who had traveled to New Orleans to cover the Super Bowl.
Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old reporter and anchor for Telemundo based in Kansas City, Missouri, was found dead Feb. 5 in his hotel room in the New Orleans suburb of Kenner. A woman seen on security video leaving Manzano’s room was later charged with second-degree murder and with stealing his credit cards and cellphone. Kenner police announced Monday that an accomplice, 34-year-old Rickey White, has also been charged with second-degree murder. White was arrested in Florida in March on robbery and fraud charges related to Manzano’s death, then extradited to Louisiana. Kenner police said in a news release that the murder charge against White resulted from “continued investigative efforts,” but officials gave no further details. Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley said at a news conference March 18 that investigators had linked White to Danette Colbert, the first suspect charged in the case, based on “correspondence and information where they were going back and forth. New prison documents show that Tyree Smith, who has been dubbed the “Connecticut Cannibal Killer,” exhibited violent behavior behind bars and was a “serious threat to life” in prison before he was granted release, according to a news report.
Smith confessed to the 2011 killing of a homeless man, Angel Gonzalez, in Connecticut, and he admitted to eating the victim’s body parts in a cemetery. In 2013, a three-judge panel found Smith not guilty by reason of insanity in the death of Gonzalez. However, he was committed to Connecticut Valley Hospital for 60 years. Smith was granted a conditional release by the Nutmeg State’s Psychiatric Security Review Board in February 2025, which allows him to leave Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown. However, Smith will remain under supervision and will continue to receive mental health services, according to WTNH. For months, Smith has been staying full-time at a community facility with strict conditions, treatment and around-the-clock supervision, CBS News reported after the release from the hospital was granted. ...... On the night of July 10, Mosquera was spotted 100 miles west in Bristol next to a large red suitcase on the city’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, the prosecutor said. The cyclist who saw Mosquera spoke to him, thinking he might be a lost tourist. The accused killer told the cyclist the suitcase had car parts in it. But inside were the decapitated and dismembered remains of Longworth and Alfonso, the prosecutor said. Additional body parts were found in a large silver trunk Mosquera had with him, and the couple’s heads were found in a chest freezer at their apartment. Mosquera, a Colombian national, had been hired to have “extreme sex” with Alfonso when he attacked and killed him, the Old Bailey court in London heard. Longworth was allegedly killed first after being attacked with a hammer to the back of his head, before Alfonso died from repeated stab wounds, the court heard. Mosquera was also allegedly recorded singing and dancing following the attack. He admitted to the manslaughter of Alfonso during a hearing on Tuesday, but the prosecution rejected his plea. Mosquera “could hardly deny” killing Alfonso, as the attack took place while the pair were having sex, and both the sex and the death were filmed, prosecuting attorney Deanna Heer KC said.
