Supreme Court allows Virginia’s purge of voter rolls to stand
The Supreme Court druled Wednesday to allow Virginia to purge hundreds of registered voters from the commonwealth’s rolls in an effort to block non-citizens from casting ballots in this year’s election.
The unsigned order stayed two lower court rulings that found the removal of more than 1,600 voters from the rolls in recent months — at the behest of Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin — was illegal. The court’s three liberals — Justices Ketanji Brown Jackson, Elena Kagan, and Sonia Sotomayor — indicated that they would have allowed the lower court rulings to stand. An MS-13 gang member who entered the U.S. illegally has been arrested by Virginia authorities for allegedly committing a double homicide. The teenager, who was arrested in Alexandria earlier last week, was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Authorities say that Medrano-Ortiz killed Mijal Conejero-Romera and Diego Alexander Woollett in Sterling, Virginia, on Aug. 28. Both victims were 22 years old. |

At his home, Zuberi moved the victim into a “cell he had constructed in his garage,” the Justice Department release says. Florida deputies arrest dozens of illegal immigrants allegedly caught looting from Hurricane Milton victims
More than 100 people, including at least 41 illegal 'migrants', have been arrested in Florida for allegedly looting and scamming victims of hurricanes Helene and Milton, local law enforcement officials said. Looting patrols in Pinellas County over the last three weeks rounded up 45 suspects on 68 charges that included armed robbery, burglary, loitering and prowling, grand theft, vandalism and trespassing, according to Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri.
