Second colored suspect arrested in deadly ambush attack on Texas deputy: sheriff
A second suspect has been arrested in Texas in connection with the ambush killing of a Houston-area deputy last week, according to officials.
Dremone Francis, 26, was charged with capital murder in the death of Harris County Deputy Fernando Esqueda and has been booked in the Harris County Jail, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez wrote on social media. Francis' arrest comes after Ronald "Ronnie" Palmer Jr., 44, was arrested and charged Thursday with capital murder. Palmer is accused of verbally assaulting and pistol whipping a Little Caesars employee after an order he was set to pick up was incorrect. He then fled the restaurant and law enforcement agencies began searching for him following a vehicle description from the employee. Esqueda, who was involved in the search, believed he found the car in question and contacted another detective to let them know. He was ambushed while on the phone, according to Harris County authorities. Backup arrived at the location on Italian Cypress Trail at about 1 a.m. to find Esqueda shot multiple times and his vehicle riddled with bullet holes. |

Secret Service blames local police, says it was tasked with securing properties surrounding Trumpโs Pa. rally But neighbors living near Butler Farm Show Grounds told The Post they were never visited by any law enforcement agencies โ local or federal โ in the days before or during the rally. Attendees reported seeing 20-year-old Thomas Crooks acting suspiciously near rally metal detectors, according to CNN, with local law enforcement being notified and broadcasting warnings over their radios to the Secret Service to be on the lookout for him. He was also reportedly seen with a rifle outside of a security checkpoint to gain entrance into the rally, and later spotted jumping โroof to roofโ before settling on the AGR factory. Police apparently failed to locate him while those alerts were out, before finally responding to reports of an armed man on top of the AGR roof. Around 6:10 p.m., a local police officer climbed a ladder onto the roof and came face to face with Crooks, who who was pointing his rifle at him, law enforcement sources told the Associated Press. |

Illegal immigrant deported three times charged in arson fire that killed mom, two kids 
An illegal immigrant who was deported three times has been charged with setting the California fire that killed a mother and her two young children, according to police. Jose Carmen Cardona, 59, was arrested Friday and charged in the June 25 camper fire in Stockton that killed 32-year-old Lisbeth Gutierrez-Salazar and her two sons โ Juan Gutierrez-Salazar, 10, and Julian Cardona-Gutierrez, 7, San Joaquin County prosecutors said in a release. Police said Cardona was in a relationship with the victim. The suspect was on the run until he was picked up by the US Marshals Service. |

Trump shot on side of the head in apparent assassination attempt at Pa. rally Gunfire appeared to erupt at former President Donald Trumpโs rally in Pennsylvania while he was speaking on stage โ and he was grazed in the ear, law enforcement said. What sounded like gunshots rang out just about five minutes into his speech shortly after 6 p.m., sending Trump to the ground as Secret Service agents jumped in to cover him. Sources said the investigation is ongoing and they are looking into if the shots were from a BB gun. Trump appeared to grab his ear in the moments before he was taken to the floor by the Secret Service. He was heard asking for his shoes as the guards rushed him away. A streak of blood could be seen on the right side of his face. Soldiers in military gear were seen rushing into the rally. Nine shots could be heard in video of the incident, including three before Trump ducked. |

Illegal immigrant suspected in Maryland mom Rachel Morin's murder faces maximum penalty if convicted 
Rachel Morin's suspected killer will face Maryland's maximum penalty of life imprisonment without parole if convicted of her murder, Harford County prosecutors said in a notice to the court. Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, 23, faces a half-dozen charges, including first-degree murder, rape, and kidnapping, in connection with Morin's death. Authorities have labeled him a potential serial killer after his alleged involvement in a slew of crimes against women in Central America and the United States. He is an illegal immigrant suspected not only in Morin's murder, but also a pair of sex assaults in California and the brutal slaying of another woman in his home country of El Salvador. Morin was a 37-year-old mother of five who went out for a jog on a trail near her home in Bel Air, Maryland, about 30 miles northeast of Baltimore. She never made it back. Police found her body in a culvert, covered in bruises and with severe head trauma.
Under state law, prosecutors are required to inform the defendant if they plan to pursue the max sentence. If convicted without such a notice filed, Martinez-Hernandez would be eligible for parole after just 25 years.

(Black) Orange County murder suspect spotted on camera buying knife used to kill 13-year-old: Sheriff Mina
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - The Orange County Sheriff's Office released new details on Friday in the case of a 13-year-old girl murdered last week.
Sheriff John Mina said 28-year-old Jerry Dorisme, the man accused of killing Rose Thalie Dieujuste, was spotted on video purchasing the same kitchen knife that was found at the murder scene. Additional video showed Dorisme walking at a distance behind Dieujuste as she walked through the complex to her friend's house. Dorisme is facing one charge of first-degree felony murder after the teen was found unresponsive inside an apartment off South Rio Grande Ave. According to deputies, Dieujuste showed "obvious signs of trauma." She was rushed to the hospital, where she later died. Dorisme also has a criminal history and was recently baker-acted following an encounter with law enforcement just a few weeks ago. According to Sheriff Mina, deputies responded to reports of a man walking down the street with a knife. During the interaction with deputies, Dorisme punched three deputies. |

The Republican-led House Homeland Security Committee is subpoenaing the Department of Homeland Security to demand that it release more information about immigrants with potential terrorism links who have crossed the southern border into the U.S.
The subpoena follows NBC News reporting on an Afghan migrant on the terrorist watchlist who was released inside the U.S. by Border Patrol, an Uzbek man who crossed the border and was arrested in Baltimore by Immigration and Customs Enforcement for potential links to the Islamic State terrorist group and over 400 migrants brought into the U.S. by an ISIS-linked human smuggling organization. BLACK-ON-WHITE: Suspect in New Orleans tour guide murder in US illegally, has criminal history: ICE
At least one of the three suspects arrested in connection with the shooting death of a French Quarter tour guide in New Orleans is an illegal immigrant with a criminal history on American soil, according to immigration authorities.
The immigration status of the other two suspects was not immediately clear. New Orleans police arrested Joshua Bonifacio-Avila, 19, Jerben Albarec, 17, and Kevin Nunez, 15, the day after the slaying of 43-year-old Kristie Thibodeaux in her car on St. Peter Street, the morning of June 30. Nunez is accused of pulling the trigger. And Aviala-Bonifacio, a Honduras national, is accused of entering the country illegally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement told Fox News Digital. "On May 11, 2019, U.S. Border Patrol encountered Bonifacio near Hidalgo, Texas, and determined him to be inadmissible into the U.S. pursuant to the Immigration and Nationality Act," an ICE spokesperson said. "On multiple occasions, Bonifacio has been arrested for theft and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. Since February 2024, Jefferson Parish Sheriffโs Office has booked Bonifacio for five local violations." ICE does not have purview over juveniles, so the immigration status of the other two suspects was not immediately clear. The agency's Enforcement and Removal Operations division, ERO, has lodged a detainer request for the suspect. The slaying took place around 4:30 a.m. on June 30 as part of an armed robbery, New Orleans police said. They arrested all three suspects on July 1. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office identified Thibodeaux as the victim on July 2. |

A 1-year-old boy survived two days and nights by himself being battered by stormy weather on the side of a Louisiana highway until a trucker spotted him crawling along the roadway not far from where his 4-year-old brother was found dead a day earlier.
The baby was riddled with bug bites but otherwise unharmed. The boysโ mother, Aaliyah Jack, 25, was arrested on Tuesday in Mississippi, some 350 miles from where the children were found, authorities said. โWe look at this 1-year-old as our miracle baby because he was still alive,โ Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Gary โStitchโ Guillory told reporters at a news conference in Lake Charles, about 200 miles west of New Orleans. โThis kid spent two days out in the weather on the side of the highway,โ the sheriff said, emotion visibly registering on his face. โThank God that trucker seen him.โ Amid high winds and rainfall kicked up by Hurricane Beryl, the 4-year-oldโs body was found in a lake behind a welcome center on Interstate 10 on Monday, not far from the Texas border. Autopsy reports for the boy are still pending, according to KPLC TV. Authorities who were looking into the childโs death became aware that he was last seen on Saturday with Jack and the 1-year-old. Police were gearing up to search the lake for the baby, fearing he had met the same fate as his brother, when the trucker saw the baby and called 911. A law enforcement alert was put out for Jack on Monday night, and a judge in Louisiana issued a warrant for her arrest. She was arrested in Meridian, Miss., currently on charges of failure to report a missing child. โShe was located in Mississippi, without the 1 year old, by the Meridian Police Department and taken into custody,โ the Calcasieu Sheriffโs Office said. โWhen deputies arrived, they were able to positively identify the child as the missing 1 year old,โ the sheriffโs office said in a press release. Conswella Jack, who lives in Lake Charles, had been helping care for the boys โ a 4-year-old whose body was found behind an I-10 welcome center and his 1-year-old brother, who was found alive along the interstate. โI was so blessed to hear the baby survived but also so hurt because one is now gone,โ Jack said through tears. Aaliyah Jack, Conswella Jack's daughter and the boys' mother, had fallen on hard times, according to Jack, and she, along with the boys' paternal grandmother had stepped in to help. |

The man accused of slamming his fussy baby into his knee, killing the child, has been indicted by a Brevard County grand jury for first-degree murder, the state attorney's office announced on Wednesday. Sign up for our Newsletters Edrick Davis, 25, is facing one count of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated child abuse with great bodily harm after his 6-week-old son died in June. On June 10, Melbourne police responded to a 911 call regarding an infant found unresponsive and not breathing just after 11 a.m. The child was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead. According to an affidavit, Davis told police he was feeding the child, but once the baby fell asleep, he laid him down and got in the shower. When he returned to the room, Davis says he found the baby unresponsive. According to records, an autopsy the following day confirmed the child had died by multiple blunt force trauma, and officials ruled the death a homicide. |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. โ An Indiana judge is no longer tolerating dozens of โirrelevantโ motions from the woman accused of killing her 5-year-old son and leaving his body inside a suitcase in rural southern Indiana.
Dejaune Anderson, Cairo Jordanโs mother, is charged with murder, neglect of a dependent and obstruction of justice in the young boyโs death. Anderson was expected to be in court for a pretrial hearing on Thursday, however Indiana Judge Larry Medlock has pushed it back again to August 22. The judge has also rescheduled her trial, which was set to begin in August, to October 1. Medlock has been waiting for two Indiana doctors to complete psychiatric evaluations of Anderson, who is fighting to represent herself in court. |

Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao on Wednesday dismissed the claims of her partner's role in her administration as "rumors and innuendo" when CBS News Bay Area interviewed her for the first time since the FBI raid on her home June 20.
During the seven-minute interview with CBS News Bay Area anchor and reporter Ryan Yamamoto, Thao largely reiterated what she has said in previous public comments since the raid, declaring her innocence and referring any questions about the investigation to federal authorities. When asked if the FBI has told her she is not under investigation, Thao replied, "First and foremost, I cannot comment on matters related to an ongoing investigation, but what I can share is that I am not the subject of investigation and I have done nothing wrong. Chicago reels from bloody July 4 weekend with 109 people shot โ 19 fatally
 Chicago was plagued by bloodshed during the the long Fourth of July holiday weekend, with 109 people shot and 19 killed, authorities said. There were a (reported) total of 74 shooting incidents in the Windy City from Wednesday, July 3 to Sunday, July 7 โ including three mass shootings, according to data released by police. The youngest victim was 8-year-old Bryson Orr, who was killed along with two female relatives in a shooting at a home in the Grand Crossing neighborhood the morning of July 4. Two other boys, aged 5 and 7, were injured in that shooting, NBC Chicago reported. On Friday, eight people were shot in a mass shooting in Chicagoโs Little Italy neighborhood including teenagers and a 74-year-old woman. Police said preliminary information indicates there was an exchange of gunfire between two unidentified offenders who fled the scene. Last year, 11 people were killed and 62 were injured over the holiday weekend, according to the NBC Chicago. 2 murder suspects who escaped Mississippi jail are captured after being found in abandoned home
Two inmates who escaped a jail in Mississippi while awaiting trial for murder have been captured after a manhunt, authorities said Saturday.
Tyrekennel Collins, 24, and Dezarrious Johnson, 18, were both found inside an abandoned home in Claiborne County on Saturday after they escaped from the Claiborne County Detention Center the previous day, Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods said. Collins and Johnson were seen on surveillance footage escaping through the ceiling and leaving behind an outside wall around 2:20 a.m., Goods said. Johnson injured his right leg during the escape and was walking with a โbad limp,โ according to the sheriffโs office. Authorities alerted the public during the ensuing search that both suspects were considered dangerous. |
24-year-old charged with murder after Birmingham shooting
A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the murder of Renard West.
Kishande Huckabee of Birmingham is charged with murder and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond. Community members gave officers a description of the clothing Huckabee was wearing. When officers found a man matching that description, he was taken into custody. He did have a handgun when captured. |

BLACK-ON-WHITE: WHITE Cleveland police officer fatally shot by BLACK KILLER in the cityโs Hough neighborhood, suspect charged
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A Cleveland police officer was fatally shot on the cityโs East side Thursday morning and a 24-year-old suspect is now charged with aggravated murder.
Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd said Officer Jamieson Ritter, 27, was shot in the 1500 block of E. 80th Place around 1 a.m. This is in the cityโs Hough neighborhood. According to Chief Todd, multiple officers responded to the area to serve a warrant on a man wanted for felonious assault. When they arrived, the suspect, later identified as Delawnte Hardy, was seen leaving a home on a bicycle. While trying to stop him, Chief Todd said the suspect fired shots, striking Officer Ritter . Hardy was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Cuyahoga County Justice Center. He is charged with aggravated murder. Chief Todd added Hardy was not injured, but was taken to the hospital as a โpre-cautionary measure.โ Chief Todd said Officer Ritter has been with the department for four years and was assigned to the Third District. โThey need to be recognized for the heroes they are,โ said Chief Todd. 13-year-old girl 'tragically murdered' in mall shooting by DARK KILLER in Washington, police say
A 13-year-old girl died Wednesday after being hit by gunfire during a fight in a mall in Lynnwood, Washington, police said.
Jayda Woods-Johnson was "tragically murdered" at the Alderwood Mall, the Lynnwood Police Department said. "The suspect has been identified as a[n african-american] 16-year old male from Edmonds," the department said in a statement. "He was brought in by his mother and is in custody. He will be booked into jail for Murder." Two groups had been in an "altercation" near the mall's food court, police said. Woods-Johnson had not been involved with either group and appeared to have been struck by a stray bullet, police said. Police said they were still searching for the gun used during the shooting. Illegal migrant charged with suffocating, killing young woman on her birthday: report Syracuse Police charged Ecuador native Jhon Moises Chacaguasay-Ilbis with murder
A woman was recently suffocated and killed in New York on the same day she turned 21, officials say. Suspect Jhon Moises Chacaguasay-Ilbis, 21, is accused of murdering Joselyn Jhoana Toaquiza in Syracuse June 18. The Syracuse Police Department told Fox News Digital the suspect has been charged with second-degree murder and concealment of a human corpse. A source from the Department of Homeland Security recently told the New York Post both Chacaguasay-Ilbis and Toaquiza were in the U.S. illegally. Both are from Ecuador. Prosecutor Alphonse Williams told The Post-Standard of Syracuse the suspect was staying at an Airbnb at the time of the murder. He reportedly traveled to see Toaquiza on her 21st birthday. |

Two people, one identified as Patricia Portillo, died at the scene from gunshot wounds. The other victimโs identity is being withheld pending family notification, a police spokesperson told The Post. A county sheriff in Maryland sounded off on the scourge of migrant crime in the US after charging Salvadoran gang member with the brutal rape and murder of mother-of-five Rachel Morin on a popular hiking trail. Cops arrested Victor Martinez Hernandez, 23, who is in the country illegally, after a months-long investigation that relied heavily on DNA evidence. Federal authorities were finally able to track him to a bar in Tulsa, Oklahoma, according to WBAL TV 11. Crystal McKinney, a former model and TV star from Georgia, alleges that she was drugged and sexually assaulted by Combs in 2003, according to the suit, filed in the Southern District of New York. McKinney, who first rose to prominence after winning MTVโs inaugural โModel Missionโ beauty pageant show in 1998 when she was 17, was an up-and-coming model when she was invited to attend a Menโs Fashion Week event in New York in 2003. The then-22-year-old was told by a person referred to only as โthe Designerโ in the filing that Combs could help โadvance her modeling careerโ and arranged for a meeting. The designer made sure McKinney got her roots touched up to look โplatinum blonde,โ arranged for her to get hair extensions and decked her out in a revealing outfit so sheโd look attractive to the rapper, according to the lawsuit. Police have arrested a McKees Rocks teen who they say fatally shot a Stowe man on Thanksgiving eve.
Cy-Miar Amari Woods, 16, was charged as an adult Thursday in the Nov. 22 death of Michael Dean. Dean, 26, was killed at his house in the 800 block of Benwood Avenue, according to a criminal complaint in the case. Woods is the second person arrested in the case. Arrmon Hagans, a 43-year-old ex-con from Wilkinsburg, was arrested in December in connection with the shooting. Allegheny County Police arrested Woods this week on multiple charges, including criminal homicide, attempted burglary and firearms offenses. Police said that Hagans, who drove a jitney, told them that he was bar-hopping on Nov. 22 in a gray Dodge Charger before picking up Woods and another young man near Sto-Rox High School for a ride, the complaint said. President Biden announced new tariffs Tuesday on Chinese EVs, semiconductors, batteries, solar cells, steel and aluminum. The tariffs on EVs will rise to 100%, quadrupling the current tariff of 25%.
Mr. Biden is directing the tariff on solar cell imports from China to double to 50%. Tariff rates on certain steel and aluminum products will more than triple to 25%, up from 7.5% or less. The Biden administration is also doubling tariffs on Chinese semiconductors from 25% to 50% and increasing tariffs on Chinese medical supplies, batteries, critical minerals and ship-to-shore cranes. These steps together will raise tariffs on $18 billion in imports from China, the White House says, as the administration keeps in place Trump-era tariffs on China under Section 301. STAMFORD โ A West Haven resident was sentenced to more than two years in prison Tuesday โ which he already has served โ after he pleaded guilty to attempting to kill a man during a shootout on a residential street in Norwalk in 2017.
Marquel Middleton, 31, appeared at the state Superior Court in Stamford Tuesday clad in gray sweatpants and sweatshirt to receive his sentence, which came as a part of a deal offered by Superior Court Judge Gary White. After he is released by the Department of Corrections, Middleton will begin five years of probation. If he violates his probation, he faces up to an additional 17.5 years in prison. The Biden administration warned Republican Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds on Friday that legal action will be taken if it enforces a new law that allows authorities to arrest migrants who were previously denied entry or deported from the US โ as she and the state attorney general vow they โwill not back down.โ In a letter to the Hawkeye State governor, a Justice Department Deep State lackey official called the measure unconstitutional and gave the state a May 7 deadline to suspend enforcement of Senate File 2340, which Reynolds signed into law earlier this month. โSF 2340 is preempted by federal law and violates the United States Constitution,โ Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian Boynton wrote, according to the Des Moines Register. Iowaโs new law, which goes into effect on July 1, makes it an aggravated misdemeanor offense โ punishable by up to two years in prison โ for migrants to be in the Hawkeye State if they have outstanding deportation orders, were previously deported or were at one point barred from entering the US. The law elevates the crime to a felony offense if the personโs previous removal orders were related to misdemeanor convictions for drug crimes, crimes against people or any type of felony conviction. Police are barred from arresting suspected migrants in violation of the law at places of worship, schools or medical facilities. Arrested individuals may be allowed by a judge to leave the country and not face charges, according to the lawโs text. Convicted migrants could also be forcibly deported by judges. โThe only reason we had to pass this law is because the Biden Administration refuses to enforce the laws already on the books,โ Reynolds wrote on X, signaling that she has no plans to not enforce the new law. โI have a duty to protect the citizens of Iowa,โ she added. โUnlike the federal government, we will respect the rule of law and enforce it.โ |

According to the report, one proposal would use the United States Refugee Admissions Program to bring in Palestinians with U.S. ties who may have escaped into Egypt.
