Kansas to pay $1M in suit over 7-year-old who was tortured, fed to pigs by BLACK DEVIL 
Kansas will pay $1 million to settle a lawsuit over a 7-year-old boy's murder in 2015 alleging that the state's child welfare agency should have removed him from an abusive home before he was starved and tortured and his body was fed to pigs.
Gov. Laura Kelly and top leaders of the Kansas Legislature approved the settlement during a brief public meeting Tuesday after conferring with state Attorney General Kris Kobach's top deputy in private for 30 minutes. The lawsuit was filed in 2017 in Wyandotte County in the Kansas City area by the boy's mother, maternal grandmother and adult sister, and a district court trial was scheduled for April 2025. The boy, Adrian Jones, was living with his father, Michael Jones, and his stepmother, Heather Jones, in Kansas City, Kansas, when he died. Both are serving 25 years-to-life prison sentences for his murder, and authorities said the boy was beaten and locked naked in a shower stall for months as a closed-circuit surveillance camera recorded his deteriorating condition. |
NYPD hunts for crazed negro man who tossed flaming container at group on subway platform 
Police are hunting for a crazed man who tossed a flaming container at a group of straphangers on a Manhattan subway platform last month. Footage released by cops Wednesday showed a man holding two blazing cans filled with flammable liquid at a turnstile inside the West 28th Street subway station around 7:40 p.m. on Feb. 5. The suspect was holding two cans of lit flammable liquids. The suspect then hurled one of the lit containers at a group on a southbound 1 train platform, police said. The container didnโt hit anyone and there were no reported injuries. The suspect fled the station on foot, the NYPD said. Police are looking for a man who is about 35 year old, 6-feet tall with a slender build and brown eyes, police said. He was last seen in a gray hoodie and a jacket, pants and sandals that are all in black. The attempted arson is part of a recent crime wave in the Big Appleโs transit system to start 2024, prompting Gov. Kathy Hochul to deploy more than 700 members of the National Guard and state police to conduct controversial bag checks. |
WANTED: 4th (BLACK) teen suspect in Philadelphia mass shooting identified
Authorities in Philadelphia identified the fourth suspect in connection to a mass shooting at a bus stop that injured eight teenagers.
The U.S. Marshals Service on Wednesday said they are hunting for 17-year-old Asir Boone. He is wanted for attempted murder. Boone, who authorities said is armed and dangerous, was described as a Black male. He is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 140 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes. A $5,000 reward for information leading to Boone's arrest is being offered. The three other suspects have been arrested and charged. Jermahd Carter, 19, was taken into custody outside a family member's home on Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities. He is facing attempted murder, gun violations, and other related charges. Earlier on Tuesday, authorities announced the arrests of Ahnile Buggs, 18, and Jamaal Tucker, 18. They are each facing charges that include attempted murder, aggravated murder, firearms charges, reckless endangerment, as well as other related charges. |

During the hearing, the prosecution presented graphic screenshots from videos taken while Jackson was held against her will, before she was murdered. The photos depicted Jackson being slapped, punched, stripped nude, and forced to perform sexual acts while held at gun point. OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- An unrepentant ex-convict was sentenced Thursday to 25 years to life in state prison for kidnapping and raping a woman who suffers from a cognitive disability in Oakland earlier this year.
Before he was sentenced, Hassan Lee Bratcher, 39, complained that, "There are so many lies in this case it's ridiculous" and accused the victim of committing perjury when she testified against him. But Alameda County Superior Court Judge Rhonda Burgess said Bratcher, who has previous convictions for false imprisonment and illegal gun and drug offenses, has a history of "violent and predatory conduct over many years and has displayed a complete disregard for the rule of law." Burgess said in one sense he chose the victim at random but in another sense he chose her specifically "because of her vulnerability," since the 33-year-old woman suffers from a developmental disability and was 8 months pregnant so her ability to flee him was severely hampered. Prosecutors said Bratcher was driving a van around Oakland at about 8 a.m. on March 5, which was a Sunday, when he came across the woman as she was walking to church. Bratcher called out to the woman from his car and they had a short conversation during which he was kind to her and pretended to know her in order to lure her into his van, prosecutors said. The woman was tired and was having difficulty walking so Bratcher told her he would give her a ride the rest of the way to her church, according to prosecutors. However, once they arrived at the church Bratcher became hostile, wouldn't allow the woman to get out of his van and drove her away from the church, prosecutors said. Bratcher then took the woman to different locations in Oakland over the next four hours and raped her multiple times inside his van, according to prosecutors. US Army intelligence analyst charged with selling classified military information to China 
A US Army analyst has been arrested and charged with selling sensitive military secrets to a contact in China.
Sgt Korbein Schultz was arrested on Thursday at Fort Campbell in Kentucky following an inquiry by the FBI and US Army counterintelligence. According to the charges, he was paid $42,000 (ยฃ33,000) in exchange for dozens of sensitive security records. Officials say the criminal conspiracy began in June 2022 and continued up until his arrest. Jury convicts 41-year-old of 2021 murder at apartment on northeast side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) โ A 41-year-old Indianapolis man was found guilty Wednesday of the 2021 murder of a man at the Carriage House East apartments, the Marion County Prosecutorโs Office reports.
Indianapolis police found Michael McDowell, 65, dead with a single gunshot wound to the head while responding to a report of a person shot about 4:50 p.m. July 3, 2021, in the 10100 block of Pineneedle Court. The apartment complex is near the intersection of East 42nd Street and North Mitthoeffer Road. A jury found Daniel โCoryโ Rhodes guilty of murder. A count of unlawful possession of a firearm was dismissed, online court records show. However, Rhodes was found to be a habitual offender and will receive an enhanced sentence. His sentencing was set for 11 a.m. April 12 in Marion Superior Court 30. Witnesses told investigators that Rhodes and McDowell were visiting an apartment, and Rhodes was acting paranoid and was under the influence. Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant for Rhodesโs residence and recovered the rifle used in the shooting with Rhodesโs DNA on the weapon. The special weapons and tactics team of Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department apprehended Rhodes and he was taken to the homicide office, the prosecutorโs office said in a news release issued Wednesday. Rhodes admitted to detective that heโd approach McDowell as he sat on the couch inside the apartment and shot him in the head, the release says. Rhodes also told detectives that he believed he was being set up for a robbery and thought McDowell had a gun. |

37-year-old Jennifer Denton and others reportedly involved in the scheme are said to have fraudulently obtained checks from the company Elite Pre-Settlement LLC by filing false settlement claims. WGXA reported 16 arrested in November and, now, a further six arrests have been reported by the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. 31-year-old Isis Anderson, 40-year-old Leviticus Blash, 26-year-old Jayvean Cummings, 31-year-old Latisha McCrary, 23-year-old Devontae Shivers, and 66-year-old Calvin West have all been arrested and charged in connection with the conspiracy. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office says that this investigation is still ongoing and even more arrests are expected. |

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (WGXA)- A man charged in his cousin's Florida murder has been arrested in Milledgeville, according West Palm Beach Police.
Police say Gary Everett, 46, is charged with murder in the October 2023 shooting death of his cousin in Palm Beach County. Investigators say Victor Howard, 37, of Lake Park was discovered shot after a 911 caller reported seeing someone drag a body from a car during the early morning hours of Oct. 10, 2023. Howard was barely clinging to life when police found him and died later at the hospital. Police say Everett flagged down a Riviera Beach police officer about an hour after Howard was discovered shot, claiming someone had shot his cousin in the Gramercy Park area. But West Palm Beach Police said Tuesday Everett's story was an attempt to take suspicion away from himself. Officers said their investigation determined Everett shot and killed Howard with a single shot to the head. Police said they found a large amount of money had been taken from Howard-- and that Everett failed to explain how his cousin had been shot nor why he had Howard's blood all over him. |

An unhinged madman with a long rap sheet is allegedly targeting female doctors and nurses in The Bronx โ with at least four attacks over the past five years, The Post has learned.
Edward Johnson, 57, an illegal immigrant believed to be from the Caribbean who came to the United States over a decade ago, has been arrested 23 times on charges that include gun possession, according to sources and records. He has another 42 arrests that have been sealed since he arrived in the US. He skipped out on supervised release and is on the lam, authorities said โ and has a dangerous habit of attacking female healthcare workers who try to treat him. โEvery time he goes to the hospital, he beats up a nurse or a doctor,โ said an NYPD source. He has logged four such assaults at three Bronx hospitals since 2019, sources said, and a repeat victim is Colleen Leahy, an emergency room doctor at St. Barnabas. She told cops she was attacked by him in July 2022 and again last September. โIโm afraid every day at work โ every day,โ said Leahy, 28, who has lost 20 pounds since the September beating because of the anxiety she feels over his impending return. And her mom is terrified, too. โIโm afraid my daughter will become the next Laken Riley,โ said Eileen Leahy, referring to the Georgia nursing student who allegedly was murdered by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, six months after authorities released him following a child-endangered arrest in Queens. The hospital attacks date back to December 2019, when Johnson was arrested on assault charges for punching a 45-year-old female doctor in the mouth and a 61-year-old female nurse in the chest at Albert Einstein Hospital in Morris Park. His last arrest was Jan. 13 at Jacobi Medical Center in Pelham Gardens, for allegedly socking a 26-year-old nurse in the eye after she tried to take his blood pressure, police sources said. The unidentified nurse suffered a bruised, swollen eye, and Johnson was slapped with assault charges. After he skipped authorities by not complying with his supervised release, a warrant for his arrest was issued last month. Patrice OโShaughnessy, a spokeswoman for Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, said the case is currently being presented to a grand jury to secure an indictment against Johnson. He punched her in the right eye, severely bruising it, according to authorities. He refused to give his name to cops, but he was ultimately charged with second-degree assault and injuring a healthcare worker. He spent eight months behind bars โ but the details of his release remain unclear. Leahy said an assistant district attorney working for Clark called her in April 2023 and explained the office wouldnโt take the case to trial because it doesnโt want to โhurt [Johnsonโs] immigration statusโ and believes his eight months served as a detainee was enough. However, OโShaughnessy insisted Johnsonโs immigration status didnโt play a role in the decision. She said he copped a plea deal to the lesser charge of attempted assault โ which meant no additional jail time โ only after Leahy declined to pursue the case further in court. She also said Leahy was also granted an order of protection against Johnson that remains in effect. Yet on Sept. 18, 2023, Johnson returned to St. Barnabas and allegedly kicked Leahy in the head while she and a male co-worker tried to inject a needle in his arm, authorities said. Leahy also claimed he assaulted another female nurse at the hospital hours earlier. No arrest was made, but Leahy filed a police report two days later documenting her attack, which she said left her with headaches, according to NYPD sources. โItโs infuriating that he keeps doing this to healthcare workers โ especially women โ and then is let go,โ Leahy said. โThey had him in custody multiple times, so why is he being let go to attack other people, other healthcare workers?โ |

A jury in Washington Parish found a Hammond man guilty of second-degree murder.
Travon Washington, 21, was found guilty of killing Xykie Barker while robbing his house in August 2021. Washington's co-defendant Deanna Johnson decided to plead guilty rather than face trial and was sentenced to 50 years. Police say Washington and Johnson lured Barker out of his home and fired 20 shots at him. SO said they stole guns, keys and a gaming system that belonged to Barker. The sheriff's office says Washington crashed the car a mile away from the home. Washington is now facing life in prison and his sentencing is scheduled for April 18. |

More than two years after the shooting, Scottโs lawyers argued this week during trial that his paranoia got the better of him. After all, he had been the victim in a similar drive-by shooting just a year prior to the incident, they told a 12-person jury. But jurors found it didnโt excuse Scottโs actions on that December night in 2021. Scott, now 22, was found guilty of first-degree murder after the jury deliberated for about 10 hours on Friday. ATLANTA (AP) โ A man who killed his former girlfriend three decades ago is set to be put to death in March in what would be Georgiaโs first execution in more than four years.
A judge on Thursday signed the order for the execution of Willie James Pye, who was convicted of murder and other crimes in the November 1993 killing of Alicia Lynn Yarbrough. The execution is scheduled for March 20 at 7 p.m., after the judge set an execution window between noon that day and noon on March 27. Pye, 59, would be the first person executed in Georgia since January 2020. Georgia executions are carried out at the state prison in Jackson by injection of the sedative pentobarbital. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, executions were effectively halted for a certain group of people on Georgiaโs death row by an agreement between their attorneys and the state. Pyeโs lawyer cited that agreement when asking a court Wednesday to prohibit the state from seeking an execution warrant against him for the time being. Pye and Yarbrough had dated on and off, but at the time of her death Yarbrough was living with another man, according to court filings. Pye, Chester Adams and a 15-year-old boy had planned to rob that man and bought a handgun before heading to a party in Griffin, prosecutors have said. The trio left the party around midnight and went to the house where Yarbrough lived, finding her alone with her baby. They forced their way into the house, stole a ring and necklace from Yarbrough and took her with them when they left, leaving the baby alone, prosecutors have said They drove to a motel, where they took turns raping Yarbrough and then left the motel with her in the teenagerโs car, prosecutors have said. They turned onto a dirt road and Pye ordered Yarbrough out of the car, made her lie face down and shot her three times, according to court filings. Eagle Pass, Texas โ A federal judge in Austin on Thursday blocked Texas state officials from implementing a sweeping immigration law that would have allowed them to arrest, jail and prosecute migrants who cross into the U.S. illegally.

In a 114-page order, Judge David Ezra of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas granted the challengers' request for a preliminary injunction preventing Texas officials from enforcing the state law. Ezra wrote that the Constitution and Supreme Court precedent make clear that states cannot enforce immigration measures without federal approval, and that the Texas law conflicts with federal law. He rejected an argument from Texas that the state's authority to repel an "invasion" allows it to enforce SB4, writing that "surges in immigration do not constitute an 'invasion' within the meaning of the Constitution." Lastly, he said that allowing Texas to enforce the law would mean states could override federal statutes, a discredited constitutional theory known as nullification. "[T]o allow Texas to permanently supersede federal directives on the basis of an invasion would amount to nullification of federal law and authority โ a notion that is antithetical to the Constitution and has been unequivocally rejected by federal courts since the Civil War," Ezra wrote. In a statement, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott vowed to "immediately appeal this decision, and we will not back down in our fight to protect our state โ and our nation โ from President Biden's border crisis." Attorney General Ken Paxton soon filed notice with the court that the state was appealing the ruling. (BLACK) Louisiana murder suspect escapes custody after pepper spraying deputy, stealing her vehicle
A Louisiana inmate in custody on a second-degree murder charge escaped Sunday after pepper spraying his transporting deputy and stealing her vehicle, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office said.
Leon Ruffin had been transferred from the corrections center to a local hospital around 12 p.m. after suffering a possible seizure. He was discharged around 6:30 p.m. and escorted back by a deputy. As the deputy was leaving the hospital with Ruffin in the vehicle, he "created some type of disturbance." The deputy got out of the car and opened the door to check on Ruffin when he pepper sprayed her, Sheriff Joe Lopinto said in a press conference. Ruffin escaped in the vehicle. His whereabouts are unknown. โI really donโt believe he has anything to lose,โ Lopinto said. โHeโs in for a second-degree murder for life in prison at this point in time, so I definitely consider him armed and dangerous by all means.โ The deputy had her pepper spray, taser and weapon on her as Ruffin escaped and was able to fire three shots at him. It remains unclear if any rounds hit Ruffin. Ruffin does not have access to a firearm, but he is still carrying the pepper spray and driving the deputy's vehicle. Authorities do not know how Ruffin obtained the pepper spray. Prior to receiving treatment at the hospital, Ruffin had been in the medical facility of the corrections center, but Lopinto said they believe he was faking his injuries. Ruffin was wearing a walking boot from the hospital, which he removed at the time of his escape. The deputy was treated for the pepper spray at the hospital and is in โgood spirits.โ The search for Ruffin remains ongoing. |

A man in Flint, Michigan, has become the first person to be charged under the stateโs new safe firearms storage law after his 2-year-old daughter shot herself in the head with his gun, leaving her in critical condition, prosecutors said.
The father, Michael Tolbert, is also facing a slew of other charges in the Valentineโs Day shooting, including child abuse, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and lying to a police officer, Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton announced Tuesday. The incident happened the day after the firearms storage law went into effect, requiring gun owners to store firearms unloaded and secured with a locking device or stored in a lockbox if a minor lives at or is likely to visit their property. โThis is the first case in Michigan where an individual has been charged with violating the firearm safe storage law,โ Leyton said in a news conference. Police searched Tolbertโs home after he brought his daughter, Skye McBride, to a hospital with a gunshot wound to her head, Leyton said. Doctors say Skye, who was still in critical condition Tuesday, will lose her eye, he added. "One thing that will be an immediate game-changer is some of the Department of Justice subject matter experts are grant experts. They are going to be assessing where the gaps might be, finding us grant programs that might be targeted where they have needs," U.S. Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams said. On Tuesday afternoon, sources at police headquarters confirmed to Eyewitness News detectives were a step closer to making an arrest in the deadly shooting of Collington, a Prospect Park man who was set to graduate from Temple in the near future. The gunman is believed to be responsible for as many as four other carjackings, according to information shared with CBS3. Facing TV cameras, police officials were guarded with revealing many details of the investigation. "We have been working around the clock to identify the individual responsible for that incident. A Pizza Hut worker in Wisconsin killed his manager in the restaurant's kitchen in order to steal a $7,000 inheritance from him, according to police.
Kavonn Ingram, 31, allegedly shot dead 55-year-old Alex Stengel and slashed his throat at the pizza chain's kitchen on February 5, before dragging his body outside and throwing it in a garbage can. Police were alerted to the gruesome finding at the dumpster behind the South Milwaukee eatery two days later, and followed the trail of blood back to the Pizza Hut's kitchen. Investigators say Stengel had cashed a $7,000 inheritance check in the days before his murder and had showed off the cash to co-workers, as reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Ingram was arrested a few days after the body was discovered and charged with murder, hiding a corpse, armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon. Police believe he wrapped Stengel in a garbage bag after killing him and then wheeled him outside to the dumpster area. Stengel's wallet and phone had also been taken when his body was found. Security surveillance reportedly captured a suspect dressed in black dragging a garbage can from the Pizza Hut to the dumpster. The suspect appeared to be struggling with the weight of what was in the bag, according to police. Detectives said the majority of the restaurant appeared dirty except for a section of the kitchen that looked like it had been cleaned recently, per a criminal complaint. The metal doors also appeared to have been cleaned. Police also said they found what looked like bloody handprints on the handle of a closet. Ingram allegedly clocked out for Stengel after the murder in an attempt to cover up the crime, according to police. The Pizza Hut's regional manager told police that she had received a text from Stengel's phone saying he was not feeling well and was clocking out early.

The body of 55-year-old Alexander Stengel was found in a garbage cart outside the restaurant near Carroll and Chicago Avenue Wednesday morning, Feb. 7.
On Feb. 11, officers announced an arrest was made in connection to Stengel's death. The accused is 31-year-old Kavonn Ingram, who now faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide, (as a party to a crime), hiding a corpse (as a party to a crime) armed robbery (use of force- as a party to a crime) and possession of a firearm by a felon. According to a criminal complaint, investigators determined Stengel was likely killed in the kitchen area of the Pizza Hut, wrapped in a garbage bag from the restaurant, placed in a garbage can and then wheeled outside to the dumpster crib area - all before 10:25 a.m. on Feb. 5. A medical examiner's report determined the manner of death was homicide, noting a gunshot wound and puncture wounds to the victim's neck and head. Prosecutors say surveillance video obtained by officers shows a suspect dragging a garbage can from the area of Pizza Hut toward the dumpster crib the morning of Feb. 5. The video reportedly shows the suspect struggling to pull the garbage can, as though it contains something heavy. The complaint says computer records show the victim clocked in for work at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 5 and clocked out of work at 10:50 a.m. The security video shows the can containing the victim's body had been dragged to its location about 25 minutes before this time, indicating the suspect is an employee familiar with the Pizza Hut computer and time management system. Investigators learned that days prior, the victim had shown a large roll of cash to several employees, Ingram being one of them. The complaint says an investigation revealed Stengel had cashed an inheritance check just before heading to work that day and likely had $7,000 in his possession. Anthony Tooles, 36, is charged with fatally shooting a man in East Price Hill on Thursday.
Police found the victim, 31-year-old Elijah McCall, at a residence on Elberon Avenue. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and pronounced dead at the scene. Tooles was arrested the following morning. |

A man arrested in connection with the death of 34-year-old Vincent Crutcher was in court Saturday.
Jeremiah Banks, 20, was arrested Friday after failing to appear in court Monday. He was arraigned on a stolen weapons charge Saturday morning with a $5,000 bond established. He is being held on a $150,000 bond for a complicity to murder and robbery charge in connection with Crutcher's death. Warrants were issued for Jeremiah Banks along with Devin Watts in the murder investigation. Police say Crutcher was killed on June 23, 2022, in the 4000 block of Heatherview Road. When officers arrived, they found him suffering from a gunshot wound. Crutcher was taken to UofL Hospital, where he later died. Banks is being held at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. He will next appear in court on Feb. 26 at 11:30 a.m. A third suspect in the case, Charvontae Reed, was arrested shortly after the shooting. His trial is set to begin in August. Watts still remains at large. |

Suspended Dauphin Co. Judge Sonya McKnight was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted murder.
According to a press release from the Cumberland County District Attorney's Office, McKnight allegedly shot a man in the head while he was sleeping in bed. The bullet entered the right side of the victim's face, went through his head in a straight line and slightly below his eyes, and exited on the left side of his face, according to the D.A. The victim survived, but is now blind in one eye as a result. McKnight was arrested Thursday afternoon and taken to the Susquehanna Police Department. The Cumberland County District Attorney is investigating the case due to conflicts of interest within the Dauphin County District Attorney's Office and the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office. She is currently being processed at the Dauphin County Central Booking Center, and has been given a bail of $300,000. McKnight is also facing aggravated assault charges. |

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police are searching for a man who they claim tried to sexually assault a woman who was walking in the city's Fishtown neighborhood.
Police released surveillance video and described the man they're seeking as in his early 30s, around 6 feet tall, with a dark complexion and a full beard. He was last seen wearing a brownish-green coat with a black Nirvana hoodie and black Under Armour track pants. The victim was hit in the 1900 block of South Lamesa Road in Midland, which is about 320 miles northwest of San Antonio. The boy, named by his school as Alex Wise, died from his injuries the following day after he had been airlifted to hospital in critical condition, police said. Ortiz was on an immigration detainer and was deported at least five separate times, according to CBS7. His identity was confirmed by fingerprints taken during his first removal. Ortiz is also facing a driving while intoxicated charge (DWI), according to the Midland County Sheriff's Office website, although it's unclear if this is concerning the hit-and-run. |

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Kansas City mother has been charged in the gruesome death of a 1-month-old child.
Around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, the Kansas City Police Department was called to a house near 41st Street and Forest Avenue. Upon arrival, crews found an unresponsive child who was declared dead at the scene. Detectives said the circumstances around the childโs death were suspicious enough to cause concern and they began an investigation. On Saturday, more information was released by the Jackson County Prosecutorโs Office, including charges against the infantโs mother, Mariah Thomas. Reportedly, first responders at the scene noticed burns on the child, who was not breathing when they arrived. They said Thomas told them that she was putting the child down for a nap but accidentally put the child in the oven instead of the crib. According to the Jackson County Prosecutorโs Office, Thomas โfaces the Class A felony of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st Degree, Death of a Child.โ Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker issued a statement, acknowledging the gruesome nature of the incident: โWe appreciate all first responders who worked this scene and the prosecutors who went to the scene in order to issue these charges. Loved ones are devastated after a grandfather was shot to death after a fender bender in San Bernardino County.
The incident happened on Feb. 5, as the victim, Jonathan Mauk, 59, drove to a Walmart in Highland on an errand run. At around 8 p.m., Jonathan arrived at the parking lot and was searching for an open spot. As he drove down an aisle, the female suspect was backing out of a parking spot. โFor whatever reason, the victim stopped and slowly backed his vehicle up and thatโs when he had a collision with the suspectโs vehicle,โ explained Capt. Nelson Carrington with the San Bernardino Police Department. Police said the impact was minor, resulting in a scratch or two. When Jonathan got out of his car to apologize, thatโs when the suspect allegedly stepped out of her car and shot Jonathan in the face before driving off. The nigress suspect was later identified as Shawntece Norton, 36, according to San Bernardino police. When officers arrived at the scene, John was found with a gunshot to his head and was pronounced dead. Loved ones are struggling to process the news of Johnโs death as they remember a man who loved his family. David Hiner was arrested for his alleged role in the murders of 58-year-old Shannon Lassere and 52-year-old Marianne Weis, committed just days apart. Online court records show Hinerโs initial hearing was set for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in Marion Superior Court 20. โThis was brutal and evil what happened to them,โ said Acting Chief Chris Bailey of Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department during a news conference to announce the arrests. โThese women defended themselves the best they could.โ Police on Jan. 27 found the body of Weis and on Feb. 1 found Lassere dead. Both bodies were found about 150 yards apart near 21st Street and Mitthoeffer Road on the east side of Indianapolis. The Marion County Coronerโs Office determined both women were killed by multiple sharp force injuries. Detectives say videos from businesses in the area showed a male and one of the women together on the the night of each murder. On Tuesday, detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Departmentโs Human Trafficking and Vice Unit located a male they believed was the person in the video. The suspect, Hiner, was later pulled in to speak with homicide detectives. Police on Wednesday executed a search warrant at the Hinerโs apartment in the 2200 block of Harbor Drive. Detectives found shoes in his apartment that appeared to have dried blood on them. A pair of jeans were also found soaking in a bucket of bleach in the bathtub. The shoes were sent to the lab for expedited DNA analysis, police say, which later matched the blood of both victims. |

A Bond Hill man accused of throwing a woman's dead body out of an apartment window is now facing charges for her murder.
According to Cincinnati police, the body was discovered back in October in the 1600 block of Anita Place. Upon arrival, officers located a victim behind the building. Cincinnati Fire Department personnel responded and determined the 44-year-old woman was dead. In October, Anthony Howard, 53, was charged with abuse of a corpse, obstructing official business and tampering with evidence in a death investigation. Court documents also allege Howard admitted to having an ongoing sexual relationship with the victim and initially lying to investigators. On Friday, Howard was indicted on murder, involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault charges. Howard is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center with no bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 15. |

Irvin was arrested February 2, just days after police say the were intentionally taken from their zoo enclosure, which had been cut open. Two days before Irvinโs arrest, police found the monkeys unharmed in the closet of a Dallas-area home. The indictment alleges that Irvin entered a building without the zooโs consent on the day the monkeys disappeared and โdid then and there commit a theft.โ |

Chinese hackers had access to US infrastructure for 'at least 5 years' before discovery
Chinese hacking groups maintained access to U.S. infrastructure systems for "at least five years" before they were discovered recently, according to a new report from U.S. security groups.
The Joint Cybersecurity Advisery issued its findings on Wednesday, saying that Chinese hackers had access but remained dormant inside U.S. systems. The hackers have infiltrated "Communications, Energy, Transportation Systems, and Waste and Wastewater Systems Sectors โ in the continental and non-continental United States and its territories." The advisory is made up of U.S. law enforcement groups as well as security groups from the allied nations of Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the U.K. The report states that the cyber operation's goal was not intelligence gathering, but instead to gain access to and control critical infrastructure across the U.S. The report adds that the hackers could wreak havoc on U.S. systems in the event of a major conflict between the U.S. and China. |

(CNN) โ The man accused in a 2021 triple homicide, including the killing of golf pro Gene Siller, pleaded guilty to murder charges Friday and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, prosecutors said.
Bryan Anthony Rhoden, 26, pleaded guilty to 17 counts including several felony murder charges in the killings on July 3, 2021, at a golf country club in the Atlanta area, according to a news release from the Cobb County District Attorneyโs Office. Rhoden was arrested and charged days after the fatal shootings of Siller as well as Paul Pierson and Henry Valdez at the Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Georgia, about 25 miles north of Atlanta. At the time, police said Siller was shot dead on the country clubโs golf course because he witnessed a crime involving Rhoden and the other two men. Rhoden and Valdez met with Pierson at an auto shop in Jonesboro, Georgia, which is about 40 miles south of the country club. Pierson was instructed to bring marijuana to the meeting, the district attorneyโs office said. At some point, Rhoden held Valdez and Pierson captive with zip ties and duct tape before placing them in the back of a truck later found on the golf course, the district attorneyโs office added. Then police were called to the country club to a report of a person shot. They found 46-year-old Siller โ who was the clubโs director of golf โ shot in the head near the green of the courseโs 10th hole, police said at the time. A Columbia man was convicted of murder Thursday afternoon for a 2022 shooting that killed a man at a Manheim Township nightclub.
A jury found Tyler Wilson, 29, guilty of all charges against him, including third-degree murder, for the March 2022 killing of 25-year-old Jatavis Scott outside of Club Twenty3 in Manheim Township, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney's office. Wilson also was convicted on charges of illegal possession of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license and eight counts of recklessly endangering another person. The 12-member jury deliberated three hours after a four-day trial before finding Wilson guilty, returning a verdict around 3 p.m., according to the district attorney. Prosecutors showed footage of Wilson and Scott arguing inside the now-closed Club Twenty3 on March 29, 2022, which resulted in a fight. Security moved the men outside. The argument continued outside and culminated in Wilson pulling out a firearm and shooting Scott twice. Scott was driven to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. v Wilson is being held in Lancaster County Prison while he awaits sentencing, which has yet to be scheduled. |

Murder charges were filed on May 1 against Jalen Frierson and Hakeem Jackson in the shooting death of Eric Preer on April 23.
Family says the 31-year-old was gunned down while working at a smoke shop on College Avenue to help support his two young daughters and his mother, who has terminal cancer. According to court documents, Jalen Frierson walked into the shop to commit a robbery and shot Preer without warning, while Hakeem Jackson stood as lookout. Frierson and Jackson were also charged with robbery resulting in serious bodily injury. The Hennepin County Attorneyโs Office has charged a man following the weekend shooting of a teenager in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minn.
Ali Abdirashid Jama, 35, has been charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon in the shooting that took place just before 1 a.m. Sunday that seriously injured a 16-year-old boy. Police were dispatched about 12:46 a.m. Sunday to the area of South 5th Street and South 19th Avenue initially on a report of a person breaking into a vehicle and the victim had begun assaulting the suspect, according to dispatch audio. Within two minutes, the dispatcher aired a report of shots fired and a possible shooting at the same location. University of Minnesota police arrived on scene along with Minneapolis officers and had located both the suspect and the victim, according to further dispatches. Police aired that the suspect was in custody and that a male had been shot in the lower back. Further dispatch audio from EMS responders indicated that a 16-year-old male had been shot in the abdomen and back and had been transported to the hospital. |

3 BLACK men wanted for man's death in Norristown arrested in New York: Montgomery County DA 
NORRISTOWN (CBS) -- Three men wanted in connection to a man's death in Norristown on Jan. 20 were arrested in New York Wednesday night.
The U.S. Marshals Service of Philadelphia announced on social media the arrests of 18-year-old Damon Brantley Jr., 29-year-old Daquan Allen and 28-year-old Jerry Butler. They are all waiting to be extradited to Pennsylvania from Broome County Jail. According to the release, Norristown police were alerted about shots fired on West Wood Street and Powell Street around 7:49 p.m. on Jan. 20 and found (black man) William Wallace Carter dead on the sidewalk on the west side of West Wood Street. Officials said a homicide investigation with Norristown police and Montgomery County detectives revealed Brantley of Norristown, Allen of Norristown and Butler of Philadelphia were involved in the armed robbery and killing of Carter. They also identified Brantley as the shooter. The DA's office said video surveillance showed three men robbed Carter and then ran from a gray Toyota RAV4. After the robbery, they said Brantley fired three shots, shooting Carter once in the head, killing him. An extended magazine and ammo found at Brantley's girlfriend's apartment in Norristown also connected him to the shooting, officials said. They also found Brantley driving the RAV-4 multiple times in Cheltenham since the car was reported stolen on Dec. 21, according to the release. Officials said there is more evidence that connects the three men to the armed robbery and fatal shooting. The man is about 6 feet tall, Black, with a medium build and dreadlocks, according to police. He was also wearing gray sweatpants and black shoes. That was the second time a jury had recommended the death penalty for Okafor -- a jury had originally sentenced him to death in 2015, but a change in how the state handles the death penalty led to a resentencing trial; a second attempt ended in a mistrial last year. Zaldivar was supposed to testify against Okafor in a home invasion case. Prosecutors said Okafor masterminded Zalvidarโs execution-style killing, and the attempted killing of two others to prevent them from testifying against him. A grand jury chose not to indict a disturbed Brooklyn man for attempted murder after he attacked three cops with a machete, according to law enforcement sources and union officials.
Jean Blain, 40, is now being held in a psych ward as investigators probe his role in an earlier attack that left a man fearing for his life, sources and the union said. Blain, who goes by the aliases of โInsane Blainโ and โPeter,โ according to sources โ was cuffed Jan. 22 following the violent caught-on-video confrontation with three cops inside his East Flatbush apartment on New York Avenue near Beverley Road, authorities said. But during an appearance in Brooklyn Criminal Court this week, the grand jury cut Blain a break because of his mental health issues, sources said. Blain โ who was initially ordered held without bail โ could still, however, be indicted from assault and weapons charges, the sources said. Heart-pounding bodycam footage obtained by The Post Tuesday captures Blain growing increasingly agitated as a sergeant and two officers โ who responded to an โemotionally disturbed personโ call โ plead with him to be โcooperative.โ The tension boils over when Blain stands on his bed, wielding the long blade. โKnow what? The man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death before dumping her body at a Boston airport before hopping on a flight out of the country was arrested at a nightclub in Kenya, Massachusettes state police announced Tuesday.
Kevin Kangethe, 41, was busted by the countryโs authorities Monday โ three months after cops found the slashed body of Margaret โMaggieโ Mbitu abandoned in a garage at Logan airport. Mbituโs family reported her missing on Oct. 30, two days before officials made the gruesome discovery in the Central Parking lot. The 31-year-old nurse was found with massive slash wounds to her face and neck, as well as other puncture wounds to her sides, with officers noting she showed โobvious signs of death.โ The car, registered to Kangethe, was covered in blood, police noted. Cops quickly determined Kangethe was a suspect, but he had already left the country for Kenya. |

Kwavaughn Buckley was charged with first-degree murder and armed burglary with assault or battery.
WINTER PARK, Fla. โ Following a days-long search, deputies say they arrested a man Tuesday afternoon in Winter Haven who was wanted for killing another man. Kwavaughn Buckley, 23, is facing charges of first-degree murder and armed burglary with assault or battery. On Thursday evening, Buckley broke into the home of 36-year-old Jeremiah Aguirre on Lauderdale Court in Poinciana, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Buckley reportedly shot Aguirre twice, with one of the bullets hitting his abdomen and killed him. Deputies say Buckley appeared to have killed Aguirre due to jealousy over a woman. Aguirre's body was found by his family a couple of days later at his home, authorities said. โI want to acknowledge not only the great work by our Homicide detectives, but also the Winter Park Police Department in capturing our murder suspect," Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement. "They also recovered a firearm that we are working to confirm as the possible murder weapon. With this arrest, a very dangerous man is now locked up.โ The 23-year-old was booked into Orange County Jail and will be transferred to the Polk County Jail at a later time. |
