The mother of the 6-year-old student who shot his teacher at Richneck Elementary School earlier this year has been charged in federal court with felony gun charges related to marijuana use.
Deja Nicole Taylor, whose son shot 25-year-old Abby Zwerner in her first-grade classroom, is charged with using a controlled substance while in possession of a handgun. Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF, began investigating Taylor after the Jan. 6 shooting, along with Newport News Police. Though several states have moved to legalize marijuana in recent years — including Virginia in 2021 — the drug remains illegal under federal law. Marijuana remains a controlled substance federally, just like heroin and cocaine, and it’s a federal felony to use it while armed with a gun. (Black) Funeral company owner allegedly shot, killed pallbearer during burial of 10-year-old murder victim
Police charged a funeral service company owner Wednesday, one day after he allegedly shot two people during a burial that his company was organizing at a Maryland cemetery.
One of the victims, 30-year-old Ronald Steven, was a pallbearer, police said. He died at the hospital shortly after Tuesday's shooting at Washington National Cemetery. A second victim, an adult woman, suffered a graze wound. The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit charged 48-year-old Wilson Chavis with first and second-degree murder, attempted first and second-degree murder, and related charges. The violence erupted during the funeral of 10-year-old Arianna Davis, who was shot while riding in a car with her family in Washington, D.C. on Mother's Day, CBS Baltimore reported. Davis died three days later. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the girl's shooter. After the deadly incident at the cemetery, Prince George's County Major Crimes Division Commander David Blazer said the shooting was not related to the funeral. "We believe that this was a dispute totally unrelated to what was going on with the funeral, the circumstances leading up to the funeral, the circumstances to the investigation in D.C., this was totally independent of that," Blazer said Tuesday. |

An Oklahoma board has denied clemency for Jemaine Cannon, who was convicted of the 1995 murder of Tulsa resident Sharonda Clark.
The 3-2 vote clears the way for Cannon's July execution by lethal injection. "I am deeply disheartened that the act of defending my life and the acts that she initiated against me ever happened," Cannon, who insists the killing was an act of self-defense, told the board via a video feed. "The ending of human life was never desired, planned or premeditated." A state board in Oklahoma voted Wednesday to deny recommending clemency for a man convicted of stabbing a Tulsa woman to death with a butcher knife in 1995, clearing the way for his planned execution next month. In a 3-2 vote, the Pardon and Parole Board voted against clemency for Jemaine Cannon, 51, who is scheduled to receive a lethal injection on July 20. Cannon was convicted of killing 20-year-old Sharonda Clark, with whom he had been living after he had escaped from a prison work center in southwest Oklahoma. At the time, Cannon had been serving a 15-year-sentence in connection with a violent assault of another woman. |

A twisted Maryland mom and daughter are charged with dismembering the family’s matriarch with a chainsaw — then grilling the body parts to get rid of them — following a fight about a credit card, cops said.
Margaret Craig, 71, had been dead for more than a week when police made the grisly discovery Friday at the kin’s Hill Road home in Landover during a welfare check. “When the officers entered the basement, they immediately smelled the odor of decomposition,” Prince George’s County Police Department said in a statement. A preliminary investigation conducted by homicide detectives has determined that Candace Craig allegedly killed her mother back on May 23. The following day, her 19-year-old daughter, Salia Hardy, allegedly helped Craig dispose of her grandmother’s body. According to the police, Margaret’s daughter, 44-year-old Candace Craig, answered the door and allowed cops to look for the older woman. |

AURORA, Colo. — The woman accused of causing the death of her 5-year-old daughter was formally charged Tuesday morning.
Alexus Nelson, 27, appeared in Arapahoe County District Court where she learned of the charges against her. They include: Child abuse - knowing/reckless causing death Tampering with a deceased human body Attempt to influence a public servant Remains believed to belong to her daughter, 5-year-old Maha Li Hobbs, were found inside a small plastic bag in a utility closet at Nelson's apartment in 1000 block of South Elkhart Way in Aurora on Thursday, according to the Aurora Police Department (APD). Detectives also observed that the fireplace had recently been used. Police responded to the apartment last Tuesday for a welfare check related to Maha after a phone call from her grandmother about "concerning text messages" from Nelson. According to an arrest affidavit from APD, Nelson told officers she had given up Maha for adoption about a month ago but gave conflicting stories about that adoption and was eventually arrested on charges related to attempting to influence a public servant. There is new movement in the extradition of Kyron Fazande. He's the 22-year-old suspect in the deadly Mandina's restaurant shooting.
Fazande was taken out of the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office Monday and is back in New Orleans. A source confirms to WDSU extradition detectives left Monday morning to retrieve the 22-year-old and returned the same day. According to the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office inmate list Fazande was processed into the Orleans Justice Center just before 8 p.m. Tuesday he appeared at Criminal Court, emotionless. No bond was set, and another hearing was scheduled for next week to determine if bond would be set. Fazande is accused of shooting and killing a black waiter, Hilbert Walker III, 23, on April 28. A 54-year-old woman from Chicago who was inside at the time of the shooting was also injured. He's charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder in this case. Two people found dead in Haltom City home in possible murder-suicide, police say 
Haltom City police are investigating the deaths of two people in a possible murder-suicide on Wednesday. About 12:30 p.m., officers and detectives responded to a house in the 5600 block of Santa Fe Trail, where a shooting was reported, police said in a news release.
Officers found two adults inside the residence, both dead. Based on preliminary information, police said, they are investigating the deaths as a possible murder-suicide. A resident of the neighborhood told the Star-Telegram that the people found dead were a man and a woman. The woman was identified by relatives as Laura Carter. A family member said Carter lived with her boyfriend. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man who died as Shallum Jarius Bluford, 41. Authorities have not yet publicly confirmed Carter’s identity. Bluford lived at the house where he was found dead, according to the medical examiner’s records. (Black) 24-year-old turns himself in for deadly shooting at an Eatonton gas station
EATONTON, Ga. — A man is dead after a shooting at a gas station in Eatonton, according to Police Chief Howell Cardwell.
The shooting happened on Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Shell gas station located at 204 East Sumter Street. 32-year-old Fredrick Lamar Scott Jr. was shot and killed after an argument at a gas pump. Cardwell said they've secured arrest warrants for 24-year-old Lajuan Peire Evans. Scott was killed with a single shot to the chest. Cardwell said Evans had the gun in his hand the entire time he was pumping gas. The two were seen talking back and forth before Evans shot Scott, according to Cardwell. Evans turned himself in on Monday night and was charged with Malice Murder. The Morgan County and Putnam County sheriff’s offices assisted in the investigation. |

Bradenton police are looking for a Tropicana employee who shot another employee at the company’s plant on Monday, police said in a news release Tuesday morning.
The shooting happened at 10:24 p.m. at the Tropicana plant on 9th Street East in Bradenton. Employees said they saw Demitrius Tyrone Bell, 50, walk into the plant and shoot another employee. Bell left the scene of the shooting in a 2015 black Camaro with Florida license plate QUQF97. Police are actively trying to track him down and are asking the public to contact them if they see him. The man who was shot was taken to the hospital as a trauma patient, and police did not provide an update of his condition. Police believe that Bell and the other employee had a disagreement that led to the shooting, according to the release. No other employees at the plant were injured. Warrants have been issued for Bell’s arrest. He faces charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. |

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – It happened as a jury was being selected.
For years, Henry E. Underwood wrote letters to a federal judge and filed motions that ultimately went nowhere. For years, he tried to find a loophole in the law, spouting what a judge would call “frivolous sovereign-citizen” type claims where he argued anything passed by congress didn’t apply to him under the constitution. He represented himself in legal matters until recently, requesting a public defender. Then he said his attorney was ineffective. He even tried to get married while in jail at one point – all presumably attempts to delay proceedings. But with a trial set to begin Monday and potential jurors waiting to be questioned before hearing evidence in a U.S. District Courtroom that Underwood committed racketeering and murder, that he tried to kill a federal witness set to testify in a separate case, the 29-year-old had a change of heart. And he pleaded guilty. |

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Cheektowaga man was sentenced to five years of probation after he admitted to killing two of his girlfriend’s kittens.
23-year-old Moises L. Germanguerrero of Cheektowaga pleaded guilty in March to Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, a Class E felony. In addition to five years of probation, the court on Monday also banned him from owning animals for the next five years. The Erie County District Attorney’s office said a necropsy determined the cause of death of both animals was blunt force trauma to the head. Prosecutors found through their investigation that Germanguerrero struck the cats in the head with his fist. “This is a disturbing case of a man who killed his own pets,” Erie County District Attorney John Flynn said in a statement. “My office will continue to prosecute animal abusers to the fullest extent of the law.” Prosecutors said Germanguerrero’s girlfriend brought her deceased cat, an 8-month-old male orange tabby named Hunter, to a veterinary hospital following the first incident in March 2021. Seven months later, in October, she brought a 7-month-old male tabby cat named Lue to the SPCA Serving Erie County, where the kitten had to be euthanized due to the severity of its injury. “I want thank the SPCA for not only their work in this investigation, but also for the work they do every day to help animals in our community,” Flynn added. |

(Black) Ex-Florida Gators player sentenced to 25 years in prison for murder of his 'Hispanic' 'baby momma
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Former University of Florida football player Earl “Tony” Joiner was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of a Fort Myers mother in 2016.
According to the State Attorney’s Office, Joiner was sentenced for one count of second-degree murder with a firearm. He pleaded no contest as charged and was adjudicated guilty. Joiner was ordered to have no contact with the victim’s family. The alleged killer played football for the University of Florida from 2004 to 2007. Joiner was arrested on June 8, 2019, in connection to the murder of (Hispanic) Heyzel Obando. Joiner’s arrest came as the Oxygen network’s true crime TV series, Cold Justice, was in town back in 2019 investigating the case with local law enforcement. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the Lake Wales Police Department, and the State Attorney’s Office also aided Fort Myers Police in the investigation. Obando was found dead in her Crestwood Avenue apartment on Valentine’s Day 2016 in Fort Myers at the age of 26. According to the affidavit, she had been shot in the head, with one bullet entering her temple and severing her spinal cord. Joiner called 911 to report that he had discovered the victim bleeding and unresponsive. |

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Markeeta Campbell has been sentenced in connection with a deadly shooting near Fayette Mall.
Police say Campbell killed LaPorschia Stringer in 2019. The shooting happened near Fayette Mall, at the intersection of Nicholasville Road and Wilson Downing. Campbell pleaded guilty in the case back in March. She was originally charged with murder. That charge was amended to manslaughter as part of the plea deal. Campbell’s formal sentencing hearing was held on June 2. She was sentenced to 13 years. |
(Black) Louisville man accused of assaulting woman, vandalizing fallen officers memorial 
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is in custody after police said he punched a woman in the head and damaged the memorial to fallen officers in downtown Louisville over the weekend.
Walter Richards, 38, was arrested around 9:45 p.m. Sunday, not far from the damaged memorial. A Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy called the Louisville Metro Police Department for assistance after he said he saw Richards assault a woman "by punching her head with his fist," according to court documents. The victim told investigators she was at the intersection of 5th and Liberty when a man she didn't know randomly punched her in the head. The victim had "visible injuries to her forehead, including swelling and a knot." After witnessing the assault and calling LMPD, the deputy followed Richards to the "eternal flame" law enforcement memorial at 6th and Jefferson where he "began throwing trash in the flame," causing debris to run down the sides of the memorial according to court documents. Police said both incidents were caught on camera. |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man was arrested Saturday night after police said he slipped unnoticed into a home in Louisville's Poplar Level neighborhood and tried to kidnap a juvenile.
According to court documents, Joyner Jamison was arrested just after 10:30 p.m. on Saturday. Police said the incident took place just before 9 p.m. at a home in Louisville's Poplar Level neighborhood. Jamison allegedly slipped into the home without anyone noticing. He then walked into the upstairs bedroom of a juvenile girl, according to court documents. The girl allegedly told police that he entered her room, walked around for a couple of minutes, then wrapped her in a sheet and picked her up. Police said Jamison tried to leave with her. According to court documents, she yelled and tried to fight him off. At that point, the girl's father came upstairs, saw Jamison and chased him out of the home. At some point during the chase, police said the girl's father grabbed part of Jamison's shirt. He fled the scene, but was later found at the Walgreens near the intersection of Poplar Level Road and Belmar Drive. |

BLACK-ON-WHITE: BLACK South Mississippi man convicted of murder in domestic violence attack on WHITE Coast woman
A jury Thursday convicted a Jackson County man of second-degree murder in the killing of his former girl-(fornication)-friend during a domestic violence attack in South Mississippi.
The Jackson County jury returned the verdict to Judge Kathy King Jackson a short time after deliberating on the case against Terrance Sierra McNaughton, 23. After the jury couldn’t agree on a life sentence, Jackson sentenced McNaughton to 40 years in prison. He will serve the term day for day and is not eligible for parole. “The jury saw the truth and found Terrance McNaughton guilty of second-Degree Murder despite the defendant’s efforts to gaslight them,’ District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath said in a press release. “Nina Cumbest had a voice in the courtroom, and today justice was delivered.” McIlrath and Assistant District Attorney Carolyn Lewis prosecuted the case. ‘Terrance McNaughton stole a beautiful soul who has impacted many, many lives,’ Lewis said in a release. “I am in awe of the strength shown by Nina Cumbest’s daughter, who spoke at the sentencing in this case. She demonstrated incredible bravery and poise in facing her mother’s killer.” The family and prosecutors praised the work of the Gautier Police Department and especially Detective Lt. James McGhee for their work investigating the killing. McNaughton was initially facing a charge of attempted murder in the killing of his ex-girlfriend, Nina Cumbest, but the charge was upgraded following her death months later in November 2021. Cumbest, 27, received the injuries that caused her death when McNaughton ran over her in a pickup truck near a Chevron gas station on Mississippi 57 in Gautier on May 6, 2021. Her mother, Paige Cumbest, said her daughter died at home surrounded by family. Her death came despite his prior arrests for domestic violence for attacks on her as well as her receiving domestic violence protection order to try to keep her safe from harm. PRIOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ARRESTS McNaughton had a history of arrests for attacks on Cumbest. In October 2020, Mississippi authorities first arrested McNaughton on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge in another assault. In another incident on April 24, 2021, McNaughton assaulted her and was charged with another count of misdemeanor domestic violence by simple assault and bonded out of jail again. (Black-on-White) |

The woman accused of killing two of her sons by placing them inside a hot oven was due in court Friday morning for a final plea hearing in Fulton County Superior Court. Lamora Williams was in the court room, but did not appear in front of the judge early Friday morning. The Fulton County Superior Court judge will set a future trial date, but did not announce when that date will be. The case's gruesome details shocked the community, and a local funeral home covered the burial expenses of the two children. The arrest warrant for Williams said in 2017 she placed 1-year-old Ja'Karter Penn and 2-year-old Ke'Yaunte Penn inside an oven and turned it on. According to the arrest warrant, the crimes happened between midnight Oct. 12 and 11 p.m. Oct. 13 -- a span of nearly two days. Authorities said that Lamora Williams called police on that Friday and said her children were dead. Inside the apartment at the time of their deaths was 3-year-old brother Jameel Penn, Jr. who was unharmed. Jameel Penn, Jr., lived with his father after the death of his siblings. A crazed woman wreaked havoc inside a Manhattan park and neighboring businesses Sunday — attacking strangers, smashing glasses and even lunging at a mother and baby, according to wild video and police.
The woman’s rampage in which she seemingly indiscriminately harassed and attacked parkgoers began around 4 p.m. in Tompkins Square Park, police said. First, she allegedly yanked the hair of a woman who was sitting on a lawn and dragged her by the hair several inches, according to the video. She then reportedly lunged towards a mother holding a baby in her arms, causing a crowd of people watching to gasp and yell. The shouts apparently stopped the woman from doing anything to the pair and she left the grassy area in search of her next victim, the footage shows. The woman next smashed a drink onto the pavement and stole a man’s newspaper, ripping it to shreds before getting in a woman’s face as captured on video. Her tirade continued on neighboring streets where she allegedly flipped over a restaurant’s sidewalk table that was occupied by diners, tossed chairs and smashed glassware, according to footage taken at the scene. The video then shows two officers placing the woman in handcuffs as a bystander walks up and tells the cops: “she needs to not be let out — no more.” “You don’t go around beating up strange people in the street — like seven people — pulling their hair, dragging them everywhere,” he said. “Nobody died b—h, nobody,” the erratic woman shouted back at him, according to the video. The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital for a medical examination. She later spit in the direction of a person walking by as the officers guided her into an ambulance, according to the video. One of the officers told her to “cut it out” and another put a surgical mask over her nose and mouth. |

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Quintez Jamal Brantley. Brantley is a person of interest in an aggravated assault incident which took place on May 29, 2023, just after 3:00p.m. in the 1900 block of Walnut Street.
Quintez Brantley is a twenty-two-year-old black male. He is five feet nine inches in height and weighs between one hundred forty and one hundred fifty pounds. He is wanted in Macon-Bibb County for several accounts of Aggravated Assault. Quintez Brantley is believed to be armed and dangerous. |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Four people are accused of forcing a Memphis mother into sex trafficking after allegedly kidnapping her and her baby, according to court documents.
Treasure Akins, 21, Monisha Nelson, 26, Kierra Clark, 26, and Quintarius White, 30, are each charged with kidnapping and sex trafficking, among other charges. On Saturday, Memphis police responded to a disturbance at a hotel in the 3200 block of South Third Street, near the Walker Homes neighborhood. |

MEMPHIS (Black) CRIME: Man accused of setting apartment on fire while kids inside 
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man is arrested and charged after he allegedly set an apartment on fire while kids were inside.
Andrew Hence, 61, is charged with aggravated arson. Officers responded to the arson call on Saturday at 1:00 a.m. on Mclemore Avenue. The victim told police that on Friday, Hence was on his lawn popping fireworks and saying, “I can do what I want. I’ll set this b**ch on fire.” Shortly after the victim’s children, who were inside the apartment, woke him up yelling, “Fire,” according to police. The victim said he was able to settle the blaze and exit the apartment. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A second teen is in custody after a shooting outside Huey’s in East Memphis on April 30.
Patrick Vaughn, 18, faces a laundry list of criminal charges in connection to the shooting, which involved an off-duty police officer. Vaughn was given a $250,000 bond on charges of: possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, theft of property, possession of a controlled substance, dug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a weapon, no driver’s license, burglary of a vehicle, speeding, violation of probation, evading arrest, reckless endangerment, and 5 counts of aggravated assault. Chase Harris, 19, was arrested in early May after being tied to the shooting. Harris was released from the hospital from injuries sustained during the shootout before investigators were able to tie him to the shooting. |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A Memphis woman has been charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
On May 30, 2023, officers responded to a disturbance near Walnut Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Avenue. When officers arrived, they spoke with Erika Alexander, 34, who originally gave a false name. However, when Alexander provided her identification, records showed that she had an active warrant for her arrest. According to court documents, Alexander became irate and combative when an officer attempted to place her in handcuffs. She continued to resist arrest and proceeded to strike one of the officers in the face with her elbow. While forcing Alexander into the police car, the officer was struck three more times. The officer later reported slight swelling and bruising due to the assault. |

The homicide happened around 5:30 p.m. on May 17. 19 News spoke to his father and sister, who said the irony is George hated guns and they never imagined he’d lose his life to gun violence. “I knew that eventually that somehow the gun violence in this country was gonna affect us directly I just never knew it was gonna be my son and we were shocked but in another way, we weren’t shocked because we know this happens almost every day so yeah we’re just stunned,” said George Jensen, George’s father. According to officials, the victim was traveling eastbound when the suspect, who was traveling in a black 2018 or newer Chevy Camaro, fired multiple shots. After the shooting, the victim crashed into a concrete median. “We all sort of knew,” said Jensen Sr. “We just knew it wasn’t good news. It was a blue Mazda we had heard on Facebook, so we knew it was him and sure enough, we got the bad news together. I’m glad we were all there together.” Norton police and Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene for a report of a single-car accident. When they arrived, they realized Jensen had been shot several times. EMS transported Jensen to Akron General Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 6:14 p.m. Jensen’s little sister Emma said he was a great big brother, but she’s furious that his life was cut short. “I’m a teacher so every day I wake up and it’s like I don’t know if I’ll be home tonight,” Emma said. “You hear of all these school shootings and it’s just, it’s so pointless. It makes no sense so the best thing they could do to honor Geo’s life is to do something about the problem and the problem is the guns.” George’s father said his son, sometimes known as “Geo” was a loving husband and his firstborn son. He said his son had a passion for music, cooking, and loved animals including all of his dogs, cats, and birds. “He was someone that was never afraid to do something different,” the father said of his son. “He would take a car apart. He was a great mechanic and also, we bought a computer earlier in the 90s and he just jumped on that and he’s been in IT his whole career. He was a good software guy.” Norton police said after the shooting, the driver of the Camaro continued eastbound on I-76 eastbound. “Well, the thing that would jump off the page to me is that he was adamant against gun violence and owning guns,” said George. “It was the last thing I would’ve thought would’ve ever happened to him. I think the thing is he and all of us in this family we know to vote for people that will help do something about this and that’s what we need. We need politicians that are gonna step up and do something.” The family said police had at least four witnesses to the shooting to help track down Jensen’s killer. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Thursday, Harris County court records show. Jurors for the upcoming trial were screened individually instead of as a group throughout the month of May, per an agreement between prosecutors for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, defense attorneys for Armstrong and Judge Kelli Johnson, because the years-long case has garnered extensive media coverage. The killer then tried to take his own worthless life by overdosing. “Try to commit suicide before you do any of this,” the judge told him. “Take yourself out so you don’t kill people and try to rape 5-year-olds.” Prosecutors said Williamson, who knew the slain victim’s long-term girlfriend Nichole Guertin, had gone to the family’s home the night of Sept. 23 to smoke crack while Matthews was working the overnight shift. Guertin testified during the trial that Williamson slashed her throat with a knife and zip-tied her wrists and ankles when she refused to role play for him — before he then turned on the kids and attacked them. When Matthews returned home from work, Williamson struck him with the hammer and cut his throat. Guertin testified that she managed to escape the home with her daughter and was able to call for help. When cops arrived, they discovered Matthews’ body inside the home and his bloodied and severely injured son tied up in a closet. FALL RIVER — A Fall River man was arraigned on a murder charge after allegedly shooting and killing a New Bedford woman inside a local car wash on Monday.
Angelo O. Leo, 33, is charged with murder in the killing of Jessenia Simmons. Fall River police and EMS responded to a 911 call for gunshots fired at the Globe Car Wash on Broadway early in the afternoon on Monday, May 29. There, they found Jessenia Simmons’ body in one of the car wash bays. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Simmons, 45, was the mother of two children aged 14 and 16, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors said Leo and Simmons were previously in a relationship, and that Leo harassed and threatened Simmons repeatedly for years. He damaged her car, destroyed other property, sent threatening text messages and at times threatened her with a knife and gun. Simmons acquired a restraining order against Leo earlier this month Prosecutors say surveillance footage from the car wash shows Leo assaulting Simmons over the course of about a minute, dragging her out of her car, stabbing her, and then, when she was already on the ground with a serious stab wound, shooting her. |

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - It’s been over a week since 16-year-old James Moore was shot and killed in Fargo and after a press conference on Wednesday, there are new details about the four individuals arrested in the case so far.
31-year-old Marcus Rexrode, 19-year-old Fabian Scott, and 41-year-old Marcus McCuin are all facing a murder charge, and additional weapons or drug-related charges. Rexrode was the first one arrested. Scott was taken into custody during a swat raid in West Fargo Tuesday night. McCuin’s arrest was announced Wednesday. And 36-year-old Tommie Trent was arrested on “conspiracy to delivery marijuana”. This is not the first time some of these men have encountered police. Some of these men involved in Moore’s death have a criminal history in Cass County though none to this level. |

In the ongoing trial of former NFL footballer Travis Rudolph, Juliann Brandt, a seasoned CSI veteran of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, took the stand Wednesday morning and detailed the evidence gathered from the crime scene.
Brandt faced multiple questions from the prosecution regarding the photos she had taken. These photographs included evidence found inside the vehicle that the four men had departed from Rudolph's house in, as well as images of Sebastian Jean Jacques, the man who lost his life in the shooting. Among the key findings highlighted by Brandt were multiple blood stains discovered in front of Travis Rudolph's home. Additionally, several firearms were found inside the Rudolph residence. Travis Rudolph stands accused of shooting two individuals, resulting in the death of one, outside his family's Lake Park home in April of 2021. Rudolph has claimed self-defense as his defense strategy throughout the trial. |

DECATUR — Three arrests have been made so far in connection with the murder of Cameron K. Taylor, Decatur police said.
Taylor was discovered Feb. 6 by officers responding to reports of a person being shot in a residence in the 500 block of South 19th Street. A coroner's jury was told Taylor was shot in the head and sustained three gunshot wounds to his arms along with numerous other lacerations, abrasions and contusions. The injuries, the coroner's jury was told, were inflicted by two to four subjects who smashed their way into Taylor's home. Lt. Scott Rosenbery said in a news release that interviews conducted as part of the ongoing investigation led to the arrest(s) (of) Markiya L. Currie-Willis, 23; Kearius R. Evans, 22; and Jarvis J. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested Harold Samuel, 25, on Friday in connection with a Feb. 20 murder in the Pine Forest neighborhood.
On Feb. 20, around 7:20 p.m., officers responded to Pine View Circle in reference to multiple calls of gunfire being heard in the area, JSO said. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 21-year-old man who had been shot multiple times near the edge of the roadway. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department tried to help the victim, but he died from his injuries. Samuel had an existing warrant for his arrest for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon related to a separate incident. |

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 17-year-old boy was arrested Monday and accused in connection with a Jacksonville double murder in March.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, two men were shot and killed inside a Fort Caroline Road apartment on March 1. JSO said interviews and evidence pointed to Darien Mixson as the suspect in the shooting deaths. On Monday, an arrest warrant was obtained and served on Mixson, who was already in jail on other charges. JSO said in March the Ribault High School student was facing multiple charges — including car theft and possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent — in connection with the shooting. JSO said it used GPS and a K-9 to help track down Mixson who was accused of taking a car from the crime scene. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a witness inside the apartment called 911, and a family member told News4JAX when police arrived they found a man, identified by family as Craivon Aiken, and another man dead. |

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was arrested and charged with murder in connection to a shooting Monday in downtown Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
According to a report, a murder investigation led to the arrest of Quincy McFadden Cromer, 35, after police responded to a shooting around 8 a.m. at the intersection of North Broad Street and West Ashley Street. When officials responded to the call they found a man, believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s, on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was taken to the hospital and died from his injuries. JSO said the shooting might have been the result of a dispute. Investigators believe someone was throwing rocks at vehicles in the area and it escalated to a shooting between strangers. The shooting happened next to the Clara White Mission, which is a nonprofit that feeds, houses, and gives job training to those in need. Michelle Maule is the marketing director and community liaison. “We have about 22 folks living in our transitional housing program. And so they were okay,” Maule said. “We hope that the services we provide can avoid situations like this so that people don’t become victimized by violence.” Maule said none of the center’s residents were involved in the shooting and the center was operating as normal as of Monday. Maule said it was the second shooting that happened near the center in recent weeks. According to data from JSO, more than 700 crimes have been reported in the downtown area in the past six months. |

State and federal authorities seized Rashid Ali Bynum outside a home in Chesapeake City, Virginia, at about 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday and charged him with first-degree murder and a pair of gun offenses, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said during a press conference. “The murder has shaken the community, and no arrest will bring back the late councilwoman,” Ciccone said. “However, I do trust that justice will be found through the criminal justice process.” Bynum, who lives in Portsmouth, Virginia, is awaiting extradition to the Garden State. When he arrives, he will be held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional facility while he waits for a pre-trial detention hearing in the state Superior Court. Aja Rashaud Bailey, 30, was taken into custody on Friday after an investigation by the JSO Homicide and Crime Unit. According to a release by JSO, officers found a man lying in the front yard of a residence on West 31st Street. Members of JFRD also responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. After investigating and based on the evidence gathered, Bailey was identified as the suspect. A warrant was obtained, and he was arrested for murder. |

Thursday, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a federal lawsuit against Griffin, accusing him of running a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme primarily targeting Jacksonville residents.
According to the SEC, Griffin promised clients high returns from his work flipping houses but actually spent their money to pay other investors and himself. According to the SEC lawsuit, Griffin scammed 103 victims into investing at least $5,895,024 into his businesses, “G8 Equity” and “G8 RE Capital,” from January 2020 to at least December 2021 in what turned out to be a Ponzi scheme. An anonymous Bluegrass Crime Stoppers tip led officers to Cowan more than a month later. Cowan also pled guilty to wanton endangerment and possession of a gun by a convicted felon. A Tampa, Florida, man was arrested on Sunday afternoon after allegedly pouring gasoline on another man and setting him ablaze, according to law enforcement officials.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that at about 4:30 p.m. on May 28, two men got into a verbal argument at a Mobile gas station on 22nd Street in Tampa. Earl Hargrove, Jr., 34, was one of the men in the argument, and after the confrontation, police said, he purchased some gasoline from the pump. Hargrove then allegedly poured the gas on the victim before lighting him on fire. The sheriff’s office did not identify the victim, but said he was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he is listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. A BLACK Arizona man was arrested for allegedly shooting five people, killing four and injuring a fifth, during a string of shootings between Friday and Saturday.
The Mesa Police Department arrested Iren Byers, 20, after he allegedly confessed to all five shootings while in custody for trespassing, FOX 10 in Phoenix reported. When Byers told police he committed the crimes, he told detectives where the handgun was located and where the clothes were that he wore when he shot the individuals. After retrieving the handgun, detectives were able to link the firearm to another murder that happened on Friday in Phoenix, near 24th and Oak streets. The victim, 41-year-old Nicholas Arnstad, was found dead next to a canal in the area. Police said Byers admitted to killing Arnstad, adding that security footage from each of the crime scenes linked the suspect to the shootings. The news outlet reported that the Mesa Police provided a timeline of the shootings. At about 10:30 p.m. on May 26, police found a 41-year-old man dead near Main Street and Alma School Road. As police investigated the body, they heard gunshots, and at about 12:15 a.m., officers found a 36-year-old woman who was shot on Main Street. She was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for her injuries. About 45 minutes later, another 41-year-old man’s body was located at a bus station near Broadway Road and Country Club Drive. Then, at 2 a.m., police found another body of an adult man near 2nd Avenue. Mik'Tavis Green appeared in Appomattox County Circuit Court for sentencing in the murder of Carlos Rose. Green was sentenced to 88 years in prison with 63 of those years suspended. So, he will serve an active sentence of 25 years. He previously pled guilty to an amended charge of felony murder, which by statute is second-degree murder. Back in October 2020, the body of Rose was discovered in a burned-out vehicle in the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest. Green was sentenced to 88 years in prison with 63 of those years suspended. (Black) Man found guilty in South Cumminsville fatal shooting
CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A man accused of killing a 29-year-old back in April 2020 was found guilty Thursday by a Hamilton County jury.
Prosecutors say, Dylan Hurt, 27, and his accomplice were involved in two separate drive-by shootings that resulted in two people being injured and the death of David Norwood. According to police, Norwood was found dead along Cass Avenue. Since Hurt and Leaunte Baltimore used a vehicle that was rented by a friend, police say they were able to connect both shootings to Hurt in addition to ballistics evidence. In 2019, Hurt was accused of shooting and killing Joseph Brooks, but court documents say he was found not guilty after a bench trial. Hurt was convicted of aggravated murder, attempted murder and felonious assault. He is expected to be sentenced next week and could face life in prison without parole. |

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Clayton County corrections officer was arrested and fired Thursday night. He's now accused of arranging a "vicious attack" on an inmate, according to a release from Sheriff Levon Allen.
Corrections Officer Sean Hollinshead was taken into custody after the attack took place on an inmate in his custody, the sheriff said. A release stated Hollinshead faces criminal negligence and violation of oath charges, "when he knowingly, recklessly, and without disregard for the safety of the inmate placed him in a high-risk housing unit." The sheriff said this led to a beating and stabbing-- causing the inmate to be critically hurt. According to the sheriff's office, Hollinshead did not help the inmate. "I locked up one of my own tonight and will continue to surgically remove any officers or deputies from my rank and file that places Citizens, Inmates, or Employees at risk," Levon said in the release. The sheriff's office said there were several other inmates involved and they are also facing additional charges. |

ATLANTA — An officer shot in the head on Tuesday night is heading home after undergoing surgery at Grady Hospital, according to the department.
Officer Rashad Rivers was supposed to leave the hospital on Saturday morning but ended up leaving around 2 p.m. The department said he was headed home with a police escort. Reports from the department earlier in the week said Rivers was in good spirits. Rivers was shot in the line of duty on May 23 at the OYO Hotel on Alcovy Road; police said after officers said they initially responded to the hotel at 10:30 p.m. for a domestic fight. They added a man confronted the first officer on the scene with a gun. The two eventually began shooting at each other, with the officer -- Rivers -- being shot in the head. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified the suspect as 23-year-old Treyvorius Stodghill. The agency said a second responding officer arrived at the scene and saw Stodghill, who was allegedly pointing a gun at Rivers-- who was already down. "Stodghill was shot and killed by a Covington Police Officer during the incident," the GBI said in a news release. They will conduct an autopsy on Stodghill's body. As for Rivers, the police department said he joined the police force in 2023 after earning the Leadership Award for his class. After the shooting, the police department asked the community to keep Rivers in their thoughts. "We ask that you continue to keep Officer Rivers, his family, our City family and all public safety personnel who were involved in your prayers as the healing process begins," the department said on social media. CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A jury declined to recommend the death penalty Wednesday for a man who raped, stabbed and strangled 25-year-old Andrea Boyer before beating her to death with a fire extinguisher in 2007.
The penalty phase for Michael Renard Jackson began Tuesday after he was found guilty Saturday in his retrial in Boyer’s murder. A jury in 2010 took just 20 minutes to recommend death for Jackson, but the vote was 9-3. This time, for the jury to recommend death, the vote had to be unanimous. Closing arguments were made Wednesday in the penalty phase as the same jury that found Jackson guilty last weekend weighed Jackson’s sentence — either life in prison or death. Jurors then deliberated for just over 90 minutes Wednesday before returning to the courtroom and saying that they had unanimously found that the state had proven that aggravating factors existed in the case. But they also agreed that the defense had established mitigating circumstances. For at least one of the jurors, the aggravating factors did not outweigh the mitigating circumstances, and the jury, therefore, declined to recommend the death penalty. Amber Cochlin, Boyer’s sister, said she respects the jury’s verdict. “In the beginning when it first happened to my sister, yes, I wanted him dead,” Cochlin said. “I wanted an eye or an eye but that’s not who I am now and that’s not who my sister was, and I can’t put that on anybody else. It’s God’s place and God alone to take somebodies life when he’s ready.” Jackson will be formally sentenced March 13. The state attorney’s office released a statement that reads: “Michael Jackson has been convicted for the brutal murder and rape of Andrea Boyer. Her family and the Clay County community can finally rest in knowing that Jackson will never walk our streets again.” Cochlin said she’s been able to forgive Jackson. (AS HE WILL BURN IN HELL FORVER) “He should’ve shown mercy for my sister, my mercy is him having a life without parole and he can never hurt anybody else again,” Cochlin said. “He’ll be in prison with his own kind and that’s where he belongs.” This jury was not allowed to know about Jackson’s 2010 conviction. In fact, if the state brought it up during the penalty phase, it would have been an immediate mistrial. The Florida Supreme Court threw out Jackson’s 2010 conviction after finding Clay County deputies made prejudicial comments on the stand. The retrial in Boyer’s murder saw years of delays because of the pandemic and a fight over DNA evidence found on the suspected murder weapon, a fire extinguisher. Boyer was found dead in January 2007 at the Wells Road veterinary clinic where she worked. DNA collected from a rape kit done on Boyer’s body matched Jackson, who had been previously convicted of rape and burglary in the mid-1980s and sentenced to 30 years in prison. He was released early and was not out for long before Boyer was killed. Jackson showed no emotion when he heard, for a second time, that he had been convicted of Boyer’s rape and murder. But he was very emotional Tuesday as evidence was presented in the penalty phase. He was seen crying several times. There was a lot of emotion from Boyer’s side, as well. “People who weren’t even alive then are affected by how Andrea was taken from us. Don’t walk with your headphones in by yourself. Be aware of your surroundings. Look around before you get out of the car even at our house,” said Boyer’s sister-in-law. The jury could not weigh victim impact statements in with their decision. Jurors were told how loving, caring, and determined Boyer was. |

What is a hyrax?
The hyrax is also called rock rabbit or dassie, is a small furry mammal. It looks like a robust, oversized guinea pig, or a rabbit with rounded ears and no tail. The jury trial for Marcus Jayon Anderson, Nakeyah Shields and Alijah Jones began Monday, close to three years after the fatal shooting of Christopher Beaty on May 30, 2020. Anderson was found guilty of two counts of murder and eight counts of armed robbery, while Jones was found guilty of murder and eight counts of armed robbery and Shields was found guilty of murder and seven counts of armed robbery, court records show. The 15-minute crime spree in 2020 climaxed with the death of Beaty, 38, near his downtown residence. |

ST. LOUIS — A transaction through an escort website ended Sunday with one man killing another outside a St. Louis motel, according to charging documents filed Friday.
Arthur Ross, 20, of St. Louis, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action Friday in the death of Kevin Anderson, 27, of Indianapolis. Anderson was found shot about 2:30 a.m. in a stairwell at America's Best Value Inn, at 1100 Lumiere Place Boulevard, near the St. Louis riverfront and died at a hospital. The shooting stemmed from a confrontation about a transaction related to an escort website, St. Louis police wrote in charging documents. Ross is accused of leaving one of the motel rooms and heading toward a car, followed by Anderson. Police allege Ross then shot Anderson through a car window. Anderson ran 20 to 30 feet before collapsing the stairwell, charging documents say. Police collected surveillance video from the area and a witness identified Ross in a photo lineup as the shooter, charging documents say. Ross has two pending charges for unlawful possession of an illegal weapon and delivery of a controlled substance. |

UPDATE (5/25) – 30-year-old Anthony Donnell Baldwin Jr., who was shot by a deputy on Wednesday after Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators pursued him in connection with a November 2022 homicide, has been released from the hospital and is now in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
Baldwin is charged with murder, two counts of aggravated assault and probation violation in connection with the November 2022 death of Claudette Brown. Baldwin is being held without bond. MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) are investigating a deputy-involved shooting that happened at Tindall Fields apartments just before 6 p.m. Wednesday. According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release, investigators in an unmarked vehicle were attempting to locate a suspect wanted in connection with the November 14, 2022, homicide of Claudette Brown. They spotted 30-year-old Anthony Donnell Baldwin Jr. driving a Chevy Yukon on Houston Avenue. Deputies say the vehicle was believed to be stolen and had a license plate that did not match its registration. The investigators, without lights or sirens, followed Baldwin’s vehicle as he made his way to Tindall Fields apartments. Once Baldwin stopped the Yukon, deputies say he got out with a pistol. “It was during this time that an investigator fired shots and Baldwin was struck,” the release stated. |
2nd (Black) man arrested in connection with Jacobs neighborhood homicide
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A second man has been arrested in connection with a homicide that took place in the Jacobs neighborhood on May 3.
Alicia Smiley, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police, said 19-year-old Corionte Fant was arrested Friday afternoon while in the 2300 block of Ralph Avenue. He's been initially charged with murder and wanton endangerment. The shooting took place in the 2400 block of Nichols View Court near Jacob Elementary School. Jo'Cori Harris Jr., 30, died at the hospital following the shooting. On May 9, 52-year-old Jo'Cori Harris Sr. was also arrested in connection to the homicide. He was initially charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. According to court documents, Harris Sr. was the father to Harris Jr. and Fant was his half brother. Both Harris Sr. and Fant admitted to shooting the victim. |

MIAMI – A Miami man was arrested Thursday after stabbing another man multiple times following a verbal dispute, police said.
According to an arrest report, Anthony Andrew Brown, 35, is facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Miami police said they received a call around 11:30 p.m. of a man being stabbed in the neck at a home near the 2000 block of 27th Avenue. Upon arrival, police found the victim laying on the floor of the home, bleeding profusely from the neck and shoulder area, according to the report. Authorities said fire rescue personnel arrived at the scene where they administered first aid. According to police, Miami Fire Rescue transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition after he suffered multiple stab wounds to his neck and shoulder area. Detectives said they spoke with a witness who said she was inside her home when she heard a noise coming from outside. Another witness told police that he was sitting in his room with the front door open when he saw Brown and the victim insulting each other, which led Brown to follow him with a knife. Authorities said they interviewed a third witness who told them that he was talking to the victim in the patio area of the home when he saw Brown coming at the victim with the knife. Police said the second witness told them that he heard the victim crying out in pain. |

This morning in Appomattox County Circuit Court, 23-year-old Mik'Tavis Elonta Naeshu Green, of Prospect, was sentenced to serve 25 years for his role in the murder of 45-year-old Bedford County resident Carlos Levell Rose on Oct. 20, 2020.
Green received 15 years for second degree murder, five years for desecration of a dead body, three years minimum mandatory for use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and one year each for abduction by force and arson of personal property. Total suspended time on all charges, including conspiracy to commit abduction by force, conspiracy to desecrate a dead body, conspiracy to commit arson of personal property, and destruction of property comes to 63 years. Rose's charred remains were found Oct. 21, 2020 in his own burned 2002 GMC Yukon in the Buckingham-Appomattox State Forest in Appomattox County. His body was only identifiable through DNA testing. According to evidence presented against five co-defendants in the case, Rose was abducted by gunpoint in his vehicle in Madison Heights with a plot by the co-defendants to take him to his home and rob him of money. Rose was known as a marijuana dealer in the Lynchburg area. Green sat in the back seat of the moving vehicle, holding Rose at gunpoint. Fearing for his life, Rose reached for Green's gun. The first shot hit the roof of the car near the back passenger side door jam. The second shot entered the base of Rose's skull. Green shot Rose with a .40-caliber firearm. The driver of the vehicle, Keyanta Ke'Shaun Robinson, also shot Rose in the chest. As a result, the trip to Rose's home was never made. HOUSTON — Patrick Clark, the man accused of killing Migos rapper TakeOff, has been indicted by a Harris County grand jury on murder charges, according to the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
Clark was arrested for murder in connection with TakeOff's death in December 2022. This indictment means a grand jury has formally charged him with murder. TakeOff was shot and killed following a private party at the 810 Billiards and Bowling in Houston on Nov. 1. The Migos rapper was there with his groupmate and uncle Quavo when a dice game outside of the bowling alley led to a heated argument and shooting. The Houston Police Department said Fredrick Brown, 26, and Christin Patrick, 26, have been charged with injury to a child resulting in serious bodily injury in the 208th State District Court. The two are accused in the death of their son, Saint Brown, who was just 2 years old when he died in September 2022. Police responded to reports of the death of a 2-year-old boy, later identified as Saint Brown, at a residence on the 5900 block of Flintlock Road at about 12:45 a.m. on Sept. 25, 2022. When the officer arrived, Saint’s parents, Brown and Patrick, said the child fell down the stairs. |

A San Francisco man was indicted by a federal grand jury and charged with attempted murder and assault after firing a gun at a mail carrier last month.
Using a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol, Vo Nguyen allegedly fired several shots at a United States Postal Service employee who was attempting to deliver a package at his address on Sparta Street in Visitation Valley on April 1, according to Ismail Ramsey, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California. As the carrier was trying to give mail to a woman outside Nguyen’s residence, he reportedly came out of the house, aggressively approaching the mail carrier and yelling at him, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement. The postal employee escaped down the street but later pepper-sprayed Nguyen, after he allegedly chased and caught up to the USPS worker. Prosecutors said Nguyen then allegedly returned to his home, got into a Toyota Land Cruiser and drove back to the mail carrier on a nearby street. Nguyen shot at him seven to eight times, and fired five additional shots as the carrier fled. |

ARLINGTON, Texas — A 42-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly striking her husband to death with a hammer, the Arlington Police Department announced.
Just before 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, Arlington police officers were called to an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Sweetgum Trail in response to a domestic disturbance. According to police, a woman, later identified as My Tran, called 911 and via a Vietnamese interpreter, dispatchers learned she allegedly hit her husband in the head with a hammer. Tran said that her husband asked her to come to the apartment to sign divorce papers. When officers arrived at the apartment, Tran was sitting outside near the apartment door and was immediately taken into custody. Officers then entered the apartment and found the 45-year-old victim "bloody with trauma to his head" inside a bedroom with a hammer nearby, according to the arrest affidavit. He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS, police said. According to the arrest affidavit, once Tran was read her Miranda rights while in custody, she agreed to share what happened via a translator. In an interview with investigators, Tran admitted that she "had built up anger" over the status of her and her husband's relationship, the affidavit stated. Tran said around 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, she retrieved the hammer from her vehicle and debated killing her husband. Once decided, Tran told investigators that she struck her husband at least "six to seven times in his head," before calling 9-1-1, the affidavit says. Investigators said Tran also admitted that she was fully aware of her actions and took responsibility for her husband's death. CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - On Wednesday morning, a jury found Bennie Washington guilty of murder, felonious assault, and gross abuse of a corpse for the murder of Audreona Barnes, 18.
Washington’s jury trial began May 15 in front of Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge William McGinty. Washington, 40, shot Barnes and then left her body on his second-floor apartment balcony in the 4300 block of Warner Rd. in Cleveland. Barnes was reported missing to Warrensville Heights police in July 2021. Family members said she had dreams of joining the Army and met with recruiters the last day she was seen. On March 17, 2022, a manager at Washington’s apartment building entered the apartment and noticed garbage bags and blankets on the balcony. Believing there was a body hidden underneath, the manager called police, said officials. Cleveland police responded to the scene and recovered the severely decomposed body. Washington was taken into custody on March 19, 2022. |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man faces charges after a double shooting at a vacant townhome earlier this month.
Police say Rickey Crutcher admitted to shooting his nephew Levonte Randle at a vacant home on Webbway Drive on May 14.
Police say a man posted an extended gun magazine for sale on Facebook and the ad was answered by Randle. They agreed to meet at the Webbway location. Upon meeting, Randle yelled “door locked!” and shots were fired. Police say Crutcher fired the shot that killed Randle and injured another man. Crutcher is charged with second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and employing a firearm during a dangerous felony. His bond was set at $250,000. |
(Black) Brothers accused of Pompano Beach murder identified, 1 killed by deputies
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Detectives identified two brothers involved in a fatal shooting earlier this month in Broward County as Brandon Prince, 34, of Pompano Beach, and Zonchez Prince, 39, of Jacksonville.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the shooting was reported shortly before 3 a.m. May 12 near the 2300 block of Northwest Sixth Street in Pompano Beach outside the victim’s home. Deputies say they found 32-year-old Andrew Ford suffering from gunshot wounds. A deputy immediately administered life-saving measures until Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived. Unfortunately, Ford was pronounced dead by medical staff. According to BSO spokeswoman Claudinne Caro, detectives later identified the suspects and a warrant was issued for their arrest. Caro said Zonchez Prince was located in Clay County last Friday, but pulled out a gun as Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office SWAT deputies tried to detain him, leading them to discharge their weapons, killing him. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit are the lead agencies investigating that shooting. Caro said BSO deputies, meanwhile, located Brandon Prince in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday and took him into custody during a traffic stop. He was transported to the BSO Main Jail, where he was booked on one count of first-degree murder. |

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (WMC) - A man is facing charges after a road rage shooting in Southaven.
Police were called to the scene on Stateline Road on Tuesday after 9 p.m.
Officers found a victim who had been shot in the thigh. Detectives were able to track down the suspect’s vehicle and determined where the alleged shooter lives. Wednesday, detectives were able to take Cortez Darling into custody and seized his vehicle, which had a gun inside. Darling is charged with attempted murder and drive-by shooting. |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man is arrested and charged with attempted murder after attacking his girlfriend, according to Memphis Police Department.
Jeremy Walls, 33, is charged with attempted first-degree murder.
On May 6, officers responded to a fight call in the waiting room at Regional One Hospital on 877 Jefferson Avenue. The victim told police that she and her boyfriend, Walls, had an argument at his home on Ledger Road. During the argument, Walls became angry and attacked the victim. Walls picked the victim up, slammed her head and neck on the floor, punched her in the face, kicked her in the abdomen, and stomped her chest several times, according to police. According to police, the attack resulted in a concussion, a broken neck, spinal injury, contact with suspected exposure to other diseases, and a lower lobe right lung nodule. The victim must wear a neck, chest, and back brace to keep her spine straight during recovery. |

A Michigan man allegedly murdered his ex-girlfriend on Saturday in front of their young child, according to prosecutors.
Gregory Keyier-Deniro Davis, 43, was charged with first-degree premeditated murder, felon in possession of a firearm, assault with intent to murder, four counts of felony firearm second offense, and felonious assault, according to FOX 2. He was arraigned on Tuesday. Prosecutors said Davis followed Anni Namou to the car dealership Legend Motors, where she worked. Officials said Davis used his car to block her vehicle in. While the woman ran away, Davis is accused of shooting her twice, including one time with a 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun at close range. VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The jury trial for an accused killer in Virginia Beach began Tuesday as a jury was selected and parties made opening statements.
Darius White is charged with aggravated murder for the Dec. 13, 2021 killing of Annie Smith. Prosecutors say that White and his brother, Michael White, robbed Smith’s husband, Steven Smith, as he pumped gas at Harris Teeter. They claim that Darius Smith then grabbed a gun and shot Annie Smith three times as she sat in the passenger seat of the couple’s car. White faces other charges, including robbery resulting in death, robbery using a firearm and three counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, but he will be tried on that count at a later date. Prosecutors nolle prosed, or set aside, a first-degree murder charge. Jury selection lasted more than two hours – the parties seating a 12-person jury and two alternate jurors. HAYWARD, CA -- A man suspected of killing of his former girlfriend in Hayward earlier this month was arrested Monday in Seattle by the U.S. Marshals Service, according to Hayward police.
Vaughn Boatner was arrested in a residential neighborhood with the help of Seattle police and members of the Kings County Sheriff's Office. He was booked on suspicion of homicide, attempted homicide, child endangerment and being a felon in possession of a firearm, and is being held without bail, Hayward police said. He is accused of shooting and killing his former girlfriend, 30-year-old Monique Aldridge, who was also the mother of his (illegitimate) 5-year-old son, on May 11 inside a home in the 100 block of Cassia Drive. Boatner is also suspected of shooting and injuring Aldridge's boyfriend, identified only as a 30-year-old Oakland man. The 5-year-old boy was also at home at the time of the shootings but wasn't injured, police said. |

Killeen, TX - A Killeen family is demanding answers from Killeen ISD after a music teacher — accused of sexually assaulting a young girl at a Killeen elementary school — was allowed to abuse the girl multiple times, even after the girl first reported inappropriate touching to her homeroom teacher.
According to the parent of the Alice Douse Elementary student, the girl told her homeroom teacher about the first encounter in October, but the teacher did not believe her, and repeatedly sent her back to music class over the months that followed, when more abuse reportedly happened. The apparent failed intervention of the teacher was also detailed in the student’s statement written and submitted to school officials in February. The Herald, which has a policy of not revealing the identity of a sexual assault victim, agreed to not use the parent’s name in this article. The parent and daughter have the same last name. The accused music teacher in the case, Makalani Jones, 49, was arrested by U.S. Marshals Monday in North Carolina on a charge aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to the Killeen Police Department, which is investigating the case. Jones worked as a music teacher at Douse Elementary from Aug. 2 last year through Jan. 13, when he resigned, according to KISD. |

Two Lower Mainland gangsters have been charged with murdering Naramata resident Kathy Richardson inside her home two years ago.
Charges were laid Friday against Red Scorpion gangster Ekene “Lololanski” Anigbo and his associate Jalen Falk, according to the online court services database. A third gang associate named Shahram Tokhy, who was targeted in a Chilliwack shooting April 1, has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in Coquitlam, Agassiz, Kelowna and Prince George in May 2021. All three gangsters were in a vehicle that crashed in Quesnel on May 25, 2021. At the time, police connected their vehicle to a drive-by shooting in Prince George hours earlier that targeted Anthony Graham. Graham was uninjured, but he remains a fugitive after being charged along with Richardson’s son, Wade Cudmore, with killing Kamloops brothers Carlo and Erick Fryer. The siblings’ bodies were found near Naramata on May 10, leading police to search Richardson’s house. Friday’s charges suggest that Richardson’s death was connected to the allegations against her son. The hard-working businesswoman, who ran a hair salon out of her home, had been worried about her son in the weeks before her murder, friends told Postmedia back in 2021. 
Richardson bought her house in 2000. The title has since been transferred to Cudmore, who is awaiting trial.

Four days later, he was stopped in Richmond, along with a female associate. “Officers approached the male and female who were detained for investigation when officers located a loaded handgun. Both individuals were arrested for firearms related offences and later released pending further investigation,” a CFSEU news release said at the time. Three weeks later, Richardson was dead. Anigbo was arrested in October 2021 after he carried two loaded semi-automatic firearms into a Richmond hotel lobby. “The only rational inference is the firearms were intended to cause death, harm and fear,” said Vancouver provincial court Judge Reginald Harris as he sentenced Anigbo last September to 33 months on top of his pretrial custody. “His conduct posed a danger to the community and he did so at a time when gun violence and gun possession appears to be rampant.” Both Tokhy and Falk were charged last summer in Manitoba after police alleged they used a drone to drop methamphetamine and fentanyl inside Stony Mountain Institution on July 3. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock police arrested a man Saturday in connection to the shooting death of a 24-year-old man during a violent holiday season two years ago.
According to the Little Rock Police Department, 29-year-old Josh Britton was arrested for his involvement in the killing of Zachary Ester. Police said that Ester was found shot inside of a wrecked truck on Labette Drive two days after Christmas in 2020. Ester’s killing was one of several homicides during that weekend in the capital city. In 2021, officials with the LRPD said that U.S. Marshals arrested 24-year-old Curtland Watson Jr., who was also wanted in Ester’s shooting death. Britton is facing a capital murder charge. Gregory Mallard, 35, of Jersey City was charged Friday with first-degree murder in the death of 32-year-old “beautiful angel” Norelis Mendoza, with whom he shared the two daughters. Mendoza’s body was found Wednesday off Route 440 in Bayonne, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said. Mallard also faces charges including failing to dispose of human remains in a manner prescribed by law, desecration of human remains and hindering and tampering with physical evidence. The suspect, a reputed member the 52 Hoover Street Crips gang, previously served more than 10 years in prison for aggravated manslaughter in the 2008 shooting death of a 19-year-old man during a dispute between rivals, NJ.com reported. Mendoza, a resident of Lindenwold, was discovered dead after she was last seen leaving her mother’s Jersey City home May 13. She was reported missing the next day. |

Powell was 15 years old when investigators said he and another teen crashed an Oak Hill house party and were told to leave, with Powell shooting the homeowner — Joel Tatro, 45, who was hosting the party for his high school children — leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. Tatro died in March 2022 from COVID-19 with complications from the gunshot, according to the medical examiner. According to the arrest affidavit, the situation escalated after Tatro told Powell to leave. Investigators said Powell pulled a gun from his waistband and shot Tatro during a scuffle. She lived in shelters, managing mental disease issues before moving from Seattle to Chicago. Decades after a Macon woman was strangled, investigators identify her and her BLACK killer 
Almost half a century after a woman’s remains were found in Macon, local and state investigators have confirmed her identity and linked her to the most prolific serial killer in U.S. history.
Yvonne Pless was approximately 20 years old when she was strangled in 1977, her body discovered off Riverside Drive in Macon. For decades, Pless’ remains were known as “Macon Jane Doe.” Bibb County investigators joined forces with the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council in 2018 when Samuel Little confessed to killing a Macon woman in 1977 and Fredonia Smith in 1982. Smith, then, 18, was last seen July 10, 1982. Her skeletal remains were discovered in a backyard on Magnolia Street near Washington Park in Macon almost a month later. Clothing, jewelry and a wallet also were found with the bones. In 2019, Bibb Capt. Shermaine Jones and the CJCC’s Amy Hutsell traveled to Wise County, Texas, where Little was being held, to confirm his confessions matched local cold cases, the sheriff’s office said. After interviewing Little, Jones closed both cases and informed Fredonia Smith’s family members. But authorities still didn’t know the identity of Little’s first Macon victim. Last year, Jones and Hutsell used forensic genealogy to identify the remains, discovering one of Pless’ relatives and connecting with her remaining family members. “Thanks to the dedication of Captain Shermaine Jones and Director Amy Hutsell, the family members of Yvonne Pless and Fredonia Smith now have closure concerning their missing or victimized loved one,” Bibb County Sheriff David Davis said. “I believe with continued dedication, teamwork, and advancement in technology, we can bring that same closure to other awaiting families.” Little, who confessed to killing 93 women between 1970 and 2005, died in 2020. Jarrad Nathan, 26, is facing charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Memphis police say Nathan shot into the Memphis news station and later barricaded himself inside a nearby restaurant, shutting down the Highland Strip for hours. CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Witnesses took the stand Wednesday in the jury trial for a dance instructor accused of sexually assaulting more than a half-dozen of his former students.
Terence Greene, 57, was a former teacher at the Cleveland School of Arts near Stearns Road and Carnegie Avenue in Cleveland for 19 years. Witnesses stood in front of Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Kevin Kelley. One witness explained they were the parent of a kid who attended the school. That child stopped attending because of Greene’s alleged actions; the witness claims their kid has not been the same since. Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said from 1998 to 2019, and during his time as the dance teacher, Greene allegedly sexually assaulted nine students, all under the age of 18, in the dressing room of the school, at events they traveled both to in and out of state, in his car, and at his residence near Churchill Avenue and Orville Avenue in Cleveland. Another witness said Greene was in charge of the school’s dance program. The witness described how, one day, while at Greene’s home, he placed his hand on their thigh and asked them about their sexuality. The witness added that, from that moment on, they knew what Greene was capable of. A third witness said they were sexually assaulted by Greene, and now struggles with trust. More still, the witness says they tested positive for HIV, and claims Greene is the one who gave it to them. Walking in Memphis 2 (Black) brothers arrested, 1 held on $5000 bond after car theft, multiple armed robberies 
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Two brothers are in police custody after committing a number of armed robberies, in addition to stealing a vehicle.
On January 26, 2023, the Memphis Police Department discovered a white vehicle that was blocking traffic near the streets of Persons and Castalia. Randall Ballard, the man in question, was approached by the police and immediately fled the scene. Officers checked the VIN and learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen. Upon further investigation. officers recognized Randall as the driver of the stolen vehicle from a series of previous arrests. One of the MPD officers was able to identify him out of a photo lineup. After being identified, Randall Ballard was taken into police custody. Randall Ballard is currently facing a number of charges including theft of property. |

Montgomery County police have charged a man with rape, kidnapping and armed robbery after they say he attacked two women on a Silver Spring, Maryland, hiking trail on Tuesday.
Jose Roberto Hernandez-Penal, 20, of Hyattsville, was charged with first-degree rape, first- and second-degree assault, armed robbery, kidnapping and other weapons-related charges, police announced on Wednesday. According to police, Hernandez-Penal approached two women who were eating lunch along the Northwest Branch Trail around 2:40 p.m. near Burnt Mills East Park off Columbia Pike, and displayed a machete knife, telling the women he intended to rob them. He stole their belongings, then took one of the women and assaulted her before fleeing the scene, police said. ST. LOUIS — Authorities on Monday charged a 41-year-old man with the September murder of a teenager.
Arnaud Jones is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action and unlawfully possessing a firearm. Authorities say 18-year-old Corion Love, of St. Louis, was dropped off at a hospital the morning of Sept. 30 with a gunshot wound to his back. He died a few hours later. Charging documents say Jones admitted to police he fired shots from his apartment window toward people in a car because he suspected they had broken into his vehicle, which was parked on the street. Jones was first arrested Jan. 30 but police said he was released after a 24-hour hold because charges had not been filed by prosecutors. He was not in custody as of Wednesday morning, police said. |

BLACK-ON-WHITE: Black man charged with murder in possible hate crime after shooting two white strangers in the back of the head
Authorities in Tulsa are investigating whether a homeless black man shot and killed two white men because of their race.
Carlton Gilford "allegedly" murdered the two strangers he had no connection with on April 18, the Tulsa Police Department told Fox News. Gifford went inside the Rudisill Library around 9:40 a.m., walked up behind Lundin Hathcock, 35, and sadistically shot him in the back of the head, according to cops. Hathcock, who had been sitting at a desk when he was killed, was rushed to a local hospital where he died. Later that day, Gifford went to a nearby QuikTrip convenience store and allegedly shot James McDaniel in the back of the head. McDaniel, 55, fell to the ground and Gifford then shot him again, leaving him dead at the scene, authorities said. Police said Gilford was also caught on surveillance video firing shots at a security guard and another person outside the QuikTrip. When officers arrived, he was standing outside the store and admitted to shooting the two men, the Tulsa Police Department said on its Facebook page. CATSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) — U.S. Marshals said they captured Travis Lanzo, 29, in Catskill on Friday afternoon. He was wanted in Scranton, Pennsylvania for criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and a firearms violation, according to the Department of Justice.
Officials with the U.S. Marshal’s Albany Division of the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force said Lanzo shot David Deshler multiple times, killing him in Scranton in March. Marshals offered a $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. Scranton police roped in the Marshalls on March 29, and investigators determined that Lanzo fled to the Capital Region. The local law enforcement investigation led to monitor a home in Catskill, where they said they found Lanzo. Charges dropped against (Black) McDonald’s employee accused of fatally shooting customer
Memphis , Tenn. (WMC) - The charges against an Orange Mound McDonald’s employee accused of fatally shooting a customer in March have been dropped.
According to court records, Preston Deener, 36, was already a convicted murderer and had a warrant for domestic assault when he allegedly shot and killed a woman through the drive-through window on March 13. Police responded to the fast food restaurant on Trezevant Street at 2:58 a.m. and found the victim unresponsive on the pavement outside, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Video surveillance showed that the victim was speaking to the manager through the drive-through window about an order being wrong. A man, later identified as Deener, is then seen arguing with the victim through the window. During the argument, the woman pulled out a firearm and is seen on surveillance video tapping it against the window. She then lowers the gun and the argument continues. Deener then backs up, pulls out a small handgun from his left pocket, points the gun at the victim, and fires one shot through the window, striking her in the chest. He then fled the scene. |

According to Crittenden County Sheriff Mike Allen, Banks is wanted in the April 30 homicide of Andre Brown. Memphis police arrested Teneler Mathis, and she is charged with first-degree murder. A black Cadillac with Tennessee tags drove on the Marathon Gas Station lot located at 3233 Ridgeway Road around 10:18 a.m. on May 7. According to the affidavit, Teneler Mathis exited the driver’s side of the car with a handgun in her right hand while the passenger switched seats. In the surveillance video, Mathis allegedly walked up to the victim and shot him in the back. The victim fell to the ground as the suspect struck him with the handgun and kicked the victim, said police. After a physical altercation with the victim, Mathis returned to the Cadillac and was last seen going north on Ridgeway Road. Jeremy Henry was taken to the hospital after experiencing multiple gunshot wounds. He did not survive. The suspect claims that Henry attacked her and fired shots in self-defense, but surveillance video suggests otherwise, according to the affidavit. |

According to the affidavit, Ward was in a verbal altercation with her mother, and Ward pushed her. The affidavit states that the mother grabbed a knife to lock the door when Ward allegedly took the knife stabbing her mother in the arm and leg. Ward allegedly kicked the door down and left the apartment after the mother ran to the bedroom and locked the door. According to MPD’s city watch release, Ward was believed to be stabbed but the affidavit states otherwise. |

Memphis , Tenn. (WMC) - A Memphis man has been charged in a shooting that injured his four-year-old daughter in 2020.
Vincent Johnson is charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault. According to court documents, on June 2, 2020, Johnson’s ex-wife arrived at his mother’s house, where he lives, to pick up their two daughters. As she was leaving, her vehicle stalled, so she called her boyfriend for help. When the boyfriend arrived, Johnson allegedly came out of the house and began to berate the couple. A friend then came to the house to pick up the young girls in his car. Johnson’s ex-wife told officers that Johnson became so irate that he went inside, came back outside with a handgun, and began firing at the group. Johnson allegedly shouted that he was going to kill them as he was shooting. The only person struck was Johnson’s four-year-old daughter. A bullet went in and out through her knee, according to court documents. She was transported to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital for treatment. The next day, the victim’s mother positively identified Johnson as the man responsible for shooting her daughter and attempting to kill her, her boyfriend, and her friend. |

injuring three in a shooting at the CRU Lounge in March due to a lack of prosecution.
Romerick Devon Humphrey, 30, was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of employment of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and three counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. According to a spokesperson for the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, “a lack of prosecution” usually means the victims did not show up in court, or there was not enough evidence at the time to determine probable cause. In the case against Humphrey, the one victim who showed up in court could not identify Humphrey as the shooter. There are plans to send this case to a grand jury for an indictment. |

Memphis , Tenn. (WMC) - A man held a Memphis Area Transit Authority bus driver at gunpoint in Whitehaven on Monday, said Memphis Police Department.
Kenneth Mallory is accused of pointing a black handgun and forcing passengers off the bus on Airways Boulevard and Brooks Road at 10:41 a.m. According to the affidavit, the suspect threatened the bus driver and passengers but agreed to let the passengers exit the bus. The suspect demanded the bus driver to take him where he wanted to go, said police. The bus driver activated the emergency system on the bus. MPD confiscated 18 bags of marijuana and a joint with a total weight of 69.5 grams when they arrested Mallory, according to the affidavit. Mallory is charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony. |

Memphis , Tenn. (WMC) - A man is accused of car theft and robbery on Sunday, May 7, that ended in a police pursuit.
Dallas Taylor is charged with evading arrest with vehicle pursuit, financial responsibility law, reckless driving, aggravated robbery, auto theft, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A victim reported to MPD that his black Chrysler 300 with an Arkansas tag was stolen from Hampton Inn on 33 Humphreys Center Drive. On May 9, the suspect robbed a victim at Superlo Foods at 3071 Perkins Road using the stolen car, said police. The victim told police that a man approached him while holding a black handgun. According to police, the man snatched a receipt from the victim’s hand, walked away, then turned back and said, “Give me the money.” After, he put a gun to the victim’s chest and patted him down, said police. The victim gave the man his wallet and told police the suspect was a backseat passenger of the black Chrysler 300. Later that afternoon, police were in the area of Kirby Road and Split Oak Drive when they saw the Chrysler 300 with an Arkansas tag traveling north from the intersection. Police pursued the stolen vehicle going at a high rate of speed until the vehicle crashed into a civilian’s vehicle on TN 385 and I-240. Officers then saw two men with all-black clothing running away northbound, according to police. A short foot chase took place before both men were taken into custody. |

The kidnapping took place on Sycamore Sycamore Heights Lane South of Sun Cove on April 23. According to an affidavit, the victim was taken from his girlfriend’s car at gunpoint. Police say Faniel robbed the victim of $1600 before the victim jumped out of the car and onto the interstate. |

Memphis , Tenn. (WMC) - Three teenagers have been arrested and charged in a number of Memphis -area burglaries and vehicle thefts.
Miko Armstead, 19, Deario Wilkerson, 18, and Myron McGee, 18, are each facing charges. Police have linked at least five burglaries and two vehicle thefts to the teens, going back as far as January 2021 and having taken place between Memphis and Southaven. On Tuesday, May 9, investigators with the Auto Theft Task Force (ATTF) conducted undercover surveillance on a 2016 Dodge Charger that was reported stolen the day prior. Investigators witnessed four men breaking into several vehicles in a parking lot on Nonconnah Boulevard after pulling up in the stolen Charger. Two suspects then stole a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and all four sped off in each car. The suspects then abandoned the Tahoe on Crockett Street and took off in the Charger. They then arrived at a gas station at 1171 Chelsea Avenue. |

SHELBY CO., Tenn. (WMC) - Four men are sitting at 201 Poplar after a joint operation to arrest a man resulted in a major drug and weapons bust Thursday — including the recovery of over 60 pounds of marijuana.
Jeremiah Bell, 22; Christopher Greer, 26; Patrick Vaughn, 18; and Jamal Terrell, 19; have each been charged. Shelby County deputies began surveying a home on Acadia Place in Cordova Thursday morning in an attempt to carry out felony arrest warrants against 18-year-old Vaughn. Terrell also had active warrants at the time of the arrest. Deputies along with Memphis police and U.S. Marshals Task Force officers knocked and announced themselves with no answer before forcing entry into the home. According to court documents, officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside as Bell, Greer, Vaughn, Jones, and one other man came to the door. All were detained without incident. A search warrant was later executed. |

An angry Texas man killed his girlfriend Wednesday after he found out she traveled to a pro-choice state for an abortion, according to police.
Harold Thompson, 22, was charged with murder in the shooting death of 26-year-old Gabriella Gonzalez in a strip mall parking lot, Dallas police said. Gonzalez had just returned the night before from a nearly 800-mile trip to Colorado, where abortion is legal at all stages of pregnancy, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Abortions in Texas are prohibited after roughly six weeks except in cases of medical emergency. “It is believed that the suspect was the father of the child,” the affidavit said. “The suspect did not want (Gonzalez) to get an abortion.” Surveillance video from the parking lot shows the couple arguing around 7:30 a.m. before Thompson grabs Gonzalez and put her into a chokehold, the document alleges. Gonzalez “shrugs him off,” police said, and the two continue walking. That’s when Thompson allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Gonzalez in the head. Police said he continued shooting her multiple times while she lay on the ground before running away. |

CLEVELAND (WJW) — A $1 million bond was set for a man indicted just this week in the 2019 murder of a 58-year-old woman as she was walking her dog.
DaJuan Evans, 22, of Cleveland, on Friday pleaded not guilty to his indicted charges of aggravated murder, murder and felonious assault. Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Nancy Margaret Russo set his bond at $1 million. Sheila Wallace was walking her dog in McGowan Park when she was shot in the head and chest on Jan. 17, 2019. Police haven’t determined a motive for the killing. The gun was later found after being used in Cleveland’s Stockyards neighborhood. It was turned in by a good Samaritan and found to have Evans’ DNA. Evans, who was 18 when Wallace was killed, was charged with the murder while serving time in the state prison in Mansfield on a 2019 robbery conviction. Evans could face life in prison, if convicted on the aggravated murder charge, prosecutors said. One of two suspects wanted in connection with a homicide from nine months ago was arrested within the confines of the 103rd Precinct on Wednesday.
Damion Howell, 39, of Auburndale, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm on May 10 for the alleged murder of Julian Askew, 29, at 106-17 Waltham St. in Jamaica, last year, according to the NYPD. On Aug. 5, 2022, it was reported that two men allegedly engaged in a verbal argument with the victim that escalated and led to Askew being shot in the torso at approximately 1:45 a.m, according to authorities. Police told the Queens Chronicle they do not know what the dispute was about. The suspects fled the scene on foot to parts unknown, according to authorities. Askew was found unconscious by EMS personnel, who rushed him to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on Nov. 14, 2022. |

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man is in jail accused of attempted murder for allegedly running over a pedestrian with his car on purpose.
According to court records, the attempted murder began when the suspect honked his horn at the victim at 16th Street and Shadeland Monday night. Police believe the driver got impatient waiting for the pedestrian to slowly cross the street. That road rage sparked a fight between the two strangers. Police insist Quintel Cook got out of his car and slammed the victim’s head on the pavement. A female passenger, Kayla Staten, also allegedly got out and kicked the victim in the head. A bystander broke up that fight, but according to the affidavit, Cook got back into his car and began to drive away before telling Staten he couldn’t let it go. That’s when Cook allegedly turned around and deliberately ran over the victim along 16th Street. Police wish people would stay calm behind the wheel. “We want people to stay calm, period. Resolving conflict with a gun or car or anything else that will cause serious injury or death is unacceptable,” said Lt. Shane Foley with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. |

George Alvarez, 34, has been charged with eight counts of manslaughter and 10 counts of aggravated assault and remains in custody on a $3.6 million bond, according to police. hitting 18 people, Brownsville police said. He then tried to flee the scene before he was detained by bystanders, police said last weekend. “When I got close to Alvarez, I was able to see that he was obviously intoxicated,” the arresting officer wrote in the report. “He had droopy, watery eyes and had a look of fatigue on his face. He was also in a state of excitement and was verbally engaging with the bystanders nearby who were hostile toward him.” In the report the officer wrote that he heard Alvarez say “se me atravesaron” in Spanish, which means, “They got in my way.” Security camera footage “shows that the suspect vehicle was already rolling over onto its left side as it struck the victims,” the arrest report says. TRACY — A Tracy man is in police custody after confessing to killing his wife and her girlfriend, authorities said Tuesday.
The Tracy Police Department identified the suspect as Satnam Sumal, 55. Police say Sumal walked into the department mid-day Monday and reported he had shot both women. Sumal was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail and faces two counts of murder. The two women were identified as Satbinder Singh, 39, and Nadjiba Belaidi, 37. Officers later found them both dead at a Sunflower Lane residence on Monday. Sumal is expected to appear in court Wednesday afternoon. Tracy Police Sgt. A man awaiting sentencing on a first-degree murder conviction in Caroline County on Thursday had several months added to whatever prison term he eventually gets for the slaying.
Calvin Maurice Reynolds, 31, of Woodford, pleaded guilty in Stafford County Circuit Court to a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery. The charge stems from a February 2022 incident in the Rappahannock Regional Jail in which Reynolds had an altercation with a correctional officer. Reynolds had initially been charged with a felony for the assault, but accepted a misdemeanor plea Thursday that calls for him to serve eight months in jail. Reynolds will face considerably more time when he is sentenced in Caroline for the Oct. 10, 2021, slaying of 59-year-old Warren “Doc” Baker. Baker was beaten to death with a metal chair outside 7119 Macedonia Road in Caroline. |

Thursday morning in Napa County Superior Court, a jury found Christopher “Roly” Young, a 26-year-old Martinez resident, guilty of fatally shooting Nathan Gabriel Garza in 2020 outside the Safeway supermarket where Garza worked. Jurors agreed that Young fired his handgun at Garza from a motor vehicle and lay in wait to do so, two factors prosecutors cited to support a charge of first-degree murder for premeditation. The jury of eight men and four women at the downtown Napa County courthouse also convicted Young of four other felonies, including shooting from a motor vehicle, firearm possession by a felon, ammunition possession by a felon, and giving false information to police officers. |

A former Army chaplain was arrested in connection with a California crime spree that involved an armed carjacking, hoax 911 call and bank robbery, authorities said.
The string of incidents occurred Tuesday afternoon in Fresno and Madera counties, authorities said. Deputies responded to a report of an armed carjacking in Madera around 12:51 p.m. local time, the Madera County Sheriff's Office said. The victim told deputies he was in his AT&T work van in a business complex parking lot when the suspect approached. When the victim got out of the van to "confront" the suspect, he "wrestled away" an airsoft pistol and disarmed the suspect, but was then pepper-sprayed, the sheriff's office said. The suspect fled the scene in the van, according to the sheriff's office, which said it issued an alert to local agencies about the stolen vehicle. Around 12:56 p.m., Fresno police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man with a gun walking onto the Bullard High School campus, the police department said. Officers cleared the school but "quickly determined that was a hoax call," Fresno Officer Chris Clark told ABC Fresno affiliate KFSN. (more at news link above...) An Arizona domestic violence suspect was indicted on Monday after allegedly beating up a Phoenix police officer last month, causing serious injuries.
Rudy Gomez, 24, was indicted on eight felony counts by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office on Thursday. His charges include one count of assault, three counts of aggravated assault and four counts of endangerment. The injured (ROMANIAN) officer, George Manciu, was responding to a domestic violence dispute at Central Avenue and Thomas Road in Phoenix at around 9:35 p.m. on April 30. As the officer spoke to a woman, who said she was assaulted by Gomez, the suspect approached Manciu "in a highly agitated manner." "Gomez assaulted the officer, who ended up on the ground with Gomez punching him multiple times in the face and kicking him while he was down," Phoenix Police Department said in a news release. The incident was caught on the officer's bodycam. According to court documents obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix, the officer suffered a nasal septum fracture, a nasal bone fracture and fractured orbital sockets. He also had a laceration above his eye and on the back of his head. "[The officer] was rendered unconscious and had no recollection as to why he was in the hospital," the documents read. His injuries were serious but not life-threatening, and the officer has since been released from the hospital. |

A man received a 25-year prison sentence Wednesday after pleading guilty to murder in a 2019 shooting outside an Elm Mott home.
Judge Susan Kelly of Waco's 54th State District Court sentenced Jacob Isaiah Jones, 31, to a 25-year prison term in the death of Brent Lee Reynolds, 40, who died by gunfire Sept. 30, 2019, in the 3500 block of Mazanec Road in Elm Mott. Jones entered a guilty plea Jan. 18, and Kelly ordered a presentencing investigation. Jones remained free on $500,000 bond from February 2020 until his sentencing. He had requested probation for his sentence, but Kelly ruled the law did not allow probation because of Jones' prior convictions in California and Tennessee. Members of Reynolds' family gave victim impact statements after the sentencing. A New Jersey man has been charged with murder after the grisly axing death of his sister-in-law and 9-year-old niece, officials announced.
Everoy L. Morrison, 44, of Roselle was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, motor vehicle theft, and several weapons counts, the Union County Prosecutor’s office and Roselle Police Department announced Monday. The bodies of Keisha Morrison, 45, and her young daughter Kelsey Morrison were found on April 18 by police officers who were called to a home in the 200 block of West 7th Avenue in Roselle on a report of two missing people, officials said. Officers found the victims’ bodies and determined that Keisha Morrison’s car was stolen. Investigators tracked the car to Maryland where the driver, Everoy Morrison, was stopped and arrested for possessing a stolen car, prosecutors said in a news release. An investigation by the prosecutor’s office, Roselle police and Maryland State Police led to Morrison to be arrested. A man in Florida was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly randomly stabbed a gas station employee.
The Davenport Police Department said that Marc Caseaf Tucker allegedly walked into the RaceTrac convenience store at a gas station on May 8 and began looking at items and eventually used the restroom, according to FOX 13. When asked by a clerk if he needed help, Tucker declined. But as the female clerk stocked merchandise, Tucker allegedly stabbed her from behind and hit her on the side and in the back according to police. Police said the victim was able to escape, but eventually fell to the floor. Tucker allegedly stabbed her in the chest several more times after she fell. When the victim escaped again, Tucker allegedly ran into the woods. The other clerks inside the store didn't see the attack happen, but heard the victim scream and saw Tucker running, officials said. In total, the victim was stabbed nine times and was taken to a local hospital. Police said Tucker is homeless and has multiple arrests that date back to 2013 and include assault, resisting an officer, domestic violence, thef and battery. |

Rickey Drayton, 62, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of cocaine first offense, operating a stash house and possession with intent to distribute marijuana first offense. Raquel Stevens, 35, was arrested and charged with possession of anabolic steroids 100 doses or more, possession of Fentanyl, violation of drug distribution law, possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance near a school and unlawful neglect of a child. On Jan.9, police responded to the area of Blackstone Camp Road and Atomic Road to the report of a Black juvenile male laying on the side of the road, naked and beaten, according to an incident report from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. A complainant told police her son saw the victim lying on the ground, the report said. |

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - A Sumter County man has been sentenced to 18 years of imprisonment after being arrested for killing a retired school teacher.
Zamal Rivera, 43, of Wedgefield pled to felony driving under the influence resulting in death. Investigators say on March 15, 2018, Rivera hit 71-year-old John Scott head-on while driving in the opposite direction on US-178. Five hours after the incident law enforcement tested Rivera’s blood alcohol level which came back as above the legal limit at .092. He was previously convicted of driving under the influence in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2016. The victim, John Scott was an art teacher for the Dorchester County Schools for nearly 31 years before his retirement. Scott also was known for designing a logo for the first St. George Grits Festival in Dorchester County. |

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The Fayetteville Police Department has obtained warrants and charged a suspect in a deadly car shooting on Tuesday.
Police and the United States Marshals are looking for 37-year-old Jermaine Tyrone Cartrette who is wanted in the death of Terence Malcolm Malik Hogue. Police responded to the 1200 block of Kienast Drive at around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday to find a man, Hogue, in a car with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene. Pettigrew is a 17-year-old Black male, is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. According to police, he should be considered armed and dangerous. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office needs help finding 23-year-old Treyvon Walker. In a release Friday morning, the Bibb Sheriff's Office says Walker ran away from the scene where his girlfriend was shot. Deputies responded to Green Meadows Townhouses on Log Cabin Drive around 3:45 a.m. and found 28-year-old Kanzea Owens shot and unresponsive. She went to a hospital where doctors pronounced her dead around 4:30 a.m. Investigators say Walker and Owens got into a fight and shots were fired. That's when Walker ran away. Investigators say he is armed and dangerous. |

Louisville Metro Police arrested Robert Harris last May for the fatal shooting of Laland Hurt. On Wednesday, Harris entered a guilty plea but told a Jefferson County courtroom he was protecting himself. He was sentenced to 18 years for second degree manslaughter and having a gun as a convicted felon. Harris was not allowed probation. |
31-year-old (Black) man arrested in connection to double homicide in Old Louisville
Police have made an arrest in connection to a double homicide in Old Louisville last year.
The Louisville Metro Police Department arrested 31-year-old Kelen Slaughter on Thursday and charged him with murder. The charges are related to a shooting on Dec. 5 of last year, which took place in the 1600 block of Arthur Street. LMPD was called to the scene and found 28-year-old Kenneth Sauer Jr. dead from gunshot wounds. Jimy Mejias, 24<, was taken to UofL Hospital, where he later died from gunshot wounds. Slaughter is also being charged with robbery and three counts of trafficking a controlled substance. |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is accused of beating another man in the head with a tire iron, causing severe head injuries.
According to court documents, 64-year-old Tony Glasper was taken into custody by officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department Sunday night. He's charged with first-degree assault. Police said on Saturday, EMS was sent to North 42nd Street, near Parker Avenue, in Louisville's Shawnee neighborhood, after receiving a report that someone was in distress. When they arrived, they found a man with "severe head trauma" outside his home. That man was transported to UofL Hospital, where police said they were told the victim, "is not likely to survive his injuries." According to court documents, the victim was last seen getting into a vehicle with Glasper. Police said Glasper also told someone else that he'd beaten the man with a tire iron. When police searched Glasper's vehicle, they found blood evidence and a tire iron, according to an arrest report. |

Police said Prince Ssenteza-Woodson put a live baby chicken into an air fryer, cooked it and livestreamed the whole thing. Earlier this month, UofL Police started investigating after students called police, reporting the live stream and graphic video. The case was turned over to the Louisville Metro Police Department because it happened off campus. Ssenteza-Woodson turned himself in to police. His bond was set at $35,000 and he was ordered to have no contact with any animals. |

On April 3rd, 2010, the Malibu community was devastated by the tragic death of 13 year old Emily Rose Shane who was struck and killed walking home along the right shoulder of PCH near Heathercliff Drive.Sina Khankhanian, 26, was driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer erratically for several miles on PCH prompting numerous 911 calls detailing near misses due to his reckless driving before killing Shane at 5:11 p.m. Khankhanian told deputies that he was under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs, however, his blood-alcohol level was below the legal limit. Authorities in Tulsa are investigating whether a homeless black man shot and killed two white men because of their race.
Carlton Gilford allegedly murdered the two strangers he had no connection with on April 18, the Tulsa Police Department told Fox News. Gifford went inside the Rudisill Library around 9:40 a.m., walked up behind Lundin Hathcock, 35, and sadistically shot him in the back of the head, according to cops. Hathcock, who had been sitting at a desk when he was killed, was rushed to a local hospital where he died. Later that day, Gifford went to a nearby QuikTrip convenience store and allegedly shot James McDaniel in the back of the head. McDaniel, 55, fell to the ground and Gifford then shot him again, leaving him dead at the scene, authorities said. Police said Gilford was also caught on surveillance video firing shots at a security guard and another person outside the QuikTrip. When officers arrived, he was standing outside the store and admitted to shooting the two men, the Tulsa Police Department said on its Facebook page. A driver who sparked mayhem in Midtown Manhattan last month after nearly plowing into police officers and then driving through a dining shed during a traffic stop — a scene captured in a wild video — was busted Saturday, police said.
Benjamin Abrams, a 55-year-old homeless man, was charged with three counts of assault on a police officer more than two weeks after the April 19 incident, according to cops. One of the officers hit his head and suffered a concussion after jumping out of the way of the car. Abrams remained silent as he was walked out of the Midtown South precinct. “Crime Stoppers tips led to his arrest,” a police spokeswoman said. |

A 33-year-old Milwaukee public schools staff member is accused of sexually assaulting, requesting sexual favors and discussing pornography with a 14-year-old girl and other students at a public elementary school.
Randell Jefferson, 33, faces 10 criminal felonies for soliciting sex with minors spanning a two-year period. Along with being the 6th. grade aid, Jefferson runs the after school program and helped coach track. According to the criminal complaint, the Milwaukee Police Department began investigating in Sept. 2022 after a 14-year-old girl came forward regarding a sexual assault with her 6th. grade aid "Mr. Jefferson." The unnamed 14-year-old said that the 33-year-old, "made comments to her about boys wanting to do sexual things to (the teen) and talking to (the teen) about pornography," the complaint says. The teen stayed silent until she told her mother in June. The young girl told her mother that Jefferson took her into a room commonly used for after-school activities and allegedly had inappropriate contact with her. The teen did not say anything about their interaction because the teen "stated she felt uncomfortable talking about it and that the defendant had a ‘buff build.’" As police began investigating the disturbing incident, the principal at Oliver Wendell Holmes School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin corroborated the 14-year-old's allegation after "several students informed him that they were solicited for sexual favors by a teacher." During an interview with police, Jefferson admitted to having homemade pornographic material on his phone, but denied showing the pornography to any of the students. The complaint says that the pornographic videos depicting the defendant receiving oral sex from various females - are consistent with what the victims said. |

A suspect was arrested Thursday evening in connection to the murder of Lauren Heike, the Arizona woman found dead along a hiking trail, according to authorities.
The man’s capture came five days after Heike’s body was discovered on a trail near her Phoenix home. She appeared to have suffered trauma, authorities previously said. Phoenix police said the suspect, in his early 20s, was arrested at his home — about a mile from the trail where Heike, 29, was killed. Telemundo Arizona captured footage of the man moments after he was arrested that shows him sitting on a curb and at one point lying on his back while handcuffed. He then is shown being placed inside a police vehicle. “With this information, we hope that the community tonight can rest a little easier knowing that this person is off the streets,” police spokesperson Sgt. Melissa Soliz said during a brief Thursday night press conference. Authorities confirmed the man seen in surveillance footage previously released by the department is the suspect who was nabbed. He was linked to the slaying through DNA evidence, CBS 5 reported. It’s unclear if the suspect and victim had any connection. Phoenix police homicide Lt. A suspect accused in a February homicide at a Danville hotel now faces a charge of first-degree murder, online court records show.
A Danville Circuit Court grand jury last week indicted Avery Demetrie Kirby, 49, in the death of 61-year-old Dale Marie Jones.
Responding to a well-being check, authorities found the victim about 2:15 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Astoria Hotel in the 3000 block of Riverside Drive. By 9 p.m. the same day, Kirby was in custody originally charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jones. On April 24, a grand jury returned a true bill for a charge of first-degree murder, loosely defined as a killing by premeditation. Jones was found “with blunt force trauma to her upper body,” the Danville Police Department reported in February. It marked the first homicide of the year for the city. |
FOUR (Black) teens involved in 2020 murder of Biloxi 16 year old sentenced
Four people who were teens at the time they were involved in a 2020 murder were sentenced on Tuesday for their roles in the death of Madison Harris, District Attorney W. Crosby Parker said in a press release.
Jasmine Kelley, Jarvis Cook, Willow Blackmon and Yakeshia Blackmon, of Biloxi, had previously entered guilty pleas before Circuit Court Judge Randi P. Muller for their roles in the murder of Madison Harris, who was killed in a robbery attempt at her home in Biloxi in 2020. Jaquez “Quez” Devonte Porter, who was also involved in the killing, was sentenced to life in prison for capital murder on April 14. Willow Blackmon, Jarvis Cook and Jasmine Kelley testified at Porter’s trial. During Porter’s sentencing, his grandmother Tammy Lytrice Porter, 55, was arrested after allegedly shouting obscenities and threatening Judge Muller after the sentence was handed down. Jarvis Cook, who was out on bond for an unrelated Gulfport case at the time of the murder, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and robbery and received a sentence of 43 years. He will serve 25 of those years before being on post-release supervision for five years. Yakeshia Blackmon, who had her hand on the gun when it went off, killing Harris, was sentenced to 40 years, and will serve 30 of those years without the possibility of parole for second-degree murder and robbery. |

ST. LOUIS — Authorities on Thursday charged two men in connection to a shooting death in the Central West End earlier this week.
Syntrell Howard, 21, and Ta'Shaun Patterson, 22, were both charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Howard also faces a charge of unlawfully possessing a weapon. Both men were in custody Friday morning, however police were unable to provide bond information. Police had not released the name of the victim as of Friday morning. A spokeswoman said investigators were still working to locate next of kin. The charges stem from a shooting around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Laclede and Taylor avenues, according to a police report. When police arrived, they found a man shot multiple times who was not breathing. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital, police said. |

A murder suspect linked to a fatal Bradenton shooting earlier this year was taken into custody Wednesday night following an eight-hour standoff with SWAT and police, law enforcement officials say. Dorian Brooks, 24, of Bradenton, was wanted for multiple felony counts, including first-degree murder for a deadly armed robbery shooting on Jan. 23 at a house in the 100 block of 10th Ave. W. in Bradenton.
Brooks and six other men are accused of firing over 60 shots during the robbery, wounding three men. One of the men, a 23-year-old, died on Jan. 31 from his injuries, police said. Brooks was arrested at a friend’s house in the 5100 block of Old Bradenton Road in Sarasota after an hours-long standoff with multiple agencies, the Sarasota Police Department said in a press release. Police officers, SWAT and U.S. Marshals responded to the scene, according to the department. Investigators with the Bradenton Police Department have been trying to arrest all seven men linked to the shooting since January. Brooks is the fifth suspect arrested in the case, police say. Two other suspects are still at large. |

Stanley Self Jr., 23, was last seen in the area of Isaac Street and South Street on May 2 at 7 a.m. According to MHP, Self is wanted in connection to a shooting that injured a state trooper in Mound Bayou in Bolivar County. The trooper was shot in the arm by Self, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. The 5′9 man was last seen wearing khaki pants and a white t-shirt and may be traveling on foot. State law enforcement is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the location or arrest of the subject |

Anthony McKnight, a convicted serial killer and rapist in Alameda County, was found dead in his prison cell on Thursday in San Quentin. No cause of death has been released.
McKnight was linked by DNA to the 1985 murders of five women in Alameda County: Betty Stuart, 22; Diane Stone, 17; Talita Dixon, 13; Monique Davis, 18; and Beverly Bryant, 24. McKnight was already in prison when investigators linked him to the five murders: He had been serving a 63-year sentence since August 1987 for convictions of attempted first-degree murder, rape, assault with a deadly weapon, oral copulation and kidnapping to commit a sex offense, also committed in Alameda County. McKnight was enlisted in the Navy at the time of the crimes, assigned to the Alameda Naval Air Station, but living in Oakland. In a 1987 story in the Oakland Tribune, prosecutor Ken Burr wrote in a letter to the probation department that McKnight was a serial rapist of sex workers. “And if he had his way the six women who testified against him would never have been found alive,” Burr said at the time. (Black) Long Island Stop & Shop Mass Shooter Convicted, Faces 90 Years To Life
After a jury deliberation of less than six hours, a Long Island man previously indicted on charges for a deadly supermarket shooting has been convicted and could face life behind bars.
Hempstead resident Gabriel DeWitt Wilson, age 33, was found guilty on Wednesday, May 3 of murdering a Stop & Shop supervisor and attempting to murder two coworkers, the Nassau County District Attorney announced. He faces a potential maximum sentence of 90 years to life in prison. Wilson, who had been a Stop & Shop employee at the time, entered the West Hempstead grocery store with a weapon on April 20, 2021, at approximately 11:19 a.m. and headed up to the second-floor employee offices, according to trial testimony. He then went into the store manager’s office, where he shot a victim in the face and twice in the chest. The DA’s Office reports that Wilson then shot a female manager in the shoulder, with the bullet exiting through her back, before entering a second office and firing multiple rounds at 49-year-old manager Raymond Wishropp. Wishropp was struck in the chest and leg. ST. LOUIS — Authorities on Thursday charged a 20-year-old man with murder in the fatal shooting of a man in March.
Jerry Pergues is charged with first-degree murder, four counts of first-degree assault and five counts of armed criminal action. He was being held without bond on Thursday. The charges stem from the shooting death of Jevon Patterson, 23, on March 31. Police said they were called to the 5000 block of Thrush Avenue just after noon that day for a report of a shooting. Officers said they later found out a man had been shot in the stomach and someone was driving them to the hospital. |
(Black) North Augusta man arrested on one-year anniversary of 2022 murder
A North Augusta man has been charged in connection to a 2022 murder.
Freddie Lee Simpkins, 34, of North Augusta, was arrested Wednesday regarding the May 3, 2022 murder of Charles Bradley at the intersection of Hampton Avenue and Assembly Street, according to a news release from the Aiken Department of Public Safety. Simpkins was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, the release said. Officers with on patrol observed Simpkins on the front porch of a North Augusta residence on Wednesday, and he fled on foot once spotted. After a brief chase, Simpkins was apprehended without further incident, according to the report. The ATF RAGE Unit Task Force, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and North Augusta Department of Public Safety assisted with the location and apprehension of Simpkins, the release stated. |

Manhunt underway for (Black) who killed 1 and wounded 4 in Atlanta medical facility
Atlanta authorities are searching for the person who shot five people Wednesday at Northside Hospital Medical in Midtown Atlanta, killing one person and sending four others to the hospital, and then fleeing in a carjacked vehicle, Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said Wednesday.
A 39-year-old woman died, Schierbaum said during a Wednesday afternoon news conference. The injured victims were also all women, ranging from 25 to 71 years old. The suspect, whom authorities identified as 24-year-old Deion Patterson, left the building and is believed to have carjacked a vehicle nearby, the police chief said. He is still at large and there are active leads in Cobb County and in the city of Atlanta, Schierbaum said. Officers in Cobb County were searching in the areas of Vinings, Cumberland and Truist Park, according to a Twitter post from the Cobb County Police Department. “We are working diligently to bring this individual into custody,” the police chief added. |

COBB COUNTY, Ga. - A terrifying home invasion in Cobb County. An elderly couple was held at gunpoint and forced to hand over cash, gun and the keys to their car.
Ed and Linda Shanahan were watching TV when a stranger kicked his way through the front door of their home on Baker road last week. "I get up to get my gun, it's in the bedroom, before I could get there the guy is in the living room pointing his weapon at my head," said Ed Shanahan. The man held the couple at gunpoint and forced them into the bedroom. "He was in between the two of us and told her to hurry. She said I'm 80 years old what do you expect? I can't run!" said Shanahan. The Shanahans say the man wanted guns and cash. They handed over a little more than 300 dollars and a gun. He then told Linda Shanahan lie on her stomach on the bed and took Ed Shanahan to the kitchen. "I didn't know if I should try to do something, call 911 or press the alarm, but then thought if he heard me he may shoot him and then come back and shoot me," said Linda Shenahan. He made Ed Shanahan kneel down, he grabbed the keys to their car and took off. Police tracked the car and a few days later caught up with 36-year-old Earnest Williams. He is now in the Cobb County jail charged with 10 felonies. He's being held without bond. Williams has an Atlanta address. PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — New details are emerging after a Phoenix police officer was attacked over the weekend, suffering what the police union describes as “horrific” injuries.
It began around 9:30 p.m. Sunday near Central Avenue and Thomas Road when an officer was flagged down by a woman who said she was just assaulted by the father of her children. As the officer and woman were speaking, police say the suspect, 24-year-old Rudy Gomez, approached. Moments later, the officer was punched multiple times in the face, then kicked while he was on the ground. Phoenix Law Enforcement Association president Darrell Kriplean says the attack was much more severe than initially described by Phoenix police. “When our officer attempted to take Gomez into custody, the suspect punched our officer in the face, rendering him unconscious,” Kriplean said. “Gomez continued his attack, brutally punching the officer in the face an estimated dozen times and then stomping on the officer’s face.” “This officer was beaten, and we could have been planning a funeral,” said Kriplean who calls the officer’s injuries “horrific,” saying he suffered two broken eye orbital bones, head lacerations and a broken nose. “He was almost unrecognizable only minutes after the assault,” Kriplean said. “It’s nothing short of miraculous that he survived.” <----<⭐︎>----> Wherever there are blacks, death follows. Mother of serial killer stabbed to death in home where her son was arrested CLEVELAND – A woman was found dead and three children injured early Saturday morning after a man entered their home and stabbed them, Cleveland police said. The suspect, 18-year-old Jaylen Latrell Plummer, entered the home where Diane Madison, 62, and three children — two 10-year- olds and a 12-year-old — slept and began stabbing them in their bedrooms, police said. Madison is the mother of serial killer Michael Madison, according to WJW, based on confirmation from his former attorney. Michael Madison was sentenced to death in 2016, after being convicted of killing three women and wrapping their bodies in garbage bags. Diane Madison was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday. Two of the children were able to run to a neighbor’s home and call for help, police said. Officers found the third child hiding in the house. The three young victims were taken to a children’s hospital. Police said they found and arrested Plummer in the home’s shower. Jake Bird was arrested in Tacoma, Washington, on Oct. 30, 1947. He broke into the home of Bertha Kludt and her daughter, Beverly June Kludt, and hacked them to death with an ax. He confessed to the killings and was sentenced to death. On Nov. 26, 1947, following a three-day trial, he was convicted of first-degree murder. He confessed to 44 murders during his travels as a hobo across the country. He was hanged at the Washington State Penitentiary on July 15, 1949.
In 1991, criminologist Eric W. Hickey, Ph.D., Director of Alliant International University's Center for Forensic Studies, wrote about how the Bird case challenges stereotypes of serial killers, who are mostly thought to be Caucasian males, whereas African-American killers typically are associated with urban violence. DENVER — One of the men involved in a summer of 1975 Colorado Springs crime spree that led to the deaths of at least three people has died, according to a news release from the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Michael Corbett died Monday night of what’s believed to be natural causes at a Denver-area hospital, the release says. Corbett’s first murder happened on June 19, 1975, while he was a soldier. According to the release, he, Freddie Glenn, and another codefendant robbed Daniel Van Lone. Van Lone, who was 29, had just gotten off the clock at his job at the Four Seasons Hotel when he was abducted and taken to a remote area. Police at the time said Van Lone begged for his life but to no avail. He was fatally shot in the head and robbed – netting his abductors just 50 cents, according to prosecutors. The next murder happened on June 27, 1975, when prosecutors said Corbett met with another soldier named Winfred Proffitt. The release says Corbett stabbed him in the chest with a knife, and later told investigators his only reason for stabbing Proffitt to death was to see what it feels like to stab someone with a knife. On July 1, 1975, prosecutors said Corbett and one of his co-defendants went to a Red Lobster restaurant with the intention of robbing it. When they thought someone was onto their plan, the release says they started to leave the building – and kidnapped 19-year-old Karen Grammer on their way out. Karen Grammer is actor Kelsey Grammer’s sister, and worked at the restaurant. She was waiting for her boyfriend to pick her up. Prosecutors said the young woman was repeatedly sexually assaulted and then taken to a mobile home park, where Glenn stabbed her several times and threw her into a car to die. “The only apparent motive for the murder of Karen Grammer was their belief that she might have been able to say they had attempted to rob the restaurant,” the release says. Glenn is still alive and in the custody of the Colorado Department of Corrections. WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A local man who allegedly stole a truck and killed two people in a police pursuit last weekend has been charged.
MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (CBS) -- Police are looking for two people they claim attempted to steal iPhones off the display at a Best Buy store in Mount Laurel Township.
It happened on Sunday, April 30, around 1:30 p.m.
Police responded to the Best Buy on Nixon Drive after two armed peopled allegedly tried to take iPhones from the store.
Both suspects are described to be under 5 feet tall. One suspect was wearing a blue jumpsuit. 
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect who sources say attempted to sexually assault a woman near the University of Pennsylvania campus.
“What’s up, n–a,” he can be heard saying before allegedly shooting at the man, sending shocked pedestrians fumbling out of the line of fire.

Gilyard murdered at least 13 women, yet he received little media attention in the mid 1970s. He began strangling prostitutes in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri in 1977 at the age of 26. He was arrested 17 years later at the age of 42, and was caught because of DNA evidence.

Darren Deon Vann is suspected in the deaths of dozens of women in a period that may span almost 20 years. Vann confessed to the murder of at least six other Black women mostly thought to engage in the sex trade. Vann is a convicted sex offender with a long criminal history that includes aggravated rape in Austin, Texas, for which he served five years in prison. After he was released, he relocated to the Gary, Indiana area and was listed as a registered sex offender. At this point, police have stated that at least one other victim was also strangled to death but have not listed the cause of death of the other victims.
Lonnie Franklin, Jr., a former garbage man with the official police nickname of the “Grim Sleeper.” A Los Angeles jury found Franklin guilty after a two-month long trial for the murder of 10 Black women over a 20-year period. Franklin killed from 1985 thru 2007 and he was found guilty in 10 deaths, but may have killed many more. His victims were all mainly poor Black females, already victimized by the poverty of their circumstances during the 1980s crack epidemic. Some of the victims have been described as prostitutes and crack addicts and because of this, a low priority was given for the solving of their deaths. Also helping Franklin was his job as a trash collector and garage attendant for the Los Angeles Police Department.
