A $500 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of Fort Dodge murder suspect Davonquae Jyshon “D.J.” Pettigrew.
According to a press release from the Fort Dodge Police Department, Webster County Crime Stoppers has offered the reward. Pettigrew is a 17-year-old Black male, is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. According to police, he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Pettigrew’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact law enforcement at 515-573-2323. Tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 515-573-1444 or by texting “LEC” and the tip to 274-637. |

MACON, Ga. — Update, 7:00 a.m.:
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office needs help finding 23-year-old Treyvon Walker. In a release Friday morning, the Bibb Sheriff's Office says Walker ran away from the scene where his girlfriend was shot. Deputies responded to Green Meadows Townhouses on Log Cabin Drive around 3:45 a.m. and found 28-year-old Kanzea Owens shot and unresponsive. She went to a hospital where doctors pronounced her dead around 4:30 a.m. Investigators say Walker and Owens got into a fight and shots were fired. That's when Walker ran away. Investigators say he is armed and dangerous. |
(Black) Louisville man sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison for 2022 fatal Newburg shooting
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The man who shot and killed another man in Newburg will spend nearly two decades in prison.
Louisville Metro Police arrested Robert Harris last May for the fatal shooting of Laland Hurt. On Wednesday, Harris entered a guilty plea but told a Jefferson County courtroom he was protecting himself. He was sentenced to 18 years for second degree manslaughter and having a gun as a convicted felon. Harris was not allowed probation. |
31-year-old (Black) man arrested in connection to double homicide in Old Louisville
Police have made an arrest in connection to a double homicide in Old Louisville last year.
The Louisville Metro Police Department arrested 31-year-old Kelen Slaughter on Thursday and charged him with murder. The charges are related to a shooting on Dec. 5 of last year, which took place in the 1600 block of Arthur Street. LMPD was called to the scene and found 28-year-old Kenneth Sauer Jr. dead from gunshot wounds. Jimy Mejias, 24<, was taken to UofL Hospital, where he later died from gunshot wounds. Slaughter is also being charged with robbery and three counts of trafficking a controlled substance. |
(Black) Louisville suspect accused of beating man in the head with a tire iron
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is accused of beating another man in the head with a tire iron, causing severe head injuries.
According to court documents, 64-year-old Tony Glasper was taken into custody by officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department Sunday night. He's charged with first-degree assault. Police said on Saturday, EMS was sent to North 42nd Street, near Parker Avenue, in Louisville's Shawnee neighborhood, after receiving a report that someone was in distress. When they arrived, they found a man with "severe head trauma" outside his home. That man was transported to UofL Hospital, where police said they were told the victim, "is not likely to survive his injuries." According to court documents, the victim was last seen getting into a vehicle with Glasper. Police said Glasper also told someone else that he'd beaten the man with a tire iron. When police searched Glasper's vehicle, they found blood evidence and a tire iron, according to an arrest report. |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A not guilty plea was entered Wednesday morning on behalf of a FOREIGN (BLACK) University of Louisville student accused of committing cruelty to animals.
Police said Prince Ssenteza-Woodson put a live baby chicken into an air fryer, cooked it and livestreamed the whole thing. Earlier this month, UofL Police started investigating after students called police, reporting the live stream and graphic video. The case was turned over to the Louisville Metro Police Department because it happened off campus. Ssenteza-Woodson turned himself in to police. His bond was set at $35,000 and he was ordered to have no contact with any animals. |

Officials are also investigating any possible ties between the suspect and radical beliefs after he was found wearing "a patch" on his chest that suggested white supremacist or neo-Nazi leanings, according to the Washington Post. On April 3rd, 2010, the Malibu community was devastated by the tragic death of 13 year old Emily Rose Shane who was struck and killed walking home along the right shoulder of PCH near Heathercliff Drive.Sina Khankhanian, 26, was driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer erratically for several miles on PCH prompting numerous 911 calls detailing near misses due to his reckless driving before killing Shane at 5:11 p.m. Khankhanian told deputies that he was under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs, however, his blood-alcohol level was below the legal limit. Malibu/Lost Hills Station deputies arrested him on suspicion of murder. Authorities in Tulsa are investigating whether a homeless black man shot and killed two white men because of their race.
Carlton Gilford allegedly murdered the two strangers he had no connection with on April 18, the Tulsa Police Department told Fox News. Gifford went inside the Rudisill Library around 9:40 a.m., walked up behind Lundin Hathcock, 35, and sadistically shot him in the back of the head, according to cops. Hathcock, who had been sitting at a desk when he was killed, was rushed to a local hospital where he died. Later that day, Gifford went to a nearby QuikTrip convenience store and allegedly shot James McDaniel in the back of the head. McDaniel, 55, fell to the ground and Gifford then shot him again, leaving him dead at the scene, authorities said. Police said Gilford was also caught on surveillance video firing shots at a security guard and another person outside the QuikTrip. When officers arrived, he was standing outside the store and admitted to shooting the two men, the Tulsa Police Department said on its Facebook page. Gilford was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of shooting with intent to kill, and one count of malicious intimidation or harassment. (Black-on-White) |

A driver who sparked mayhem in Midtown Manhattan last month after nearly plowing into police officers and then driving through a dining shed during a traffic stop — a scene captured in a wild video — was busted Saturday, police said.
Benjamin Abrams, a 55-year-old homeless man, was charged with three counts of assault on a police officer more than two weeks after the April 19 incident, according to cops. One of the officers hit his head and suffered a concussion after jumping out of the way of the car. Abrams remained silent as he was walked out of the Midtown South precinct. “Crime Stoppers tips led to his arrest,” a police spokeswoman said. |

A 33-year-old Milwaukee public schools staff member is accused of sexually assaulting, requesting sexual favors and discussing pornography with a 14-year-old girl and other students at a public elementary school.
Randell Jefferson, 33, faces 10 criminal felonies for soliciting sex with minors spanning a two-year period. Along with being the 6th. grade aid, Jefferson runs the after school program and helped coach track. According to the criminal complaint, the Milwaukee Police Department began investigating in Sept. 2022 after a 14-year-old girl came forward regarding a sexual assault with her 6th. grade aid "Mr. Jefferson." The unnamed 14-year-old said that the 33-year-old, "made comments to her about boys wanting to do sexual things to (the teen) and talking to (the teen) about pornography," the complaint says. The teen stayed silent until she told her mother in June. The young girl told her mother that Jefferson took her into a room commonly used for after-school activities and allegedly had inappropriate contact with her. The teen did not say anything about their interaction because the teen "stated she felt uncomfortable talking about it and that the defendant had a ‘buff build.’" As police began investigating the disturbing incident, the principal at Oliver Wendell Holmes School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin corroborated the 14-year-old's allegation after "several students informed him that they were solicited for sexual favors by a teacher." During an interview with police, Jefferson admitted to having homemade pornographic material on his phone, but denied showing the pornography to any of the students. The complaint says that the pornographic videos depicting the defendant receiving oral sex from various females - are consistent with what the victims said. |

A suspect was arrested Thursday evening in connection to the murder of Lauren Heike, the Arizona woman found dead along a hiking trail, according to authorities.
The man’s capture came five days after Heike’s body was discovered on a trail near her Phoenix home. She appeared to have suffered trauma, authorities previously said. Phoenix police said the suspect, in his early 20s, was arrested at his home — about a mile from the trail where Heike, 29, was killed. Telemundo Arizona captured footage of the man moments after he was arrested that shows him sitting on a curb and at one point lying on his back while handcuffed. He then is shown being placed inside a police vehicle. “With this information, we hope that the community tonight can rest a little easier knowing that this person is off the streets,” police spokesperson Sgt. Melissa Soliz said during a brief Thursday night press conference. Authorities confirmed the man seen in surveillance footage previously released by the department is the suspect who was nabbed. He was linked to the slaying through DNA evidence, CBS 5 reported. It’s unclear if the suspect and victim had any connection. Phoenix police homicide Lt. (Black) Suspect in slaying at Danville hotel now faces charge of first-degree murder of a woman beaten to death
A suspect accused in a February homicide at a Danville hotel now faces a charge of first-degree murder, online court records show.
A Danville Circuit Court grand jury last week indicted Avery Demetrie Kirby, 49, in the death of 61-year-old Dale Marie Jones.
Responding to a well-being check, authorities found the victim about 2:15 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Astoria Hotel in the 3000 block of Riverside Drive. By 9 p.m. the same day, Kirby was in custody originally charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jones. On April 24, a grand jury returned a true bill for a charge of first-degree murder, loosely defined as a killing by premeditation. Jones was found “with blunt force trauma to her upper body,” the Danville Police Department reported in February. It marked the first homicide of the year for the city. |
FOUR (Black) teens involved in 2020 murder of Biloxi 16 year old sentenced
Four people who were teens at the time they were involved in a 2020 murder were sentenced on Tuesday for their roles in the death of Madison Harris, District Attorney W. Crosby Parker said in a press release.
Jasmine Kelley, Jarvis Cook, Willow Blackmon and Yakeshia Blackmon, of Biloxi, had previously entered guilty pleas before Circuit Court Judge Randi P. Muller for their roles in the murder of Madison Harris, who was killed in a robbery attempt at her home in Biloxi in 2020. Jaquez “Quez” Devonte Porter, who was also involved in the killing, was sentenced to life in prison for capital murder on April 14. Willow Blackmon, Jarvis Cook and Jasmine Kelley testified at Porter’s trial. During Porter’s sentencing, his grandmother Tammy Lytrice Porter, 55, was arrested after allegedly shouting obscenities and threatening Judge Muller after the sentence was handed down. Jarvis Cook, who was out on bond for an unrelated Gulfport case at the time of the murder, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and robbery and received a sentence of 43 years. He will serve 25 of those years before being on post-release supervision for five years. Yakeshia Blackmon, who had her hand on the gun when it went off, killing Harris, was sentenced to 40 years, and will serve 30 of those years without the possibility of parole for second-degree murder and robbery. |
(Black) charged with murder in shooting death in St. Louis’ Central West End
ST. LOUIS — Authorities on Thursday charged two men in connection to a shooting death in the Central West End earlier this week.
Syntrell Howard, 21, and Ta'Shaun Patterson, 22, were both charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Howard also faces a charge of unlawfully possessing a weapon. Both men were in custody Friday morning, however police were unable to provide bond information. Police had not released the name of the victim as of Friday morning. A spokeswoman said investigators were still working to locate next of kin. The charges stem from a shooting around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Laclede and Taylor avenues, according to a police report. When police arrived, they found a man shot multiple times who was not breathing. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital, police said. |
(Black) Bradenton murder suspect found hiding in attic after standoff, Sarasota police say
A murder suspect linked to a fatal Bradenton shooting earlier this year was taken into custody Wednesday night following an eight-hour standoff with SWAT and police, law enforcement officials say. Dorian Brooks, 24, of Bradenton, was wanted for multiple felony counts, including first-degree murder for a deadly armed robbery shooting on Jan. 23 at a house in the 100 block of 10th Ave. W. in Bradenton.
Brooks and six other men are accused of firing over 60 shots during the robbery, wounding three men. One of the men, a 23-year-old, died on Jan. 31 from his injuries, police said. Brooks was arrested at a friend’s house in the 5100 block of Old Bradenton Road in Sarasota after an hours-long standoff with multiple agencies, the Sarasota Police Department said in a press release. Police officers, SWAT and U.S. Marshals responded to the scene, according to the department. Investigators with the Bradenton Police Department have been trying to arrest all seven men linked to the shooting since January. Brooks is the fifth suspect arrested in the case, police say. Two other suspects are still at large. |

A former Boston high school dean serving a 26-year sentence in state prison for shooting a student he had recruited to deal drugs has received an additional 18 years or more on a federal gang-related charge.
Prosecutors said that Shaun Harrison, 63, lived a double life, portraying himself as an anti-violence activist and mentor for troubled teens while hiding his own gang ties, and luring students into drugs and violence. In 2022, Harrison pleaded guilty to a count of racketeering conspiracy, also referred to as a RICO conspiracy. |

BOLIVAR CO., Miss. (WMC) - Mississippi Highway Patrol is searching for a man on the run.
Stanley Self Jr., 23, was last seen in the area of Isaac Street and South Street on May 2 at 7 a.m. According to MHP, Self is wanted in connection to a shooting that injured a state trooper in Mound Bayou in Bolivar County. The trooper was shot in the arm by Self, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. The 5′9 man was last seen wearing khaki pants and a white t-shirt and may be traveling on foot. State law enforcement is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the location or arrest of the subject |

Anthony McKnight, a convicted serial killer and rapist in Alameda County, was found dead in his prison cell on Thursday in San Quentin. No cause of death has been released.
McKnight was linked by DNA to the 1985 murders of five women in Alameda County: Betty Stuart, 22; Diane Stone, 17; Talita Dixon, 13; Monique Davis, 18; and Beverly Bryant, 24. McKnight was already in prison when investigators linked him to the five murders: He had been serving a 63-year sentence since August 1987 for convictions of attempted first-degree murder, rape, assault with a deadly weapon, oral copulation and kidnapping to commit a sex offense, also committed in Alameda County. McKnight was enlisted in the Navy at the time of the crimes, assigned to the Alameda Naval Air Station, but living in Oakland. In a 1987 story in the Oakland Tribune, prosecutor Ken Burr wrote in a letter to the probation department that McKnight was a serial rapist of sex workers. “And if he had his way the six women who testified against him would never have been found alive,” Burr said at the time. After a jury deliberation of less than six hours, a Long Island man previously indicted on charges for a deadly supermarket shooting has been convicted and could face life behind bars.
Hempstead resident Gabriel DeWitt Wilson, age 33, was found guilty on Wednesday, May 3 of murdering a Stop & Shop supervisor and attempting to murder two coworkers, the Nassau County District Attorney announced. He faces a potential maximum sentence of 90 years to life in prison. Wilson, who had been a Stop & Shop employee at the time, entered the West Hempstead grocery store with a weapon on April 20, 2021, at approximately 11:19 a.m. and headed up to the second-floor employee offices, according to trial testimony. He then went into the store manager’s office, where he shot a victim in the face and twice in the chest. The DA’s Office reports that Wilson then shot a female manager in the shoulder, with the bullet exiting through her back, before entering a second office and firing multiple rounds at 49-year-old manager Raymond Wishropp. Wishropp was struck in the chest and leg. ST. LOUIS — Authorities on Thursday charged a 20-year-old man with murder in the fatal shooting of a man in March.
Jerry Pergues is charged with first-degree murder, four counts of first-degree assault and five counts of armed criminal action. He was being held without bond on Thursday. The charges stem from the shooting death of Jevon Patterson, 23, on March 31. Police said they were called to the 5000 block of Thrush Avenue just after noon that day for a report of a shooting. Officers said they later found out a man had been shot in the stomach and someone was driving them to the hospital. |
(Black) North Augusta man arrested on one-year anniversary of 2022 murder
A North Augusta man has been charged in connection to a 2022 murder.
Freddie Lee Simpkins, 34, of North Augusta, was arrested Wednesday regarding the May 3, 2022 murder of Charles Bradley at the intersection of Hampton Avenue and Assembly Street, according to a news release from the Aiken Department of Public Safety. Simpkins was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, the release said. Officers with on patrol observed Simpkins on the front porch of a North Augusta residence on Wednesday, and he fled on foot once spotted. After a brief chase, Simpkins was apprehended without further incident, according to the report. The ATF RAGE Unit Task Force, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and North Augusta Department of Public Safety assisted with the location and apprehension of Simpkins, the release stated. |

Manhunt underway for (Black) who killed 1 and wounded 4 in Atlanta medical facility
Atlanta authorities are searching for the person who shot five people Wednesday at Northside Hospital Medical in Midtown Atlanta, killing one person and sending four others to the hospital, and then fleeing in a carjacked vehicle, Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said Wednesday.
A 39-year-old woman died, Schierbaum said during a Wednesday afternoon news conference. The injured victims were also all women, ranging from 25 to 71 years old. The suspect, whom authorities identified as 24-year-old Deion Patterson, left the building and is believed to have carjacked a vehicle nearby, the police chief said. He is still at large and there are active leads in Cobb County and in the city of Atlanta, Schierbaum said. Officers in Cobb County were searching in the areas of Vinings, Cumberland and Truist Park, according to a Twitter post from the Cobb County Police Department. “We are working diligently to bring this individual into custody,” the police chief added. |

COBB COUNTY, Ga. - A terrifying home invasion in Cobb County. An elderly couple was held at gunpoint and forced to hand over cash, gun and the keys to their car.
Ed and Linda Shanahan were watching TV when a stranger kicked his way through the front door of their home on Baker road last week. "I get up to get my gun, it's in the bedroom, before I could get there the guy is in the living room pointing his weapon at my head," said Ed Shanahan. The man held the couple at gunpoint and forced them into the bedroom. "He was in between the two of us and told her to hurry. She said I'm 80 years old what do you expect? I can't run!" said Shanahan. The Shanahans say the man wanted guns and cash. They handed over a little more than 300 dollars and a gun. He then told Linda Shanahan lie on her stomach on the bed and took Ed Shanahan to the kitchen. "I didn't know if I should try to do something, call 911 or press the alarm, but then thought if he heard me he may shoot him and then come back and shoot me," said Linda Shenahan. He made Ed Shanahan kneel down, he grabbed the keys to their car and took off. Police tracked the car and a few days later caught up with 36-year-old Earnest Williams. He is now in the Cobb County jail charged with 10 felonies. He's being held without bond. Williams has an Atlanta address. It began around 9:30 p.m. Sunday near Central Avenue and Thomas Road when an officer was flagged down by a woman who said she was just assaulted by the father of her children. As the officer and woman were speaking, police say the suspect, 24-year-old Rudy Gomez, approached. Moments later, the officer was punched multiple times in the face, then kicked while he was on the ground. Jake Bird was arrested in Tacoma, Washington, on Oct. 30, 1947. He broke into the home of Bertha Kludt and her daughter, Beverly June Kludt, and hacked them to death with an ax. He confessed to the killings and was sentenced to death. On Nov. 26, 1947, following a three-day trial, he was convicted of first-degree murder. He confessed to 44 murders during his travels as a hobo across the country. He was hanged at the Washington State Penitentiary on July 15, 1949.

Hickey, Ph.D., Director of Alliant International University's Center for Forensic Studies, wrote about how the Bird case challenges stereotypes of serial killers, who are mostly thought to be Caucasian males, whereas African-American killers typically are associated with urban violence. DENVER — One of the men involved in a summer of 1975 Colorado Springs crime spree that led to the deaths of at least three people has died, according to a news release from the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Michael Corbett died Monday night of what’s believed to be natural causes at a Denver-area hospital, the release says. Corbett’s first murder happened on June 19, 1975, while he was a soldier. According to the release, he, Freddie Glenn, and another codefendant robbed Daniel Van Lone. Van Lone, who was 29, had just gotten off the clock at his job at the Four Seasons Hotel when he was abducted and taken to a remote area. Police at the time said Van Lone begged for his life but to no avail. He was fatally shot in the head and robbed – netting his abductors just 50 cents, according to prosecutors. The next murder happened on June 27, 1975, when prosecutors said Corbett met with another soldier named Winfred Proffitt. The release says Corbett stabbed him in the chest with a knife, and later told investigators his only reason for stabbing Proffitt to death was to see what it feels like to stab someone with a knife. On July 1, 1975, prosecutors said Corbett and one of his co-defendants went to a Red Lobster restaurant with the intention of robbing it. When they thought someone was onto their plan, the release says they started to leave the building – and kidnapped 19-year-old Karen Grammer on their way out. Karen Grammer is actor Kelsey Grammer’s sister, and worked at the restaurant. She was waiting for her boyfriend to pick her up. Prosecutors said the young woman was repeatedly sexually assaulted and then taken to a mobile home park, where Glenn stabbed her several times and threw her into a car to die. “The only apparent motive for the murder of Karen Grammer was their belief that she might have been able to say they had attempted to rob the restaurant,” the release says. Glenn is still alive and in the custody of the Colorado Department of Corrections. A man arrested by Oklahoma City Police has been charged after allegedly repeatedly punching an officer until they lost consciousness, according to the department.
The department said officer Morgan Reynolds was attacked by 26-year-old DeAngelo Wright on Thursday while responding to a domestic call. Wright was arrested hours later on several complaints including aggravated assault and battery on a police officer, and is being held on a $10 million bond. Reynold's mother said she sustained a broken jaw and multiple facial fractures. Her mother thanked the community for their support in a Facebook post on Sunday, saying in part that Reynolds, "is out of surgery and doing good." (Black-on-White) |

One person is dead after an assault that happened on Thursday in northwest Oklahoma City, according to Oklahoma City Police.
Police said they responded to a disturbance at around 2:48 p.m. near North Virginia Avenue and Northwest 9th Street. Investigators learned that several individuals were involved in an altercation. The victim, Maalik Carter, 24, was attacked with a knife and later died at the hospital. Police arrested Algernon Reed after an interview and booked him into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a murder complaint. |

Earlier this year, a judge gave Charles L. Jones a second chance to try to beat the charges he killed his mother and his ex-girlfriend in Buffalo in 2019.
On Monday, just before the start of jury selection in his double murder trial, Jones – for the second time – admitted guilt in their deaths. As part of a plea agreement, Jones pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree manslaughter. Jones, 27, pleaded guilty in 2021 to two counts of second-degree murder for the fatal stabbings of Jacquetta L. Lee, 25, and Alethia Atwood Williams , 52. His initial plea came with no strings attached, meaning he could have faced up to 50 years to life in prison. As part of the plea deal, Erie County Judge Sheila A. DiTullio committed to 25-year sentences on each count, meaning Jones will be sentenced to 50 years in prison. |

MIAMI – A 16-year-old boy confessed to the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy in northeastern Miami-Dade County, police announced on Friday night.
Detective Angel Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department, identified the suspect as Davad Chrisbaw Brooks, and reported police officers arrested him on Friday in Doral accusing him of manslaughter with a deadly weapon. On December 2022, Diarus Chamblee was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and multiple weapons offenses stemming from the murder of Bell. INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man was convicted for a 2020 deadly shooting, the Marion County prosecutor said Friday.
Ivy Nunn was convicted after a three-day jury trial for his connection in the murder of Daniel Morris Jr. On Aug. 27 just after 8:30 a.m., officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to an area in the 3800 block of Guion Access Road on reports of a body found. That is just off 38th Street. Coroners identified the body as Daniel Morris Jr. and determined that he died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and pelvis, according to a release. Police say that Morris’s relatives and friends last had contact with him on Aug. 21. while he was in the 6100 block of Beachview Drive. That is located at Westlake Apartments. Detectives obtained surveillance video from the morning of Aug. 21 and saw three people arrive at the apartment at 2:24 a.m. Shortly after, two males are seen carrying another male’s body, placing it in their vehicle, the release said. On Sept. 11, U.S. Marshals located and arrested Nunn for murder in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. |

Police have charged a 26-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting in downtown Roanoke early Sunday
Brandon Jamal Woods, of Roanoke, was charged Monday with second-degree murder. Police have not identified any of the gunfire incident’s three victims. At about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, police on patrol in downtown heard gunshots coming from the 100 block of Campbell Avenue Southeast. Outside a business on that block, police found a man and a woman with gunshot injuries. The man’s wounds were critical. Both were transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where a third person, another man who was shot in the same incident, had arrived via a personal vehicle. The man found with critical injuries on Campbell later died, and police opened a homicide investigation. |

Police have arrested a Georgia man connected to the death of a man who was found shot in a ditch.
Barry Junior Bellinger, 37, of Lithonia, Georgia, was arrested Friday and is wanted for murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, kidnapping and carjacking, according to a media release from Aiken County Sheriff’s Department. On March 14, Jarvon Stapleton, 24, of Stonecreast, Georgia, was found lying on the side of the road by a passerby at the intersection of Old Barnwell Road and Kitchings Road, with gunshot wounds to the hand and head. Stapleton was taken to a local hospital and died. Over the course of the investigation, police identified Bellinger as a suspect in the death, the release said. Bellinger, who is also known as Alameen Mumin, was taken into custody at an apartment complex on Athena Lane in Lithonia, Georgia, by the U.S. Marshals Service and DeKalb County Police Department. |

BELLEVILLE — A Belleville mother was charged with first-degree murder Wednesday in the death of her 7-month-old son.
Peanina S. Porter, 25, is facing three counts in St. Clair Circuit Court for first-degree murder, endangering the life and health of a child, and obstructing justice in the death of her infant son, Richard D. Bowker III. Charges allege that on April 21. Porter inflicted head trauma on the child, then failed to get him proper medical care. She is also accused of starting a factory reset on her cellphone in an attempt to destroy evidence in the case. Porter’s bond was set at $1 million. |

Monica Carter-James and Destiny Washington, both from Greenville, have been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, first degree burglary, and second degree kidnapping. Greenville police say just after midnight on Tuesday they were called to the 3100 block of Moseley Drive. Victims told police a woman knocked on their apartment door and two armed men came in and stole marijuana, cash, technology including an iPad, and a gun. Ex-Fugees musician BLACK RAPPER Prakazrel "Pras" Michel has been found guilty of 10 counts, including corruption, stemming from allegations he used money to peddle influence in the US.
US prosecutors said Michel had received more than $100m (£80m) from Malaysian billionaire Jho Low that was used in two efforts to influence US politics. The self-identifying "celebrity surrogate" was also convicted of lobbying on behalf of China's government. The rapper now faces years in prison. Michel, 50, was convicted in a Washington DC court of campaign finance violations, acting as an unregistered foreign agent (f-ing spy, agent and traitor), witness tampering and lying to banks. His lawyer, David Kenner, said that he was disappointed with the outcome of the trial and planned to file an appeal. "This is not over," Mr Kenner said. "I remain very, very confident that we will ultimately prevail in this matter." Mr Kenner said he had also filed motions for a mistrial. The trial, which began on 30 March, saw testimony from Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, as well as former US Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The Grammy-winning musician was accused of bringing "secret, illegal, foreign influence to bear" during the administrations of Barack Obama and Donald Trump, between 2012 and 2017. Businessman Mr Low, who funnelled money to Michel, is accused of stealing about $4bn from Malaysia's sovereign wealth fund during the infamous 1MDB scandal. GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Two women have been arrested for an armed robbery that happened early Tuesday.
Monica Carter-James and Destiny Washington, both from Greenville, have been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, first degree burglary, and second degree kidnapping.
Greenville police say just after midnight on Tuesday they were called to the 3100 block of Moseley Drive. Victims told police a woman knocked on their apartment door and two armed men came in and stole marijuana, cash, and a gun.
Officers say they found a vehicle matching the suspects’ description a short time later on East 10th Street with Carter-James and Washington inside.
Police said both admitted to being involved in the robbery.
Additional people believed involved in the robbery have been identified, according to police, and more arrests are coming.
Both women have been jailed on $500,000 bonds.

The store’s assistant manager approached the defendant and told him to stop and attempted to pull the cart containing the stolen goods back into the store. Crawford then physically struck the victim over 10 times with an 11 pound bottle of laundry detergent causing physical injury to the victim’s face and teeth. Crawford and his accomplice(s) then loaded the stolen goods into a vehicle and fled the scene. PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — New court documents reveal a teen who reportedly killed his cousin claims he accidentally pulled the trigger when he stepped on a dog at a Phoenix motel last week.
On April 17, investigators say 17-year-old Sir Amir Williamson shot his cousin, 18-year-old Elijah Johnson, at the Budget Lodge Hotel off I-17 and Dunlap Avenue, before running away. The incident, according to a statement from the TSA, happened at around 5:55 a.m. at Terminal 4's Checkpoint D, when a female traveler allegedly attacked TSA officers during a security screening process, injuring three of them. TSA officials say of the three security officers injured, two of them were taken to an area hospital, where they were later released. The incident also resulted in Checkpoint D's closure. According to authorities, on Dec. 27, 2022, deputies responded to a trespasser, that had an active assault and battery in the third-degree warrant from an assault on the homeowner of the residence. The victim told deputies that the subject had been calling to attempt to make contact through alternative numbers and social media platforms, deputies say. The victim also has caught the subject multiple times, peeping in her bedroom at night while she is sleeping. The responding deputy says he saw the subject, Antonio James, 23, sitting in the car at the residence. Then held James at gunpoint to attempt to apprehend him. When officers got to the scene, they said they found Davaris Lindsey suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He died two days later from his injuries. Police put out a “be on the lookout” for Gunsby on Monday afternoon. A defendant is set to return to Colorado to face charges in the cold case murder of 35-year-old, Terri Turachak that occurred nearly 27 years ago.
Following successive rounds of DNA testing and a continued, years-long investigation, murder charges were filed against Ricky Dawson, 62, earlier this year as he returns to the state to face the charges.
On Oct. 5, 1996, Turachak's body was found in her apartment by Denver police and medical personnel. An autopsy report revealed she died from strangulation and blunt force trauma to her head. Authorities developed a lead years later when DNA evidence associated with the murder was matched to Dawson. He was 35 years old at the time of Turachak's murder. Dawson was extradited from Florida to Colorado by Denver Police Department detectives, while a prosecutor with the Denver DA's Office Cold Case Unit appeared in court in court as Dawson was advised of the charges against him on Thursday. SWAINSBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Authorities said Monday they’d arrested a second suspect in the shooting death of a 31-year-old man that occurred on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Darus Tashon Johnson, 31, of Swainsboro.
Just before 5 p.m. Wednesday, officers of the Swainsboro Police Department responded to a report of gunshots on New Street. Upon arrival, officers found a man lying on the roadway. Additional officers along with medical staff were on the scene just minutes later. Medical first responders began providing aid to the man as officers began to secure the scene and talk to any witnesses. Based on information from the scene, officers were able to find an apparent abandoned vehicle that fit the vehicle used by the suspects of the shooting, and a K-9 team was deployed from the car location. A dog quickly began to track human odor STENCH from the vehicle into the woods adjacent to vehicle, which led to the apprehension of John Gibbons, 57. Just before N 50th Street, the sports car slammed into the back of a Toyota Camry, launching the other vehicle into the air and causing it to explode. The Camry’s driver, Douglas Eugene Cade Jr., and his passenger, Jason Rzechula, both from St. Petersburg, were killed. On Thursday, a jury decided the Audi’s driver, Jorge Britton, was criminally responsible for their deaths. The panel of four men and two women deliberated about 2 1/2 hours before finding Britton guilty of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and other charges stemming from the December 2021 crash. Britton, 36, will be sentenced on May 25. He faces 30 years to life in prison. State prosecutors asserted that Britton was drunk when the crash occurred, and said that his driving was so reckless that he was guilty of vehicular homicide. TYLER, Texas (KETK) – On Friday a man pleaded guilty to murder in connection to the 2021 deadly shooting at the New Orleans Flavors Daiquiri in Tyler.
Jaderick Willis, 23 of Jacksonville, was sentenced to 35 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to murder in a Smith County court on Friday. According to an arrest affidavit, Tylsha Brown was celebrating her 46th birthday when she was shot and killed after a fight broke out in the parking lot of the daiquiri shop. According to the Tyler Police Department, more than 50 shots were fired during the shooting. Before he was arrested by police, Willis was initially listed as a victim because he was also injured in the shooting. In December of 2022, Dycorrian Lofton, 24 of Jacksonville, was sentenced to 3 years in prison for aggravated assault in connection to the 2021 shooting. Search underway for (Black) South Bend murder suspect
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WSBT) — South Bend Police are asking for help finding a man wanted for murder.
According to investigators, 23-year-old Keith Hardy shot Marlon Hudson and a second person from the other side of the street. Someone with Hudson returned fire, striking a third person. Hudson died at the scene from his injuries, and the two other victims were taken to the hospital. Hardy has now been charged with murder, and police have issued a warrant for his arrest. He is considered armed and dangerous. |

JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KLTV) - A suspect is in custody after two people were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds on Saturday.
Police responded to a report of a deceased person on Saturday and found two individuals who had died from apparent gunshot wounds. Sunday, police said the victims’ names were Toyn B. McCuin, 37, of Bullard, and Coray R. McCuin, 35, of Jacksonville. Dexter Lynn Davis, 29, of Jacksonville, was arrested Saturday evening on an unrelated charge and was later charged with capital murder, according to the Jacksonville Police Department. Davis has been booked into the Cherokee County Jail. |

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A former prominent Georgia political candidate was arrested Saturday and now faces multiple felony charges out of Cobb County, including kidnapping, according to deputies.
Zephaniah Baker, a former mayoral candidate out of Columbus, Georgia, who had previously run for office numerous times, was taken into custody by Muscogee County deputies after he had a warrant out for his arrest in Cobb County for kidnapping, aggravated assault disfigure, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime -- all felonies. He is also charged with two misdemeanors -- battery (family violence) and third degree cruelty to children. Baker was arrested at 12:45 a.m. on early Saturday morning. White County man who says SODOMITE priest molested him files lawsuit against Diocese of Little Rock, two churches
A White County man who says he was molested when he was a 10-year-old altar boy 42 years ago by a now-deceased Catholic priest filed suit Thursday against the Diocese of Little Rock and two churches where Richard Patrick Davis was pastor.
A Pocahontas native, Davis died in May 2020 at age 83 after 57 years as a priest in Arkansas, serving past the traditional retirement age of 65. He spent his last 14 years as the pastor of St. Boniface Church in New Dixie and, while assigned to St. Patrick Church in North Little Rock in the mid-to-late 1960s, taught religion at Mount St. Mary Academy and was the chaplain at St. Vincent Infirmary. His obituary in the Arkansas Catholic newspaper states he "created the Teen Aged Religious Education program, which helped teens in the Arkansas River Valley grow in their faith." A Knights of Columbus obituary describes Davis as "The Pope of Perry County" who performed more than 700 baptisms, 500 funerals and 500 weddings. In the 20-page lawsuit, the White County man is anonymous, identified as John Doe, and names two churches as co-defendants, St. James in Searcy and St. Albert in Heber Springs, where Davis was pastor from 1979 to 1983. According to the suit, Doe's best friend got him interested in the Catholic faith in 1981, taking him to Mass and catechism classes and other church-related activities at the Heber Springs church. Lorenzo Bustos was killed after he and a field training officer, Michael Skinner, conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation of the traffic stop, Bustos was standing behind his patrol car when another vehicle struck him. Police charge (Black) Roanoke man after fatal shooting at Grandin Road 7-Eleven
Police charged a Roanoke man with second-degree murder Monday after another man was fatally shot at a store in the Grandin Village neighborhood Sunday evening.
Police said a man was found fatally wounded about 9 p.m. inside a business in the 1400 block of Grandin Road Southwest. The shooting victim was not identified. Police didn’t name the business, but a citizen news alert issued Sunday night said it was the 7-Eleven convenience store on that block. Passers-by also recorded images of the store’s parking lot cordoned by police tape. On Monday afternoon, Roanoke police announced the arrest of 20-year-old Isaiah C. Baldwin. Police said that Baldwin had been identified as a suspect “in the early stages of the investigation” and a warrant for his arrest “was obtained overnight.” |

Police responded to the Best Buy on Nixon Drive after two armed peopled allegedly tried to take iPhones from the store.
Both suspects are described to be under 5 feet tall. One suspect was wearing a blue jumpsuit. 
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect who sources say attempted to sexually assault a woman near the University of Pennsylvania campus.
“What’s up, n–a,” he can be heard saying before allegedly shooting at the man, sending shocked pedestrians fumbling out of the line of fire.

Gilyard murdered at least 13 women, yet he received little media attention in the mid 1970s. He began strangling prostitutes in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri in 1977 at the age of 26. He was arrested 17 years later at the age of 42, and was caught because of DNA evidence.

Darren Deon Vann is suspected in the deaths of dozens of women in a period that may span almost 20 years. Vann confessed to the murder of at least six other Black women mostly thought to engage in the sex trade. Vann is a convicted sex offender with a long criminal history that includes aggravated rape in Austin, Texas, for which he served five years in prison. After he was released, he relocated to the Gary, Indiana area and was listed as a registered sex offender. At this point, police have stated that at least one other victim was also strangled to death but have not listed the cause of death of the other victims.
Lonnie Franklin, Jr., a former garbage man with the official police nickname of the “Grim Sleeper.” A Los Angeles jury found Franklin guilty after a two-month long trial for the murder of 10 Black women over a 20-year period. Franklin killed from 1985 thru 2007 and he was found guilty in 10 deaths, but may have killed many more. His victims were all mainly poor Black females, already victimized by the poverty of their circumstances during the 1980s crack epidemic. Some of the victims have been described as prostitutes and crack addicts and because of this, a low priority was given for the solving of their deaths. Also helping Franklin was his job as a trash collector and garage attendant for the Los Angeles Police Department.
