Houston police say BLACK suspected shooter may have been recently notified of eviction
A suspected gunman reportedly set fire to several residences in Houston early Sunday and began shooting people as they escaped the flames, killing three before police shot and killed the shooter, authorities said.
Firefighters and police responded just after 1 a.m. to 8020 Dunlap Street, which Houston Police Chief Troy Finner described as a residence that rents out multiple rooms. Finner said the suspect, identified as a Black man in his 40s who was armed with a shotgun, set fire to the residences and waited for the occupants to escape outside before firing on them. "I've seen things that I haven't seen before in 32 years, and it's happened time and time again," Finner said. "We just ask that the community come together." The Houston Fire Department arrived first and began battling the flames when the suspect began shooting, police said. It was unclear whether the suspect was firing on the firefighters, but police said they were forced to take cover. A Houston police officer arrived at the scene and spotted the suspect in the parking lot, where police said the officer shot and killed him. Finner said two victims were killed at the scene and a third died at a hospital. The victims were identified as two White males in their 60s and a Black male in his 40s. Two other victims were wounded in the shooting, but only one was hospitalized. Firefighters also pulled at least two victims out of the fire, according to fire officials. (Black-on-White) |
Some Pennsylvania Republicans defend Mastriano for posing in Confederate uniform
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Some Republicans in Pennsylvania defended Donald Trump-backed gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano on Saturday after Reuters published a 2014 photo of him posing in a Confederate uniform.
The previously unreported photo was released by the U.S. Army War College to Reuters under a Freedom of Information Act request. It showed Mastriano among the 2013-14 faculty for the Department of Military Strategy, Plans, and Operations, where he worked at the time. [NNN forum post by The Bobster]

Tavis Dunbar, 34, was arrested on Monday and charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree attempted murder after an investigation revealed that he "intentionally struck" the men, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said in a news conference. An 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon for the murder of a 16-year-old student who was at a bus stop in Indiana hours earlier.
Tyrique Sevin Radford El, 18, is accused of fatally shooting a Whiteland Community High School sophomore who was waiting for the bus before 7 a.m. with other students. Radford El initially fled the scene after what police said was a targeted shooting but was later taken into custody and preliminarily charged with murder, FOX 59 reported. His arrest came after a multiple agency manhunt that involved an Indiana State Police helicopter and an ATF K-9 officer. |
Akron police arrest BLACK man accused of murdering a 34-year-old mother
AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - The 31-year-old man wanted for the July murder of an Akron mother was arrested by police early Wednesday morning.
Akron police said Quinton Nixon killed Toni Westover, 34, on July 25. Westover was found shot to death at a home in the 2200 block of Maryland Ave. in Akron. According to police, after Westover’s murder, detectives worked tirelessly following up on leads, conducting interviews, and examining evidence. An arrest warrant for Nixon was issued earlier this month. Westover’s father believes Nixon was connected to his daughter’s boyfriend. |
(Black) 25-year-old sentenced to at least 22 years for deadly 2021 shooting in Slavic Village neighborhood
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - One of the suspects linked to a 2021 fatal shooting in Cleveland’s Slavic Village neighborhood was sentenced on Wednesday morning.
Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Sherrie Miday sentenced 25-year-old David Moore to a prison term of between 22 and 27 years. The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office said Moore, 23-year-old Terry Trussell, their younger 15-year-old brother were walking outside near Hosmer Avenue and East 57th Street in March 2021 when the teen suspect attempted to ambush a group of other individuals who were down the road. Moore, Trussell, and the brother each fired multiple shots as the group ran away, according to investigators. The victim, later identified as Garfield Heights resident Tyronte Peterson, was struck multiple times by the gunfire. |
Ohio Supreme Court upholds death penalty for BLACK man guilty of raping, torturing, killing 14-year-old girl
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) -19 News is learning more about the Ohio Supreme Court decision to keep the man who killed Alianna DeFreeze on death row.
Christopher Whitaker was sentenced to death in 2018 for kidnapping, raping and torturing the 14-year-old girl in a vacant home as she was on her way to school. Whitaker appealed the sentence and asked the court for life in prison instead but he was denied. Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Mike O’Malley and Assistant Prosecutor Mahmoud Awadallah, who tried the case, told 19 News that despite Whitaker’s attempts to get off death row, he is ‘right where he belongs.’ |
(Black) Former Akron pastor under investigation after cremated remains were found inside his church sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The former lead pastor of an Akron church is found guilty of operating a funeral home without a license, and is now headed to prison for nearly 12 years.
Minister Shawnte Hardin was convicted in early August on 31 criminal charges that include: operating an unlicensed funeral home, abuse of a corpse, passing bad checks, theft, and tampering with records. Pastor Hardin is the same man linked to the cremated remains of nearly 90 people found inside of Hardin’s now former church on Buchtel Avenue, that case remains under investigation by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. According to Hardin’s attorney the cremated bodies were being stored at the church, after a friend of Hardin’s who was a Toledo funeral home director, lost his license. That funeral director said he was storing the cremains as he tried to locate relatives of the deceased, but that Toledo funeral director has since passed away. |
(Black) Man arrested after officials find $992,000 worth of drugs in stash house in Amarillo
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Amarillo officials has arrested a man after finding around $992,000 worth of drugs in a stash house in Amarillo.
According to criminal complaint, on August 17, Amarillo RO Agents received information about a possible stash house.
During the investigation the stash house was found to be controlled by a man named Alex “Crow” Halissi Bell. The complaint says, on August 18, a search warrant was received for a home at N. Mirror and S. Virginia. Before the warrant search at the house, surveillance was found on Bell’s home where he was followed by police from his apartment to the parking lot of the stash house. Bell was detained by law enforcement in the parking lot of the apartment complex as part of the investigation. |

Tennessee drug bust yields $160k in narcotics, 3 BLACKS arrested
Three people are under arrest after police officers in Memphis, Tennessee seized a major haul of drugs and weapons while executing a narcotics search warrant.
The arrests came after the Memphis Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit Team Six executed a narcotics search warrant at a home in south Memphis on August 12 that included a K-9 officer who alerted to the presence of drugs throughout the building, WHBQ-TV reported. Police ultimately recovered almost 30 grams of marijuana, two Ecstasy pills, three Oxycodone pills, several handguns, an assault rifle, digital scares and over two pounds of fentanyl. |

(Black) Colleton County man sentenced for 2017 triple murder
WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCSC) - A Colleton County man has received the maximum possible sentence for each of five charges for which a jury returned guilty verdicts Friday afternoon.
Kenneth Chisolm was on trial in the shooting deaths of 46-year-old Phillip Miller, 52-year-old Lori Miller and 13-year-old Vincent Miller. In addition to the three murder convictions, a jury convicted him on a charge of attempted murder and a charge of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. A judge sentenced him to three life sentences for the murders, 30 years for the attempted murder charge and five years for the weapons charge. He will serve those sentences concurrently. The jury deliberated for about two hours after a four-day trial. The trial included emotional testimony from the girl injured in the shooting as well as other family members. La Shay Aiken, the getaway driver, also testified saying she saw the murders and named Chisolm as the shooter. |
Second BLACK suspect arrested in connection to Sumter auto shop murder case
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said a second suspect was arrested in connection to the death of Willie McDuffie.
Senque Rashad-Tyrek Robinson was arrested Friday morning after investigators said they received an anonymous tip. He was located at a residence on Hidden Oaks Rd in Sumter. A warrant said he conspired with a co-defendant to commit a robbery related to the death of McDuffie. McDuffie was found dead on the morning of July 19 inside the auto shop in the 1500 block of Airport Rd. McDuffie has been in communication with Priscilla Maria Graves on July 18 about repair work and had been asked by her to meet him at the shop. Investigators said she conspired to commit an armed robbery on McDuffie. He was robbed of a large sum of money and shot several times. He was found dead the next day before the business opened. |

A Wendy’s customer who flew into a rage when his drive-thru order was wrong unleashed fury and bullets on the fast-food workers he believed messed up his meal, according to local reports.
Christian Ellis, 19, went to a Wendy’s location in Frisco, Texas, on Aug. 17, according to the local FOX station. After picking up his food at the drive-thru window, he went inside the store and began arguing with employees about what was in his Biggie Bag. Ellis left the store and fired at the building as he was driving away. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Police in Frisco — located north of Dallas — arrested him two days later and charged the teen gunman with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Two people who were in the car with Ellis were also charged for not turning him in. |

Ladre Smith has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott. Investigators say around 1:30 a.m., on July 25, an FAPD officer observed a suspicious vehicle in a neighborhood off Decker Blvd. The officer then followed the vehicle as it traveled across Decker Blvd onto Dupont Drive. |

Judge certifies 2nd-degree murder, arson charges for (Black) Virginia Beach man accused of 3-person killing spree 
The man accused of a string of three Hampton Roads homicides appeared in Virginia Beach court Thursday, where a judge certified the charges against him in two of the killings.
During a preliminary hearing Thursday, investigators testified about the confession Cola W. Beale IV gave and they provided additional details about the two homicides that occurred in Virginia Beach. A third killing happened in Norfolk and Beale faces separate charges there. Beale previously admitted in an interview with media to killing his girlfriend, a father figure and cousin in separate incidents in March. Beale confessed to shooting his girlfriend, 31-year-old Czavi’er Hill, and his father figure, 73-year-old Clifton Baxter. “He was very matter of fact,” Jachimiak said. “He wanted to get the story off his chest.” Baxter, who helped raise Beale, was found dead from a gunshot wound in his Virginia Beach home March 25. Downing D. Mclean, Beale’s 32-year-old cousin, was found dead March 29 in Norfolk. Beale told him he then brought in the woman’s dog, which he set on fire in front of her before shooting her. |

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A man was arrested for a shooting that killed one person and injured three others on the North Side this month.
Police said 25-year-old Andrew Johnson of Coraopolis was arrested in Westview on multiple charges, including homicide and three counts of aggravated assault. Officers were called to Brighton Place on the night of Aug. 7 after receiving multiple Shotspotter alerts for several rounds fired. First responders immediately found three men with gunshot wounds who were taken to the hospital. Police said 40-year-old Stephone Drayton was shot in the chest and died at the hospital. Police said another man was in serious condition after being shot in the knee, while another man was in stable condition after being shot in the foot. According to police, the fourth victim was grazed in the arm, but he refused to go to the hospital with medics. |

HOUSTON - A woman is accused of ambushing and shooting to death the current girlfriend of a man she had dated, court documents show.
Tranisha Latavia Miller, 25, is charged with murder and aggravated assault of a family member. She is accused in the death of 20-year-old Chante Wilson.
Miller did not appear at a probable cause court hearing overnight where her bond was set at $750,000 for the murder charge and $150,000 for the aggravated assault of a family member charge. The shooting occurred in the 3700 block of Faulkner Street around 1:45 a.m. August 8. According to police and court documents, Wilson and her boyfriend were walking from a corner store when the suspect jumped out from between parked cars and began shooting. |
(Black) 21-year-old charged in deadly 2021 gas station shooting in North City
NORTH ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - Murder charges have been filed against a 21-year-old man connected to a shooting at a north St. Louis gas station last year.
On Jan. 13, 2021, Moy’e Elkins was found shot multiple times at the BP Gas Station in the 3500 block of Natural Bridge, which is in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood. The 30-year-old was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. Over a month after Elkins’ murder, police released photos of two persons of interest in the case. In late July, police re-released the photos and continued to push for anyone who can identify them to contact detectives. Wednesday, St. Louis City prosecutors charged Daevone Austin, 21, with murder and armed criminal action. No additional information has been released at this time. |

Charles Dickens Imene Oliha, 46, allegedly raped a 24-year-old woman who lives in his Washington Heights apartment building after he forced his way into her apartment Sunday afternoon, police said. Oliha was taken into custody after his accuser called the NYPD, but the United Nations emissary was released without being charged after cops found he was protected from US laws by diplomatic immunity, officials said. South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation confirmed that Oliha had returned to Africa in a statement released Thursday. |

BALTIMORE -- A 23-year-old man has been charged in a shooting in West Baltimore earlier this month, police said.
Darius Peay, of Baltimore, is charged with first- and second-degree attempted murder and several gun-related charges. Investigators believe Peay shot a 37-year-old man after an argument on August 8 at the corner of Laurens at Pennsylvania Avenue. A handgun was arrested from the suspect when he was arrested Sunday, police said. Peay is being held at Central Booking. |

A crew of muggers attacked and robbed a 67-year-old man in the Bronx — returning for a second round as the victim struggled to get on his feet, new video shows.
Video released early Thursday by the NYPD shows at least four suspects chasing the victim on the sidewalk at East 151st Street and Courtlandt Avenue in Melrose around 2:30 a.m. August 15. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV) - Charges were filed against two people after a 11-month-old girl overdosed on fentanyl in north St. Louis County in early August.
Destini McConnell, 21, and Jerome Jones, 22, are facing child endangering charges. Both are being held on a $100,000 bond. On August 11, an 11-month-old girl ingested fentanyl and overdosed. Police there was a 15-minute delay between when the child was unconscious and when 911 was called. |

Khosay Sharifi: female migrant from Kabul, Afghanistan murdered three male members of her family in Massachusetts then herself - accusing them of sexually abusing her sister and perhaps herself 
The suspect was a 31-year-old woman who shot and killed her father, 66; her brother-in-law, 33; and her brother-in-law’s father, 56, according to the television station. She was later found dead in a car at the Stop & Shop grocery store.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - U.S. Marshals has arrested one of the men connected to the murder of a 16-year-old near Sycamore street.
Officials say on Aug. 23, at around 5 a.m., U.S. Marshals found Jimmy Whitlock in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Tifanee Wright, 33, is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing Yveonne Nelson.
According to the U.S. Marshals, she was arrested around 2 a.m. Tuesday. The Two Rivers Task Force, Shelby County Fugitive Apprehension Team, and Memphis Police Fugitive Apprehension Team went to an address in the 2000 block of Stoneway Lane in Memphis to arrest Wright, officials said. |

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB) - The trial for Brandon Francisco, 36, of Mansura, in Rapides Parish is on hold until further notice by the Louisiana Supreme Court as the court reviews a writ filed by the Rapides Parish District Attorney’s Office.
Francisco is charged with attempted second-degree murder for a 2018 shooting near Cheneyville, which court documents state involved an alleged outstanding drug debt. Jury selection was underway Tuesday, Aug. 23, with the first panel of potential jurors being questioned when Judge Greg Beard got word from the Supreme Court that there had been a stay ordered. This comes after Assistant District Attorneys Johnny Giordano and Brian Cespiva, notified the court last week of their intent to introduce evidence of a prior conviction for attempted second-degree murder that happened in Avoyelles Parish. In that case, Francisco pleaded guilty to stabbing his ex-girlfriend in 2007 upwards of 20 times. Defense attorney Tiffany Sanders argued that the case should not be allowed to be discussed during the trial because it was a domestic violence incident, and the case at hand involved an alleged drug debt. Francisco is also a person of interest in the disappearance of Ella Goodie of Scott, Louisiana. That case remains under investigation. |

CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - Agents from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) arrested former Clarendon County deputy Antonio Pearson, 36, of Sumter, S.C.
Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley requested SLED investigate Pearson.
Pearson was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 18 for misconduct in office, disseminating obscene material to a person under the age of 18, criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 16 and sexual exploitation of a minor. According to an arrest warrant while employed as a deputy, Pearson and the minor engaged in sexual activity. The victim stated to SLED, she was asked by Pearson to exchange sexual photos with him. Pearson was booked at the Clarendon County Detention Center. |

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Alexandria Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday, August 16, on Alma Street.
APD said Javon Sanders, of Alexandria, surrendered to police Friday, August 19. He was charged with armed robbery, simple battery and aggravated assault with a firearm. Sanders was previously arrested by APD on May 7 and charged with illegal possession of a stolen firearm and possession of CDS I second marijuana tetrahydrocannabinol or chemical derivatives thereof. |

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - North Charleston Police arrested a man accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint and stealing her car after a brief standoff early Monday morning.
Arthur Squire, 41, is charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon, grand larceny (value $2,000-$10,000), and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to jail records. Police responded at approximately 1:21 a.m. Monday to the Wingate at Wyndham where a robbery had been reported, an incident report states. The victim told police she and a man, later identified as Squire, agreed to meet via a dating app. The victim claimed Squire “popped two unknown pills and wanted to smoke in the room.” The victim told Squire he could not smoke in the room and he pulled out a gun and zip ties and threw them on the bed, then took her phone and purse and left the room. The victim went to the lobby to call 911 and realized her car, a 2012 Blue Chevy Traverse, was missing. Police tracked the victim’s iPhone to a nearby motel on Rivers Avenue where they spotted Squire in her vehicle getting out and walking to one of the rooms, the report states. |

Chicago police arrest (Black)man suspected of pushing CTA rider onto tracks
A man suspected of pushing a CTA rider off a Blue Line Platform on Chicago's Near West Side and onto the tracks earlier this month was arrested Monday, authorities said.
James Stamps, 28, was taken into custody in the 2600 block of South California Avenue in the city's Little Village neighborhood, the Chicago Police Department said. Stamps is believed to have been caught on video pushing another person off the edge of the Illinois Medical District Blue Line Platform in the 400 block of South Damen Avenue around 7 a.m. on Aug. 5. Video police released at the time shows the suspect and the victim passing each other on the platform when the suspect suddenly reaches out and shoves the victim, who falls onto the train tracks below the platform. The 26-year-old victim was treated at a hospital and released, WLS-TV reported at the time, citing police. No details about the victim have been released following the incident. |

The alleged molestation took place in a bathroom at the McDonald’s location on North Clark street in Chicago - the former site of the Rock 'n' Roll McDonald's flagship restaurant. The incident happened at around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. A security guard responded to the incident. Sutton allegedly battered the 61-year-old security guard. Police soon arrived and took the suspect, who reportedly resisted arrest, into custody. |

Two people have been charged with breach of peace after a large brawl at a Chuck E. Cheese in South Carolina.

CHINESE SPY: Former Apple engineer accused of stealing automotive trade secrets pleads guilty 
Xiaolang Zhang, a former Apple employee who was accused of stealing computer files with trade secrets about Apple’s secretive iCar division, pleaded guilty in federal court in San Jose on Monday.
Zhang was arrested by federal agents in July 2018 at the San Jose airport where he planned to fly to China. Apple first suspected Zhang of stealing trade secrets after he took paternity leave and traveled to China. When he came back to the company, he turned in his resignation, saying that he wanted to move back to China and take care of his mother, according to the 2018 complaint. Another former Apple employee, Jizhong Chen, is also facing charges related to allegedly stealing trade secrets from Apple’s electric car division in early 2019. An owner and director of a Florida daycare school was arrested Friday after deputies learned that a child was being abused, authorities said.
Rong Liu, 51, was taken into custody following a two-month investigation during authorities determined Liu was physically abusive with children in her care at Children's Land of Imagination Academy in Odessa, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said. BLACK-ON-WHITE: BLACK Man bought gun less than a week before shooting WHITE 70-year-old woman near Florence
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — An affidavit reveals the man accused of killing an elderly woman outside Florence earlier this month bought a pistol less than a week before shooting.
Joshua Gilbreath, 26, was arrested Saturday and charged with murder in the death of Diana Lynn Pier, 70. She was a grandmother, and deputies believed she may have stopped to help someone on the road before the shooting. KXAN has reached out to Gilbreath’s attorney. We will update this story once a response is received. ‘Unprovoked’: Arrest made in murder of 70-year-old Florence grandmother The shooting took place the night of Aug. 4 in the 4500 block of CR 245, west of Highway 195 and south of Florence. The arrest affidavit for Gilbreath stated a witness said she saw a silver sedan, which deputies identified as the suspect’s car, parked in the southbound lane of CR 245 with its flashers on. Then, another vehicle, identified as Pier’s, passed the suspect’s car and pulled into a driveway area. According to the affidavit, the witness saw someone running from the rear of Pier’s car to the suspect’s car, which was still parked in the roadway. The suspect’s car drove off “at a high rate of speed” afterward. After the suspect’s car left the area, the witness told deputies she walked to the end of the driveway and saw a woman, later identified as Pier, lying in the roadway in a pool of blood. Deputies wrote in the affidavit a shell casing was found in the road near Pier’s head. The affidavit stated a tip on Aug. 11 said Gilbreath divulged details about the shooting to someone while at a Pflugerville bar. “Joshua stated he pulled his vehicle over on a side road and a vehicle pulled over behind his vehicle. The woman got out of her vehicle, and he shot her when she approached him,” the affidavit stated of the conversation. Family of grandmother killed in Williamson County homicide victim speaks Deputies also said in the affidavit they obtained a receipt showing Gilbreath bought a used pistol in Pflugerville on July 29. They also got photos of the cartridges Gilbreath purchased the same day, and they matched the cartridge found at the CR 245 scene. Deputies said based off the matching shell casings and cell phone records that put Gilbreath at the scene of murder, among other factors, they believed Gilbreath was the suspect, according to the affidavit. 64-year-old NYC man with foreign name savagely beaten with rock in subway attack by SAVAGE BLACK
A 64-year-old man was beaten with a rock in a brutal attack on a Brooklyn subway platform on his way home from work this weekend, cops said.
Intazar Dar was riding the Q train from his security guard gig in Lower Manhattan just before 1 a.m. Saturday when he was randomly attacked at the Avenue H station in Midwood, according to police. Dar told ABC’s “Eyewitness News” he first noticed his alleged attacker mumbling loudly and pacing onboard the Q train. When the train pulled into the Avenue H station, the victim said the shirtless suspect got off and started arguing with him. The suspect then jumped onto the tracks, grabbed a rock, and pulled himself back onto the platform. Surveillance footage released by cops showed the unidentified suspect shoving Dar on the platform as the victim tried to approach the turnstiles. The suspect then allegedly bashed Dar in the head repeatedly with the rock, causing him to lose consciousness, according to police. Billy Norwood, also known as “Billy the Kid,” has an active warrant for murder in the slaying of 51-year-old Eldred Bogan, who was shot at Blessings Convenience Store on Pecan Street, said Mobile police Cpl. Katrina Frazier.
Norwood should be considered armed and dangerous, and residents were urged not to approach him.
Mobile officers responded to Blessing Convenience Store at 1300 Pecan St. around 3:04 p.m. Monday on a call of a person shot, said Frazier.
That’s where police found the Bogan suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, she said.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.

A Los Lunas man has been charged in the rape and stabbing of a 70-year-old woman Friday morning along the bosque trail in the South Valley.
Reginald Hall, 19, was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, two counts of criminal sexual penetration, kidnapping and animal cruelty in connection with the incident, according to jail records. It is unclear if he has an attorney and his family could not be reached. Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jayme Fuller said Saturday that Hall also started a fire after the initial attack, telling investigators he did so “because he was cold.” Fuller said the woman who was stabbed is in stable condition and expected to recover. Abdul Mallory has convictions for both drug trafficking and possession, said the U.S. Marshals. According to the U.S. Marshals, Mallory, 28, was last known to be living in the Lorain and Cleveland area. |

BALTIMORE -- A 29-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting earlier this month in Southwest Baltimore, police said.
Officers responded the afternoon of August 5 to the 1211 block of Bernard Drive for a shooting, where they found a man shot multiple times. He was hospitalized in serious condition. Laquawn Foster was arrested last Friday in connection with the shooting, police said. Detectives believe Foster shot the victim during a dispute. Investigation with Florida ties focuses on separatist group Black Hammer
A federal indictment in Tampa alleges the group is involved in an effort by a Russian citizen to sow discord in the United States by paying fringe groups to make political protests.
A Georgia-based Black separatist group is being investigated by federal and local authorities for a range of possible criminal offenses including drug and gun offenses, kidnapping and human trafficking, a detective testified Tuesday in a court hearing in suburban Atlanta. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Fayetteville Police investigator Diana Snider testified in magistrate court that she began investigating the Black Hammer Party after the group moved its headquarters to the town south of Atlanta. She said she was contacted by the FBI, which she said is also investigating. Two members of the group have been charged with felonies relating to an alleged kidnapping and sexual assault in July at the house the group rents in Fayetteville. A spokesperson for the FBI’s Atlanta office declined to comment citing the agency’s policy not to comment on ongoing investigations. A federal indictment unsealed last month in Tampa alleges the group is involved in an effort by a Russian citizen with Kremlin connections to sow discord in the United States by paying fringe groups to make political protests. The indictment includes groups in Florida and California, as well as the Black Hammer Party, as unindicted co-conspirators to the plot. A search warrant believed to be connected to the indictment was served at the Uhuru House in St. Petersburg on July 29. Though the indictment did not name the Uhurus, descriptions of the Florida group and its top leaders as unindicted co-conspirators matched the organization. The indictment alleged that the Russian citizen used the group to sow division, spread pro-Russian propaganda and interfere in St. Petersburg city council elections. (Black) Anchorage man indicted on double murder, sexual abuse charges
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A man that was arrested in New York state after fleeing Alaska was indicted Thursday on murder and sexual abuse charges, according to a release from the Alaska Department of Law.
Jalonni Marcel Blackshear , 39, was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of first-degree murder and four counts of second-degree murder, as well as two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor, two counts of incest, two counts of tampering with physical evidence and one count of first-degree forgery. The indictment stems from a double homicide case that began when Anchorage police found Raechyl Blackshear, 35, and Jayla Blackshear, 14, dead with “shotgun wounds” on April 15 in a residence on Resurrection Drive in the Scenic Foothills neighborhood of Northeast Anchorage. Previously, Jalonni Blackshear had been accused of sexually abusing Jayla in a criminal complaint. Thursday’s release said the incidents occurred between March 30 and April 4. Blackshear, a former correctional officer with the state of Alaska, fled the state and was caught on Staten Island, New York, by Homeland Security Officers on April 20, according to the release. |

The suspect was on the run all that time, wanted by the FBI and Atlanta Police, accused of killing 18-year-old Jafferd Tucker in Atlanta in 1994. On Tuesday, sharp-eyes deputies just east of Atlanta, in Oconee County, captured the fugitive during a routine traffic stop. Oconee County Deputy Devan Blair was on patrol doing random vehicle registration checks, and she stopped a car that had come up in the tag check as having an expired registration. She didn’t know, at first, that the driver she stopped is Muhammed Bilal El-Amin, who’d been running from an Atlanta Police murder warrant, accusing him of shooting his friend, Jafferd Tucker, at the Oakland City MARTA station in southwest Atlanta on November 27, 1994. |

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio (WOIO) - A man wanted for a May murder at a home in Cuyahoga Falls is now behind bars.
The U.S. Marshal Service Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Deair Johnson on Friday.
Cuyahoga Falls police said Johnson, 28, of Akron, shot and killed Giovanni Stanford in the 1300 block of Forest Glen Drive on May 26. Stanford, 23, was shot inside an apartment. A woman was also shot, but survived. Johnson is charged with murder, felonious assault and discharging a firearm into a habitation. |
Eastlake police charge BLACK man with shooting woman that he was having sex with - in the face
EASTLAKE, Ohio (WOIO) - A 39-year-old Eastlake man is now formally charged with shooting a woman in the face earlier this week.
Eastlake police said Pierre Morgan is charged with felony domestic violence for the Aug. 17 shooting.
According to officers, the woman was shot in the 1200 block of East 344th Street around 2:30 p.m. She was transported to a local hospital, but her condition and name have not been released at this time. Morgan was taken into custody later that day. He is currently on bond and is scheduled back in court on Aug. 30. |

Wisconsin school board votes to ban pride, BLM flags from classrooms A Wisconsin school board voted in favor of a policy banning gay pride flags and Black Lives Matter (BLM) flags from classrooms due to what school leaders say is political messaging. "Teachers and administration will not have political flags or religious messaging in their classroom or on their person," Superintendent Stephen Plum said ahead of the vote, according to Fox 6. The Kettle Moraine School Board voted last Tuesday in favor of keeping a code of conduct in place that the school's superintendent had interpreted as banning teachers from displaying political and religious messages in classrooms. The political messages include ones such as gay pride flags, BLM flags and "We Back the Badge" signs. Only one school board member voted against the ban, saying he made the decision after speaking with concerned students and staff. The policy also includes banning teachers from including their preferred pronouns in email signatures. |

Police identify BLACK Manchester mall shooting suspect
MANCHESTER, CT — Police have issued an arrest warrant for a Windsor man they say shot a loss prevention officer at the Shoppes at Buckland Hills on Friday afternoon.
Police on Saturday night identified the suspect as 30-year-old Richard “Rico” LaPlante, of Windsor. He remains at-large, according to police. The shooting occurred when the loss prevention officer attempted to confront a Macy’s shoplifting suspect later identified as LaPlante, Manchester Police Lt. Ryan Shea said. LaPlante shot the officer in the abdomen outside the Macy’s men’s store at around 12:20 p.m. Friday, according to Manchester Police Capt. John Laughlin. |

Virginia school district employed BLACK convicted sex offender for months before firing
A Virginia school district informed parents on Wednesday that a counselor at one of its middle schools was fired after administrators learned that he had previously been convicted of "solicitation of prostitution from a minor."
Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Michelle Reid sent a letter to families stating that the counselor continued his employment at Glasgow Middle School in Lincolnia, Virginia, despite being convicted of a sex crime against a minor. "I am writing to make you aware of the action that I am taking as a result of being notified of a serious situation at Glasgow Middle School regarding a counselor who continued to be employed despite being convicted – outside of Fairfax County – of ‘solicitation of prostitution from a minor’. I want to assure you that as soon as the School Board and I knew of the situation, we took immediate steps to dismiss the employee. I can confirm that the employee has been terminated and FCPS is petitioning the state to revoke his license," Reid wrote. A spokesperson for the school district confirmed to Fox News that Darren Thornton, a counselor at Glasgow Middle School, was fired, and the district is petitioning the state to take away his teaching license. |

Minneapolis police arrested a man who witnesses say lit a vehicle on fire Wednesday morning.
A criminal complaint names 22-year-old Kingston Sebastian Gaulden Jr. as a suspect facing second-degree arson charges. Minneapolis firefighters said their crews received reports of an unknown male starting a car on fire in the 1000 block of Spring Street Northeast at about 8 a.m. Wednesday. The fire was extinguished, but the vehicle was considered a total loss in excess of $15,000, according to the criminal complaint. Bond granted for BLACK man indicted in Murdaugh cases, accused of removing evidence
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A bond hearing took place in Richland County for a man indicted of removing evidence in the Alex Murdaugh cases. Friday morning Attorney General Alan Wilson said Jerry K. Rivers was one of four people indicted by the Grand Jury.
Rivers is accused of removing a cell phone belonging to someone under arrest from a scene where law enforcement was conducting a search. He is charged with obstruction of justice. Rivers’ hearing was scheduled for 2:15 p.m. at the Richland County Courthouse. Prosecutors said Rivers was present at a gambling location involving Spencer Roberts. Roberts is an associate of Murdaugh and is also indicted in crimes related to his cases. Investigators called Rivers one of the people ‘downstream’ in the cases. Police executed a search warrant and arrested Roberts. Investigators told other individuals at the scene, including Rivers of the search warrant and to empty their pockets. During the search police found 15 grams of heroin and crack. They were also looking for Roberts’ cell phone. |

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A man has been charged with six counts of auto-breaking and possession of burglary tools.
According to the Columbia Police Department, Jaheim Thomas, 20, is accused of breaking into cars on 325 Taylor St. Wednesday.

Winnsboro man shot DEAD by BLACK during altercation near Fairfield Central High School
Winnsboro, S.C. (WIS) - Officials say an altercation on Friday, Aug. 19, around 11:45 p.m. resulted in one man being shot.
Winnsboro Department of Public Safety responded to reports of a man shot multiple times at a local Exxon at the intersection of US Hwy 321 and Ninth Street. According to Chief John Seibles, a man was in a confrontation with another man in the store, when one of the men was shot multiple times by a third man. The victim was transported to Prisma Health where he later died due to his injuries. The suspect, Dydreekus Dwight Jaqueli McDaniel, 24, was arrested and booked into the Fairfield County Detention Center and charged with murder. |

MANNING, S.C. (WIS) - According to the Manning Police Department, the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office assisted in arresting a suspect.
The suspect, Aaron King, was seen by an officer at Murphy’s Gas Station near Walmart.
The officer noticed King had a general session bench warrant and tried to serve the warrant. According to Manning Police Chief Keith Grice, King locked himself in the bathroom at the gas station. King crawled up into the ceiling, officers had to remove tiles to get him out. Officials say no one was injured and no customers were inside at the time. King is currently in custody at the Clarendon County Detention Center. |

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - In the early morning on August 5, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of someone walking around Oakcrest Road assaulting individuals.
One victim reported the 21-year-old Jabar Zuell forced his way into her home and attempted to choke her.
The victim then said she armed herself and ran towards a neighbor’s house to lure Zuell away from her children. He reportedly then attempted to choke and assault the neighbor. Deputies say Zuell also kicked in the door at a third residence, but no one was home at the time. Zuell was found in the middle of the street and taken to a local hospital and later released. He is currently at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center pending an appearance in circuit court after his bond was denied. Zuell is being charged with assault and battery and burglary. ARCADIA, Calif. - A suspected gunman is in custody after authorities say he shot a cop in the face and then led SWAT on an hours-long standoff in Arcadia.
A source initially told FOX 11 of a possible shooting investigation in the 2500 block of Greenfield Avenue on Wednesday afternoon. The Arcadia Police Department later confirmed the location of the incident, adding that the incident stemmed from a family disturbance. US, Mexican authorities stop truck smuggling 150 illegal migrants in dangerous heat
Mexican authorities prevented the smuggling of 150 migrants crammed into a large truck over the southern border amid dangerously temperatures in Texas, Fox News has learned.
Law enforcement in Mexico were assisted by agents with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Del Rio Sector, which covers 245 miles along the Rio Grande and Lake Amistad along the border, when they stopped the truck. Hispanic California man allegedly tried to set grocery store employee on fire for making him pay for food
A Southern California homeless man was arrested after allegedly trying to set a grocery store employee on fire.
Police said 31-year-old Raul Bautista tried to leave a grocery store without paying for his cart of groceries. When an employee confronted Bautista, he allegedly unleashed a fiery response. Bautista sprayed the store employee with lighter fluid and tried to set the victim on fire before running away from the store, police said. Bautista was arrested soon after the incident and was charged with attempted murder and robbery. He is being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center on $1 million bail. A private housing co-op just off the University of California, Berkeley campus has banned White visitors in common areas or without consent from other tenants.
The "Person of Color Theme House" is a housing co-op located near UC Berkeley that "aims to provide housing to low-income, first generation, immigrant and marginalized students of color," according to its website. Jury begins deliberations in trial of Anthony Ford, BLACK man accused of killing 5-month-old daughter
BALTIMORE -- Jury deliberations have started in the trial of Anthony Ford, the man accused of killing his 5-month-old daughter, Brailynn, in 2018.
Ford faces charges of second-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, child abuse resulting in serious physical injury and first-degree assault.
He has testified he did not kill his daughter. Brailynn Ford died in October 2018, several days after she was taken to the hospital with signs of trauma on her body. The girl's family said she was in her father's care before she was hospitalized. They said they had no reason to believe that he would harm his daughter. Ford was arrested days after his daughter's death and has been held in custody ever since. In court Wednesday, the assistant medical examiner testified that Brailynn had bruising all over her body, injuries he said were consistent with blunt force trauma. |

Georgia police are desperately searching for an accused rapist who allegedly pretends to be a youth pastor before sexually assaulting women.
Marco Aries Johnson, 46, is suspected of rape by the Dunwoody Police Department. Police have not revealed how many victims Johnson has allegedly abused, but are looking for tips to discern more information about him. Investigators say that Johnson targets women near bus stops. After approaching them and engaging in conversation, the suspect allegedly tells them that he is a "priest of EFY religion and a spiritual reader." In the Church of Latter-Day Saints, EFY stands for Especially For Youth and is the name of a week-long seminar for young Mormons. "Johnson then brings the women to an apartment in Dunwoody, beats them, and sexually assaults them," the police department says. He has been seen in the Georgia cities of Chamblee and Doraville as well. Officers say that Johnson is 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighs roughly 170 pounds. He also has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen with a beard. |
4 BLACK men arrested, charged with capital murder in connection to DeSoto shooting
DESOTO, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) — DeSoto police arrested four men they believe are connected to a July 15 shooting that left a young man dead in his own home.
Deharvian Arthur, 22, of Arlington, Edron Blacknell, 22, of Cedar Hill, Xavier Dixon, 23, of Dallas, and Calap Williams, 23, of Arlington, have all been charged with capital murder and are being held on individual bonds of $1 million. On July 15, 2022 at about 2:00 a.m., officers responded to a call from the 600 block of Canyon Place about shots being fired. They arrived to find Theo Stith, 24, had been shot and killed. Just outside of Stith's home, police found Dixon with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was given first aid and taken to the hospital by DeSoto firefighters. Police did not release a motive, say how the men all knew one another, nor elaborate on who shot Dixon. They did say that all of the suspects in this case are now in custody. |

The Grace Christian School in Valrico told parents in an email that they "have to agree to all policies and procedures" before their child can start school. "We believe that God created mankind in His image: male (man) and female (woman), sexually different but with equal dignity," the email said. "Therefore, one's biological sex must be affirmed and no attempts should be made to physically change, alter, or disagree with one's biological gender — including, but not limited to, elective sex reassignment, transvestite, transgender, or non-binary gender fluid acts of conduct (Genesis 1:26-28). Students in school will be referred to by the gender on their birth certificate and be referenced in name in the same fashion." It continued: "We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, transgender identity/lifestyle, self-identification, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful in the sight of God and the church (Genesis 2:24; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; I Corinthians 5:1; I Corinthians 6:9; I Thessalonians 4:2-7)." An 18-year-old Houston man accused of murder reportedly ditched his ankle monitor and remains at large, police said.
Anthony Bevel, along (with) Quantavious Duncan, 22, and Jkory Hall, 24, are charged in the murder of 22-year-old Zytarian Franklin.
Houston Police Department patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment at 400 Greens Rd just after 9 p.m. on June 14. Officers found Franklin suffering from gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene. Investigators identified Bevel, Duncan, and Hall as suspects. Hall was arrested on August 1 and is charged with murder, assault of a peace officer and disarming a police officer. Duncan was arrested on August 8 is charged with murder. Andy Kahan with Crime Stoppers told FOX 26 Houston that Bevel was released on a five percent bond earlier this year in a separate charge. He was reportedly ordered to wear an ankle monitor but took it off and destroyed it, Kahan said. Bevel now remains at large, according to police. |

Sheriff’s office spokesman Major Randall Stewart told The State that Robinson is not currently wanted for murder, but he could face more charges Robinson is accused of conspiring with Priscilla Graves to use a weapon and rob McDuffie, the sheriff’s office said. On July 28, Graves was arrested on a conspiracy to commit armed robbery charge, according to the sheriff’s office. After the initial arrest and more evidence was verified, Graves was also charged with murder on Aug. 2, the sheriff’s office said. On July 18, Graves lured McDuffie to the auto repair garage where he worked, the sheriff’s office said. At the maintenance shop in the 1500 block of Airport Road, McDuffie was robbed of a large sum of money and shot several times, according to the sheriff’s office. The 70-year-old Lee County resident died at the scene, and his body wasn’t found until the following morning, when the maintenance shop was about to open for business, the sheriff’s office said. The sheriff’s office described Robinson as a 5-foot-4, 135-pound man with black hair and brown eyes. |

When Larry Antonio “Tony” Harden Sr. got off work at the Macon Marriott City Center where he was working as a hotel cook on Memorial Day night in 2018, he arrived home and was soon feuding with his live-in girlfriend. Her cellphone’s battery had died and Harden hadn’t been able to reach her for a ride back to their house on Hillcrest Avenue.
The pair lived with the girlfriend’s two teenage children and her then-22-year-old son, Sellers “Scooter” Bell. As the couple’s spat wore on into the wee hours of May 29 four years ago, Bell joined their shouting match. Then came six shots. Soon Harden was dead. Bell would later claim he shot Harden to protect his mother, Annie Jones, a school nutritionist. But in court, Jones — breathless, her voice quavering — failed to corroborate her son’s claim. She testified that Harden, her boyfriend, had not harmed her that night and that she was never in fear for her life. At some point before the slaying, Bell — according to his version of events — retrieved a small .380-caliber handgun that he kept hidden behind a refrigerator. Five of the six bullets he fired hit Harden. A few struck Harden’s hand and arm. Another ripped through his thigh. The fatal bullet pierced Harden’s left lung and he died, gasping, suffocating on his own blood on the hardwood floor in his living room. |

Kosoul Chanthakoummane was living with his relatives in McKinney, Texas, in 2006 after being released from a North Carolina prison for aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery. He was 25 years old and had served seven of an 11-year prison sentence after he was convicted of holding two women at gunpoint before stealing a car and was chased by police. The son of Laotian immigrants, Chanthakoumane got a job as a delivery driver after he was released. On July 8, 2006, real estate agent Sarah Anne Walker, 40, was found dead in a mobile home by a couple walking their dog. An autopsy showed she had been beaten, bitten, and stabbed 33 times. The jewelry Walker had been wearing - a necklace and her wedding ring - was also missing and never recovered. Chanthakoummane was arrested two months later when a hypnotized witness claimed, under hypnosis, to see a young Asian man at the mobile home. Police released a sketch of what Chanthakoummane looked like, according to the witness. |

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - In the early morning on August 5, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of someone walking around Oakcrest Road assaulting individuals.
One victim reported the 21-year-old Jabar Zuell forced his way into her home and attempted to choke her.
The victim then said she armed herself and ran towards a neighbor’s house to lure Zuell away from her children. He reportedly then attempted to choke and assault the neighbor. Deputies say Zuell also kicked in the door at a third residence, but no one was home at the time. Zuell was found in the middle of the street and taken to a local hospital and later released. He is currently at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center pending an appearance in circuit court after his bond was denied. Zuell is being charged with assault and battery and burglary. |

A white woman was left bleeding after she was bashed in the head on a Queens bus during a fight with three black passengers who said they “hate white people,” police said Thursday.
The 57-year-old was on a southbound Q53 bus at Jamaica Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard in Woodhaven around 6:50 p.m. Saturday when she got into the fight with three black females, whose ages were not known, cops said. She was then “struck in the head with an unknown object causing a laceration and bleed” as the individuals made anti-white statements, police said. “I hate white people…the way they talk,” one of the attackers said, according to police sources. The three females fled from the bus after the attack and haven’t been caught. The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital for a gash to her head, cops said. Carla Jefferson, 51, "harasses, belittles, swears at, argues with" whoever picks up her incessant calls to the non-emergency lines of the St. Petersburg Police department and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, according to a court document. Jefferson’s calls account for 10% of incoming phone traffic to the St. Petersburg Department this year, according to officials. |

ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis man was charged over the weekend in a double homicide Friday in the city’s Carondelet neighborhood.
Qwanzell Watkins, 23, of the 5500 block of South 37th Street, was charged Saturday with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action. Two men, 19 and 21, were shot and killed about 11:45 a.m. Friday in the 6100 block of Alaska Avenue, police said. In charges, police said the killings were the result of a dispute over missing drugs. Watkins had a rifle when he arrived on the block and shot both men, charges said. Watkins later turned himself in at city police headquarters, acknowledged having an “altercation” with the men and surrendered the rifle to police. Authorities identified one of victims as 19-year-old Marcus Calvin Jr. of the 4400 block of Norfolk Avenue in St. Louis. Charging documents identified the other victim as Ty’rell Bradley. Police had not publicly identified Bradley as of Monday. |

The indictments also charge each with obstruction of justice after authorities said they tampered with evidence. Robinson was also indicted on Schedule 2 drug charges. Ezekiel Harry died from severe blunt force trauma to the head, autopsy results show. Police allege Jones and Robinson had carried the child’s body for hours on Houma streets in a black duffel bag, then dumped the bag in a trash bin on Daspit Street, a block from Houma Police headquarters. An armed man shot and killed by police in Texas last week had been arrested on assault and weapons charges just two days prior, authorities said.
Darrel Glen Hood, 32, was identified by the medical examiner as the man shot and killed by Richland Hills police officers on Friday. Hood was arrested on Wednesday for assault and weapons charges. He bonded out of jail just after midnight Friday morning, FOX 4 News Dallas reports. By that afternoon, he was allegedly shooting a firearm in the street. He raised and pointed what was identified as a semi-automatic rifle at the officers, a news release said. |
Mental health exam ordered for (Black) suspect in NYC homeless stabbing spree
The suspect charged in a series of stabbings that left a homeless man dead and two others wounded in New York City will undergo a mental health exam to see if he’s fit to stand trial, a judge ruled on Tuesday.
The exam was ordered by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Diane Kiesel at the request of defense attorneys following Trevon Murphy’s indictment on charges of murder, attempted murder and assault in connection with two of the attacks, prosecutors said. Murphy, 40, is accused of stabbing three homeless people, one fatally, during a week-long spree last month where he allegedly shoved a knife into the victims’ stomachs as they slept. He allegedly first struck July 5 at about 3 a.m., knifing a 34-year-old man sleeping on a bench in Hudson River Park before fleeing across the West Side Highway, according to a criminal complaint. The victim died soon after in a hospital. |

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri man has been charged with shooting and killing his neighbor following an argument over lawn mowing, bringing to an end years of hostility between the two, officials said.
Samuel Avery, 42, of Kansas City, was charged Monday with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the killing of 41-year-old Warner Trotter, who was shot in his head on his front porch, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office said. Trotter was declared dead at the hospital. According to court documents, Avery called police on Sunday to report that he had shot his neighbor. Officers found Avery on his porch next door and arrested him without incident. Online court records do not list an attorney who can speak for Avery. Police said officers had been called to the men’s homes twice previously because they were arguing over Avery mowing his lawn too early in the day. No one was arrested during those incidents. According to a probable cause statement, Avery told investigators they had been arguing for 10 years. On the day of the shooting, Trotter complained that Avery’s lawn mower was too loud and made a gesture with his hand that he would shoot Avery, according to court documents. Avery said he called the police and was told nothing could be done, then Trotter waved an actual gun around and said nothing would happen to him. Hours later, Trotter and a woman returned to the home with food from a restaurant. The woman told police she was inside the house when she heard Trotter ask Avery something like, “Do you have something to say?” Then she heard several shots. Avery told police that Trotter reached for a gun before Avery started firing his weapon, according to records. |

JENNINGS, Mo. (KMOV) - A 27-year-old woman was arrested after biting two officers following a robbery in Jennings Saturday.
Lakia Fisher, 27, was charged with an assault on a law enforcement officer, stealing, resisting arrest and attempting to escape from custody.
Police were dispatched to a Walgreens in the 9200 block of Halls Ferry Road for a report of stealing just before 10 a.m. when they spotted a woman, later identified as Fisher, fitting the suspect’s description near Sundown Drive, just a few blocks away. Fisher reportedly had an electric trimmer, a sim card and other food items with her. While speaking to her, an officer discovered the 27-year-old had a warrant out of St. Louis County and tried to arrest her. As they were putting handcuffs on her, Fisher allegedly flared her arms and body around and tried to bite the officer. She was eventually handcuffed behind her back and placed into the front seat of a second officer’s squad car. “As the officer was driving near Jennings Station and Ada Wortley Avenue, [Fisher] removed her seatbelt, attempted to open the passenger door, and struck her head on the officer’s vehicle and computer,” Sgt. Tracy Panus from the St. Louis County Police Department said. The 27-year-old was able to pin down the officer’s should and hit their arm. When more officers came to assist, Fisher placed her foot on the passenger door to prevent them from entering. “Once officers had [Fisher] on the ground outside the patrol vehicle, [Fisher] flailed around and banged her head on the ground to prevent officers from handcuffing her,” Panus said. Officials said Fisher allegedly bit another officer on the arm before she was taken into custody. She is being held on a $500,000 bond. |

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A Savannah man is out on bond after police say he assaulted a pregnant woman.
Charles Branham, 63, faces two counts of assault and battery, according to jail records.
A police report states authorities responded to a Circle K on Rivers Avenue just before 4 a.m. Sunday. Police say Branham allegedly assaulted employees after he was asked to leave the store. A victim told officers he punched her in the stomach and said he was going to take her baby. Charleston County EMS workers checked the woman who had been punched, the report states. Branham’s court date is set for Aug. 31. |

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV) - Wednesday, a 46-year-old man from St. Louis County was convicted for sexually assaulting two women in Kinloch dating back to 2020.
After five hours of deliberation, a jury convicted 46-year-old Michael Bryant of three counts of sodomy, kidnapping, two counts of assault and two counts of armed criminal action. Prosecutors said Bryant assaulted two women on April 10 and April 19 two years ago. Bryant’s DNA was found under one of the women’s fingernails. “What he did I begged him not to do,” one victim, who knew Bryant, testified. The other woman said she has been trying to “erase this from my memory for two years.” His sentencing will be at 9 a.m. on Sept. 30. “The women sodomized by this man described him as a ‘monster’ and their experiences at his hands as a ‘nightmare,’” said St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell. “This monster will now remain behind bars. The nightmare is over.” |

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A man was arrested and charged at the scene of a crash that killed two people on a moped in Columbia. CPD said bond was denied for the suspect Friday.
Bond denied for the 37-year-old suspect charged in connection w/last night's fatal collision on Farrow Road involving victims on a moped. Johnathan Gajadhar wasn't supposed to be driving in the first place. — Columbia Police Dept (@ColumbiaPDSC) August 12, 2022 The crash happened on Farrow Road and SC-277 on Thursday night, according to the Columbia Police Department. The crash closed the road in both directions while first responders worked to clear the scene. Johnathan J. Gajadhar, 37, was arrested at the scene by Traffic Safety officers and was charged with two counts of felony DUI with death. Gajadhar was taken to jail where he awaits a bond hearing. Investigators said Gajadhar was driving on a suspended license. He has a previous DUI and Driving Under suspension (DUS) convictions. |

CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) - A family court judge ruled Friday the teen charged in connection to a 2021 incident near Coastal Carolina University should be tried as an adult.
Mije Basnight was 16 at the time he was charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, carjacking, first-degree criminal sexual conduct and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, said Lauren Vinson, the assistant solicitor who represented the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office Friday during the hearing. Following a hearing Friday, the Honorable Family Court Judge Jan Bromell-Holmes waived Basnight from family court to general sessions where he will be tried as an adult. “The prosecution of this egregious crime and getting justice for the victim has been a great priority to this office and we are glad that will be able to proceed in the Court of General Sessions where sentencing guidelines are much more appropriate for acts so horrific,” Vinson said following the hearing. |

SALUDA COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - The Saluda County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Killijah Herbert in connection to stabbing a man.
Officials responded to a report of someone being stabbed at a residence on John J Rushton Road.
Deputies say when they arrived on scene, they found a victim with multiple stab wounds to his body. After learning that the suspect fled into the woods behind the house, officials used the blood hound tracking team to locate the suspect. Deputies say they found Killijah Herbert and took him into custody at the Saluda County Detention Center and charged him with attempted murder. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and officials say he is currently in stable condition. |

According to the Columbia Police Department, Davis is then accused of throwing the woman to the ground and attempting to remove her clothing while he also tried to remove his pants, police say. Davis has been charged with third-degree assault, with the intent to commit criminal sexual conduct. Chief Holbrook says this is one of the most egregious public attacks and attempts at criminal sexual conduct he has seen in his career. |

LANCASTER, Texas – The brother of retired NFL cornerback Aqib Talib has been identified by police as a suspect in the shooting death of a coach at a youth football game in Texas.
Yaqub Salik Talib is suspected in the Saturday night shooting that killed a man, police in the Dallas-area city of Lancaster said. Authorities have not yet identified the man, but family and friends say he was a coach. Yaqub Talib was not in custody as of late Sunday and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The Associated Press sent a message seeking updated information Monday on the search for him. Yaqub Talib is the brother of Aqib Talib, a five-time Pro Bowler who announced his retirement in 2020. Chicago weekend violence: 8 murdered, 44 shot, including 5 teenagers shot in a single incident
Between Friday and Sunday in Chicago, eight people were killed out of 44 total victims shot in 35 separate incidents, according to the Chicago Police Department.
One such incident in the early morning hours of Sunday on the 1800 block of West 78th Street in Chicago's South Side left five victims between the ages of 17 and 19 with gunshot wounds, including one 19-year-old woman who was pronounced dead after being shot in the chest and arm. Three males ages 17, 18 and 19, as well as one 17-year-old female victim, are listed in fair condition after the shooting suspect apparently fired from a vehicle, according to a preliminary investigation. A 16-year-old male victim was also fatally shot while walking down the sidewalk on the 13100 block of South Lawrence Street near Dolton, south of Chicago, around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. |

Toddler With ‘Hundreds of Small Scars’ Dies After Caregivers Throw Her Against a Wall
A Florida couple has been charged with murder, child abuse, and child neglect after a 3-year-old girl in their care was brought to the hospital this week “pulseless.”
Doctors revived Brandy Crews on Tuesday but she had no brain activity and died on Friday, WTVT reported.
Hospital personnel found multiple burns, cuts, and fractures along with “hundreds of small scars covering her body” in various stages of healing, the St Petersburg Police Department said. Monica Williams, 33, and Daquan Lindsey, 24, reportedly admitted to police that they beat the girl and threw her against a wall. Williams told police she was the toddler’s sole caregiver, the station said. The couple was charged with murder for the death of Brandy and child abuse and child neglect for injuries officers found on a young boy in their care. Those injuries were not life threatening. The boy and two other children were removed from the home. Court documents said that phone records showed that Brandy may have been unconscious and unresponsive for at least 30 minutes before anyone called for help. According to arrest documents, Lindsey and Williams admitted to seeing each other beat the little girl with a belt, tying her hands and ankles together with shoelaces during the beatings, and throwing her against a wall “causing head trauma and her to become unresponsive.” |

Dekenta Parchman was wanted for the hours-long assault on his ex inside her own home. The 30-year-old man is charged with terrorizing his ex-girlfriend in late July at her Van Buren Township apartment. "This was a very significant assault. Investigators told FOX 2 that he showed up at her apartment drunk and started punching her in the face. Then they said he smashed more than one ashtray over her head and violated her with the hot hair straightener before beating her with an extension cord and blows to her head. ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (FOX 2) - Police are looking for a woman who attacked a Meijer self-checkout cashier in Rochester Hills.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the 55-year-old cashier at the Meijer on Market Place Circle told the suspect she had too many items for self-checkout just before 6 p.m. Aug. 1. The woman, who had two younger females with her, told the cashier one order was her daughter's. After the encounter, the cashier took her break and went to the bathroom. While in the stall, she heard talking and looked out to see the suspect. According to authorities, the suspect kicked in the locked stall door, hitting the cashier in the head, then left the bathroom. When the cashier exited the bathroom, she was confronted by the woman. Authorities said she grabbed the cashier by her hair and threw her on the ground. A tuft of the cashier's hair was found near when she had been on the ground. The 32-year-old landscaper from Warren was taken to the hospital, where he suffered a broken pelvis and other leg injuries. "This is definitely not an accident - I want to make that clear this was not an accident - this was intentional but we don’t know the reason for that intent," said Deputy Chief Aaron Huguley, Southfield police. Hispanic man Elias Bustamente convicted of murdering man, shooting himself in the eye while drunkenly waving gun around 
Earlier this month, 24-year-old Elias Bustamente was convicted of shooting and killing a man before trying to kill himself in 2020.
Prosecutors say Bustamente was drunk on Fourth of July 2020 when he pulled out a gun and began showing it off at a Smyrna party. In the early morning hours of July 5, Michael Arreola told Bustamente to put the gun away because there were kids in the home, including Arreola’s infant daughter. That’s when prosecutors say Bustamente turned the gun on the victim and fired three shots, striking him twice in the chest and once in the leg. Bustamente then turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the eye in an attempt to commit suicide. Arreola died from his injuries, but Bustamente did not. He was subsequently arrested. |
Georgia love triangle leads to killing of 30-year-old woman, police say 
A love triangle between three people in Georgia allegedly led to the murder of a 30-year-old woman, according to police.
The Gwinnett County Police Department said that the incident happened on Thursday when Antonetta Stevens, 27, and Janine Gonzalez, 17, allegedly lured Ashley Bocanegra, 30, to their apartment complex in Buford, Georgia, then attacked her. Police said that Gonzalez’s brother was involved in a romantic relationship with both Stevens and Bocanegra, and they believe the relationship was the motive in the attack. Bocanegra arrived at a local hospital with "severe injuries" from the attack, and died hours later. |

Dearborn Heights police officer injured after man 24-year-old Hassan Hamadi headbutts him during traffic stop 
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (FOX 2) - Four men were arrested after a July Fourth altercation that left two officers seriously injured in Dearborn Heights.
Police say they received a 911 call regarding customer trouble at a business in the area of Ford and Telegraph Roads. The complainant reported four male patrons were threatening employees while making reference to them possessing a firearm. Officers went to the business and conducted a traffic stop after they saw the suspect vehicle leaving. "Due to the allegation that a firearm was involved, officers ordered the four occupants to show their hands. The occupants responded by yelling obscenities and refusing verbal commands. Eventually, all but the driver exited the vehicle and walked around – further jeopardizing their own, as well as the officers’ safety," Dearborn Heights police said in a news release. The driver had to be physically removed from the vehicle after ignoring the officers’ verbal commands, police said. During the process, an officer suffered a head laceration. He was later transported to an area ho spital for treatment. Another occupant, 24-year-old Hassan Hamadi of Dearborn, headbutted an officer, causing a head laceration to the officer which required several stitches. The officer also suffered a concussion. DETROIT (FOX 2) - A 23-year-old man from Westland was arraigned on Friday for the murder of 18-year-old Jacob Hills in Detroit last month.
Avion Sanders was arrested Tuesday and has been charged with first-degree murder, among other charges, in connection to the death of Hills, who was found shot to death in the basement of a Detroit apartment complex's garage.
The court entered a not guilty plea on Sanders' behalf when he appeared in court for his arraignment on Friday. Sanders said little, aside from his name and acknowledging that he understood the charges and when he would appear in court next. The prosecution, citing the seriousness of the murder charge, asked him to be held without bond. Meanwhile, Sanders' defense attorney said there is a question about the credibility of a witness involved in the case and asked for a bond to be set. Ultimately, the judge ordered him held without bond and set his next court hearing for Aug. 26. Hills, 18, was reported missing on July 24 after he went to a party in Detroit. A few hours later, his car was found abandoned in Dearborn Heights. A few hours after that, Hills' father received an anonymous call that said his son was in a basement on Warren in Detroit. According to the Wayne County prosecutor, Hills and Sanders were together on July 24. Hills met with Sanders at a party in Detroit and brought his new AR-15, authorities said. It is believed that when the pair went into the basement of the home, Sanders killed Hills, stole his gun, and abandoned the car in Dearborn Heights. "We try to never rush to judgment on cases because the facts are sometimes not as they initially appear or as reported. After thoroughly reviewing the DPD investigation and the timeline of events, we believe that we can prove this case beyond a reasonable doubt in court," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy. Sanders was arraigned Friday morning and, along with first-degree murder, Sanders was charged with felony murder, larceny (from $200-$1000), felon in possession, and three counts of felony firearm. HOUSTON - A man accused of shooting a convenience store clerk to death in northeast Houston was arrested in Georgia.
Investigators said Jaquel Raheem Carruth, 24, is charged with capital murder for the death of Jhon Dias, 26 back in March 2022. Surveillance video released by the Houston PD, shows a man dressed in all black with a hoodie and face mask entering the convenience store and walking around. Two Florida parents are behind bars today on murder, abuse and neglect charges for allegedly severely abusing their 6-year-old son, who died this week after spending more than a month on life support. Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez alleged during a Wednesday press conference that Larry Rhodes, 22, and his girlfriend, 25-year-old Bianca Blaise, repeatedly beat their young son after catching the boy drinking out of the toilet of their Kissimmee hotel room. Lopez said that Blaise called 911 back on July 5, and allegedly said her son had drowned while drinking the toilet water. When officers arrived, the unconscious boy's head was in the toilet, and he had no pulse. The child was rushed to the nearest hospital, where doctors determined he was suffering from a brain bleed and a lacerated liver, Lopez explained. The sheriff told reporters the couple's other five children also had bruises on their bodies. One of their sons had a hemorrhage in their left eye. An alleged robber who walked out with a bank with $195,000 in cash is now attempting to challenge his criminal charge by saying police used 'unorthodox search methods' in order to catch him.
Okello Chatrie allegedly walked into a bank in Midlothian, Virginia in May holding a cellphone to his ear at the time. It was this seemingly inane gesture that gave investigators the idea of using the location data from his cellphone as a way of tracking him down. When authorities struggled to identify their suspect weeks after the robbery, officers were able to obtain a warrant for Google's location data from all the cellphones that were in the vicinity of the Call Federal Credit Union bank at the time of the robbery. From there they were able to obtain a list of 19 phone numbers until they were able to narrow things down and pinpoint their suspect: 24-year-old Okello Chatrie, from Richmond, Virginia. Chatrie was eventually charged. The request for Google data is known as a geofence warrant and is one way in which law enforcement authorities are able to take advantage of the vast amount of information that the company keeps on its servers according to NBC News. But it's not just those with Google/Android phones that can be tracked. Anyone using Google maps or even Gmail can be pinpointed to a particular place in time as the information is stored on Google's servers. (Black) Dallas salon shooting suspect indicted on hate crime charge for allegedly shooting 3 Korean women
A man accused of shooting three Asian American women at a Dallas hair salon in May was indicted Tuesday on multiple counts, including committing a hate crime and aggravated assault, the Dallas County District Attorney's Office announced.
Jeremy Smith, 37, is charged with seven counts of aggravated assault, each with a hate-crime enhancement and punishable by five years to life in prison. He was arrested by Dallas police on May 16 and remains in the county jail with bail set at $700,000. After Smith entered the Koreatown establishment on May 11, he allegedly fired 13 shots from a .22-caliber rifle, injuring three women -- the salon owner, an employee and a customer -- and endangering four others. The three women, who are all Korean, suffered nonfatal injuries and were transported to a local hospital after the shooting, police said. |

Delcid reportedly shot Solorio five times at close range as he was backing up and slammed into a parked van while trying to get away, surveillance footage shows. Delcid returned to a nearby vehicle and took off with a 17-year-old driver, who has been filed on in juvenile court for his participation in the crime, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced Wednesday. A night of partying at a hangout for biker veterans in northern California turned deadly, authorities say — and one man is accused of torturing and murdering a 70-year-old Vietnam vet before burning his remains.
Sean Bryant, 51, was booked Sunday for allegedly murdering and torturing Stanley Owen Norman. Bryant initially told cops that he and Norman spent the night of April 14 drinking together into the next morning. He said he eventually passed out as the sun was coming up and woke up in the afternoon to find Norman, his Hummer H2 and his poodle KoKo all missing. Cops searched for Norman for a month and eventually found his charred remains on one of Bryant’s properties. Both Norman and Bryant belonged to a local chapter of the American Legion Riders, a motorcycle club for veterans. They and other riders would regularly hang out at a garage at Bryant’s house that he referred to as his office, but others called “the man cave,” according to Day. A California woman has been arrested after her husband caught her on camera allegedly poisoning him with Drano.
CBS Los Angeles and ABC News reported Tuesday that dermatologist Yue Yu was arrested on August 4 following an accusation by her husband, Jack Chen, that she had poisoned him on multiple occasions using the powerful drain cleaner. The couple has been married for 10 years, according to a release from Irvine Police Department. Police said that the victim, who ABC and CBS identify as Chen, reported that he had mounting suspicions that he was being poisoned by his wife after feeling ill for weeks. He then captured video evidence that was turned over to police to support his claim. "Just after 6 p.m., Irvine Police Detectives interviewed the suspect, 45-year-old Yue Yu, and served a search warrant at the home she shares with the victim," the release explained. "Yu was arrested for poisoning her husband and booked at Orange County Jail." |

Man dies 6 months after triple shooting in North City - (Black) charged
NORTH ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - A 24-year-old man is facing charges, accused of killing a teen and wounding two other people.
Eric Wooten is charged with first-degree murder, assault and armed criminal action. The incident happened at the 6200 block of N. Broadway Sunday night just before 10:00 p.m. on Feb.13. Police found 19-year-old Kevin Payne II shot in the street, and EMS pronounced him dead. Florentino Pegues, 34, and a teenage victim were found inside a vehicle also shot. The two were taken to the hospital where the man was in critical condition and the teen was in stable condition. Pegues died from his injuries at a hospice care facility Sunday. Wooten is being held on no bond. |

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - A man is facing charges, accused of beating a woman to death in a Midtown apartment.
Mario Wade, 40, is charged with first-degree and armed criminal action. The incident happened in the 2700 block of Locust Street near Beaumont Street just before 9 a.m. Friday. Police said 59-year-old Michelle Wade was found dead inside the building. Officers say later on Friday, Wade walked into St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department headquarters and admitted he killed someone inside the apartment building on Locust. Police then went to the building and found the victim dead. |

NEW YORK (AP) — Rapper Fetty Wap was jailed Monday after, prosecutors say, he threatened to kill a man during a FaceTime call in 2021, violating the terms of his pretrial release in a pending federal drug conspiracy case.
Wap, whose real name is Willie Maxwell, told the man, “Imma kill you and everybody you with,” and flashed a gun during the Dec. 11 video call about two months after his arrest in the drug case, prosecutors said. U.S. Magistrate Judge Steven Locke, acting on a request from prosecutors, revoked Maxwell’s bond and sent him to jail following a hearing Monday in federal court on Long Island. Messages seeking comment were left with Maxwell’s lawyers. The “Trap Queen” rapper is scheduled to perform in Mobile, Alabama, on Aug. 19 and Austin, Texas, on Aug. 27, according to his website. Mall of America shooting: Minnesota police arrest three; two MUD suspects still at large 
The Bloomington Police Department announced the arrests of three people, including (affirmative actaaion) Best Western employees, who allegedly helped two suspects escape the Mall of America following a shooting there on Thursday.
Denesh Raghubir, 21; Delyanie Kwen-Shawn Arnold, 23; and Selena Raghubir, 23, were charged with aiding an offender to avoid arrest. The two suspects who were allegedly involved in the altercation before the shooting – 21-year-old Shamar Alon Lark and 23-year-old Rashad Jamal May – are still at large. According to court documents obtained by Fox 9 Minneapolis, Lark and May got into a fight at the cash register of the Nike store with another group of people. They left the store briefly, but Lark allegedly returned with a handgun and fired three shots. No one was wounded by the gunfire. The suspects fled the scene and were eventually picked up by a Best Western hotel shuttle at a nearby IKEA driven by Denesh Raghubir, the court filings say. "[Denesh Raghubir] stated that when he dropped the two off at Best Western, [Selena Raghubir] immediately left the front desk and he did not see her for about 45 minutes," the court documents say. Selena Raghubir's boyfriend, Delyanie Kwen-Shawn Arnold, then allegedly transported the two suspects to a residential area in Bloomington. (Black) Ohio man found guilty of posing as funeral director
TOLEDO, Ohio (WCMH) — A Lucas County judge convicted an Ohio man of multiple felony charges for providing funeral services without a license.
Lucas County Common Pleas Court found Shawnte Hardin guilty Friday of 31 charges, including six counts of abuse of a corpse, eight counts of posing as a funeral director and two counts of theft, according to the office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost. He will be sentenced Aug. 26. Hardin operated several unlicensed businesses in Lucas, Cuyahoga, Summit and Franklin counties. They included Hussain Funeral Directors, Celebration of Life Memorial Chapels, Hardin Funeral Home, Inc., American Mortuary Services and Transportation and Shawnte Davon Hardin Services, LLC. In September, 2021, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations removed two bodies from a building he was using for a makeshift funeral home at 1615 E. Livingston Ave. This past January, authorities found more than 80 cremated human remains while searching a vacant church in Akron. Many of the remains have been identified and returned to family members, although some have yet to be claimed, said Yost’s office. |

Aug. 5—TUPELO — Two brothers have admitted their guilt in the 2017 shooting death of a Baldwyn car dealer at his home.
Ojerrin Burress, 23, and Quindaris Burress, 18, were arrested three years apart and were both originally charged with capital murder for the October 2017 killing of Henry Adams. The older brother pleaded guilty to manslaughter and armed robbery on Thursday and will spend the next 30 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. His younger brother pleaded guilty to second degree murder in May and awaits sentencing. Ojerrin Burress was scheduled to go to trial on Monday, Aug. 8, on the capital murder charge. The state was not seeking the death penalty. Late Thursday, he changed his mind and reached out to prosecutors about a possible plea. If the case had gone to trial, his younger brother would have been one of the first witnesses to take the stand. "As you get closer to a court date, the defense can get anxious and start to worry," District Attorney John Weddle said. "His attorneys were in court this week preparing for trial, and we were in court. It turned into a conversation about a possible agreement." Adams' daughter, Lesley Adams Berry, has worked closely with his office as they prepared the cases and got ready to prosecute. "I am happy with the outcome. It's the best outcome with what they had to work with when folks are not willing to talk," Adams said. "There will always be holes. I don't think we will ever know exactly what happened that night. That's something I will have to deal with, and that's tough." She does have the consolation of sitting in the courtroom when both faced the judge and admitted they robbed and killed her father. Ojerrin Burress stood before Senior Circuit Court Judge Paul Funderburk on Aug. 4 and pleaded guilty to the reduced charges of manslaughter and armed robbery. After accepting the plea, Funderburk sentenced the older brother to 20 years to be served day for day on the manslaughter charge. A 10-year sentence for the armed robbery will be served consecutively. Quindaris Burress was just 13 when he was arrested on Nov. 3, 2017. He has celebrated five birthdays inside the Lee County Jail. In May, he pleaded guilty to second degree murder in exchange for giving truthful testimony against his brother. He will be sentenced at a later date. Henry Adams Jr., 70, was robbed of $20, shot multiple times and left to bleed to death in his Baldwyn home on Oct. 22, 2017. He sold cars from his house on a heavily wooded and isolated stretch of South Second Street and was known to keep large amounts of cash. "Either dad opened the door or they bum-rushed him," Berry said in a 2021 interview. "They went looking for money but only got $10-$20. And they shot and killed him anyway." The trial of Quindaris Burress was initially set to begin in November 2018 but was postponed several times. There were issues scheduling a mental evaluation. Then the defense wanted a separate evaluation. The coronavirus pandemic caused further delays. The trial was on the spring docket in Lee County Circuit Court. When Ojerrin Burress was arrested in March, prosecutors began working to get the younger brother to plea and testify against the older brother. Since he was only 13 at the time of the crime, the maximum penalty for Quindaris Burress was life in prison for capital murder. Clovis police arrest (Black) homicide suspect after a woman was shot dead
CLOVIS, N.M. (KFDA) - The Clovis Police Department arrested a homicide suspect today after a woman was shot dead.
CPD said 19-year-old Zyon Williams was arrested on a charge in the death of 17-year-old Shammeal Kirven.
Around 12:38 a.m., officers responded to the area of Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and Cesar Chavez Drive for a call that someone had been shot in the head. When officers arrived, they found a woman, later identified as Kirven, inside an entryway to one of the apartment buildings on the floor with a gunshot wound. She was taken to Plains Regional Medical Center where she died from her wounds. Multiple witnesses identified Williams as the suspected shooter. About 2:30 p.m. today, Williams went to the police department and gave a detailed account of the incident leading to the shooting death or Kirven. He was arrested on a warrant for the charges of abuse of a child resulting in death and tampering with evidence. |

FRIONA, Texas (KFDA) - U.S. officials said a Friona woman was charged with a federal crime after police said she was holding 17 [criminal illegal alien invader "migrants" hostage.
The U.S. Department of Justice said 30-year-old Manuela Magdalena Jimon Castro was charged with a criminal complaint with alien harboring.
Castro made her first appearance today in court. The complaint said Castro and a family member partnered with an illegal immigrant smuggling operation to hold undocumented hostages at their home in Friona. The hostages were threatened to be deprived of food and water. They also were not allowed to leave until they paid $11,000 to $12,000 or “worked off” the debt. The investigation began when California police received a tip from a woman who said her sister was being held for ransom in Texas. The woman said her sister had traveled from Guatemala to Mexico with the intention of seeking asylum in the U.S. The sister crossed the border and was captured by a Mexican cartel, where she was held captive. The sister sent a pin of her location in Friona before escaping. An interview with the police revealed that while in Mexico, she was forced into a car at gunpoint by people she believed to be members of a smuggling cartel, the complaint said. After several months, they walked her across the southern border, took her to different houses in Texas and New Mexico and refused to let her go until she paid off her debt. She then was sent to the Friona home, where she was told she would be detained until she paid $12,000. After the interview, police searched the home and recovered 17 undocumented immigrants, including two children. The criminal complaint said the 17 people tried to hide in the attic, in cupboards or inside totes covered in blankets. The home had very little furniture, except for mattresses and blankets for a large group of people across the floor. Further interviews with the victims revealed that they had entered the country illegally with smugglers. They said the smugglers had confiscated their phones and only allowed intermittent contact with family members in order to get money to pay for their “entrance fees,” the complaint shows. Some of the victims said they believed they had to stay at the home in Friona until their entrance fee was fully paid. |

A 12-year-old girl who had been held captive in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, escaped Monday by chewing through her restraints, leading investigators to two decomposed bodies at the house she escaped. At a press conference Tuesday, Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett said police received a call Monday morning from a driver who encountered the girl wandering alone down County Road 34, south of the town of Dadeville. Deputies responded and transported the girl to receive medical assistance, then searched the home, finding what Abbett described as a “horrendous” scene. Officials told local NBC affiliate WSFA one of the victims appeared to have been smothered to death; the other beaten. A forensics team is working to confirm those details, including their identities. The 12-year-old had been tied to bed posts for nearly a week, according to court filings, and had allegedly been drugged with alcohol and assaulted in the “head area.” She managed to escape by chewing herself free. Testimony has begun in the trial of a Texas taxicab driver, charged with murdering his two teenage daughters in 2008.
Yaser Abdel Said had spent a dozen years on the run before his capture by the FBI in Justin, Texas, nearly two years ago.
Said, 65, had spent six years on the bureau's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives List prior to his arrest in 2020. Said stands accused of killing his teenage daughters, Amina and Sarah, back in 2008. According to investigators, Said allegedly took 18-year-old Amina and 17-year-old Sarah for a drive in his taxi on New Year's Day "under the guise of taking them to get something to eat." Instead, he allegedly drove them to Irving, Texas, where he shot them inside the vehicle outside a hotel. Despite being shot 9 times, Sarah managed to call 911 for help. "Help, my dad shot me!," she said to the 911 dispatcher. "I'm dying, I'm dying!" But her injuries were too severe, and she and her sister, who was shot twice, died. The girls were students at Lewisville High School. Said allegedly killed his daughters because he did not like that they were dating. An arrest warrant was issued for Said a day later. He is charged with two counts of capital murder as well as unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Said has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he will receive an automatic life sentence. |
A "Hispanic or Asian" male douses "SPANISH SPEAKING" victims with gasoline, searches for lighter in 'bias-motivated' attack
COLORADO: The Aurora Police Department is searching for a man who allegedly told two customers at a gas station that "they don't belong here" before spraying them with gasoline and looking for a lighter to set them on fire.
The attack happened at a gas station in western Aurora around 11 p.m. on July 23, police said. The suspect confronted the customers as they were speaking Spanish. After spraying them with gas, he also allegedly threw a rock through their window and stole their keys Aurora detectives are investigating the incident as a "bias-motivated crime." The suspect is described as Hispanic or Asian male in his early 20s. |

Three sisters who vanished in Texas on Friday were found dead in a pond by their home on Saturday, according to reports.
Temari Oliver, 5, Amiyah Hughes, 8, and Zi’Ariel Oliver, 9, were found in a private pond located about 200 yards from their home in Atlanta. The Texarkana Gazette reported that the pond is located on a neighboring property. According to the Daily Mail, a family friend was watching the girls and their other siblings as their mother worked. The babysitter called 911 to report their disappearances, sparking a multi-agency search that resulted in agencies finding a pair of shoes at the pond. Eventually, the three girls’ bodies were recovered from the water. “We have no idea what the girls were doing there,” Sheriff Larry Rowe commented. Autopsies are pending. BLACK-ON-WHITE: WHITE Elwood police officer killed by BLACK KILLER in line of duty
Elwood police Officer Noah Shahnavaz was shot and killed Sunday morning. According to the Herald Bulletin, Shahnavaz, 24, was a five-year military veteran who had been with the Elwood Police Department for 11 months. He is survived by his parents and siblings. Just after 2 a.m. Sunday, Officer Shahnavaz conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Buick LaCrosse near the intersection of State Road 37 and County Road 1100 North in Madison County. Boards exited the Buick and fired multiple rounds, striking the officer at least one time. Boards then fled the scene in the vehicle. According to the Indiana State Police, officers from Elwood PD and the Madison County Sheriff’s Department found the wounded officer and gave life-saving aid until medical personnel arrived. The officer was taken by ambulance to Ascension St. Vincent Mercy in Elwood, and later flown by helicopter to an Indianapolis area hospital and was then pronounced dead, police say. Just after 2:30 a.m. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department found the Buick and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver of the Buick did not stop and continued southbound on SR 37, according to ISP. Officers continued to pursue the Buick and put a tire deflation device near the area of SR 37 and 146th Street. The Buick continued southbound on SR 37 toward Interstate 69. (Black-on-White) |

CLEVELAND (WJW) – The trial for a woman accused of killing an off-duty Cleveland police officer on New Year’s Eve is now on its fourth day.
Surveillance video that shows the violent carjacking that took the life of Officer Shane Bartek has now been seen by the jury, and so has the accused killer’s confession. The last moments of Bartek’s life were captured by surveillance cameras outside his apartment on Rocky River Drive on December 31st, 2021. The off-duty officer was walking to his car, headed to a Cavs game, when a suspect ran up from behind and confronted Bartek at gunpoint, demanding the keys to his car. There was a tense exchange, and at one point, when the suspect gets close to Bartek, it appears the two struggle for the gun. Bartek was shot in the chest and was later pronounced dead. The suspect fled in the officer’s car. Cleveland Police Gang Unit Detective Conor Odea testified on Wednesday that police then began tracking the movements of 18-year-old Tamara McLoyd by following videos she posted on Instagram. SUMMIT COUNT, Ohio (WOIO) - The 29-year-old man who allegedly tried to kidnap a 16-year-old girl from a Metro RTA bus stop in April was indicted by the Summit County Grand Jury.
DaAron Jackson was indicted on the charge or abduction and is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 3. Akron police said Jackson was caught on surveillance grabbing the girl in the area of S. Arlington Street and Neville Avenue around 7:45 a.m. on April 29. The teenager, who was on her way to school, held onto a chain linked fence and prevented Jackson from dragging her to his nearby car, police said. |

As Friday mornings sentencing proceedings began for Kayvon Ward MURDERED of the fallen Corporal Officer Brent Scrimshire.
After four days of trial and three hours of deliberation, Ward was found guilty on all charges Thursday evening.

Police are looking for a man who allegedly smashed a woman in the face on the Upper East Side earlier this month.
The victim, 27, was walking along Park Avenue when the stranger struck her in the face and fled during the seemingly random attack, which unfolded just after 6 a.m. on July 14, police said. The woman was taken to the hospital for a cut on her forehead. Police released a surveillance image of the attacker, described as 5-foot-9 with a large build and last seen wearing orange shorts, a dark colored T-shirt, white socks and Crocs. |

WESTLAKE, Ohio (WOIO) - Westlake police said the accused purse snatcher who targeted a victim in the Crocker Park garage appeared Friday morning in Rocky River Municipal Court.
Court staff said Morris Jenfred King was arraigned on an aggravated robbery charge, and his case was bound over.
Officers went to Crocker Park around 10:30 p.m. on July 28 for a report of a purse snatching. The victim reported that a man ran by her in one of the garages and grabbed her wristlet purse before running away, according to investigators. Officers searched the area for the suspect, later identified as King, who ran north on Detroit Road and Westbay Plaza. Westlake police said officers in the area found King within 20 minutes of the crime. He was found hiding under an SUV at a business on Crossings Parkway, according to Westlake police. |

Lawrence Daniels, 20, was seen by police outside of the apartment where the shooting took place, in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood of the city on Tuesday. Daniels, according to his attorney, is expressing "remorse" for the incident and said that the shooting was an "accident." A US court has sentenced a Canadian citizen who produced and narrated propaganda videos for the Islamic State group (IS) to life in prison.
Saudi-born Mohammed Khalifa was found guilty of conspiring to provide material support to the group. The US Department of Justice said Khalifa, 39, had been a "formidable figure" within IS and personally killed two captive Syrian soldiers. IS was defeated by Iraqi forces and a US-led coalition in 2017. But the group still maintains a presence in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, as well as the Horn of Africa and West Africa. (CNN)Just days after 22 states filed a lawsuit fighting the new US Department of Agriculture policy seeking to protect against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, Florida's top education official is advising schools in his state to ignore the guidance.
In a letter, Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. tells superintendents, school boards, private school owners and charter school governing boards they have "no obligation" to follow the new Title IX equity rules laid out by the Biden administration. Title IX prohibits sex discrimination at federally funded schools. The new guidance threatens to withhold federal funding for school lunch and other USDA programs if states fail to protect against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. In the letter issued Thursday and sent to CNN, Diaz says policies protecting against LGBTQ discrimination by the US Departments of Education and Agriculture "should not be treated as governing law." He referenced a recent ruling in a lawsuit involving the Department of Education, where a federal judge ruled the Biden Administration must pause its enforcement of federal guidance seeking to protect transgender students and workers in 20 Republican-led states. "The Department will not stand idly by as federal agencies attempt to impose a sexual ideology on Florida schools that risk the health, safety, and welfare of Florida students," Diaz writes in the letter. |

Alabama executes (Black) inmate convicted in ex-girlfriend's 1994 shooting death
An Alabama inmate convicted of killing his former girlfriend decades ago was executed Thursday night despite pleas from the victim's family to spare his life.
Joe Nathan James Jr. received a lethal injection at a south Alabama prison after the U.S. Supreme Court denied his request for a stay. James was convicted and sentenced to death in the 1994 shooting death of Faith Hall, 26, in Birmingham. Hall's daughters have said they would rather James serve life in prison, but Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said Wednesday that she planned to let the execution proceed. |

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has identified three suspects who were involved in Friday’s police pursuit and subsequent shootout that happened near the Jacksonville Zoo.
Their names are De’Shaun Lockett, Tyjarius Holton and Robert Motley. Lockett and Holton were pronounced deceased by gunfire, police say. Motley was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance without prescription. According to Motley’s arrest report, officers pursued a maroon Dodge Charger that witnesses said was involved in a shooting at 200 Zoo Parkway. The chase ended after the vehicle crashed at Busch Drive and Zoo Parkway. The report does not disclose when the subsequent shooting happened, but later it states Lockett and Holton were found deceased, and Motley was transported to the hospital for “unknown injuries.” JSO K9 Huk was also injured during the incident after he was shot multiple times. Huk is recovering at a veterinary center in Jacksonville Beach. Motley was later taken to the pre-trial detention facility where he remains on a $75,000 bond. |

Alabama gov: Execution set for BLACK man that murdered his girlfriend in 1994 despite wishes of black victim’s family
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama’s governor said Wednesday that she has decided the state will proceed later this week with a plan to execute a man convicted of killing his former girlfriend decades ago, overriding a plea from the victim’s family to spare the man’s life.
Gov. Kay Ivey told reporters she won’t call off the scheduled lethal injection of Joe Nathan James Jr. at a south Alabama prison on Thursday evening. The inmate was convicted and sentenced to die for the 1994 shooting death of 26-year-old Faith Hall, in Birmingham. Hall’s daughters, who were just 3 and 6 when their mother was killed, had urged along with Hall’s brother that officials change the sentence to life in prison without parole. But Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall urged Ivey to let execution plans proceed and ensure “justice is done.” In making public her decision Wednesday morning, Ivey said, “My staff and I have researched all the records and all the facts and there’s no reason to change the procedure or modify the outcome. The execution will go forward.” Prosecutors said James briefly dated Hall, but that he had become obsessed after she ended their relationship, stalking and harassing her for months before killing her. On Aug. 15, 1994, he forced his way inside an apartment, pulled a gun from his waistband and shot her three times, they said. In the weeks leading up to the scheduled execution date, Hall’s daughters and brother had said they would rather James serve a life sentence in prison rather than be put to death. |

Hispanic Man charged in ABQ shootout that ended in wife's death
Jul. 28—Deputies arrested a man accused of shooting at another vehicle — with his 4-year-old son in the back seat — during a gunfight that left his wife dead earlier this month in Southwest Albuquerque.
Izaiah Bolagh, 21, is charged with shooting at or from a motor vehicle, child abuse and tampering with evidence. Bolagh was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on Wednesday. It is unclear if he has an attorney. The incident marked the second time Bolagh has faced such charges in a similar situation, according to court records. Bolagh is awaiting trial in a 2021 case where he allegedly exchanged gunfire with occupants of another vehicle with his son in the car. The shooting death of his wife, Lesley Bolagh, during the July 17 incident remains an open homicide investigation with no arrests made. BLACK Man charged with killing WHITE Rochester officer pleads - "Dinna do nutin"
During a brief court appearance, Kelvin Vickers pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, attempted murder, assault and weapons counts. He was ordered held without bail.
According to police, the 21-year-old fired multiple rounds into a unmarked, parked vehicle late Thursday, killing 29-year veteran Officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz and wounding Officer Sino Seng. A 15-year-old girl in a nearby house was also shot and wounded.
The two officers were part of a plainclothes unit and were investigating a murder. Vickers was found an hour later in a vacant house nearby, and police said a loaded handgun was found that may have been used in the shooting.
Vickers is from the Boston area and has an extensive criminal background, according to police, who didn’t say why Vickers was in Rochester.
He was represented by a public defender at Saturday’s arraignment but indicated he would be seeking his own attorney, the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle reported.
Seng was hit in the lower body and was treated at a hospital and released. Authorities said Friday that the girl, who was struck by a bullet that penetrated a wall, was recovering.
