(Black) Third BLACK suspect charged in Chicago mass shooting at McDonaldโs near Magnificent Mile two people dead and another seven people wounded. 
A teenager was charged as the third suspect in connection to last monthโs mass shooting outside a Chicago McDonaldโs that left two people dead and another seven people wounded.
The Chicago Police Department said a 17-year-old (nword) boy turned himself in Thursday and was charged with one felony count of unlawful possession of a weapon, the Chicago Sun Times reported. The teen, whose name was not released due to his age, was scheduled to appear in juvenile court Saturday. Jaylun Sanders, 21, and Kameron Abram,20, were previously arrested in connection to the May 19 shooting that erupted outside a McDonaldโs restaurant in the 800 block of North State Street. The location is blocks away from Michigan Avenue, the city's famous shopping district known as the Magnificent Mile. Sanders was charged with first degree murder and attempted murder, while Abram, who was arrested shortly after the barrage of gunfire, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and trespassing on Chicago Transportation Authority (CTA) property. Both men were held without bail. At a press conference last month, Chicago Police Supt. David Brown described how investigators were seeking a third suspect seen on surveillance footage handing a firearm to the alleged gunman. A police street camera captured an altercation break out between two groups before the shooter opened fire into a crowd on Chicago's Near North Side. The Cook County medical examinerโs office identified the two people killed as 30-year-old Antonio Wade and 31-year-old Anthony Allen. 
Among the seven others wounded were a 17-year-old boy taken to Stroger with multiple gunshot wounds, a 19-year-old man taken to Northwestern in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his chest. and a 46-year-old woman shot in the leg and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was stabilized. Four men later showed up at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds. 
"And I walked up and my baby was there shot," she told WLS. "So I took my shirt off and I was naked, and I was holding his wound and I was looking at the other two men." |
Grand jury indicts BLACK great-grandson of (mixed-race) former Mayor Frank Jackson for aggravated murder
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cuyahoga County Grand Jury indicted the 19-year-old great-grandson of
former Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson on the charges of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault and having weapons under disability.
Cleveland police said Donald Jackson-Gates shot and killed ChrisโShon Jaquez Coleman on May 14 on the cityโs East side. According to Cuyahoga County prosecutors, the 20-year-old victim was hanging out near East 40th Street and Quincy Avenue when Jackson-Gates approached and shot him several times. Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene by Cleveland EMS. Jackson-Gates was taken into custody June 7. His arraignment in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas is scheduled for June 17. (Black) Woman lured by ex-boyfriend to 'fight' with his current girlfriend, then shot and killed, police say
SOUTH FULTON, Ga. โ A woman was murdered, police in South Fulton say, after her ex-boyfriend lured her into a "fight" with his current girlfriend that effectively turned out to be an ambush.
Police identified the victim as De'ja McCrary and said her 4-year-old son was in the car at the time of her killing. South Fulton's police chief, Keith Meadows, told 11Alive's Dawn White this week that it happened at the troubled Camelot Condominiums apartment complex. Police said her ex-boyfriend, Colvin Lindsey, set McCrary up for a "fight" with his current girlfriend, Teandra Brox. The additional suspect in the case, Aquala Barnes, told police she texted with McCrary about where to meet up. When McCrary arrived at the apartment complex, she was shot and killed. The 4-year-old was okay with minor scratches, police said. Lindsey, Brox, and Barnes (center, right and left in the photo above) all now face murder and aggravated assault charges. |
(Black) Stafford murder suspect arrested after surrendering over FaceTime
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) โ A Stafford County man was arrested in Hanover County and charged with second degree murder after a shooting at a motel and subsequent negotiation with police over FaceTime.
According to the Stafford County Sheriffโs Department, officers responded to a shooting at a Red Roof Inn at 386 Warrenton Road at around 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 19. When they arrived, they found a man who had suffered a gunshot wound to his chest. The man was taken to a local hospital where he later died. The suspect, still armed, had left the scene in a silver Toyota Tacoma. After identifying the suspect, officers contacted him on FaceTime and he answered. A member of the Crisis Negotiation Team joined the conversation and tried to arrange a peaceful surrender, but the man, who said he โwould not be taken alive,โ refused. Later, at around 11:30 a.m., the suspect, still on FaceTime with police, stopped on Interstate 95 in Hanover County and agreed to surrender to authorities. Hanover County Sheriffโs Deputies and Virginia State Police responded and arrested him without incident. A gun was taken from his truck as evidence. The suspect, identified as 44-year-old George Pearson III of Stafford, was charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm while committing a felony and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. Pearson was taken back to Stafford and is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without Bond. |

AUSTIN (KXAN) โ A man accused of sexually assaulting two women in a downtown Austin hotel room was arrested Wednesday, the Austin Police Department said.
APD responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday after a report that a man entered a hotel room and sexually assaulted the women while they were sleeping, the release said. An arrest affidavit said the two women were in Austin for a conference. The man initially left the area, but was caught a short time later, police said. Devonta Darden, 28, is currently in the Travis County Jail charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony โ a first-degree felony. The affidavit said Darden was released from jail approximately two weeks ago after being charged with indecent assault in a separate incident. Attorney information for Darden was not available Friday afternoon. This story will be updated as more information becomes available. |

A youth basketball coach in Riverside, California, is facing accusations of sexually assaulting one of his players.
Jamien Nicholas Lovell Jackson, 41, committed sexual assault against of the female players he was coaching for a travel basketball league last year, according to the Riverside Police Department. Police arrested Jackson on Thursday and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. Heโs charged with lewd and lascivious acts on a minor, child annoyance, and sending harmful matter to a minor. Court records indicate he was released from custody Friday on $55,000 bail. Police told FOX 11 that Jackson had been associated with girlsโ youth basketball and sports photography in the Inland Empire area for several years. Itโs unknown whether there were any other victims. |

Authorities are searching for four inmates who escaped from a federal prison in Hopewell, Virginia. Corey Branch, Tavares Graham, Lamonte Willis and Kareem Allen Shaw, were discovered missing from the Federal Correctional Complex satellite camp on Saturday.

HUTTO, Texas (KXAN) โ A Georgetown teen faces charges related to the deaths of three people when the pickup police say he was driving collided with an 18-wheeler in Hutto last month.
Tristan Carrillo, 18, faces three counts of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and one count of intoxication assault with a vehicle. Carrillo bonded out of jail Tuesday, records show. Just before 10 p.m. May 13, dash camera from the 18-wheeler showed it driving west on Chandler Road when a blue GMC pickup could be seen โslowing almost to a complete stop then proceeding into the intersection in front of the 18-wheeler,โ according to an affidavit. The 18-wheeler was traveling at about 65 miles per hour at the time. All three people riding in the bed of the truck died, according to the affidavit and Carrilloโs attorney. Hutto police said they found a case of beer on the rear floorboard of the truck, and one of the passengers told them all of those in the truck had been drinking earlier, the affidavit said. The passenger told police Carrillo โwas possibly drinking the least so he was chosen to drive everyone home.โ According to the affidavit, Carrilloโs blood alcohol content at the time was about .083. The legal limit is .08. Carrillo told police before he was taken to the hospital he โhad no clueโ who was driving, the affidavit said. Later at the hospital after being given pain medication, he told police he didnโt remember. Carrillo was a senior at East View High School and played on the varsity soccer team in the 2021-2022 season, according to the roster on the schoolโs website. He just graduated, according to his attorney, Robert M. McCabe. โThis case is obviously horrible,โ McCabe said, noting Carrilloโs brother died in the crash and that the others who were killed or hurt โare very close Carrillo family friends.โ The lawyer didnโt have any further information to share about the case. (Black) Houston girl, 9, 'executed' by mother's BLACK ex-boyfriend, suspect on the run, police say
A gunman "executed" a 9-year-old Houston girl and injured her mother Monday night and authorities are searching for the suspect as he remains on the run, police said.
The mother was with the child and her two other children, ages 1 and 3, watching television when her ex-boyfriend, identified as Jeremiah Jones, went to their apartment just before 10 p.m., Fox Houston reported. "The family got separated. The suspect here, executed a 9-year-old little girl in the apartment with a handgun," Det. Sgt. Michael Cass said. "He then went after the mother, and she was shot." Jones allegedly shot the mother in the shoulder area. She survived and was taken to a hospital, authorities said. The child was taken to a hospital as well with a gunshot wound to the head and pronounced dead. Jones and the mother do not have children and had not been married, Fox Houston reported. Jones, 22, was allegedly out on bond for gun-related crimes, the news station said. He has been charged with capital murder. |
(Black) Georgia man gets four life sentences plus 110 years for raping, molesting Macon girl
A Macon man who lured a teenage girl to a motel room with promises of a Victoriaโs Secret modeling contract was this week convicted of raping, sexually assaulting and molesting her.
Derrick Dewayne Sallette, 54, a used-car dealer who worked out of his home on Old Lundy Road, had been close to the girlโs family in June 2016, Bibb County prosecutors said, when he began grooming the child. Prosecutors said the girl was under the age of 15 when the assaults began and that the abuse lasted until May 2018. The case came to light when the girl called the police after she made audio recordings of Sallette threatening to reveal nude photographs of her. Assistant Bibb County District Attorney Dawn Baskin, who prosecuted the case, said the assaults often happened at a Riverside Drive motel, where the girl was sometimes photographed in lingerie as part of a fictitious modeling deal, a ploy Sallette used to entice the girl. Baskin said that as a cover story, Sallette made the girl tell her family she was out babysitting. The girl later told the authorities that the assaults took place two or three times a week for more than a year and a half. Sallette also made videos of the girl performing sex acts. The case went to trial this week. Sallette did not testify. Jurors โ who were shown the videos as well as photographs that Sallette took of the girl โ on Wednesday deliberated for less than 30 minutes before convicting Sallette of charges that included rape, child molestation and sexual exploitation. |

A career shoplifter who allegedly smashed a news photographerโs camera moments after he was released on a robbery charge was quickly arrested again โ and set free just as fast.
Laron Mack, a homeless man who has previously told The Post โI steal for a living,โ was back in Manhattan Criminal Court Saturday on a criminal mischief charge for allegedly breaking lensman Steve Hirschโs camera a day earlier outside the same building. Mack is accused of damaging the equipment in an encounter outside the Centre Street building which unfolded just after he was granted supervised release in a robbery case. On Saturday he held his head down, with his nose nearly touching the desk as he tried to keep a Post photographer from snapping his picture. His lawyer also held up a sheet of paper blocking Mackโs face from the camera. โโThou shalt not steal.โโ |
Group blasts Chimp Haven fight deaths; wild chimps also kill
NEW ORLEANS -- An animal rights group has filed a federal complaint against the national sanctuary for federally owned chimpanzees once used for experiments.
A federal citation and Chimp Havenโs own reports about an escape and about deaths caused by fights among chimpanzees show the sanctuaryโs care is poor, according to Stop Animal Exploitation Now. The sanctuary in north Louisiana said it acted immediately after a female was attacked in April by others to which it was being introduced. That animal was euthanized in May. Another female escaped twice on June 2. Chimpanzees also attack and sometimes kill each other in the wild, said Michael L. Wilson, a University of Minnesota evolution anthropologist who studies chimpanzee behavior and biology. โKillings ... have been documented at most long-term study sites across Africaโ and โcan occur suddenly and unpredictably, without obvious provocation,โ he wrote in an email. He participated in a 2008 study that found that attacks by other chimpanzees were the second most common cause of death over 46 years at one wild colony, behind only illness. Of 130 deaths, 17 โ or 20% of the 86 for which scientists knew the cause โ were due to attacks by other chimpanzees. |

BLACK-ON-WHITE: BLACK Upstate man gets plea deal in slaying of pregnant White woman, unborn child
ANDERSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - On Thursday an Upstate man pleaded guilty to his involvement in the 2020 slaying of a pregnant woman, resulting in the death of her unborn baby.
Ronnie Gaddis was one of four suspects who went to rob a home on Byron Circle on Feb. 13, 2020. The solicitorโs office said a man who lived there had posted about a stash of cash and drugs on social media. 
During the robbery, gunfire was exchanged. Gaddis was the suspect who deputies said pulled the trigger, shooting 21-year-old Sabrina Lowery in the abdomen.(womb?)
Lowery was pregnant and her baby, Shawn Alex James, was due soon. She was rushed to the hospital where she and the baby died during surgery. Gaddis was originally charged with murder, but on Thursday he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, death to an unborn fetus during the commission of a violent crime, and attempted armed robbery. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 5 years of probation. Loweryโs husband released the following statement to FOX Carolina after Gaddis was sentenced: โHe took a plea deal and it hurts. They need to fix the system because this is unacceptable. She was a wife, a mother, someone's daughter, only 21, never going to get to see our kids do nothing. While he only gets a little trip for 15 years he will still be young when he gets out she will still be gone. My son was a full blown baby, never got to meet his sisters, his father nor any one of us. Itโs not right he still gets to communicate on a daily with his kids an she was brutally taken from hers.โ -Nate Lowery One of the other robbery suspects died in the shootout at the scene. Russell Calhoun, another suspect in the crime who was wanted for murder, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Illinois in 2020. Marquis Bailey, a suspect charged with accessory before the fact, provided the address of the home to his co-defendants for the robbery. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison. (Black-on-White) |

SPEARVILLE, Kan. (KAKE) - Authorities have have arrested a 31-year-old southwest Kansas nword for capital murder after finding the bodies of his white girlfriend and 4-year-old daughter.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation said in a release Thursday that Michael Peterson was arrested in the deaths of 31-year-old Kayla Vasquez and 4-year-old Aalilyah Vasquez. The Ford County Sheriffโs Office received a call at around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday from a home in the 200 block of Avenue B. Upon arrival, sheriffโs deputies and officers from the Spearville Police Department spoke to a man who reported that his girlfriend and daughter were missing. The KBI said that while they were inside the home, officers noticed evidence that a crime had occurred in the residence. Peterson was detained for questioning. Just before 4 p.m. Wednesday, the sheriff's office requested KBI assistance. KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team responded to the scene to investigate. The KBI said agents and deputies began an extensive search for Kayla and Aalilyah, and they were later assisted by the Edwards County Sheriffโs Office. Authorities found Kayla's body in rural Ford County at around 4:15 a.m. Thursday. Aalilyah's body was found in Kinsley at around 5:40 a.m. (Black-on-White) |

โSenseless actโ: Sheriff IDs BLACK man charged in kidnapping, deadly double shooting
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell has announced the name of a man who is facing charges in connection to the kidnapping of a toddler and a double homicide in Eutawville.
Antonio Smalls, 45, of Moncks Corner, has been served warrants for two counts of murder, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime and one count of kidnapping. โThis has just been a senseless, senseless act involving these victims who did nothing to this subject,โ the sheriff said. โAs I said Thursday, you can expect me to turn loose my entire agency to find anyone who does something as heinous as this.โ Deputies responded to a home on Wesgar Avenue near Eutawville Wednesday, where they found a man and a woman dead. Chief Deputy Coroner Sean Fogle said the victims have been identified as Jean Ann Brown, 66, of Cross; and Raymond Brown, 62, of Eutawville. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Autopsies have been scheduled for Monday. A one-and-a-half-year-old child believed to have been taken from the home was later reconnected with his family after being found safe in an abandoned vehicle in St. George, sheriffโs spokesman Richard Walker said. Investigators followed leads to North Charleston, where they found the vehicle belonging to the victims, Walker said. โThat information, in turn, led to the suspect,โ Walker said. PITTSBURGH (KDKA) โ Two men charged in connection with the shooting death of an 18-month-old boy appeared in court for their preliminary hearing on Friday.
Markez Anger and Londell Falconer's charges were held for court. De'Avry Thomas was killed in a drive-by shooting in downtown Pittsburgh on May 29. Defense attorneys representing Anger and Falconer asked for their charges to be dismissed after pleading not guilty on their behalf, but their charges were held for trial. "Don't think it's going to be forgotten, it'll never be forgotten. This is my baby, literally my only baby," said Deashea Green, the mother of Thomas. Green spoke with KDKA-TV after walking out of the courtroom on Friday. She was relieved charges were not dismissed. "I found him like that, I didn't want to. No mother should have to go through that, no one should. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy," Green said. During the preliminary hearing, Pittsburgh police detectives testified and showed surveillance videos gathered from the day of the shooting. In one of the videos, you can see a black Jeep Compass driving on Fourth Avenue with a man hanging out of the passenger window. He is seen shooting toward a dark gray Jeep Wrangler, the vehicle Thomas was in. In another video, a white Tahoe appears to be a "look-out vehicle" as it followed the Jeep Compass right before the shooting. A detective said in court that when they recovered the Jeep Compass in Troy Hill, they found its license plates in a nearby garbage can, along with other items like a can of Red Bull with Falconer's fingerprint on it. The detective said they also discovered prints on the Jeep Compass, one of which was on the vehicle's roof. It matched Anger's fingerprint. Another detective said surveillance videos from a Sunoco gas station and Allegheny Commons helped them identify the suspects. Police have said Thomas and his mother were not the intended targets. "A joyful baby, just know he sees what's going on, he sees everybody here for him, everybody supporting him, everybody helping because his family is going to be with him every step of the way. And I love him, and he knows that," Green said. Anger and Falconer are charged with criminal homicide and conspiracy. They are facing two additional charges of criminal attempted homicide and aggravated assault. A detective testified that Falconer maintained in an interview that he was just the driver of the vehicle, but he wouldn't identify anyone else. The defense attorney representing Anger said charges should be dismissed because it's not known when Anger's fingerprint got on the vehicle and one or two people are still not identified, as one of three fingerprints from the suspect's vehicle have not been identified. The attorney representing Falconer asked for charges to be dismissed because the video shows Falconer driving by the victim's vehicle, but it doesn't show that he knew the shooting was going to happen or that there was intent to kill. The assistant district attorney told the judge it is not possible that Falconer was unaware because Anger was hanging out of the passenger window and the "look-out vehicle" was seen. As for Anger, they said they have fingerprints on the roof where someone was hanging out of a car. |

Authorities in Tennessee have charged a 32-year-old Memphis man with murder for allegedly killing his girlfriend's son last summer during an argument over a $5 debt.
On Monday, a grand jury in Shelby County returned an indictment against Michael D. Robinson, formally charging him with the first-degree murder of ZaQune Harris, a statement from prosecutors confirms. He also faces charges for possession of a firearm and tampering with evidence, according to the statement. He is being held without bond. Bail and lawyer information for Robinson was unavailable Tuesday. ZaQune's murder happened early on the morning of July 12, 2021, in front of Harris' mother's home. At the time, Robinson was in a relationship the mother. "Witnesses said Robinson and Harris got into an argument over a $5 debt and that when the argument escalated, Robinson went to his car and retrieved a shotgun," reads the statement. "He shot Harris once in the chest, then placed the shotgun back in his car and moved the car a short distance from the scene." Harris was pronounced dead at the scene soon after the arrival of first responders. Robinson, the statement adds, has a prior conviction for aggravated assault. |

A Chicago man was charged in the shootings of a U.S. marshal and his police dog who were wounded while serving an arrest warrant, police said Saturday. Tarrion Johnson, 19, faces charges of attempted murder, attempted robbery with a firearm, aggravated cruelty to animals and injury to a police animal, the Chicago Police Department said. Johnson was scheduled for bond court appearance Saturday, the department said.
It was not immediately clear if he has an attorney who could speak on his behalf. Police said Johnson was arrested Thursday shortly after he allegedly shot an officer with the U.S. Marshals Serviceโs fugitive apprehension team and his federal police dog. Authorities at the time said two gunmen were arrested, but Chicago police did not say anything about the second person in announcing the charges against Johnson on Saturday Police said a Chicago officer returned fire during the shooting but did not strike anyone. After Thursday's shooting, the federal marshal rushed the dog to a veterinary clinic, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said. The marshal then realized he had been shot in his hand and an ambulance was called but the officer declined to be taken to a hospital, Langford told the Chicago Sun-Times. The U.S. Marshals Service said the police dog was in the intensive care unit of an emergency veterinary hospital on Friday, WLS-TV reported. |

A burglary suspect who had been at the Greenwood County jail less than a day escaped Friday afternoon, according to the county. The county put out an โurgent messageโ about 4:30 p.m. saying that Travis Leon Boyd, 29, escaped the Greenwood County Detention Center at 528 Edgefield St.
The county described Boyd as a โ29-year-old black male, light skin, 6 foot 2 inches and (260) pounds)โ with a โshort beard and mustache.โ He headed south from the jail, according to the county. The county said people should not approach Boyd but call 911 if heโs seen. Police charged Boyd with first-degree burglary and third-degree assault Thursday before jailing him Officers jailed him in the detention center Friday about 12 a.m., according to jail records. A county judge had denied Boyd bond on the charges, meaning he would remain jailed unless he could get a bond at a later date from a state judge. |

An Oklahoma City police sergeant was fired after allegations of him engaging in prostitution and assaulting staff at a local massage parlor.
Police officials said Alonzo Fields, 30, was employed with the department for seven years. Chief of Police Wade Gourley found 12 allegations against Fields, and he has been criminally charged by the Oklahoma County district attorneyโs office. The allegations date back to September 2020 when police were called to Studio 132, a massage parlor near SW 59th and South Western Avenue. According to court papers, the owner and an employee said Fields requested through text message a "Nuru massage,โ which police said is a sex act in exchange for the $120 he paid. The women reportedly told Fields the request was illegal and that they called police. Fields allegedly went into the business and flashed an identification card that had "Police Officer" in bright red letters. The women said Fields became aggressive with them and pushed them into a wall and attempted to get money out of the cash register. |

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The man charged with setting a homeless man on fire who was often seen walking around downtown Chicago is being held without bail.
Joseph Kromelis, known as the "Walking Man," will never walk again after prosecutors say Joseph Guardia doused the 75-year-old homeless man with gasoline and set on him on fire while Kromelis was sleeping on a sidewalk. "The victim's body immediately became engulfed in flames," Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Danny Hanichak said. "As the victim got up, he began thrashing around trying to put the fire out. The defendant took off running." Kromelis was on fire for three minutes before a Trump Tower security guard rescued him with a fire extinguisher. The crime was caught on surveillance video. "In 16 years of prosecuting cases I've never seen a video so horrific," Hanichak said. Prosecutors said Guardia didn't know Kromelis. He told police he was angry and looking to set something on fire. "The defendant claimed he didn't know a person was there," Hanichak said. "The defendant did not provide a specific motive other than being an angry person." Prosecutors don't buy it. An unsettled man climbed onto the tracks at the Washington Square Park subway stop โ delaying trains for about an hour as emergency responders convinced him to climb back up, according to cops and witnesses.
The 42-year-old jumped down just after 2:30 p.m. and was walking between the north and southbound A/C lines at the West Fourth StreetโWashington Square station, authorities said. EMS workers and people on the platform yelled to try to coax the man to come back up onto the platform โ with some straphangers even throwing down money to persuade him to climb to safety. ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - A man is facing charges, accused of beheading his pregnant ex-girlfriend at her home in Alton.
Deundrea Holloway, 22, of Litchfield, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of intentional homicide of an unborn child, one count of dismembering a human body, concealment of homicidal death and motor vehicle offenses. Alton Police Chief Marcos Pulido said that at around 12:59 p.m., police responded to the 3400 block of Bolivar Street in regards to a possible homicide. An initial investigation found that an adult was found dead in the home. She was identified Monday as Liese A. Dodd, 22. Police say Lieseโs mother went to check on her daughter and found her dead. Authorities tell News 4 that Holloway beheaded Dodd and put her head in a dumpster. Holloway and Dodd had been "dating" on and off for two years. Doddโs (illegitimate mixed-race baby was due in mid-July. Dodd recently moved to Alton and was originally from the Litchfield area. Holloway was arrested in Gillespie, Illinois, police say. BLACK-ON-WHITE: Trial begins for BLACK man accused of murdering WHITE North County officer in 2019
ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV) โ The trial for the man accused of murdering North County Police Cooperative Officer Michael Langsdorf began Tuesday.
Officer Langsdorf was shot and killed on June 23, 2019 at Clayโs Wellston Food Market in the 6200 block of Page Boulevard. According to police, the 40-year-old officer was called to the store for a report of someone cashing a bad check. After arriving at the scene, Officer Langsdorf was confronted by the suspect, identified as Bonette Kymbrelle Meeks, during which a struggle ensued inside the store near the counter, according to police. Video surveillance inside the store reportedly captured the entire incident as it unfolded. Police said during the struggle, the officer and suspect ended up on the floor. Major Ron Martin said Officer Langsdorf was hit in the head with a gun and then shot once. He was rushed to the hospital and later pronounced dead. When officers arrested Meeks, they said he was still carrying the gun used in the fatal shooting. Meeks came to the St. Louis area from North Carolina. In his hometown of Raleigh, he was convicted seven times of drug-related crimes. As a convicted felon, Meeks was not supposed to be in possession of a firearm. (Black-on-White) |

(Heart of Illinois ABC) - New dashcam video shows an Illinois State Police trooper trying to help the driver of a traffic stop near Chenoa, before being attacked.
The 11-minute video, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, shows state trooper Matthew Niehaus conducting a traffic stop on Randy Turner for speeding, allegedly at 109 miles per hour in a 70 mile-per-hour zone.
In the video, Niehaus tells Turner that he isnโt going to arrest him, but rather write him a ticket and call a tow truck, since Turnerโs license is expired. โIโll even work with you,โ Niehaus says. โI even wrote your speed down a little bit so I wouldnโt have to take you to jail.โ Right after that, Turner suddenly lunges at him, tackles him and tries to get his gun.The one-on-one struggle lasts for just under a minute. Niehaus is hit in the face multiple times and then sprayed with his own pepper spray. After radioing for help, a passerby stops and comes to Niehausโ aid, armed and licensed to carry a concealed weapon, pointing his gun at Turner. Turner then tries to escape in the tow truck called to tow his vehicle, but he is brought down and arrested. The lengthy probable cause statement filed in court says during a recorded interview, Turner attacked the trooper because he didnโt want to go back to jail. Turner acknowledged he was told he wouldnโt go back to jail as part of the traffic stop but said โthings change.โ He also told investigators he was trying to get the trooperโs gun because he wanted โcontrolโ of the situation, and the person with the gun was in โcontrol.โ Turner allegedly acknowledged if he had gotten the gun, he wouldโve shot the trooper, probably in the leg. The probable cause statement says Turner also said he wouldโve done whatever it took to escape. Turner is facing charges of disarming a police officer, aggravated battery, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, attempted possession of a stolen vehicle, criminal damage to state-supported property and driving under the influence of a drug. His bond was previously set at $2 million, meaning he has to post 10% or $200,000 cash to be released. ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - Charges have been filed against a 34-year-old man after a young boy exposed to fentanyl died in St. Louis County.
Prosecutors charged Jerry Moorehead Jr., 34, with endangering the welfare of a child causing the death of a child and endangering the welfare of a child creating substantial risk. On Jan. 20, a Maryland Heights police detective said a 22-month-old toddler ingested fentanyl and he later died. A 6-year-old child was also exposed to the drug. โNo one responsible for the care of small children should be using drugs or leaving drugs lying around where a child might ingest them,โ said St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell. An 18-year-old Florida man with a lengthy criminal record was tackled into a muddy ditch after stealing a street sweeper and leading deputies on a chase early Monday, authorities said. Sterling Orlando Davis-Jones, of Jacksonville, allegedly committed an armed carjacking of a pick-up truck that was being used as a street sweeper in Daytona Beach around 4 a.m. Deputies in Flagler County were notified of the carjacking shortly after and spotted the vehicle, the sheriff's office said. The driver then bailed out of the stolen vehicle and ran away from deputies holding what authorities believed was a firearm. After losing sight of the suspect, the sheriffโs office said K-9 teams and a Volusia County sheriffโs helicopter were called to help in the search. |

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV) โ Charges have been filed in a pair of armed robberies that targeted postal employees in St. Louis County. Roy Jones, 19, and Xavier Boyd, 18, are each charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. Their bond was set at $50,000. According to police, the suspects robbed two postal service employees at gunpoint on June 9. In both robberies, the suspects stole keys used to open mailboxes. The first armed robbery took place in the area of Sunswept Park Drive and Springtime Lane at 12:39 p.m. The second occurred at 12:42 p.m. in the 600 block of Greenway Manor Drive. Following the robberies, the suspects drove off in a black Volkswagen SUV. When officers later spotted the SUV, it drove off and police pursued it to New Halls Ferry Road and Lindbergh Boulevard, where it was involved in a single-car crash. The suspects reportedly attempted to run off following the crash but were arrested after a brief chase. Boyd had a black Glock 9mm pistol in his possession when he was arrested, St. Louis County police reported. Officers said two other guns and the keys that had been stolen from the postal workers were found inside the SUV. An officer suffered a minor injury during the foot pursuit. No one else was injured in the pursuit or crash. A postal worker was also robbed on June 1 in the 1800 block of Chambers Road. The United States Postal Inspection Service was offering a $50,000 reward for information to locate and arrest the suspect in that case. St. Louis County police told News 4 Boyd and Jones are suspects in that case as well. |

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - A former St. Louis corrections officer who admitted to letting two detainees attack a man inside his cell in 2021 was sentenced to four years in prison.
Demeria Thomas, 38, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of deprivation of rights under the color of law under her plea agreement. A disturbing four-minute jailhouse footage shows two male inmates walking up to talk to Thomas, a former corrections officer, at the podium on the fourth floor in the Bravo unit at the St. Louis City Justice Center on March 22. According to police, the controls for all the cell doors were located at the podium. Moments later, Thomas is seen on camera opening the victimโs cell door, allowing the first inmate to go in and assault him. Warning: The video is graphic and may be disturbing to some viewers. |

A Florida man was arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse after he unknowingly supplied police with home surveillance footage that showed him dragging the lifeless body of a 38-year-old woman through his house.
William Redden, 51, allegedly wrapped the corpse of Stephanie Shenefield in a sheet before dragging her lifeless body to his car and driving to a ditch, where he tossed her remains, according to the Manatee County Sheriffโs Office. It was not clear how the woman died. Shenefield, a mother of two, took an Uber to the home of Redden, an alleged drug dealer, at 1:20 a.m. on Friday, June 3, investigators said. At some point in the night, Shenefield died inside the house and Redden allegedly disposed of her body instead of calling for help, Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells said. โWilliam Redden does nothing about it,โ Sheriff Wells said at a press conference aired on WTSP Tampa Bay 10. โHe doesnโt call 911, he doesnโt call authorities, he doesnโt call anyone.โ Redden, an eight-time convicted felon, told detectives that Shenefield stayed at his house that night โ but left the next morning. The detectives then asked Redden if they could take the DVRs from surveillance cameras on the inside and exterior of the house. He complied and said the cameras donโt record inside his house and are only a โlive monitoringโ system, according to the sheriffโs office. โHe tells them they do not record inside the residence. He was wrong,โ Wells said. โThankfully heโs ignorant and didnโt know that. Because it worked for us.โ To investigatorsโ surprise, the video unveiled the final moments of Shenefieldโs life and provided hints as to how her body ended up in a ditch in Palmetto. The detectives verified through the video footage that Shenefield was at Reddenโs home in Palmetto and died there during the night. Investigators have not yet determined the cause of death. Redden then can be seen โdragging her lifeless body throughout the houseโ and loading it into a car before driving off, Wells said. Two people walking their dog found Shenefieldโs โbadly decomposedโ body in a 12-foot-deep drainage ditch near railroad tracks Thursday, June 9, according to the sheriffโs office. The Florida mom was reported missing after Sunday, June 5, when she didnโt show up for work and also had missed a concert Friday evening. โWilliam Redden is a piece of crap, thatโs what he is. He had the opportunity to call law enforcement, to call 911, to try to save her,โ Wells said. โHe could have done a lot of things, but thatโs not his character,โ he added. โThe only thing he thought of was trying to get rid of the evidence that was in his car โ that was a human being; that was someone that was truly loved in this community.โ Redden was charged with abuse of a corpse, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of an altered firearm. Additional charges are expected to be brought as the investigation continues, Wells said. โWe will continue to investigate this, but we want you to know that our hearts break for the family of Stephanie,โ the sheriff said. MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) โ The Alabama Supreme Court has set an execution date of July 28 for a man convicted of killing his one-time girlfriend after breaking into her home in Jefferson County almost three decades ago, according to a court order made public Monday.
Joe Nathan James Jr. would become the second Alabama inmate put to death this year unless a court intervenes. James, 49, was sentenced to die after being convicted of capital murder during a burglary in the killing of his one-time girlfriend, Faith Hall, in Birmingham. James, who had a history of stalking and harassing the woman, showed up at her apartment on Aug. 15, 1994, forced his way inside and accused her of unfaithfulness, court documents show. James pulled a gun out of his waistband and shot the woman, who died of multiple gunshot wounds, and James was later arrested in California. A Jefferson County jury convicted James of capital murder in 1996 and voted to recommend the death penalty, which a judge imposed. The conviction was overturned when the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals ruled that a judge wrongly admitted some police reports into evidence. James was retried and again sentenced to death in 1999, when jurors rejected defense claims that he was under emotional duress at the time of the shooting. Courts have since rejected appeals by James including claims that his lawyers were ineffective, and the state asked the court in March to set an execution date. James has never claimed to be innocent, the state argued, and he's exhausted his appeals. |

The suspect, who was dressed in black, eventually escaped on his scooter โ but not before being forced to leave the solar panel behind. The punched victim suffered a cut to his face and was treated at the scene by Emergency Medical Services. The NYPD released the cell-phone video of the confrontation and photos in hopes of finding the puncher. |

Hispanic Lompoc man accused of setting father on fire, attempted murder
Jun. 13โA Lompoc man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Saturday after setting his father on fire following an altercation inside a North D Street residence, according to police officials.
Lompoc Police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of North D Street after receiving a 911 call regarding a fight between a father and his son inside the residence at approximately 3:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Jorge Magana. Magana said that as officers were responding, a second 911 call came in, with the caller stating the father had sustained beating injuries. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the son, identified as 40-year-old Joe Garcia Jr., who refused to open the door, according to Magana. The officers forced their way in and immediately noticed that a man was on fire, he added. Magana said the fire was extinguished and Garcia was taken into custody. The father sustained third-degree burns and was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, then later to an unspecified burn center, according to Magana. Three men have been arrested in connection to the killing of a teenager outside LeBron James-founded Ohio high school in early June, federal authorities announced Saturday.
Ethan Liming, 17, was found beaten to death on June 2 in the parking lot of I Promise School in Akron. In a press release, the US Marshals Service revealed that the federal entityโs Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and Akron Police on Saturday morning arrested Deshawn Stafford Jr., 20, Tyler Stafford, 19 and Donovon Jones, 21, at two different residential buildings in Akron. Liming was brutally beaten to death at around 10:46 p.m. on June 2. Authorities have said the teen died from blunt force trauma to the head after he drove around with his friends and shot a water gun at people. Liming was lying on the ground in the parking lot when police arrived, officials have said. They were unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. โI am happy to report that today, officers with the Akron Police Department, made several arrests in connection with the death of Ethan Liming. We thank the members of the community for their outpouring of support that helped investigators throughout this investigation,โ said Akron Police Chief Stephen Mylett in the news release. โWhile I believe the news of the arrests will be welcomed by Ethanโs family and loved ones, we all recognize that nothing will bring Ethan back,โ he added. โViolence in this country must stop. We are losing too many lives to senseless acts of violence.โ Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan said that Limingโs โsenseless and tragic death has touched every person in our community.โ โMy thoughts and prayers remain with the entire Liming family at this time,โ he said. โThis crime impacted an entire community and we stand alongside the community in seeking justice for Ethan,โ U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The man suspected of ramming a patrol car and killing a Tallahassee police officer Wednesday has served time in prison for domestic violence and cocaine sales, public records show.
Tyrone Cleveland is accused of shooting three members of his family at a home on Saplin Court early Wednesday morning, then crashing into a Tallahassee Police Department officer Christopher Farielloโs car about an hour later at the intersection of Capital Circle NW and Northwest Passage. Leon County court records show Cleveland was charged with a violent domestic attack in November 2012 and later entered a plea to multiple felonies, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, domestic battery by strangulation, child abuse and more. WCTV has requested copies of those arrest reports. Cleveland was also charged with resisting officers with violence, as members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force tried to arrest him in a motel room a few days later. Those arrest records say Cleveland was tased twice after reaching under the bed and kicking the two officers trying to handcuff him. Officers also described suspected cocaine in plain view in the motel room and razor blades swirling in the bottom of the toilet. Leon County court records show Cleveland was sentenced to four years in state prison, and Florida Department of Corrections records show he was released in August 2016. Leon County court records show Cleveland was also wanted in Georgia on cocaine charges and Florida DOC records show that Georgiaโs Department of Corrections had issued a detainer for him upon his release. A search of GDCโs online records indicates Cleveland has a history of drug arrests โ including the sale of cocaine โ in Grady County. Van Brisbon, 60, is charged with murder in connection with the death of 16-year-old Lauren Juma, a sophomore at Nimitz High School. He was being held on a $1 million bond in the Harris County Jail. However, the judge increased the bond to $2 million after Monday's hearing. More details were revealed over the weekend about what happened on Friday morning when the teen was shot and killed at a home in the 20400 block of Canton Trace near FM 1960 and Lee Road. This all started at 1 a.m. when Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables responded to a weapons disturbance when Laurenโs sister called and said her motherโs boyfriend was holding her 16-year-old sister captive inside their home. "She just wanted to get away, that's all she wanted," Keryca Harmon, the victim's sister, said. "She just said he was being really weird and wanted me to pick her up." When deputies arrived, they said they heard a gunshot and then screaming, investigators said. The deputies then heard a second shot shortly after. COVINGTON, Ga. โ
A man fatally shot his infant daughter before killing himself in Georgia on Sunday morning after kidnapping the baby from her mother, according to police.
Darian Bennett also shot and killed the baby's mother and injured the baby's grandmother by gunfire at their home in Covington on Saturday night, Sergeant Jack Redlinger from the Newton Sheriff's office told CNN. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) identified the infant as Jaquari Bennett. Authorities have not yet identified the baby's mother or grandmother. Covington police received a 911 call shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Saturday about an individual who was shot in the area, Redlinger said, and officers encountered two unidentified juveniles, ages 11 and 12, once they arrived at the location. When the officers entered the home, they found a woman's deceased body and an older woman with multiple gunshot wounds. The older woman was taken to the Atlanta Medical Center by helicopter and is in critical condition, Redlinger said. The two women who were found at the Covington home were later identified as Jaquari's mother and grandmother, according to Redlinger. "Darian Bennett was the one that shot the baby's mother and took the baby with him and left the scene," he added. An Amber Alert was issued by GBI on behalf of the Newton County Sheriff's office for the missing toddler. |

A McDonald's employee in Missouri has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly killing his co-worker on Tuesday night.
19-year-old Terrence King was arrested on Tuesday night after a shooting that took place outside a St. Louis McDonald's at around 8:30 p.m., according to KMOV.
Kevyn Henderson, 23, was shot in the chest and was not breathing or conscious when officers arrived at the scene and later died, according to police. According to the report, King and Henderson both worked at the McDonald's and got into an argument while inside the fast-food restaurant. The manager of the McDonald's escorted King out of the restaurant. When Henderson walked out of the McDonald's, according to police, King shot and killed him. Police officers took King into custody after locating him with a firearm in his hand near Henderson. |

Police have arrested and charged a Roanoke man in connection with a Friday homicide at an intersection of Williamson Road in northwest Roanoke.
Keandra S. Smith, 29, of Roanoke, was charged with second-degree murder later in the day in the death of 40-year-old Grover W. Edwards III, of Roanoke. Authorities were notified at 11:30 a.m. Friday of a person with a gunshot wound and found Edwards there. He was pronounced dead on the scene by Roanoke Fire-EMS responders, according to a police news release. Williamson was blocked to traffic at Angell Avenue Northwest and Trinkle Avenue Northwest. Fleming Avenue Northwest was blocked at Winsloe Drive Northwest. The scene was near James Breckinridge Middle School, which was secured after the initial call came in. Police said a suspect in the incident was found nearby and detained by officers. The incident remains an ongoing investigation, according to police. ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) โ An 18-year-old has been arrested after two 17-year-olds were shot and one was killed in Elizabeth City.
It happened on Herrington Road near the intersection of Edge Street just after 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
The first victim was sent to the Sentara Albemarle Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The second juvenile was treated for non life-threatening injuries and later released. On Friday, police arrested 18-year-old SIncer Unique McCauley on charges of discharging a weapon into an occupied property and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Officials say McCauley was taken into custody without incident and is currently at the Albemarle District Jail with no bond. His first court appearance is set for June 13 in Pasquotank County. Elizabeth City police say they also served a secure custody order for murder, discharging a weapon into occupied property, and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury on a juvenile that was also involved in the shooting. |

A New York City man is wanted in connection with two unprovoked stabbings on the subway that occurred within a 24-hour period, authorities said Saturday.
Donny Ubiera, 32, of Queens, allegedly brandished a large knife and slashed a 62-year-old man on his face and right hand onboard a southbound 7 train around 8:40 a.m. on Friday, police said. Police said Ubiera had approached the victim and was not provoked. After the slashing, police said he got off the train at the Queensboro Plaza station and fled on foot toward Queens Plaza North. The second unprovoked attack happened around 7:15 a.m. Saturday on the platform of the northbound 7 train line, according to police. Ubiera allegedly pulled out a large knife, approached a 55-year-old man and stabbed him in the neck. Ubiera again fled the scene in an unknown direction. Authorities recovered a knife at the scene. Both victims were hospitalized at NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst in stable condition. Few details were available on their conditions, but police said the first victim received numerous stitches. |
Police search for BLACK man after alleged deliberate fire at Toronto house
Police are searching for a man identified in an arson investigation in Toronto.
In a press release, Toronto police said they needed the publicโs assistance locating someone after a fire was โdeliberatelyโ started at a home in the area of Sentinel Road and Assiniboine Road.
On June 7, police responded to a fire that officers said was deliberately started by someone who then fled the scene. Hispanic Man cat-called woman then stabbed her, man she was with 
GREELEY, Colo. โ Authorities are searching for a suspect accused of stabbing a man and a woman after cat-calling the woman Wednesday, the Greeley Police Department announced.
Around 10:36 p.m., officers were called out for a reported stabbing at Lincoln Park, located at 9th Avenue and 10th Street in downtown Greeley. According to Greeley police, Luis Mendez-Mayorga, 27, was cat-calling a 20-year-old woman when the 29-year-old man she was with attempted to intervene and stop the harassment. Mendez-Mayorga then stabbed the two victims, police said. Both sustained minor injuries and were treated on scene then released. Mendez-Mayorga took off before police arrived. Officers searched Lincoln Park and the downtown areas, but could not find him, police said. An arrest warrant was issued for Mendez-Mayorga for two counts of second degree assault and two counts of felony menacing. Anyone with information about Mendez-Mayorga's location is asked to call 911 immediately. Police say he was last seen in the area of downtown Greeley and should be considered armed and dangerous. (CNN)A recently retired truck driver who traveled across the country for decades has been charged in a California woman's death, just weeks after he was arrested in Texas for another woman's killing, prosecutors said.
Douglas Thomas, 67, was charged Friday in the death of Sherri Herrera, a 30-year-old mother of four who was found on a highway on-ramp in March 1993, the Riverside County, California, district attorney's office said in a news release. Herrera was last seen alive a few days before her body was found, the release said. The office also filed a special circumstance allegation of murder during the commission of a rape, according to the news release. It is unclear if Thomas has legal representation. Throughout more than 40 years working as a truck driver, Thomas traveled extensively, the release added. Just weeks before the district attorney's announcement, authorities in Texas arrested Thomas on the suspicion of murder for the April 1992 killing of a woman found in Titus County. "Thomas was connected by authorities to that murder by a DNA match to evidence from that crime scene," the district attorney's office said. Thomas was taken into custody in Texas in late May under a $2 million bond on a murder warrant for the April 1992 killing, according to CNN affiliate KWTX, which cited a search warrant affidavit filed by a Texas Ranger. The woman's body was found near a rest area along a highway and an investigation showed she was strangled "with a device made of wire and cord," according to the affiliate. There was also evidence of sexual assault, the affiliate reported. Investigators from the two different states were able to make the connection with the help of forensic genealogy: An investigator with the district attorney's office in California uploaded DNA profile from the scene of Herrera's killing in 2002 and roughly five years later, there was a match connecting the killings in the two states, KWTX reported. After forensic genealogy investigations from both cases, the Riverside investigator contacted the Texas Ranger on the case, informing him of several people in Texas who were "in the right genetic range for comparison," the station said. Authorities took a DNA sample from Thomas in late April and the results matched the suspect profile, according to KWTX. While he was in custody in Texas, investigators from California traveled to Texas and interviewed Thomas about Herrera's killing, the news release said. Thomas remains in custody in Texas, where he will be prosecuted for the 1992 murder, the release said. NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB) - A Campti man has been arrested in connection with the May 26 shooting death of Darnell Jermaine Browder, 39, of Campti, Louisiana.
The Natchitoches Parish Sheriffโs Office said Darrion Lamar Simmons, 20, was arrested on June 3 at his residence on Pasture Road. Simmons was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center and charged with second degree murder and felony theft over $150,000. He remains in jail with a bond set at over $1 million. Sheriff Wright said the arrest stems from an active, ongoing investigation involving the collection of evidence, execution of search warrants, recovery of four stolen all terrain vehicles, autopsy findings and interviews of several sources. NPSO said no further information will be released at this time but additional arrests are possible. The investigation began on Thursday, May 26, when the body of Darnell Jermaine Browder was found laying at the end of Roberson Street near the St. Paul Methodist Church in Campti. The Natchitoches Parish Asst. Coroner Steven Clanton said Browder died hours earlier as a result of gunshot wounds. The death was ruled as a homicide. |

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - A man wanted for attempted second-degree murder in Alexandria was captured Thursday, June 9 in Mansura, according to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriffโs Office.
APSO said a Mansura police officer spotted Jimie R. Jonesโ vehicle at a home on Drouin Street. An hour after authorities arrived at the home, APSO said Jones voluntarily surrendered. He reportedly had three-day-old trauma to one of his feet and was transported to Rapides Hospital. The Alexandria Police Department was notified, and Jones was subsequently transported back to Rapides Parish to face his charges of attempted second-degree murder and contempt of court. APD said Jones is suspected of shooting a gun from his vehicle around 3:15 a.m. on Monday, June 6 in the area of North Mall Drive, allegedly targeting his ex-girlfriend. |
Trial of BLACK 2019 Cottonport club shooting suspect underway
MARKSVILLE, La. (KALB) - The trial of Derrionte Boyer officially began on June 1, 2022, at the Avoyelles Parish Courthouse.
Boyer faces numerous charges for a November 2019 shooting outside of the New Beginnings Club near Cottonport, which resulted in the deaths of Justin Heath and Monte Jones, as well as the injuries of two others. He faces four counts, including one count of second-degree murder, one count of principal to second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder. Both counsels laid the groundwork for the case with their opening statements. Assistant District Attorney Tony Salario listed off numerous witnesses to be called up to testify Boyer was the shooter involved in the incident at the club. Meanwhile, Defense Attorney Tiffany Sanders countered in her statement that Boyer, a 16-year-old Peabody High School freshman at the time, was not even at the club the night of the shooting, and there was no evidence linking him to the incident. Salario set the scene by describing the circumstances of the night. While at the club for a party, Jones was attacked by a group of people, so badly injuring him that what would occur moments later would result in his death. When Jones and Heath were leaving the club with two others, the same group was waiting outside, one of them firing at least 10 shots in Jonesโ and Heathโs direction. The prosecution claimed that person was Boyer, citing witnesses who identified the shooter as D.T., Boyerโs nickname. |

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Alexandria Police Department has arrested a man wanted in connection with the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend as well as another man on Monroe Street on Sunday, May 29.
APD said on June 2 their detectives and S.W.A.T. team arrested Willie Carradine, 59, on Olive Street. He has been charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder. APD said Carradine reportedly shot his ex-girlfriend and her reported new boyfriend, both in their 50s, on Monroe Street. The woman sustained a life-threatening injury, and the man was treated for a less serious injury. |

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Police officers have arrested a 31-year-old man who is accused of throwing a baby at his girlfriend after allegedly finding her talking on the phone.
The North Charleston Police Department charged Vincent Samuel Reid of North Charleston with first-degree domestic violence and unlawful conduct towards a child. The investigation began at 12:21 a.m. on Wednesday when police officers responded to an apartment on Alston Avenue for a possible child abduction. The victim said the incident began as she was sitting at home with her children and her boyfriend entered the home intoxicated, and when he saw her talking on he phone to someone he snatched the phone from her. A report states the suspect began calling the person the victim was talking to and threatening to go and shoot their home. The victim said she then grabbed her phone and called 911, and at that time a verbal argument started between the victim and the suspect. Police say the suspect then hit the victim in the face, took her phone, grabbed the baby, and walked out of the home. The victim said when she called 911, the suspect entered the home, took the phone and threw it. The incident report states that the suspect then threw the baby at the victim, grabbed the victim by the neck in an attempt to choke her and then bit her right shoulder. Authorities say the victim was able to bite the suspectโs hand and call out to her daughter who was in another room to have her call 911. |

UNION, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - A Union woman is facing charges after police say she put a gun to the head of a teenager who said he wanted to be with his mother who died.
According to the incident report from Union Public Safety, Larissa Means was caring for a teen whose mother died several years ago. The report says the teen made a comment about wanting to be with his mother and in response, Means pulled a handgun out from underneath a pillow and pointed it at the back of the boyโs head. She also put the gun in the teenโs mouth, according to arrest warrants. Means is charged with a second count of unlawful conduct toward a child because according to warrants, she left the victim at the Union Public Safety Department in June 2021 to try to abandon him. |

Authorities arrest 'armed and dangerous' HISPANIC Stockton man accused of shooting and killing his wife| Update 
STOCKTON, Calif. โ Update June 10:
A search for a man accused of shooting and killing his wife in Stockton has ended after the suspected gunman was found and arrested in Nebraska on Thursday, officials with the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office said. Sergio Torres Munguia, 52, allegedly shot and killed his wife, Sonia Suarez in the 3600 block of Munford Avenue in Stockton on June 4. Since the homicide, detectives with the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office have been searching for Torres, described as "armed and dangerous." Thursday night, Torres allegedly ran a stop sign in the city of Sidney, Nebraska. Deputies with the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office say that when officials with the Sidney Police Department checked Torres' record, they found the arrest warrant. Maryland - HISPANIC SURNAMED SUSPECT SHOOTS THREE DEAD AT Manufacturing plant 
Three people were killed and one person was injured Thursday at a Maryland manufacturing plant by a co-worker who was also injured following a gunfire exchange with a state trooper, authorities said. Joe Louis Esquivel,23, of Hedgesville, West Virginia, went to work at the Columbia Machine factory in Smithsburg and worked his normal shift, authorities said Friday. At around 2:30 p.m., he left the building and retrieved a weapon from his car and went back in the plant and opened fire inside a break room, officials said. The deceased victims were identified Thursday night as Mark Alan Frey, 50; Charles Edward Minnick Jr., 31; and 30-year-old Joshua Robert Wallace. The victim who was injured was identified as 42-year-old Brandon Chase Michael, authorities said. After the shooting, Esquivel fled the scene in a Mitsubishi Eclipse before he encountered state troopers. A shootout ensued, injuring him and a trooper, authorities said. MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK/Gray News) - A suspect has been identified in the shooting death of a Meridian police officer.
Dante Marquez Bender, 31, is wanted by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, which is handling the case. WTOK reports about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, a call went out over police radios of an โofficer downโ on the 2400 block of 51st Avenue. The city of Meridian later issued a statement saying the police officer died. A female was also found dead at the scene. Bender is believed to be driving a 2004 black Nissan Armada with a tag reading โIMANI.โ Bender may be armed and dangerous. If you see him or come in contact with him, call 911 immediately. SELMA, AL (AP/KVRR) โ A man wanted in a gunshot murder last year in Alabama has been arrested in Minnesota.
Police in Selma, Alabama say 18-year-old Javontae Mitchell was captured last week near the Canadian border by federal marshals. Authorities did not give an exact location of his arrest. Mitchell was sought in the killing of 26-year-old Taquon Fikes who was found lying unresponsive in the backyard of a house a year ago. Police say he was killed in a fight. Mitchell will be sent back to authorities in Selma. |

A 27-year-old Xenia man will spend the next two decades in prison for a 2016 homicide and robbery in Fairborn.
Devon Cox was sentenced Wednesday in Greene County Common Pleas Court to 20 years in prison following his guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter with a firearm specification and aggravated robbery.
The guilty pleas and sentencing were announced Wednesday by Greene County Prosecutor David Hayes.
Coxโs charges stem from the Nov. 20, 2016, shooting death of 23-year-old Jarrell Plummer in a Fairborn apartment.

โI was a child,โ she told the 63-year-old Butler in an impact statement after the jury found him guilty of lewd and lascivious battery. โI was vulnerable, and you took advantage of me.โ
She was passed around from one man to another by a man who collected money from her attackers, was left hungry and given drugs to keep her in a daze for two days. The Daily Commercial is not naming the woman because she is a victim. After leaving the Arnette House in Ocala, the girl made her way to Eustis on Feb. 14, 2018, where she stopped at a store on East Orange Avenue. She said a woman and two men approached her. The arrest affidavit said she began telling the trio about her โrecent adventuresโ after leaving Ocala, โbecame comfortable with the three and began walking around with them.โ They ended up at a home known as โPoppieโs House.โ People said he lived there with his girlfriend and two children. There was a shed behind the house that had been converted into an apartment, and that is where the woman lived with a man named Steven. Soon, the group, along with โPoppie,โ began taking the drug MDMA, known as โMolly.โ She said she lost her virginity to Poppie, then was raped by a man nicknamed โRed.โ That man was Butler. When they were finished, the men walked over to Steven and handed him money. That night, she said, she was raped by a man named โMoses.โ The next day, she took more Molly and was taken to the home of a man named Jermainne. Steven told him he could have her for two hours. She said Jermainne gave her a drug known as โconcrete,โ which is heroin cut with fentanyl. She said she could not remember much after taking the heroin mix. When they returned to the shed, Jermainne gave Steven money. Shortly after that, she was raped by someone named โFofo.โ โOf all the men in this case, you are the worst,โ the woman told Butler. โThe fact that you used every single possible way to get out of taking accountability is unfathomable to me.โ Butlerโs father was initially arrested for the crime. She blasted him for letting him sit in jail and then had โthe nerve to wipe away tearsโ when his name was mentioned in court. โYou treated me like garbage,โ she added. โLike I was disposable. After this incident I could not eat. I spent the majority of my nights scratching and sitting in the bath for hours because I was so itchy. I stayed in a motel with my mom for a week because I was too unnerved to go home. I had to go to the hospital a couple of days later for hemorrhaging.โ Someone eventually took her back to the store in Eustis. A store manager helped her get a ride to Ocoee to see her ex-boyfriend. Once the ex-boyfriend heard her story, he took her to the hospital and police were called. After being examined by a nurse, genetic material was collected and investigators found a DNA match to John โPoppieโ Quashie, who is now 34. Moise S. โMosesโ Graham, is now 30. Another man was arrested but charges were dropped. Rabess 38, was sentenced to nine years in prison, Hodge to 12 years Graham to 12 ยฝ years. Scott and Quashie are awaiting trial. Graham pleaded no contest to the charges against him, including being a habitual felony offender. |

A multi-agency investigation, involving the Middletown Police Special Operations Unit, Dayton Police Department and FBI, resulted in federal drug and firearms felony charges against John Eugene Brown Sr., aka John John, of Middletown.
Police said the investigation recovered more than three kilograms of fentanyl, a large amount of cash, seven firearms, and four vehicles. It is alleged that five of the firearms were stolen, and two of the vehicles were stolen from North Carolina car dealerships, police said. Brown, 42, was taken into federal custody and booked into the Butler County Jail, where he is on a federal holder, jail records show. |

Kent to pay $1.5M to settle dispute with assistant police chief who displayed Nazi insignia
The city of Kent will pay more than $1.5 million to purchase the resignation of a former assistant police chief who was disciplined for posting a Nazi rank insignia on his office door and joking about the Holocaust.
Former Assistant Chief Derek Kammerzell had initially been given two weeks off without pay for his actions, but an outraged response by Kent citizens and members of the Jewish community resulted in Mayor Dana Ralph demanding Kammerzellโs resignation. The cityโs attempt to essentially discipline Kammerzell a second time led to a bitter dispute and standoff between his attorneys and the city that appeared headed for litigation. TAMPA โ A suspect wanted by Tampa police in connection to two homicides reportedly drowned in a Missouri river over the weekend.
Sherron David McCombs Jr., 22, was swimming at a float camp four miles north of Doniphan, Missouri, about 3 p.m. Sunday when he began to panic, went underwater and did not resurface, according to an incident report released by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. McCombs was visiting the river with some acquaintances when he went under, said Sgt. Clark Parrot, a Highway Patrol spokesperson. A nearby Marine patrol trooper and an off-duty trooper who were both in the area heard screams and rushed to where McCombs had gone underwater. They searched for several minutes and recovered McCombs in an area about eight feet deep, Parrott said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. |

A woman has been arrested on a murder charge after deputies say she set up a meeting that ended with her brother being shot and killed.
A Tampa woman is facing a murder charge after a person she tried to lure into a robbery through a dating app shot and killed her brother in self defense, Hillsborough County Sheriffโs officials said. Tatโyana Mekeva Gaston, 23, was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the May 31 shooting, according to court documents. Gaston was released from the Hillsborough County jail the day of her arrest after she posted $15,000 bail, records show. Police say Gaston matched with a person on the dating app BLK posing as a 22-year-old woman named โJada.โ She asked the person, who is not named in court records, to meet her at Kain Palms Apartments, where her brother, Jermon Kennard, 18, was waiting nearby to rob the person, the records state. When a masked Kennard threatened the person with a knife, he shot Kennard with a gun that was concealed in his waistband. Kennard was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he died of gunshot wounds to his head and chest, records state. |

TAMPA โ A Tampa man out on bail for a pending DUI charge has been arrested again, this time in connection to a crash that killed a bicyclist on May 20, records show.
Taylor Lucien Moise, 39, was arrested May 23 at Tampa General Hospital, where he was taken to be treated after the crash that killed bicyclist Joshua Kidd earlier that week. Moise faces charges of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and DUI resulting in injury or property damage. The day after Moiseโs arrest, Hillsborough prosecutors filed a motion asking a judge to keep Moise in jail until the case is resolved. The motion notes that he was arrested on charges of DUI and resisting arrest in Polk County in 2020 and released on bail. The Polk case is still pending. The motion and a Hillsborough County Sheriffโs Office arrest affidavit outline what investigators say led to the death of bicyclist Kidd. Moise was driving a 2013 BMW 550i near the intersection of 54th Street and Hartford Street in the Palm River-Clair Mel area about 2:40 a.m. Kidd was riding his bike along Hartford Street when the BMW struck him from behind. |

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - The man who shot a handgun during an altercation in north Phoenixโs Walmart inside the old Metrocenter complex Tuesday has been identified.
Police say, Diontay Evans, 18, was arguing with two men he knew inside the store around 3:30 p.m. As the three men were leaving, Evans fired a gun several times into the store. One bullet hit a 45-year-old woman who investigators say was an unintended victim. The woman was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Evans also fired on one of the men he was fighting with and hit a car. An off-duty Phoenix police officer heard the shots go off inside the store and detained Evans. The other man he was shooting at was also detained. Police have not identified the second person who was detained. No further details about what led up to the shooting are available. Police say the investigation is ongoing. |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville Metro Police officer who was shot in the face while supervising a construction site last year filed a lawsuit against the Kentucky Department of Corrections, claiming the man who shot him should have been in jail.
LMPD Officer Chris Lane was working the construction site on Interstate 264 in November when he was shot. "He had his jaw wired shut," said Tad Thomas, the attorney who represents Lane. "The bullet actually went in his cheek and kind of went around his neck and lodged in the back of his neck." Keyshaun Stewart is charged with that shooting and also shooting and killing Freddie O'Bannon, who was also working at that construction site. Thomas said his client wants to uncover what went wrong at Probation and Parole and why Stewart was out on the street to begin with. Lane's lawsuit targets the Kentucky Department of Corrections and Stewart's parole officer, claiming negligence on their behalf. In 2019, Stewart was sentenced to five years probation in Jefferson Circuit Court for Burglary, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Mischief. Eight months later, Stewart was arrested in Davidson County, Tennessee, for Aggravated Assault and Arson. The lawsuit states his probation officer never reported those new charges to Jefferson County. "Once Chris got shot and this came to light and Mr. O'Bannon was murdered by someone who should not have been on the street, then finally probation/parole was forced to discuss the issue," Thomas said. "They were forced to publicly acknowledge they had a problem, and now they are trying to deal with the problem as quietly as possible." CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 35-year-old Cleveland man received his sentence Monday morning in Cuyahoga County court for the fatal shooting of his girlfriend.
Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Shannon Gallagher ruled that Dominique Perry will spend 15 to 20.5 years behind bars. Perry is convicted of involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence and having weapons under disability. Cleveland police said the shooting occurred on May 15, 2021. Perry entered the home of his girlfriend, 32-year-old Alicia Coleman, according to police, and fatally shot her. After the shooting, police said Perry fled the scene. He said in court that the shooting was an accident. EMS transported Coleman to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police said her children were in the home when the shooting occurred, but were not injured. |

Sheffield then flooded Youngโs apartment and sent texts and Facebook messages to his boyfriendโs friends and family to make them believe he was still alive, according to reports. Sheffield, pretending to be Young, wrote to Youngโs family that he no longer wanted to see them, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Youngโs mother, Kimberly Cyrus, told the news outlet that they became suspicious when Young was dismissive about his youngest brother having a seizure. โThat wasnโt like him, because he wouldโve come here first thing to check on his brother,โ she said. โJust getting these messages didnโt sit right with any of us, because we knew wouldnโt send anything like that.โ Youngโs family reported his disappearance in December 2019. Months earlier, in late September, a gardener discovered human remains buried at the Awbury Arboretum, which is a 58-acre garden and historical estate in Philadelphia. Montgomery County detectives reopened the investigation this year. On Memorial Day, dental records confirmed that the body discovered three years earlier was Young. Young reportedly received $800 every two weeks from a $2 million trust fund. Sheffield is accused of stealing thousands from his slain boyfriendโs trust fund. Investigators reportedly reviewed 15 bank transactions which showed money being moved from Youngโs bank account to Sheffieldโs between July and December 2019. Sheffield was also accused of driving his missing boyfriendโs vehicle. Reports indicated that the trust fund was established following an undisclosed civil settlement. SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A 63-year-old Akron man was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison after being convicted of raping a young family member.
A Summit County jury found Eddie Dukes Jr. guilty of two counts of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition on June 3. Dukes is eligible for parole after he served 25 years. The assault happened in June of 2021 while the victim was at a relativeโs home. Waco police arrested a 17-year-old on a gun charge Monday who they said was seen on security footage near the scene of a shooting that sent a woman to a local hospital last month.
The teen's 52-year-old father was also arrested Monday, but it is unclear whether police believe his father is connected with the shooting. Ashton Brooks-Williams was booked into McLennan County Jail on a Class A misdemeanor charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon and remained in jail Tuesday on $750,000 bond. The shooting happened at 8:14 p.m. May 10 at North 26th Street and Cole Avenue in the Brookview neighborhood, an area that saw a number of shootings last month. An elderly woman was shot in the incident and was taken to an area hospital by ambulance. According to the arrest affidavit, Brooks-Williams was seen on security footage leaving a residence at 2600 Cole Ave. prior to the shooting with a pistol sticking out of his pocket. The affidavit also says the firearm is believed to have been stolen and was given to him by his father, Anthony Lamar Williams. Details of what police believe happened in the shooting are not included in the affidavit, and Brooks-Williams has not been charged in the shooting itself. Anthony Williams was booked into McLennan County Jail on Monday on a third-degree felony charge of deadly conduct and a state jail felony charge of theft of a firearm. He remained in jail Tuesday on bond totaling $400,000. |

A juror revealed to other members of the panel that she knew about the long-developing case and a previous mistrial. The juror had previously told the court she had no knowledge of the case. Judge Grant Hawkins granted a motion for a mistrial requested by both the defense and prosecution, according to court records. Police arrested a suspect Saturday following the death of a man during an altercation in front of a National City market.
A Black male suspect and the white male victim confronted each other for unknown reasons shortly before 1 p.m. outside Big Ben Market on East 8th Street, according to OnScene.TV. The suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim twice in the back before entering his vehicle, a black Chrysler 200. The victim walked to a nearby Union Bank and the suspect pursued him in the car, allegedly running him over deliberately in the bankโs parking lot. National City police arrived along with medics, who transported the victim to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Hours later, after 6 p.m., a member of the National City police gang unit spotted the suspect in his car on National City Boulevard. A Tennessee woman is slated to appear in court Monday after allegedly shooting into the home of another woman whose children were inside.
Johari Jenkins, 23, of Memphis was charged in May with multiple counts of criminal attempt first-degree murder and aggravated assault, as well as other things, according to court records reported on by local Fox 13. Memphis Police were called to a woman's home May 2 after she reported that a suspect, later identified as Jenkins, allegedly fired gunshots into the house where she was with her three children. Police later interviewed the children involved, who alleged Jenkins shot once into the floor and said, "I hope I hit one of them little b******," according to an affidavit. Jenkins later went to the breezeway on the second floor and allegedly fired four to five more times through the living room window. Investigators also spoke with a witness who said she heard the shots from a nearby apartment. The witness reportedly told police that she heard Jenskins yell, "Since I already got a charge on me, I might as well get another one today by killing you and your kids, b***h." A second witness reportedly claimed she saw a bullet strike her neighbor's front door and corroborated that Jenkins said, "I hope I hit one of your kids and Iโm going to kill you next b***h." The witness also said she saw Jenskins shatter the windshield of her neighbor's car when she tossed a glass bottle at it before kicking out the back window. |

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) โ A New Jersey man was sentenced to seven years in state prison for setting a house in Lakewood on fire in 2020 while three people were still inside, the Ocean County Prosecutorโs Office said Friday.
Jamal Preston, 27, of Egg Harbor Township, pleaded guilty in January to arson which he admitted on Aug.20, 2020. He had intentionally set fire to the residence with an ignitable liquid and open blame, according to prosecutors. He then fled the scene and was arrested at an Absecon motel on Aug.31, 2020. No one was hurt during the incident. He has been in Ocean County Jail in Toms River since. Preston is expected to serve his sentence under the No Early Release Act before being eligible for parole, according to the prosecutorโs Office. |

Larry Jo Taylor Jr.'s trial was scheduled to begin Monday, but Marion Superior Judge Grant Hawkins declared a mistrial after a juror told other jurors about the case's history, including that a mistrial had been declared during Taylor's first trial in December, The Indianapolis Star reported. Taylor's trial has now been rescheduled to August. Taylor is one of three men police say were involved in a string of November 2015 home invasions on Indianapolis' north side that ended when Amanda Blackburn, 28, was fatally shot in her home while 12 weeks pregnant with her second child. She was slain two years after she and her husband, pastor Davey Blackburn,moved to Indianapolis from South Carolina to found Resonate Church, which was shuttered in 2019. Hawkins had declared a mistrial in Taylor's first trial after learning some jurors knew Blackburn had been pregnant โ a fact defense attorneys successfully moved to keep from the jury. Taylor, 25, faces 13 charges, including murder, burglary and criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon. Taylor's two co-defendants accepted plea deals on the condition they would cooperate in his prosecution. Jalen E. Watson pleaded guilty in 2017 to robbery and burglary charges. He was sentenced in March 2021 to 29 years for the robbery charge and 20 combined years for the burglary charges, and ordered to serve the sentences concurrently. Diano Cortez Gordon pleaded guilty in 2018 to robbery resulting in serious bodily injury and burglary charges. His sentencing has not yet been scheduled. |

A Queens man was arrested on charges he raped a
13-year-old girl on Long Island, police said.
Andrew Ramsaroop, 30, of South Ozone Park, allegedly met the girl via Snapchat, then rendezvoused with her at a playground in Hauppauge where he raped her, cops said. Ramsaroop allegedly set the wheels in motion for the heinous act when he met up with the girl at the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove on May 13, officials said. At that time, he tried to coax the girl and her friend into his vehicle, but was rebuffed, investigators said. The rape occurred later the same day, police said. Detectives arrested Ramsaroop on Friday night, authorities said, noting the girl informed a school official about the rape and the school notified police. NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Officers with the Nacogdoches Police Department arrested a 20-year-old man early Sunday morning in connection with allegations that he hit a woman with a blunt instrument at an apartment complex on EJ Campbell Blvd. and then fled.
Jamarcus Dewayne Creer, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County jail on a second-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. No bond amount has been set for his charge yet. According to the NPD media report, the alleged assault occurred at an apartment complex located at 3109 EJ Campbell Blvd at about 9:10 p.m. Saturday. Sgt. Brent Handy with the Nacogdoches Police Department said Creer used a blunt object to hit a female victim in the upper body area and then fled the scene. NPD officers found Creer a short time later and arrested him, the media report stated. Handy said the victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. |

SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A Tyler man is in jail after a child suffered third-degree burns in a bathtub.
Joshua Tranair Meekings, 26, is charged with first-degree injury to a child. He was arrested on Monday and is being held on a $1 million bond.
According to an arrest affidavit released to KLTV on Friday, a Smith County Sheriffโs Office detective was notified on May 27 that a child had been taken by medical helicopter to a Dallas hospital the day before for burn injuries. According to the affidavit, Meekings, who is the childโs evil stepfather, told medical staff that the child had bumped against a stove, causing boiling water to spill on the boyโs lower body. CPS advised the injuries were not consistent with the explanation and the injuries were consistent with the child being dipped in boiling water. The affidavit states the detective called the childโs mother. She said she came to the home on May 26 and found her son wrapped in a towel. She said once she saw his injuries, she told Meekings to call 911. She said the babysitter told her Meekings had placed the boy in the bathtub and turned on the water. The babysitter said Meekings then went to another room to play video games, leaving the boy alone in the bathtub. She said when the boy could not bear the heat of the water any long, he got out. The mother said Meekings then saw the boyโs burns and wrapped him in a towel. According to the affidavit, the detective then talked to Meekings. Meekings said he had come over to give the boy a bath and had left him alone in there with running water for three to five minutes. The detective next talked to a Dallas doctor, who said the child suffered burns over 33 to 36% of his body and a majority of he burns are third degree and he will require multiple surgeries. She said the boy is currently intubated and on a ventilator due to his medications. Deputies did a check on the water temperature at the home. Once pooled, the water had a temperature of 140 degrees. Despite Meekings saying he left the child alone in the bathtub, the affidavit states it is believed Meekings held the boy down in the bathtub, causing the injuries. Ghadeer died May 31. Her sister, who was listed in stable condition, is recovering from her injuries. Memorial Day was the first time her family had gone to the beach, but it turned out to be a tragic day as Alexander Armond Smith, 23 of Detroit drove onto the beach and struck Ghadeer and her older sister. Police initially said Smith was from Ypsilanti. Smith had a drunk driving conviction from March of this year, and dozens of other driving infractions. The crash happened at about 7:30 p.m. Smith was arrested within a few hours. During the investigation, Smith claimed he was under โdemonic control,โ and not at fault, according to prosecutors. Grandfather Mark Collins and his grandchildren were found dead in a cabin in rural Centerville, 100 miles outside of Houston and more than 200 miles from where Lopez met his end, reports said. 
The other victims were three brothers โ Waylon Collins, 18, Carson Collins, 16 and Hudson Collins, 11 โand their cousin, Bryson Collins, 11, KHOU-11 reported. The family members had arrived early Thursday at the cabin, which was used on weekends for hunting and other outdoor activities, reports said.
โWe are devastated by the loss of our dear family members at the family ranch in Centerville, Texas,โ the family said in a statement, according to KHOU. โThese precious people who loved and were loved by so many, will never be forgotten.โ Waylon Collins had just graduated high school in Tomball, which is in the suburbs outside Houston. He was also an athlete and umpire for the Tomball Little League, according to statements. The Tomball Independent School District had earlier released a statement announcing the deaths of the grandchildren. โThe loss of a student, for any reason, is heartbreaking, but to lose four in such a tragic way is excruciating, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of these beloved students and grandfather,โ the statement said. Lopez, who was serving two life sentences for murder, escaped from a prison bus on May 12 after he somehow undid his bonds, got out of a metal cage and stabbed the driver with an unknown object in the hand. Lopez got off the bus for a moment then hopped back on and drove it a short distance before corrections officers fired shots and disabled the bus, reports said. A cellphone video after his escape appeared to show him in a wooded area evading cops โ and he wasnโt found until Thursday, when cops stopped his truck as he was headed south toward the US border with Mexico, officials said. At approximately 2 p.m. on April 18, a 46-year-old male victim was approached by Bojang and at least three other male individuals behind an apartment building on Webster Avenue after arranging a meeting to purchase merchandise through a digital media platform, police said. One of the suspects displayed a firearm and struck the victim in the head, while the others forcibly removed his wallet containing credit and debit cards, police said. The individuals fled on foot in an unknown direction. Four days later, Bojang and at least two other male individuals allegedly approached a 28-year-old male victim at approximately 8:50 p.m. on April 22 inside the same building after police say they again arranged a meeting online to purchase unspecified merchandise. One of the individuals displayed a firearm and struck the victim in the head while the others forcibly removed his Samsung watch, cell phone and wallet containing $100, police said. The individuals fled on foot in an unknown direction. The victim suffered a laceration and bruising to his forehead but refused medical attention. KENT, Wash. - Investigators say a fugitive murder suspect who was shot and killed by police Wednesday night in Kent was connected to the disappearance of an Oakley, California woman.
During a Thursday morning news conference, Oakley police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Marshall Curtis Jones and they said he was the ex-boyfriend of missing 24-year-old Alexis Gabe. She had been missing since Jan. 26.
Oakley Police Department Chief Paul Beard said Jones was uncooperative and refused to talk to detectives during the investigation. Beard also said police determined Jones left California and traveled to Washington state within days of Gabe's disappearance. He came back to California last month and then went back to Washington. A warrant was issued for Jones and officers tried to arrest him at an apartment complex in the 3500 block of South 222nd Place in Kent. According to the Seattle Police Department, Jones charged law enforcement with a knife when they knocked the suspect's door. A Seattle police officer, a deputy from Snohomish County and a deputy from the U.S. Marshals Service fired their weapons. Jones died at the scene and police said he was the only suspect in this case. A man who allegedly shot and killed a woman outside of an Amazon warehouse in Mississippi on Friday has been killed by police after a shootout.
Corey D. Brewer, 44, allegedly shot and killed Ebony Leshay Crocket, 44, at an Amazon warehouse in Horn Lake, Mississippi on Friday morning, according to Fox 13. The incident took place in the parking lot.
Crocket was allegedly shot three times. The Horn Lake Police Department said that the two knew each other from working at Amazon. After Brewer allegedly killed Crocket, a BOLO was put out, which was relayed to local law enforcement agencies. A murder warrant was also issued for Brewer. According to Hillsborough County Court records, Shakayla Denson pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Tuesday in the death of Je'Hyrah Daniels. The news was first reported by the Tampa Bay Times. โIt is impossible to fathom how a mother could drown her own child. Denson clearly had some serious mental issuesโwhich multiple expert witnesses foundโbut we were not willing to concede that she was not guilty by reason of insanity and avoid any punishment whatsoever. This sentence imposes an appropriate punishment and achieves justice for JeโHyrah,โ Hillsborough State Attorney Andrew Warren said in a statement. On Aug. 2, 2018, Denson waded into the Hillsborough River and left Je'Hyrah to drown. Witnesses at the time saw her dragging Je'Hyrah by the arm toward the river. At one point, witnesses said, both were screaming. Witnesses said Denson held Je'Hyrah close to her chest as they went deeper into the water. When the water was near the top of Denson's shoulders, she reportedly let go of Je'Hyrah and turned around, heading back to shore. The DOC reportedly maintained they did not make a mistake because his original sentence was labeled โvacatedโ on the order. Amid the confusion, Bennett told his jailers they were wrong to release him and later turned himself in to police, according to the article. FOREIGN man arrested for groping two women on cross-country flight 
A California man has been arrested for allegedly groping two women โ one of whom was carrying a baby โ on a cross-country redeye flight on Wednesday, officials said.
During the overnight flight from Los Angeles to Boston, Jairaj Singh Dhillon, 42, of Modesto, allegedly first inappropriately touched a woman sitting in the aisle seat next to him, according to charging documents. Heโs accused of grabbing the womanโs thigh and groin area as she cared for her infant child who was in a car seat in the window seat next to her. The woman yelled out โthis man just groped me,โ and asked for help, federal prosecutors said. The second victim, who was seated across the aisle from Dhillon, claimed he reached out with both his hands and grabbed her groin and buttocks when she was standing in the aisle. |

'Man' rapes woman at knifepoint in Bronx park in broad daylight
A man stalked and raped a woman at knifepoint inside a Bronx park Tuesday morning in a disturbing daylight attack, police said.
The suspect waited in front of the womanโs apartment near Beech Terrace and Beekman Avenue and struck when the 38-year-old victim walked outside at 8:30 a.m., according to the NYPD. The fiend, armed with a knife, forced the woman to walk to St. Maryโs Park, where he brutally raped her and stole her debit card, police said. The victim was on Sedgwick Avenue near West Burnside Avenue, outside FDNY Engine 43/Ladder 59, in Morris Heights around 12:10 a.m. on May 23 when a man stabbed him three times, cops said late Monday.
A surveillance image released by the NYPD shows the attacker approaching the victim with a threatening stance and raising a knife. A Bronx day care worker was busted on child pornography charges after one of the kids from the center he worked at appeared in lewd footage, authorities said this week.
Silfredo A. Castillo Martinez, 32 โ who works at Linaโs Garden Day Care โ operating out of his home on Decatur Avenue near East Gun Hill Road in Williamsbridge โ was busted May 3, cops said Monday.
According to the police, he is accused of โpossessing multiple pornographic images of sex acts with children.โ Police said one of the day careโs charges was a victim โ and released Martinezโs mugshot as they investigate whether he had any other young victims. He was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child, and possessing a sexual performance by a child, authorities said. Martinez was employed by the center from July 2011 until his arrest this month, cops said. The day care search website Winnie indicates the license for Linaโs Garden Day Care โis currently inactive, in renewal, or no longer in use.โ State records show the day care had the capacity for 12 children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years, plus four additional school-aged kids. A 26-year-old man wanted in a deadly shooting at an outdoor festival that left one person dead and seven others injured has turned himself in to police, authorities said.
Skyler Buckner was booked in Muskogee County jail around 4 p.m. Sunday, nearly 16 hours after the deadly gunfire at the Memorial weekend event in Taft, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) said. Police had issued a warrant for his arrest. He faces yet-to-be-determined charges, Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Edwards told the Tulsa World. Witnesses told authorities that an argument preceded the gunfire at the annual event packed full of at least 1,500 revelers. โWe heard a lot of shots and we thought it was firecrackers at first,โ said Sylvia Wilson, an owner of Taftโs Boots Cafe, which was open at the time in the town that only has a population of a few hundred people. โThen people start running and ducking. And we were yelling at everyoneโฆ โGet down! Get down!โ Wilson recalled. The person shot dead was not immediately identified, other than being a 39-year-old black woman. Witnesses told Tulsa World that she was struck in the head. The others injured โ ranging in age from 9 to 56 โ are all said to have non-life-threatening injuries, the agency said. $10K Reward Offered For Information On (Black murder suspect) Mtula Payton
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) โ A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that will lead to the arrest of Mtula Payton, who is wanted in connection to the downtown Sacramento shooting that left six dead and 12 others injured.
The Sacramento Police Department identified Payton, 27, in mid-April as a suspected shooter in the April 3 shooting that happened in the area of 10th and K streets. Payton is accused of engaging in a gunfight between rival gangs that left three innocent women dead โ Johntaya Alexander, Melinda Davis, and Yamile Martinez. Rival gang members Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, Sergio Harris, and DeโVazia Turner, were also killed. So far, two others have been arrested in connection to the homicides: brothers Smiley and Dandrae Martin. The Martin brothers were arraigned last week on murder charges relating to the deaths of the three women, who police say were โinnocent bystanders.โ Sacramento police say Payton should be considered armed and dangerous. |

A man has been arrested after reportedly robbing and murdering a 70-year-old man in Indiana.
Jesus Mazariegos was found by police in Indianapolis after receiving reports of a man down.
Mazariegos later died from his injuries, and the County Coroner identified the cause of death to be physical assault resulting in blunt-force injuries. Joshua Dye was identified by police to be a potential suspect, and he was later arrested on charges of robbery and murder in connection with the case. |

TUCUMCARI, N.M. (KFDA) - New Mexico State Police are investigating a homicide in Tucumcari.
Officials said police responded at 9:45 p.m. to Cemetery Road and 4774 Quay County Road 63 on reports of a shooting on Saturday.
A victim, identified as 46-year-old Michael Arellano of Tucumcari, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The NM State Police Invesitgations Bureau were called to investigate. Agents learned Arellano and 42-year-old Tyje Garrett, of Tucumcari, were at a home for a graduation party. Officials said during the party, there was a verbal altercation between the two and Arellano left and was last seen walking north on Cemetery Road. Garrett also left the party in his truck, drove past Arellano, turned his truck around and drove toward Arellano. Officials said Garrett exited his truck and approached Arellano, and a verbal altercation ensued. Gareett reportedly shot Arellano several times and left the scene, according to NM State Police. A BOLO for Garrett was broadcasted to law enforcement and he was taken into custody without incident by the Local Police in Logan, New Mexico. Garrett was booked into the Quay County Detention Center and charged with murder in the 1st degree. |

Loyd was arrested for one count of open/gross lewdness, school employee engaging in sex with a pupil, and possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center but "will be assigned to home per the negotiated agreement with the bargaining unit," according to police. A man accused of helping to smuggle migrants into the United States is charged with endangering a life after federal prosecutors said he shoved one out of his car and ran over him as he tried to evade border patrol agents.
Isaiah Osorio,a 23-year-old from "New" Mexico, met a human smuggling coordinator on Facebook and arranged to help transport migrants near the border, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorneyโs Office for the District of Arizona. Osorio drove to southern Arizona on May 24 and picked up multiple CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIEN INVADERS who had SHOWN DISTAIN AND DISREGARD AND HATRED OF AMERICAN LAW BY crossING the border without legal documents, the release says. He drove them for about half an hour before noticing that law enforcement officers were following him. He then stopped the car and yelled at his passengers to get out. He shoved one who had not fully exited the vehicle out of the car and started driving again, the release says. The passenger fell, and Osorio ran over him as he tried to flee, prosecutors said. Osorioโs attorney, Saul Huerta, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from McClatchy News. U.S. Border Patrol agents rendered aid to the man on scene and called emergency medical services, the release says. The man was taken to the hospital where he was treated for injuries, including abrasions and head trauma. Osorio fled from a Border Patrol checkpoint before he was caught by agents, the release says. Pittsburgh police arrested a man on Monday in connection with a drive-by shooting that left an 18-month-old child dead over Memorial Day weekend.
Londell Falconer, 26, is facing charges of homicide and criminal conspiracy in connection with the little boy's death. Police were originally called to the scene on the 100 block of Fourth Avenue shortly before 3:00 p.m. and located the child, DeโAvry Thomas, inside the vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel pronounced the boy dead at the scene. |
