The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee said one of its priests, multiple parishioners and students at a local Catholic school were among the injured. WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - A woman was arrested on second-degree murder charges after she allegedly stabbed a 71-year-old woman to death outside a Williamsburg Walgreens store Friday night.
According to the Williamsburg Police Department, at about 6 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the 1300 block of Richmond Road for a stabbing incident. When they arrived, they found 71-year-old Catherine Patricia Heaston, suffering from stab wounds. Medics took her to Riverside Doctors' Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Police said the victim appeared to arrive at Walgreens separately from the suspect, 35-year-old Williamsburg woman LaTeisha Meekins. Witnesses said the two women met outside the store and spoke before the stabbing occurred. At this time, the motive for the attack is unclear. Police said they believe there is no ongoing threat to the public. Meekins is being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond. BLACK-ON-WHITE: (Black) Everett tenant convicted of murdering his (White) landlord
EVERETT — After a two-week trial, a jury convicted an Everett tenant Friday of second-degree murder for killing his landlord last year.
Howard Benzel, 67, and his wife owned a building in the 2100 block of Madison Street. On March 28, 2020, Benzel went to the building to speak to Frank Walton.
His wife of over 40 years told police they had been having problems with Walton, 42. He was living in the commercial unit he rented to sell used goods. The Benzels didn’t plan to renew his lease.
Benzel was supposed to be back in Mukilteo to take her for a drive at 1 p.m. Worried, his wife went looking for him around 4 p.m. Passersby discovered human remains two days later about a mile north of Lake McMurray in Skagit County. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the remains as those of Benzel and ruled his death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma. On the witness stand, Medical Examiner Dr. J. Matthew Lacy made what he considered a conservative estimate for how many times Benzel was struck: 25. One wound on Benzel’s cheek was consistent with being hit with a hammer, Lacy testified. He said there was also some evidence of possible strangulation and bleeding on Benzel’s brain. A Snohomish County Superior Court jury found Walton was the culprit. Prosecutors and Walton’s defense attorneys made closing arguments to the jury Thursday. Deputy prosecuting attorney Elise Deschenes laid out evidence linking Walton to the killing, including video footage showing him driving in Skagit County the day of the murder, his DNA on various objects and Benzel’s blood in Walton’s unit. “He made the decision he was going to kill Howard,” Deschenes told the jury. “If you don’t believe that perhaps he decided before it started, he decided at the second hit, the third hit, the fourth hit, the fifth, the 15th, the 20th, the 25th and likely many more after. He decided and followed through on his intent to kill Howard Benzel.” Walton’s public defender, David Roberson, argued there was little evidence of premeditation and the defendant had no motive to kill Benzel. He also said prosecutors hadn’t proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Walton murdered Benzel. “There is no doubt that the lead detective on this case … did an exhaustive, thorough investigation,” Roberson said. “And even after that, you still have questions as to what happened to Howard Benzel.” Jurors heard from over 30 witnesses during the trial in front of Superior Court Judge Anna Alexander. Walton declined to testify Thursday. Flanked by his defense attorneys, he often wrote on sheets of white paper during testimony. The jury began deliberating around 9 a.m. Friday. Prosecutors charged Walton with first-degree murder last April. At trial, jurors were given four options. They could have convicted Walton of the original charge of first-degree murder, or the lesser charges of either second-degree murder or first-degree manslaughter. Or they could have acquitted him. They convicted him of the second-most-serious charge. The jury also found Walton guilty of tampering with physical evidence, a misdemeanor. As the verdict was delivered just after 4 p.m. Friday, members of Benzel’s family cried with relief. Walton had no prior felony convictions, according to court documents. In 2013, a woman petitioned for a protection order against Walton, alleging he choked her and threatened to “turn my lights out.” A judge granted the restraining order. An obituary described Benzel as a dedicated father of two and a grandfather who was “dependable, funny, smart, honest, motivated — the list could go on.” “He died too soon in life and had so much more to accomplish,” the obituary said. BALTIMORE — A man was shot and killed following a dispute over the weekend, according to Baltimore City Police.
The suspect who shot and killed 36-year-old Roy Henry Cantler, III has been arrested and charged, according to Baltimore City Police.
On Saturday, at a little before 10:40 a.m., officers were called to the 2200 block of Christian Street for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived to find an 36-year-old Roy Henry Cantler, III unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital where he was declared brain dead and put on life support. However, on Monday, he was taken off life support and died of his injuries. On Thursday, BPD confirmed that they arrested 39-year-old Taiwan Mitchell, of Baltimore. Detectives believe Mitchell shot Cantler after the two had a dispute. Mitchell was transported to the Homicide Section where he was interviewed and then taken to Central Booking Intake Facility. He was charged with 1st Degree Murder and remains in Central Booking where he is being held without bail. (Interracial couple) of suspects in deadly Halloween weekend shooting in Myrtle Beach planned to rob victim
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Arrest warrants for two people charged in a deadly shooting over the Halloween weekend indicate that the killing took place during a scheme by the suspects to rob the victim.
The warrants obtained by News13 do not reveal many details about their alleged plot to commit an armed robbery that led to the Oct. 30 death of Patrick Smith, 49, of Marshville, North Carolina. However, they do indicate that Smith was apparently trying to flee from the suspects when he was shot. Two suspects, Katerena Bedjan, 27, of Leland, North Carolina, and Leo Watkins, 17, of Surfside Beach, who also had a Henderson, North Carolina, address, each face murder and criminal-conspiracy charges. They both are being held without bond in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. According to an Horry County police report, officers called about 3 a.m. on Oct. 30 to Shore Drive in Myrtle Beach found Smith lying on the sidewalk injured. The report states that Smith was drunk but responsive and had a broken arm. It also said that he had been hit by a car. A spokesman for Horry County Police said the investigation into the shooting remains open and that additional charges and arrests are possible. KENNEWICK, WA A 22-year-old man was fatally shot Monday night after he crawled through the window of a Kennewick apartment to open the front door for one of its residents. Beckett Smith had just walked out of the apartment and motioned for the woman to come inside when he was shot by Jawan V. Osby, according to Kennewick police. Osby reportedly came out of the apartment behind Smith and stood on the concrete pad near the front door as he fired one shot. Smith of Kennewick was hit on the left side of his body, and died at a Tri-Cities hospital. It is not clear from the probable cause affidavit, written by Kennewick Officer Joshua Riley, if Osby believed Smith was an intruder when he shot him.
Osby, 27, turned over his 9mm gun to police at the scene and admitted to the shooting, court documents said. He is being held in the Benton County jail on $250,000 bail with an investigative hold for second-degree manslaughter. Prosecutors have until Friday morning to charge Osby or release him from custody. Kennewick police responded to the 1330 W. 10th Ave. apartment complex at 10:40 p.m. after a person called 911 about hearing a single gunshot and a woman screaming for help for a dying man. The wounded Smith was on the sidewalk outside the apartment. He was rushed to the hospital. The initial report said Osby lives in Fircrest, but police now say he had been living in that apartment since September. Gia Muir also lives in the apartment, and told police that she and Smith came home about 10:30 p.m. to find the door locked. Osby has the only key, and Muir believed he wasn’t home at the time because she did not see his car outside, court documents said. Muir told officers that she and Smith knocked on the door and windows, and rang the doorbell, for about 10 minutes but no one answered. That’s when Smith went in through a window to unlock the door, documents said. Police said the shooting happened outside the apartment on the sidewalk where Smith was found. Officers also located a shell casing about 5 to 7 feet from the front door. An autopsy on Smith is scheduled for Thursday. Osby was booked into the jail about nine hours after the shooting. Moments after playing in a basketball game Wednesday night, two Milton High School students were arrested on murder charges in what authorities said was a botched robbery during a drug deal that killed a 24-year-old man. Now, one of the teenagers has been dropped by the university where he had signed to play NCAA basketball, the school announced. Cameron Walker, 17, and Jonathan Murray, 18, were taken into custody by Alpharetta police and the North Fulton SWAT team. They also face charges of criminal attempt to commit armed robbery in the Oct. 14 shooting death of Connor Mediate, a recent Kennesaw State University graduate. FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - UPDATE: Three murder charges have been filed against the man police say opened fire at a north Fargo business after being fired.
35-year-old Anthony Reese is charged with two counts of murder, as well as the murder of an unborn child in Wednesday’s shooting at 401 27th Street North just after 2:00 p.m. on November 17.
Both Richard Pittman, 43, and April Carbone, 32, were killed by Reese, court documents say. Friends and co-workers of the victims say they were a couple and say Carbone was 35-weeks pregnant with a baby girl when she died. Documents say a witness told officers Pittman and Reese were in an altercation on the factory floor earlier in the day on Wednesday. Management told Reese to leave, but witnesses say he came back a short time later and re-engaged Pittman in another fight. The witness said she watched Reese pull out a handgun and shoot Pittman multiple times before he turned and fired several rounds at Carbone. Police say shortly after the shooting, Reese turned himself in at the Fargo Police Department and quickly requested an attorney. Police later recovered Reese’s 9mm semi-automatic pistol in a residential neighborhood several blocks from the scene. Reese is already a convicted felon out of Minnesota, as well as a registered sex offender in North Dakota. You can read more about his criminal record here. 27-year-old (white) woman that had a (black) baby-daddy found shot to death in St. Louis 
ST. LOUIS — Homicide detectives are investigating after a woman was found shot to death near Page Avenue in St. Louis Tuesday afternoon.
According to a police report, the 27-year-old woman was found at 3:54 p.m. lying on the street in the 3900 block of Evans Avenue, just north of Page Boulevard. Police said she had a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
She was identified Wednesday as Natasha Selby, who lived on the block where she was found dead. Police reported they know of a 20-year-old suspect in the case, but no other details about the man or the circumstances were released. Video shows pursuit, fatal police shooting of (Black) man who fired at and rammed school bus driven by his wife in Buena Park
Authorities on Thursday released dashcam video of the dramatic pursuit and fatal shooting of a man who rammed and fired at a school bus driven by his wife before he was shot and killed by police in Buena Park.
The high-speed pursuit started on the afternoon of Sept. 3, when an officer patrolling the area of Orangethorpe and Western avenues spotted a silver SUV colliding with the school bus.
The officer then saw the SUV’s driver, later identified as 60-year-old Cedric Baxter of Compton, pull out a gun and shoot at the bus, Buena Park Police Sgt. Chad Weaver said in a video statement. At the time of the shooting, there was a 6-year-old boy on the bus, which was being driven by Baxter’s wife, whom the man was trying to kill, Weaver said. The man then got back into the car and fled as the officer initiated a pursuit. The suspect drove dangerously, chasing and repeatedly ramming the school bus right in front of the officer during the high-speed pursuit, graphic dashcam video released by police showed. At one point, Baxter drove to the Buena Park School District bus maintenance yard in the 6800 block of Orangethorpe Avenue, circled a parking area and then went back out on city streets. The chase continued, with the SUV speeding, driving over sidewalks, running stop signs, and at times driving the wrong way and nearly crashing into several vehicles. Baxter then drove back to the school district’s bus yard, crashed through a locked gate and then slammed into a parked vehicle. After crashing the SUV, the man gets out with what appears to be a gun in his hand, the video shows. As he emerges from the vehicle, a rapid succession of gunshots is heard and the man points the apparent firearm in his hand towards police as he falls to the ground and gunfire continues. It’s unclear if he fired any shots at the officers. Body-worn camera released by police showed at least two officers quickly getting out of their patrol cars and shooting at the man after he crashed. He’s later seen motionless on the ground as officers pointed firearms towards him, saying “standby,” “he’s got a gun” and yelled at him to “drop the gun.” Officers later began rendering medical aid to Baxter before Orange County Fire Authority paramedics responded and pronounced him dead at the scene, the sergeant said. Police released photos of a black gun they said Baxter used, as well as a photo of a bullet strike on the school bus. “The investigation revealed that this was not a random act, but the school bus driver was Mr. Baxter’s wife, and he intended to murder her,” the sergeant said. His wife had an active domestic violence restraining order out against Baxter for an incident that happened in Los Angeles County, according to Buena Park police. Baxter also had an extensive criminal history, which includes prior convictions for rape, armed robbery, voluntary manslaughter, narcotic-related offenses and domestic violence, Weaver said. At the time of the shooting, Baxter was on active parole for vehicle theft and his parole had been revoked. There was an active parole violation warrant for Mr. Baxter and he had cut off his GPS monitoring device related to his status as a sex offender, Weaver added. (Black) Rockford man charged with sexually assaulting two juveniles
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Nylek Cobb, 24, has been charged with criminal sexual assault to two juveniles under the age of 15.
According to Rockford Police, detectives were contacted to investigate a report of sexual assault on Saturday, April 17th.
During the investigation, police say they became aware of a second victim, also under the age of 15. Police say the victims and Cobb were known to each other, but did not elaborate. Cobb was arrested after officers were called to the 1300 block of 5th Avenue on Wednesday, November 17th, on a domestic violence incident. Atlanta airport gunfire: Manhunt underway for (Black) convicted felon 
A manhunt was underway in Atlanta on Saturday night after an apparently accidental gunshot at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport set off a panic among travelers.
The firearm went off after a passenger awaiting a bag search reached inside his bag for the weapon, FOX 5 of Atlanta reported. After the shot was fired, the passenger ran off from the security checkpoint and fled from the airport, according to the report.
The incident was thought to be an accident and not an "active shooter" situation, authorities said. Authorities later identified the traveler as Kenny Wells, 42, who they said was a convicted felon. Police obtained a warrant for his arrest and he was still being sought late Saturday night. Wells was facing charges of carrying a concealed weapon at a commercial airport, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharging a firearm and reckless conduct, Moorman said. |

An unlicensed beauty consultant from Texas has been charged with manslaughter, accused of injecting silicone into the butt of a female client, which prosecutors say resulted in her death more than three years ago.
Lisa Fernandez, 47, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the April 2018 death of 38-year-old Marja McClendon. According to court documents, Fernandez was offering beauty injections without a license out of her home in Houston and obtained the silicone used in the procedures by illegal means. Prosecutors said McClendon had made two appointments with Fernandez to get butt injections, which caused her intense pain and breathing problems, KHOU11 reported. (Black) Police arrest (black) man for fatal North Charleston shooting
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The North Charleston Police Department has arrested a 45-year-old man in connection to an October shooting.
Sean Dimtris Brown was arrested Friday and charged with murder and possession of a deadly weapon in the commission of a violent crime, authorities said.
The charges stem from an Oct. 20 incident at the Economy Inn and Suites on Rivers Avenue. Officers say they were dispatched in reference to a shooting where they found Reginald Hamilton lying in the parking lot. Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers say Brown was apprehended by the Intelligence Led Policing Unit and the US Marshals Task Force. He was being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center. |

A man was fatally shot by a co-worker multiple times on his first day at his new job at a manufacturing plant in Alabama.
Jefferson County sheriff’s officials responded to reports of a man shot just after midnight on Wednesday at the Samuel Associated Tube Group in Pinson.
The victim was identified as 29-year-old John Eric Cole, of Birmingham, who officials say was shot several times in the back while on his first shift at the company. Cole was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. The suspect, 34-year-old Dexter Rashad Walker, had initially fled but was identified by witnesses as an employee, according to AL.com. The two allegedly had a legal dispute earlier this year. Walker promptly returned to the scene and turned himself over to deputies, according to the sheriff’s office. He was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he is being held without bond. He is charged with murder. Officials said it is not clear what led to the shooting. However, a company statement said the victim and the suspected gunman knew each other outside the plant, which employs over 200 people. Cole is the stepfather of Walker’s son, according to court records obtained by the Associated Press. In March, Walker accused Cole of choking the 12-year-old boy and making threats months earlier. “My son … told me that he doesn’t feel safe at the home where he (resides) and the stepfather has been abusing him over and over,” Walker wrote, according to court documents. A judge issued an order requiring Cole and the boy’s mother to stay away from Walker. In July, Walker asked the judge to dismiss the case because he felt that the boy was no longer in danger. Samuel Associated Tube Group said it is cooperating with law enforcement in its investigation. |

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was convicted this week of robbery with a dangerous weapon and other crimes in connection with robberies in December.
Christopher Darnell Pharr,
36, was convicted in Rowan County Superior Court of felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony larceny and felony conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Pharr also admitted his status as a habitual felon.
Judge Lori Hamilton sentenced Pharr to a minimum of 88 months in prison and a maximum of 118 months in prison. The suspect with the handgun demanded money, opened a drawer and took about $200 in cash, a news release said. Both suspects left the scene. Pharr was the suspect who did not have a handgun, a news release said. Three days later, Pharr entered Carolina Farm Credit on Statesville Boulevard through a rear door that was unlocked and demanded money, a news release said. Pharr was accused of stealing a purse that was on a table and fleeing. According to a witness, Pharr did not display or threaten the use of a weapon. Another witness ran to the parking lot and was able to retrieve the purse before Pharr left in a vehicle. A witness called 911 and provided the vehicle description. A robbery at Marlow’s Barbecue on Statesville Boulevard at roughly the same time involved Pharr walking through a door to the kitchen, saying that he had a gun and would shoot. A news release said Pharr reached over the counter, opened the register, and obtained about $306 in cash then left. A short time later, officers were able to locate the vehicle and Pharr was taken in custody. In addition to others, Pharr had been previously convicted of felony possession of a stolen firearm, felony possession of a firearm by convicted felon and felony possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine. |

The marked patrol vehicle was parked outside the officer's apartment complex in Gainesville when the men set fire to it around 1 a.m. on June 1, 2020. The defendants met in downtown Gainesville before spotting the SUV. They covered their faces with masks and bandanas, then shot a flare through the rear windshield, causing the fire, authorities said. The men were arrested less than two weeks after the incident. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, authorities spotted Smallwood's car after it matched a description. Inside, officers discovered three explosives and a flare gun. In addition to prison time, the defendants were sentenced to three years' supervised release. They also have to pay the Gainesville Police Department more than $3,600 in restitution. |

Ahmaud Arbery was ultimately responsible for his own death, a lawyer for one of the men charged with his murder argued in court on Friday. The explosive claim came as the defense rested its case, setting closing arguments for Monday in the high-profile trial over a killing that sparked commie-inspired black victimhood hoax agitation last year.
William Bryan is charged with felony murder for participating in the chase that led to Arbery being shot to death in February 2020 by Travis McMichael, who is also facing felony murder charges along with his father, Gregory McMichael. Bryan’s lawyer, Kevin Gough, attempted Friday to separate his client from the McMichaels in the criminal charges to be considered by the jury likely sometime next week. In doing so, he at several points argued that not only was his client not responsible for Arbery’s death, but that the 25-year-old Black man who was chased through a Georgia neighborhood bore the ultimate blame. Gough said Arbery had a “last chance” to avoid Bryan’s truck, which the men used to chase Arbery during the encounter. “You may consider whether Mr. Arbery had a last clear chance to avoid such danger and contributed to that danger, by his own conduct,” Gough said, adding that Arbery should have run to avoid the truck, possibly by “running into a neighbor’s house, jumping into a pool or climbing up the side of a tree.” All three men have pursued a claim of self-defense, and argued they were attempting a citizen’s arrest on Arbery because they suspected Arbery, who was jogging, had been committing burglaries in the area. Gough also argued for a mistrial Friday, on the grounds that there were “multiple Black voters” shirts people wore outside of the court, along with signs that read “Black pastors matter.” He also said there was a T-shirt he could not read but was “sure it was not flattering of Mr. Bryan.” Gough then claimed the trial was being influenced by a “mob mentality” and stories pushed by the media. At one point, Gough stated that the case has been “infected” by things that were not relevant to the guilt or innocence of the defendants and says “third parties” are influencing the case. Gough said this is what a “public lynching” looks like in the 21st century, describing the trial and the defendants who were criminally charged. “The perception is the reality. And the media has fed that perception and created that reality whether it was true or not,” Gough said. “This is what a mob mentality looks like in the 21st century and we are asking for a mistrial.” |
Two (Black) men arrested after charged with murder in unrelated shootings in Houston
Two Houston men who are charged with murder in unrelated fatal shootings in the city were arrested Tuesday, according to authorities.
Houston Police say 23-year-old Jahleel Kirksey is charged in the Monday fatal shooting of 26-year-old William Smith, who was found lying in a parking lot in the 9800 block of Meadowglen Lane. There was an argument, and a man shot Smith multiple times before fleeing in a sedan, according to police.
Authorities arrested Kirksey Tuesday after identifying him as a suspect, according to police.
In a different fatal shooting, which was in northwest Houston in early November, 20-year-old Tyree Hector is accused in the killing of 41-year-old Lonnie Day. Responding officers went to a home in the 2100 block of Hampton Street, where Day was unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds, according to police. Paramedics pronounced him dead. Hector went into Day’s room and shot him multiple times, according to information in a court document filed with the Harris County District Clerk. Hector then reportedly left the room and walked to another room in the home before returning to Day’s room, shooting multiple times again, per the document. Officials also arrested Hector Tuesday, according to Houston Police. Both Hector and Kirksey are in jail, online court records show. |

A Brooklyn man who stabbed his father 46 times and left the corpse in a pile of garbage to decompose on a Brooklyn sidewalk was arrested in Louisiana and brought back to New York, police and sources said Friday.
Joseph Adams, 26, was busted after a cop pulled him over in Gretna, La. — across the Mississippi River from New Orleans — and realized the NYPD was on the lookout for his car.
Members of the NYPD traveled to Louisiana to bring Adams back to New York to face charges. Adams is accused of stabbing his father, Christopher Adams, 46 times. He then wrapped his father’s body in a comforter, stuffed it into a trash bag and left it on Van Sinderen Ave. between Herkimer St. and Atlantic Ave. in Cypress Hills, police say. A passerby discovered the body on alongside a pile of garbage awaiting pickup on Oct. 26. By then, the 49-year-old victim’s corpse was so badly decomposed police could not immediately determine his sex or cause of death. Claudia Banton, 42 of Allenwood, Georgia — who also goes by the names Claudia Williams and Keisha Brown — was picked up by US Marshals in Jacksonville, Fla., on Nov. 8, and extradited to Brooklyn on Thursday, authorities said.
Banton was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon for allegedly walking up to 42-year-old Delia Johnson and shooting her from behind at point-blank range on busy Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights on Aug. 4, cops said. Chilling surveillance footage previously released by police shows the suspect walking up to Johnson and shooting her in the head before nonchalantly walking back to a double-parked SUV and driving away. Johnson’s relatives had previously said they recognized the female shooter as a one-time close family friend. The NYPD has not confirmed any connections between the two. Marshals in Florida located an address Banton was associated with and conducted surveillance on her, officials said. She was busted during a car stop. |

An 18-year-old has been formally charged in the shooting death of another teen in Tarrant just over one week ago.
haddeus Tyrese Canady is charged with murder in the slaying of 18-year-old Brent Brown, according to court records made public Friday. He is also charged with attempted murder for shooting at another male, who was not injured.
Canady, who had been hospitalized with an undisclosed injury, was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Thursday at 4:38 p.m. His bonds total $210,000. Brown died Thursday, Nov. 11, while he was hanging out with friends – listening to music and playing games – at a residence at the corner of Hall Street and Jackson Boulevard. It just before 2 p.m. that Thursday when the shots were fired, and Brown was found unresponsive inside and pronounced dead on the scene at 2:14 p.m. A neighbor reported hearing about four shots. Brown was a senior at Banks Academy, an online Christian school in the Birmingham area. His mother said he was set to graduate in 2021 and was then planning to go to college in Tennessee to play basketball. A 9-year-old girl is being called a hero by police for fighting off a robber who attacked her mother outside of a Florida supermarket this month.
West Palm Beach police officials were so proud of Journee Nelson, they honored her bravery this week. She received a medal, certificate and a Target gift card.
The attack happened outside of Sabor Tropical Supermarket, 5011 Broadway Ave., on Nov. 2. Surveillance video shows Danielle Mobley and her daughter walk up to their car in the parking lot. A man — who police identified as 29-year-old Demetrius Jackson — stands nearby, next to large propane tanks. He suddenly runs at Mobley, who is putting her groceries away, and tackles her to the ground. He messed with the wrong family. There is a struggle for her purse and Journee runs around the car to help her mom, throwing punches at the suspect’s face. The suspect then pushes her to the ground. That’s when Mobley said she let go of her purse and he ran away. Journee chased after him. “She actually jumped up and chased him four houses down the block with me chasing her, calling her back,” her mom said during a news conference. A former Maryland police officer is dead after he was allegedly involved in a suspected murder-suicide. Maryland State Police identified Baltimore residents Robert Vicosa and Tia Bynum, on Thursday as two people found in a car Thursday afternoon that matched the description of the suspect vehicle involved in multiple felonies including child abduction and carjacking. Vicosa was an officer with the Baltimore County Police Department for 17 years, local station WGAL reported. He had reportedly been terminated in August after being demoted to an officer from a sergeant. Bynum had also reportedly worked for the department for 14 years. Two young children, who police believe are Vicosa's daughters, were in the car as well. Vicosa, Bynum and one of the girls were pronounced dead on the scene; the other young girl was taken by medevac to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, where she was pronounced dead. Earlier in the day, police had launched a manhunt for Vicosa and Bynum, who they said were armed with "at least one handgun and possibly several semiautomatic rifles." MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Arrest warrants for two people charged in a deadly shooting over the Halloween weekend indicate that the killing took place during a scheme by the suspects to rob the victim.
The warrants obtained by News13 do not reveal many details about their alleged plot to commit an armed robbery that led to the Oct. 30 death of Patrick Smith, 49, of Marshville, North Carolina. However, they do indicate that Smith was apparently trying to flee from the suspects when he was shot. Two suspects, Katerena Bedjan, 27, of Leland, North Carolina, and Leo Watkins, 17, of Surfside Beach, who also had a Henderson, North Carolina, address, each face murder and criminal-conspiracy charges. They both are being held without bond in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. According to an Horry County police report, officers called about 3 a.m. on Oct. 30 to Shore Drive in Myrtle Beach found Smith lying on the sidewalk injured. The report states that Smith was drunk but responsive and had a broken arm. It also said that he had been hit by a car. FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) – A Florence man is wanted in connection to a deadly shooting in Sumter, according to police.
A warrant for murder has been issued for Javonte Marquise Durant Hickson, 27, according to the Sumter Police Department. He is also wanted for the possession of a weapon during a violent crime for the shooting death of Tyrone Prince.
Another suspect, 26-year-old Tykem Hickson, of Rock Hill, has turned himself in. He has been charged with murder and for the possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Prince was killed at about 6 p.m. Nov. 5, according to authorities. He was found shot outside his home, and died while being taken to an area hospital. (Black) Alleged serial rapist faces 25 years to life in prison
BUFFALO (WBEN) - Erie County District Attorney John Flynn announced Tuesday that 21-year-old Daquawn Mike of Niagara Falls was arraigned Monday morning on a 14-count indictment for allegedly committing a series of violent attacks on three women where he forcibly raped the victims back in 2017.
Mike was arraigned on three counts of rape in the first degree, nine counts of predatory sexual assault, one count of criminal sexual act in the first degree, and one count of robbery in the first degree.
The defendant is currently pending prosecution following an arrest earlier this year after he was allegedly found in possession of an illegal firearm by Cheektowaga Police officers. Mike was arraigned before Cheektowaga Town Court on one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree on January 30, 2021, but was released on $7,500 bail. When he failed to show up for a felony hearing on February 3, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. US Marshals Service located in Buffalo area on April 8, and the defendant was taken into custody and held on a probation violation for a prior conviction in Niagara County. Prosecutors submitted the illegal weapon found in Mike's possession to the Erie Crime Analysis Center for testing. Forensic analysis linked the defendant to the illegal gun as well as three unsolved rape cases that occurred in the City of Buffalo. It is alleged that on February 6, 2017, a female victim was walking in the area of Scajaquada and Kilhoffer Streets when she was attacked by the defendant. Mike is accused of forcibly raping a female victim near Scajaquada and Kilhoffer Streets while pointing a gun at her head back on February 6, 2017. The victim reported the crime to police and underwent a rape kit at ECMC. In addition, it's alleged that on February 21, 2017, a second female victim was walking on Curtiss Street near Broadway when she was attacked by the defendant. The Mike is accused of dragging the victim to the side of a nearby garage where he forcibly raped her at knife-point. The victim reported the crime to police and underwent a rape kit at ECMC. It is further alleged that on July 3, 2017, a third female victim was walking on Wick Street when she was approached by the defendant who lured her to nearby area alongside train tracks. Mike allegedly pointed a gun at the victim’s head and forced her to engage in sexual conduct. The defendant is also accused of forcibly raping the victim at gunpoint. The victim reported the crime to police and underwent a rape kit at ECMC. All of the alleged crimes are believed to be random attacks as the defendant was not known to any of the victims. Mike is scheduled to return on both indictments on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. He continues to remain held without bail. If convicted of all charges, Mike faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison. |

CHILDRESS, Texas (KFDA) - A former Childress ISD teacher and coach has pleaded guilty for an improper relationship between educator and student.
According to the release, 26-year-old Dante Dwight Hibbert will be on deferred adjudication community supervision for 10 years for the second degree felony offense.
“The legislature made this offense a crime because we don’t want educators treating the school as a hunting ground to fulfill their sexual desires,” said the 100th District Attorney. The release states, Hibbert was arrested in Dallas on Nov. 17, 2020 by the Texas Rangers. The court documents states that during the investigation, multiple electronic devices were seized to search warrants that were obtained by the Texas Rangers. In addition to the devices, multiple third party sites where certain electronic data was stored had to be recovered from additional search warrants and subpoenas. Hibbert is required to pay a $2,000 fine to Childress County, $340 in court costs and to complete 300 hours of community service and prohibit from having contact with any of the victims. |

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Police are searching for a man wanted for failing to register as a sex offender with previous convictions.
Officials identified the man as 46-year-old Xavier Montrell Jefferson.

DPS finds $135,000 worth of drugs during traffic stop in Carson County 
CARSON COUNTY, Texas (KFDA) - Federal prosecutors filed a drug possession charge Tuesday against a woman they say was driving a car holding about $135,000 worth of meth.
A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) traffic stop in Carson County on I- 40 Monday resulted in a search that revealed the drugs.
The driver (a black woman named Mercedes Harris-Karto) told troopers a search K-9 would probably find marijuana, but it found the meth instead. The complaint says Mercedes Harris-Karto told DPS that was her first trip from New Jersey to California with drugs. |

Hispanic Clovis man faces multiple charges after 17-year-old dies from gunshot wound to head
CLOVIS, N.M. (KFDA) - A Clovis man is facing involuntary manslaughter after 17-year-old dies of a gunshot wound to the head on Tuesday evening.
According to officials, on November 3, 21-year-old Theodore Avalos turned himself in for questioning.
A warrant was obtained after the officilas interviewed Avalos and placed him under arrested for involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence, two counts of giving alcoholic beverages to a minor, and two counts of negligent use of a deadly weapon. On November 2, at around 8:02 p.m. Clovis police received two calls about a man who had sustained a gunshot wound to his head. The 17-year-old gunshot victim was transported to hospital where he later died from his injuries. The prosecutor emphasized the extreme pain the boy likely felt as Johnson shot him, too. “Pain, suffering, terror,” Terry said. “Those were the final moments in the all-too-short life of Ricky Willis.” Assistant Public Defender Jamie Kane did not deny that Ricky Willis suffered. As he spoke to the jury, he placed the boy’s school portrait on a TV monitor. “We don’t turn our backs to that image and that reality just because we’re asking for something different,” Kane said. But he emphasized Johnson’s expressions of remorse, and the pain his crimes had brought to his own family. A jury found Alexis Ramos-Rivera guilty of first-degree murder Tuesday for killing an Osceola County woman during a 2018 botched murder-for-hire plot.
The 12-person jury began their deliberations shortly before 2:30 p.m. and made a decision in about four-and-a-half hours.
Ramos-Rivera had no reaction as the verdict was read. He was also found guilty of kidnapping, carjacking and robbery by jurors. The family of 42-year-old Janice Zengotita-Torres held each other’s hands and wiped tears when they heard the verdict. Ramos-Rivera faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. Circuit Judge Keith Carsten set a sentencing hearing for Dec. 1 after hearing from three of the victim’s family members who asked for the maximum sentence. Carmen Hernández-Zengotita, the victim’s niece, said her family members have “deteriorated” since her aunt’s killing, with some suffering from anxiety and depression. Zengotita-Torres was an “exemplary human being” who left behind her son and husband, she said. “She was the light of our family,” she said. “Not a day goes by when I don’t miss her — when every inch of my soul does not miss her.” Prosecutors told jurors during closing arguments that Zengotita-Torres had been “terrorized” in the final hours of her life by Ramos-Rivera and two other kidnappers — even after they realized she wasn’t their target. Ramos-Rivera and his co-defendants, Glorianmarie Quiñones-Montes and Ishnar López-Ramos, are separately facing first-degree murder charges in the killing. Hispanic Man arrested in Osceola triple homicide investigation now faces murder charges 
The man previously described as a “person of interest” in Tuesday’s triple homicide at a Buenaventura Lakes apartment complex is now facing as many as 20 criminal charges, including three counts of first-degree murder, according to Osceola County jail records.
Kevin Christopher Torres, 41, also faces charges including grand theft auto, burglary, home invasion with a firearm, aggravated child abuse, kidnapping, destruction of evidence and abuse of a dead body.
The investigation began before 7 a.m. Tuesday, when Osceola deputy sheriffs responded to the complex on Gardner Lane and Royal Palm Drive and found two people shot to death in an apartment, then a third body inside another apartment, Sheriff Marcos López said. López said Torres was identified by a witness. Later, law enforcement in Orange County encountered Torres just before noon in a car López said had been stolen. After an hours-long standoff near Texas and South Rio Grande avenues, during which SWAT members attempted to talk him out of the vehicle, Torres fired at officers before being arrested about 2 p.m., López said. The Osceola sheriff didn’t say whether anyone fired back at Torres but said no one was injured in the gunfire. He was taken to the hospital with injuries the Sheriff’s Office described as “not related to his interaction with law enforcement.” The agency said it had no other suspects in the killings The Sheriff’s Office has not publicly identified any victims in the case, revealed how they were killed or indicated what the motive may have been. SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — An Iraqi refugee initially accused of committing a killing for the Islamic State terror group before coming to the U.S. is eligible to be deported because he lied on his immigration papers, a federal judge decided Tuesday.
Assistant Chief Immigration Judge Tara Naselow-Nahas ruled that Omar Abdulsattar Ameen lied when he was filling out his refugee application to gain entry into the United States. Among other things, she found he wasn't being truthful when he said he had never interacted with, knew or had involvement with various terrorist groups, including the Islamic State of Iraq. But she rejected other allegations, including that he provided support, engaged in terrorist activity, participated in harming another person, or misrepresented that he was a member of such a group. Naselow-Nahas found that Ameen interacted with a cousin “who is clearly a member of an armed terrorist group.” She also found the government proved that he lied when he said his father had been fatally shot and that his brother had been kidnapped. He should be deported to Iraq, or if not there to his last home of Turkey, the judge said, based on the government’s recommendation. Police said they expect the charges against a man accused of shooting another man following an argument last week to be amended after the victim died early Friday morning.
Gregory Moore, 62, was originally charged with attempted murder, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon in connection with the Nov. 5 incident.
The shooting took place on Buckner Street in the early afternoon, according to Maysville Police Chief Jared Muse, when Moore and Russell Chandler Jr., 34, also of Maysville, had some type of disagreement. “There was some type of dispute,” Muse said. That’s when Moore allegedly shot Chandler with a .45-caliber handgun, he said. Police were called to the scene by someone who reported that a man had been shot, Muse said. Upon arrival, they found the victim, who was taken to Meadowview Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to UC Hospital in Cincinnati. The bullet struck Chandler in the arm, traveled through his arm and into his abdomen, Muse said. Chandler has undergone several surgeries and was listed in critical condition before he died from his injuries Friday, he said. After investigating the incident, police arrested Moore and lodged him in the Mason County Detention Center where he remains under a $100,000 bond. Moore appeared in Mason District Court on Wednesday where he entered a not guilty plea to the original charges and a pretrial conference was set for Nov. 17. PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A security guard for the Christmas Village exhibit at Love Park in Center City Philadelphia has been charged with fatally shooting a man, police say.
Police announced Wednesday 43-year-old Gregory Thomas Sr. has been charged with murder and related offenses in the death of 29-year-old Ryan Groff from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday at 15th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard.
Police say Groff was walking around the park with a blue backpack about an hour before the shooting. According to police, the suspect was working security when he became involved in a "disturbance" with the 29-year-old victim. Action News spoke with the suspect's wife, Latasha Whitmore-Thomas. She says her husband was on the job when he and his partner tried removing Groff from a restricted area. "When the partner walked over to the guy and told him to move he said 'we could do this the easy way or the hard way.' The partner said that the guy said, 'I am going to do it the hard way,'" she said. According to what Gregory Thomas told his wife, the young man then became enraged. Whitmore-Thomas tells us, "That's when the guy picked up his bag or whatever it was, bat, brick, whatever, hit my husband in the face. His face shattered." A short time later, Thomas allegedly went to his personal vehicle, grabbed a gun, walked up to Groff, and shot him in the head, neck, and stomach. City officials made it clear that Thomas is not a city employee and worked for a private security firm hired by the Christmas Village. Authorities also say Thomas had previous run-ins with the law. "He is not authorized to have that gun, and he shouldn't have had it anyway because of his past history," said Mayor Jim Kenney. Meanwhile, Mrs. Thomas says she's having a hard time reconciling what happened on Tuesday night with the loving father of three she knows. "He has a kind heart," she said. "He is lovable. AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department has identified the man that died after a shooting Monday in Northeast Austin, and a suspect has been arrested.
The incident happened in the 12700 block of Harris Branch Parkway at around 1:49 p.m.
Police say a 9-1-1 call reported someone had been shot at a residence. APD officers and Travis County Sheriff Deputies got to the scene, and they began to help the victim, identified as 47-year-old Eric Wilkinson, who received life-saving measures, but later died at the scene. There was a possible suspect at the scene, identified as 34-year-old Darryl Brown, he was quickly detained by officers. The scene was processed and investigated by homicide investigators and crime scene technicians and witnesses were interviewed. Brown was charged with murder and booked into the Travis County Jail. RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police have arrested three people in connection to the quadruple shooting that happened on Nine Mile Road on Friday night.
Two boys, ages 9 and 14, were killed at O.M.G. convenience store at the intersection of Creighton Road and Nine Mile Road.
Two men were critically hurt during the shooting but are now in stable condition. Richmond Police Chief Gerald Smith said the department has made three arrests in the incident and the investigation is still ongoing. Out of the three arrests, two were 17-year-old juveniles. The other suspect arrested has been identified as 18-year-old Clintoine Baker. During a morning press conference on Tuesday, Richmond Police Chief Smith said the incident is not being labeled as gang-related at this time. Robert Jamison III, 40, of 472 Sullens St., is charged with murder in the fatal shooting of 41-year-old Lenard Lamonte Demore.
Demore died at a memorial event in the 300 block of Jamison Street on Oct. 16. “What’s really ironic about this case is the reason why everybody was at this residence is because there was a small 2-year-old child that had recently died from a shooting incident. The decomposing corpse of a domestic abuse victim who told neighbors she feared for her life was found alongside a dead man inside her Bronx apartment — in a likely murder-suicide — after her downstairs neighbor complained maggots were coming through the ceiling, police said Sunday.
Ashley Ducille confided in her building’s super as her life unraveled in the months before she was found dead. “She used to tell me, ‘Can you call me to see if I’m okay? Can you please call me? Can you please check up on me?’” Ernesto Garcia, the distraught superintendent of the building on Creston Ave. near E. 184th St. in Fordham Heights, told the Daily News. The tenant in the apartment below Ducille’s home alerted the super Saturday that maggots were dropping from the ceiling. She also told him she had heard two gunshots from the apartment above and a loud thud about 6:40 p.m. Nov. 6. Fearing the worst, Garcia called 911 about 5:45 p.m. Saturday. Before cops could even open the door to Ducille’s apartment they were overwhelmed by a foul stench. Inside the apartment, they found Ducille dead on the couch in the living room and a man’s body on the floor nearby. A gun was found next to the man, sources said. “The shock hasn’t hit me. It’s just crazy. It’s just devastation,” Ducille’s father, Anthony Ducille, said Sunday. “She was a good mother. She loved her children.” Both bodies were so decomposed they were unrecognizable, sources said, but cops have informed Ducille’s family she is the female victim. The dead man is suspected to be her abusive boyfriend, police told her relatives. “That guy was a pimp,” Ducille’s stepbrother Joseph Donald told The News. “I don’t even know the guy.” The city medical examiner will conduct an autopsy on each victim to determine their causes of death. Ducille kicked the father of her children out of the apartment after she caught him smoking crack, the super said. But she went on to hook up with the abusive boyfriend. The super said Ducille would routinely ask him to change her locks out of fear of the boyfriend. “I would have to change the cylinder in the door constantly,” Garcia said. “Every two weeks, changing the lock. She used to get mad at her boyfriend and used to take the keys away from him.” But that did little to keep the boyfriend away — he would climb the fire escape to her window or stand outside her apartment door waiting for her to come or go, Garcia said. “That guy — he would not move from there until she opened the door,” he said. “I was seeing it in the (security) camera.” Ducille, a mother of four, lived in the apartment for about three years and turned to sex work, the super said. But her life was full of potential, her stepbrother, Joseph Donald, told The News. CHICAGO - A man was charged Monday night with stabbing a CTA employee and striking a Chicago police officer Sunday in the Loop.
Albert Burage, 39, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery of a peace officer and aggravated battery of a transit employee, all felonies, police said.
Police said Burage stabbed a 44-year-old CTA worker Sunday evening at the Blue Line Jackson/Dearborn station platform. A Chicago police officer who responded to the chaos was also hospitalized after being attacked. The police officer will be OK. The CTA employee is recovering at home after suffereing stab wounds to the head, arm and back. The union representing the CTA employee says these types of assaults are happening too much. "I’ve asked the President of CTA that we need to bring back our own policing to the CTA, to be able to deter some of this crime that's happening. I just feel for my members because they have to come to work and deal with this on a daily basis. HOUMA, La. (WVUE/Gray News) - Police are asking for the public’s help locating a woman wanted for biting a large portion of an officer’s ear completely off.
According to the Houma Police Department, several women were fighting in the parking lot of Joni B’s Bar just after midnight Friday.
During the altercation, Michelle Smith, 36, allegedly bit an officer, tearing “a large portion of the right ear completely off,” police said. She fled the scene before she could be arrested. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — This week, a teenager was convicted of raping a pregnant woman in an attempted robbery.
In September 2018, police say Dantis Lakka-Lako attacked a pregnant woman in her apartment on Bell Road. He was 16 years old at the time of the crime.
Police said when the woman arrived home, she heard noises while in her bedroom, but dismissed them, thinking they were coming from outside. Shortly after, Lakka-Lako entered her bedroom armed with a knife from her kitchen. He allegedly demanded money and told her not to run, and then took the belongings in her purse and raped her. The woman managed to hit him in the head with a bottle, causing Lakka-Lako to leave the room. Then, she jumped from her third-floor apartment to escape. She was seriously injured from the fall, however, both she and her unborn baby survived. Lead Prosecutor General Doug Thurman called the victim "one of the bravest people [he has] ever met." More than three years later, Lakka-Lako, who is now 19 years old, was convicted on five felony counts and one misdemeanor, including especially aggravated robbery and aggravated rape. Roseburg police were called to a disturbance Saturday night where a man had reportedly attacked two women, including biting one of the woman’s ear lobes off.
A woman called Douglas County Emergency Communications to report that a man in the home had grown violent around 9 p.m., throwing objects and threatening herself and another woman in a home on West Elaine Avenue in Roseburg, according to a court document.
Officers arrived to see a man walking away from the residence and later identified him as Tevin Dwayne Shaw, 27, of Roseburg. Shaw reportedly began walking toward one of the officers, telling the officer to shoot him, the court document said. Shaw was taken into custody and told officers that he and one of the women had been arguing all day and as the argument escalated, she had attempted to headbutt Shaw, at which point he said he bit her on the ear, and that he has a tendency to “get heated when people put their two cents” in his business, the document said. One of the victims told police that Shaw was agitated when he woke up from a nap and was acting erratically. When another woman — who told officers she was eight weeks pregnant — walked into the room to see what the problem was, she reported that Shaw had punched her in the stomach. Shaw then reportedly forced the second woman against a wall and punched a hole in the wall just inches from her head, the document said. Shaw then reportedly turned his attention to the first woman, clutching her from behind and biting off a portion of her ear lobe, which was ultimately located in the kitchen area of the home. Shaw was lodged in the Douglas County Jail on charges of second-degree assault, menacing and unlawful use of a weapon due to threatening one of the women with a knife. Police say Lee pulled his girlfriend to the ground by her hair, pinned her down, kicked her in the stomach and slammed her head on the ground multiple times. The parent of a Connally ISD student has been arrested and booked into the McLennan County jail following an investigation into a disturbance at Connally High School that occurred November 2.
Shaniquia L. Davis was booked into the jail Tuesday on warrants for felony assault on a public servant, assault causes bodily injury and terroristic threat.
She remained in the jail Wednesday with bond set at $8,000. An arrest affidavit filed in support of the warrants stated that on November 2, Connally ISD police responded to a physical disturbance call involving multiple students, parents, and multiple school administrators. During the disturbance, the affidavit states Davis entered the mid-part of the school commons area without permission and was roaming the second hallway. The document says Davis was looking to confront a student who had allegedly been involved in an altercation with her child during school hours and while on the high school campus. The affidavit states Davis found the student in the second hallway, walking with an administrator. The officer responding stated he observed Davis grab the student’s hair and begin to strike the right side of his face with her closed fist, with the affidavit stating the incident was captured on surveillance video. During the disturbance, a coach was spotted on the floor bear hugging a student he said was an aggressor in the disturbance. The officer says a woman identified as Davis grabbed the coach with both hands, pulling up on his neck, causing him to release the student. The affidavit states that during the disturbance, the woman was heard by the school principal threatening to blow the school up and to get her family from Dallas and Louisiana and shoot it up. NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police arrested a man accused of threatening to kill women before stealing their MetroCards in MTA subway stations, the NYPD announced this weekend.
David Gooden, 46, of Brooklyn, was cuffed after allegedly robbing three women earlier this month at stations in Manhattan’s Financial District.
In each incident, Gooden allegedly grabbed the women on subway station mezzanines and demanded their MetroCards as he informed them they were under the threat of being killed, police said. Gooden allegedly struck first on Wednesday, Nov. 4, around 10:15 a.m. at the Whitehall St station of the N/R trains. Police released surveillance video allegedly showing Gooden grabbing the woman as she approached the station turnstile. Gooden allegedly returned to the station the next day to threaten a woman around 6:32 a.m., according to police. CHICAGO - Chicago police are seeking a man wanted in connection with sexually assaulting a woman in the lobby of a Loop building.
A 37-year-old woman was waiting for an Uber about 11:20 p.m. in the lobby of a building in the 100 block of South Wacker Drive, according to Chicago police.
Police say a Black male entered the lobby, wrapped his arms around her in a "bear hug" and lifted her off the ground. The suspect allegedly rubbed the woman's "vaginal area", over her clothing, according to a police report. The man fled when another person entered the lobby, police said. Bradley S. Yohn, 34, of Springfield and Karen D. Blackledge, 32, of Quincy were in custody Friday related to the death. They face charges of vehicular hijacking, burglary and sexual assault in connection with an apparently unrelated incident in Adams County. According to WGEM in Quincy, Adams County Sheriff’s Department was called about 6 p.m. Tuesday to a burglary in rural Adams County. Authorities said a homeowner told deputies she was the victim of a hijacking in Quincy and was forced to return to her home, where she was robbed and sexually assaulted. Authorities said the vehicle used during the hijacking had been reported stolen Tuesday from a Quincy business. Yohn and Blackledge eluded police Tuesday in Quincy and Hannibal, Missouri, but were found in Springfield around 2 p.m. Wednesday by the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Apprehension Unit. Yohn has been charged with two counts of home invasion, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated vehicular hijacking, residential burglary and aggravated criminal sexual assault. Police arrest Hispanic man with MEXICAN name on suspicion of August shooting 
SAN JOSE — Police have arrested a man who shot a fleeing man in the back as part of an alleged ambush in East San Jose in August, authorities said.
The shooting was reported at about 2:20 p.m. Aug. 30 in the 1200 block of Sundown Lane, according to San Jose police.
Police say detectives determined that four males in a car drove up to the victim, and one of the people in the car punched the victim in the face, and then the group chased him. A member of the attacking group then pulled out a gun and shot at the victim who was running away, hitting him in the back. The group then fled in their car, and the injured man was taken to a hospital where he was treated for his injuries and is expected to survive. An ensuing investigation identified 28-year-old San Jose resident Edwin Amezcua as the shooting suspect, and on Nov. 11 officers arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder. During Amezcua’s arrest, police also arrested two San Jose residents ages 19 and 18 on unrelated drug and weapon possession charges. Amezcua is being held without bail in the Santa Clara County Main Jail, according to jail records. Police have not formally disclosed a motive for the shooting, but stated that the police department’s Gang Investigations Unit is assigned to the case. Authorities in Houston are trying to locate a 25-year-old man wanted for allegedly killing his pregnant girlfriend, PEOPLE confirms.
An arrest warrant has been issued in Texas for Kwanmaine Travion Boyd, who allegedly shot Cavanna Smith, 25, on the morning of Oct. 6.
According to police, Boyd stands 6 feet 2 inches tall, and weighs about 165 lbs. Boyd also has brown eyes and black hair. Citing the arrest warrant, KPRC-TV reports that investigators allege Boyd abducted Smith on Oct. 6, and that the pregnant woman managed to text her sister while being held captive. In the harrowing texts, according to KPRC-TV, Smith — who allegedly informed Boyd she was pregnant on Oct. 3 — tells her sister she has been kidnapped, and that she is stuck in the back of her boyfriend's truck. Smith last texted her sister at 6:44 a.m. that morning, reports KHOU, which also obtained a copy of the arrest warrant. A minute later, Smith's sister called the victim's phone, which went straight to voicemail. There were at least three witnesses to the killing who recalled seeing Brown tumble to the ground after being shot, the warrant states. Boyd, the witnesses told authorities, allegedly fled the scene in a white truck. First responders arrived to find Smith dead in the street about three miles from her home. Police located Boyd's truck earlier this month — parked in the driveway of an abandoned home. KPRC-TV reports that detectives recovered a greeting card from Boyd's home, in which Smith wrote, "Kwan, I know this isn't what we expected but WE ARE expecting!" Two Arkansas men have confessed to raping a six-year-old girl after a hospital found she was suffering from multiple sexually transmitted diseases.
Demarcus George, 27, and Mario Waters, 33, admitted during a federal court hearing in Little Rock last week that they’d had sexual contact with the little girl and were involved in sex trafficking her, prosecutors said.
The two men pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of the girl in a plea deal that will cancel their upcoming jury trial and spare the six-year-old from having to testify. Authorities narrowed in on George and Waters after the girl was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in February 2018 suffering from symptoms doctors later determined were caused by the STIs. The girl later told FBI investigators that George and Waters had raped her in a hotel room, prosecutors said. Blood and urine samples for the two men showed they had both tested positive for the STIs that little girl had contracted. Meanwhile, investigators also located the hotel in Little Rock where the offenses occurred based on descriptions provided by the victim, including that a curtain was in the middle of the room and a specific picture was hanging on the wall. The hotel’s financial records showed the girl’s mother, who has since lost custody of the child, had paid for a room with a credit card in March 2018. “The unspeakable crimes committed against this child remind us how vitally important it is to have law enforcement officers willing to investigate and put a stop to these horrific actions,” acting US Attorney Jonathan D. A Bronx man who was arrested Sunday for allegedly attacking an NYPD police officer has been released without bail – despite having once been charged with the attempted murder of another police officer more than a decade ago.
Isus Thompson, 38, attacked the officer just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the vicinity of Valentine Avenue and E 194 Street, according to a criminal complaint obtained by Fox News.
He randomly struck Officer Kyo Sun Lee, 30, in the head with a black backpack holding a DVD player, adult videos and a small metal safe, according to a criminal complaint and police sources. The officer’s partner also found Thompson in possession of a black metal box-cutter, according to sources. The officer suffered swelling and "substantial pain" to his right ear and the right side of his head and was treated at a local Bronx hospital, according to the complaint. He said he experienced "annoyance, alarm and fear for his physical safety." The officer attempted to arrest the suspect, but he flailed around, twisted his body, and refused to be handcuffed, the complaint says. Thompson was charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, harassment, and misdemeanor possession of a weapon, among other charges. Court records show that Judge Audrey Stone released Thompson without bail. Thompson was involved in another altercation with police in 2008, according to criminal records. Sources familiar with the matter told Fox News that officers responded to a 911 call of Thompson smoking marijuana in a park in Queens. When they tried to ask for his identification, Thompson allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the arresting officer. Court records seen by Fox News say that Thompson was convicted of attempted murder in the second degree and sentenced to five years for attacking the officer. He was paroled in 2012. MILLINGTON, Tenn. (WMC) - Millington Police responded to a shooting at the Margaritas restaurant on November 12.
According to the police, an irate customer was removed from the restaurant prior to the shooting and another customer assisted management in removing them.
The suspect came back 20 minutes later and shot 55-year-old Timothy Carver several times. Carver died on the scene from his wounds. Alton Spann is charged with first degree murder, robbery and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in 24-year-old Zheng’s death.
Zheng, who received a masters degree in statistics from the U of C – was shot during a robbery at 54th Place and Ellis Avenue on Tuesday afternoon just before 2 p.m. CBS 2’s Asal Rezaei has learned that although the suspect is only 18 years old, he has already had many run-ins with the law. In court prosecutors hilighted Spann’s long juvenile history, asking that he remain in custody with no bail. Prosecutors detailed his lengthy juvenile background, including 2019 charges of robbery and violation of probation. At the time of his arrest Tuesday, Spann was on parole for aggravated vehicular hijacking and armed robbery. He had the keys of the Mustang and two weapons, one of which matched the one used to kill the U of C student. Prosecutors say on Tuesday afternoon Dennis Shaoxiong Zheng was walking near campus when Spann and another suspect pulled up in a stolen black Mustang. They say Spann shot Zheng in the chest, stole his belongings and got away. ATLANTA - An ambulance driver who was involved in a crash that killed the patient he was transporting may have been under the influence at the time, the Georgia State Patrol said.
Kevin T. McCorvey, 34, was charged with DUI combination less safe, homicide by vehicle second degree, failure to maintain lane, and possession of an open container.
The Fairburn Police Department said officers were called out to the scene located along West Campbellton Road near Golightly Street around 7 p.m. after a report of a single-vehicle crash. Police said officers found a 2007 Ford Econoline Prime Care EMS ambulance overturned in a ditch and the patient who was being transported in a non-emergency capacity dead at the scene. Police asked the Georgia State Patrol to handle the investigation into the deadly crash. Troopers said McCorvey was driving south on West Campbellton Street when he hit the shoulder, causing the ambulance to overturn. The patient, later identified by troopers as 66-year-old Wilton Thomason, was not restrained at the time and died from the injuries received in the crash. ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- An inmate has been charged for beating a correctional officer at the St. Louis County jail on Wednesday morning, according to county officials.
The correctional officer, identified by family as Chrissy Nieto, 29, was in pod 4B in a security station monitoring inmates Wednesday around 10 a.m. St. Louis County officials said one inmate, Carnell Robinson, was on the phone and wouldn't comply with Nieto's orders. He then charged at Nieto, hitting her multiple times in the face and head with a closed fist. Robinson, 19, was charged with first-degree assault on Friday. He could face 10 to 30 years in prison if convicted. According to Scott Anders, acting director of the Department of Justice Services, Nieto was able to hit a panic button, signaling a need for backup from other officers. Anders estimates she was attacked for just under 60 seconds before a nearby lieutenant arrived. According to charging documents, Robinson kept hitting the officer until another person intervened. TULSA, Okla. (KFOR) – A fight in a Tulsa Walmart parking lot left one man dead and another man facing a murder charge.
Terry Limose was taken into custody by Tulsa police early Saturday morning after police began investigating a fight that caused a man’s death, according to Tulsa police.
Officers were called at 4:05 a.m. to the Walmart at 8100 S. Lewis, regarding a body in the store’s parking lot. “We learned the victim had been in a fight with another man and died from injuries sustained in the fight,” Tulsa police said on social media. Several officers scoured the scene and located Limose a short distance away. Witnesses told police he was responsible for attacking the victim, according to officials. The suspect was transported to a hospital where he was treated for a laceration to his forehead. He was then taken to the Tulsa Police Department’s Detective Division for questioning. Limose is being booked with an FBI hold for alleged murder in Indian Country, since the victim is Native American. The victim’s name was not released. |

HAMMOND — A man was arrested in Springfield in the homicide of a Wheeling, Illinois, woman days before the discovery of her missing 1-year-old daughter in a Hammond pond.
Ahmeel Fowler, 26, of Pinegree Grove, Illinois, was arrested Tuesday, according to a report from NBC Chicago 5. Fowler has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of the toddler's mother, Ja’nya Murphy, and additional charges are expected to come. His identity was not initially released.
Earlier in the investigation, police had identified Fowler as a person of interest, stating that he had a previous relationship with Murphy but was not the father of the 1-year-old girl. WILLMAR — New charges have been filed against one of the men accused of raping and cutting a woman this July in Willmar.
Authorities last week added two felony first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges and two misdemeanor theft charges for Davion Elijha Powell, 19, of Racine, Wisconsin, according to an amended criminal complaint.
Powell was already charged with two felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and a felony charge of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon related to the incident. The criminal sexual conduct charges allege penetration, injury, use of force, being armed, causing fear of great bodily harm and acting with an accomplice. The new charges filed in Kandiyohi County District Court allege that Powell held a shotgun over his shoulder after the woman was not compliant and that he attempted to sell AirPods he stole from the woman. (CNN)Five inmates, including two accused of murder, escaped from a south Georgia jail on Friday night and remain at large Sunday, according the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
The GBI issued a Blue Alert after the five escaped from the Pulaski County Jail shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday and stole a white 2015 KIA Sedona van from the parking lot. The van's Georgia license plate reads CMP8628.
The inmates were identified as Tyree Williams Jr., Dennis Penix Jr., Brandon Pooler, Tyres Jackson and Lewis Evans III, according to the GBI. MILTON, WV (WOWK) – Following a high-speed police pursuit in Milton, West Virginia on Friday, five men have been arrested.
Jontazz Robinson, Derrick Ellis, Jafay Moore, Tynique Smallwood, and Leontay Robinson were reported traveling at speeds above 100 miles per hour along I-64 in Milton.
The vehicle pursuit lasted approximately five minutes until the vehicle traveled onto the East Mall exit and pulled off onto a grassy area. West Virginia State Police, Cabell County Sheriff’s Office, and the Barboursville Police Department assisted in a short manhunt leading to their arrest. Upon their arrest, Milton police officers found them in possession of illegal drugs and stolen firearms. Items found were bundles of heroin, suspected crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, AK-47 which was modified, two Glock handguns, and a Springfield handgun. Police say officers learned that the child was in the care of 25-year-old Alexander Talley at the time of the assault. That’s where he was eventually taken into custody. “We’re dealing with very significant charges here. Multiple felonies, which carry with it, extensive jail time if there is a conviction,” Chief Wagner said. CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) - Police have arrested the suspect accused of an assault in the parking lot of Anytime Fitness on Dover Road last week after receiving a tip through Crime Stoppers.
Police received a tip through Montgomery County Crime Stoppers after police released a photo of the suspect. The suspect was identified as Galen Blackmon, 41. Detectives confirmed with family members that it was Blackmon in the pictures.

A man has been charged with 18 felonies in an Inglewood rape case and he may be tied to other crimes dating back to 2007, police announced Thursday.
Andrew James Hyde, 34, is facing multiple counts each of rape by force, false imprisonment and sodomy without consent, according to a news release from the Inglewood Police Department.

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — A 32-year-old woman was arrested after assaulting a Southwest Airlines flight attendant Saturday, Dallas police said.
At approximately 12:40 p.m. Nov. 13, officials say Arielle Jean Jackson boarded Flight 4976 with scheduled service from Dallas Love Field to La Guardia.
Upon boarding the plane, Jackson reportedly “went straight to the back” where she had a verbal altercation with a flight attendant who instructed her to leave the plane. Officials said Jackson then went to the front of the plane where she had verbal altercation with another flight attendant before hitting her with “a closed fist to the head.” Jackson was shortly arrested for aggravated assault and taken into custody at the Dallas County Jail. MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Mobile police arrested a man Friday, Nov.12 for the alleged shooting death of a 74-year-old man.
Mobile Police said on Tuesday, June 29, at about 11:22 p.m., DeAngelo Demetrius Merrill forced his way into James Jones’ apartment at 2602 South Florida St. and shot him.
The U.S. Marshals Task Force along with the Tactical Intelligence Unit, K9 Unit and ALEA Aviation Unit found Deangelo Merrill and took him into custody Friday morning. Merrill is charged with murder. MISSOULA — Kemari Parks has been charged after a high-speed chase through Missoula that ended in a crash that killed his passenger.
Parks, 20 years old, faces charges of vehicular homicide while under the influence, criminal endangerment, and fleeing from a police officer for the October 20 crash.
Court documents state a police officer noticed a vehicle traveling at least 60 miles per hour on West Broadway and tried to pull the vehicle over. Prosecutors say the car continued driving fast, eventually reaching South Fifth Street West near Higgins Avenue and crashing. The driver, later identified as Parks, ran away but was later apprehended. His 17-year-old passenger, whose name has not been released, died the next morning from injuries sustained in the crash. |

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A Stafford County high school teacher is in custody and facing charges in Fredericksburg following an investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a minor.
Marcus "Sambo" Salley, 33, of Fredericksburg has been charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a child and solicitation to possess child pornography. He is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
Police say the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office was tipped off that a high school teacher, later identified as Salley, was having "relations" with a minor. A school resource officer investigated and found that Salley was having an online relationship with a juvenile who lives in another state. The case was turned over to the Fredericksburg Police Department after the investigation found Salley’s actions took place in Fredericksburg. |

The sheriff’s office said it was contacted by the father of the girl in May of 2021. He told law enforcement that his daughter was befriended by a man through social media. The man then used the girl to recruit other underaged victims through social media. The suspect was identified by detectives as Shiran Nathaniel, 48, of Sioux City, Iowa. The sheriff’s office said he used the internet at his job and home to solicit minors. A warrant to search his home was executed last month and found Nathaniel was in possession of child pornography. Nathaniel has been charged with indecent liberties with a child, two counts of production of child pornography, and two counts of use of a communication system to facilitate offenses involving children. SHREVEPORT, La. -- A convicted felon who had guns in his possession while leading officers on a high speed chase last year was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison.
U.S. District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote handed down the sentence for Ronnie G. Reddix, 32, of Shreveport, who was was convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm.
Reddix's arrest on Dec. 12 was the result of what first started out as a drug arrest. Officers saw him and another person rolling a marijuana cigar in a vehicle and tried to stop him. Reddix led officers on a 10-minute pursuit. When he finally stopped, Reddix got out of the car and a firearm fell from his lap. He ran but was caught after a brief chase. A second firearm was found on the ground along the area where he ran. Reddix ultimately admitted to possessing both guns, which were loaded. He has a long history of previous felony convictions, which prohibited him from having firearms in his possession. His convictions include simple burglary in 2018, possession with intent to distribute narcotics and two counts of simple burglary in 2017, simple burglary, illegal use of a weapon and possession of a Schedule IV narcotic in 2014, domestic abuse battery in 2011 and illegal use of a weapon from a motor vehicle in 2009. Accused Central Park rapist Paulie Velez was sent to jail without bail Saturday as a prosecutor contended he had previously fled criminal charges in the Sunshine State.
Jacqueline Studley, the assistant district attorney, said Velez, 25, has a felony assault conviction in Florida.
“The defendant stated he cut off his ankle monitor and fled,” Studley said. Velez, who was wearing a purple dress shirt and blue slacks, swayed back and forth in front of the Manhattan Criminal Court judge and inaudibly mumbled at times. He was arrested early Saturday and charged in the rape of a 27-year-old woman who was out for a jog in Central Park Thursday morning. The Portland Police Bureau reports that the mother of Gustavo Enrique Villalobos Carranza’s child contacted police on October 31st to report that he had allegedly kidnapped their two-year-old daughter and was allegedly threatening to harm her. Carranza was tracked to the city of Vancouver where their police department responded in the hopes of finding two-year-old Brianna Villalobos Rodriguez safe. The Vancouver Police Department began working the case just after midnight and apparently could not locate Carranza or his child. They issued a “be on the lookout,” (BOLO), for Carranza, Rodriguez, and his vehicle, described as a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander. At some point during their investigation and attempts to locate the pair, they were able to make contact with Carranza and take him into custody just after 4 am in the area of Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard and 57th Avenue in their city. Sadly, Rodriguez was also located – deceased. Police initially believed that Rodriguez was murdered in the city of Gresham, however, they were able to determine somehow that Carranza allegedly murdered her in Portland. Police have not released any details as to Rodriguez’s cause of death as of yet. The Vancouver Police Department took Carranza into custody for various charges, including first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, and unlawful use of a weapon. Carranza was eventually turned over to the Multnomah County Jail and is currently being held on a $505,000 bond. Federal authorities with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement have verified that Carranza is in the United States illegally. They will be requesting that a detainer be placed on him if he were somehow able to bond out before his trial. However, since Multnomah County considers itself as a ‘Sanctuary County,” the likelihood of them cooperating with ICE is extremely unlikely. |

Missing Oakland Park Man Jaytwan McNeal Was Murdered by HISPANIC BROTHER & SISTER 
OAKLAND PARK (CBSMiami) – The Broward Sheriff’s Office now says someone murdered 23-year old Jaytwan McNeal, who disappeared in September.
In October, Palm Beach County detectives received information saying McNeal met up with a friend.
Detectives say that friend’s brother shot and killed McNeal. The siblings then reportedly put his body in a dumpster. Those siblings, Luis and Sophia Valdez, are now charged with murder. |

Isabella Kalua’s older sister told police how the 6-year-old was abused and died.
The 6-year-old girl allegedly murdered by her adoptive parents in Hawaii was starved and kept in a cage with duct tape over her mouth and nose, her older sister told investigators. The horrifying details were contained in arrest affidavits for Lehua Kalua, 43, and her husband, Isaac K. Kalua III, 52, who reported Isabella missing on Sept. 13, triggering a massive search. The couple said she had vanished the previous night, but investigators eventually determined that the girl actually had not been seen since mid-August. No body has been found. Isabella’s 12-year-old sister told investigators earlier this month that the Kaluas withheld food from the younger girl and then made her sleep in a dog cage so she could not forage for food at night. Two months ago, the sister said, the parents woke her up in the middle of the night after Isabella was found unresponsive in the cage. “She went into the bathroom and saw that [Isabella] had duct tape on her nose and mouth, and was not breathing,” the affidavit says. “Lehua then filled the bathtub with water and put [Isabella] into it to see if she would wake up, but it did not work.” The older sister then had to carry Isabella’s body into the bedroom and “she was asked to keep a secret by Lehua and Isaac regarding what happened,” the affidavit said. Police said they believe Myles, who is being charged as an adult with first-degree murder, is actively trying to avoid capture. Melanie Yates, 23, died on Monday after she suffered a "gunshot wound to the head" the night before, according to a GoFundMe set up by the family, who called it the "most devastating news." According to local news outlet WLS-TV, the incident happened in Zion, Illinois, and police found Yates with the gunshot wound inside her home and she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Authorities are still searching for the shooter or shooters, and they believe she was not the intended target, the outlet added. A spokesperson for the Zion Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment. Yates is survived by husband David and two young daughters. (Black) Man in custody after reportedly shooting ex-girlfriend, another man in north Phoenix
PHOENIX — Police say a man is in custody after his ex-girlfriend and another man were found dead at a north Phoenix home Monday morning.
Officers were called to an apartment complex near Cave Creek and Beardsley roads around 7 a.m.
Police learned a man, identified as 27-year-old Steven Love-Mason, showed up at 28-year-old Trystan Benallie's home, with whom he was previously in a relationship. Love-Mason reportedly asked a neighbor to knock on the door and when it opened, he forced his way into the home. He then shot at Benallie and another man, identified as 23-year-old Martin Louis, who were both later pronounced dead, police say. Love-Mason then fled the area and was later located by police in Tempe. He was taken into custody without incident. Calvin Purdie Jr. is facing what could be a de facto life prison sentence after a Dauphin County jury on Friday night convicted him of third-degree murder for the May 2019 slaying of a Hershey-area woman who was strangled and set on fire.
Members of the family of victim Charlotte Chaplin were tearful, yet relieved at the verdict, which the jury rendered after 4 ½ hours of deliberation. “It’s been a real weight on our family,” said Chaplin’s son Kenneth Martin. The jurors also convicted Purdie, 35, of Harrisburg, of three counts of arson. They acquitted him of the most serious charge he faced, first-degree murder. District Attorney Fran Chardo and co-counsel Kelly Callihan contended during the four-day trial that Purdie killed the 49-year-old Chaplin in the bedroom of her West Chocolate Avenue home early on May 23, 2019. The prosecutors said he then set the room on fire to try to destroy evidence. Evidence Chardo and Callihan said tied Purdie to the killing included his DNA that was found under Chaplin’s fingernails and scratches on his body that the prosecutors insisted were made by Chaplin as she fought for her life. Purdie, the boyfriend of Chaplin’s daughter, was staying overnight in Chaplin’s house at the time of the slaying. First Assistant Public Defender Paul Muller and Public Defender Elizabeth Ruby argued that a stalker or perhaps one of several of Chaplin’s former lovers committed the murder. This was Purdie’s second trial for Chaplin’s slaying. The jury for his first trial in April was unable to reach a verdict after deliberating for seven hours. Judge William T. SALISBURY — A 33-year-old man was jailed Tuesday on a series of drug and gun charges after allegedly trying to flee a Rowan Sheriff’s Office traffic stop.
Donnell Deangelo Adkins faces charges for trafficking schedule two drugs, possessing with intent to distribute schedule six drugs, possessing drug paraphernalia, having a stolen firearm, being in possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and resisting arrest. The charges occurred because the Rowan Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit conducted a traffic stop for an unnamed motor vehicle violation. Adkins allegedly was operating the vehicle without a license and a K-9 officer alerted the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A news release said Adkins attempted to flee the scene after he was asked to step out of the vehicle. He was “assisted to the ground” and placed in handcuffs, the Rowan Sheriff’s Office said. A 40-caliber pistol determined to be stolen was found during a pat-down search. In the vehicle, 285 grams of marijuana were found in the trunk. A news release said Adkins also was found in possession of 5 grams of oxycodone. |

A woman is wanted by police for allegedly whacking an on-duty NYPD officer in the head with a shoe at a Queens restaurant, authorities said.
The attack took place after the officer responded to Chubby Burgers & Chicken in Astoria for some sort of disturbance among a “disorderly crowd” inside the location at about 3 a.m. Sunday, according to cops.
Surveillance footage provided by the NYPD captured the attack on the officer.
The officer suffered pain and bruising to his forehead. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition. The woman fled the scene after the assault.

Isaiah Hudson, 24, was arrested Tuesday and charged with killing 39-year-old Anthony Monden, Chicago police said. On Sept. 1, Monden and Hudson were talking when Hudson pulled a gun and shot Monden in the head around 10:35 p.m. in the 400 block of South Kostner Avenue, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition and died on Tuesday, according to police. Hudson was charged with one count each of first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and armed habitual criminal issuance of a warrant, police said. He was expected to appear in bond court Thursday. |

APPLETON - The teenager arrested after a deadly shooting at the Fox River Mall has been convicted of a homicide charge.
Dezman Ellis, 18, of Oshkosh, pleaded no contest to two felony charges, second-degree intentional homicide and first-degree recklessly endangering safety, at a hearing Wednesday afternoon in Outagamie County.
Ellis was charged in connection with the death of Jovanni Frausto, a 19-year-old from Neenah who Ellis has now admitted he shot and killed Jan. 31 at the Fox River Mall. The incident forced crowds of people to shelter in place inside the mall. Ellis could be sentenced to a maximum of 60 years in prison on the homicide charge, plus a maximum of 12½ years on the endangering safety charge. He will be sentenced Feb. 1. Ellis had been charged with first-degree intentional homicide, which carries a mandatory life sentence, but that charge was amended by prosecutors before Ellis entered his plea. He had been scheduled to stand trial in December. Frausto's mother, Tanya Lopez, spoke in court before Ellis entered his plea. "By not having a trial, I don’t think my son is getting justice," she said. Lopez told Outagamie County Judge Mark McGinnis she didn't believe Ellis was remorseful for his actions. "I don’t think he should ever get out, ever," she said. "My son can never come back, now, can he?" Police responded to multiple reports of shots being fired near the food court inside the mall shortly after 3:30 p.m. Jan. 31. Some shoppers fled. Others found places to hide. The incident happened after Ellis and Frausto — who were both at the mall, but with separate groups of friends — began to "exchange words," apparently about a girl in Ellis' group who used to talk to Frausto, according to a criminal complaint. Ellis told Frausto, "I will shoot this place up, I will kill you," then displayed a gun before opening fire at Frausto, the complaint says. Then, Ellis fled the mall. A bystander wounded by one of Ellis' shots told investigators he had been talking to a friend when he heard a voice say "drop the gun." He then heard a shot and felt something hit him in the hip, the complaint says. Police found two spent shell casings at the scene, the complaint says. GARDEN GROVE, California—Disturbing video footage was recently posted of a vicious assault during a Women’s Youth basketball game in California. The footage shows an African-American female sucker-punching an Asian female after being instructed by her mother to do so.
The incident took place at the Map Sports Facility. It was the final game of the fall Jamboree tournament featuring the SoCal Blaze against the Dream Academy. COVINGTON - An 18-year-old, who reportedly found his victims through social media, was charged for the third time for raping a juvenile.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office said Ryheim Ross was arrested Nov. 3 for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
The sheriff's office said the investigation into Ross began in Nov. 2020, when an 11-year-old girl was sexually assaulted. In Feb. 2021, Ross was arrested for first-degree rape of a victim under 13 years of age. Deputies said they learned of two other victims, aged 12 and 13. In March 2021, Ross was rebooked on one count of first-degree rape of a victim under 13 years of age and one count of first-degree rape. Deputies also spoke to Ross's live-in girlfriend, and he was booked for domestic abuse battery for injuries he caused her. According to arrest documents, Ross preyed on the victims through mutual acquaintances and Snapchat. Deputies believe there may be more victims out there. "It is utterly appalling that this suspect preyed on young children using Snapchat and mutual acquaintances! When this happens in our community, those committing such heinous acts will be apprehended and charged accordingly," Sheriff Smith said. “Please be vigilant and if you have young children using social media, carefully monitor their content to protect them from being victimized." A South Carolina man was sentenced to 28 years in prison Tuesday after he fled from a burning car and left his 19-month-old daughter to die in the blaze in order to escape a police chase, according to a news release from the Spartanburg County Solicitor's Office.
State troopers tried to stop Imhotep O. Norman, 28, in April 2019 for speeding, the release said. Norman drove over a median and onto Interstate 85 with flames and heavy smoke spewing from his car, the release said. After troopers forced him to the right lane of the road, Norman jumped out of the burning vehicle and left his daughter, Xena R. Norman, in her car seat, the release said. Norman later told investigators he thought law enforcement officials would rescue her, according to the release. Norman's daughter died due to acute carbon monoxide poisoning and thermal burns, the release said. Norman told the judge during his first bond hearing in 2019 that he did not know the car was on fire when he got out, according to CNN affiliate WHNS. "I just know that the car wasn't on fire when I got out the car," Norman said. "I would have stayed in that car with my daughter. I would have never got out the car while the car was on fire. I seen sparks coming from under the tires when I tried to stop and I couldn't stop at that point. I don't know why what happened to the car were I couldn't stop." Norman pleaded guilty to homicide by child abuse, failure to stop for a blue light and siren, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, trafficking methamphetamine and possession of with intent to distribute amphetamine, possession of oxycodone, and possession of xanax, the release said. (Black) Grays Ferry man charged in Love Park homicide
A South Philadelphia man has been charged with fatally shooting a man at the Christmas Village Exhibit at Love Park on Tuesday night.
According to police, Gregory Thomas Sr., 43, of the 2600 block of Wilder Street in Grays Ferry, was working as a security guard at the Christmas exhibit at the famous park at 15th St. and JFK Blvd. when he became involved in a disturbance with the 29-year-old victim at 8:46 p.m.
Police said Thomas walked to a 2007 gray Jeep SUV and retrieved a black duffle bag containing a gun. He removed the gun and shot the victim several times, then fled in the Jeep traveling west on JFK Blvd., police said. Police found the victim suffering from multiple wounds and transported him to Jefferson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries at 9:08 p.m. Police found Thomas at his South Philly home at 10:40 p.m. and took him into custody. Thomas is charged with murder, carrying a firearm and related offenses. |

MEDIA, Pa. (CBS) — A 16-year-old has been charged for his role in the death of 8-year-old Fanta Bility at an Academy Park High School Football game last summer, the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday. Angelo “AJ” Ford, of Sharon Hill, has been arrested on multiple charges, including first-degree murder, in the fatal shooting that took place on Aug. 27.
Hasein Strand, 18, of Collingdale, is also charged and is currently being sought by law enforcement.
A witness told investigators they observed Ford on Coates Street just outside the football game as the game ended. He was reportedly flashing a firearm that was inside his waistband and was heard making threats to others on the street. Ford began shooting in a westbound direction toward Ridley Avenue and the witness says Strand shot back at Ford in the direction of the football field. The witness identified Strand in a photo as the person shooting back at Ford. Another witness reportedly spoke to Strand following the shooting and says Strand said there had been tension inside the football stadium between Ford and Strand’s group of friends. Authorities say Strand told the witness that Ford began to flash his gun to him when exiting the stadium and he took his brother’s vehicle to retrieve his firearm before walking back to Coates Street where Ford was. That’s when Ford apparently fired shots and Strand returned fire. Uniformed Sharon Hill Police officers who were supervising the exit of spectators from the football field as the game ended were about 140 feet from a victim who was struck by the gunfire on the south sidewalk of Coates Street. Officers discharged their weapons immediately upon hearing the shots fired by Ford and Strand. Four other victims suffered gunshot wounds after being struck by returning police gunfire while standing on the ramp inside the football field area off Coates Street. Eight-year-old Fanta Bility was one of those victims. She was rushed to an area hospital by police but succumbed to her injuries. Two of the other victims suffered graze wounds and one was shot in the foot. Twenty-one 9 MM casings were recovered at the scene. |

2 charged with murder in death of woman’s 8-month-old baby, authorities say 
A man and woman were charged with murder Tuesday in the death last month of the woman’s 8-month-old baby, authorities said.
Joshua Delgado, 22, of Paterson, and Ashley Roman, 20, of Wallington, are each charged with first-degree murder and endangering, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.
Delgado also faces drug charges, including possession of heroin with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park, Valdes said. Delgado, who is not related to the baby, went with Roman and the infant to St. Jospeh’s University Medical Center on Oct. 25. The baby was pronounced dead the same day in the hospital, Valdes said. “Based upon the death of the infant, prosecutor’s office detectives opened an immediate investigation and multiple witnesses were interviewed,” Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim M. Baycora said in a joint statement. A medical examiner two days later ruled the child’s death a homicide. The cause and manner of death were not made public. |

A man pleaded guilty Tuesday to shooting and critically wounding Las Vegas police officer Shay Mikalonis at the conclusion of a Samaniego pleaded guilty to attempted murder with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm where a person might be endangered, and two counts of discharging a firearm from or within a structure. He appeared in court Tuesday through a video call from the Clark County Detention Center. Prosecutors told District Judge Carli Kierny that they did not offer Samaniego a deal to plead guilty. Samaniego’s trial was set to start later this month. When Samaniego shot Mikalonis, the bullet pierced his spine and lodged in the right side of his face, prosecutors have said. Mikalonis was shot as he was handcuffing someone outside Circus Circus on June 1. Authorities have said that Samaniego had not been participating in the protests prior to the shooting. ROSEVILLE, Calif. -- A Northern California man who confessed to killing his wife and three children was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without parole.
Investigators in Placer County said Shankar Hangud, 55, confessed to killing his family members over the span of several days across two Northern California counties in October 2019, saying he couldn’t provide for them financially, KCRA-TV reported. His children were aged 13, 16 and 20.
Hangud was arrested shortly after the killings when he drove to a police station in Mount Shasta, more than 200 miles (320 kilometers) from his home, with the body of his oldest son in his car and confessed to all four murders, prosecutors said. After the confession, the bodies of the three other victims were found inside the family’s apartment in Roseville, northeast of Sacramento, police said. Placer County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Penney called it a “horrific crime” where no victims were alive to speak as he sentenced Hangud to three life prison terms. The district attorney’s office said that because Hangud had killed more than one person he had no possibility of parole. Two Children Found Dead, Bound in Backseat May Have Been Suffocated, Possibly With Duct Tape (by their Asian mother 
Authorities in New Jersey have released the identity of the two children found dead in the backseat of their mother’s car on Tuesday, and a law enforcement source has shared harrowing details.
NBC News reports that the deceased children have been identified as Samantha Ross, 7, and Paul Ross, 10 months old. As previously reported, their mother Yuhwei Chou was in the car when the children were found unresponsive, and is facing murder charges.
According to CBS 2, a truck driver first noticed and approached the car that was off-road in Hillsborough on Tuesday morning. The driver reportedly called police after seeing the children in the car. The man also called his father, Paul Long, who spoke to the news station. “He was shook up. He said he found a lady in the ditch and said he asked her if she was all right and she said no, I think. And then he seen the babies and then he called the cops right away,” Long told CBS 2. Responding officers found the children unresponsive and they were both pronounced dead at the scene. A source close to the investigation told NBC News that there were no obvious injuries on the children’s bodies, but that one or both of the children was bound with duct tope over their eyes and mouth. Police were called to the couple's home on Bessinger Drive on October 26 for a "possible suicidal" person.
They found two people injured inside the home. Huletta Jenkins, 47, was pronounced dead at the home. She'd been stabbed multiple times, according to court papers. Wilford Jenkins was taken to the hospital. They did not give details of his injuries. Police have not said what may have led up to the murder. Murder trial begins for (Black) man accused of killing retired Ann Arbor postal worker
ANN ARBOR, MI – The fate of a man accused of strangling to death a retired postal worker in his Ann Arbor home more than two years ago will be decided in the Washtenaw County Trial Court this week.
Jury selection began Monday, Nov. 8, for the murder trial of Christopher Michael Cheatham who is accused of killing Richard “Dick” Fortune, who was found dead during a welfare check on Feb. 20, 2019, in his Ann Arbor home in the 2600 block of Lillian Road.
Cheatham, 27, is charged with one felony count each of open murder and illegal use of a financial transaction device and three counts of stealing a financial transaction device. He is also charged with two misdemeanor counts of receiving and concealing stolen property less than $200. Cheatham was identified as a suspect and arrested in July 2019 accused of killing the 71-year-old retired Ann Arbor postal worker, records show. Cheatham was linked to Fortune’s death through both “biological evidence” found in Fortune’s bedroom and cell phone data recovered by police, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Nimish Ganatra said during the arraignment. Cheatham was one of several tenants living in Fortune’s home at the time of his death, prosecutors said previously. The additional non-murder related charges stem from Cheatham being found in possession of several stolen credit cards not associated with the homicide and not belonging to Fortune, police said previously. An autopsy report obtained by MLive/The Ann Arbor News through a Freedom of Information Act request stated Fortune was strangled to death and wrapped in a tarp inside his home. The case was initially delayed as Cheatham was admitted to the state’s Center for Forensic Psychiatry to undergo a mental competency evaluation to determine if he is fit to stand trial followed by delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. FAIRFIELD, Ohio (WXIX) - Fairfield police have identified the victim of a man killed in a bar shooting on Sunday.
A news release says Robert Strong, 44, died following an argument with Miguel Galliher, 20, at LugNutz Bar and Grill on Donald Drive around 1:30 a.m.
Galliher pulled out a gun during the argument and shot Strong and two other people, police say. Hailey Vierling, 21, and Jerome Golston, 30, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Galliher got into a vehicle and led Fairfield officers on a short chase which ended in a crash. Officers say he was then arrested and charged with murder. It is unclear what led up to the fight. BLACK-ON-WHITE: Video shows 3 black robbers break into ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ (White female) star Dorit Kemsley’s Encino home
Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspects who robbed “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Dorit Kemsley at her Encino home last month.
The Los Angeles Police Department released surveillance video Monday from the Oct. 27 robbery, showing two masked men in dark hoodies peering through the sliding glass window of a residence on the 17000 block of Adlon Road. About a minute later, one of the men shatters the glass, making it possible to enter the home.
About 15 minutes later, the time-stamped security footage catches a suspect dragging what police say was bedding filled with high-end items through the front gate. The man hands it off to another person, then goes back, bringing out what appears to be a garment bag. The men then get into a car that pulls up across from the home and leave the scene. The LAPD did not identify the victim, but the address, time and alleged crime match the publicized case, which police sources confirmed to the Los Angeles Times last month involved the reality star. Kemsley herself also released a statement two days after the incident, thanking fans for their support following the “terrifying ordeal.” The suspects entered her residence around 10:50 p.m., while Kemsley was inside with her kids. “Both suspects threatened to kill her as she pleaded for her life and the lives of her young children,” police said. “In fear for her safety, the victim complied with the suspects demands and directed them to valuables.” The robbers took high-end handbags, jewelry and watches, according to LAPD. They then exited the home with the items wrapped in bedding and met up with a third suspect. All three of the men fled in a black four-door pickup truck, police said. BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police on Tuesday announced an arrest in the murder of a 22-year-old man killed last month in Baltimore’s Curtis Bay neighborhood.
Jaesiah Neal was arrested on a warrant Oct. 15, the same day Tayshawn David was fatally shot inside a home in the 5100 block of Curtis Avenue, according to the Baltimore Police Department.
Neal, 19, remains in custody without bond while awaiting court proceedings on a first-degree murder charge. It’s unclear what led investigators to Neal, who was identified as the shooting suspect based on a preliminary investigation. |

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Four years after stabbing Wichita psychiatrist Dr. Achutha Reddy to death at his business, Umar Dutt was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday.
Dutt will be eligible for parole in 25 years, with credit for time served of four years. Attorneys for both sides and the judge recommended that he serve his sentence at Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility because of a history of mental illness, but that determination will be made by the Kansas Department of Corrections.
Dutt pleaded guilty to the crime in September. The Sedgwick County District Attorney said Dutt went to Dr. Reddy’s office in Wichita’s Carriage Parkway, near Central and Edgemoor, in 2017 to confine Dr. Reddy and hurt him. Dr. Reddy tried to escape but Dutt pursued him even further. In the alley behind the business, Dutt stabbed Dr. Reddy repeatedly more than 160 times, which led to his death. He then ran over the doctor’s body. “I have not been able to sleep for four years due to nightmares when I think of the last moments of my husband’s life, I shake with fear,” said Dr. Beena Reddy, wife of Dr. Achutha Reddy. The wife of Doctor Reddy spoke about the impact of the murder during the hearing. “Umar Dutt gave me a life sentence of grief and fear and misery. This is my daily reality and it will never, ever change. I will never forgive him and I will never forget,” said Dr. Beena Reddy. “Umar Dutt deserves to go to the state penitentiary for the rest of his life.” Dr. Beena Reddy said the death of her husband left their three kids without a father to be there for all their achievements. She said, “My children and I have been devastated by Achutha’s death. Our stability, our security, our peace of mind, has been destroyed by the premeditated, evil actions of Umar Dutt.” She said Dr. Reddy is being remembered for his love and being a kind and gentle man who cared about helping people. That’s what he was trying to for Dutt. Dr. Beena Reddy said, “My husband always believed the best of people, including Umar Dutt.” Dr. Beena Reddy said that mental illness isn’t an excuse to kill someone and that Dutt knew what he was doing. Police arrest (Black) suspect in SE Portland shooting investigation 
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland police arrested a man early Tuesday morning who they believe fired shots in the city.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired shortly before 2:30 a.m. near Southeast Division Street and Southeast 109th Avenue.
At the scene, officers didn’t find the suspect, but witnesses provided them with a description of the shooter and the vehicle he left in. Officers located the suspect soon after and arrested 52-year-old Tyrone Allen. Allen was arrested on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, and discharging a firearm in the city. He was booked in the Multnomah County Detention Center. |

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man recently released after 16 years in prison for manslaughter is once again behind bars, this time accused of shooting up a Portland neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
Eric Presley was arrested when police found him hiding in bushes near Spring Garden Park after they said they could see a green laser beam shining out of the bushes.
Residents in the area called police about the shots fired around 3 p.m. along Southwest Spring Garden Street, near Spring Garden Park. The callers gave police a description of a possible suspect and said he may have been shooting at a vehicle that was no longer in the area. A witness pointed them in the direction the suspect headed. One resident who asked his name not be used told KOIN 6 News, “The fact that they responded so quickly and were able to contain the perimeter I was shocked by that because I thought, oh, there’s so many nooks and crannies that they could just slither off to, but they were able to do it and do it peacefully.” In 2005 Presley pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the 2003 shooting death of Emanuel Mosley in Portland. Lorenzo James Rawls broke into a home in the 1600 block of SE Maple Street and stole several things, including the resident’s ID, the Hillsboro Police Department said. Minutes later at about 5 p.m., the 32-year-old allegedly exposed himself on a train near the 8800 block of NE Quatama Street. Rawls was arrested on the train and booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of 1st-degree burglary, 1st-degree theft, 2nd-degree public indecency, interfering with public transportation, interfering with a police officer and disorderly conduct. |

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CBS13/AP) — A Northern California mother and her boyfriend have been convicted of murdering a 5-year-old boy after inflicting “extensive abuse” on the child.
The boy’s mother, Jessica Prater, 37, and her boyfriend Adam Caldwell, 45, were found guilty on several counts related to the 2016 death of Prater’s son, Zachary Prater-Stokes.
The mother and child had moved into Caldwell’s home in the Sacramento suburb of Orangevale in April 2016, the district attorney’s office said in a statement. “Caldwell began to punish and abuse Zachary, both psychologically and physically,” the statement said. “The physical abuse became more frequent and more violent. The abuse was also inflicted by Prater.” Roughly two months after moving in with her boyfriend, Prater called 911 “to report that Zachary had swallowed water in the bathtub and was not responsive.” Fire personnel arrived and found Zachary clothed and dry in a bedroom, and transported him to a hospital where he never regained consciousness. “Medical evidence confirmed extensive abuse,” the statement said. The autopsy showed Zachary’s death was caused by “blunt force injuries and water submersion.” Both defendants’ cases involved nearly three years of pretrial conferences and hearings, with trial proceedings then interrupted in March 2020 by COVID-19 protocols imposed at Sacramento Superior County Court, court records show. Prater was convicted Friday of first-degree murder by torture, child assault causing death and child abuse with great bodily injury causing death, the district attorney’s office said. Caldwell was convicted last month of second-degree murder and child assault causing death. Each faces 25 years to life in prison. Caldwell is scheduled for sentencing Nov. 19. Prater’s sentencing is set for Dec. 10. |

HISPANIC Illegal immigrant pleads guilty to additional killings in northern Nevada murders 
An illegal immigrant pleaded guilty Tuesday to killing two additional people during a two-week rampage in northern Nevada in 2019.
Wilber Ernesto Martinez Guzman, 22, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder with a deadly weapon in rural Douglas County, in the deaths of Connie Koontz, 56, and Sophia Renken, 74. The two were killed at their homes in Gardnerville.
He pleaded guilty in Washoe County last month to the same charges in the deaths of Gerald and Sharon David at their southwest Reno home during the same two-week period in January 2019. Authorities said Martinez Guzman stole a .22-caliber handgun from the Davids' home, shot and killed Koontz and Renken in separate attacks, and returned to the Davids' house several days later to rob and kill them. Gerald David, 81, and his 80-year-old wife had employed Martinez Guzman as a landscaper the summer before. Martinez Guzman was arrested in Carson City during a manhunt that had investigators track an Apple watch stolen from Koontz to Martinez Guzman's mother. Authorities said Martinez Guzman, a Salvadoran national, was in the country illegally, but they didn't say how or when he arrived. At the time, the case drew the attention of President Trump, who said it showed the need for a U.S.-Mexico border wall. Prosecutors initially sought the death penalty but that was dropped as part of a plea agreement. Prosecutors said a factor in that decision was a direct appeal from the victims’ families who didn't want the case to stretch on with the potential for decades of appeals. In addition to four consecutive life terms with no possibility of parole, Martinez Guzman faces a minimum of another 214 years in prison for the multiple burglary, larceny, weapons, and possession of stolen property charges under the plea agreement outlined in court documents. He is expected to plead guilty to several property crimes in Carson City later this month. Washoe County District Judge Connie Steinheimer has scheduled sentencing for the Reno crimes for Feb. 28. PORTLAND, Ore. (Portland Tribune) — A Portland man under investigation for child rape botched his attempt to exonerate himself after providing police with his phone — which contained videos of the suspect sexually abusing a dog and a dead or unconscious deer, authorities allege.
Damon J. Cervantes, 32, is accused of raping a three-year-old child he was supposed to be watching on Sept. 25, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court.
Two other young children were present, who reported the incident in detail to another adult that day and later to crisis responders, saying that Cervantes told them to “keep it a secret,” per court documents. After agreeing to come in for questioning, Cervantes told detectives Sept. 28 that the children were lying and said his cellphone usage would prove he was busy at the time of the incident, according to court records. “(Cervantes) showed some screen captures that he had taken to support his contention,” according to the probable cause affidavit. Detectives say Cervantes consented to police downloading a copy of his cell phone during the interview. A search of the phone turned up two videos, taken from multiple angles, showing Cervantes in his bedroom having sex with a pit bull while wearing a shirt captioned “What day is it? HUMPDAY,” per court papers. Detectives say they found another video that “appeared” to show Cervantes having sex with a “recently deceased or heavily sedated deer” in a separate incident, although the video does not show his face. The owner of the dog said Cervantes’ behavior around children had often “weirded him out,” adding that the dog had refused to eat for almost a week after being left in Cervantes’ care, according to court docs. Cervantes, who has three prior felony convictions, now faces a slew of sex crime charges, including first-degree rape, first-degree sex abuse, first-degree sodomy, luring a minor, endangering the welfare of a minor and sexual assault of an animal. (Black) Alleged Serial Killer Perez Reed Used Same Gun, Wore Same Shoes to Kill 6 People, Police Say
A 25-year-old suspected serial killer has been charged with two of six murders he is allegedly connected to in St. Louis and Kansas City, according to local police.
Perez Reed, whose photo shows he sports a crescent tattoo between his eyes, was stopped by authorities as he got off a bus Friday night after police tied his cellphone picked up at a crime scene to an Amtrak ticket he purchased. St. Louis NBC affiliate KSDK reports the victims of the murders and random non-fatal shootings were mostly women involved in the sex industry and people who may have been part of the cities’ transgender community. The attacks took place between September and late October and include one shooting in the city of St. Louis, two murders in St. Louis County, and two murders in Kansas City, Kansas—all committed with the same .40 caliber Smith & Wesson pistol, police say. The first murder victim was a 16-year-old girl who was killed on Sept. 13, a few days after she was reported as a runaway. So far, Reed has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault, and three counts of armed criminal action, according to St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell’s office as reported in local media. Reed has also been charged with one federal count of transporting a firearm across a state line with the intent to commit a felony. The killings in Kansas City took place in a high-rise apartment complex in two separate units. Police say Reed wore the same shoes to both murders and then kept them on at further crime scenes, which led police to search local phone networks to look for a cellphone connection. When they reportedly found his phone number had been used in both locations, they were able to trace the number to an Amtrak ticket he purchased to return home from St. Louis to Kansas City. Police followed him when he got off the train and onto a bus in Independence, Missouri, where he was arrested. Autopsies detail brutal deaths of Virginia infant, mother inside apartment

(WAVY) — An infant and his mother were brutally killed in their Norfolk apartment in December 2020. 10 On Your Side investigators obtained a copy of the baby’s autopsy, which shows he likely suffered several beatings over the course of his short life before the day the fatal blows were allegedly delivered by his father. Damere Warren was 3 months old when he and his mother, 22-year-old Epifani Andrews, were killed in their 6th Bay Street apartment. The Norfolk Police Department responded to the apartment after neighbors reported a domestic disturbance around 1 p.m. on Dec. 29, 2020. Officers found the mother and child on the floor of their living room, and the two were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Norfolk police. Police believe Damere and his mother died at the hands of his father, DuWayne Warren. The 26-year-old was charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the slayings. MEMPHIS, Tenn. — As Mid-South leaders continue to grapple with increasing crime rates, one of Memphis’ newest murder suspects was walking the streets despite being charged with two other murders earlier this year.
With violent crime taking center stage this year, one frustrated community is in Southwest Memphis where police say Lamont Murry shot and killed a man during an argument Sunday afternoon.
Murry is now facing a second-degree murder charge. However, WREG has learned that Murry was already facing other murder charges. He was accused of killing two people in August of 2020 at a motel on American Way; one of the victims was the daughter of a member of Memphis rap group Three 6 Mafia. According to police, surveillance video showed Murry killing a man in the motel lobby. He later admitted both killings were gang retaliations for another homicide. Despite all of this, prosecutors dropped his murder charges last year. They told us Monday they did that because their witnesses didn’t show up to court and the judge wouldn’t let them postpone, so Murry was free to go. Now — a year later — police say he’s killed another person. We wanted to know why was an accused murderer allowed back on the streets. It’s something Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland spoke about recently, commenting on our “broken judicial system” and the “revolving door at 201 Poplar” that allows violent people to commit more crime. All the DA’s office would say is that “further investigation was needed.” That’s what they say they did for another nine months, until a grand jury indicted him again for the American Way murders. We asked District Attorney Amy Weirich whether quicker action could have potentially saved the life of the third victim. A representative did not respond to that question. |
(Black) Robeson County man fatally shoots brother during dispute
ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WMBF) - A Pee Dee man is in custody after authorities said he allegedly shot his brother during an argument.
The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the area of Birdson Drive in Parkton at around 10:36 p.m. Saturday after reports of someone being shot. Officials said 29-year-old Issac McNair, of Parkton, was found dead when deputies arrived.
His brother, 21-year-old Isaiah McNair, was later arrested and in connection with his death. Isaiah McNair is charged with first-degree murder and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle. He’s also charged with felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. Isaiah McNair is being held at the Robeson County Detention Center with no bond as of Sunday.

Authorities arrest (Black) suspect in deadly Halloween shooting in Killeen, Texas
KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - U.S. marshals and Killeen police officers on Friday, November 5, arrested Perry Tyshawn Davis, 43, a man wanted for murder in connection to the Halloween shooting death of Jhirmack Wartell Brown.
An arrest warrant charging murder was issued against Davis on November 3. The suspect was located in the 1300 block of Powder River Drive and taken into custody without incident a couple of days later, police said.
Killeen police officers were called just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday, October 31, to the 1200 block Middleton Street because of a shooting. Officers arrived to find Brown, 39, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives with the Killeen Police Department Homicide Unit learned Davis and Brown were involved in a verbal altercation, when Davis displayed a handgun and fired a round at Brown. The victim then pulled a handgun and discharged it towards Davis, striking him. Davis was taken to a hospital in Temple after the shooting. He was arrested days after his release. |
3 young (Black) people charged with murder in drive-by shooting of Jacksonville man
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police announced Monday that two young men and a woman are charged with murder and attempted armed robbery in connection with the deadly shooting of a man on Aug. 8, 2020, on Jacksonville’s Eastside.
Police responding to the 1500 block of Milnor Street, near East 4th Street, at 1:26 a.m. that morning found a 19-year-old man shot in a car. He was taken to a hospital where he died. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office no longer provides the identity of crime victims. Homicide investigators identified and obtained arrest warrants for three suspects: Judah Randall, 21, Ki’nya Walters, 20, and Kaleb Howard, 18. |

Henry County Police Officer Paramhans Desai, a 38-year-old married father of two, was attacked Thursday while responding to a domestic dispute in McDonough, where he was shot by Jordan Jackson, 22, and remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition, police said in a statement. A massive manhunt was ongoing early Monday for Jackson and cops vowed to find him in “whatever hole” he’s hiding in, WXIA reported. “Let me be crystal clear, we certainly will not tolerate any individual, regardless of who you are, coming to what we consider to be God’s country of Henry County and harming any of our police officers in any kind of way,” Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandrett told reporters at a press conference. Being led away after Pastor Ezekiel Ndikumana tackled him, Dezire Baganda said all churches and schools need to be shot up.
A 26-year-old man has been charged with 15 counts of felony aggravated assault after pulling out a gun during church services at a north Nashville church.
The pastor of Nashville Light Mission Pentecostal Church and several parishioners tackled Dezire Baganda, who was sitting in the front row of the church on Sunday afternoon. According to a press release from the Nashville Police Department, Baganda approached the altar where Pastor Ezekiel Ndikumana and several members of the congregation were praying. “Baganda told everyone to get up while he waved and pointed the handgun at the congregation,” NPD officials wrote. The pastor quickly tackled Baganda before any shots were fired. Several church members jumped in to assist in disarming Baganda and holding him to the ground until officers arrived on scene.” Video from the Nashville Light Mission Pentecostal security cameras captured the entire encounter. According to the police report, Baganda was not a member of the church but had visited in the past. Police noted that Baganda could be hit with additional charges. In a local interview with WKRN, the Burundi-born Ndikumana said Baganda “wanted to kill.” “He was standing in the front of almost everybody. No one was behind him yet, so he could have done anything,” said choir member Nzojibugami Noe, who translated for the pastor. “I would say that God used me because I felt like I was going to use the back door as an example as going on by trying to go behind him. And then I felt the feeling that I would go and grab him … and that’s what happened,” Ndikumana told WKRN. According to the arrest report, Baganda had visited the church in the past and had been asked not to return after interrupting sermons. Shots fired at officer leads to high-speed pursuit - 2 BLACK teens and 3 others under 18 yrs old arrested
OMAHA, Neb. —
Omaha police say five people, including three teenagers, are in custody after a high-speed pursuit ended at a hospital early Monday.
Officers reported hearing gunfire in the area of N. 65th St. and Hartman Avenue shortly after midnight. An Omaha police officer, who was in the area driving an unmarked cruiser, saw a vehicle driving erratically near CHI Immanuel Hospital. The officer tried to follow, but investigators say someone in the suspicious vehicle fired at the cruiser and took off at a high rate of speed. The officer was not hurt. The pursuit went into Iowa and back in Nebraska; it ended at Nebraska Medicine. One juvenile was treated for a minor injury and released from the hospital. No one else was hurt. Authorities say a stolen gun was recovered after the pursuit. (Black) Rapper Lit Yoshi gets July trial date in Baton Rouge on multiple attempted murder counts
Baton Rouge rapper Lit Yoshi will stand trial next summer on seven counts of attempted first-degree murder stemming from two rap-rivalry shootings in the city last year, a judge decided Monday.
The trial of the jailed rap artist, whose real name is Mieyoshi Edwards, will begin July 18. It could last more than a week, prosecutor Stuart Theriot told state District Judge Tarvald Smith.
The selection of the trial date by Theriot and Edwards' lead attorney, Ron Haley, came two months after Smith revoked the rapper's $1.82 million bond and sent him back to jail. The judge had set that bond last summer. An FBI agent testified at a Sept. 9 bond revocation hearing that five guns, ammunition and a bulletproof vest were found in July in a Florida home where Edwards was under house arrest while awaiting trial in Baton Rouge on the attempted murder charges. Haley told Smith on Monday that he intends to file a motion asking the judge to reconsider his decision to revoke Edwards' bond. Smith said his ruling stands for now, but he will consider any new evidence presented. The seven attempted first-degree murder counts that Edwards faces in Baton Rouge stem from two shootings — one on April 20, 2020, and the other July 4 of that year — that injured three adults and two children. Detectives have attributed those shootings to a simmering feud between the rival NBA (Never Broke Again) and TBG (Top Boy Gorilla) record labels, groups that authorities also have described as gangs. |

Seattle grand jury indicts two BLACK AFRICANS FROM THE CONGO for allegedly smuggling poached ivory, rare white rhino horns
Two foreign nationals from the "Democratic Republic" of Congo were arrested outside Seattle last week and indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of conspiracy and money laundering for allegedly smuggling elephant ivory and rhino horns into the United States.
Herdade Lokua, 23, and his cousin, 31-year-old Jospin Mujangi, both of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), are accused of working with a middle man — described in the 11-count indictment as an “unindicted co-conspirator” — to facilitate four shipments of the poached items into Seattle in August, September and May of last year, according to court documents. Both men arrived in Washington on Nov. 2 to negotiate further shipments of prohibited animal parts and were arrested in Edmonds, according to officials from the Department of Homeland Security. They appeared Thursday in U.S. District Court, where they pleaded not guilty to charges, including conspiracy, money laundering, smuggling and violations of the Lacey Act, which prohibits submitting false records in interstate or foreign commerce. A Nevada filmmaker was killed in what police say was a "completely random" shooting at a gas station in south Las Vegas.
Curtis Abraham, 35, was sitting in his vehicle outside the convenience store early on Thursday morning while his girlfriend went inside to get a few items. Just after midnight, police say, 22-year-old Jesus Javier Uribe walked into the parking lot wearing a bulletproof vest. Authorities tell CBS-8 that the Uribe first shot at an empty car, before walking over to Abraham's car and shooting him to death. Uribe then entered the convenience store. Abraham's girlfriend hid in a cooler with a clerk, while other customers fled out the back door. At least seven bullet casings were found inside the store, but no one inside was hit by gunfire, the prosecutor said. Uribe then fled the scene.
