Current internet copy shows on 5 news boxes for Oct 13 - at 4pm there should be 13 items. I guess the Internet is most often not up to date, I will see if I can force it to at least update New Nation News - once a day.... BLACK Texas man suspected of committing two murders while free on bond in county of Soros-funded DA
A Texas man is suspected of committing two murders after being released on bond in a country run by a hispanic district attorney's office funded by liberal megadonor George Soros.
Documents obtained by Fox News show 29-year-old Laderious Deshawn Nicholson was arrested in 2019 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and released in 2021 on a surety bond. He allegedly committed two murders after his release. He was arrested in September 2021 for those homicides and is currently in the Travis County correctional system. Austin is mostly within Travis County. Records from the Travis County Sheriffโs Office show that Nicholson was released from its custody on March 15, 2021, when he posted a bond of $75,000 via Kwik Out Bail bonds and was set free without any bail conditions such as a GPS monitor or curfew. Court papers show Nicholson is suspected of committing a murder on May 15, 2021, during a dice game robbery. Additionally, court papers show another murder warrant being issued for Nicholson related to a deadly shooting in Austin on June 23, 2021, when he allegedly shot a man seven times and killed him during a botched drug deal in Austin, Texas. The surety bond that released Nicholson back onto the streets was acted upon under Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza, who received over $500,000 from PACs tied to billionaire liberal megadonor George Soros. Garza, a Democrat, defeated incumbent DA Margaret Moore in the 2020 Democratic primary and won the general election in November. He took office 3 months before Nicholsonโs release. Soros has gained notoriety in cities across the country for pushing progressive programs that defund police departments and lower sentencing requirements for violent crimes. In Austin, Soros recently dumped $500,000 into a campaign fighting a ballot measure that would reinstate funding to the police that Mayor Steve Adler and the city council stripped following the death of George Floyd. (Black) Zebulon man accused of killing roommate called 911 on himself >
ZEBULON, N.C. โ A man accused of killing his roommate turned himself in to police Tuesday night, police say.
Around 10:15 p.m., officers responded multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots at a home on Braemar Highlands Drive. Callers told dispatchers there was arguing and multiple shots were fired, according to 911 calls released by police.
When police arrived on scene they found Chauncy Kassim Montague, 35, in the front yard with gunshot wounds. Montague was taken to a local hospital, where he died. Witnesses said the shooter left in a Dodge Charger, but before officers could locate him, Travis Denawn Jordan, 32, called 911 to notify dispatchers of his location, even saying he had a gun on the seat beside him, police said. Police are not currently releasing the recording of this 911 call. Raleigh police officers stopped the car on Ricker Road, and Jordan was arrested on murder charges. Police said Jordan was extremely cooperative. They found him in his car with the flashers on. When they arrived, he instantly got out and put his hands up. Investigators said Jordan and Montague were roommates, and an argument had led to the shooting. |
(Black) Florida Man Charged in Death of Girlfriend After 2-Year-Old Toddler Fired Fatal Gunshot During Work Zoom Call
A Florida man has been charged in connection with the shooting of a young mother during a work-related Zoom call. Shamaya Lynn, 21, died when her own toddler obtained an unsecured handgun, pulled the trigger, and fired, authorities said in August. According to court documents, the gunโs owner, Veondre Avery, 22, kept the weapon in a backpack decorated with animated characters form a childrenโs show and that his 2-year-old son โ the toddler who fired the fatal shot โ knew how to use toy guns.
Avery was charged this week with two counts in connection with the shooting: failure to securely store a firearm and manslaughter. According to jail records, he was booked into the Seminole County, Fla. jail on Tuesday and was due in court Wednesday afternoon. One of the participants in the fateful multi-party Zoom was selected to immediately alert the police to what occurred. The colleague who telephoned 911 said that a child began โjumping on the bed without a shirt on and looked like he was wearing only a diaperโ during the Zoom call. The colleague said that โshe heard a loud noise and the child in the background beginning to cry.โ The victimโs โhead fell backwards and moved forward back into [the view of the] screen.โ The college noticed โblood on [Lynnโs] noseโ before the victim again moved โback off screen.โ No one responded when colleagues called out for help. Eventually, after several minutes had passed, the colleague told police she heard Avery enter the room and yell. The Zoom call remained active while Avery called 911 himself. The colleague said she tried to call out to Avery but that he apparently couldnโt hear her; the child was the only other person in the room when the gunshot rang out.

PORTLAND, Ore. โ Larry Miller is one of the most well-known and successful figures in the sports business industry, having directed the Jordan Brand since 2012 after a five-year tenure as team president of the Portland Trail Blazers. But in an interview with Sports Illustrated's Howard Beck, the 72-year-old Miller revealed that he's hidden a secret from his past for decades.
According to Beck's article, published Wednesday by Sports Illustrated in advance of a book Miller wrote with his oldest daughter, Miller said he shot and killed a man in Philadelphia on a September night in 1965, when he was just 16 years old. Miller said he joined a gang in West Philadelphia when he was 13 years old. Three years later, on Sept. 30, 1965, he said he shot 18-year-old Edward White as an act of retribution after a younger friend had been stabbed and killed during a fight with another gang. Miller said he went searching for anyone affiliated with the other gang and shot the first person he encountered. He said he didn't know White, didn't know if he had anything to do with the stabbing of his friend or if he was even connected to the other gang. There was "no valid reason" for the shooting, Miller said. |
Georgia police say (black) woman who tried to rob 2 men at gunpoint was shot to death by own firearm
Georgia police on Wednesday identified a dead female robbery suspect who allegedly tried to rob two men at gunpoint inside a vehicle but was shot and killed by her own gun during a struggle.
The Warner Robins Police Department said its officers were dispatched at 12:30 a.m. Sunday to the 100 block of Fred Drive and found 21-year-old Kyndal Reynoldswith a gunshot wound. Reynolds was transported to Houston Medical Center, where she died. Reynolds and another woman, 42-year-old Tywana Antonette Cody, met two men earlier in the night. While all four were together inside a vehicle, Reynolds "attempted to rob the male companions," police said. Investigators believe one of the men attempted to disarm her, and Reynolds was shot with her own weapon during a struggle. "All parties stayed on scene and met with investigators," police said. Cody has been charged with being a party to a crime of aggravated assault, party to a crime of criminal attempt to commit armed robbery and felony murder. She is being held at the Houston County Detention Facility. |

A prisoner at New Jerseyโs only womenโs prison was allegedly sexually assaulted by a correctional officer last month, even as the troubled facility is under federal monitoring and heightened scrutiny due to authorities detailing how sexual abuse was rampant at the facility for years.
Tyrell Harris-McLaughlin, a senior correctional officer at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women, has been charged by state prosecutors with sexual assault and official misconduct for allegedly having sex with a prisoner on Sept. 16, the Attorney Generalโs office announced Wednesday. The 28-year-old allegedly assaulted a prisoner who he had supervisory or disciplinary power over, authorities said. Evidence collected from the alleged assault was a match to Harris-McLaughlinโs DNA, according to the criminal complaint. The woman detailed the alleged assault in a recorded conversation with authorities less than a week later, the complaint says. |
NYPD Charges BLACK 13-Year-Old Boy With Attempted Murder in Playground Shooting
Police have arrested a 13-year-old boy seen on video walking through a Bronx street holding a firearm in connection to last week's playground shooting of a teen of the same age.
The young boy, who was not named due to his age, was charged Tuesday with attempted murder, harassment and three counts of assault, according to the NYPD. Four other people were still being sought for questioning in the shooting that sent the 13-year-old victim to a hospital after a fight broke out inside Hunts Point Playground on Oct. 7. The shot was fired around 5:30 p.m. following what verbal argument at the playground, according to police. EMS transported the boy to a hospital in Harlem with a gunshot wound to his left knee. Police released a video over the weekend appearing to show the young gunman walking on a street carrying the gun in broad daylight. A second individual wanted for questioning was captured on video riding a bike. He was last seen wearing a red sweatshirt, light colored jeans, multicolored sneakers and a black fanny pack. Five alleged Chicago street gang members have been charged in a racketeering conspiracy alleging a pattern of violence that includes the brazen downtown slaying of Chicago rapper FBG Duck last year.
An 11-page indictment unsealed Wednesday charged Charles Liggins, also known as โC Murda,โ Kenneth Roberson, Christopher Thomas, Tacarlos Offerd, and Marcus Smart, with committing murder in aid of racketeering as well as various firearms offenses. The charges carry a mandatory minimum of life in prison upon conviction and prosecutors could also seek the death penalty. |

A 27-year-old man faces a murder charge after police say he shot and killed a man after a fight outside a Dallas car wash. Anzi Gomez was booked into the Dallas County jail just before 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Gomez is accused of killing Gregorio Romero, 30, near Lake June and Prairie Creek Roads Oct. 9. Authorities said Romero slapped Gomez during an argument. Gomez shot Romero before fleeing in a black 2007 Chevrolet Corvette with chrome rims, police said. Romero was taken to a hospital, where he later died. NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) - Two teens involved in the murder of a Nashville musician pleaded guilty to second degree murder charges on Tuesday.
Decorrius Wright and Diamond Lewis will both serve at least 25 years in prison for their role in the murder of Kyle Yorlets outside him [stet] home during a robbery attempt in 2019.
Lewis entered her guilty plea during a hearing Tuesday morning. She will serve 25 years in prison at 100% with a small possibility of a reduced sentence in the future. Wright pled guilty to second degree murder and aggravated robbery later in the morning. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison for both charges, to be served concurrently. He will also serve an additional year for escaping the Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center after his arrest in 2019 and theft of property, which he was sentenced to 10 years of probation. The family of Kyle Yorlets participated in the hearing via video conferencing. Assistant district attorney Megan King read victim impact statements prepared by Kyleโs parents, including his mother, Deb, who passed away earlier this summer after a battle with cancer. โOur lives will never be the same, there is unimaginable pain,โ Deb Yorlets wrote in her statement read to the court. โIt is true torture to go through the holidays without him. Healing will take a very long time. He was someone who you did not easily forget, having such a positive impact on everyone he met. Kyle was an exceptional light and inspiration in our family.โ โWords cannot explain the devastation created by the senseless loss of someone as special as Kyle,โ Larry Yorlets, Kyleโs dad, said in his statement. โItโs truly my belief that there is some divine reason whey this happened because nothing else makes any sense. We may never know what the reason is, but I hope it has a huge impact because the sacrifice was immeasurable.โ Lewis appeared emotional during her court appearance while Wright seemed to show no remorse, sitting stoically at times in the courtroom. Both wore masks much of the time because of COVID-19 protocols. Lewis and Wright were charged as adults with killing Kyle Yorlets while attempting to rob him outside of his home. Lewis admitted to approaching Kyle Yorlets outside his home and asking him for money. Kyle Yorlets attempted to hand Lewis a $1 bill when Wright shot him in his arm, according to the plea statement read aloud in court. Wright and Lewis were each indicted on multiple charges. They are two of the teens charged with the death of Kyle Yorlets. Lewis faced eight charges, included murder, robbery and theft, while Wright faced 11 charges, including murder, robbery and theft before they accepted the plea deal. GLASGOW VILLAGE, Mo. (KMOV.com) โ After hours of deliberating, a jury found a 24-year-old man guilty of killing four people, including a 10-year-old boy, in north St. Louis County in 2017.
JaโVonne Dupree was found guilty of four counts of first-degree murder and other felony charges just before midnight Friday. On Aug. 24, 2017, police found the bodies of 56-year-old Patricia Steward, 20-year-old Joseph Corley, 18-year-old Deandre Kelley Jr., and 10-year-old Terrence Dehart inside a home in Glasgow Village during a welfare check. All four victims were shot to death. "It's just as grisly as you'd probably imagine it to be," Benjamin Granda with the St. Louis County Police Department said describing the scene in 2017. During the trial, family members of the victims testified that Dupree was homeless and taken in by the โmatriarch of the family, a hip-hop producer who worked with Dupree as a rapper.โ The 24-year-old killed them after being kicked out of their home, officials said. Immediately after the shooting, Dupree picked up all the shell casings before stealing various electronics, clothes, shoes, and a car. He was arrested four months later in Columbia, Missouri. Investigators discovered the 24-year-old boasted about committing the crimes, revealing details not known to the public on social media afterwards. โThe unimaginable suffering of an amazing and loving family does not end with these guilty verdicts, but at least they know that justice has been served and that they were intimately involved in the success of this investigation and prosecution,โ St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell said. Bruce Speaks and Shantay Jenkins were killed October 2015 in the Purrysburg area of Hardeeville. Speaks and Jenkinsโ bodies were found burned and unrecognizable inside a burnt car. Police arrested 21-year-old Antonio โSantonioโ Nieves in Hardeeville. Nieves was charged with two counts of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. |
35 Year-old (black) Man Arrested and Charged with 1st Degree Murder in Baltimore
BALTIMORE, MARYLAND โ On September 7, 2021, at approximately 4:48 p.m., the Southern District patrol officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Cherry Hill Road to investigate a reported shooting.
When officers arrived at the location they observed 31 year-old Seth Tunstall suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Medics were summoned to the scene and pronounced the victim dead. A 26-year-old man has been charged with the kidnapping and murder of Miranda Springs, 30, investigators with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.
On Tuesday morning, CMPD officers were called to Statesville Avenue, which is off Statesville Road near Interstate 85 in north Charlotte for a homicide investigation.
The Homicide Unit then went to J. Julian Lane, off Tuckaseegee Road in northwest Charlotte where officers found Springsโ body in a wooded area. Victorville Police looking for (bloodshot-eyed black) man involved in an assault with a deadly weapon
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) โ The Victorville Police Department is looking for information on a 32-year-old Adelanto man involved in an assault with a deadly weapon last month.
On August 8, 2021, at about 6:00 am, deputies from the Victorville station responded to the area of Hook Boulevard and Amethyst Road reference an unknown problem.
Through investigation, deputies learned the victims, a 25-year-old male, and 24-year-old female, were with the suspect at a residence. The victims borrowed the suspectโs vehicle and went to the store, officials said. Upon the victimโs return, the suspect exited the residence, and a disagreement occurred. During the disagreement, the suspect struck the female victim in the face with a firearm and fired one round into the street before fleeing the location in his vehicle. On September 29, 2021, detectives from the Victorville Police Station served a search warrant on two residences, in connection to the August 8th incident, and located two firearms along with ammunition. The suspect in the assault was identified as Maurice Kelley. Kelley has not been located and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Kelley is described as a black male, 5โ7โ tall, and approximately 175 lbs. Kelley is known to drive a grey Chevrolet Malibu. |
(Black) Man who beat wife while kids hid in closet gets 10 years
SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) โ A man who admitted beating his estranged wife while their three children hid in a closet has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The oldest child, a 10-year-old boy, called 911 โ and the beating was still going on when Shreveport police kicked in a bedroom door on Feb. 24, 2020, according to a news release from the Caddo Parish District Attorneyโs Office.
Christopher Michael Rapp, 30, of Shreveport was sentenced Monday on two abuse charges. He got two years for abuse with child endangerment and the maximum eight years for domestic abuse battery with serious injury. Judge Donald E. Hathaway Jr. also signed permanent orders forbidding Rapp any contact with his estranged wife and their oldest child. The woman was so afraid of Rapp that she refused to cooperate with prosecutors, who brought the case against her wishes, the news release said. โDomestic violence threatens our ability to keep families and communities safe,โ said Caddo Parish District Attorney James E. Stewart Sr. โWe will continue to do all that we can to protect our victims and hold these abusers accountable.โ In a statement to the judge on Monday, Rapp admitted going to his estranged wifeโs home, locking her in the master bedroom and beating her. The younger children were 8 and 4 years old. The 10-year-old talked to the emergency dispatcher for 14 minutes, saying his father was hurting his mother and had done so before. (Black) Man charged in Shiloh home invasion that ended with woman shot in the mouth
SHILOH, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A man is accused of shooting woman during a home invasion in Shiloh over the weekend.
Around 1 a.m. Sunday, officers found a woman shot in the first block of Yorkshire Lane. A suspect description was relayed to officers and someone matching the description was taken into custody at Anderson Lane at Antiquity Lane.
The police investigation revealed that a man with a gun forced his way into a home. He then reportedly used force and restraints to get an adult and two juveniles to go to a different place in the neighborhood. They eventually returned to the home on Yorkshire Lane and waited for a different family member to show up. When that person arrived, a fight ensued, and the woman was shot in the mouth. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Investigators stressed the incident was not a random act of violence. They also stated the suspect is related to a majority of those involved. Frederick H. Williams Sr., 55, is charged with three counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of felon possession of a weapon, two counts of aggravated unlawful restraint and one count of home invasion while armed with a gun. He is being held on a $880,000 bond. |

Three men have been arrested in Northern California in connection to a gang-related cold case murder that happened two decades ago after investigators re-interviewed witnesses who apparently had a "change of heart," authorities said.
Nhin Phi Ha, 22, was stabbed to death by two suspects while standing in front of his apartment complex on Avalani Avenue on Oct. 31, 2001, the San Jose Police Department said. Haโs friend was also stabbed multiple times but survived his injuries. The two suspects fled the scene in a vehicle driven by a third suspect. FREEHOLD, NJ โ A man who shot a Freehold woman between moving cars in May 2018 was found guilty of all charges on Tuesday Morning.
Then 34-year-old Kader Mustafa, from Hightstown, was charged with one count of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and two counts of endangering another person.
The woman was 24-year-old Sciasia Calhoun, who was driving with her boyfriend and one-year-old baby in the car. She was a complete stranger to Mustafa. Mustafa had been abusing Adderal and was reportedly acting "delusional," according to statements made in trial last week during closing arguments. Mustafa had aluminum foil wrapped around him in the form of a blanket and headwear on the night of the incident, according to evidence. DRYDEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A Detroit man was found guilty of two murder charges and a total of 11 felonies after police discovered the body of a 35-year-old man in the ditch next to a Lapeer County road in 2019, according to authorities.
A resident called 911 and told police that a 29-year-old Rockford man showed up at their home after suffering a non-life-threatening gunshot injury, according to authorities.
Lapeer County deputies said they searched the area and found the body of Jason Stefanski, 35, of Rockford, in a ditch next to the rural section of roadway. About an hour later, deputies located a 2014 Buick Encore two miles away from the shooting scene, they said. The SUV was stopped in the roadway, and the driver, Lydell Dukes, 40, of Detroit, was armed with a weapon, police said. Officials said Dukes led them on a pursuit that came to an end at M-24 and Coulter Road in Mayfield Township. He was taken into custody and lodged at the Lapeer County Jail, according to authorities. Following a joint investigation by Dryden Township police and Lapeer County deputies, Dukes was charged with open murder, assault with intent to commit murder, third-degree fleeing, resisting and obstructing police and โnumerous weapons offenses,โ according to officials. The trial began Tuesday (Oct. 5) at 40th Circuit Court in Lapeer County and ended Friday. The jury deliberated for about three hours before reaching a verdict, authorities said. Dukes was found guilty of 11 felony counts, including first-degree premeditated murder and felony murder. TOMS RIVER โ Prosecutors say a new murder-for-hire accusation against a New Jersey man in the death of his father two years ago could result in a life sentence without possibility of parole.
Mark Austin and a co-defendant were originally charged with murder, conspiracy and weapons counts in the death of Austin's 55-year-old father, Mark, who was found beaten to death in his Brick Township home in September 2019.
Ocean County prosecutors on Friday announced a superseding indictment against 30-year-old Austin, alleging that he procured commission of the murder with payment or promise of payment. Prosecutors said that aggravating factor, if proven, would require imposition of a life-without-parole sentence. When the original charges were filed, "it was not known at that time that this was a murder-for-hire situation," prosecutors said. Austin's (black) co-defendant, Jeray Melton, 30, of Salem City, pleaded guilty in February 2020 to aggravated manslaughter and is awaiting sentencing, prosecutors said. Melton originally alleged Austin, his former cellmate at a youth correctional facility, threatened to kill him if he didn't kill the victim but he changed his story several times, according to The Asbury Park Press. Melton told the judge during his plea hearing that Austin offered him $50,000 to do the slaying. ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - KeโRon Nickelson, 20 of Alexandria, who is accused of the Feb. 2021 deadly double shooting of two young women, pleaded โnot guiltyโ at his arraignment on Wednesday.
Nickelson is charged with two counts of first degree murder for the deaths of 19-year-old Ashley Morlte and 20-year-old Destiny Compton. He fled to Houston after the shooting and was later captured and sent back to Rapides Parish. He remains behind bars on a $2 million bond. A trial has been set for April 25, 2022. SIMMESPORT, La. (KALB) - Authorities in Simmesport are looking for a suspect they are considering armed and dangerous.
On October 7, the suspect, Anthony Williams, 33, got into a verbal altercation on Pecan Street in Simmesport. Police said he then pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired one shot, striking a victim in the abdomen.
Alexander was air-lifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and is now in stable condition. โI want justice. I want justice for my cousin because no matter what a person has done in their life, no matter their past, no one deserves to be hurt, shot, stabbed...he didnโt deserve that,โ said Anais Brown, Alexanderโs cousin. Simmesport Police Chief Daniel Firmin said Williams is still on the run and considered armed and dangerous. PORTLAND, Ore. โ Twin brothers from Gresham are facing federal charges for illegally purchasing 82 firearms from gun shops in the Portland area, dating back to April 2020. Officials said those guns have been linked to at least 10 shootings in the Portland area.
Edward Charles Green and Thomas Edward Green III,l both 23, are self-identified members of the Unthank Park Hustlers, a local Bloods gang set, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Oregon. They are charged with falsifying information in connection with the acquisition of a firearm and making false statements in a federal firearms licensee record. Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) opened an investigation in May 2021, according to court documents, after receiving information from Gresham Police and the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) that allegedly connected the Green brothers to several shootings. ATF agents had also received information that suggested they had made multiple illegal firearm purchases, the U.S. Attorney's office said. Baton Rouge police had found the teenager with Oge Joseph Monyei, 23, of Baton Rouge, and Madelyn Elizabeth Stafford, 19 of Walker, during a traffic stop on January 14. The victim was returned to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services in Rapides Parish.
Following an investigation, it was determined the teen was a victim of child sex prostitution. An arrest warrant was obtained for both Monyei and Stafford for one count each of trafficking of children for sexual purposes. On June 30, Monyei was taken into custody by U.S. Marshalls in Baton Rouge. He was transported and booked into Rapides Parish Detention Center where he is currently being held on a $300,000 bond. On October 1, Stafford was taken into custody by U.S. Marshalls in Baton Rouge. She was later transported and booked into Rapides Parish Detention Center where she is currently being held on a $100,000 bond. HISPANIC CRIME: Deadly altercation caught on camera before suspect fled the scene 
SAN ANTONIO โ A 21-year-old man wanted in the shooting death of another man turned himself in to authorities following a manhunt, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Luis Angel Alvarado was charged with murder in the Sept. 20 shooting at the Granada Apartments in the 1400 block of Somerset Road, not far from South Zarzamora Street, SAPD states. His bond is set at $250,000.
Authorities have accused Alvarado of gunning down 31-year-old Santos Cedillo in an altercation in the parking lot of the complex, where both men resided. An arrest warrant affidavit states that an argument between the two men erupted after Alvarado arrived in his vehicle. The altercation was caught on video by a witness, police said. Alvarado held a semi-automatic handgun in his right hand as Cedillo stood about 8-10 feet away from him, the affidavit stated. The men threatened to assault each other, and Alvarado kept pointing his gun at the other man โseveral times as they walked through the parking lot,โ investigators said. In the video, a woman is overheard possibly speaking to a 911 dispatcher about Alvarado having a gun. Cedilloโs spouse also tried to intervene, police said. After several minutes, Alvarado raised his handgun and fired multiple times at Cedillo, striking him in the torso. He died at the scene. Police said the suspect got in his vehicle and fled northbound on Somerset Road. Last week, SAPD released a bulletin with information about the wanted man. A second suspect in the alleged burglary-turned-murders of a Twiggs County husband and wife who were found shot to death Sept. 11 made his first appearance in court Wednesday, where a judge formally read the charges against him.
Wayneaire Mendez Lester, 45, of Macon, was arrested Monday in connection with the slayings of Fred and Peggy White. Another man, Charles Edward โBo-Boโ Rowland, 49, of Macon, was arrested Sept. 13 after investigators tracked him to a home in south Macon. Around the same time, Lester was also arrested in south Macon and jailed on unrelated burglary charge. He remained locked up at the Bibb County jail until Monday when he was charged for his alleged role in the White coupleโs deaths. Investigators believe the killings happened on Sept. 10 when Rowland allegedly burglarized the Whitesโ home. Officials have yet to say publicly how Lester may have been involved. ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCSC) - Deputies arrested an 18-year-old Orangeburg man in connection to a September shooting that killed two women.
Jamore Ellison was charged with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriffโs Office. Investigators say on September 12 around 3:40 a.m. four women were traveling on Coleman Avenue towards their homes when another car cut them off and shot at them. Two women were killed in the incident, another was injured and the fourth was unscathed. |

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richmond County Sheriffโs Office has taken into custody a teenager being sought in connection with a shooting death a couple of weeks ago.
The incident was classified as an involuntary manslaughter.
The shooting was reported at 10:39 p.m. Sept. 22 in the 1500 block of Central Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies found a female victim who had been shot at least once in the head. That victim was pronounced deceased on the scene at 10:50 p.m. Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen identified the victim as Meshela Dukes, 18. Investigators issued a warrant for Tyquan Dukes, 17, on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter. In addition, Sihita Dukes, 32, was wanted for questioning. Authorities announced Monday morning that Tyquan Dukes had been taken into custody. He was booked into Richmond County jail on Sunday on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and possession of firearm or knife during a crime, according to jail records. Sihita Dukes has been questioned, according to deputies. An incident report states Tyquan Dukes was not related to the victim but the two lived in the same house. |

NEW BERN, N.C. โ A Henderson man charged with shooting a Raleigh police officer almost three years ago pleaded guilty Thursday to federal offenses.
Cedric Jamal Kearney, 26, was sentenced to 21 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to carjacking, use of a firearm in a crime of violence and possession of a stolen firearm. Only the stolen firearm charge was in connection with the Jan. 9, 2019, shooting of Officer Charles Ainsworth, however.
Ainsworth was following up on a report that a car stolen at gunpoint five days earlier had been spotted in southwest Raleigh when he was shot several times, including in the neck. Kearney was apprehended about a half-mile from the shooting scene after an intense manhunt. Police K-9s tracked him to a storage shed after he accidentally locked himself inside and couldn't get out. During questioning by investigators, Kearney admitted that he and his girlfriend used a dating app to lure a man, and Kearney stole the man's Dodge Dart, cellphone and wallet by threatening him with a gun, according to applications for warrants to search Kearney's cellphone, the Dart and the girlfriend's cellphone. The federal carjacking and using a gun in a crime of violence charges were linked to that incident, according to federal court records. Kearney also admitted to investigators that he had broken into a home in Holly Springs hours before Ainsworth was shot and had stolen several guns and other items, according to the warrant applications. Kearney still faces state charges of attempted murder, two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm in connection with Ainsworth's shooting, according to court records. โToday was a good day for both the Ainsworth family and the justice system," Acting U.S. Attorney G. Norman Acker III said in a statement. "The court sent a very clear message that these type of assaults on law enforcement simply will not be tolerated." WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - A suspect in last monthโs deadly shooting at a downtown Wichita, Kansas, nightclub has been arrested in Arizona.
Keshawn Maurice Dawson, 23, was taken into custody Friday in Phoenix with assistance from the United States Marshalโs Service, Wichita police said in a news release.
Authorities are seeking extradition, The Wichita Eagle reported. He is wanted in Kansas on murder and other charges in the Sept. 7 shooting that killed 34-year-old Preston Spencer and wounded five women. Police said Dawson had been involved in a fight inside the Enigma Club & Lounge earlier in the night and was kicked out by club employees. Detectives believe Dawson returned a short time later and opened fire with a handgun from the sidewalk through the clubโs front door and windows. Spencer, a well-known local bartender, shielded his pregnant cousin with his body when shots were fired. Dawson then fled in a dark-colored vehicle driven by someone else, police said. At the time of the shooting, Dawson was wanted on two felony arrest warrants, and was a convicted felon prohibited by law from owning a gun. MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) โ A jury has convicted a man first-degree murder for the fatal shooting of another man last year in Marshalltown.
Mustafa Muhammad was convicted Wednesday of the murder count, as well as a count of reckless use of a firearm, for the March 2020 death of 27-year-old Blake Thomas.
Police said a 37-year-old woman also suffered a minor injury in the shooting. The 31-year-old Muhammad has claimed the shooting was in self-defense. He faces a mandatory life term in prison when heโs sentenced next month. |

The Aiken County Sheriffโs Office received a report on Sept. 17 stating 25-year-old Raquan Walker sexually assaulted a 13-year-old female victim on multiple occasions.
Arrest warrants state the incidents occurred between April 16, 2020 and June 2020.
Walker was detained on Thursday and was taken to the Aiken County Detention Center.
He was charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the second degree and two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the third degree.

PORTLAND, Ore โ An Oregon jury on Tuesday found a member of the far-right group the Proud Boys guilty of assault, menacing and unlawful use of a weapon for pulling out a loaded revolver, firing paintballs and spraying bear mace at people during Portland protests last year.
Prosecutors called Alan Swinney a โvigilante cowboy,โ while Swinney and his lawyer argued he was acting in self-defense against โagitatorsโ who wouldnโt stop harassing him. The charges stem from demonstrations on Aug. 15 and Aug. 22, 2020, as clashes erupted between right-wing and left-wing groups armed with paintballs, bear mace, pepper spray, umbrellas and shields, The Oregonian/OregonLive reported. A manhunt got underway in Georgia on Saturday after a police officer working his first day with a local force was shot dead outside a police station.
Police Officer Dylan Harrison, 26, was killed early Saturday morning in Alamo, about 124 miles west of Savannah, FOX affiliate WGXA-TV in Macon reported.
It was Harrisonโs first shift working part-time with the Alamo Police Department. He was already a full-time Oconee Drug Taskforce Agent since 2018. Authorities identified the suspect as Damien "Luke" Anthony Ferguson, 43, and said he should be considered armed and dangerous. A reward of $17,000 was being offered for information leading to Fergusonโs arrest. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp posted a message on social media about the tragic loss of Officer Harrison. "Early this morning, one of our law enforcement officials in Middle Georgia was killed in the line of duty," Kemp wrote on Twitter. "Our thoughts and prayers are with this officerโs family, friends, and colleagues at the Alamo Police Department. May God continue to be with all who protect and serve." SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- A Springfield man has been arrested in Florida after fleeing the state in connection to the murder of a Chicopee woman, police report.
34-year-old, Kaysone Walters was arrested in Lakeland, Florida on Thursday.
This is according to the Springfield Police Department. On August 11th Brianne Boisselle was found with multiple stab wounds on Baldwin Street in Springfield. While officers tried to save her life, she ended up succumbing to her injuries and died on scene. Police say in mid-August they were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Walters on Murder and Armed Carjacking charges. "After an exhaustive search, members of the Springfield Police, U.S. Marshals Service, Massachusetts State Police VFAS and Hampden County Sheriff's Department developed information that Walters fled the state after the issuance of a murder warrant and was in Lakeland, Florida," explains Ryan Walsh, public information officer for the Springfield Police Department. We're told on Thursday U.S. Marshals in Florida went to Madison Avenue in Lakeland, FL and spotted Walters. According to Walsh when Walters noticed police, he fled, but was apprehended on Walter Street in Lakeland, FL. "Walters was processed at the Polk County Sheriff's office. KING COUNTY, Wash. โ A man suspected of murdering 20-year-old Zoey Martinez in an alley in Seattleโs Phinney Ridge neighborhood has been arrested, the Seattle Police Department said Wednesday.
SPD investigators, along with U.S. Marshals, arrested Jacaree Hardy in Renton without incident, officials said.Hardy, 23, was wanted for second-degree murder, and detectives thought he might have been in the Seattle area or in Portland. Martinezโs body was found on Sept. 1 by an early-morning jogger who spotted her motionless in an alley near North 73rd Street and Greenwood Avenue North on Wednesday. At about 5 a.m., the jogger flagged down officers, who found the woman dead in the alley. She was shot multiple times. Investigators collected possible evidence at the scene, and the King County medical examiner later determined the cause and manner of death, which was ruled a homicide. Martinez, who lived in Maple Valley, disappeared after sheโd arranged to meet Hardy. Her parents say she met him on Facebook. They say Hardy owed her money, but they arenโt sure why. Investigators say Martinez was nervous to meet Hardy and had asked her friends to go in a separate car. They arrived a couple of minutes late, as Hardy was driving off with Zoey in the car. After a short chase, Hardy got away with Zoey. Martinezโs friends reported the incident to the police. Her parents filed a missing person report. Early the next morning, her body was found. As for Hardy, detectives are questioning him, and he is expected to be booked into the King County Jail. Zoeyโs friend showed detectives that Facebook page under the name "Rarrii Been On" that Hardy allegedly used to contact Zoey. Hardy has three felony convictions for Fraud as well as Forgery and Theft. He was sentenced on March 22, 2019 on Forgery charges to 40 months. He was from prison to work release on June 17, 2020 until his time was up on December 2, 2020. Zoey asked a friend who knew about Hardyโs history of Fraud to be in the area because of safety concerns. The friend was delayed and as soon as they pulled into the parking lot, they told police they saw Hardyโs Lexus drive off with Zoey in the front passengerโs seat. They tried to follow but say the Lexus hit speeds topping 100 mph and lost them after they ran a red light. (Black) Senior Living Center Resident Charged With Killing 2 Staff Members
A 63-year-old senior living community resident in Maryland has been charged with fatally shooting two staff members.
Roy Batson is accused of killing Mackeda Evans and Michelle Boateng, both 46. Boateng also lived at Gateway Village, where the shooting took place, WJLA reported.
Capitol Heights Police were called to facility for a disturbance shortly after 9 a.m. and encountered a young man running from behind a building. He told officers there was an active shooter inside. Officers found the first victim in a corridor and the second further into the building. At that point, they ordered an evacuation of the building and called Prince Georgeโs County Police for backup. Police located Batson on the third floor and took him into custody without incident just before 10:30 a.m. A man who asked not to be identified said that Batson was angry with staff. โAnd he snapped went down there and shot two of the managers,โ he said. Other sources told WJLA that Batson had been fired from a maintenance job at the facility. Police said a preliminary investigation indicated Batson confronted Evans earlier about a prior dispute over a violation notice. He reportedly admitting going to his apartment for a gun and then returning to an office area on the first floor, where he shot the victims. Batson has been charged with two counts of murder. A U.S. Army sergeant accused of fatally shooting a pregnant woman who was carrying their unborn son in Troup County earlier this week was arrested Thursday in North Carolina, authorities said.
Alonzo Dargan Jr., 30, was taken into custody at Fort Bragg, where he was on active duty as a staff sergeant, Troup County Sheriff James Woodruff said Friday morning during a news conference. Atlanta police officers knew they were chasing a stolen vehicle. But when the car crashed, one of the people inside was already a familiar name: He is a suspect in a July double homicide.
Officers tracked the stolen vehicle from the ground and the air Thursday, prompting the three people inside to flee into nearby woods, the department said. The car crashed and officers were able to arrest two of the three people.
Jontravious DeโAnthony Arnold, 18, already had outstanding arrest warrants for two auto thefts when he was charged in connection with a July double homicide, according to police. But he eluded capture until he was caught in the stolen Mazda 6, reported missing Wednesday when its owner left it running while she picked up food on Spring Street, according to police. On July 15, two men and a woman were outside the PickโnโPay at the corner of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard and Chappell Road when shots were fired, according to police. When officers arrived, 36-year-old Joshua Evans was dead from his injuries. A second man, 42-year-old Chicorley Vickers, was also shot and taken to the hospital. A DeKalb County woman who fatally shot her husband while he was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher was convicted Saturday in the 2019 killing, authorities said.
Aimee Heyward, 48, killed her husband Bruce during an argument at the coupleโs Lithonia home, police said previously.
Officers were called to the house on Edenberry Way on Feb. 25, 2019, after receiving reports of a person shot. Investigators said Bruce Heyward, 49, was found in the entryway of the home with a gunshot wound to the chest. โThough he struggled to talk, he was able to tell responding officers that his wife shot him,โ DeKalb prosecutors said. Bruce Heyward was rushed to a hospital, but later died of his injuries. Investigators said the shooting was the second time police had been called to the home that night. Earlier, DeKalb police responded to a domestic dispute between the Heywards, but neither was willing to leave the home for the evening, authorities said. Police separated the two into different bedrooms and left. Hours later, Bruce Heyward called 911 and said his wife forced her way into his room and held a gun to his head. โWhile the victim was on the phone with 911, the defendant fired a shot, striking him in the chest,โ prosecutors said. โThe gunshot was captured on the 911 call and heard by the coupleโs 16-year-old daughter, who rushed downstairs to her fatherโs aid.โ |

A man is facing a murder charge for allegedly beating a Hamilton man to death last month at his Knightsbridge Drive residence.
Larry C. Ingram, 58, of the 400 block of Knightsbridge, was fatally assaulted at about 10:50 p.m. Sept. 29 apparently by a man who called 911 for help, but didnโt know where he was.
Kahreem G. Brown, 24, with no address listed, was initially charged with murder by Hamilton police and booked into the county jail. On Wednesday, Brown was indicted by a Butler County grand jury for murder and felonious assault. According to the Butler County Coronerโs Office, Ingram died of blunt force trauma and his death was a homicide A person called 911 telling the dispatcher. โSome guy might need some help. LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) โ Ronald Donovan, a Florida man is facing murder charges after a woman riding on his motorcycle died following a high-speed shootout with a rival biker gang, authorities said Saturday.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that the 33-year-old woman died hours after she was shot in the head early Friday in the gun battle on Interstate 4 between Lakeland and Orlando. Donovan, who is jailed without bond, was scheduled to have an initial court appearance Saturday. Court records did not list an attorney for him. Investigators said the shooting began when members of the Thug Riders passed the Sin City Deciples on the interstate. Donovan allegedly shot and wounded a Thug Rider in a battle between motorcycles at speeds of more than 100 mph (160 kph), leaving bullet casings scattered on the highway. Although Donovan is not accused of shooting his female companion, under Florida law committing certain felonies that result in an indirect death can be charged as murder. |

A homeless woman was arrested on Saturday in connection with a choking attack on a teen girl outside a Queens sushi restaurant.
Minerva Martinez, 36, was charged with strangulation in the assault, which occurred at about 5:15 p.m. Monday at Watawa Sushi on Ditmars Boulevard in Astoria, according to police. (Black) Suspect charged with capital murder in morning east Jefferson County killing
A suspect is in custody after a deadly shooting Friday morning in eastern Jefferson County.
Terrell Maurice Watts, 39, is charged with capital murder. Authorities have not yet released the name (or the race) of the victim.
Investigators believe the shooting happened near the Charter East Apartments in Center Point. Someone then drove the wounded man to Bama gas station where he was pronounced dead on the scene. Jefferson County sheriffโs Sgt. Joni Money said deputies responded to the Center Point Parkway gas station just before 5:30 a.m. Investigators believe the victim was in the front passengerโs seat and the suspect in the back seat when the deadly shooting happened. A motive has not been released, but the charge is capital because it happened in a vehicle. Authorities quickly identified the suspect, and patrol and K-9 units mounted a search. A 31-year-old fugitive from Middlesex County has been arrested in connection with fatally shooting a man from Mercer County in the head during a robbery, authorities said.
George A. Briscoe of Edison was arrested Wednesday in Edison by members of the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force and police from Hamilton and Edison, authorities said.
Briscoe was arrested and charged in connection with the alleged murder, by shooting a man in the head in a parked car last month, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri. Dashawn Womack, 39, of Hamilton was killed in the shooting, the prosecutor said. Briscoe was charged with murder, felony murder, robbery and multiple weapons offenses, Onofri said. The prosecutorโs office has filed a motion to detain Briscoe pending trial. At about 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, Hamilton patrol officers reportedly found Womack in a parked vehicle on Rosalie Avenue, adjacent to Victor Avenue. DeKALB, Miss. (WTOK) - Kemper County investigators have arrested a woman after they say she set her house on fire.
It happened Wednesday in the 300 block of MLK St. in DeKalb. Sheriff James Moore says Shana Little, 25, got into a disagreement with her childrenโs father. (Black) Jackson man sentenced to 47 months in federal prison for 2020 bank robbery 
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - A Jackson man who plead guilty to robbing a bank last December, will spend the next three years and 11 months in federal prison.
October 5, Richard Dewayne Jiles, 42, was sentenced to 47 months behind bars, a little less than a year after he robbed the Trustmark Bank on Medgar Evers Boulevard. Jiles was indicted on the charge in February and entered a guilty plea in June, according to a release from the U.S. Attorneyโs Office. He was also ordered to pay $4,240 in restitution. Jiles entered the Trustmark branch on December 3 and handed the teller a note demanding money. In the note, he threatened to kill the teller if she did not hand over $5,000 in cash. |

John Kenneth Adams, 53, is wanted out of Lynchburg for failing to re-register as a sex offender. He last registered on June 1, 2021.

Police arrest (black) suspect in September road rage shooting
CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - Chesterfield police have arrested a suspect in relation to a shooting following a road rage incident.
Sean M. Jolley, 22, of Petersburg was arrested on Tuesday. He was charged with with felony assault, shooting at an occupied vehicle and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
He is currently being held without bond. Police said the shooting happened in the 2800 block of East Hundred Road on Thursday around 5:40 p.m. Officers said a silver Nissan sedan pulled up beside the passenger side of the victimโs vehicle. Thatโs when the driver fired a single shot at the victimโs car. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. |

HENRICO, Va. (WWBT) - Henrico police say a man has been arrested in a domestic-related homicide.
On Oct. 1, police received a domestic-related call for assistance in the 2200 block of Shirleydale Avenue at 10:43 p.m. Dispatchers received additional information about a female being shot inside the residence, and a male leaving the house in a vehicle towards Darbytown Road.
When officers arrived on the scene, they located a female. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Police say James Stevenson, 59, was arrested 15 minutes after the initial call and was charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The victim was identified as 47-year-old Maria Elaine Gillette, both were domestically related. The caller, a juvenile was unharmed. |

A New Mexico man who was on probation and wore an ankle monitor is accused of killing his wife with an ax after police used GPS data from the device to find her body.
Armando Zamora, 35, was charged Monday with an open count of murder in the first-degree in the death of 39-year-old Erica Zamora, who disappeared on Sept. 26. New Mexico State Police got involved in the case on Oct. 1 and learned that on Sept. 26, Zamora and his wife went to cut wood in the Gila National Forest. Zamora initially told investigators that they returned to his Silver City home together afterward, according to a state police press release. Police discovered that Zamora was on probation for criminal sexual contact of a minor under 13 and had been fitted with an ankle bracelet. New Mexico State Police investigators obtained GPS coordinates where Armando and Erica had been cutting wood," the press release states. "A sergeant searched the area and located a deceased female matching the description of Erica Zamora." |

MOORESBURG, Tenn. (WJHL) โ A Telford man and Mooresburg woman are facing several charges โ including first-degree murder โ after investigators found the burned body of a man on Sept. 20.
Police identified the victim as Jacob Britt Sawyer, 26, of Erwin. An autopsy revealed he had been shot multiple times and then set on fire, leading investigators to rule his death as a homicide. A release from the Hawkins County Sheriffโs Office revealed Jordan Vance Coleman, also known as Jordan Vance Way, 23, and Isabelle A. Krueger, 22, were both charged with the following: first-degree murder conspiracy to commit a first-degree murder felony murder especially aggravated kidnapping possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony abuse of a corpse tampering with evidence Both had been named as people of interest in the case and were indicted on those charges by a Hawkins County Grand Jury on Oct. 1. They are both being held in the Hawkins County Jail, where Coleman is held on a $1 million bond, and Kruegerโs bond is set at $750,000. They will appear for an initial court hearing on Dec. 10 in Hawkins County Criminal Court. The initial report said that deputies responded to Substation Road after receiving a call at 10:30 a.m. and discovered the body of a man that had been burned. HOUSTON - A Harris County jury has found David Conley guilty in the 2015 mass murder of eight people, including six children.
The victims were his (white) ex-girlfriend Valerie Jackson, 40, her husband Dwyane Jackson, 50, and six children. The names of the children are Nathaniel, Honesty, Dwayne Jr., Caleb, Trinity and Jonah. The youngest child was 6 years old while the oldest was 13. The oldest, Nathaniel, was Conley's own son.
All of the victims were shot in the head. "How could anyone look into the eyes of children handcuffed to their beds and slaughter them one by one?" Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said in a statement. "We are forever indebted to the jurors who listened to the excruciating evidence, thoughtfully deliberated, and delivered justice." A Cantonment man is accused of abusing an elderly person and the battery of his girlfriend.
Joseph Terry Jones, 35, was booked into the Escambia County Jail on charges of abuse of an elderly person domestic violence and battery domestic violence. Jones is accused of getting into an altercation on the back deck of a home with his live-in girlfriend who was โbegging for mercy and for someone to get him off of herโ, an Escambia County Sheriffโs Office report states. Police have made a second arrest in connection with a mass shooting at a northwest Miami-Dade banquet hall that left three people deadand

Warneric Buckner, 20, was arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts of first-degree murder and 20 counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the May 30th shooting. According to an arrest report, Buckner identified himself as a passenger in the Nissan Pathfinder that was caught on camera as being at the scene of the shooting. Buckner said he aimed a large firearm and fired into a crowd of people, but could not recall how many shots he fired, the report said. On September 24th, 22-year-old Davonte Barnes was arrested and booked into the Miami-Dade jail on the same charges as Buckner. Barnes admitted to acting as a lookout for the shooters, telling investigators he spoke with the other suspects involved before the shooting took place.

(Black) Man charged after woman launched 30-feet off I-85 overpass, GSP says
ATLANTA - A man was arrested for reckless driving after Georgia State Patrol troopers said he struck two vehicles and forced one stranded motorist to fall from an Interstate 85 overpass while he was racing another car along the busy highway.
Horace Maurice Dillard, Jr., was booked into the Fulton County jail on Monday. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Dillard was racing another car down I-85 just south of Piedmont just after 4 p.m. when his car struck a Kia Optima, sending it spinning into the emergency lane. Troopers then said he hit a Chevrolet Cruz that had broken down and was in the right emergency lane. Leslie Camille Reese who was outside the car at the time waiting for a friend to pick her up, was launched from the overpass as a result, troopers said. She landed about 30 feet down on a lawn along Plasters Avenue NE. Reese was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. According to family members, it will take at least three months until she is able to try to walk again. Dillard was charged with reckless driving, too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane, improper lane change, and serious injury by motor vehicle. According to jail records, he was released on bond and must wear an ankle monitor. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The suspect in a deadly home invasion over the weekend that killed a Rhodes College student is now in custody.
Memphis police confirm 36-year-old Rainess Holmes was captured around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday on Powell Avenue in Binghampton by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force. Holmes was named as a suspect Monday in the Sunday morning shooting of Drew Rainer, a senior at Rhodes College. He was later named to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigationโs Most Wanted List. Charges include first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery and especially aggravated burglary among others. Rainess Holmes has black hair and brown eyes. Heโs 6โ2โ, and weighs 165 pounds. He should be considered armed and dangerous. A reward of up to $2500 is being offered for information leading to his arrest. An alert from Rhodes College Campus Safety that same day warned students and parents to be cautious, saying Holmes targeted student housing in recent days. Rhodesโ interim president said Rainer was a 2018 graduate of Christian Brothers High School majoring in English. BLACK-ON-WHITE: Suspect arrested in deadly Amtrak shooting in possession of bulk marijuana
TUCSON (KVOA) - The individual arrested in connection to Monday's downtown shooting that left a Drug Enforcement Administration agent dead was identified in court documents obtained by News 4 Tucson on Tuesday.
On Monday, Devonte Okeith Mathis was arrested on drug charges after he and an unidentified individual were allegedly caught in possession of a large amount of marijuana during a routine interdiction on an Amtrak train stopped at the downtown train station, located at 400 N. Toole Ave. According officials, the unidentified individual and Mathis were reportedly sitting in the back row of the train stationed when a DEA agent observed Mathis reportedly retrieve several bags. When the agent asked Mathis about the bags, he allegedly denied that the bags belonged to him. However, after he removed the bags from the train, the DEA agent opened one bag and said he found "two packages of bulk marijuana." Two other DEA special agents, one of which was identified by the Associated Press as Mike Garbo, to speak with the unnamed individual who accompanied Mathis on the train. After consenting to a K-9 sniff of his bags, the unidentified person reentered the train. After Garbo and the other DEA agent received word about the two packages of marijuana, the two agents approached the unnamed suspect on the train. Upon contact, the unidentified individual reportedly shot and killed Garbo and shot the other DEA agent several times. Officials say a Tucson Police Department officer was also shot and injured in connection to the incident. INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) โ Two people were found dead in an apartment on the cityโs southeast side Friday morning, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
The Marion County Coronerโs Office on Monday identified them as Savannah Blevens, 34, and Anthony Henderson Jr., 35. Blevensโ death was ruled a homicide; Hendersonโs death was ruled a suicide. Police were called about 10 a.m. Friday to check on the welfare of people in an apartment complex in the 7800 block of Tanza Road. Upon arrival, officers found Blevens and Henderson dead with gunshot wounds. A New Jersey man who used dating apps to lure and kill three women five years ago was sentenced Wednesday to 160 years in prison after a trial in which it was revealed that friends of one victim did their own detective work on social media to ferret out the suspect.
Khalil Wheeler-Weaver, 25, sat motionless as the judge gave the sentence in state court in Newark. The sentencing was preceded by emotional statements by family members of victims Robin West and Sarah Butler.
In a brief statement before they spoke, Wheeler-Weaver denied responsibility, telling Superior Court Judge Mark S. Ali that he was framed. Wheeler-Weaver's mother, aunt and brother sat in the gallery but didn't address the court. The sentences covered three murders, one attempted murder and other counts including kidnapping, aggravated arson and desecration of human remains. The Essex County prosecutor's office had credited friends of Butler, a college student from Montclair, with using social media to help police find Wheeler-Weaver. They gained access to her social media accounts, set up a fake account, lured Wheeler-Weaver to a meeting in Montclair and notified police, according to prosecutors. A fourth woman who survived an attack and testified at Wheeler-Weaver's trial also provided crucial information that helped investigators, since the details of her attack were similar to those of the other victims. At Wednesday's sentencing, Tiffany Taylor described how the attack changed her life. "My whole life is different; I don't wear makeup anymore; I don't have friends. I'm always paranoid. But I'm happy to still be here," she said, before addressing the judge with, "I hope you don't show him any remorse, because he's not showing any remorse." Prosecutors presented evidence at trial that Wheeler-Weaver, then 20, used the dating apps to lure the women for sex and then strangled them. Their bodies were found between September and December 2016 in northern New Jersey. Investigators also presented evidence from Wheeler-Weaver's cellphone that placed him where the victims disappeared and where their bodies were found. Assistant Essex County Prosecutor Adam Wells noted Wednesday that the killings were separated by weeks, giving Wheeler-Weaver a chance to contemplate his actions before killing again. "The defendant believed these victims were disposable. They were killed and then he went on about his day as if nothing had happened," he said. "But each of these women's lives mattered." West, a 19-year-old from Philadelphia, was seen getting into a car with Wheeler-Weaver the night of August 31, 2016, and was killed within the next few hours, prosecutors said. They alleged Wheeler-Weaver dumped her body in an abandoned house not far from his own house in Orange, near Newark, and set the house on fire. It took about two weeks to identify her remains. West's mother, Anita Mason, described a sometimes headstrong young woman who often showed a softer side. "I will never forget her smile, her face, her walk, her desire to help homeless people," Mason said Wednesday. "The world focuses on the last month of her life. She had a whole entire life before her demise. Hundreds of people were affected by her life and were saddened by her death." Joanne Brown, 33, of Newark, was killed about a month after West was identified and also dumped in an abandoned house in Orange, but her body wasn't discovered until six weeks later. Butler disappeared around Thanksgiving 2016, about a month after Brown was killed, and her remains were discovered in a wooded area four days before Brown's body was discovered. Both women had been strangled with clothing. On Wednesday, Butler's father, Victor, urged the judge to give Wheeler-Weaver the maximum sentence. HOUSTON โ A 17-year-old accused of hitting and killing three valet employees in the Galleria area Friday night appeared before a judge Wednesday morning.
Ahmedaltayeb Modawi, 17, is charged with three counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault in connection with the deaths of Fnan Measho, Eric Orduna, and Nick Rodriguez. His total bond was set at $350,000 -- $100,000 for each murder charge and $50,000 for the aggravated assault charge. Modawi, who is still in high school, is not allowed to drive without permission, has a curfew and is must surrender his passport. The teen has been living in Houston for more than five years with his family. What happened Prosecutors said the night of the crash Modawi, who was also working as a valet, and another valet employee took a customerโs car without permission to do donuts in a parking lot. Houston police said a sergeant on patrol saw a vehicle doing donuts in a private parking lot in the Galleria area. Moments later, the vehicle started driving eastbound on Fairdale. The sergeant turned on his emergency lights to try to stop the driver, and within seconds, police said the vehicle sped away. Prosecutors said Modawi was speeding going 60 mph, double the speed limit, before crashing in the in the 6200 block of Fairdale. That is when police saw him and he sped off leading them on a brief chase going about 60 mph, prosecutors said. Modawi crashed less than mile away. Modawi is accused of hitting Measho, Orduna, and Rodriguez as they were returning from parking cars, prosecutors said. He struck the three victims before drivig [stet] through a ditch and striking pole coming to a stop. Prospect Park said all three of the valet employees worked at their restaurant. Modawi appeared before the judge in hospital scrubs and with a walker. The teen suffered a broken leg during the deadly crash. Five months after Houston police announced 10 arrests in connection with robberies committed in the Galleria and other affluent areas of the city, the department said they have now identified a total of 24 people as part of the organized ring that targeted high-end property and firearms, and, in some cases, left innocent people dead.
On Monday, HPD laid out the details of a crime group it said was responsible for a multitude of crimes during this year, including the murders of an off-duty New Orleans detective and his friend at Grotto restaurant back in August. A man has been charged with murder after a 71-year-old woman was found dead outside a Texas McDonald's, police have said.

On Twitter, Sheriff Gonzalez said in an arrest update on October 6: "Andrew Williams [40] has been charged with capital murder in the death of Mrs. Martha Medina (71). "Williams was arrested today and is now in the Harris County Jail. He was out on bond in connection to a previous capital murder." Sheriff Gonzalez said in an earlier tweet about the incident that Medina "was possibly robbed of her purse and the suspect allegedly ran over the female as he fled the scene." It added Medina was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead on September 23. According to ABC13, police records show Williams was out on bond for the capital murder charge of Chima Ogbonnaya from March 2019. It said Williams allegedly tried to rob Erik Richardson and during the attempt killed Ogbonnaya. The network added Sheriff Gonzalez had called the McDonald's where Medina was run over by the car a "hub of the community" where "coffee with a cop" events are regularly held. He later told the network Medina was at the McDonald's by herself and had parked close to the entrance. Sheriff Gonzalez added Medina might have tried to take a photo of the suspect before she was run over. Timothy George Simpkins is an 18-year-old Texas student who is the suspect arrested in a shooting at Mansfield Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas. Police said Simpkins fled from the school after the shooting and they are searching for him. Four people were injured and three were taken to the hospital after the shooting on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, police said. GRANDY, N.C. โ A woman is accused of kidnapping five children in Grandy, North Carolina, after crashing her car Sunday on U.S. Route 158.

After the man got out of the car to help the crash victims, deputies say Markell Hancox, from Chesapeake Virginia, jumped into the driver seat and drove away. She headed north on US-158 and pulled into the parking lot of the Hopp Inn in Grandy, officials said. She was arrested shortly after running away from the SUV. Deputies rescued the five children, and even though they were "extremely shaken," they were not harmed, officials with the sheriff's office said. A St. Paul man has been charged with murder after he fatally shot his wife in the back of the head during a dispute involving their teenage daughter.
Court records indicate 46-year-old Johnny Ray Aldridge has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a woman in her 40s.
The woman has yet to be identified, however, the Ramsey County Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide. A criminal complaint explains what transpired as follows: On Tuesday, Aldridge showed up to the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center and told officers he shot his wife in the head and killed her at a residence along Winnipeg Avenue in St. Paul. He was then taken into custody. When asked why he shot his wife, Aldridge replied with, "Because my daughter is pregnant and she had grown men coming down doing crazy s--- to my daughter." He claimed his daughter needed a rape test kit conducted on her. However, upon speaking to police, Aldridge's daughter stated she was not pregnant and had not been sexually assaulted. The teen said she believed her father said that because "she had severe menstrual cramps" over the weekend. She further denied being sexually active. The girl was taken to Midwest Children's Resource Center, where a pregnancy screening test came back negative. According to the complaint, Aldridge's daughter said her father's behavior had changed when he was shot in the hand while in their garage in June and that he had PTSD. He reportedly faced challenges in staying in the home, leaving twice during the summer after the shooting. The daughter said he carried a gun after the June incident because "he's scared." She also advised police that her mother and Aldridge had been fighting over the past few days before the incident. Aldridge agreed to speak to investigators without an attorney after being advised of his rights. He told police that his wife had become "weirder and weirder" after he was shot in the hand this summer. During an argument centered on the daughter, Aldridge said his wife laughed off an allegation Aldridge had made. Becoming angered, Aldridge said he shot his wife in the back of the head. At 9:40 a.m. today, the Henry County Sheriffโs Office responded to a 911 call and found two persons bleeding in the road of the 6000 block of Old Paris-Murray Rd. Deputies and the Emergency Medical Services personnel responded.
Upon arrival, Officers determined the two individuals to be Lonzie Dunlap III, 30 years of age, and Kristen D Warren, 39 years of age, both of Henry County. According to the sheriffโs office press release, Dunlap and Warren were found lying at the rear of a vehicle and appeared to have suffered from apparent gunshot wounds. They were both airlifted to medical facilities in Nashville. Lonzie W Dunlap III was pronounced deceased upon arrival in Nashville. The 61-year-old, Ernest Johnson, currently held at Bonne Terreโs state prison in Missouri, admitted to killing manager Mary Bratcher, 46, and employees Mabel Scruggs, 57, and Fred Jones, 58 at a Caseyโs General Store in Columbia on Feb. 12, 1994.
During the 1994 robbery, Johnson shot and attacked his victims with a claw hammer. Bratcher was also stabbed in the at least ten times with a screwdriver, according to KSDK, and Jones was shot in the face. He hid their bodies in a walk-in cooler onsite.
Allegedly, Johnson was addicted to and under the influence of crack cocaine at the time of the brutal slayings.
Officers found a bag containing $443, coin wrappers, partially burned checks and tennis shoes matching bloody shoe prints found inside the store at Johnsonโs girlfriendโs house.

TAMPA โ In early September, members of the U.S. Marshalโs Task Force converged on an apartment near the University of South Florida.
There, they arrested 28-year-old Quandarious Hammond, wanted in an assault at a Tampa gas station. At the time, records show, Hammond was also a person of interest in a homicide in the city of Tampa a week after the assault โ on Aug. 22.
Thatโs the day 4-year-old Suni Bell was fatally shot while riding in the back of a car on East Hillsborough Avenue, making her one of the youngest victims in a surge of gun violence that has gripped parts of the city. This week, six weeks later, a grand jury indicted Hammond and four other men in Suniโs killing. Hammond was already in jail and being held without bail at the time of the indictment. EASTPOINTE, Mich. โ A Detroit resident has been charged in connection with the murder of a man who was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds inside an Eastpointe home, authorities said.
Eastpointe police were called around 1:20 p.m. Sept. 29 to a home in the 2400 block of Ridgecroft Avenue, where they found a 38-year-old Eastpointe man had been fatally shot, according to officials. Police said the man had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. On Friday (Oct. 1), authorities arrested Danny Darnell White, 32, of Detroit, in connection with the case. Police said they performed search warrants and discovered evidence linked to the murder. White is facing charges of first-degree premeditated murder, possession of a weapon by a felon and two felony firearm violations. The first-degree murder charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison. Authorities are searching for 36-year-old Termaine Anderson, who is wanted for capital murder in the death of Ryan Montgomery on August 10. According to reports, Anderson was seen driving in a silver Honda Accord that he used to pick up Montgomery on the day of the incident. The vehicle has since been located after it was burned. A missing persons report was issued for Montgomery prior to his death, when authorities located his body on the 100 block of Valley Street in Benton. According to police, on Oct. 4, 2021, a probable cause was established and a Murder warrant was issued for Antoine Dante Bell in connection to the death of Salaysia Duerner.

According to an Horry County Police incident report, Eddie Lee Ford, 66, was arrested early Sunday morning after officers responded to a home on Donnie Circle and found the victim on the front porch with a visible gunshot wound. The report said Ford was sitting in a recliner near the front door when officers arrived. Ford was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Sunday and released. According to jail records, he was given a $10,000 bond on the attempted murder charge and a $5,000 bond on the weapons charge. |

A Lancaster man has been charged after city police say he sexually assaulted and impregnated a teenage girl who later gave birth to his child.
Alembe Harambe Dunia, 25, was charged with statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor.
The girl, who police say knew Dunia from the community, allowed him into her Manor Street apartment in late evening hours sometime between Sept. 20 and Sept. 23, 2019, according to an affidavit of probable cause. Dunia, who was 24 at the time, then sexually assaulted the girl, impregnating her in the process, police said. The girl later gave birth to a child in July 2020. Investigators began looking into the assault after it was reported to them in December 2019. Dunia consented to a saliva sample for a DNA analysis in June 2021. That analysis indicated Dunia was the childโs father with a "99.99999 degree of certainty," according to the affidavit. Dunia, who is AKA Bakari Sumalli, is free on $100,000 unsecured bail, court records show. He will face a preliminary hearing before Judge Adam Witkonis on Oct. 12. Dunia has previously pleaded guilty to fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and numerous traffic violations in 2019, to which he was sentenced to up to 23 months of confinement and a year of probation, according to court records. FRESNO, Calif. (KGET) โ An undocumented immigrant who lived in Bakersfield has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for distributing methamphetamine, according to federal authorities.
Rodolfo Cardenas-Lara, 44, has previously been removed from the U.S. on five occasions, according to the release from the U.S. Department of Justice, Eastern District of California.
A co-defendant, Cesar Larios-Ortega, 40, was sentenced in July to seven years in prison, the release said. He also lived in Bakersfield.
The men had two meetings in May 2019 where they sold 12 pounds of meth to a customer in Kern County for $1,750 per pound, according to the release.

BLACK-ON-WHITE: (Black) Roanoke man charged with murder of (White man) in shooting at convenience store
A 20-year-old Roanoke man is accused of murder in a Wednesday night shooting that left another man dead in a city convenience store, according to the Roanoke Police Department.
The gunfire happened about 9 p.m. at the A&A Cash Market at the corner of Moorman Avenue and Seventh Street Northwest. Store owner Ayeda Sati said the man killed was an employee.
โWe are just so upset and so sad,โ she said Thursday. โWe are grieving for his family. Itโs hard for them. Itโs hard for us. We need prayers.โ Sati, whose family has owned the neighborhood store since 2018, said investigators had shared little information and the motive for the shooting remained unknown to her family. A police spokeswoman said no information about a possible motive could be released Thursday. The investigation is ongoing. The man accused in the slaying, Jamerius Crennell, was apprehended shortly after the gunfire, authorities said. A patrol officer who had been passing by the store parked across the street after noticing someone going into the shop. Officials said they couldnโt disclose Thursday what prompted the officer to stop. But, seconds later, they said the officer heard gunshots inside the store and saw someone flee outside on foot. The person was caught, and the police reported finding a gun as well as an undisclosed amount of money on him. The victim of the shooting died at the scene. His identity will be released once his family has been notified. Crennell, who is listed as being held in jail without bond, has been charged with second-degree murder. A judge ordered no bond Friday for Ladell Thornton, suspected in Thursday shooting death of Christopher Gradoville.
Gradoville was killed outside a rental property near 62nd and Pratt as Gradoville arrived to complete some maintenance at the house. He had recently remodeled the home, and Thornton had rented it from an agency.
"All murder cases are sad but this one is particularly, it's sickening. It's devastating. There aren't words to describe. It's unimaginable," said Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine. The 43-year-old Thornton is charged with first degree murder and weapons charges in the case, as well as being a prohibited person. Thornton has more than 300 entries on his criminal record. "Prohibitive means you possessed or had a firearm and you shouldn't have one in the first place because you are a convicted felon," Kleine said. Gradoville suffered mulitple gunshot wounds. Kleine said at least a dozen shots were fired by the gunman. Prosecutors offered no motive for the shooting during Thornton's court appearance Friday afternoon. "It appears he was simply gunned down," Kleine said. "All he was doing was his job, doing some maintenance work at the house." Gradoville was volunteer director of operations for the Creighton University baseball program and was a catcher for the program from 2004-2007. Watch here for more on Gradoville. Prosecutors asked the judge to not give Thornton a bond, stating he has 316 entries on his criminal record. They said Omaha police responded to the home on Pratt Street after getting a call for shots fired. Officers found Gradoville on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They said Thornton, the renter of the home came outside and made "incriminating statements." The public defender's office asked for a bond saying Thornton is "a lifelong resident of Douglas County, a father of six children and self-employed barber." The judge said, due to the nature of the accusations, he ordered Thornton held without bond. At the time of the shooting, Thornton was out on bond for a different case. He's charged with strangulation and terroristic threats against his ex-girlfriend from a June incident. According to court documents, the woman said when she refused Thornton's sexual advances, "he grabbed her by her wrists and threw her to the ground. Thornton then back mounted the victim and palced his hands around her neck and began choking her to the point that she lost the ability to breath freely. The victim stated Thornton was yelling, "B**^^*you know who I am? I'm gonna kill you B**^*^. The victim stated she genuinely believed that she was about to die. " "We had asked for a bond review on that case. We thought the bond was too low and the judge agreed with us to put another 75,000 on top of that," Kleine said. Thornton was able to post $15,000 of the $150,000 bond. Thornton's preliminary hearing in the murder case is set for Nov. 19. TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A Bullard man will start a life sentence in prison after pleading guilty in the death of a 77-year-old man.
Brentavian Keshawn Henderson, 25, pleaded guilty to charges of murder and aggravated robbery Monday in Judge Kerry Russellโs court. Henderson accepted a 40-year sentence on the second charge, which will run after the life sentence.
Henderson was arrested in Feb. 2019 after Roy Bowins was found dead in a shed on his property. Henderson had killed Bowins while stealing a car and two televisions from his home. Henderson was indicted on a capital murder charge. Russell accepted the agreement for Henderson to plead to the lesser charge. Because the charges are stacked, it will be at least 50 years before Henderson is eligible for parole. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Henderson and two others stole Bowinsโ TVs and traded them for crack cocaine then rented his vehicle to a prostitute for $5 around Nov. 13 of that year. The two others charged in connection with Bowinsโ death, Krystal Dixon, 28, and Tationna Mosley, 22, both of Tyler, were arrested and charged with murder. I ask my mom, I go, โwhat is he doing out there?โ She says, โhe has scissors and heโs cutting the grass blades so theyโre all even,โ" she said. Rogers describes Roy and her mom Margaret as each otherโs companions. But it didnโt always seem that way. โAt first they seemed kind of opposite, but they do say opposites attract," she said. They took care of each other and had an unbreakable bond, she said. They even had a special nickname for each other. โThey called each other Shugs or Shutters," she said. Rogers said her mom suffers from dementia and is taking Bowinโs passing the hardest. โWe donโt actually know how much sheโs processed from it. I believe sheโs heartbroken," she said. CANTON โ A Stark County jury found Trejuan Johnson guilty of murder and numerous other charges for the shooting death of (UNARMED) 19-month-old toddler Ace Lucas.
Johnson, 24, of Canton, and two other men targeted the Lucas family's Clarendon Avenue SW home on July 22, 2020, unloading 23 shots as two adults and five children slept.
Ace Lucas was struck three times while on the couch.
His twin, ArCel, was wounded by a single bullet and survived.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The woman charged in the 2017 death of a 2-year-old boy in Philadelphia's West Oak Lane section has been sentenced to 23 to 47 years in prison.
According to District Attorney Larry Krasner, Jedayah Nesmith had previously pleaded guilty to Third Degree Murder, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Abuse of Corpse, and related charges in connection with the death. According to investigators, in February 2017, the child's mother asked Nesmith, with whom she was romantically involved, to take temporary custody of the child due to a change in the mother's work schedule. The mother kept in contact with Nesmith, who claimed multiple times that the child was living with her mother in the Poconos. Authorities discovered the child's body on March 22, 2017 after Nesmith arranged to pay her ex-boyfriend $1,000 to dispose of the body. The man discovered the body in the apartment and called police, officials said. The Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office determined that the child likely died from numerous physical injuries to the head and body, in addition to starvation and dehydration. Antifreeze was also found in the child's system. |

GARY โ A woman faces a murder charge after fatally shooting her cousin while driving on the Indiana Toll Road, police said.
The shooting took the life of 27-year-old Kevin Pruitt, of Chicago
On Tuesday afternoon Illinois State Police and the Gary Police Department contacted Indiana State Police to investigate a homicide that happened in an unknown area on the Indiana Toll Road, said Indiana State Police Sgt. Glen Fifield. Gary police initially were called to Methodist Hospitals Northlake campus where a male gunshot victim had been driven to the emergency room. As officers continued their investigation, they found out that the shooting happened while Pruitt was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle driven by his cousin. Police said 26-year-old Ayana Rashawnda Jamerson, of Gary, drove the victim to the hospital, in addition to another individual who was also in the vehicle. Jamerson gave police inconsistent versions of what happened and also provided several different names of her identity, Fifield said. It was then discovered that Jamerson had shot her cousin following an argument, police alleged. Pruitt was airlifted from Gary to a hospital in Chicago, where he later died. |

Malcolm Kadeem Roberts, 25, of Tyler, and Desnique Herndon, 25, of Jacksonville, are named in the six-count indictment.
According to the text of the indictment, both men โrecruited, enticed, harbored, transported, provided, obtained, advertisedโ or benefited financially from children engaging in a commercial sex act.
The recently unsealed indictment says
five of the victims were under the age of 18 and one was under the age of 14. The indictment lists three other defendants.
Roberts and Herndon were indicted on July 21. They are set for a pretrial conference on Feb. 3.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott released a video Saturday of Texas National Guard "gearing up" at the U.S. southern border in response to a large migrant caravan approaching the U.S. southern border.

"They are working with the Texas Dept. of Public Safety to seal surge locations at the border & arrest trespassers." About 20 minutes later, just a few blocks away at Avenue U and East 29th Street, police believe the same assailant struck again, this time with his friends. Authorities said a 64-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk when a group of individuals approached him and punched him in the face, unprovoked. He suffered bruising to the face and was treated on the scene by EMS. A few hours later, around 8 p.m., a 76-year-old woman was walking on Avenue Y, near Brown Street, when the same unidentified teen approached her and asked a question, officials said. Robeson County deputies arrest (black) 16-, 19-year-olds in deadly August shooting; one still wanted
ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) โ Robeson County deputies arrested a 16-year-old and a 19-year-old in a deadly shooting in August on N. Alford Road in St. Pauls, according to the sheriffโs office.
Fredrick D. Hall, 19, and a 16-year-old were arrested and charged with first-degree murder, felony conspiracy, and discharging a weapon into an occupied/moving vehicle, according to deputies. Gary Alford, 19, of Lumber Bridge, is also charged with first-degree murder, felony conspiracy, and discharging a weapon into an occupied/moving vehicle. Alford is still wanted by deputies. Hall was taken to the Robeson County Detention Center without bond on the first-degree murder charge and a $500,000 bond on the remaining charges, according to deputies. The juvenile is held in the Cumberland Regional Juvenile Detention Center. Deputies were called at about 11:39 p.m. Aug. 26 to the 800 block of N. Alford Road, where they found Demarko Locklear, 20, of St. Pauls, with a gunshot wound, according to the sheriffโs office. He was taken to New Hanover Medical Center where he died. |

SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Michigan (WNEM) -- After hours of searching, investigators tracked down a local man wanted for questioning in the death of his wife.
Saginaw Township Police were called to a home on Lamplighter Drive near Hospital and McCarty Wednesday afternoon. Upon arrival, they found 49-year-old Shantina Davenport-Mitchell dead inside.
Investigators quickly launched a search to find the womanโs husband, Lonnie Mitchell Jr. Mitchell is now in jail awaiting formal charges. "I never thought that he would do something like this," said Dasia Parker, Mitchellโs daughter. Police are seeking murder charges against Mitchell for his wifeโs death. She was found dead in the couple's Saginaw Township home Wednesday. Parker said she just spoke with her on Monday. "Shantina just started telling how like he been like not himself lately and she don't want him back in the house and stuff like that," Parker said. Parker said the pair had a troubled marriage. She also said her dad was taking medication. "I'm not going to say he's crazy but like he takes medication just to be right in the head. Like I don't know, it's like I'm shocked but then I'm not," Parker said. Shortly after Davenport-Mitchell was found, authorities named her husband as a person of interest. Detectives got a tip Mitchell was at a home in Flint. That is where he was taken into custody in the early hours of Thursday morning. "He came out peacefully with no problem or anything like that. Came out and was brought back here to the police department, was interviewed by detectives, and then once the interview was completed, the detectives felt that they had enough probable cause to make the arrest for murder in this case," Saginaw Township Police Chief Donald Pussehl said. Huntsville police have identified a man they are seeking in connection with a fatal Thursday shooting.
Police say Deonte Shavon Shelton, 27, has murder and robbery warrants following a shooting incident at 4116 Newson Rd. on Thursday at 12:17 p.m. Shelton is accused of shooting and killing the victim, Tyron Williams, 54, following a verbal altercation between the two at Winter Park Apartments. Investigators say they believe the incident was drug-related, and both Shelton and Williams were living at the complex. Late Thursday afternoon, investigators served a search warrant on an apartment where Shelton is known to live. The leaseholder, Teonna Breonshea Ray, 22, was arrested and booked into the Madison County Jail around 7:45 p.m. for possession of marijuana, drug trafficking - opium, possession of drug paraphernalia and two drug possession charges. Ray bonded out of the jail shortly after midnight with a $23,800 bond. BIRMINGHAM โ A Jefferson County grand jury indicted two people with homicide-related charges on March 4, 2021.
Jatavius Jamar Foster, 32, and Iesa Collins, 36, were charged with body abuse and arson, while Collins was also charged with murder.
The couple are accused of killing Terrence Jerome Hardy, 39, and then attempting to burn his body to cover up the crime. Hardy was found dead in his apartment in Wood Station Place on March 4. The indictments were filed on Friday September 24 and made public on Thursday September 30. Foster was arrested later in March and remains in Jefferson County Jail on $ 75,000 bail. Collins remains behind bars on $ 175,000 bail. Hardy was found dead in his apartment on March 4. Birmingham police officers and fire and rescue workers responded shortly after 9:30 p.m. on the night of the murder to a report of an apartment fire in block 100 of the apartment complex where Hardy lived. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found Hardy unconscious inside the apartment. Investigators say he was shot before being set on fire. No trial date has been set and no motive has been given for the murder. |

New Orleans police have identified a suspect in the Bourbon Street stabbing that hospitalized one victim.
Errol Toney, 31, is wanted for an aggravated battery by cutting incident.
At approximately 8:17 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22, Toney got into an argument with a 25-year-old man at the intersection of Bourbon and St. Louis streets in the French Quarter, the NOPD reports. Toney pulled out a weapon and stabbed the man, police said. Toney then fled, authorities said. An ambulance took the victim to the hospital. Two men accused of wounding two teenage gang members in a drive-by shooting in downtown Yakima are being held on $500,000 bail each.
Efren, 33, and Isidro Acevedo, 26, were returned to Yakima from San Diego on Wednesday by Yakima police gang unit detectives and a Homeland Security Investigations agent. The pair, wanted for a Sept. 14 shooting that left two teenage gang members wounded, were arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents Sept. 19 when they reentered the country from Mexico, according to Yakima police. They are charged with first-degree assault, drive-by shooting and unlawful firearms possession in connection with a drive-by shooting on North Sixth Street. Deputy Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney Heather Thorn said the bail should remain in place for concerns of public safety and the fact that both men, who are cousins, went to Mexico after the shooting. Police say the incident began when someone fired on Efren Acevedoโs home in the 900 block of East Chestnut Avenue shortly before noon Sept. 14. The Acevedos then pursued the car in their own vehicle, police said, firing multiple shots at it on North Sixth Street near East Lincoln Avenue. McLoone initially was accused of stealing nearly $100,000 from the St. Joseph parish in Downington, but he eventually reached a plea deal with Chester County prosecutors. He has been on administrative leave since his resignation from St. Joseph in 2018. Prosecutors said McLoone diverted funds into secret accounts and misappropriated fees charged to parishioners while also doubling the amount he collected as a stipend for each Mass, wedding and funeral. They said he used the money to pad his salary and for a beach house in Ocean City, New Jersey, as well as for men he was dating. McLoone disclosed the theft to church officials when questions were raised about payments he made during a routine audit in late 2017. That led to an investigation by the archdiocese, and authorities began their probe about a year later. BLACK-ON-WHITE: 66-year-old (White) man dies after Wichita shooting by (black)
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - The family of a 66-year-old man says he has died after he was shot in southeast Wichita last week.
At around 6:20 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, Wichita police responded to a shooting in the 900 block of South Mission. Upon arrival, officers found the victim and a 37-year-old man with gunshot wounds and a 5-year-old boy who was grazed by a bullet on his back shoulder.
The victim was transported to the hospital where he later died, according to his family. The 37-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and the 5-year-old boy was treated on the scene. An investigation revealed 18-year-old Teviaun Sebastian, of Wichita, went to the home on Mission and asked for the 37-year-old man. When the man came to the door, Sebastian reportedly fired multiple rounds at the man and grazed the boy on the front porch as well. Sebastian then ran on foot to the south and shot the victim who was standing outside. Several shots struck a neighboring house of the 37-year-old and several witnesses were outside at the time of the shooting who were not injured. Officers located Sebastian on foot in the 1000 block of South Woodlawn armed with two handguns. Police say Sebastian put down both guns and was arrested without further incident. Sedgwick County booking records show Sebastian is held on one count of second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, four counts of aggravated assault and one count of criminal damage to property. His bond is set at $1 million. The investigation is ongoing and the findings will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office. A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with a Corpus Christi murder, officials say.
Terry Stafford, 29, and Mercedes Martinez, 22, were taken into custody after Corpus Christi Police pursued the suspects in North- Central Texas.
Stafford is accused of shooting 44-year-old James Wesley Lucas Jr. Martinez has an outstanding warrant for failure to report a felony and hindering apprehension. The couple were apprehended for allegedly shooting Lucas at a local Stripes in the 4100 block of Ayers and Horne Rd. on Sept. 20. According to police, the shooting happened just before 5 p.m. Officers found Lucas with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died. MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - A man found guilty of what police say was the first murder in Montpelier in almost 100 years is appealing his conviction to the Vermont Supreme Court.
Jayveon Caballero was found guilty by a jury in November 2019 of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Markus Austin in January 2017. WACO, Texas โ Ten-year-old James Rashad Lewis died of his injuries Wednesday night after Waco police were called to the 2400 block of Washington Ave.
According to a news release, his father Bronchae Lewis, called police around 10:50 p.m. and told dispatchers he thought his son was dead.
When police arrived, they were met at the door by a man, they identified as Lewis, 36, who refused to let them inside. The officers had to force their way in, according to police. Once inside, police said Lewis began fighting the officers. Lewis and the officers suffered minor injuries from broken glass. They were treated and released from the hospital. Police found the boy with what they described as severe and life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police did not release his cause of death. James was a student at Dean Highland Elementary. Friday, Waco ISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon released a statement about his death. โOur staff will tell you that James was a joyful and happy young man. HISPANIC Man accused of shooting service dog, killing White owner 
Police are looking for a man accused of shooting a service dog before killing the animalโs owner last week in Southeast Albuquerque.
Xavier Marquez, 22, is charged with an open count of murder, shooting at an occupied dwelling and extreme cruelty to animals in a Sept. 22 incident that left 34-year-old Shawn Lynch brain-dead and injured Lynchโs dog, Yessica. Lynch was hospitalized and pronounced dead Monday. His service dog, Yessica, was shot in the leg and underwent surgery. An arrest warrant was issued for Marquez on Tuesday. According to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court: Officers responded around 4 p.m. to the 400 block of Kentucky SE after multiple people called 911 to report a man had been shot and was lying in the street. Police found Lynch with a gunshot wound to the head and Yessica wounded nearby. Multiple casings littered the street and a bullet had gone through the wall of a nearby home and was embedded in a womanโs mattress as she slept. Witnesses told police the shooter was a neighbor who changed clothes before fleeing on a moped. Marquez was arrested Aug. 20 after he drove his car, on fire, into a shoe store parking lot, and allegedly punched and bit an off-duty police sergeant. Loco Hispanic Suspect shoots (White) man and (unarmed) dog who were out for a walk ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Authorities are searching for the suspect they believe shot and killed a man last week while he was walking his dog. The dog was also shot that day. According to the criminal complaint, it reports 22-year-old Xavier Marquez killed Shawn Lynch in the middle of the day last week. Witnesses tell investigators, Lynch and his dog Yessica, were walking down Kentucky Street on the Southeast side of town when the dog may have barked at Marquez who was sitting in his truck. The witness said Marquez got out and started yelling at Lynch and Yessica. Marquez then reportedly pulled at a 9mm handgun and shot Yessica point-blank. The complaint then said Lynch was furious and started cursing at Marquez and thatโs when he reportedly turned the gun on Lynch shooting him in the head. โWe have 11,000 to 12,000 Haitians who are stuck in Tapachula, and I say stuck because they are not being given the opportunity to seek refuge in Mexico nor being allowed to proceed to the United States,โ said Garcia, the director of the Center for Human Dignity, an advocacy nonprofit in southern Mexico.

Jeremy Zaloun, testifying Thursday before a Cook County judge in the first-degree murder trial of former professor Wyndham Lathem, said he denied the frightening request by the renowned microbiologist and told him he wanted to leave, the Chicago Tribune reported. "He told me I would leave when he said I could," the 46-year-old military vet told jurors. "I watched him basically turn from Fred Flintstone to Freddy Krueger in about 30 seconds." Lucas, a black woman, pretended to be a white male member of the Ku Klux Klan and described herself as 6 feet tall with a long red beard. โResidents on Manning Drive began receiving the notes last December from a person who claimed to be a white male member of the Ku Klux Klan, who threatened to burn down their homes and kill them, according to detectives with the Douglasville Police Department.โ the police said. โInstead, their investigation led them to Terresha Lucas, a 30-year-old African-American female, who was charged with eight counts of making terroristic threats this month. Accused of writing and placing the notes in her neighborsโ boxes, Lucas allegedly described herself as a six-feet-tall white male with a long, red beard who did not live in the neighborhood.โ they added. Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller, the Marine infantry officer and former battalion commander who made headlines last month for criticizing his chain of command in public is now in the brig and accused of four offenses under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Scheller is accused of the following offenses under the UCMJ: Article 88: Contempt toward officials, Article 90: Willfully disobeying a superior commissioned officer, Article 92: Failure to obey an order, and Article 133: Conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman, a Marine Corps spokesperson told Task & Purpose. However, itโs not yet certain whether Scheller will face a court-martial. The Marine will go through an Article 32 hearing, which will determine whether there is enough evidence to warrant a court-martial. But no matter what the hearing finds, Scheller has already made a name for himself through his viral videos. BLACK-ON-WHITE: Black Man handed 30-year sentence for killing White teen over Xbox
CROWN POINT โ A judge rejected a defense attorney's arguments Wednesday that a 19-year-old man deserved leniency because he was a product of the system and gave him a 30-year sentence for killing a teenager over an Xbox.
Garry L. Higgins IV, of Gary, received the maximum sentence under his plea agreement.
Lake Criminal Court Judge Natalie Bokota said she understood Higgins lived in a "system of disorder and insecurity" for much of his childhood, but billions of people around the world suffer every day but don't victimize other people. "It was not that the system created the disruption, but that the system was trying to intervene with a young person making poor choices," Bokota said. The judge sentenced Higgins to 30 years, with two suspended in favor of probation. Higgins may petition the court in the final year of his sentence to join a Lake County's Community Transition Court, which helps incarcerated people reintegrate into society, she said. Higgins pleaded guilty in July to attempted robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, a level 2 felony, in connection with the June 12, 2019, shooting death of 16-year-old Johnny Peluyera in the 5000 block of Maryland Street in Gary. Higgins admitted in his plea agreement he used the OfferUp app to arrange to meet Peluyera at that location to purchase Peluyera's Xbox. Higgins, Higgins' friend Dezman C. Dukes and Peluyera went to a power outlet at a nearby residence, but a resident came out and the teens moved away. At that point, "a silver handgun with a black handle" was brandished and fired at Peluyera, who walked back to his father's car and died in his father's arms. Peluyera's mother, Kelly Arroyo, said her son was her "light at the end of the day." Johnny Peluyera's father, who is also Johnny Peluyera, said the day he lost his son replays over and over in his mind. -------------------------------------------------- Higgins' first contact with the juvenile system occurred at age 13, and he eventually racked up a total of five juvenile cases that resulted in seven adjudications, attorneys said. In one of those cases, Higgins was sentenced to prison time. He's accused of being involved in a burglary days after his release from prison. Prosecutor: Defendant 'deceitful, defiant' Lake County Deputy Prosecutor Patrick Grindlay said Higgins had more than 50 reports filed against him by jail staff for his behavior and deserved a maximum sentence. The reports showed Higgins to be "violent, deceitful, manipulative and defiant," he said. Higgins attempted to rob Peluyera for money, property or "perhaps just kicks," Grindlay said. "Here we have a truly innocent victim," the deputy prosecutor said. "He was simply trying to sell a video game system." Higgins repeatedly failed at probation or violated probation terms as a juvenile, which showed he was not likely to respond to short-term imprisonment or probation, Grindlay said. "He presents a substantial danger to the community," he said. "Nothing short of incarceration will thwart future danger." MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) โ A Minneapolis woman accused of fatally stabbing another woman in a St. Paul apartment last month allegedly told police she had blacked out due to methamphetamine and alcohol use before the killing.
Susan B. Anthony Davis, 36, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the death of 55-year-old Angela Huntington, according to Ramsey County court documents. A criminal complaint states Huntingtonโs mother and sister found her dead in her apartment Aug. 30 after Huntington failed to show up to take her mother to a dentist appointment. She had been dead โfor some timeโ when they found her. Officers found blood in multiple spots at the scene, and a medical examiner said a wound on Huntingtonโs neck was suspicious. A few days later, police spoke to a man who said heโd seen Huntington at a bar on West Seventh Street the night before she was found dead. Investigators reviewed surveillance video, which allegedly showed a woman later identified as Davis and her father leave the bar in a vehicle with Huntington and an unknown man. The complaint states they were heading in the direction of Huntingtonโs apartment. When investigators put out photos of Davis and the others at the bar, a police sergeant recognized Davis and her father. The sergeant alleged Davis stabbed a person at Concordia University the afternoon of Aug. 30, hours after Huntington was found dead, and that she and her father left the school together. A knife blade was recovered from Concordia, and according to the complaint, DNA from both the Concordia stabbing victim and Huntington were found on it. Police arrested Davis and her father Tuesday. Davis admitted to meeting Huntington and the unknown man at the bar. The complaint states she told investigators they all went to get cigarettes, and then Huntington and the man went into Huntingtonโs apartment. A short time later, she told investigators, she went into the apartment, but later left. She said the unknown man was the last person with Huntington. Investigators accused her of stabbing Huntington, and told her about the DNA evidence from the knife. The complaint states she admitted to drinking and using methamphetamine and had blacked out. Investigators again accused her of stabbing Huntington, and asked what she was thinking. โNo, she โ she seemed like a nice person,โ Davis allegedly said. โShe, she wanted to like โ like she had a death wish. I definitely โ I donโt know why she had it. Definitely, she was begging.โ Davis then said Huntington kept asking her for a joint, and that โmade her lose it,โ according to the complaint. Davisโ father denied any involvement in the killing, and Davis confirmed his denial. According to the complaint, Davis is also charged with threats of violence in Dakota County for allegedly pointing a gun at a family in a park. She is also charged with second-degree assault for the stabbing at Concordia. |
(Black) Salisbury Man Arrested For Holding Deputy At Gunpoint
SALISBURY, N.C. โ Authorities have apprehended a man who they say pulled a gun on a Rowan County sheriffโs deputy, then head-butted her before running off from a fast-food restaurant and prompting a search.
News outlets reported a sheriffโs deputy was going to a drive-thru line early on Wednesday when workers asked her to check on two men who appeared to be passed out in a car in the line, according to a news release. The deputy and a Salisbury police officer dispatched to the scene spoke to one of the men, who kept putting his left hand under his leg despite commands to keep his hands where they could be seen, authorities said. The man jumped out of the car, shoved the weapon into the deputyโs vest and hit her chin with his head before running off, the news release said. Aided by a N.C. State Highway Patrol helicopter, deputies and police located 18-year-old Dayshun Lamont Davis at a home and arrested him without incident. Davis is being held on a $500,000 bond on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon on a government official. Itโs not known if he has an attorney. |

A 96-year-old woman who worked as a secretary in a Nazi concentration camp has been apprehended after attempting to flee from justice.
The woman, identified in German media as Irmgard Furchner, was due to stand trial Thursday on charges of aiding and abetting the murder of more than 11,000 prisoners at Stutthof concentration camp. She was 18 when she worked as a secretary for the campโs SS commander in the 1940s, and she was expected to claim that she wasnโt aware of the atrocities.
However, before the trial could begin, the woman went missing. German media reported that she was spotted leaving her Hamburg home in a taxi Thursday morning and made a beeline for a subway station. Frederike Milhoffer, a spokesperson for Itzehoe state court, said the 96-year-old โdidnโt want to comeโ to court so decided to go โon the run.โ He said that authorities were aware that Furchner was reluctant to go to court but they didnโt expect her to flee because of her age and condition. WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. โ A man and woman are charged in the death of a Winston-Salem woman.
Michele Ruth Lowder, 45, was found dead Monday in her home in the 200 block of Tipperary Lane.
Police were called to check on her when she didnโt report to work.
Investigators found that Lowderโs car had been stolen from her home. Winston-Salem SWAT found the car with Tyree Lashauna Mosby, 18, in it. He was caught after getting out of the car and running from the officers, police said. Investigators learned Mosby was on the run from Pennsylvania, where he is wanted for attempted murder. Further investigation led authorities Alexis Olacia Knox, 19, who was at a hotel. Police said Knox was identified as an acquaintance of Mosby and cooperated with investigators. Forsyth County District Attorney, Jim OโNeill, charged Mosby and Knox with murder, kidnapping and burglary. A 30-year-old man was shot and killed last week in Oak Lawn after another man approached him and demanded money, police said. Dallas police were dispatched to the 3900 block of North Hall Street around 3 a.m. on Sept. 20 where they found the man lying on the sidewalk outside an apartment building with a gunshot wound. Police identified the man as 30-year-old Justin Wayne Thompson. The suspect fled before police arrived. Po lice on Friday released video of a man they described as a person of interest in the killing. He could be seen walking briskly down the sidewalk while looking over his shoulder. Police say Marcus Wayne Brock, 55, dragged 41-year-old Jessica Garza to her death Tuesday while trying to escape after a robbery.
A man with a long criminal history has been charged in the dragging death of a woman who was carjacked Tuesday, according to Houston police.
They say Marcus Wayne Brock, 55, is charged with capital murder. Investigators at the scene said Brock carjacked 41-year-old Jessica Garza while trying to escape after robbing an auto parts store in the 600 block of Uvalde Road. When employees tried to stop him, Brock ran across the street to a church where Garza had gone to pick up a family member, HPD said. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Tuesday that Brock jumped in the victim's car and drove off, but Garza was caught in the seatbelt. She was dragged four or five blocks, and the suspect struck half a dozen other vehicles before he stopped, HCSO said. "He struck numerous cars and objects and the vehicle came to rest, at which time he exited the vehicle and ran," HPD Capt. Belinda Null said. "Unfortunately, she was deceased due to the accident and the fact that she was unable to get herself out of the vehicle due to the seat belt." Police said Garza died at the scene. Brock was arrested at the scene. Court records show he has a long rap sheet dating back to 1985 with charges ranging from drug possession to burglary. BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A judge has sentenced 36-year-old Rayshaun Moore to 32 years behind bars Wednesday for a murder in Bangor last year.
Rayshaun Moore got into an altercation with 25-year-old Demetrius Snow outside a Bangor nightclub last year.
Snow died from his stab wounds. During Wednesdayโs sentencing hearing, Snowโs three sisters and mother gave emotional testimony ranging from asking the judge for the maximum 48-year-sentence, to offering forgiveness. โThe hardest thing I have to do is forgive you,โ said Stephanie Snow, his sister. โRayshaun, what you did to my brother will not and never be right. You took a precious soul from this world. You have hurt his family and the people that loved him. Not only had you taken his life, not only have you damaged ours, but you have ruined yours and will have to live with what youโve done for the rest of your life,โ said Trinidy Snow, his sister. โIโm going to miss the phone calls just to hear my son say, mom I love you. Rayshaun, was it really worth it? I want you to know that you have taken away a brother, an uncle, a son, and a nephew from our family,โ said Sherri Snow, his mom. Before the judge issued the sentence, Moore played a video from his 15-year-old son asking the court for leniency. Moore also apologized to the family. โI am truly remorseful of my part in that night in question. I would like to apologize. I am very sorry,โ said Moore. Ultimately, the judge decided on 32 years in prison, believing the murder was not premeditated but also factoring in Mooreโs previous record of multiple assaults. โOur recommendation is a bit higher than the judge. We felt that there was some element of premeditation. I respect it. Itโs the court that finally makes that decision,โ said Lisa Bogue, Assistant Attorney General. โPleased that the judge ultimately did not go with the 48 years that the state was asking for. 32 years, although it is not what we were hoping for, we believe itโs a fair sentence in this case,โ said Hunter Tzovarres, defense attorney for Rayshaun Moore. |

(Black) Man wanted in connection with 9 different ATM robberies in west Houston
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police need your help finding a man they say is behind at least nine aggravated robberies at ATMs in west Houston.
The robberies date back to December 2020.
In the most recent case, which unfolded on Aug. 3 at around 11:35 p.m., police say a woman was taking out cash from an ATM in the 11600 block of Westheimer Road.
She said a man suddenly appeared with a gun and asked for her money. Police say the woman drove off and left the man standing in front of the ATM with her account information still accessible. The suspect got away with $400, according to investigators. All of the robberies happened at ATMs along Westheimer Road in west Houston, just past the Beltway. At one point, according to police, the suspect hit two different ATMs on the same day. Investigators believe the suspect lives in the area. He's being described as a Black man in his late 20s who's about 6 feet tall. Investigators say he has a darker complexion with a slim build and has short dreadlocks with gold or brown tips. HISPANIC CRIME: Merced pizzeria shooting now homicide after victim dies from injury 
A 38-year-old man is dead and
two others suffered gunshot wounds after shot rang out Monday night during a fight at a Mountain Mikeโs Pizza in Merced.
The suspect in the case has been identified as Adrian Diego Calderon, 21. Calderon is a validated gang member, according to police.
Merced police have not released a possible motive for the shooting, which erupted after a fight between two groups of people, police said in a news release. Officers responded to several shots fired calls at the 1348 W. Olive Ave. restaurant just after 7:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Chris Russell. Police confirmed there were three gunshot victims, one of whom later died. His identity has not been released, pending notification of family or next of kin. The other two injuries arenโt believed to be life threatening, according to police. Calderon was detained at the scene by one of the victims. Police say he fired numerous rounds inside the pizzeria after the fight broke out. According to the Merced County Superior Courtโs database, Calderon had an active warrant for his arrest. The $5,000 bench warrant was issued August 17 by Judge David Foster for failure to appear in court on a misdemeanor battery charge. Calderon he was treated for injuries he received during the incident and later booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of a single count of murder and two counts of attempted murder. Police say no one outside of the two groups involved in the fight were injured. Police said the restaurant was packed because viewers were watching the Las Vegas Raiders play the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football. Delowar Mohammed Hossain, 36, faces terrorism charges over his alleged plot to join the extremist group that prosecutors say he spent a year planning, according to The Washington Post.
"He wasnโt just any other traveler โ he was on a mission to Afghanistan to join the Taliban and kill Americans and he was on his way," Assistant U.S. Attorney Ben Schrier said on the first day of the trial in Manhattan. Hossainโs attorney, however, contends he was just a "wannabe playboy" who decided to leave his wife and family to fly to Thailand to meet girls. Schrier said Hossain planned to go from Thailand to Afghanistan and he had already bought supplies to survive in the country. Hossain read al-Qaeda literature that gave instructions on bomb-making and jihad and only decided against bombing a New York City military installation because he didnโt think he could kill enough people, Schrier alleged, the Post reported. He added that prosecutors have a recording of him saying he wanted to kill Americans. He also allegedly told undercover informants that he was trying to throw off investigators by frequenting bars and strip clubs, which wouldnโt be allowed for a strict Muslim and encouraged the informants to "get dirty" with forbidden Muslim behavior themselves to fool law enforcement. But his defense attorney, Andrew Dalack, called Hossain a "hypocritical" Muslim with a "wild imagination," claiming his suitcase was packed with stylish clothes, perfumes, lotions for wooing women in Thailand. A Dayton police officer who was shot in the side of his head last week received handshakes and praise from fellow officers and speakers Monday afternoon during the annual Montgomery County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony.
Officer Thadeu Holloway attended the event which honors the 40 officers county-wide who have died in the line of duty. Along with honoring those officerโs sacrifices, those in attendance also took time to speak with Holloway. โHavenโt we just witnessed in these last days the transformation of tragedy into triumph?โ Keynote speaker Dr. Col. Kathy Platoni asked during her speech. โThis, Officer Holloway, is what valor, courage and true heroism look like.โ The officers and those in attendance gave Holloway a round of applause and many took time after the ceremony to greet him and wish him well. Holloway was shot in the side of the head on Sept. 21 in the 600 block of Ingram Street as he was investigating a fraud complaint. โThe officer fell to the ground and immediately returned fire with five rounds, striking the suspect multiple times. Despite his injuries, the officer was able to effectively request assistance for himself and the wounded suspect,โ Interim Director and Chief Matt Carper said. โThe officer also provided for the safety of witnesses and bystanders by directing them to a place of safety.โ Carper said Holloway showed โremarkableโ calmness and professionalism in the moments following the shooting, even refusing to leave as the first backup arrived wanting to wait for more units to ensure the public was safe. The alleged shooter, 39-year-old Antwyane Lowe, is charged with counts of felonious assault and other charges and is currently incarcerated in the Montgomery County Jail. FAYETTEVILLE โ Police say a suspect has been arrested in the June 24, 2020, shooting death of Federico McDaniel.
Tequan Smith was arrested Monday in connection with capital murder for McDanielโs death, according to information from the Fayetteville Police Department. Smith is being held in the St. Francis County Jail in Forrest City on other charges, including a different capital murder charge. Deputies at the jail on Monday served Smith with a warrant for capital murder issued by Washington County Prosecuting Attorney Matt Durrett. According to information from police, officers were called to 296 N. Platinum Drive on June 24, 2020, on a report of a man dead at that location. The man was identified as McDaniel and his death was determined to be a homicide. Court records indicate McDaniel, 30, of Greenland, was shot twice in the face during an attempted robbery. Smith, 25, has a last known address of Hughes in St. Francis County, according to information from the St. Francis County Jail, which he was booked into on Aug. 8 in connection with capital murder, conspiracy to commit capital murder, aggravated assault, theft of property, escape and endangering the welfare of a minor. He is being held with no bond set. Fayetteville police said the investigation is ongoing. |

A Midland man was into custody Tuesday by New Mexico State Police after a warrant was issued for capital murder related to a shooting that occurred Monday in Midland.
The Midland police reported Tuesday that a warrant had been issued for Kionne Gevaughn Lewis, 29, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and capital murder. Lewis was wanted for his role in a shooting that took place Monday afternoon in the 3400 block of North Midland Drive. Midland police reported that they responded to that area of northwest Midland, where they discovered a female, identified as 28-year-old Travae Jackson, deceased with multiple gunshot wounds inside her apartment. MPD also reported that an adult male also sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Midland Police Department Crimes Against Persons detectives and Crime Scene Unit were notified and responded to the scene. During the course of the investigation, Lewis was positively identified as the person who killed Jackson and shot the adult male. |

CHICAGO (CBS) โ A Calumet City man has been charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a Chicago police officer over the weekend in the South Shore neighborhood.
Aaron Jenkins, 26, is charged with two felony counts of attempted first-degree murder, and one felony count of aggravated battery.
Police said Jenkins was identified as the man who shot at two police officers Friday night while they were responding to a shooting near 72nd Place and Jeffery Boulevard, wounding a 30-year-old officer. Police said that officer and her partner were just a block away around 10:50 p.m. Friday, when there was a confrontation in a building where two people had just gotten home with a pizza. An 18-year-old man was shot and killed, A 15-year-old boy was also shot, and was in fair condition at Comer Childrenโs hospital. Police said when an officer arrived on scene, she got out of her squad car, and felt pain in her leg. She realized sheโd been shot, and drove herself to University of Chicago Medical Center. โIโm taking myself to the hospital. Iโm taking myself. U of C!โ the officer told a dispatcher over her police radio. Sources said she received staples and stitches, later expressing gratitude to her fellow officers. โI just want to say thank you to everybody that responded, and Iโll be back soon,โ she said over the police radio. Jenkins and one other person were arrested at the scene. Jenkins was due to appear in bond court Monday afternoon. The wounded officerโs name hasnโt publicly been released, but police said sheโs 30 years old, and has been on the job two years. Sheโs the 12th CPD officer shot this year, and the 46th shot at. She is recovering at home, and Police Supt. David Brown said, even after being shot herself, the officer expressed concern that she was not able to help one of the victims. โOne of the things she conveyed to me is that she didnโt get a chance to apply a tourniquet to one of the wounded men out there. She said, โI got out of the car, and I was shot. I was trying to stop the bleeding for one of the victims that was shot.โ Itโs just extraordinary commitment, extraordinary police work,โ Brown said. Police release video of (Black) suspect, vehicle connected to Cambridge road rage stabbing

The Cambridge Police Department has released surveillance video in the hopes of identifying and finding the suspect connected to an apparent road rage stabbing.
Cambridge police said they responded to a reported stabbing outside of the Best Buy at the CambridgeSide shopping mall on CambridgeSide Place at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The victim, a 34-year-old man, was taken to an area hospital with a stab wound to his stomach. Police said the victim was conscious and alert before he was transported to the hospital. On Monday, Cambridge police said the victim had undergone surgery to treat his non-life-threatening injuries. The victim told police that an unknown man started to honk at him from behind Saturday night. The man then got out of his vehicle and approached the victim. The victim then got out of his vehicle and an argument ensued, which led to a physical altercation. According to police, the victim stated that he attempted to defend himself from the attack and recalled the suspect punching him in the face, as well as stabbing him once to the right side of his stomach. The suspect is described as a thin, Black man in his 20s with a beard who appears to have several tattoos on his left arm and possibly on his neck. According to police, the suspect left the scene in a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser with a sunroof and an unknown license plate. Cambridge police shared surveillance video Monday night that depicts the suspect's initial altercation with the victim, as well as the PT Cruiser driving away after the stabbing. Cops busted a homeless sex offender in connection to an attempted rape on a Manhattan subway train last month, authorities said.
Sinke Zewge, 39, was arrested around noon Monday โ about eight weeks after he allegedly approached the 40-year-old victim on a northbound C train, pulling into the last stop at 168th Street in Washington Heights Aug. 3, police said.
He demanded money from the victim before he slammed her into the train car seats and strangled her until she temporarily lost consciousness in the 9:45 p.m. attack, cops said. He then placed his hands inside her bra and attempted to rape her, police said. When the train arrived at the station, the sicko allegedly dragged the woman onto the platform before taking off. Zewge was charged with attempted rape, robbery, assault, unlawful imprisonment and criminal obstruction of breathing, cops said. He is listed as a Level 2 sex offender in connection to the June 2010 attempted rape of a 22-year-old woman, records show. He was convicted in 2011 and released on parole in 2017, according to state correction records. Zewgeโs post-release supervision is set to end in June of 2022. Mayor of Arizona border town says he is declaring โstate of emergencyโ over illegal immigration
A mayor in an Arizona border town has revealed he's declared a "state of emergency" for his area due to surge in migrants at the US-Mexico border in recent weeks.
Mayor Chris Riggs of Gila Bend said he was forced to make the declaration after federal officials revealed busses of people would be dropped into his town of fewer than 2,000 residents for a few days until they could be placed. " Border Patrol let us know that they were going to be dropping migrants that had been detained for 72 hours in our town, which we really didn't understand because we have nothing here," Mr Riggs said. "We have no charity organisations that can help, no nongovernmental organisations that a lot of the larger cities and towns do have to assist these people." The town is located halfway between Sonoyta, Sonora, Mexico, and Phoenix, Arizona, making it a stopway point for migrants. Border Patrol agents in Texas discovered two stash houses just a stoneโs throw from the U.S.-Mexico border packed with nearly 100 illegal immigrants.
Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents and other law enforcement agencies discovered the first stash house at a home on Ligarde Street Thursday afternoon. The individuals were from Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador, and Honduras, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said. The second discovery came the following evening. Border Patrol agents received a tip about several illegal immigrants being housed at a home on Philadelphia Street โ about five miles northwest of the first stash house. Arizona border flares up as new illegal immigration hot spot
Itโs not just Haitians, and itโs not just Texas where the border seems out of control.
Some 3,400 migrants โ most of them Brazilian, Venezuelan or Cuban โ were mired in Border Patrol holding facilities in Yuma, Arizona, over the weekend, according to the sheriff, who said he has never seen such unruliness.
Video shows long streams of migrants walking around the border wall and surrendering to authorities. Most of them figure they will be caught and released, and many of them are right. โItโs getting a lot worse,โ said Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot. โIโve never seen it this bad with Border Patrol having to hold so many, and dealing with the issues weโre dealing with now because the administration wonโt enforce the law.โ Agents have been pulled off the line to shift to caretaking duties. Sheriff Wilmot said he can drive a 20-mile stretch of the border and see only a handful of agents because โeverybody else is busy processingโ the thousands of migrants in custody. That leaves the border open to migrants who want to slip through unnoticed and to smugglers carrying a surging amount of drugs such as fentanyl, the sheriff said. On Sept. 22 alone, the Border Patrol in Yuma apprehended 1,000 people. The number on a typical day is 600 to 700. A year ago, at the end of the Trump era, it was 25 to 35 a day, the sheriff said. Police said that a shooting broke out in the Riceville area Saturday afternoon that left four dead, with a 10-month-old child involved. The child is safely with CPS.
RICEVILLE, Tenn. โ A shooting broke in McMinn County on Saturday and the McMinn County Sheriff's Office said that four people died as a result. He also said a 10-month-old child was taken by suspects involved in the shooting. Sheriff Joe Guy said that officers responded to calls about the shooting at around 9 a.m. on County Road 60, west of the Riceville community. When deputies arrived, they said they found two witnesses who had escaped the shooting and directed them to a home. There, deputies found one man and three women dead from gunshot wounds. They identified the victims as Trevon Hall, 36, Skylar Hawn, 24, Jesse Dupree, 40, and Brandi Harris, 39. The sheriff said that looked like there were originally six people at the home, and that a male suspect and female suspect arrived there after 8 a.m. He identified the suspects as Curtis D. Smith, a 38-year-old man from Etowah and Jazzmine J. Hall, a 27-year-old woman from Athens. He said it looked like there was a dispute between Hall and the male victim over a 10-month-old child. The sheriff said they are the child's parents. He said that at some point, the dispute turned violent and four people were shot. One witness escaped, police said. Another pretended to be injured and survived the shooting, according to a release from police. The suspects took the child and left, police say. The McMinn County Sheriff's Office said that both suspects in the shooting were taken into custody. Officials said they were found in a home just inside Polk County during a SWAT operation. They also said that the 10-month-old child was safely found and given to the custody of the Department of Children's Services. The Polk County Sheriff's Office helped find them, officials said. Both Jazzmine Hall and Curtis Smith have been charged with four counts of premeditated, felony murders and attempted first degree murder. No bond has been set for the two suspects. "This has been a challenging day for our community, and our prayers continue to be with the families of the victims of this terrible incident," said Sheriff Guy. (Black) Buffalo man facing 'overwhelming' evidence admits 2020 Tonawanda killing
A Buffalo man whose attorney said he faced "overwhelming" evidence against him pleaded guilty on Friday to second-degree murder in a 2020 slaying in the Town of Tonawanda.
Clarence H. Simmons, 34, admitted killing Arielle Johnson, 22, on March 19, 2020, in an apartment on Parkedge Avenue.
Johnson died of blunt force and sharp force trauma, Assistant Erie County District Attorney Ashley Morgan said in court. Simmons and Johnson knew each other, prosecutors said. Defense attorney Robert Cutting said his client would likely be "unsuccessful" at trial and it was in Simmons' best interest to plead guilty to the charge. Police charged a man with murder Sunday after another man was killed in an exchange of gunfire during a domestic dispute Saturday night in Rock Hill.
Rayquan Jamal Steele, 27, is charged with murder, according to arrest warrants obtained by The Herald.
Rock Hill Police say Steele fatally shot Yorel Milton, 22, at an apartment complex on Celanese Road around 10 p.m. Saturday, York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said. The arrest warrant says Milton was shot โmultiple times.โ Steele went to an apartment where his ex-girlfriend and Milton were, police said in the arrest warrants. A (PROBABLY ILLEGITIMATE) child that belongs to Steele and the ex-girlfriend, also was there. Steele left the apartment after first threatening the woman and Milton with the minor child present, the warrants state. Steele then came back with a 10 mm handgun and shot Milton, according to the arrest warrant. Steele was wounded after he and Milton shot at each other, Rock Hill police said in a written statement. Steele was found injured at the scene, officials said. He was treated for his gunshot wounds and then charged Sunday with murder, second-degree domestic violence for threats against the woman with the child present, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to the warrants. The Herald is not naming the woman, who was a victim of domestic violence. Steele faces 30 years to life in prison if convicted of murder, South Carolina law states. The domestic violence charge carries up to three years in prison for a conviction, and the weapon charge carries up to five years. Steele remains in the York County jail without bail after bond was denied in an initial appearance in Rock Hill Municipal Court, records show. |
Police seek public's help identifying black person of interest in rape investigation

(Black) R&B superstar R. "Cornrows" Kelly convicted in sex trafficking trial
NEW YORK (AP) โ R. Kelly, the R&B superstar known for his (messing around with under-age girls) was convicted Monday in a sex trafficking trial after decades of avoiding criminal responsibility for numerous allegations of misconduct with young women and children.
A jury of seven men and five women found Kelly, 54, guilty of all nine counts, including racketeering, on their second day of deliberations. Kelly wore a face mask below black-rimmed glasses, remaining motionless with eyes downcast, as the verdict was read in federal court in Brooklyn. Prosecutors alleged that the entourage of managers and aides who helped Kelly meet girls โ and keep them obedient and quiet โ amounted to (whoremongering) a criminal enterprise. Two people have been charged with Kelly in a separate federal case pending in Chicago. He faces the possibility of decades in prison for crimes including violating the Mann Act, an anti- sex trafficking law that prohibits taking anyone across state lines โfor any immoral purpose.โ Sentencing is scheduled for May 4. |
21-year-old 'Mud man'sentenced to life in prison for 2017 New Yearโs murder 
CYPRESS โ A 21-year-old Cypress man was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of capital murder, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced Monday.
Officials said Christopher Rodriguez was 16 years old when he and another suspect, Faith Deleon, lured two 18-year-olds to a Cypress theater parking lot on New Yearโs Day in 2017 by saying they wanted to buy a small amount of marijuana. According to reports, Daniel Gerding and Colyn Timmons met the duo at the Studio Movie Grill in the 8500 block of State Highway 6. Rodriguez and Deleon got into Gerdingโs Toyota Camry and demanded money, officials said. Then, according to reports, Rodriguez shot Gerding twice in the back and when Timmons tried to get out of the car, Rodriguez shot him in the face. Deleon and Rodriguez fled in their pickup truck and were arrested after an investigation by the Harris County Sheriffโs Office. Gerding died and Timmons survived. |

Black Lives Matter activists in New York are calling out the cityโs leadership over what they believe are racist COVID-19 vaccination requirements.
Since mid-August, the city has required anyone 12 and over to show proof theyโve had at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose for indoor dining, gyms, museums, theatres, and a host of other indoor activities. However, Black residents are lagging behind the overall populations in vaccinations, and some say the rules are disproportionately affecting Black New Yorkers. More than 70% of Black Americans between 18 and 44 in New York City have not gotten the vaccine, a statistic repeated by activist Chivona Newsome at the restaurant protest of Carmineโs Italian Restaurant. Hawk Newsome, a Black activist and the co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Greater New York chapter, organized a protest outside of the Manhattan restaurant where a hostess claimed three Black women from Texas attacked her after she asked for them to show proof of vaccination.
