NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB) - A woman from Natchitoches pleaded guilty on Wednesday, July 21 in the case concerning the burning death of toddler Levi Cole Ellerbe.
According to KTSB in Shreveport, Felecia Marie-Nicole Smith, 28, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and cruelty to a juvenile and will spend 80 years in prison. Formal sentencing for Smith will be held on Oct. 27, one month after the start of trial for Levi’s mother, Hanna Nicole Barker. As part of the deal, Smith could testify against Barker if called upon. Ellerbe died after being burned in a ditch in Natchitoches on July 17, 2018. Huntsville police arrested two more people in the shooting death of Kentonio Perkins.
25-year-old Jack Deonte Chapman and 26-year-old Raques Deshon Peebles were booked into the Madison County Jail overnight They're both facing a murder charge. Their bond was set at $75,000 each.
Devontae Sherrod Moore is also charged with murder following the shooting incident. It took place on Indiana Street on the night of July 12. Officers believe the shooting happened after an argument. |

DICKSON COUNTY, TENN. (WSMV) - An investigation is underway in Dickson County for what led up to the deadly shooting of a woman Saturday night.
Police were called to a residence on Pond Rail Road in response to a shooting where the found the body of Cuornisha "Kenya" Northington, 38, behind the residence.
Witnesses at the scene told police the shooter, identified as Lamisha Haynes, 41, had left the scene quickly. Haynes was later located and taken into custody. She is charged with First Degree Murder. Haynes' bond was set at $500,000. |
Americus police looking for 'armed and dangerous' (Black) murder suspect
SUMTER COUNTY, Ga. -- Americus police are looking for a murder suspect.
They say 37-year-old Allan Tremain Barthell, of Americus, is wanted for the homicide of 30-year-old Brandon Marquis Burney.
Officers responded to Winn St. around 7:05 p.m. Thursday night, where they discovered Burney with gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center for treatment but died from his injuries. Police state that Barthell was seen driving away from the crime scene in a silver 2007 Lexus RX with a Georgia tag that reads TAF 8187. Officials say you should consider Barthell armed and dangerous. If you see him, call 911 immediately. |
(Black) Florissant man charged in Chesterfield bank robbery
CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A man accused of robbing a Chesterfield bank last week has been arrested and charged.
According to police, a suspect robbed the Midwest Bank Centre located at 500 Chesterfield Center Dr. at 12:15 p.m. The suspect used a weapon and threatened the employees, police said.
The suspect has been identified as 59-year-old Donnell Starks of Florissant. He is charged with first-degree robbery and is being held on a $150,000 cash only bond. No one was hurt in the robbery. |

ALEXANDRIA, La. (APD) - Alexandria Police have made an arrest in a shooting incident that occurred Monday night around 8:15 p.m. in the 4000 block of Lakeside Drive. One victim was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound and later died from those injuries. Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit were called out.
Marcus Johnson, 28, of Alexandria, was charged with second degree murder.

A professional skateboarder is expected to face homicide charges after a man he previously was charged with assaulting died, according to TMZ Sports.
Terry Kennedy was booked on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting (black) 23-year-old Josiah Kassahun in an Illinois motel. Kassahun, who suffered a fractured skull and a concussion in the attack, has died, The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office told TMZ on Sunday. The 36-year-old already has been charged with aggravated battery in a public place and threatening a public official. He allegedly told arresting police officers: “I will kill one of you police. We kill police where I’m from,” a police spokesperson told the online tabloid journalism outlet. It’s unclear what led to the incident. SALUDA, S.C. (WIS) - Deputies in Saluda County have arrested a man in connection with a sexual assault case involving a minor, officials say.
According to the Saluda County Sheriff’s Office, Gary Eugene Lott was arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor 2nd degree. Officials say Lott is also a sex offender and has been charged with crimes relating to violating the Sex Offender Registry and not reporting information accurately to the Sheriff as he is required to do by law. |

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A man who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting two children will spend 20 years in prison -- the maximum sentence for the crimes, according to the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor.
Donnie Rankin, 49, of West Columbia, was convicted of two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, second degree. The West Columbia Police Department launched an investigation into Rankin in August 2020 after receiving a report. Investigators determined Rankin “committed multiple acts of sexual battery against the victims” in 2012 and 2013. The victims were children. Police said Rankin did admit to some of the allegations against him. “Child sexual assault victims often don’t come forward out of fear or shame,” Eleventh Circuit Assistant Solicitor Ashley Wellman said. “This sentence sends a strong message that offenders will not be allowed to use those tactics to keep victims silent.” Rankin is not eligible for parole during his sentence and must register as a sex offender. |

East St. Louis teacher pleads guilty after forcing preschoolers to stand naked in closet
EAST ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A former preschool teacher in East St. Louis who made children take off their clothes and stand naked in a closet as punishment has pleaded guilty.
Mary M. Agbehia, 28, a former teacher at the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Head Start program, pleaded guilty to five felonies in the case, according to the Belleville News-Democrat. Another teacher, Shavonda L. Willis, is scheduled for a hearing in the case in which she is charged with multiple felonies on Tuesday. In March of 2019, campus Police Chief Kevin Schmoll announced allegations against the teachers, saying they forced four of the 20 preschoolers in a class to take off all their clothes. "Children would misbehave in class and this teacher would have them disrobe and stand them, make them stand inside a closet for five or 10 minutes as their discipline. Then they would redress and join the class," Schmoll said. The form of punishment reportedly had been going on for about a month and a half. |

Retired priest and former New York City Councilman Louis Gigante was slapped with a lawsuit that accused him of HOMO-sexually assaulting a 9-year-old boy in the 1970s in a Bible study course.

BLACK NJ man on FBI’s Most Wanted list sentenced to 31 years for killing fiancée
A New Jersey man once on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list has been sentenced to decades in prison for killing his fiancée and her dog, prosecutors said.
Lamont Stephenson, whose grinning mug once adorned billboards outside Newark Liberty International Airport, was sentenced to 31½ years in prison Thursday for strangling Olga “Ivy” DeJesus, 39, and her dog, Lola, in October 2014, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
A judge ruled that Stephenson, 46, who pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and animal cruelty charges in June, must serve the entire sentence without the possibility of parole. Stephenson was charged in 2014 in DeJesus’ slaying in absentia and later landed on the most-wanted list in October 2018. He spent five years eluding authorities until he was ultimately captured in March 2019 in Maryland after he allegedly killed a second woman in Washington, DC, as well as her cat, authorities said. Both Stephenson and DeJesus attended New Jersey’s Bloomfield Tech High School and they reconnected via Facebook when she and a classmate planned their 20th class reunion, Essex County prosecutors said. Stephenson didn’t attend the affair but reached out to DeJesus and the pair started dating. He then proposed to DeJesus a short time later. The former fugitive admitted in court in June to killing his fiancée because he was fired from his job at Pep Boys and wanted to keep it from her, prosecutors said. “Incredibly, Stephenson brutally strangled Olga DeJesus because he did not have the courage to tell her he lost his job at Pep Boys,” Assistant Prosecutor Michelle Miller said. “She trusted him, she loved him, and he committed the ultimate act of betrayal by forcing her to look at his face while he placed both hands around her neck and forcefully strangled the life out of her.” Stephenson then killed DeJesus’ dog the same way before fleeing the couple’s Newark apartment and going on the lam for the next five years while living under a fake name, prosecutors said. Stephenson was also charged with killing girlfriend Natina Kiah, 40, inside her DC apartment when he was arrested in Maryland. The security guard at a homeless shelter had met the fugitive while he was staying there under an alias and allegedly killed her and her cat. The case is still pending, prosecutors said. (Black) Aunt arrested after niece and nephew's bodies found in her car, police say
CNN)A Baltimore woman is facing multiple charges, including child abuse resulting in death, after police found the remains of her 7-year-old niece and 5-year-old nephew in her car late Wednesday, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.
Nicole Michelle Johnson, 33, of Baltimore, was arrested on Thursday and charged with two counts each of first-degree felony child abuse, first-degree felony child abuse resulting in death; misdemeanor neglect of a minor; misdemeanor failure to report the death of a child; and the unauthorized burial of a body as a misdemeanor, court records show.
"The entire Baltimore County Police Department grieves with the community over the "unspeakable deaths of two innocent children," Police Chief Melissa Hyatt said following Johnson's arrest. "The investigation into this atrocious crime will not stop until those responsible are brought to justice." Johnson remains held on a no-bail status, court documents show. A preliminary hearing is set for August 27. CNN has reached out to the public defender representing Johnson but have not heard back. According to charging documents filed with Johnson's charges, officers pulled Johnson over for speeding around 11 p.m. on Wednesday and found she had neither license nor insurance, and that she was using a fake temporary tag. The officers advised that Johnson report to the district court in five days and that they were going to tow her car, according to the documents. Johnson then stated, "It don't matter, I won't be here in five days" and "y'all going to see me on the news, y'all going to see on the news making my big debut," according to the documents. Johnson then retrieved items from the trunk of her car, including a maggot-filled clear trash bag with a strong "decomposition odor" and a black and yellow plastic tote, according to the documents. The officer asked Johnson to open the clear trash bag, which she eventually did, revealing a suitcase that Johnson claimed contained blankets, the documents said. Johnson attempted to use the blanket to conceal the contents of the suitcase but officer told her to remove the blanket and she did, "exposing the decomposing body of a young child," according to the documents. At his point, Johnson attempted to flee but was quickly caught, the document said. Officers then opened the plastic tote bag and found another plastic bag containing the remains of another child. The bags contained the remains of two siblings, which police said were Johnson's niece and nephew, 7-year-old Joshlyn Johnson and her 5-year-old brother, Larry O'Neil. Police noted that it will take some time to determine the cause of death and the Maryland state medical examiner has not yet responded to CNN's inquiry. Johnson told detectives that she hit the girl several times for "misbehaving," causing her to fall and hit her head on the floor, according to the documents. Johnson then stowed the girl's body in a suitcase and carried it around for months. She also told detectives that she'd seen blood on the Larry's leg two months ago and that he never woke up after saying he was tired, after which she placed him in the plastic tote which she later placed in the trunk with his sister. It is not clear when the boy's body was moved to the car. An autopsy found that Joshlyn weighed 18 pounds and the Larry weighed 21 pounds, according to the documents. Johnson had custody of the children since 2019 after her sister, Dachelle Johnson -- the mother of the two children -- said she couldn't take care of them, according to the police charging documents. Dachelle Johnson spoke with detectives, saying she moved to Maryland from Ohio in July 2019, which was when she asked her sister to look after the kids, according to the documents. Dachelle Johnson told detectives she tried to reach her sister several times after dropping her children off and finally reached her in March 2021, according to the documents. She arranged to have her sister return the children but her sister never met her and Dachelle Johnson had been unable to reach her sister or the children until detectives notified her of their deaths, the documents said. |

BASTROP, La. (KNOE) - Bastrop police say they have arrested a woman accused of murder. Police released the following information on July 30.
On July 22, 2021 the Bastrop Police Department responded to a report of a subject having been stabbed on Van Avenue.
Upon their arrival, Officers found Jessie Martin b/m age 55 had been stabbed with a knife. Jessie was transported to Morehouse General ER and later flown to LSU Shreveport due to his injuries. After their investigation the Bastrop Police Department arrested Claudia Maria Evans b/f age 46 for one count of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. On July 23, 2021 while at LSU Shreveport, Jessie Martin succumbed to his injuries and passed away. A Long Island nurse was fatally stabbed by her ex-con boyfriend, who left her to die in the woods, police sources told The Post on Friday.
Sandra McIntosh, 46, had just finished her shift at 7:30 p.m. at Stony Brook University Hospital in Suffolk County on July 22 when ex Wayne Chambers, 49, picked her up in her car, according to sources and a report.
Chambers — an ex-con who had served more than a decade in prison for a Bronx robbery — was supposed to then pick up his things from McIntosh’s house, the victim’s sister told the local ABC-TV affiliate. The dying nurse was found around 8 that night in a wooded area of Holtsville on Woodlawn Avenue after a resident heard her pleas for help, according to Suffolk police. St. Louis police arrest (Black) man in 15-year-old's shooting death
ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A man was charged in the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy in North City. Friday morning, St. Louis police announced that Deshaun Ewing, 19, had been arrested in the shooting deaths of Kyle Falker. Police said he is charged with armed criminal action, second-degree murder and first-degree armed robbery.
Falker, 15, was found shot to death in the 1300 block of North 14th Street just after 1 p.m. on July 11, 2021. Ewing is being held without bond. Officers told News 4 they also arrested Ewing in connection with the shooting deaths of Arie Bagsby, 20, and Omar Harris, 21. They were killed in the 300 block of N. Grand on July 13, 2020. Police said charges against Ewing in that shooting were refused. News 4 has asked the Circuit Attorney's Office why the charges were refused and are awaiting a response. |

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A man is facing charges in St. Louis City’s 106th homicide of the year.
Deron Mitchell, 39, was shot in the head in the 5100 block of Wabada around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, a 22-year-old suspect was taken into custody at the scene and a gun was recovered. A day after the fatal shooting, it was announced that the Circuit Attorney's Office charged Trevon Roberts, of the 5100 block of Wabada, with one count of murder second and armed criminal action. Bond was not allowed. |

The 23-year-old son of a prominent cybersecurity executive has been charged with killing her earlier this week at her Maryland home.
TRACYS LANDING, Md. (7NEWS) — A Maryland man has been arrested for killing his mother and dumping her body outside their home, Anne Arundel County Police (AACP) says. AACP found the body of 58-year-old Juanita Naomi Koilpillai on July 25 after responding to a call about a missing person. When officers arrived at her home in the 6300 block of Genoa Road, Tracys Landing, Md. around 3:28 p.m., they found blood inside the house. Shortly after, they found Koilpillai's body outside. "The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Ms. Koilpillai’s cause of death as multiple sharp force injuries with the manner being homicide," AACP says. Investigators identified Koilpillai's 23-year-old son, Andrew Weylin Beavers, as a suspect the following day. Both Koilpillai and Beavers' blood was found on the murder weapon. Beavers reportedly had a fresh laceration on his right hand that he wouldn't explain to investigators. On July 31, Beavers was arrested in Leesburg, Va., where he had fled in his mother's car after allegedly killing her and dumping her body outside their home. John Henry Wright was also designated a sexual predator by Circuit Judge Jan Shackelford. Wright entered a plea to 15 counts of possession of certain images of child pornography and one count of lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim under age 12. On December 2, 2020, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTipline about child pornography being shared on social media from Wright’s home. David “Shaman” Ortiz was taken into custody just before midnight on July 21, when he stepped in front of a slow-moving cop car in a futile effort to stop the breakup of his last rowdy Greenwich Village gathering, authorities said. “They tried to run me over,” Ortiz told The Post a day after his arrest. He posted a video of the incident, in which he was charged with misdemeanor obstructing governmental administration, on his Instagram. The 29-year-old, who was quickly released, has been making residents near Washington Square Park miserable for months, organizing large parties well past the park’s midnight closing time which drew hundreds and were accompanied by a host of illegal activities: fireworks, boxing matches, drug use, unlicensed alcohol sales and amplified music, which is banned in city parks. CHEYNEY, Pa. (CBS) — Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, the country’s first historically Black college & university, will use its pandemic federal aid to forgive student balances from Spring 2020 to Spring 2021.
In a release, the university says the decision came “[i]n light of the financial and emotional hardships that students and their families have experienced” from the COVID-19 pandemic. Ex-trash hauler-turned-narco henchman Felipe Chairez threatened to take a chainsaw to a New York man and rape his wife at the direction of Mexican drug traffickers, prosecutors allege. Chairez was arrested by the feds over the threats in July 2019 — about a year after he struck and killed 23-year-old Australian tourist Madison Jane Lyden at West 67th Street and Central Park West in Manhattan. Lyden had ridden her bike into his traffic lane to avoid an Uber that swerved into her bike lane. Chairez had downed two beers before he got behind the wheel of his truck but was only slapped with a $1,000 fine in the case after pleading guilty to one count of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol. But the former garbage hauler is now facing some serious prison time in the drug case. The US Probation Department requested that Chairez serve six years after he pleaded guilty to a drug conspiracy charge in April. He is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday. NYPD cop assigned to combat gun violence shot by gang member with MEXICAN name 
An NYPD lieutenant assigned to thwart gun violence in the Bronx was shot in the ankle after a long struggle with a well-known gang banger, Commissioner Dermot Shea said early Saturday.
The drama unfolded just before midnight when cops responding to a 911 call near Lyman Place and East 169th Street spotted a man they thought was carrying a weapon, and hopped out to investigate, Shea said during a 4 a.m. news conference. But the suspect, identified by police as reputed gang member Jerome Roman, 26, took off when he spotted the officers get out of the unmarked police car, prompting a brief chase. The four officers caught up to Roman after about 50 feet, and during a “violent struggle” which took anywhere from five to eight minutes, Roman allegedly fired off a shot that hit the lieutenant in the ankle, an injury Shea described as a “through and through wound.” The bullet then kept going and struck a nearby parked car, the commissioner added. According to a post on the Community Praying for Jacob Dindinger Facebook page, he died on Thursday night, July 29. AMR Southern Arizona on Friday confirmed his passing. Dindinger, 20, was shot in the head and his partner was shot in the arm and chest as they sat in their ambulance at Quincie Douglas Center at Silverlake Park. They were staged there during the shooting and house fire near South Campbell Avenue and East Irene Vista. The suspect Leslie Stephen Scarlett, 35, was shot by a police officer and later died. Dindinger’s family, in a statement posted July 23 on social media, said he was born in Long Beach, California, and moved to El Paso, Texas, as a child before settling in Tucson, where he graduated in 2019 from Canyon del Oro High School. His older brother, Bryan Presetti, is a firefighter/engineer, the family said, and Dindinger decided he wanted to become an EMT after visiting him in Long Beach, Calif. Dindinger then enrolled in the EMT program at Pima Community College and became a certified EMT in the state shortly after. ST. LUCIE COUNTY — A man jailed for more than a year after three alleged violent sex incidents against women was arrested in the death of a fourth woman found in the trunk of his car, according to officials this week.
Kano Brown, 30, who was arrested in May 2020 on a host of charges, including aggravated battery and multiple counts each related to sexual battery and kidnapping, now is charged in the death of 49-year-old Kathleen Black, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff's officials Wednesday. Sheriff Ken Mascara in a May 27, 2020, media briefing spelled out his belief that Brown attacked and killed Black, but only on Monday was Brown arrested on a first-degree murder charge. He was held at the Martin County Jail because he has relatives working at the St. Lucie County Jail, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office. Mascara has said after Brown’s arrest at an apartment complex at Rhode Island Avenue and South 26th Street, Brown’s family members were asked to remove his vehicle from the parking lot. Records show Brown's mother, a sheriff's corrections deputy, told officials that after noticing a foul odor she opened the trunk of the 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis and found the decomposing body. “We believe that Brown picked up Kathleen Black, violently attacked her, killed her and stuffed her body in the trunk of his car,” Mascara has said. LAURINBURG, N.C. (WPDE) — Two people are facing several charges following a reported kidnapping on Wednesday.
Around 3:30 p.m., officers with the Laurinburg Police Department spoke with a 31-year-old male victim of Laurel Hill who claimed that earlier that day, he was assaulted, forced to strip from his clothing and placed in a trunk of a vehicle while on South Caledonia Road in Laurinburg.
The victim claims that he escaped from the trunk of the vehicle and fled on foot across E. Vance Street toward the convenience store while being pursued by another man. The victim told police that the man pursuing him began assaulting him again while in the convenience store then forced him from the business and into the same vehicle that he was placed in the trunk earlier which was driven by a woman. The victim also claims that the man was wearing brass knuckles while striking him and the woman began striking him with her fist. The victim was then taken toward Robeson County, continuously being assaulted and eventually, the vehicle stopped somewhere near Maxton, according to police. Police said the victim was then thrown from the vehicle with his clothing and the man and woman left him beside the road. Police reports say the victim's cellphone was also taken by the male and female. The victim stated that they then walked to Scotland County Courthouse from Maxton, which is in Robeson County, where he notified law enforcement. Seven men were arrested in connection to the shooting of a hero dad who was struck as he shielded his kids from gunfire at a Bronx car dealership last year, cops said Friday.
Six of the suspects — Tahari Pritchard, 20, Dorien Alexander, 20, Daijon Crawford, 21, Aaron Heredia, 21, Zykeith Fearon, 21, and Akeyle Baker, 22 — were busted Wednesday and charged with attempted murder, police said.
Another suspect, Hasani John, 22 — a known Bloods gang member — was busted back on March 5 and charged with two counts of assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said. Haltom City police release sketch of (Black) suspect, vehicle of interest in recent rape case
HALTOM CITY, Texas - Police have released a sketch of the rape suspect who attacked a woman in an open field in Haltom City.
The attack happened Wednesday around 3 a.m. in the 3900 block of Broadway Avenue.
The woman told police she was sexually assaulted by a Black male. He asked her for change, then pointed a gun at her and assaulted her in a nearby field. Investigators were able to get images of the vehicle of interest and a composite sketch of the suspect. He is described as a Black man, about six feet tall with a thin to medium build, 35 to 40 years old, with a possible fade haircut, clean-shaven and was last seen wearing a white or yellow t-shirt. A creep in Manhattan allegedly molested a young girl while being out on supervised release from a felony burglary case when he broke into a girl’s room, The Post has learned.
Raymond Wilson, a 31-year-old homeless (n-word), appeared in Manhattan Supreme Court Thursday afternoon on charges of sex abuse and burglary in connection to the June 12 assault, court records show. In that incident, Wilson allegedly broke into the girl’s room and rubbed his genitals on her foot, according to the criminal complaint. “The victim felt something slimy on her feet and noticed that the defendant was rubbing his penis on her toes, ” Assistant District Attorney Meghan Mcnulty said in court. “The victim screamed for her parents but no one was home, except her younger sister who was sleeping in another room.” Cops connected Wilson to the sexual assault through the DNA on a water bottle he left behind, the complaint says. JACKSON HEIGHTS, Queens — Police made an arrest Thursday in an attack on an 11-year-old girl who was dragged into an alley and robbed at knifepoint last weekend, according to the NYPD.
Officers took 34-year-old Jonathan Perez, of Queens, into custody on charges including robbery, assault, kidnapping, menacing and acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17, authorities said.
The arrest came just four days after the violent robbery police called “sexually motivated.” The NYPD said Perez has two prior arrests, including a June robbery and soliciting a prostitute in 2018. According to police, the girl was heading to the grocery store Sunday morning when the man approached her from behind near the corner of 86th Street and Northern Boulevard in the Jackson Heights nieghborhood. Officials said he grabbed the child by the throat, ripped her face mask off and dragged her into an alleyway. He held her down and pressed a sharp metal object against her throat while making threatening sexual statements and demanding to know the victim’s age, police said. A pair of Dallas-area murder suspects have been arrested in connection with the Tuesday slaying of a 60-year-old woman who was helping her married daughter move into a home she had just purchased, authorities said Thursday.
The Garland Police Department identified the suspects as Kvaughandre Presley, 20, of Dallas and Gabriela Torres, 21, of Garland. Both were sought for the killing of Patricia Eifert. They were taken into custody Thursday morning with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service. Both are being held in the Garland Detention Center. Presley is being held on a $1 million bond and Torres on a $750,000 bond, police said. Eifert was alone at the newly purchased home when she was killed just before 7 p.m. Officers arrived at the scene and found her with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead by paramedics. Surveillance video shows a black vehicle slowly traveling in an alley behind the home around the time of the killing, police said. A female driver and male passenger are seen getting out of the vehicle and entering the garage, police said. Both are seen moments later carrying items back to the car and leaving. Eifert’s daughter, Annie Bryant, told Fox-owned station KDFW-TV that her mother went to the home to fix a cabinet. "She was so proud and so excited that I bought my first home. She just wanted to fix it up how I wanted it and now she can’t. Now she’s gone," Bryant said tearfully. Earlier in the day, Eifert notified her job that she planned on retiring, her daughter said. She said her husband found Eifert's body inside the home. "Why bother taking a life? That is what I keep asking. If you are going to steal, then steal. But just shoot to kill somebody? BRIDGEPORT - In what may be the first public signal that the state’s judicial system is getting back to business, testimony began Tuesday morning in the city’s first criminal jury trial since the pandemic began - a Stratford murder case.
Twelve jurors and two alternates, all wearing face masks, took their places in the jury box, their reflections bouncing off the plexiglass surrounding the judge, the witness box and the gallery. 
Brandyn Grant-Ford, 29, has been sitting in prison for four years, nearly two years of that because of the pandemic, awaiting trial. He is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a child and illegal possession of a pistol in a motor vehicle. Prominent (Black) Bay Area activist sentenced to 15 years to life for murder
OAKLAND — A well-known justice reform activist who served as his own attorney during his second murder trial was sentenced late last month to 15 years to life in state prison, court records show.
DeAngelo Cortijo, 28, was sentenced by Judge Don C. Clay, with whom Cortijo clashed frequently during his trial earlier this year. Cortijo was convicted of murdering his sister’s ex-boyfriend, 26-year-old Oakland resident Jamad Jerkins, whom he shot with a revolver outside his sister’s Oakland apartment. The jury returned a second-degree murder verdict. Cortijo was transferred to North Kern State Prison on July 1, records show. Cortijo testified that the October 2016 shooting was accidental, and that Jerkins initiated an altercation by banging on his sister’s door and yelling to get inside while Cortijo was babysitting her children. Prosecutors said Cortijo pointed a gun at Jerkins while Jerkins waited for a ride home outside the apartment, and that he shot him in the torso after Jerkins swatted at the gun. The May trial was Cortijo’s second; an appellate court overturned Cortijo’s previous murder conviction, ruling that a prosecutor made an improper argument. At the second trial, a different deputy district attorney hammered Cortijo during an intense cross-examination that ended with Cortijo answering “I don’t know” to dozens of basic questions. By the trial’s end, Cortijo refused to come to court, claiming deputies in Santa Rita Jail had assaulted him. |
(Black) Miami man accused of killing, burning woman faces charges including second-degree murder
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man accused of killing a woman and burning her body inside of a U-Haul truck faces multiple charges thanks to surveillance footage that captured the horrific incident.
Allen Thomas, 57, appeared in bond court on Thursday. He is accused of killing a woman, putting her body in a U-Haul truck, and then taking it to another spot to set it on fire. According to the arrest report, detectives were able to catch Thomas thanks to surveillance video. In the surveillance footage, they saw Thomas backing up a U-Haul truck near the train tracks across Northeast 73rd Street and 2nd Avenue just after 5 a.m. Sunday. That is when he gets out of the driver’s seat and walks to the back of the truck. Suddenly, flames are seen behind the vehicle. Then, after a few seconds, he drives away. On Monday, investigators found Thomas at his apartment with the U-Haul truck parked outside. Inside of the apartment, they found several knives, cleaning supplies, and blood consistent with a struggle. Investigators soon learned the woman was first strangled to death before her body was placed inside of the truck and taken to the train tracks. The arrest came as a shock to this neighbor. “He killed already and he will do it again if he gets the chance to do it,” said Thomas’ neighbor. Police also spoke to a witness who said Thomas told them the victim was dead inside of the apartment for two days before he put her body in the U-Haul truck and burned it. On Thursday, Miami-Dade Judge Mindy Glazer told the defendant, “There is probable cause for the charges — it says you moved a body and then you burned it.” Due to the extent of the victim’s burns, the medical examiner’s office has yet to positively identify the victim. However, they have determined that the victim died following trauma to her neck. Thomas faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder with no bond, abuse of a dead, human body with a bond of $7,500, and tampering with physical evidence with a bond of $5,000. WASHINGTON — A 22-year-old man has been arrested in the death of 6-year-old Nyiah Courtney, who was shot and killed in Southeast D.C. on July 16, the Metropolitan Police Department told WUSA9 Wednesday.
Marktwan Hargraves, 22, was taken into custody by D.C. Police and the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force Wednesday morning, D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee III said during a news conference on Wednesday. Hargraves was found inside of an apartment in Southeast D.C. and has been charged with second-degree murder while armed. Contee also mentioned that 16 people were recently indicted for drug-related crimes in the community Nyiah was shot. He confirmed that Nyiah's father was a part of the group who were indicted in the drug crimes. Contee said it is possible that Nyiah's death is related to these drug crimes. Contee said during the drive-by shooting, Nyiah's father was out there on the block and he ended up getting shot, and a person who was included in the drug indictment was shot the day before. |

A Tulsa man’s first-degree murder charge has been downgraded, but the same charge against his brother remains in place as prosecutors allege that a person once sought as a material witness in the case was material to the murder itself.
Charges against a slew of defendants in a March killing were dropped Tuesday and refiled as a new case in a shuffle of suspects that earned Gabriel Raylee Hopson a lesser charge of accessory to murder and Wendell Alexander, who was formerly identified as a witness, a charge of first-degree murder in the slaying of Eric Graves. Alexander, 20, was recently transferred from custody in a separate case in Choctaw County after failing to appear at an early July preliminary hearing in the Tulsa case. Graves, 30, was found shot to death in the Wedgewood Court apartments, 1140 E. 61st St., on March 13. Two others, Alexander and Gabriel Hopson’s younger brother Jayden Duane Hopson, were treated at Tulsa hospitals for gunshot wounds. Prosecutors allege in new affidavits that Alexander’s story changed many times in interviews with detectives after Gabriel Hopson and Jayden Hopson were arrested and charged with the crime. Further testimony and evidence support the contention that Alexander was one of the shooters, the affidavits allege. Jayden Hopson, 19, is charged as the other. These investigations, they take you one direction, and you think you’ve got it all,” Tulsa Police Homicide Lt. Brandon Watkins said. “But you continue investigating long after you make an arrest. “We started to realize (Alexander’s) participation in (the killing) was far greater than what he originally led us to believe.” Gabriel Hopson is still accused of wrongdoing. The 20-year-old is alleged to have taken items from Eric Graves’ body after the shooting and to have hid or disposed of the firearms involved. Lorraine Graves, the victim’s 24-year-old cousin, is accused of knowingly facilitating the disposal of the guns. Jayden Hopson and Wendell Alexander face first-degree murder charges, and Gabriel Hopson and Lorraine Graves face accessory to murder charges. Jayden Hopson additionally faces a charge of possession of a firearm after juvenile adjudication, and Gabriel Hopson also faces a charge of possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony. |

A woman is facing a first-degree murder charge after allegedly fatally striking a man with her vehicle, police said.
Officers responded just after 1 a.m. Sunday for a traffic collision in the area of Kanis and John Barrow roads, according to a news release from Little Rock police.
Upon arrival, they made contact with 25-year-old Destiny Baugh of Little Rock, who told officers she accidentally hit Jaylon England, 23, with her vehicle, police said. Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services transported England to a local hospital, where he later died, according to the release. After further investigation, a warrant for first-degree murder was issued for Destiny Baugh, police said. She was booked into the Pulaski County jail, where she remained Tuesday, in lieu of $300,000 bond, according to an online inmate roster. The investigation is ongoing. |
3 charged with capital murder in killing of Alabama man during robbery setup
Three suspects have been charged with capital murder in the shooting death of an Alabama man during a robbery.
Officials form the Valley Police Department on Tuesday announced the arrests of Jacob Christian Moedl, 19, of Notasulga, Robyn Yvonne Jones, 18, of Lagrange, Ga., and Vincent Ray Tiller, 21, of Grantville, Ga. They are charged in the July 17 slaying of Antavious Lawenton Sharpe, of Valley. Jones and Tiller were arrested on July 24 and are currently in custody in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, pending extradition back to Alabama. Moedl was arrested in Notasulga on July 26 and is currently in the Chambers County Detention Facility. A press release said witnesses positively identified Jones as the driver of the vehicle involved in the shooting as well as reporting that there was a white or light-skinned male in the front passenger seat and a black male in the rear seat. When the warrant on Jones was entered into NCIC, Valley investigators were contacted by detectives in Griffin, Georgia and learned that Jones and her boyfriend (Tiller) had allegedly been involved in a shooting there July 10. The U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Recovery Task Force was contacted for assistance in locating Jones and Tiller. Marshals were able to track them to Louisiana where they, along with members of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, were able to arrest them at a residence in Carencro, Louisiana, the press release said. When interviewed by VPD investigators, both admitted that they had set up a deal with Sharpe to buy marijuana with the intention of robbing him and that the white male named Jacob had shot him. Based on this information, investigators were able to locate Moedl and question him. Moedl admitted to being in the vehicle at the time of the shooting but stated that Tiller had pulled the trigger. Cops have collared a 29-year-old man they say pulled the trigger in a fatal East Williamsburg shooting last month, police said Thursday.
Ramel Chapman allegedly shot Sean Robinson in the back after trying to stick up the 33-year-old while sitting in a Ford Mustang with his friend at Morgan Avenue near Stagg Street at about 12:40 a.m. June 14, cops said.
Robinson had refused to hand over his property, cops said. Chapman also allegedly pistol-whipped the 38-year-old driver and grabbed a gold chain off the driver and Robinson, according to police. Robinson was rushed to Woodhull Medical Center, but he could not be saved. Chapman was arrested Thursday and charged with murder, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon, according to the NYPD. An Oklahoma mother has been arrested and charged with child neglect after her 12-year-old daughter gave birth a 24-year-old man's child.
Desiree Castaneda, 33, was also taken into custody on Thursday on one count of enabling child sex abuse, according to the Tulsa Police Department and online jail records. Her arrest comes two weeks after her then-pregnant daughter was brought to a local hospital by Juan Miranda-Jara, a 24-year-old man who allegedly told authorities that he was the baby's biological father when they confronted him about the pregnancy. Miranda-Jara was arrested on July 14 while the girl was in labor at the hospital. Police said at the time that Miranda-Jara allegedly admitted to being "in a relationship" with the girl since October. The age of consent in Oklahoma is 16. |
Ranger: 3 charged in 4 Texas killings planned to steal gun
New Summerfield, Texas — Three men charged in the fatal shooting of four people at a home in East Texas this week met up with one of the victims under the pretense of buying a gun from him but planned to steal it, authorities allege.
Jesse Pawlowski, 20, Billy Phillips, 37, and Dylan Welch, 21, have been charged with capital murder in killings near New Summerfield, a small community about 125 miles (200 kilometers) southeast of Dallas. A Texas Ranger said in court filings that 18-year-old John Clinton thought he was selling a gun Monday night but was shot and killed in the driveway. His 39-year-old mother, Ami Hickey, Jeff Gerla, 47, and Amanda Bain, 39, were all found shot to death in Gerla’s mobile home on the property. black Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson has said Clinton and Gerla were in a relationship, as were Hickey and Bain. Pawlowski told investigators that he met Clinton and Gerla on the the dating app Grindr and entered into a sexual relationship with them, the Ranger, Nicholas Castle, said in affidavits. Pawlowski said he had visited Gerla’s home several times and knew that the couple had multiple firearms, including a handgun Clinton wanted to sell for $500, he wrote. Pawlowski told investigators that he, Phillips and Welch planned to steal the handgun instead of Phillips buying it, according to the affidavits. Pawlowski said that when he went to Gerla’s home on Monday night, Clinton, Bain and Hickey were there as well. Pawlowski said that when Phillips and Welch arrived, he and Clinton walked to the end of the driveway to meet them, Castle wrote. According to the affidavits, Pawlowski told investigators that Phillips took Clinton’s handgun, shot Clinton in the back of the head and then shot the other three in the mobile home. Phillips and Welch told investigators that they had no involvement in the killings. SELMA, Ala. -- A man sought in the shooting of an Alabama police officer who was gunned down in an ambush while taking a lunch break has been arrested, authorities said Wednesday.
Javonte Stubbs, 18, was arrested overnight in the shooting of Selma Police Officer Marquis Moorer and the wounding of Moorer's wife or girlfriend, Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said.
Stubbs was charged with capital murder and attempted murder following his arrest at apartments in Tuscaloosa, Jackson said. He was taken to the jail in rural Chilton County and is set for a hearing Friday morning in Selma, he said. Court records weren't immediately available to show whether Stubbs had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf. Jackson said Stubbs previously was a 'star' football player at Selma High School. Firefighters were called to the scene of an apartment that caught fire in Clarksville, Indiana on Tuesday morning when they discovered a 67-year-old woman's decapitated body inside the burning home.
Clarksville police responded to the scene and immediately started reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing the area, leading them to 36-year-old Brian Williams, who they arrested less than eight hours later on murder and arson charges. Surveillance footage showed Williams leaving Melody Gambetty's apartment with suitcases on Monday afternoon, Maj. Joel DeMoss said at a press conference Wednesday, adding that it appears to be a botched robbery. Firefighters were called to the scene of an apartment that caught fire in Clarksville, Indiana on Tuesday morning when they discovered a 67-year-old woman's decapitated body inside the burning home. When police tracked Williams to his home, they discovered those suitcases with dismembered body parts inside. A probable cause affidavit obtained by Fox-affiliate WDRB said that "located inside one of the victim's suitcases was a human cranium, with full facial tissue to include hair attached, believed to belong to the victim (deceased)." A small handsaw with blood on the blade was also in the suitcase, as well as a "plastic container with a lid, containing multiple human digits (fingers and toes)," according to the affidavit. Yesterday’s crime scene, in my 23 years, is one of the most horrific that we’ve been involved in," Maj. DeMoss said Wednesday. Gambetty also suffered stab wounds, DeMoss said, but an official cause of death will not be known until an autopsy is performed on Thursday morning. Miami-Dade police detectives have arrested two St. Petersburg men in the killing of Michael Zaldua, a Florida International University student who was fatally shot inside a parking garage near the school in December 2016.
The men, Donterio Fowler, 26, and Keondre Fields, 23, were booked into the Pinellas County jail on Monday. They will be extradited to Miami-Dade to await trial on first-degree murder charges.
Fowler is the brother of Atlanta Falcons NFL linebacker and former Lakewood High School star Dante Fowler, who is not accused of any wrongdoing. Zaldua was shot at point-blank range on Dec. 2, 2016, shortly before 11 p.m., inside the garage at the 4th Steet Commons apartments complex, 10899 SW Fourth St. The building houses many FIU students. Court documents in the case suggest the murder resulted from a drug deal "gone awry". According to a press release by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, investigators discovered cash scattered around Zaldua’s body, a loaded Glock magazine near his body and a gun inside his pocket. A man wanted for murder in Chicago was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon after allegedly pulling a gun on police trying to arrest him inside a restaurant in suburban Calumet City.
Losardo Lucas, 55, pointed a pistol several times at the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force before two officers opened fire, striking him multiple times, Illinois State Police said in a statement.
Lucas was shot around 3:15 p.m. in the 1600 block of Sibley Boulevard, police said. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Police taped off the Roc and Ro BBQ, where the shooting appeared to take place. Police said they recovered two guns from Lucas. Two Chicago police officers were part of the task force, Chicago police said. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability was conducting a use of force investigation. One officer on the task force was taken to a hospital as a precaution, state police said. In 2019, Chicago police said Lucas was a person of interest in a fatal beating. The victim, 43-year-old James D. Gerage, was found dead in a burning car in September 2016 in Pilsen. Court records show Lucas was never charged with the murder. Lucas was also wanted for attempted murder in Calumet City and home invasion by the Cook County sheriff’s office, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. In 1985, Lucas was convicted in a separate Chicago murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison, according to court records. Lucas’ latest arrest was in December 2016, when he was charged in Chicago with home invasion, armed robbery and kidnapping, court records show. He was released on bond and and later issued an arrest warrant in May 2018 after skipping a court date, the records show. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A man wanted in several hit-and-runs in Philadelphia, including one in Center City where police say he ran over a woman twice and killed her, was arrested in Collegeville, Montgomery County on Wednesday morning.
According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office, Kareem Welton is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
The wild chain of events started just after 2 a.m. at Broad and Lombard Streets. Police say a Chevy Malibu rear-ended a motorcycle carrying a 29-year-old driver and a 28-year-old passenger, then left the scene. The man who was driving that motorcycle is OK. His female passenger was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Fortunately, she only suffered some bumps and bruises. Just two blocks away, police say Welton then struck a 32-year-old woman who was walking home from work. She was on the sidewalk near 15th and South Streets, when the car jumped the curb and hit her. That woman’s friend, who was with her at the time, was able to dive out of the way. He is OK. But police say Welton turned around and ran the woman over a second time. “What’s very unusual is, according to witnesses and the male that was with the female, after striking this female on the curb, the vehicle continued south about a half-block then turned around and went northbound on the same sidewalk and ran the female over striking her a second time,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. The woman was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after. Police say they then found the striking vehicle, a Chevy Malibu, ditched at Broad and South Streets. Police say they have surveillance video of Welton exiting that car shirtless, then leaving the scene. Police say he may have been under the influence. That lines up with what a family member of Welton’s told CBS3. The relative wanted to remain anonymous but says he was having a psychotic episode. They told Eyewitness News authorities were called for a mental health check earlier in the day, but it was denied. “They, nobody wanted the job and it took this to happen, man,” the family member told CBS3. “It’s sad, man.” Investigators say the Chevy Malibu was stolen overnight. Police say Welton then stole another vehicle. He struck another pedestrian near Umbria and Hermitage Streets in Manayunk. This pedestrian was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Three appellate judges upheld the murder convictions of two former Allan Hancock College basketball players for a shooting during a drug-deal-gone wrong in Santa Maria more than six years ago.
The California Court of Appeal Second Appellate District recently issued the opinion in the case against mastermind Lavell Calvin White, now 28, and shooter Ali Abdul Mohammed, now 25, affirming the conviction.
However, one justice dissented on White’s role in the crime.
The pair were charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Terence Richardson, 23, a passenger in a vehicle parked near the intersection of Jones Street and Bradley Road on Dec. 30, 2014. While White and Mohammed, both players on the Hancock basketball team at the time, were charged in the case, other athletes testified in the trial as uncharged accomplices in a number of residential and other burglaries in the city. (AP) – A former teacher and child protective services worker who admitted to producing child pornography images of a young boy who was in his care has been sentenced to nearly 21 years in federal prison. Kayan Frazier, 29, of Somers Point, will also have to pay his victim restitution under the 250-month sentence imposed Tuesday, although the amount has not yet been determined.
He will also be on permanent supervised release once he’s freed from prison.
Frazier had pleaded guilty in February to sexual exploitation of a child. Frazier was a substitute teacher for the Atlantic City School District between 2015 and 2017 before taking a job with the state Department of Child Protection and Permanency. The exploitation of the child occurred between March 2017 and April 2019, according to federal prosecutors. Rapper Money Mitch died on Friday, July 23 from a self-inflicted gunshot after a shootout with Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies.
Authorities did not initially identify "Money Mitch" (born Marcus Pettis) — who was 23 at the time of his death — as the deceased, but later confirmed it to the Sun-Sentinel and the CW 34.
Pettis was under surveillance in connection to a murder investigation when officials executed a traffic stop around 4 p.m. as he was in an Uber by Evergreen Drive and 9th Street, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Deputy Chief Frank DeMario said in a press conference. "About 10 minutes to four our tactical unit was surveilling a suspect for murder. They also have probable cause on him for drugs," DeMario explained. The deputy chief said once the rapper's Uber was pulled over, he "jumped out of the car, and started shooting at us. I don't know how many rounds were fired, six or seven but he did it in several different locations." Two PBSO deputies returned fire and then Pettis then attempted to flee the scene, according to a release by the Sheriff's Office. "We followed him to a building and on the second floor, we noticed some blood droppings on the first floor. We thought he was wounded," DeMario said at his press conference. Police are searching for a man who dragged an 11-year-old girl into a Queens alley last weekend and spewed sexual threats before fleeing with her belongings.
The brute attacked the victim as she was walking near 86th Street and Northern Boulevard in Jackson Heights at about 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, according to cops.
After forcing her into an alley, the man threw her to the ground and held a sharp metal object to her throat while making sexual threats and demanding to know her age, police said. The attacker stole the victim’s house keys, $20, a reusable grocery bag and then fled on foot northbound on 86th Street, cops said. The girl suffered a cut to her throat and was treated at a local hospital. CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - A second suspect has been arrested in the murder of a man reported missing out of New Richmond. Christian Beasley was arrested Thursday on a murder charge for the shooting death of Robert "Bobby" Farrell.
Clermont County Prosecutor Mark Tekulve said Farrell's murder was premeditated.
Farrell's family reported him missing on July 6. His body was found on July 12 on SR 222 in Monroe Township. He'd been shot to death. Police arrested Keyanta Gardner for Farrell's murder on July 13. On Thursday, a grand jury indicted Keyanta Gardner Thursday on aggravated murder, murder, conspiracy to commit murder, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse charges. While Tekulve said investigators believe Gardner and Beasley conspired to kill Farrell, he has not said why. Gardner is locked up on a $1 million bond. SPRING LAKE, N.C. (WNCN) — Harnett County deputies are looking for an “armed and dangerous” man wanted for a Tuesday afternoon murder and robbery.
According to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, Moashaun Lafarr Bristow, 23, robbed and fatally shot 24-year-old Adam Vazquez at his Spring Lake home around 4 p.m. Tuesday on Pete Mason Drive.
The sheriff’s office said it’s not clear why and how he was at Vazquez’s home in the first place. Bristow is charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. ERWIN, N.C. (WTVD) -- The man suspected of killing an innocent 72-year-old woman turned himself in on Wednesday, according to Harnett County Sheriff Wayne Coats.
Coats identified Margie Pipkin as the woman who was shot in the head while sitting in her truck at a stop sign Monday morning. Coats said Pipkin was just going about her daily chores when she was shot outside the Cape Fear Conference A Headquarters in Erwin. Artis Lewis Elliott, 29, was charged with first-degree murder in the case. Coats said during a press conference that Elliott had not turned himself in as his attorney said he would. However, by 10:30 a.m., Elliott was in custody. In the shooting, witnesses described seeing two vehicles. Coats explained that Elliott was shooting at another vehicle in the area, and that Pipkin was simply caught in the crossfire. "It's disturbing. The only thing I can say is at least now...we have warrants and I look forward to putting him in our jail," Coats said. Coats praised the help of the community. He said that it was tips from the community that helped identify Elliott. "It's idiots doing these shootings," he said. Coats said he remains upset about Pipkin's death, but he's optimistic that justice will soon be served. A man who is accused of shooting and killing his 1-year-old daughter on July 20 near Polaris has been charged with murder.
William Sean Roberts, 28, was officially charged with murder in Delaware County Tuesday, according to court documents.
Roberts was taken into custody after he attempted to carjack multiple vehicles following the shooting. He reportedly crashed the first vehicle before attempting to steal another. He was arrested near the scene of the shooting on Worthington Road and was taken to the hospital. After being released from the hospital, Roberts was taken to Delaware County, where he was charged. |

Authorities in South Texas said Tuesday they've learned that illegal immigrants who have possibly tested positive for COVID-19 were being released from federal custody to a Catholic charity, which booked hotel rooms for them without notifying local officials.
The La Joya Police Department said a patrol officer was waved down Monday by someone concerned about a group that appeared to be sick at a Whataburger fast food restaurant. The officer found a family inside who were coughing and sneezing and not adhering to health guidelines, including the wearing of masks, authorities said during a news conference. BOSTON (AP) — A former Massachusetts leader of the Boy Scouts has been sentenced to 33 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting more than a dozen children through a social media app, federal prosecutors said Tuesday.
In addition to his prison term, Matthew Murphy, 25, of Whitman, was also sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Boston to 10 years of probation, according to a statement from the U.S. attorney’s office.
The investigation began in 2017 when law enforcement learned that Murphy had posed as a teenage girl on Snapchat to extort nude photographs from a middle school boy in Massachusetts, prosecutors said.

Screaming and shots could be heard on that 911 call and a woman fleeing the home told responding deputies that at least two people inside had been shot, Youngblood said. The 41-year-old suspect then barricaded himself in the home and an hourslong standoff ensued. After calling for backup and surrounding the home, Deputies Phillip Campas, 35, and Dizander Guerrero approached and were shot, Youngblood said. Campas later died at the hospital. Then at about 6:28 p.m., the suspect, armed with an AK-47 rifle and a handgun, got on to the home's roof where he was killed by deputies, according to Youngblood. Inside the house, deputies found three dead — a woman, 42, and two males, 24 and 17. The two male victims were sons of the shooter and the woman was their mother, the sheriff said. "Had there not been other people in this house, we’d probably still be there doing what we do, and that’s wait until the suspect decides he’s had enough," Youngblood said. PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police have identified the man accused of killing a 13-year-old girl earlier this year.
Officers found 13-year-old Alezuana Carter inside a home on the 1500 block of Overington Street suffering from a gunshot wound to the mouth on April 18, 2021 around 10:58 p.m. She was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
On Friday, July 23, homicide detectives arrested 25-year-old Luis Rodriguez in connection with the murder. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by Action News, ballistic evidence from a playground shootout earlier in the day on April 18 matched a weapon Rodriguez allegedly used in Carter's murder. No one was injured in the initial shootout. After the murder, a witness told police Rodriguez came running from the crime scene saying, "I shot her, I shot her in the neck," court documents allege. The witness also said that Rodriguez bragged and confessed on multiple occasions that he killed the girl. Authorities say Rodriguez was caught on video entering and leaving the home after the murder. A Virginia man already serving two life sentences for the sexual abuse of a child has now pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the child’s death.
On Monday, McKenzie Hellman pleaded guilty to second degree murder and child abuse and neglect in the January 2019 death of Steven Meek II, who was 2 years old.
Hellman was convicted in March of multiple charges of physical and sexual abuse of Meek, including accessory to object sexual penetration of a child, accessory to forcible sodomy, accessory to produce and distribute child sexual abuse material (child pornography), and possession of child sexual abuse material. He was sentenced to two life sentences for the abuse crimes. His sentencing hearing on the murder charge is set for August 10. Meek was the son of Hellman’s girlfriend, Kayla Thomas, who has been convicted of multiple charges of sexually abusing her son, and producing child sexual abuse material, according to Virginia court records. She is currently awaiting sentencing on Sept. 23. At the time, Hellman denied any involvement in Steven’s death, first telling police that Steven and another child, Hellman’s 2-year-old son, were playing and jumping on a bed when Steven fell off and hit his head. Hellman later told police that he couldn’t remember what happened during the incident, and then changed his story again to say that he was breaking up a fight between the two boys, and may have shoved Steven into a dresser, according to a statement from the office of Mary Pettitt, the Montgomery County Commonwealth’s Attorney. Another child who was present at the time — Hellman’s 2-year-old son — told his mother that Hellman had “hit and kicked” Steven. Hellman is the one who called 911 on the day of Steven’s death. The emergency personnel “saw that Steven had noticeable bruising to both eyelids and an abrasion to his forehead, was not breathing, and had no detectable heartbeat,” according Pettitt’s office. Steven was taken to an area hospital, where law enforcement officers told doctors that this was a case of child abuse. “Steven was found to have retinal hemorrhages, bruises all over his head, and bruises under his arms,” the statement from Pettitt’s office says. “Throughout the weekend Steven failed all brain activity tests. Two men have been arrested and police are searching for two others accused of a drive-by shooting that left a 12-year-old girl dead in Monroe, authorities said.
Officers responded to the scene at around 8 p.m. Saturday on Icemorlee Street. The child was taken to a local hospital, where she died. Her identity has not been released at this point. Authorities believe the child was sitting with friends on a picnic table when a black Ford SUV drove by, and someone inside started shooting. The SUV sped away after, police said. On Sunday, police arrested 20-year-old Javon Robinson and 19-year-old Darius Roland and charged them with first-degree murder. They are both being held at the Union County Jail without bond. Authorities said they are searching for 22-year-old Jamari Crowder and that he should be considered “armed and dangerous.” He is facing charges for first-degree murder. A Cook County judge Tuesday handed down a 42-year prison sentence for the getaway driver who sped 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton’s killer away from the South Side park where she was gunned down more than eight years ago.
Kenneth Williams, now 28, was convicted of Pendleton’s murder in 2018, but his sentencing was delayed for nearly three years in a case that became emblematic of Chicago’s gun violence. On Tuesday, Judge Diana Kenworthy told Williams he would serve 35 years in prison for the honor student’s murder and an additional seven years on aggravated battery charges in the shooting that also wounded two other teenagers. Williams was more than just a getaway driver, the judge said in her ruling. “[Williams] was not taken by surprise,” Kenworthy said of testimony at Williams’ trial that the pair was hunting for members of a rival gang faction. “They were looking for people to shoot.” |

One man is dead — and another man is behind bars — after a shooting in Orrville.
Fifty-one year old Byron Anderson of Orrville — is charged with murder.
He was arrested for killing 36 year old Frederick Hunter of Orrville Thursday afternoon — in the M&M Grocery Store.
“Luckily the store had good video surveillance. It’s obvious who the guy was,” said Sheriff Mike Granthum.
“You could actually see the shell coming out of, the live round coming out. He pulled the gun out. Racked the gun back. You could see that the victim was actually trying to walk away. You know, it’s a life that was taken. And it didn’t bother him at all. He has yet to show any type of remorse or anything for his actions,” Granthum said. Store clerk Halee Underwood was ringing Hunter up at the register — when the shooting happened. “He was paying for gas and me and him was talking,” said Underwood. “And the other guy thought he said something to him. Or something about him. And he just yelled out, “Did you say something to me? What did you say about me? You up there talking about me to her?” He was like, “No, I don’t know you. I didn’t say anything about you. Nothing to you or about you. I don’t know you sir.” Underwood says — that’s when Anderson suddenly pulled out a gun — and started shooting. “My first thought was just to run and hide. Find somewhere to get,” she said. “After he was gunned down in cold blood, this subject walked and stepped over the top of the deceased’s body, got in his car and drove off like he just bought a soda,” said Granthum. Anderson was arrested about an hour after the shooting — at a house on County Road 715. |

Police say they’ve charged 24-year-old Ladarius Darrington with murder. He is charged with killing 29-year-old J’Quion Robinson of Montgomery. U.S. Marshals arrested Brandon Campbell in Jennings. He was charged with first-degree murder in the April 9, 2020 murder of Randy Moore. He was released earlier this week after his first-degree murder charge was dropped. A judge made that ruling after St. Louis prosecutors failed to show for several hearings. It was discovered, this prosecutor was on maternity leave and no one was reassigned to the case. Governor Mike Parson weighed his opinion on issues with the Circuit Attorney's Office on Friday. He made several posts on Twitter, at first saying "the dysfunction in the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s office and its unwillingness to take violent crime seriously has once more cost St. Louis families justice." LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -- A woman is facing animal cruelty charges after Las Vegas police say she left two dogs tethered in a backyard Tuesday with no food or water, resulting in the death of the animals.
According to an arrest report, the woman, identified as Jael Feliciano, called police to request assistance after she arrived back home from running errands and found her two dogs deceased.
According to the report, Feliciano told police that she left her two dogs, Tiny and Buster, tethered to her chain link fence at 9:30 a.m. when she went to run errands. She said she returned home at approximately 11:15 a.m. and the dogs were still alive in the backyard. After leaving again, when she returned around 2:30 p.m., she found the animals dead in the backyard. An arriving officer examined the dogs and based on her prior experience as an animal control officer, she recognized several signs that indicted that the animals had died of heat stroke. The report states that the dogs had dug holes where they were tethered and their paws, mouths and noses were caked in dirt. According to police, the dogs lacked water and shade, and the National Weather Service was reporting the temperature to be 105 degrees. The report states that at 3:30 p.m., an LVMPD officer took a ground temperature reading where the dogs were located. Two reading were taking near the dogs; one reading showed the ground to be 159 degrees and the second showed the ground to be 162 degrees. Police note that the tether was less than six feet in length and would not have allowed the dogs to move far from the fence or to find shade. While she was gone, according to the arrest report, the woman's half-sister arrived to the home, heard the dogs barking and saw they they appeared to be in distress. She said she did not recognize the dogs and called Feliciano ten times but did not reach her. |

After Herrera gunned down his family, police say, he carjacked and killed a driver before shooting another man hours later at a general store in a tiny town that artist Georgia O’Keeffe called home. A grand jury in Cobb County, Georgia on Friday returned a 15-count indictment against a man who prosecutors say murdered three people in cold blood and left their bodies at a golf club outside of Atlanta over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
According to the General Bill of Indictment, Bryan Anthony Rhoden, 23, allegedly kidnapped two of the victims, gagging them and binding their hands with duct tape before throwing them in the bed of a Dodge pickup truck and transporting them to the Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw where he fatally shot them. The third victim, Pinetree Director of Golf and former PGA player Gene Siller, was shot in the head and neck after venturing onto the tenth hole of the course to see why a truck was parked next to the sand trap and witnessing the crime that was in progress, prosecutors claimed. Police said victim Paul Pierson, who was the registered owner of the pickup truck, was shot in the back, buttock, leg, and arms while victim Henry Valdez was shot in the head. TRENTON, NJ — Two men allegedly involved in a weekend shooting in the capital city led police on a car chase that ended in Hamilton Township, police said.
Hassan Wheeler, 28, and Jarron Colvin, 27, both of Trenton, face multiple charges after they were collared Sunday by Trenton Police officers responding to a shooting near Locust and Chambers streets.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m., when cops heard shots, saw a man collapse and spotted a vehicle fleeing the area. Street crime detectives in the area on an unrelated gun arrest found the suspects' vehicle and tried pulling it over but the men fled. They led cops on a chase, before crashing into a parked car and bailing from the vehicle, police said. Wheeler was immediately apprehended while Colvin ran off and was eventually found hiding out underneath a pick-up truck, police said. Raheem Wilson, 24, of Trenton, was nabbed by city police Saturday with an AK-47-style assault rifle, a handgun with a high-capacity magazine and a bunch of drugs, police said.
He's charged with multiple drug and weapons offenses and was issued motor vehicle summons.
Cops arrested Wilson during a vehicle slowdown operation near the Donnelly Homes. He was speeding behind the wheel of a 2017 Nissan Altima when cops pulled him over, police said. Officers saw a black Glock 17 handgun with an extended magazine on the floor of the car. Wilson was removed from the car and arrested. TRENTON, NJ — A high-tech gadget from the city's real-time crime center helped authorities solve the murder of a teenage lifeguard.
Suspected killer Keith N. Jordan tried alibiing himself for the killing while being interrogated by detectives July 7, but he confirmed details regarding his whereabouts that enabled cops to bring charges against him, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Trentonian.
Jordan, 30, face counts of murder and weapons offenses after authorities said they traced a vehicle from the murder scene back to him. Jordan initially cooperated with cops but stopped answering questions and demanded a lawyer once confronted with damning surveillance that showed someone getting in and out of his Toyota Camry near the double shooting scene. Sixteen-year-old Dion Ellis, a sophomore at Trenton Central High School who worked as a lifeguard at Roberto Clemente Pool, was struck in the head during the July 5 shooting near Prospect Street and Stuyvesant Avenue. Another 16-year-old boy was wounded in the leg, authorities said. |

OKLAHOMA CITY - Multiple children are accusing a man of sexual abuse, according to Oklahoma County court documents.
Oklahoma City investigators said at least six children have accused Keijuan Scott of rape, sodomy, and other sex crimes. These allegations span the course of nearly 15 years.
According to investigators, the sexual abuse allegations against 24-year-old Scott go back to 2006 with a child of 2 years of age or younger. The court documents said Scott threatened one victim with a gun and said: "he would kill his mother and sister if he ever told anyone." He is also accused of threatening one child to "lock him in the closet if he didn't perform these things to him," according to the affidavit. Another victim told investigators she was sexually abused by Scott "her whole life ... approximately five days a week, from the age of 6 until the age of 11." A 12-year-old child told investigators "she was screaming inside her head and did try to push him away, but she couldn't," according to court documents. Scott is charged with one count of first-degree rape, one count of engaging in a pattern of criminal offenses, and 43 counts of lewd acts with a child. He is currently being held in the Oklahoma County jail on a $2 million bond. |

"I hope this arrest brings the Harmon family a sense of closure." Joshua's parents reported him missing 33 years ago in May 1988 when he did not return home for dinner, police said Friday. His body was discovered in a wooded area near his apartment building in Roswell, some 20 miles north of Atlanta, after a 48-hour search. |
Chinese Puppet Biden Moves to Drop Cases Against Chinese Researchers Accused of Hiding Military Ties
WASHINGTON — The Justice Department moved this week to drop cases that it brought last year against five visiting researchers accused of hiding their ties to China’s military, prompting questions about the department’s efforts to combat Chinese national security threats.
The department filed motions on Thursday and Friday to dismiss visa fraud and other charges it brought last summer against the researchers as the Biden administration grapples with holding Beijing accountable for its cyberattacks and its harsh crackdowns in Hong Kong and in the far western region of Xinjiang. The dismissals also come as the State Department’s No. 2 official, Wendy R. Sherman, is to meet in the coming days with Chinese officials in Tianjin, China.
“Recent developments in a handful of cases involving defendants with alleged, undisclosed ties to the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China have prompted the department to re-evaluate these prosecutions,” said Wyn Hornbuckle, a Justice Department spokesman, offering few specifics. “We have determined that it is now in the interest of justice to dismiss them.” The arrests were part of a spate of cases last summer involving researchers and academics who had ties to China as the Trump administration aggressively sought to curb Beijing’s efforts to steal intellectual property, corporate secrets, military intelligence and other information it could use to expand its global influence. At the time, the United States ordered China to close its Houston consulate, accusing it of being a hub for “massive illegal spying and influence operations.” China denied the allegations and retaliated by forcing a U.S. consulate in Chengdu to close. Under the Trump-era initiative, the Justice Department prosecuted people affiliated with the Chinese government for major computer breaches and for economic espionage. It also cracked down on China’s efforts to cultivate and influence academics at American colleges and research centers, arresting academics accused of improperly sharing technical expertise and other research. NORFOLK, Va. - A man has been arrested on charges related to a sexual assault investigation as Norfolk Police are continuing to investigate two undetermined deaths in the city.
While detectives were investigating the undetermined deaths, they discovered criminal activity unrelated to the incidents. That criminal activity resulted in the arrest of 43-year-old Michael Nse Eyo Ebong.
Ebong has been charged with rape, object sexual penetration and abduction. On November 15, 2020, around 8:30 a.m., police responded to the 1200 block of Hillside Avenue for the report of an unresponsive woman. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 36-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Around 9:10 a.m. on July 11 of this year, police again dispatched to the same area for the report of an unresponsive woman. Police and paramedics arrived, and the 30-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe that narcotics played a role in both incidents; however, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official manner and cause of death for both women. ‘It’s not acceptable’: Houston ambulance hijacked by (Black) at gunpoint with patient, EMTs inside 
HOUSTON – Houston police have a man in custody after they said he hijacked an ambulance at gunpoint Friday with a patient and emergency medical technician inside.
Firefighters said their ambulance was along the South Loop near Beechnut around 3 a.m. and in the process of traveling to take a patient to the hospital when a car stopped in front of the ambulance. Firefighters said a man with a gun pointed it at the EMT who was driving, forced him out, and got inside the ambulance with the patient and a veteran EMT in the back. Police said the man had fired rounds from his gun but not toward anyone. Houston police say this man hijacked an ambulance on the way to the hospital at gunpoint with a patient and EMT in the back. A woman was arrested Thursday for an alleged hate-driven, anti-Asian assault spree that left four people injured over the course of several months in Queens, police said.
Maricia Bell, 25, is accused of attacking three women — ages 75, 63 and 34 — and a 23-year-old man in four separate incidents in the borough beginning May 23, according to police.
In the first attack, Bell allegedly yelled, “Why are you talking to me?” before punching the man in a Flushing parking lot on Kissena Boulevard, cops said. Bell allegedly committed a similar assault against the 34-year-old woman inside a Pomonok bodega at about 6:40 p.m. June 16, according to police. At about 8 p.m. July 11, Bell is accused of slugging the 63-year-old woman in the face as the victim was walking near 72nd Avenue and Parsons Boulevard, according to police. In the latest incident, Bell allegedly whacked the 75-year-old woman with a hammer at 71st Avenue and Parsons Boulevard at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said. Hispanic Nevadan nabbed in Mexico convicted of murder at Sparks park 
RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Nevada man who was arrested in Mexico 10 months after he fled the scene of a fatal shooting at a Sparks regional park in December 2019 has been convicted of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon.
A Washoe County jury found Giovanni Gonzales-Mariscal, 20, of Sun Valley, guilty Thursday after a two-week trial in the death of 20-year-old Robert DeCoite of Sparks. He died of a gunshot wound to his face. Prosecutors said Gonzales-Mariscal fired 13 shots and hit two unoccupied vehicles and a residence during the shooting. He fled the country and was arrested in Jalisco, Mexico in September before U.S. Marshals transported him back to Nevada to stand trial. The afternoon shooting shut down the Spanish Springs Library at the Lazy 5 Regional Park northeast of Reno the following day while detectives investigated. CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A teenager and an adult are charged in the shooting death of a man police say they bated out twice with the promise of sex.
Luke Macke, 23, was found in a crashed car on Harrison Avenue in Westwood on June 24. He died at the scene from gunshot wounds.
Police say Christian Henderson,19, and Savannah Wilson, 16, used social media to lure Macke out “with the agreement of sex” on two separate dates. Henderson and Wilson’s intention was to rob Macke, according to police. On June 20, they attempted the ploy, but police say Macke was able fight them off “with assistance from citizens.” On June 24, police say they attempted it again, resulting in Macke’s death. Henderson and Wilson were identified through Facebook, Snapchat and an iCloud search warrant as well as a cell phone number, police say. They were arrested Wednesday with help from the Fugitive Apprehension Squad. Police say both have been charged with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery. Texas Man Who'd Been Fatally Shot Uses Dying Words to ID His (Black) Wife
A Texas woman was arrested Tuesday in the death of her husband whose dying words allegedly implicated her in his shooting, according to news reports.
Jacqueline Thomas, 43, reported her husband's shooting to police around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Houston Chronicle reported.
She allegedly told police the shooting of 42-year-old husband Eugene Liger was accidental, which didn't match with what he divulged to officers before he died. "At the scene, he was still conscious and alert enough to give a statement that was inconsistent with his wife's statement," Missouri City Police Captain Paul Poulton told the Chronicle. "It did not even closely match his wife's comments." Authorities have not revealed what Liger told them, or how it incriminated his wife. "Once the investigation is complete, [police] will turn the case over to us to review for formal charges," Wesley Wittig, Fort Bend County executive assistant district attorney, tells PEOPLE. (Black) Cantonment Man Charged With Battery, Strangulation Of His Pregnant Girlfriend
A Cantonment man is accused of the battery and strangulation of his girlfriend, who is 10 weeks pregnant with his child at the time.
Donquies A. Sledge III, 20, was charged with domestic aggravated battery on a pregnant female, domestic battery by strangulation and grand theft.
The victim told deputies that she had been living with Sledge, her boyfriend, since November 2020. She said she purchased a new car and registered it in her name. When Sledge arrived home from work, he became involved in a verbal altercation over the vehicle, according to his arrest report. The victim said her boyfriend believed the car to be his and was upset because she was driving it. She said the altercation became physical, and he allegedly grabbed her iPhone and ripped a necklace from her neck. Sledge pushed her into a wall, put both of his around her neck and choked her until she passed out, the report states. He also allegedly bit her on her elbow and bent her index finger back until it was almost broken. A deputy noted that the victim suffered numerous injuries. NAUGATUCK, CT (WFSB) - Two New Haven County residents are facing several charges following a crash involving a Naugatuck Police cruiser.
The incident unfolded on the evening of July 2.
Police say the crash stemmed from an investigation into a suspicious vehicle at the Walmart parking lot.
Officers were speaking with the driver of the vehicle, identified as 29-year-old Donta Crockett of West Haven, when the car took off, striking a parked vehicle on its way out. Investigators located the vehicle a short time later on South Main Street (Route 83) and chased after it. The vehicle proceeded to enter the wrong way along Route 8 in an effort to elude to capture. At the same time, a Naugatuck Police cruiser was entering Route 8 via the on ramp by Linden Park at North Main Street when it was struck head-on by Crockett's vehicle. Both vehicles became disabled as a result of the collision. he Naugatuck officer involved in the crash was taken to an area hospital for treatment, but was later released. Crockett and the lone passenger in the vehicle, identified as 28-year-old Jeffniqua Smith of New Haven, then fled the area on foot. Investigators were able to locate the two suspects, with the assistance of K9 Tommy, not too far away from the crash site on Curtis and North Main Streets and took them into custody. BEAUMONT — The Jefferson County grand jury has indicted three suspects for a strong-arm robbery of a 78-year-old woman at CVS on Dowlen Road.
Beaumont Police responded to CVS, 2950 Dowlen Road, at about 1:45 p.m. July 6 for a robbery in-progress call. Officers arrived and quickly obtained suspect and vehicle information from several witnesses.
Police say they learned a man committed a strong-arm robbery of a 78-year-old woman, pushing a shopping cart into her inside the CVS, taking her purse and running away, then getting into a newer model black Chrysler 200. The woman chased the man and fell outside of the pharmacy, causing injuries to her. Officers on scene broadcast suspect and vehicle description, including a partial license plate. Aushun Lavoris Price, 35, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of Frank Hosey, DeKalb sheriff’s office spokeswoman Cynthia Williams said in a news release.
According to authorities, Price shot the 40-year-old Covington man in a hotel room June 19. The man later died of his injuries, officials said. Investigators have not determined a motive for the shooting, according to Williams. It is not clear how Price was identified as a suspect. She was arrested at a location on Metropolitan Avenue in Atlanta, Williams said. Price was booked into the DeKalb County Jail, where she remains without bond. |

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two fugitives who were wanted in connection to a murder in Atlanta, Georgia have been arrested in Charlotte, according to police.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department received a report that two suspects wanted for a murder in Atlanta were possibly in the Charlotte area. On Tuesday around 9 p.m., two officers spotted what was believed to be the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver fled the scene.
Officers spent the next several hours searching for the vehicle that was later found in the parking lot of the QuikTrip on East Woodlawn Road in south Charlotte. Police then moved quickly to approach the vehicle, which was parked next to a pump. One of the suspects, identified as 33-year-old Demarcus Bussey, was inside the store when officer made contact with him, according to police. The second suspect, identified as 25-year-old Valencia Wilson, was still in the vehicle and was arrested without incident, according to a news release. Drugs and a stolen firearm were also found in the vehicle and said to belong to Bussey. According to CMPD, both suspects have been arrested for their outstanding warrants from Atlanta, and Bussey faces additional charges in Charlotte for possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana. |

A woman who drove drunk after a night out with co- workers in Kearny Mesa and ran over a colleague as he tried to prevent her from getting behind the wheel, killing him, was sentenced Monday to 15 years to life in state prison.
Latisha Ingram, 35, was convicted last year of second-degree murder and other charges for the June 27, 2019, death of 25-year-old Ha Minh Ta, who worked with the defendant at a Bank of America branch in Clairemont. According to prosecutors, Ingram’s blood-alcohol content was measured at .18%, more than twice the legal limit. She was charged with murder due to a 2010 DUI conviction in Orange County. Prosecutors said that following 20 minutes of trying to convince Ingram not to drive home drunk, Ta grabbed onto her car as she sped off and was dragged for some distance before falling beneath the tires. As Ingram drove out of the parking lot and turned southbound onto Convoy Street, Ta was holding onto her car and fell into the street. He was run over by the back tires, and the defendant continued driving, Cunningham said. Paramedics rushed Ta to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. Ingram was arrested a short time later. Police arrest 19-year-old (Black) man accused of abusing horse at Norfolk stable

A Boston man is facing multiple charges in connection with a reported sexual assault of a horse that happened in Norfolk last week, according to police.
Norfolk police say 19-year-old Jackson Z. Kelley, who lives in Boston's Allston neighborhood, turned himself in late Tuesday morning with his attorney.
Kelley was arrested, booked at the police station and transported to Wrentham District Court to be arraigned on the following charges: sexual contact with an animal, cruelty to animals and nighttime breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony. "The Norfolk Police Department would like to thank the public for taking the time to come forward and become involved," reads a statement from the department. "We received many calls providing information which eventually led to the identification of Kelley as the suspect." The MetroWest Daily News, a WCVB media partner, reports that during his arraignment on Tuesday, Kelley was ordered to be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing that is scheduled for Friday. LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — The Los Angeles Police Department Tuesday released video of an attempted daytime robbery in the Melrose area in hopes of catching the suspected driver.
According to LAPD, two suspects exited from an idling Dodge Avenger near Melrose Avenue and Vista Street at about 7:10 p.m. Monday. The video then shows the suspects confronting the victim with a handgun in hand.
The victim and the suspects seemed to exchange words before the victim produced a handgun, LAPD said in an apparent attempt to defend himself and the others in his group from the would-be robbery suspects, and shot at the suspects. Both the victims and the suspects fled the scene. A short time later, 22-year-old Nicholas Brown and 28-year-old Markeil Hayes were taken into custody and were found to have sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. (WKRN) — A man has been arrested after investigators said he walked into a downtown Nashville restaurant and attempted to rape a customer who was eating with her friends. Metro police responded around 8 p.m. on July 15 to a random attack at The Goat on Elm Street near Third Avenue South in the SoBro district. A warrant states the victim was sitting at a table with three of her friends, when a man, later identified as Fredrick Talley, walked in off the street. The 39-year-old suspect walked past their table and up to a bartender, where the two spoke briefly, according to investigators. Police said surveillance video from the restaurant showed Talley approach the victim from behind, pull down his pants and expose himself. KENNER - A man was tied up, beaten and dumped on the road after he arranged to meet with an ex-girlfriend from college last month.
Kenner Police said the victim, from Houston, arranged to meet with Mishanda Reed. She told him she would be in the New Orleans area the last weekend in June.
"She contacted him, and they agreed to meet down here," Lieutenant Michael Cunningham told NOLA.com.
Police said the victim did not know Mishanda Reed was married. The pair decided they would meet at an Airbnb in Kenner. Police said Mishanda's husband, Malcom Reed, was inside and armed with a gun when the victim entered. Officers told NOLA.com that the man was zip-tied to a chair, questioned about Mishanda Reed and beaten for several hours. Police said Malcom Reed used an aluminum bat, a gun and a knife during the brutal attack. The victim—who suffered a broken leg, broken arm and several injuries to his face—was dumped on the road after the beating. Someone on the corner of Richard Wilson Boulevard and Alliance Street saw the man and called for help. Mishanda and Malcom Reed were arrested in North Carolina on July 14 and were both booked for aggravated battery, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping and armed robbery. Police have arrested a man on multiple drug charges after a months-long investigation revolving around a road rage shooting.
Adrian F. Gonzalez, 29, of Mesa was arrested on July 15 and booked into the Maricopa County Jail on charges including drive-by shooting, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, misconduct with a weapon and child abuse.
Police said Gonzalez was initially under investigation for a road rage shooting that happened on Jan. 21 on the Loop 101 and Ray Road in Chandler. Gonzalez allegedly tried to crash his car into another vehicle and then shot at the other driver, officials said. No one was hurt in the incident. After the shooting, police investigated Gonzalez for months and reportedly saw him participate in consistent drug sales, including hand-to-hand transactions, officials said. Chandler Police searched Gonzalez's home on July 15 and found several firearms, one pound of methamphetamine, 100 fentanyl pills, heroin, cocaine, Xanax and suboxone. HISPANIC Chicago Teen Charged with First-Degree Attempted Murder of a Father and 2-Year-Old Boy: Police
A Chicago teen is accused of trying to murder a father, 31, and the victim’s 2-year-old toddler son in a shooting on the night of July 13.
Miguel Avelar, 18, was taken into custody on Monday evening on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, the Chicago Police Department said in a news release about the development. The police narrative contained very little information beyond basic facts about the alleged shooting, the victims, and Avelar’s subsequent arrest: The shooting, which occurred in Humboldt Park, left both victims wounded. Fugitive HISPANIC brothers in crime charged with murder in deadly double stabbing, prosecutor says 
Two fugitive brothers were charged with murder in the stabbing deaths of two men who were attacked in the parking lot of a Paterson school earlier this month, authorities said Tuesday.
Jose Edgar Martinez-Garcia, 33, and Francisco Martinez-Garcia, 27, were captured by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, according to authorities.
The Paterson brothers also face charges, including attempted murder and weapons offenses for the July 5 stabbings that killed Jaime Hernandez, 44, and Johnny Jimenez, 36, and left a third person wounded, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes. Police were called shortly after 4 a.m. to the parking lot of Paterson School No. 5 on Totowa Avenue, where they found Hernandez and Jimenez stabbed, the prosecutor said in a statement. Firefighters tried to revive the city men, who both died at the scene, authorities said. “Attempts were made to capture the two brothers, but they fled the jurisdiction. SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Salt Lake City police announced an arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing of a woman that happened in 2018.
Kidus Yohannes, 34, was arrested for the 2018 murder of 20-year-old Candace Samples.
"Homicide investigations are sometimes long and complicated but we never rest, and cases are never 'cold'," they said in the tweeted announcement. The stabbing took place in Salt Lake City on November 7, 2018. Samples was killed behind the Dollar Tree store located near 500 North and 300 West. Police say the suspect also stabbed a man who was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Samples' family said she had chosen to live on the streets and was homeless at the time she was murdered. Temple police report an arrest has been made and a man charged with murder in connection with a Saturday fatal shooting on Shallow Ford West Road.
Bond was set at $150,000 for 26-year-old August Shaton Sanders who lists a Fort Hood address.
Police were called to the 3900 block of Shallow Ford West at 4:21 a.m. Saturday on a report of a shooting and found 48-year-old Dewayne Hambrick dead. Police were told that two men had gotten into an argument and (the black) had shot the (White). Sanders was taken into custody at the scene and first transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center for medical clearance, then taken to the Bell County Jail where he remained Monday. BLACK-ON-WHITE: Leslie Scarlett identified as suspect in mass shooting, house fire in Tucson
TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - The suspect from the mass shooting and house fire in Tucson that left at least two dead has been identified as Leslie Stephen Scarlett.
Authorities said the 35-year-old Scarlett is in a local hospital in extremely critical condition. He will face a host of charges when he is released.
According to the Arizona Department of Corrections, Scarlett has a criminal history that includes a 2007 conviction for an attempted armed robbery. He was sentenced to six years and was released in August 2013. Sunday’s incident began with a call about a house fire near South Campbell Avenue and East Irene Vista at 3:45 p.m. At the same time, Scarlett allegedly went to the Quincie Douglas Center at Silverlake Park and shot at an ambulance that was staging as a backup for an unrelated medical call. A 20-year-old EMT was shot in the head was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Another EMT, a 21-year-old, was shot in the arm and chest and was stable. Magnus said the 21-year-old EMT was able to call for help and describe Scarlett and his vehicle, a silver SUV. Several Tucson Fire Department vehicles arrived at the house fire and began battling the blaze, along with help from neighbors. Scarlett allegedly then returned to the home and fired at fire crews and neighbors. One of the neighbors, 44-year-old Corey Michael Saunders, was hit in the head and died. Magnus said Saunders’ young son witnessed the shooting. Another neighbor was grazed and was unharmed. A fire captain, a 17-year veteran of TFD, was hit in the arm. TFD Chief Chuck Ryan said the captain was released from the hospital Sunday night. CHICAGO — A man accused of opening fire with an AK-47 assault rifle in the fatal shooting of 7-year-old Jaslyn Adams in April was arrested by the FBI this week, according to a federal court filing on Tuesday.
Devontay Davoucci Anderson, 21, was arrested by the FBI in Chicago on Monday, the Chicago Tribune reported. Anderson was arrested on federal charges of unlawfully fleeing to avoid prosecution for the girl’s slaying, FBI Supervisory Special Agent David Habich wrote in the filing, the newspaper reported. Habich also asked a federal judge to dismiss a complaint filed in U.S. District Court on April 29. The FBI had offered up to a $25,000 reward for information leading to Anderson’s arrest and conviction, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. Two other men, Demond Goudy, 21, and Marion Lewis, 18, have also been charged in connection with the child’s death on April 18 in the drive-thru lane of a McDonald’s restaurant, WGN-TV reported. Both have been charged with first-degree murder and are being held in jail without bail, according to the Sun-Times. Prosecutors said Lewis was the getaway driver in the shooting but did not fire any of the shots. Both men are being held without bail, the newspaper reported. |

CHICAGO -- The getaway driver in the 2013 fatal shooting of a Chicago high school honor student who just days before her death had performed at President Barack Obama's second inauguration festivities was sentenced Tuesday to 42 years in prison.
The driver, Kenneth Williams, was convicted in 2018 of first-degree murder in the shooting of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, whose death led to a national outcry about Chicago’s gun violence. Two other teenagers were wounded in the shooting.
Cook County Circuit Judge Diana Kenworthy on Tuesday ordered Williams to serve 35 years for the murder conviction and seven more years for aggravated battery.
Pendleton died just days after she performed as a majorette with her high school band at Obama’s inauguration festivities. The scene of the shooting is about a mile from the former president's home in Kenwood on Chicago's South Side..... Micheail Ward, the man convicted of shooting at Pendleton and her friends at a park near their high school, was sentenced in 2019 to 84 years in prison. Prosecutors said the teens were innocent victims of a yearslong gang war. Ward and Williams were arrested on the day of Pendleton’s funeral, a service attended by then-first lady Michelle Obama. Under questioning by investigators, Ward initially admitted to being the shooter and said he had acted on Williams’ orders. Bail was denied Sunday for an Army veteran who allegedly shot and killed a man after they took psychedelic drugs together this weekend and engaged in sex with a woman who witnessed the attack.
Tajh Moore, 31, of Robbins, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting early Saturday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, according to Chicago police and Cook County prosecutors.
The victim and witness, both 31, were doing errands Saturday when they picked up Moore and drove together to the woman’s home in the 2800 block of West Van Buren Street, Assistant State’s Attorney Jim Papa said during Moore’s initial court hearing. Moore was in a relationship with the woman, who previously had two children with the man he allegedly killed, Papa said. The victim hasn’t been identified by the Cook County state’s attorney’s office. While at the woman’s home, they all had sex together after taking LSD, ecstasy or a cocktail of both psychedelic drugs, Papa said. Afterward, the group decided to go downtown to hit some bars. Moore, who had a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card and a concealed carry license, was allegedly carrying a gun when the others picked him up, Papa said. The other man also had a gun, but he left it in the woman’s bedroom. About 1:45 a.m. Saturday, as the woman was pulling a car out at the home, Moore allegedly shot the man once in the back of the head while he sat in the back passenger seat, according to prosecutors and police. SEQUOYAH COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) – Agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are investigating a double shooting in Sequoyah County.
Around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office was called to mile marker 293 on I-40 after a bystander noticed two men lying in the roadway.
Investigators soon learned that the two victims had been shot. Authorities believe the victims were good Samaritans who had picked up a man and took him to the Love’s convenience store in Vian to get a gas can and gasoline. Agents believe the victims drove the suspect back to his car at which point they were shot. It is believed the suspect put gas in his vehicle and left the area, possibly eastbound on I-40. He may be in the Antlers area. OSBI officials say they are now searching for Lee King, who is described as an African American man, between the ages of 25 and 35. GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - An Oklahoma woman visiting South Mississippi with her family is in the hospital recovering after police say she was brutally assaulted Monday at a Gulfport shopping center.
Authorities say the suspect - identified as 28-year-old Andrew Malik Jones - was waiting inside the restroom at Gulfport Premium Outlets when the victim entered around 6:43pm. The victim told police Jones pushed her into a stall, physically assaulted her, then raped her. Police say the suspect then grabbed the victim’s purse and tried to flee. The victim’s husband told WLOX Jones tried run through the parking lot towards Interstate 10 but the husband and others stopped him, holding him there until officers arrived. The woman received serious injuries, including a fracture to her skull, said her husband. She was later taken to a New Orleans hospital to be treated for her injuries. The husband told WLOX that he and his wife live in Oklahoma and are visiting the Mississippi Gulf Coast with their young daughter. Jones is now charged with robbery and sexual battery. 2 (blacks) arrested in connection to wild shootout at Club Paradise 
TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple Police Department announced on Tuesday that its officers arrested two people in connection to a wild shootout at Club Paradise that happened in June.
Police identified the suspects as 18-year-old Jamaal Dlexon Florence and a 17-year-old. 6 News is not naming the teen because he is a minor and not being charged as an adult.
The shooting, which happened on June 26, was caught on surveillance video and shows numerous people outside Club Paradise, with some physically fighting, when a young man starts shooting at a group of people on the other side of the club's gravel parking lot. According to police, officers conducted a felony stop in the 600 block of S. 7th Street in Temple. Both Florence and the teen had warrants for deadly conduct in connection to the shootout. Both were arrested and taken to the Bell County Jail without incident. The investigation is still ongoing. Drone video captured the moment police fatally shot a California man after he pointed a gun at an officer — a weapon that turned out to be a "real-looking" BB gun, authorities said.
The man, Gerardo Martinez, 19, was fatally shot by Salinas Police Officer Mario Reyes on Friday night, Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni said in a statement.
A neighbor called 911 and reported that Martinez had aimed a handgun at him about five minutes earlier, officials said.
"He pointed it at us and he's really drunk right now," the neighbor said, according to the statement released Monday. "I need an officer over here A-S-A-P." The neighbor said the handgun might be a BB gun, "but who knows," officials said. The 911 caller also remarked that the weapon could be a small-caliber pistol, the statement said. The neighbor said he believed Martinez was also "under the influence of methamphetamine" and told 911 dispatch that Martinez had attacked and vandalized his property before, Pacioni's statement said. The first officer arrived at 8:07 p.m., six minutes after the neighbor called 911, officials said. More officers arrived shortly thereafter. All officers wore clearly marked uniforms, Pacioni's statement said, and by 8:35 p.m., officers had positioned two fully marked patrol vehicles about 50 feet from Martinez's home. Reyes had positioned himself with a patrol rifle about 50 feet from Martinez's home. Martinez partly exited through a side door about 8:36 p.m., the statement said. Officers commanded him in Spanish to come out with his hands up. Martinez exited through the side door several more times as officers issued commands, officials said. At 8:37 p.m., Martinez exited through the door and pointed a weapon at Reyes. "In response, Officer Reyes fired three rounds from his patrol rifle. An Oklahoma man has been arrested and charged with first-degree rape for allegedly impregnating a 12-year-old girl.
Juan Miranda-Jara, 24, walked into Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa July 14 with a child in mid-labor.
Doctors called police, telling them they had a rape victim and Miranda-Jara was arrested. Miranda-Jara had reportedly told officers he was the father of the child and appeared not to understand what all the fuss was about. "They walked in just like any other couple would, excited to deliver their newborn child," Tulsa Police Officer Danny Bean told FOX23. Fox News has reached out to the Tulsa Police Department seeking further information but did not hear back before publication. The details of Miranda-Jara’s relationship with the 12-year-old girl are not clear at this time. Investigators are trying to piece together how Miranda-Jara was able to impregnate the girl and how that pregnancy carried through to full-term without anyone alerting police. "We know there are many people in the community who are shocked by this, grossed out by this, disturbed by this, have questions, a whole range of emotions," he said. "But in time, we will be able to give the community the answers they want. We just don’t have all the answers right now to give them, and we don’t want to compromise the investigation that’s still happening and really just now getting started." Now four months later, it turns out, it was all a lie. That woman is 52-year-old Alma Duran, and the reason for her false claim was her hopes of gaining U.S. citizenship. She is in the country illegally and wanted to find a loophole in the process known as ‘U-Visa’, to obtain citizenship papers due to being a victim of a violent crime. “It’s a lot of late nights, a lot of time away from their families trying to investigate this because it’s a concern, and for good reason, we have our own families here in this community so if somebody is running around kidnapping people, drugging them, raping them, we need to find that person and quick,” MCSO Public Relations Director, Sgt. Paul Bloom said. She was first reported missing when a co-worker could not find her during her shift at the Baseline Golf Course. She was later found naked laying on the side of highway 314 near Sharpes Ferry. She had been having an affair with him for the past five years. He didn’t want participate, but she convinced him to help her with her plan, and had consensual sexual relations with her. BLACK-ON-WHITE: Man pleads not guilty in Hackle sibling, Bobbielynn Moore murder case
NASHVILLE, Ga. (WALB) - Keyante Greene entered a plea of not guilty to the charges listed on the murder indictment against him Thursday morning in Berrien Superior Court.
Greene, along with Jonathan Vann, was charged in connection to the deaths of Wayne and Mercedes Hackle and Bobbielynn Moore in March 2019.
Wayne and Moore’s bodies were found in Atkinson County and Mercedes’ body was found in Berrien County. The Alapaha District Attorney is seeking the death penalty for Vann and Greene for Mercedes’ death in Berrien County. Greene and his attorney waived a formal arraignment. The state and the defense did not set a time for trial at Thursday’s hearing but did set a 30-day deadline for discovery in the case. There is a 120-day deadline for motions to be filed, but this could be changed later on because of the large number of files in the case. The defense did not ask the judge for a speedy trial, as is frequently the case. “We do need to fix a deadline so that we don’t let years extended amounts of time go by and motions keep popping along,” Chase Studstill, district attorney, said. Studstill said he gave the defense partial discovery Thursday. Attorneys are taking steps to get Greene to trial. Family members of the three killed have been waiting since March 2019 for the case to go to trial. Both the defense and state acknowledged the steps before trial will take some time. BLACK-ON-WHITE: Man accused of Sunday morning shooting makes court appearance
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The man accused of shooting and killing 28-year-old Stormy Clere Sunday morning had his bond set during a court appearance on Monday morning.
24-year-old Feymon Walker had his bond set at $1 million. Walker is facing a murder charge for allegedly killing Clere in a parking lot around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
Toledo Police detectives said off-duty officers were downtown when they heard gunshots ring out. The off-duty officers then located Clere, 28, who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound in a parking lot on Monroe Street between Huron and N. Erie Street. The Lucas County Coroner’s Office said Monday Clere died from multiple gunshot wounds, ruling his death a homicide. BLACK-ON-WHITE: Chesapeake man charged with felony hit-and-run, 2 counts of murder after police pursuit ends in crash
CHESAPEAKE, Va. - A 23-year-old man is facing criminal charges including two murder charges and felony eluding of police after a pursuit ended in a fatal crash in Chesapeake Thursday night.
According to the Chesapeake Police Department, Ishmell Seymore has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder, felony eluding and felony hit-and-run.
At around 6:07 p.m. Thursday, police attempted to stop a dark sedan driving recklessly on I-64 West. The sedan's driver, Seymore, did not stop and took the Greenbrier Parkway exit, where he struck another vehicle in the intersection of Crossways Boulevard and Jarman Road. Seymore then ran away from the scene on foot and was caught by police in the 600 block of Jarman Road. The driver of the vehicle Seymore struck was killed on impact, and the vehicle's passenger died at the hospital, police said. The victims have been identified as 65-year-old David Jones and 54-year-old Jennifer O'Connell, both from Chesapeake. The incident remains under investigation. BLACK-ON-WHITE: Man charged in shooting death of Somerville roommate
SOMERVILLE, Mass. — A man charged in the shooting death of his roommate in Somerville was held without bail Thursday.
Edson Moreno, 26, was arrested Wednesday after an incident inside a two-family home on Ware Street.
Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said the victim, identified as 22-year-old Robert Favreau, of Cambridge, was found inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead a short time after first responders arrived. Favreau and his sister were staying with the accused gunman, according to authorities. Ryan said when police arrived, they encountered a man, Moreno, outside the home with a gun. Investigators said Moreno was a resident inside the Ware Street home, and the victim had been staying with him for several months. Ryan said the victim and Moreno allegedly got into a verbal altercation Wednesday evening that escalated to the shooting. The victim's sister, who was also staying in the apartment, was hiding in the closet during the argument that led to the shooting that killed Favreau. Police credit her 911 call from the closet as a big help in the quick arrest. In court Thursday, the prosecutor said Moreno admitted to the shooting. He was charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm, Ryan said. A Hackensack man was charged in the attempted murder of man who was found shot multiple times on the street a week ago, authorities said Monday.
Willie Mann, 26, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree attempted murder and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.
Hackensack police received a 911 call about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 11 reporting shots fired and found a 28-year-old man wounded in the area of Newman Street, Musella said in a statement. The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center on Monday, where he remained on Monday, Musella said. After an investigation, detectives determined that Mann had “shot the victim multiple times and fled the scene,” Musella said. No motive was given. Mann was held in the Bergen County Jail pending a court appearance, according to the prosecutor’s office. |

HUNTINGDON CO, Pa (WJAC) — State police say a Philadelphia man has been arrested and charged with attempted homicide in connection to the "vicious" attack of an elderly Huntingdon County woman last month, according to a criminal complaint.
Troopers say 31-year-old Derrick Harrison faces charges of attempted homicide, attempted murder, burglary, robbery, theft and aggravated assault in connection to the attack on June 20th.
Investigators say Harrison broke into the home of an 86-year-old woman along Fannettsburg Pike in Shade Gap. Police say Harrison "viciously beat" the woman, robbed her and stole her car. The complaint states that authorities were able to track the victim's car along the Turnpike, where they found several credit cards, in Harrison's name, discarded along the roadway. Upon further investigation, police were also able to track the victim's phone, which Harrison had stolen, and had reportedly used to contact someone for a ride. Court documents show that Harrison was later arrested on July 16th, and has since been extradited to the Huntingdon County Prison. 3 suspects face charges for slapping kid around, shaving word ‘gay’ into hair CNN)Three people in Fulton County, Georgia, have been arrested and charged after the Atlanta Police Department's Special Victims Unit became aware of a social media video that appeared to show a young male being abused, possibly because of his sexual orientation, according to Atlanta Police Sgt. John Chafee. According to an incident report released by Atlanta Police, the video appeared to show the boy with his hair shaved past his hairline and the letters "GA" cut into his hair. The reports said a male can be seen in the video yelling at the child and hitting him in the head, saying, "You still doing gay sh*t. You think I cut this in your head for no reason?" The report said the man then slapped the child on the side of his head while holding the top of the child's head with his other hand. There were two additional videos, the incident report said. including one with the child stating he was not abused and another that showed the child -- with an altered hairline and "Gay" written on the side -- being teased. The child was identified and placed into Georgia Division of Family & Children Services custody the next night, the release said. His age was not released. Police identified the suspects as Lorkeyla Jamia Spencer, 19; Brittney Monique Mills, 35; and Jordan Jarrode Richards-Nwankwo, 18. An ex-con wearing a tie-dye T-shirt split a cop’s head open with a glass bottle on a Brooklyn sidewalk, and told the officer and his partner, “I’m going to kill you” when they busted him, authorities alleged Monday.
The officer’s body-worn camera captured the sneak attack early Sunday morning, which left the cop with multiple gashes to the head and neck that had to be closed with surgical staples and stitches, the NYPD said.
A 22-second clip posted on social media shows the cop was smoking a cigarette near a parked NYPD cruiser with flashing lights when a young man in a rainbow-colored shirt emblazoned with the words “FEED YOUR DREAM” inside a triangle approached and began speaking. Without warning, the assailant lashed out at the cop and ran off as another cop chased after him, the video shows. The cops were assigned to “a fixed post to address community concerns” when the attack took place around 4:45 a.m. near East 51st Street and Church Avenue in Flatbush, the NYPD said. A suspect — identified by law-enforcement sources as Tyshaun Holloway, 27, of Hackensack, N.J. — was caught about a block away, where he allegedly began “flailing and swinging” to avoid arrest, an NYPD spokesman said. Holloway stands just 5-foot-5 and weighs 160 pounds, according to jail records. A criminal complaint alleges that he was found hiding under a parked car by the injured cop and his partner. When they pulled him out, Holloway allegedly screamed, “Get off me, you f–king bitch, I’m going to kill you all as soon as I can,” according to the complaint. Holloway was charged with assaulting a police officer, menacing, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Holloway has prior arrests that include a pair of September 2016 assaults on NYPD cops in The Bronx. A woman who was on the run for allegedly being an accessory to a murder in March has been arrested after commenting on the police department’s Facebook post asking about her reward money.
The strange ordeal began last Wednesday when the Tulsa Police Department in Oklahoma posted a couple of images of Lorraine Graves on Facebook as part of their “Weekly Most Wanted” campaign.
“The Tulsa Police Department is looking for information about the whereabouts of Lorraine Graves,” the post read. “Lorraine Graves is charged with Accessory to Murder. Detectives say she was involved in the city’s 10th homicide of 2021 where Eric Graves was shot and killed at the St. Thomas Square Apartments.” Not long after the post went up, authorities saw a familiar name in the comments section: Lorraine Graves. “Where’s the reward money at,” Lorraine Graves can be seen posting after she saw that she was on the “Weekly Most Wanted” list, on a screen shot shared by the Tulsa Police Department. Her comment, perhaps unsurprisingly, sparked a lot of reaction on social media. “Giiiiirl you better stay off social media they can track you !!” one person commented. “Aint gonna be as funny when you get processed,” said another in an image shared by the Tulsa Police Department. Scroggins has been wanted since September 2019 when he allegedly violated his parole and absconded from his last known address in Tyler. His criminal history also includes felony convictions for assault against a public servant and possession of a prohibited weapon. Scroggins also has ties to other communities in east Texas including Garrison, Nacogdoches and Whitehouse. RIDGELAND, Miss. — A Hinds County investigator who was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault this week, is no longer employed by the Hinds County Sheriff's Office.
The Hinds County Sheriff's Office announced Friday that Samuel Edwin Dukes, 39, is no longer working for the (Sheriff's) department.
"Samuel Dukes is no longer employed with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office," Captain Tyree Jones said in a statement. "This is as a result of an internal investigation by HCSO stemming from an arrest earlier this week in Ridgeland for domestic violence." Officials with the sheriff's department would not comment further on the investigation. Dukes was arrested Wednesday by Ridgeland police. Officers were called before 10 p.m. Wednesday to Sunchase Apartments, where they found a woman inside an apartment building with injuries that were consistent with choking, according to Ridgeland Police Chief John Neal. The woman told officers that she was in a "relationship" with Dukes and said he was responsible for her injuries, Neal said. Dukes was outside the apartment building when officers arrived. Neal said he identified himself to officers as a Hinds County deputy. Capt. Tyree Jones, with the Hinds County Sheriff's Office, confirmed that Dukes was an investigator and that he had been employed for about a year. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A Memphis man is being charged with attempted second degree murder after firing shots at Miller Creek Apartments.
According to the affidavit, 23-year-old Elliot Griham was identified as a suspect in a shooting at Miller Creek Apartments in January.
The report says Griham had an altercation with his girlfriend, Zauria Gary, and Gary’s father, Mario Gary, had spoke with Griham over the phone and agreed to meet to talk about the altercation. Zauria, her mother and Mario went to Griham’s apartment, but said they could not get into the gate to meet with him. The affidavit says Mario called Griham, who told them to come back to their apartment. As the Gary family pulled back into the apartment complex, a silver Altima was leaving and shots were fired from the passenger side of the vehicle at Mario’s car. The report says the bullets struck an occupied apartment but there were no injuries. Griham is charged with three counts criminal attempt second degree murder, reckless endangerment, discharging a firearm into an occupied habitation and employing a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony. GLENDALE, Ariz. — A shooting involving a Glendale police officer happened Tuesday afternoon and is currently under investigation.
Police said that an officer spotted a car driving recklessly along Cardinal Way before striking a curb, street sign and stoplight.
The officer then followed the car down to Missouri Avenue where police said the driver exited the car and started running. The suspect, 24-year-old Gabino Hernandez, allegedly pulled out a gun and fired at the officer but missed. The officer fired back at the man but also missed. Police said Hernandez stole a bike and briefly escaped before a K-9 tracked him down near Medlock Drive with the help of a witness who called 911. Hernandez was arrested, and no injuries were reported.
