BLACK-ON-WHITE: Grandmother fatally punched in French Quarter; brother has 'no earthly idea why'
Police say suspect punched in her face, causing fall and hitting her head on concrete
The brother of an Alabama-born grandmother who was fatally punched on a French Quarter street last week is trying to understand what motivated her killing, but he expressed relief Wednesday that police had captured a suspect.
“We have no earthly idea why this happened,” said Jeffrey Johnson, brother of Margaret “Jane” Johnson Street. “It won’t bring my sister back, but it helps knowing who did it and that they have him.”
New Orleans police say Johnson Street, 61, got into an argument with Jeremiah Mark, 23, in the 100 block of Royal Street on April 18 at about 7:45 p.m. Details about the argument haven’t been available, but Mark punched Johnson Street in the face, causing her to fall backward and hit her head on the concrete, police wrote in a sworn statement filed in Criminal District Court. She was taken to University Medical Center, where staffers diagnosed her with a traumatic brain injury. She died April 20, and her death was classified a homicide after an autopsy two days later, police said. Police said they didn’t immediately know Mark’s name, but they released a photo of him to the public and asked for help in identifying him because they wanted to question him. Mark saw the picture in the news media and met with investigators April 22. Police said he told them “he used his hand to push [Street] in the face.” They booked him with manslaughter, which Louisiana law defines as an unintentional yet unjustifiable killing. Magistrate Court Commissioner Jonathan Friedman set Mark’s bail at $100,000, and he remained in custody Wednesday evening. KALISPELL — A California man who is accused in the death of a man outside of the VFW in Whitefish last summer pleaded guilty to a charge of felony negligent homicide in Flathead County District Court on Thursday.
Xavier Chenault, 22, of Sacramento, originally pleaded not guilty in January in the death of 25-year-old Steven Speer of Whitefish.
Chenault signed a binding plea agreement on April 6 and is facing a 15-year sentence to the Montana State Prison with 10 years suspended. Chenault’s sentencing is set for May 20. According to charging documents, Whitefish Police were called to the VFW Bar and Grill on July 30 where they found Speer unresponsive with a severe head injury. Individuals at the scene -- including Chenault -- indicated to officers that no fight had occurred and informed officers that Speer was intoxicated and had fallen to the ground. A Whitefish Police Department investigation which included security footage and interviews with additional witnesses found that Speer had been in an altercation with Chenault and that the victim had been knocked to the ground. Speer was transported to the hospital on the night of the incident and later died from his injuries on Aug. 2. During testimony on Thursday, Chenault told District Judge Robert Allison that he was “taking responsibility for my actions” by changing his plea to guilty. However, that was not the case as Speer’s death was tucked away in the recesses of the “Pilot” under “deaths” with no mention at all of the actual event. BLACK-ON-WHITE: High Point police: Woman killed after suffering multiple stab wounds during attack at home
HIGH POINT, N.C. — Police said John Wesley Hemingway, 48, will be charged with first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing a woman to death Wednesday at a High Point home.
Officers with the High Point Police Department said they were called to a home located at 1208 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to investigate an assault with a deadly weapon.
Officers said they found Deborah Maxi, 38, suffering from multiple stab wounds to her neck, chest and forearm.
Maxi was taken to High Point Regional Hospital and later transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, where she later died.
Hemingway then called 911 and then drove himself to the police department, where he turned himself in to officers.
He is being held at the Guilford County Jail in High Point without bond.

LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - Authorities in Lamar County have released the identity of the man accused of killing his girlfriend and kidnapping her teenage daughter over the weekend.
Sheriff Danny Rigel confirmed
Derek Tyrone Crockrum, 27, is being held on charges of murder and kidnapping.
Crockrum is accused of shooting his girlfriend to death at a home on Oak Grove Road on Saturday morning. Lamar County Coroner Blake Matherne identified the victim as 37-year-old Faye Cornett. After the deadly shooting, Rigel said Crockrum kidnapped the Cornett’s 15-year-old daughter and drove her to Petal. Rigel said the girl got away from Crockrum around noon and ran inside a store in Petal to call police. Crockrum was arrested a short time later. According to Rigel, two handguns were found inside the vehicle Crockrum was driving. (Black) Man charged with murder in connection to Florence County homicide
FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A Pee Dee man is facing murder charges in connection to a deadly shooting.
Maj. Mike Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office said deputies are investigating the incident, which happened in Johnsonville on Saturday.
Nunn also said 22-year-old Jaylin Tyhon Zeandre Thompkins, of Johnsonville, was later arrested by investigators. Thompkins is charged with one count each of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He’s being held at the Florence County Detention Center. |
3 (Black) teens charged with murder in shooting death of Sanaa Amenhotep
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department has arrested an 18-year-old and two juveniles in connection with the shooting death of 15-year-old Sanaa Amenhotep.
Treveon Nelson and the two minors have been charged with murder, kidnapping, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
The names of the juveniles, a male and a female, will not be released because they are under the age of 18. “This is a complex and multilayered investigation,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Over the past few days, we talked a lot with the two minors as we were searching for Nelson. Based on information from those interviews, detectives determined there was probable cause to arrest the teens. Nelson was arrested in this case as soon as we found him Friday evening.” Nelson and the two minors are accused of fatally shooting Amenhotep in a field in the 500 block of Rish Road in Leesville on April 5. COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - A man out on bond for another crime has been arrested for a murder at a nightclub in Colleton County.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office arrested 23-year-old Keyrone Lemon for the shooting at the VIP Ultra Lounge nightclub that killed one man and left two others critically injured last weekend.
Lemon is charged with murder, attempted murder, and two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was locked up at the Colleton County Detention Center, and awaiting a bond hearing. According to the sheriff’s office, at the time of his arrest Lemon was out on bond for his involvement in a murder that happened in June of 2019. The investigation into the nightclub shooting is continuing, and the sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information to call (843) 549-2211. |

FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Officers are looking for a man accused of killing someone Friday afternoon in Ferguson.
According to police, they are currently looking for Ronnie Edwards, 21, after a man was found shot to death at the Oakmont Townhomes in the 1600 block of Norlakes Drive. The murder happened around noon, and police say the incident began with a fight inside the home.
The man killed, identified as Antonia Huey, a 65-year-old, reportedly knew Edwards. The suspect was often at the home, and fled the scene following the shooting. Police are still conducting interviews, but said they do not believe there is a threat to the surrounding community. VENICE, Ill. (KMOV.com) - A suspect has been in charged in connection with the shooting death of Metro East football player Jaylon McKenzie.
Jaylen Staten, 20, is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, and aggravated unlawful use of weapons. He is currently being held in the St. Clair County Jail on unrelated charges, prosecutors tell News 4.
McKenzie and a 15-year-old girl were hit by a stray bullet as they were leaving a party at a home on Third Street in Venice, Illinois on May 4, 2019. A man had admitted the kidnap and rape of
a 13-year-old girl on her way to school.
Kadian Nelson, 27, followed the schoolgirl in south west London before approaching her from behind and putting one hand over her mouth and another on her head.
Nelson also threatened to kill the girl and forced her to walk towards an alleyway in Mitcham on November 3 last year, the Crown Prosecution Service said. He told her to take off her coat and school blazer before sexually assaulting her, then put his own jacket on the victim. Police were alerted when a woman called 999 saying her daughter had seen a man grab a young girl. When one of the woman's relatives interrupted Nelson, he told her the victim was his sister, the CPS said. Following the incident, the Metropolitan Police named Nelson as a suspect and urged him to come forward for his own safety. Local residents were told not to take the law into their own hands after angry groups gathered at addresses in the area as news of the incident spread on social media. Nelson appeared at Kingston Crown Court on Monday where he admitted kidnap, rape and making a threat to kill, the CPS said in a statement. Cops on Saturday released a surveillance photo of the unidentified suspect, who pummeled the victim in Greenwich Village on Friday at about 3:15 p.m.
The victim was walking in front of Salvation Army headquarters at 120 West 14th St., between Sixth and Seventh avenues, when the (cowardly worthless low-life sub-human fecal-skinned predator) approached him from behind and socked him in the right side of the face, police said. Tahesia Thomas was charged with robbery in the first degree, larceny in the second degree, and threatening in the second degree Monday night. (Black) Man accused in (White female) Newport News officer’s killing gets only - "NO JUSTICE"
NEWPORT NEWS — A Newport News man accused of dragging a rookie police officer to her death last year was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison on federal gun and drug convictions stemming from the case.
U.S. District Judge Arenda Wright Allen ruled that the federal sentence for Vernon E. Green II will run consecutively to any punishment he gets on a pending state murder charge in Newport News.
Court documents say Green was sitting in a parked car on 16th Street on Jan. 23, 2020, when Officer Katherine “Katie” Thyne and another Newport News police officer were questioning him about smoking marijuana. The officers approached Green after another officer — watching the parking lot by way of a remote video camera — passed word that Green and a female passenger might be smoking pot. As the officers were questioning him, court documents say, Green suddenly hit the gas pedal and took off — leaving the 24-year-old Thyne trapped by the fleeing car before it crashed near a tree. Green is charged with felony homicide, a form of second-degree murder for accidental deaths in the course of another felony — in this case, eluding police. Several months later, federal prosecutors hit Green with two federal counts: Possessing a gun as a convicted felon and another pot charge. A statement of facts that was part of an October plea agreement said officers found a 9mm handgun in a cooler bag outside Green’s wrecked car. The bag had Green’s fingerprints and his work ID. Green, being held at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail, has a probable cause hearing slated for May 25 on the murder case in Newport News. He faces up to 71 years on the those charges. (Black) Alleged Steakhouse shooter wanted for armed robbery in North Carolina
The suspect in the shootings outside Brooklyn’s Peter Luger Steakhouse has five open warrants against him in North Carolina — including for a gunpoint-robbery case in which cops warn he should “be considered armed and very dangerous,” The Post has learned.
Arkies Sommerville, 24, allegedly committed the armed robbery in Littleton, NC, on Feb. 2 with his younger brother, Armel Sommerville, who was busted on an unrelated murder charge earlier this month.
The Somervilles are accused of stealing an undisclosed amount of money and valuables from a man who was tied up, beaten and had a gun held to his head inside his Cherry Street home, according to a Facebook post by the Littleton Police Department. The Feb. 7 post included photos of Arkies and Armel and said they were likely in “the Littleton area as well as Halifax and surrounding counties. “If either suspect is seen we urge caution and recommend calling 911 immediately as both are to be considered armed and very dangerous,” the department added. Earlier this month, the Northampton County, NC, Sheriff’s Department announced that Armel, 19, was busted April 16 in the slaying of Raheem Scott, 23, whose bullet-riddled body was found at the West Wynn Mobile Home Park in Garysburg three days earlier. Armel was ordered held without bond on charges of first-degree murder and discharging a firearm in the city limits, the sheriff’s department said in a Facebook post. The rapper was originally charged with rape but accepted a deal and pleaded guilty to first-degree assault at the Florence County courthouse. BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) —
William Gray, 60, of Buffalo pleaded guilty Tuesday to a felony charge for making a false 911 call to Buffalo Police that resulted in a serious crash.
The Buffalo native negro pleaded guilty to one count of falsely reporting an incident.
Gray claimed there was a person with a knife on Wyoming Avenue. While responding to the April 15, 2020 call, a Buffalo Police officer’s patrol car, with their emergency lights flashing, collided with another vehicle on Main Street near Benwood Avenue. The crash also injured two pedestrians, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s office. The BPD officer, two people in the other vehicle and two pedestrians were all transported to a hospital. Everyone was treated and released, except one pedestrian who continues to recover from their injuries. Gray admitted to making the false 911 call “that resulted in serious physical injury as a result of a crash involving an emergency vehicle that was responding to the defendant’s false report of a person with a knife.” The 60-year-old will be back in court for sentencing on July 12 at 10:30 a.m. facing a maximum of seven years in prison. Gray remains released on his own recognizance. |
NYPD looking for deranged driver who ran over school bus driver
An unhinged motorist intentionally mowed down a 44-year-old school bus driver in Brooklyn and the horrific episode was captured on video, police said Saturday.
The 17-second clip shows the moments just before the disturbing incident Friday at around 5:15 p.m. at Hinsdale Street and Linden Boulevard in East New York – and the horrific conclusion.
The man is seen stomping out of a gray Subaru and deliberately marching toward the front of a yellow school bus stopped at a light. It wasn’t immediately clear from the footage if the man damaged the bus. But the female bus driver then gets out and begins to either record or take a photograph of the Subaru. The man storms back to his car and once inside floors the gas pedal — running over the woman, leaving her in the middle of the street as he drives off south on Hinsdale, authorities said. “The guy goes up to the school bus. Looks like he broke glass. She goes to take a picture and he runs her over,” an NYPD spokesman said Saturday. The suspect and victim do not know each other, said the spokesman who declined to speculate whether the suspect lost it because the bus had not been moving fast enough for his liking. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A man is under arrest after police say he went on a wild and destructive rampage in a U-Haul truck, striking outdoor diners in Fishtown and nearly running over police officers during a chase. It all started when the driver pulled up to The International Bar on the corner of North Front Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue, just after 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police say 43-year-old Benigno Melendez reached over the wooden partition at the restaurant and stole the purse of a woman seated there. Then in an attempt to get away, the driver smashed into the setup, hit a 62-year-old man who was dining out and hit a 26-year-old man who was on a motorcycle.

Members of MS-13 and other gangs are slipping across the southern border, hidden in the waves of thousands of Mexican and Central American migrants who continue to surge into the US.

News crew spots (black) Arizona murder suspect, alerts police, films arrest
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — A local television news crew spotted an Arizona murder suspect near the Atlanta airport and flagged police, who took the man back into custody after a daylong search.
The reporter and photojournalist with WSB-TV said they saw Jsaan Carlos Strover, 20, as they were driving down a road near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport around 11:15 p.m. Thursday.
Reporter Matt Johnson said he and photojournalist Joe Booker were in their live truck when Strover ran by and into some bushes. Johnson said police were nearby, so they flagged down an officer and then started filming as the suspect was arrested. Strover was wanted for murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault in Arizona. He was arrested by U.S. Marshals in the Atlanta area on April 12 on other charges, but was already wanted in Arizona. He had gotten away from two Maricopa County deputies while they were dropping off a rental car at the airport earlier in the day. Fulton County, Georgia, Sheriff Patrick Labat told reporters Strover had run away after deputies unshackled his legs so he could walk down stairs. “They removed the leg restraints to escort him down the steps and at that point he pushed past them,” Labat said. Dozens of officers from multiple agencies had searched for Strover with dogs and helicopters Thursday. Suspect arrested for shooting that killed one, injured another at gentlemen’s club
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department has arrested a suspect wanted for a shooting at a gentlemen’s club that killed one man and injured another this past weekend.
Authorities announced the arrest of 38-year-old Melshaun Antwan Robinson of Charleston who has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
Robinson was locked up at the Al Cannon Detention Center. His arrest stems from an investigation at 8:24 p.m. on Sunday when officers responded to the King Street Cabaret on 1337 King Street Extension for a shooting that just happened. When officers arrived on the scene they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. “One man was pronounced deceased at the scene and the other man was transported by paramedics to a local hospital,” CPD officials said. |

He was wanted for the murder of Sandra Molen-Coakley which happened on April 10 on Parana Street. Bowens will face a bond court judge on Tuesday. Police already have 19-year-old Tyson Tyree Tucker in custody. He also face a murder charge in Molen-Coakley’s death. Deputies: 1 dead, 1 arrested in Sunday night shooting
COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Deputies say one man is in custody after a reported fight ended in a fatal shooting Sunday night.
Tevin Jerome Manigo, 28, is charged with murder, according to the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at approximately 10:45 p.m. to the 1700 block of White Hall Road to a report of a fight in progress. Deputies arrived to find a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound was being taken to the hospital in their car, investigators say. Colleton County deputies and Colleton Fire-Rescue found the car and took the man to Colleton County Medical Center where he died a short time later. Investigators say the investigation revealed Manigo to be the suspect in the shooting and deputies arrested him at a home in the area. Deputies say there is no evidence connecting this shooting to the fatal weekend shooting at the VIP Ultra Lounge Nightclub. That investigation remains open and active, they said. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – So far this year, there have been 55 overdoses in Cheatham County and EMS reports 7 people have died.
Cheatham County Narcotics officers take each death personally and work tirelessly to find the person who sold the lethal dose.
On January 4 of this year, deputies found a 32-year-old man unresponsive due to a heroin overdose. According to Cheatham County drug agents, an autopsy indicated the man died of fentanyl laced heroin. It was the first OD death of 2021. According to Lt. Heflin, over the next 3 months detectives chased clues, got search warrants for cell phones and built a case, hunting for the person who sold the drugs that lead to the death of the 32-year-old. On April 7, Cheatham County drug agents, assisted by Metro police, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, executed a search warrant at the Nashville home of Dshaun Edwards. Drug agents say the 39-year-old convicted felon is responsible for selling the lethal dose of heroin that killed the man on January 4. According to investigators, Edwards has served time previously on cocaine convictions in 2003 and 2006. Once inside Edwards’ home, agents seized three guns and found a dangerous cocktail of narcotics that included crack, heroin and fentanyl. “We will do everything we can to hold someone accountable for second degree murder; we are going to hold a drug dealer accountable,” Lt. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metro Police have arrested a man on a grand jury indictment charging him with first-degree murder in the December death of another man in an alley between Blank Street and 16th Avenue North.
According to MNPD, 27-year-old Kenneth Bradford was arrested Thursday in the death of 25-year-old Christopher Webber. He was at the Metro Courthouse scheduled to appear on unrelated charges when he was taken into custody.
Webber reportedly drove into the alley in a black Mercedes on the afternoon of December 2, 2020, and was almost immediately shot at. The car crashed into a building at 16th Avenue North and Jackson Street. Webber died shortly after arriving at the hospital. MNPD said Bradford and Webber were acquaintances. Bradford refused to cooperate with investigators and answer questions before he was booked on the murder charge. |

choking a fellow officer while they were on-duty on several different occasions in 2020.
Rashard Lovelace, 31, is charged with four counts of domestic assault. Authorities allege that twice, Lovelace punched the other officer, and on other two other occasions, put his hands around her throat in an aggressive way and said, "I want to choke the f- out of you." The incidents happened between the start of July and end of August 2020, at four different locations. Police say before the incidents took place, the two had been in a romantic relationship. |

DECATUR — Raymond D. Graham, part of a group of Decatur men who carried out a terrifying and violent series of home invasions on the same night, has been sent to prison for six years.
Graham, 26, appeared in Macon County Circuit Court Monday and pleaded guilty to a charge of home invasion, a Class X felony.
It was part of a plea deal negotiated by his defense attorney, Jacqueline Hollis-George, that saw two additional home invasion charges dismissed. Judge Jeffrey Geisler also dismissed one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, three counts of aggravated kidnapping, one count of armed violence, one count of armed robbery, one count of residential burglary and one count of possession of a stolen gun. And as part of the same plea deal regarding another two cases against Graham arising from the home invasions, the judge dismissed a batch of 22 similar charges. Graham was also given a custody credit of two years and four months for the time he’s spent in the Macon County Jail since his arrest on Dec. 4, 2018. Sworn affidavits from Decatur police describe Graham taking part with four other men in three home invasions on the night of Nov. 20, 2018. Detectives said one victim was clubbed with a gun and a grandfather clubbed to the floor. The home invaders then seized the man’s 6-year-old grandson, shoved the barrel of a gun in his mouth and threatened to kill him until the man told them where the key was to a safe that held guns and valuables. The other alleged home invaders, all being held in the jail and all pleading not guilty to similar sets of charges that Graham faced, are: Byron D. Theus Jr. 21, Rahiam A. Shabazz, 21, Dondrion L. An “appalling” Massachusetts man allegedly raped a 74-year-old woman at a senior living facility, according to reports.
Giani Morales, 27, was arraigned Wednesday in a Milford court on charges including sexual assault, home invasion and burglary in Tuesday’s attack at Surfside Apartments in West Haven, the Connecticut Post reported.
The elderly victim — who moved to the complex for seniors and disabled residents just weeks ago — told cops she went to walk her dog when Morales approached her and “began to push up on her” as she waited for an elevator, a police report shows. The elevator arrived, but a man who was afraid of dogs was inside, prompting the woman to wait for the next one, police said. Morales then allegedly exposed 'himself' while standing beside the woman, leading her to retreat to her apartment. He then barged into the residence as she opened the door, police said. The woman told detectives that Morales proceeded to rape her inside her apartment after she tried to fight him off, according to the police report. Amyn Gilani, who is running for the Place 5 Council seat in Colleyville, said he was in the parking lot of City Hall on Saturday and walked past political volunteer David Medlin and Place 5 City Council member Chuck Kelley, who were having a conversation. Dylan Shakespeare Robinson, 23, was sentenced Wednesday to prison time, two years of supervised release and was also ordered to pay $12 million in restitution, the District of Minnesota's U.S. Attorney's office said in a news release.
Robinson, of Brainerd, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit arson on Dec. 15 for helping set the Minneapolis Police Department's Third Precinct building ablaze on May 28. A large crowd of protesters had gathered at the building days after Floyd's death and on the evening of May 28 the crowd began shouting "Burn it down, burn to down," according to the press release. A New Jersey high school teacher was removed from his position after he was recorded cursing at students and calling George Floyd a "f------ criminal" during a Zoom session.
Howard Zlotkin's class at Dickinson High School in Jersey City began Wednesday with a discussion on climate change before turning into an expletive-filled rant, NBC New York reported. It was not clear Friday what prompted the shift in the conversation.

UPDATE: WHITE Delaware police officer declared clinically dead after being attacked by (black) while on duty
DELMAR, Delaware (WPVI) -- A Delaware police officer who was attacked inside a home while responding to a "fight in progress" call over the weekend has been declared clinically dead, according to Delmar Police Chief Ivan Barkley.
On Sunday around 5:12 a.m., state police say Corporal Heacook with the Delmar Police Department was responding to a home on the 11000 block of Buckingham Drive for a fight in progress allegedly involving 30-year-old Randon D. Wilkerson. A 911 caller reported that Wilkerson was being disorderly, fighting with other residents of the house, and destroying items inside the residence, according to police. According to court documents, a woman who lived in the home told police she witnessed Wilkerson standing over Heacook while slamming his foot on his head inside the living room of the home. DELMAR, Del. - A Delaware man is facing charges, including attempted murder, after police said he assaulted an officer and two elderly people during a violent rampage at a housing subdivision in Sussex County early Sunday morning.
Delaware State Police said 30-year-old Randon Wilkerson attacked Corporal Keith Heacook from the Delmar Police Department inside a home on the 11000 block of Buckingham Drive around 5 a.m.
Heacook, a 22-year veteran, suffered serious head injuries during the fracas and was knocked unconscious, police said. He was taken to TidalHeath in Salisbury, Maryland, and given a police escort to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. "Keith is fighting for his life right now and he needs your prayers along with the elderly couple who were also injured," Chief Ivan Barkley said. "Members from the Delmar Police appreciate the outpouring of community support as we continue to move forward." Police said Wilkerson also forced his way into a home across the street and beat a 73-year-old man and 76-year-old woman with a glass object. Both victims were hospitalized with significant injuries, according to police. The woman was also taken to Shock Trauma. Wilkerson was charged with attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon and related offenses. A 19-year-old North Little Rock man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty in the killing of an airman who tried to stop him from robbing a gas station.
Drequan Lamont Robinson pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree murder and aggravated robbery in the March 2019 fatal shooting of Senior Airman Shawn Arnold McKeough Jr. According to the Pulaski County Clerk's Office, Robinson must serve at least 70% of his sentence before he’d be eligible for parole. Security footage from the convenience store showed McKeough lunge at Robinson’s accomplice before Robinson turned and shot McKeough in the face. Robinson's three accomplices also pleaded guilty and were sentenced to shorter prison terms. Trial of (black bloodthirsty) maniac accused of murdering Samantha Josephson set for July
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - On March 29, 2019, University of South Carolina student Samantha Josephson was kidnapped and murdered after going to a bar with friends.
Now, more than two years later, the man accused of killing the 21-year-old college student has a trial date, according to public court records.
Nathaniel Rowland is charged with murder and kidnapping in Josephson’s death. Earlier this month, a judge set the date for his trial to begin: July 19, 2021. His bond was denied in June 2020, so he will remain in jail until then. Investigators say Josephson was out with friends in Five Points when she called an Uber. She was seen on surveillance video getting in a car. According to police reports, the 21-year-old was stabbed more than 30 times. Her body was discovered the day after she disappeared, in a wooded area in Clarendon County. Rowland was arrested that night in a car in which investigators found Josephson’s blood and her cellphone. Police have charged a 22-year-old Baltimore man with the murder of a woman who was found dead of asphyxiation in an East Baltimore motel, and said in charging documents he is a “person of interest” in a similar homicide.
On Sunday, Baltimore police charged Christopher Tyson with first- and second-degree murder in the death of Ashley Lambert, a 37-year-old woman found dead at the Deluxe Plaza Motel on March 28.
In charging documents, police wrote that officers were called to the motel, at the 6400 block of Pulaski Highway, around 11:30 a.m. for a report of an unresponsive person found in one of the motel’s rooms. Staff at the motel found Lambert unresponsive after the occupants of a room at the motel failed to check out that day, charging documents state. Using surveillance footage from nearby cameras, police say they saw footage of the last person seen with Lambert while she was alive and determined he’d made a purchase at a nearby business around that time. After obtaining the receipt of that purchase, police wrote they were able to identify the man as Tyson through an investigation into the Wells Fargo Visa Card he used. In addition, charging documents state police were able to track Tyson’s cell phone to a residence in the 2200 block of Bryant Avenue. Police obtained a search warrant for the residence, charging documents state, and after using a battering ram to enter the home when no one answered, officers found Tyson in a second-floor bedroom. Police wrote that Tyson initially gave “several versions of events that contradicted the evidence” recovered at the motel and inside his residence. However, police wrote that Tyson was shown images recovered from surveillance footage and identified himself as the person seen in the footage. He ultimately confessed the the killing, police said. 3 (Black) Virginia men arrested in shooting that killed mom and baby, injured 3 others
A woman and her 3-month-old daughter were killed and three others were wounded after two groups of people exchanged gunfire, shooting indiscriminately across an apartment courtyard filled with children, Richmond police said Wednesday.
Three suspects have been arrested and detectives are trying to determine if others were involved, police said in a news release.
Police believe one group began shooting outside the apartment complex in south Richmond on Tuesday evening and struck the victims, who were innocent bystanders, Police Chief Gerald Smith said at a news conference. Another group returned fire, Smith said, but police don’t believe they hit anyone. Three types of guns were used, he said. Sharnez Hill, 30, and her infant daughter were killed. Smith said the three other victims — ages 29, 15 and 11 — were in stable condition. Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney condemned the shooters for having "no regard for human life." "I have no idea and I’ll never understand why this sort of gunplay occurs so much in our communities," Stoney said. "And although there’s been progress made with laws at the state level, laws here locally, still firearms find their ways into our communities far too often." Police said Donald Hemmings, 22, Shyheem Martin, 23, and Shamondrick Perry, 19, had been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder, with additional charges pending.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The alleged gunman who killed a man in the middle of a busy Philadelphia mall last month has been arrested. Philadelphia Police on Wednesday night said 21-year-old Gregory Smith has been charged with murder and related offenses in the death of 20-year-old Dominic Billa-Lewis.
According to police, Smith was arrested on Wednesday. The homicide happened on March 29 just after 5 p.m. at Philadelphia Mills Mall inside the food court at the orange entrance of the Northeast Philly mall. Billa-Lewis was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Surveillance video posted to social media showed the moment the shooting happened. Police said there was a fight and at some point, Smith fired a weapon. At least five shots were fired. “Even though tragically one person was shot and killed, we’re very fortunate that there were not any additional shooting victims,” Philadelphia Police Chief Insp. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Police are calling a deadly shooting outside the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in Northeast Philadelphia a tragic case of mistaken identity. Rodney Hargrove was shot and killed on the prison property about an hour after he was released.
Sixteen-year-old Ameen Hurst has been charged with that murder. Hurst is also charged with three other murders, including one on Christmas Eve. Police say Hurst shot 20-year-old Dyewou Nyshawn Scruggs multiple times on the 1800 block of Wynnewood Road. Police say Hurst was arrested on March 20 and charged with Scruggs’ murder. Police say Hurst was also involved in a deadly quadruple shooting on the 400 block of North 76th Street that occurred on March 11. (Black) Georgia man arrested, accused of rape and luring child on social media
FLOYD County, Ga. (CBS46) -- A Rome man accused of assaulting a teen and attempting to lure another child on social media is now behind bars and faces several charges.
The months long investigation, ended in the arrest of 28-year-old Christopher Minter at his home in West Rome. The initial investigation revealed that Minter allegedly befriended a teen walking down the road in March.
Minter and the victim began communicating on social media and one day she again asked for transportation, police said. He agreed and then took the 16-year-old victim to a location where he forcibly raped the teen, Floyd County investigators reported. According to authorities, prior to knowing about the sexual assault, police investigators had already been in contact with Minter online when he popped up on social media and began engaging an officer who represented herself as a 14-year-old child. He then immediately questioned her age and allegedly pushed a sexually charged conversation. Investigators allege that Minter insisted on meeting the child to engage in sex acts at her home. The Lehigh County district attorney’s office on Wednesday released more details about the shooting spree but said the suspect’s electronic devices, including his cellphone, revealed no information about the crime or a motive.
Za Uk Lian first shot at a car on a highway several miles away before heading to the Wawa convenience store in Upper Macungie Township, outside Allentown, around 4:45 a.m. on April 21, authorities said. Lian had approached the woman’s car from behind, pulled into the right-hand lane next to her and fired a shot that hit the passenger-side door before speeding way, authorities said. At the Wawa, Lian pulled up next to a parked Jeep and shot and critically wounded the driver, then shot and killed 31-year-old Ramon Ramirez as Ramirez was pumping gas into his truck, authorities said. Lian did not interact with either victim before shooting, the DA’s office said. Lian then pointed his semi-automatic pistol at a group of people, and confronted two other drivers in the Wawa parking lot and demanded their vehicles, before fleeing on foot as police arrived. He shot and killed himself about a quarter-mile away, the DA’s office said. Lian, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Myanmar (BURMA) who settled in the U.S. in 2013, had lived in Washington state before moving to the Allentown area two years ago. He worked at a Home Depot warehouse near the Wawa. Lian legally purchased the gun he used in the shooting on Jan. 31 and received a concealed carry permit in March, according to authorities. The DA’s office said Lian last worked at the warehouse on April 9 and is believed to have tested positive for COVID-19 on April 12. |

The homeless woman who was living out of a tent on the Upper West Side was busted last month on felony charges in the murder of a teen in the South Street Seaport, The Post has learned.
Amber Wilson, 35, made headlines this week for taking up residence inside the tent at West 86th Street and Broadway with partner Devonte Rose — a set-up that was dismantled by cops Wednesday afternoon amid complaints from neighbors.
But sources told The Post that wasn’t the first time Wilson landed in the news. Just weeks prior, Wilson was charged with concealing a human corpse after 19-year-old Rosalee Sanchez’s body was found wrapped in plastic in the abandoned Fulton Fish Market on March 6, the sources said. Two other vagrants, Austin Boehm, 25, and Christian Mercado, 20, were also charged in connection with Sanchez’s murder. BLACK-ON-WHITE: NYPD officer killed in hit-and-run on Long Island Expressway
NEW YORK - An NYPD officer was killed by a hit-and-run driver early Tuesday while directing traffic on the Long Island Expressway in Queens. The suspect had allegedly recorded an anti-police podcast earlier in the evening.
The deadly crash happened around 2 a.m. at the scene of what was believed to be an earlier DUI crash that was being investigated.
Officer Anastasios Tsakos, 43, had been directing traffic off of the LIE near Francis Lewis Boulevard. NYPD was investigating a single-car crash and car fire that killed one person around 12:30 a.m. when he was hit and thrown a considerable distance. The car kept going despite having a smashed windshield. The 14-year veteran of the force was rushed to NY Presbyterian Hospital-Queens in critical condition but he died a short time later. 32-year-old Jessica Beauvais of Hempstead was arrested in the officer's death a short time later. The NYPD says she was intoxicated and driving with a suspended license. She was charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter, reckless endangerment, leaving an accident that resulted in death, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, and several other charges. As she was escorted out of the police station she apologized to Officer Taskos' family. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I hit him and that he is dead," Beauvais said as she walked out of the 107 police precinct in handcuffs and crying. She claimed he was in a studio all night recording her podcast. Video of that podcast that was posted on Facebook showed her using multiple expletives to describe law enforcement. Beauvais remained jailed Tuesday night after her arraignment. Murder of UNKNOWN aspiring rapper Lil Yase leads to arrests of 2 people in California
A man and a woman were being held without bail Wednesday for their alleged involvement in the murder of up-and-coming rapper Lil Yase in Dublin, Calif., last November.
Jovante D. Williams, 28, and Angel D. Butler, 28, were arrested Tuesday and booked on first-degree murder charges for the slaying of the 26-year-old hip-hop artist whose legal name was Mark Alexander, Jr. They remained in custody in the Santa Rita Jail with their arraignments set for Thursday afternoon, online jail records said. A second murder suspect was arrested and charged Tuesday in connection with the death of a 7-year-old Chicago girl who was shot while sitting in a car in a McDonald's drive-thru.
Demond Goudy, 21, was taken into custody around 7:15 p.m. following a SWAT standoff, police said. Investigators were following up on the murder of Jaslyn Adams when they were led to Goudy's home.
SWAT units were called to assist in the arrest, police said. Goudy was taken to a police station where he was questioned and arrested in connection with the April 18 killing. He is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder. Authorities did not say if he was the shooter. "Justice continues to be served for #JaslynAdams and her family," Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown tweeted. "A second offender has been charged with First Degree Murder in this horrific crime. The investigation continues. #JusticeForJaslynAdams" Another suspect, Marion Lewis, 18, was shot and arrested last week after trying to evade police officers on a busy freeway. Texas homeowners reportedly helped catch a 26-year-old burglary suspect during a series of at least five brazen break-ins that turned violent in a San Antonio neighborhood Monday morning, one of which was caught on camera.
A Ring door camera recorded the suspect punching in the glass on one home's front door and stepping through sometime after 8 a.m. in broad daylight, San Antonio police said, according to KENS-TV in San Antonio. A 71-year-old homeowner grabbed his gun and shot at the suspect after he allegedly smashed through a bedroom window. He didn’t hit the suspect, however, and the suspect allegedly grabbed the gun from the homeowner and shot him, police said. He was taken to the hospital for his injuries and there’s no report on his condition. One of the neighbors told KENS residents didn’t let the suspect get away. "The whole neighborhood got involved, and just kind of tracked him down" and kept him there until poilice arrived, he said. He said the alleged burglar tried to break into his home but he scared him away. "I heard two loud thumps on my back door," the man, who didn't want to be identified, said. "I yelled and then he jumped the fence, and then he started his escapades down the neighborhood." The suspect was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to KENS. Tuesday morning, detectives explained the timeline and locations where Bates allegedly assaulted at least four girls ages 9-12. Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine alleged that Bates betrayed her victims' trust. HISPANIC Long Island man indicted for stabbing police officer, severing his femoral artery during attempted stop: DA 
The man accused of stabbing and critically injuring a Long Island, New York, police officer earlier this month while allegedly high on methamphetamine has been indicted on 10 charges in connection with the attack, county officials announced Wednesday.
Jonathan Nunez, 25, was hit with four felony charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, first-degree assault, assault on a police officer, and two counts of assault, in addition to charges of resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an incident resulting in physical injury, reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by a drug, Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini announced. Authorities said Nunez was driving a 1999 Mercedez-Benz in Patchogue, on Long Island, around 10:30 p.m. on April 10 when Suffolk County Police Officer Christopher Racioppo allegedly spotted him "driving erratically" and with no headlights on. As Racioppo turned on his emergency lights and tried to conduct a traffic stop, Nunez "allegedly fled at a high rate of speed and crashed into a 2004 Nissan at the intersection of South Ocean Avenue and Brook Street," a DA’s office press release states. He then allegedly ran from the scene to a nearby home and began fighting with Racioppo. That’s when, authorities said, he stabbed the officer in the leg and severed a vein and his femoral artery. |

Asian man left with nine stitches after Hispanic suspect slugs him in hate crime: cops
An Asian man received nine stitches after he was allegedly slugged in the face by a panhandler who called him a “stupid chino,” The Post has learned.
The latest anti-Asian attack unfolded just after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday while the 57-year-old victim was waiting for a bus on Fourth Avenue near Union Square, cops said.
The alleged attacker, identified as Saul Babilonia, 58, walked up to the Asian man and asked him for money, cops said. When the Asian man tried to walk away, Babilonia allegedly called him a “stupid chino” and punched him in the face, according to police. 
The victim was treated at Bellevue Hospital and received nine stitches on his forehead, police sources said.
Babilonia was arrested moments after the attack and charged with felony assault and aggravated harassment as a hate crime, court records show. POMONA, Calif. -- A convicted child rapist who killed two 6-year-old boys in Southern California in the 1980s was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Kenneth Rasmuson, 59, showed no emotion as he was sentenced in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Pomona.
Rasmuson abducted and killed 6-year-old Jeffrey Vargo, who disappeared on July 2, 1981, after he left his house in Anaheim Hills in Orange County to look at a fireworks stand. His body was found the next day at a construction site in Pomona, in eastern Los Angeles County. “I had hoped to be at your execution because I wanted to look in your eyes and see the same terror that my son saw at his last moment,” the boy’s father, Bob Vargo, told Rasmuson at the sentencing hearing. “Because of your evil acts, the last time we saw our son was to view his scarred and lifeless body lying in a casket with his favorite toys,” Rasmuson also kidnapped, stabbed and strangled 6-year-old Miguel Antero, who vanished on April 8, 1986, after stepping off of a school bus near his Agoura Hills home. His body was found that day in a wash near his home in the northwestern county. His father, Gil Antero, said in court that Miguel was “”caring and full of joy" and said his killing “has shattered our lives to pieces." Decades after the boys were killed, DNA evidence linked Rasmuson to the slayings, prosecutors said. In 2015, he was arrested at his parents’ home in Sandpoint, Idaho, where he had been living as a registered sex offender. Rasmuson pleaded guilty in February to two counts of murder with the special circumstance that he committed multiple killings. Cops dismantle vagrant squatter’s tent in middle of Upper West Side

Farmer and his dog both died in the accident as a result of the injuries suffered in the collision. SILVER SPRING, Md. - Authorities have arrested and charged a 48-year-old man in connection with a brutal home invasion robbery that happened more than 18 years ago in Montgomery County.
Police say Stacy Howard Moore of Hyattsville was identified as a suspect from DNA evidence that had been collected at the crime scene.
Investigators say on January 22, 2003 the then 30-year-old Moore and two other suspects identified themselves as police officers and forced their way into a family's apartment in the 9100 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring. Officers say two of the suspects were armed with handguns. Moore and the other men threatened the family, which included a 31-year-old man, his 28-year-old wife, their seven-year-old son and their five-year-old daughter, authorities say. The men bound the family with duct tape, stabbed the husband while threatening to cut out his eyes and then poured bleach on him, investigators say. The savage attack continued when the suspects heated a knife on the stove and pressed it against the husband's neck, police added. Officers say the men also threatened to shoot the two children. The attack continued for two and a half hours, police say, ending after the brother of the husband entered the apartment and was also assaulted, bound in duct tape and had bleach poured on him. Ronald Dean Gardner, 63, of San Jose, had been charged with two counts of oral copulation with a minor and two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor involving two victims who between 2000 and 2003 were Gardner’s students either in his science class or on one of the athletic teams Gardner coached at Sierramont Middle School. DELMAR, Del. - A Delaware man is facing charges, including attempted murder, after police said he assaulted an officer and two elderly people during a violent rampage at a housing subdivision in Sussex County early Sunday morning.
Delaware State Police said 30-year-old Randon Wilkerson attacked Corporal Keith Heacook from the Delmar Police Department inside a home on the 11000 block of Buckingham Drive around 5 a.m.
Heacook, a 22-year veteran, suffered serious head injuries during the fracas and was knocked unconscious, police said. He was taken to TidalHeath in Salisbury, Maryland, and given a police escort to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. "Keith is fighting for his life right now and he needs your prayers along with the elderly couple who were also injured," Chief Ivan Barkley said. "Members from the Delmar Police appreciate the outpouring of community support as we continue to move forward." Police said Wilkerson also forced his way into a home across the street and beat a 73-year-old man and 76-year-old woman with a glass object. Both victims were hospitalized with significant injuries, according to police. The woman was also taken to Shock Trauma. Wilkerson was charged with attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon and related offenses. LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — A Garland County man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after he admitted he drove his girlfriend up a mountain, fatally stabbed her and stole her car.
Deadrick Garner pleaded guilty to Capital Murder and Aggravated Robbery for the murder of Victoria “Tori” Lowry in Hot Spring County, according to a Monday release from Teresa Howell, Prosecuting Attorney for the Seventh Judicial District of Arkansas. During his "emotionless" plea to the court, he admitted that around May 28 of 2020 he drove Lowry to the top of a mountain on Tower Road in Bismarck, stabbed her in the chest "and then watched her die on the mountain," according to the release. Evidence suggests that Garner wanted to end his relationship with Lowry. After lowry died, Garner reportedly dragged her body to the edge of a clearing and left her. He then drove her car to a friend's house in Missouri where he attempted to hide his clothing. He was arrested in June of 2020 by Jonesboro Police Department while he was driving her car. Lowry's family addressed Garner in court after his plea. Bob Lowry, Tori’s dad, reportedly told Garner his daughter's blood on the mountain cried out for justice. Bob said he visits Lowry's grave almost every day. Her mom said that her murder was "wicked, evil and vile." Lowry's brother said he has nightmares of hearing his mother's screams when she learned her daughter had been killed. But, he said, Lowry will be remembered for generations, while Garner will soon become a number. A man struck an NYPD detective over the head with a plastic stick on Monday — in a broad-daylight attack that took place as the officer was investigating another crime, according to police.
The uniformed cop was processing the scene of a robbery in Queens at around 11:50 a.m., when he was assaulted, the NYPD said.
Footage shared by the Detectives’ Endowment Association showed the cop standing outside the crime scene and taking notes near some broken glass — when a man holding two long white sticks crept up behind him. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - An October murder stemming from an ongoing argument has led to the indictment of a 33-year-old Memphis man.
According to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, Brandon Richardson has been indicted on one count of second-degree murder after he shot and a
21-year-old man on October 24, 2020.
Investigators say Richardson’s brother and the victim were involved in an ongoing dispute the day before the shooting. The argument then turned into an altercation when the victim reportedly drove to Richardson’s home in Raleigh looking for his brother. The next morning the victim was outside of his home when Richardson walked up with an assault-style rifle and a handgun and fired several shots, according to investigators. The suspect had fled the scene upon their arrival. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital,” Jonesboro police said. “Through the investigation, leads were followed, and interviews were conducted and continue to be done. GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Authorities have identified both a suspect and the victim in the shooting death Sunday of a 22-year-old man in front of a Peachtree Corners convenience store.
Gwinnett County police are seeking Aaron Woods, 22, of Peachtree Corners, who was still at large as of Monday afternoon. Woods is charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in connection with the shooting death of Kendall Reid, 22, also of Peachtree Corners.
Gwinnett police found Reid lying between two cars midday Sunday in the parking lot of the A-1 Market on Peachtree Corners Circle. According to a spokesperson for the Gwinnett police, Reid died at the scene. He was a frequent customer at the store. Detectives said they believe Woods and Reid knew each other and that an argument between the two led to the shooting. Reid's shooting death is one of two that took place Sunday in Gwinnett County. Another man was shot dead Sunday night in unincorporated Dacula. Vernell Cheneau Jr., 37, was charged with murder in connection with that death and is now in the Gwinnett County Jail. DACULA, GA — A Dacula man was charged with murder in connection with the shooting death Sunday of a man following a domestic dispute.
Vernell Cheneau Jr., 37, is in the Gwinnett County Jail Monday, charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
According to a statement from Gwinnett County Police, Cheanau was caught after he fled the scene of a shooting on Overlook Hill Pass in unincorporated Dacula. When police arrived at the scene, they found a man with at least one gunshot wound inside the garage of the home. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family. Investigators said they believe a dispute between the victim and the suspect led to the shooting. Other family members were inside the home at the time of the shooting. Cheneau's arrest capped the second deadly shooting in one day in Gwinnett County. Earlier on Sunday, a 22-year-old man was found shot dead in the parking lot of a Peachtree Corners convenience store. Aaron Woods, 22, was charged with murder and is being sought by Gwinnett police in connection with that shooting. |

90-Year-Old (Black) Man, Clent Morris, Arrested In Shooting Death Of Neighbor In Trenton
TRENTON, N.J. (CBS/AP) – A 90-year-old man has been arrested in the shooting death of his neighbor on a side street across from police headquarters in Trenton, authorities said. Trenton police said three detectives “were close enough to hear the gunfire” shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday and immediately responded to the scene.
They found a woman with gunshot wounds and entered the home to find 90-year-old Clent Morris with a wound to his eye, police said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Her name wasn’t immediately released. Morris was arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said a handgun was recovered. Trenton police said it appeared the suspect and victim “knew each other and have had disputes with each other in the past.” Detectives with the Mercer County homicide task force are to bring charges after their investigation has been completed. A city correction officer has been charged in connection to the suicide of an inmate who died in a lower Manhattan cell last year — after she ordered her subordinates not to help him, authorities said.
Capt. Rebecca Hillman turned herself in to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office Monday before pleading not guilty to one count each of criminally negligent homicide and offering a false instrument for filing. The charges are not bail-eligible, and she was released.
The inmate, 29-year-old Ryan Wilson, was locked up at the Manhattan Detention Complex, also known as The Tombs, on a parole violation and robbery charges when he allegedly threatened to hang himself Nov. 22. Wilson fashioned a noose out of bedsheets and attached it to a light fixture in his cell then called over a correction officer. He allegedly climbed onto a stool, placed the makeshift noose around his neck and told the officer he’d kill himself if Hillman didn’t let him out, authorities said. The officer reported the alarming statement to Hillman, who took no action, court papers allege. Wilson climbed onto his bed and began a countdown before jumping off. The officer called for the cell to be opened immediately so he could cut him down. A few minutes later, Hillman emerged and told the other inmates that Wilson was just “playing.” When the door finally opened, Hillman barred the officer from entering the cell and claimed that Wilson was faking the incident because he was still breathing. “At this point, Hillman called for non-emergency backup and ordered the door closed while Mr. Wilson remained hanging inside of the locked cell,” according to the press release from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. Black Crime: Two suspects arrested, one wanted in-connection with drive-by shooting in Gulfport
GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Two suspects have been arrested, and a third is wanted by authorities in-connection with a drive-by shooting that wounded three victims Saturday morning in Gulfport.
Authorities arrested 22-year-old Champagne Azizi Burnett and 27-year-old Shaniqua Tashae Willis and charged them with three counts of drive-by shooting. Both of their bonds were set at $75,000. On Saturday morning, authorities responded around 11:44 a.m. to the area of Thornton Avenue and 19th Street in reference to a shooting. During the investigation, it was discovered that Willis was driving a vehicle occupied by Burnett and 16-year-old Jermaine Rashod Mayers. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered another man suffering from a gunshot wound, but he was taken to a nearby hospital. However, all of the victims are in stable condition at this time. Mayers is currently wanted and has an active warrant for drive-by shooting. Mayers bond was set at $750,000. CHICAGO - Bail was denied Sunday for a 23-year-old man who has been charged for attacking an on-duty Chicago police detective in South Shore.
Kenyon Washington is facing a first-degree murder charge as well as an armed robbery charge.
On Feb. 8. 2021, the detective, a 26-year veteran of the department, was investigating the scene of a fatal shooting in the 7700 block of South Yates Boulevard when two people approached him from behind. Police said one person had a gun and the other person had a knife. The on-duty detective, who was in civilian clothing but carrying a binder embossed with the Chicago Police Department star, fell to the ground after he was hit in the back of his head, prosecutors said. That’s when Washington’s accomplice allegedly pointed a semi-automatic handgun with an extended clip at the detective’s head and demanded his belongings. Washington and the other man began to kick the detective in his head and body as the officer yelled that he didn’t have anything on him, prosecutors said. As the attack continued, the detective said he was an officer multiple times and "that they did not have to do this," according to a copy of the bond proffer. The detective also said he didn’t have his wallet. Washington "made a stabbing motion" toward the detective’s neck, prosecutors said. The detective’s partner heard screams and saw the two men on top of his colleague as he exited a nearby building. The pair of offenders fled the scene on foot as the other detective came to his partner’s aid, prosecutors said. The detective suffered injuries to his head and neck. FRANKLIN PARISH, La. (KTVE/KARD) — Louisiana State Police say they have arrested Winnsboro Police Lieutenant, Terrance Pleasant.
According to Louisiana State Police, they were asked to join an investigation that started in March of 2021 on a complaint involving a a police lieutenant in Winnsboro, Louisiana.
Police say Pleasant, 47, was indicted by a grand jury on Monday, April 19, 2021 for one count of Public Bribery and one count of Abuse of Office. Investigators say a complaint received by a driver involved in a two vehicle crash that Pleasant was investigating. The driver, who was not at fault, says Pleasant solicited sexual favors and money to provide a favorable report for their insurance, according to police. BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office say a fatal shooting near Siegen Lane Saturday night was an act of self-defense.
According to EBRSO, Aaron Hudson, was shot and killed by Kenneth Jobbers April 24.
The shooting happened at Motel 6 on Rieger Road around 7:45 p.m. Allegedly, Hudson began questioning Jobbers about dealing drugs in his area. Deputies say Hudson then entered Jobbers’ motel room and pulled out a gun. Jobbers allegedly retrieved his own gun and shot Hudson. Black CRIME: Caught on camera: Fist fights break out at Miami International Airport, Gate D14 
MIAMI, Fla. – Fist fights broke out Sunday afternoon in the American Airlines terminal of the Miami International Airport.
Video shot by a person inside the terminal shows the melee near gate D14 involving two different groups of people.
A witness told Local 10 News that the scuffle started over seats available on the plane and that seven people were involved. In the video, other passengers and people in the terminal area can be heard calling for security and also pleading for the fighting to stop. The witness said that airport police showed up and stayed for over an hour. Miami-Dade police told Local 10 News that they responded to the scene, but the victims did not want to press charges. According to MDPD, one person was arrested for disorderly conduct. He was later identified by police as 20-year-old Jameel Tremain Decquir. Three other suspects wanted by police remain at large. According to Decquir’s arrest report, he and the three other people were waiting to board an American Airlines flight to Chicago, but were told by a gate agent that there were only three standby seats available. NYC sees bloodiest week this year with 46 separate shooting incidents
New York City endured its bloodiest week so far this year, as gun violence continues to soar ahead of what could be another violent summer.
NYPD data shows 50 people were shot in 46 separate incidents over a seven-day period ending Sunday evening — a more than 250 percent surge from the same week in 2020.
Last year, the NYPD says it logged 12 shootings with 14 victims during the same time — more than a month into the city’s COVID-19 lockdown, according to the weekly Compstat data. But the same week in 2019 saw nearly identical figures. This weekend alone recorded nearly two dozen shootings to cap off the violent week, according to police. The nearly year-long trend in gunplay began last spring as New Yorkers grappled with the first wave of COVID-19. Mayor Bill de Blasio has repeatedly chalked up the troubling surge to a “perfect storm” of variables caused by the pandemic — including a court slowdown — despite evidence to the contrary. Spokesman: Israel to deport dozens of African Hebrews
JERUSALEM -- Dozens of members of a polygamous, vegan sect in Israel have received deportation orders from the government, the group's spokesman said Monday, despite much of the community having received permanent residency under arrangements with Israel. The community, which numbers around 3,000 people, is comprised of Black Americans whose founders moved to Israel in the 1960s and believe they are descendants of an ancient Israelite tribe. Most live in the southern desert town of Dimona. Prince Immanuel Ben-Yehuda, spokesman for the African Hebrew Israelites of Jerusalem, said the Interior Ministry had given notice to at least 46 families that they must leave the country within 60 days, calling it a “shock to the system.” The African Hebrew Israelites began arriving in Israel in 1969, following Ben Carter, a Chicago steelworker who renamed himself Ben Ammi Ben Israel and claimed to be God’s representative on earth. But Israel wasn’t sure what to make of the newcomers, who arrived on tourist visas, adopted Hebrew names and a West African style of dress. The government was unsure whether they qualified for citizenship under the country’s “Law of Return,” which is granted to almost any Jew who requests it. Ohio Republicans push 4 bills aimed at (blm-antifa-terrorist) protest behavior CLEVELAND (AP) - Republicans at the Ohio Statehouse are backing four bills aimed at criminalizing or increasing penalties associated with behavior at protests in the wake of mass demonstrations that swept across Ohio last year in response to the death of George Floyd. Separate bills working their way through the Ohio House and Senate, both controlled by Republicans, seek harsher penalties for anyone who provides “material support and resources” to those who engage in rioting and potentially subject them to prosecution under Ohio’s racketeering laws. The bills copy language directly from state anti-terrorism laws in defining what they mean by providing material support. Ohio law defines aggravated riot as five or more people who gather to commit a felony or an act of violence. Riot is a lesser offense when five or more people gather to commit a misdemeanor such as intimidating a public official or employee. Another bill in the House would outlaw taunting or throwing objects at police officers and criminalize failing to follow police orders. A fourth bill, introduced in the Senate, would allow businesses and government agencies to seek reimbursement for damages protesters cause. Schaffer, who is the primary sponsor of both Senate bills, said he introduced the measures after being “infuriated and frustrated with the lawlessness of the riots last year and resulting public outrage across the state.” Around 100 people were arrested in downtown Columbus last spring during a protest, mostly for failure to disperse. Tip from ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ TV show closes 2010 Louisiana cold case
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A LaPlace man is behind bars after a tip from a television show helped detectives close a decade-old double homicide cold case.
According to the Kenner Police Department, Dernell Nelson, 35, was arrested on April 22, 2021 on two counts of first-degree murder for the 2010 murders of Hermania Ellsworth and Charles Davis.
In June of 2010, police say Ellsworth and Davis were found shot multiple times before crashing a vehicle into a tree in the 700 block of Farrar Street in Kenner, Louisiana. The couple was pronounced dead on scene. The couple’s three-year-old son was found in the backseat, injured from the impact of the crash. Kenner Police re-opened the investigation in March of 2021 after receiving a tip from the television documentary series “Unsolved Mysteries.” Detectives were able to connect Nelson to the homicide by DNA and additional circumstantial evidence. Officials believe Nelson may also be responsible for a July 2010 double homicide where Herbert Glass and Lynette Williams, who lived in the same block of Farrar Street, were found shot to death and bound by duct tape, floating in Lake Ponchartrain. Officials believe both homicide cases are related and Kenner detectives have been in contact with St. Tammany Parish investigators. |
Black footballer accused of murdering two highschool footballer friends
Details of a weekend shooting that left two men dead and the arrest of another have come to light with the release of the affidavit filed with the arrest of the suspect.
Zamar Kirven is being held in the McLennan County Jail on capital murder charges in the deaths of Jacob Ybarra and Sabion Kubitza.
The victims were found in a home in the 1100 block of East Texas Avenue In Mart early Sunday morning. The victims and the suspect were all former high school football players and knew each other. The affidavit states the deputy who responded to the shooting took a statement from a man who was the renter of the house where the shooting occurred. That man told officers he actually took the gun away from Kirven who had come into his room and that Kirven then ran off. Another witness was quoted in the affidavit as saying he had been with Kirven and the two victims earlier and had gone to the store, saying that as he was returning to the house he heard three gunshots. The affidavit says as he entered the house, he encountered Kirven who threatened to shoot him and that they struggled until the witness was able to get out of the house. The affidavit states that it was determined that Kirven then went to his father’s house and further states that he told his father that he, ” felt he was in a nightmare” and he, “thought he may have just killed somebody”. Investigators say when they found Kirven at the home in the 200 block of Carpenter he was not wearing shoes and that footprints found tracked throughout the house where the shooting occurred appeared to have been made by someone wearing socks but not shoes. (Black) Man (named 'White) charged with murder in Walnut Park East shooting
ST. LOUIS — A north St. Louis County man was charged Sunday with first-degree murder in a shooting early Saturday in Walnut Park East, St. Louis Police reported.
Javon White, 31, also faces charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action. He is being held without bond.
The shooting occurred just before 2 a.m. Saturday at Wren Avenue and Bircher Boulevard. Chuwn Curtis, 24, of Jennings, was found in a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Two women, ages 27 and 44, were found outside the car and were taken to a hospital for treatment. |
(Black) Man charged in now-deadly Chesterfield shooting
CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - Police say a man died at the hospital after he was shot Thursday afternoon in Chesterfield County.
Officers got a report of a shooting along the 3500 block of Silver Oak Court around 4:30 p.m.
When they arrived, they found 33-year-old Roland Wright with a gunshot wound, and he was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died from his injuries. Detectives have since arrested and charged 29-year-old Andre Hawthorne with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Additional charges are pending. Hawthorne is being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond. |

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office says they have made two more arrests in connection to a fatal October 2020 shooting that resulted in a 14-year-old’s death.
One of the arrests, a 17-year-old male Santee teenager, is the second teenager to be charged with murder in the case, according to Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell.
“I said after the last arrest, this isn’t over,” Ravenell said. “We’re going to keep following each lead until we have everyone in custody who took part or knew about it.” Deputies say they also arrested 21-year-old Jamarius Singleton from Santee and charged him with accessory after the fact to felony murder. Earlier this month, deputies made two other arrests in the case. The first, a 17-year-old male teenager who, OCSO investigators say, was identified by multiple witnesses as the shooter and 23-year-old Angel Goodwin who was charged with conspiracy after investigators say they developed evidence that indicated Goodwin had plotted to kill one of the 17-year-old males who took part in the shooting. |

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – An arrest report revealed new details in the death of a Nashville man whose body was found in a ditch in Southern Kentucky.
Metro police arrested Jatecia Lake for the death of

According to a report, Washington was driving a silver Jeep Commander Sunday morning with Lake sitting as a passenger in the backseat. Detectives learned they were both acquaintances. There was also another man in the front passenger seat. Police said the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of Corner Music off Dickerson Pike and that’s when Lake is accused of shooting Washington. Police said the front seat passenger got out and ran behind a building and when he came back he saw the vehicle driving away. Police said this was recorded by surveillance cameras. Washington’s father reported him missing Monday morning, and a few hours later, police said the Jeep was found abandoned on the shoulder of Interstate 65 south in the Madison area. The report stated it had a bullet hole and a significant amount of blood. |

SUMTER, S.C. (WIS) - Two Sumter County men are charged with murder and two others with accessory in connection to a fatal shooting Friday on Broad Street, officials say.
According to officials with the Sumter Police Department, Alki Williams, 27, of Mayesville was driving just after 5 p.m. on Broad Street, when a white vehicle drove up beside him between Milton and Morgan avenues and opened fire at Williams.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene where his car stopped in a business parking lot at 286 Broad St. Christopher Fordham, 23, of Sumter, and his girlfriend, Alexus Hawkins, 20, also of Sumter and the owner of the white car involved in the shooting, were initially charged Friday with possession with intent to distribute marijuana after a quantity of drugs and money were found in a residence. As officers continued to gather information in the case, they were able to determine Hawkins did not take part in and had no knowledge of the shooting. However, Fordham and Travion Blackwell, 21, of Manning, were found to be the driver and passenger inside the white car as the shots were fired. Both were charged with murder on Tuesday. Officers say Fordham and Blackwell received help from associates after the shooting. Officials say Christopher Malek Mickens, 24, of Sumter, provided the suspects with another vehicle and was charged Monday with accessory after the fact. SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (FOX19) - The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a 4-year-old Springfield Township girl as an apparent homicide.
Nahla Miller died Wednesday at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, a coroner’s report shows.
According to the prosecutor, Miller was removed from life support Wednesday and passed away. Her father says the 4-year-old was a sweetheart who loved to play outside. Court documents say Tianna Robinson, the girl’s mother, was arrested on April 13 for allegedly punching and strangling the 4-year-old. “This complaint is based on investigation and admission from Tianna Robinson that she punched the 4-year-old victim multiple times before strangling her until she stopped breathing,” the document states. Robinson is charged with attempted murder, endangering children and felonious assault. Court documents show Robinson’s boyfriend, Rensley Washington, was charged with endangering children and obstructing justice in connection with the girl’s death. They indicate he lied to investigators about the 4-year-old’s injuries claiming she fell off a scooter and was injured. Robinson is in jail on a $1 million bond and Washington’s bond is set at $90,000. |
(Black) Georgia woman accused of driving into fast-food workers after drive-thru argument
A Georgia woman was arrested Thursday after hitting
three juvenile fast-food workers with her car during an argument, authorities said.
Police responded around 10:30 p.m. to a fast-food restaurant in Jonesboro, about 20 miles south of Atlanta, the Clayton County Police Department said.
Officers learned that an argument had broken out between the workers and 36-year-old Chelyria M. Palmer, who had been in the drive-thru line. Security camera footage show the young workers leave the restaurant and continue arguing with Palmer, who was inside her car, police said. As the workers walk away from the vehicle, Palmer drove onto the curb of the business and hit them. One juvenile was injured and taken to a hospital, according to police. Palmer was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. |
(Black) Crime: Jury hears from 4 dead people in high-stakes poker game shooting in Syracuse
Syracuse, NY -- It’s not often that a criminal jury gets to hear sworn testimony from dead people.
But the Onondaga County jury in the case of Charquan Edwards heard from four dead witnesses and another who is hospitalized this week during an attempted murder trial.
Edwards, 29, was granted a new trial after procedural errors led his 2015 attempted murder conviction to be thrown out by an appellate court. In the six years since, the victim of the attempted murder, George Smith, has died of unrelated health issues and three others have also died. A fifth witness is currently hospitalized. But Edwards retrial went on anyway this week. He’s accused of shooting Smith multiple times after stealing $9,000 in cash wagered during a poker game April 7, 2015 at 525 Tallman St. on the city’s Southwest Side. Somehow, the 83-year-old victim survived the shooting. But he’s since died from health reasons unrelated to the shooting. Edwards has long argued that he and Smith were involved in a struggle over a gun belonging to the victim. At some point, Edwards gained control and shot Smith in self-defense, his lawyer Patrick Hennessy, told the jury Friday. Prosecutor Lauren Phelps pointed to forensic evidence showing where the victim was shot and video of Edwards fleeing afterward as proof that Edwards had planned a robbery. Edwards grabbed the $9,000 off the table -- after losing thousands that night -- and shot Smith before fleeing, Phelps contended. A previous jury convicted Edwards in 2015 after hearing from the victim and the others who are no longer around. |
(Black) Decatur man who threatened cop with BB gun gets conditional discharge 
DECATUR — James T. Johnson, the Decatur porch monkey who pointed a BB rifle at an approaching police officer and announced “I’m gonna shoot you!” was sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge in Macon County Circuit Court.
Johnson, 65, appeared in court Thursday and was also sentenced to 180 days in jail but given credit for time served as well as a “good behavior credit.” Macon County Jail records now list him as free and not held in custody. He had pleaded guilty to a charge of the aggravated assault of a peace officer.
A sworn affidavit from Decatur Police said patrol officers had been called to Johnson’s home in the 1700 block of East Whitmer Street at 10:45 p.m. June 19, 2020. A neighbor had complained that he had been repeatedly shooting at her house with his BB gun. Officer Stephen Kennedy said he arrived to find Johnson sitting drunk on his front porch. “I approached the driveway as James stood up and grabbed what appeared to be a rifle,” said Kennedy in the affidavit. “James pointed it in my direction and yelled ‘I’m gonna shoot you!’ I took cover behind a vehicle in James’s driveway and announced myself as the POLICE and to ‘put the gun down.’ James lowered the gun and I advised him to put it on the ground. James again started to raise the gun. I yelled ‘POLICE, put the gun down.’ “James finally did so and sat down on a lawn chair on the porch. James kept his hands where I could see them, as I asked, and I immediately ran on the porch and secured James.” Kennedy said Johnson was so inebriated he “could barely speak or stand” as he was carted off to jail. |

A MARYLAND Pastor is facing up to 20 years in prison after he allegedly used "$3.5million in Covid PPP loans to buy Tesla."
The FBI alleged Rudolph Brooks Jr used the funds to buy a total of 39 used cars – including a Tesla, a Bentley, and more – and seized $2.2million from his accounts.
Brooks filed Economic Injury Disaster Loan documentation on April 7, 2020, according to a press release from the Department of Justice – and a month later, applied for the PPP loans. According to the DOJ, Brooks filed for PPP loans for his Cars Direct Business on May 9, 2020. His Cars Direct businesses was "forfeited" in 2012 and revived on May 28, 2020, an affidavit said. He allegedly filed two other loans for $1.8million and $200,000 for other companies – Kingdom Tabernacle and Madaro Celtic Bank, The Daily Beast reported. According to the Kingdom Tabernacle of Restoration website, Rudolph Brooks is the lead pastor at the Washington DC ministry. |

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A former South Carolina sheriff has been convicted in federal court of abusing his power and stealing money from government programs.
Ex- Chester County Sheriff Alex Underwood is the 13th sheriff in South Carolina to be convicted of criminal charges since 2010.
The 57-year-old Underwood could face years in prison when he is sentenced in a few months. A jury on Friday found him guilty of conspiracy, wire fraud, deprivation of rights and federal program theft. The felony convictions also ends Underwood’s 35 years in law enforcement, which included a long career as a State Law Enforcement Division agent before being elected sheriff in Chester County in 2012. HISPANIC CRIME: Bexar County grand jury indicts teen accused of fatally shooting man outside home in gated community 
SAN ANTONIO – A grand jury in Bexar County has handed down an indictment for a teenager accused of fatally shooting a man outside his Northwest Side home in late December.
Jesus Monsivais Jr., 18, has been formally charged with murder, the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office said Friday.
The office said he “intentionally and knowingly” caused the death of Oscar Rene Castillo, who was found lying at the end of the driveway of a home on Brentcove Street in the Finesilver Ranch subdivision on Dec. 29. He had a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said that before the shooting, Castillo had walked outside to talk on his phone when he noticed a suspicious truck driving in front of his house. Two witnesses told authorities that Castillo and the driver of the truck had an argument, and Castillo told them to leave “because they did not belong there,” according to an arrest affidavit. The driver and another person in the truck, later identified as Monsivais, got out of the vehicle to confront the man, investigators said. As the driver turned his back to Castillo to get back into the truck, police said, Monsivais allegedly fired twice at Castillo, striking him once. The group fled in the vehicle, which was captured by surveillance footage, police said. Investigators said the truck could be seen entering the subdivision minutes before the shooting and leaving shortly after. A male driver and a female passenger were seen in the front seats, police said. Investigators found the truck on Dec. 30. The affidavit states two witnesses were able to identify Monsivais, who was arrested a week after the shooting. |

HISPANIC Man arrested on murder charge after woman fatally stabbed in Bexar County 
SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County sheriff’s deputies identified the man arrested Sunday in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman.
Michael Gonzales, 27, was taken into custody shortly after witnesses saw a woman jump out of a moving vehicle in the 3800 block of Krie Trail on Sunday afternoon.
The woman was suffering multiple stab wounds and died at the scene, officials said. She hasn’t been identified Witnesses gave deputies the description of the car, which deputies found crashed and abandoned near the intersection of Salty Marsh and Kennebec Way. Deputies set up a perimeter and eventually found Gonzales hiding at a house in the 9600 block of Acadian Drive. Gonzales is charged with first degree murder, according to the sheriff’s office. |

Christopher “Fat Boy” Tyce, 28, will spend the rest of his life behind bars without the possibility for parole after being sentenced by Forrest County Circuit Court Judge Robert Helfrich.
Tyce pleaded guilty to his role in the murder of 59-year-old Lisa Nguyen on April 8. Nguyen’s husband and one of their daughters made emotional statements to Tyce and the court before Helfrich delivered his sentence. They shared what a wonderful wife and mother Nguyen had been. Nguyen escaped Vietnam in 1975 and was picked up by the U.S. Navy out in the Pacific Ocean and resettled in California. Her family later moved to Louisiana, and after meeting her husband, she moved to Hattiesburg in 2015. Tyce offered statements of regret and was then remanded back into custody where he will serve his sentence in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Nguyen was the owner of Steelman Grocery in Hattiesburg. She was shot during an armed robbery inside the store on July 20, 2019. NATCHEZ — Adams County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a teen who investigators believe is linked to the May 1, 2020, shooting and killing of 16-year-old Cameron Jones and his 18-year-old girlfriend, Jamesia Brown.
Somaj Jackson, 18, was arrested Wednesday morning for two counts of first-degree murder, Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten announced during a Wednesday morning press conference outside of Natchez City Hall.
The purpose of the press conference, which included chiefs of police and sheriffs in Adams Claiborne, Jefferson and Wilkinson counties, was to promote the Crime Stoppers program which allows citizens to give anonymous tips to law enforcement and help them solve crimes. Patten said the young couple was shot to death while sitting in a parked car outside the Kenny Graves Apartment Complex on May 1, 2020. Just after the incident, Patten said investigators believe more than one person approached the vehicle and fired shots. CANTON, Miss. (WLBT) - A Canton man accused of killing a Domino’s delivery driver and dumping her body at an intersection in Madison County now faces life in prison.
The sentence was handed down Wednesday afternoon to Terrence Caldwell on capital murder. He also received 20 years for attempted murder, and an armed robbery charge was dropped.
Caldwell is accused of murdering Domino’s employee Hilerica “Latrice” Dortch and attempting to murder JASCO store clerk, Ranjit Singh. Terrance J. Caldwell, 25, allegedly killed Dortch with a single gunshot. Her car was found abandoned shortly after she was reported missing. Her body was found days later. Caldwell pled guilty to the murder last week. Caldwell also allegedly shot gas station clerk Ranjit Singh in the face on an early December morning in 2019. After shooting Singh, Caldwell then allegedly went behind the counter, grabbed an unknown amount of cash and ran from the scene. “You took my only child away from me,” said Christine Turnell. The mother of Latrice Dortch gave a heartwrenching impact statement, speaking to the man sentenced to life in her death. “Four and five days laying out in that weather,” said Turnell. “I didn’t know where she was, but you knew all the time where my daughter was. A second person has been indicted on a murder charge in the death of the Dallas rapper known as MO3, according to Dallas County court records.
Devin Maurice Brown, 28, was indicted on Thursday on a charge of murder in connection with Melvin Noble's death on Nov. 11, 2020.
Noble, 28, was gunned down on Interstate 35E, near Marsalis Avenue, as he ran on foot down the highway from the shooter, Dallas police said. Brown is the second person to be indicted in Noble's death. Kewon Dontrell White, 22, was indicted on a murder charge in February, according to court records. White was also indicted Thursday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting in November. A bystander who was sitting in his vehicle was also shot when the gunman opened fire. The bystander was hospitalized with injuries not thought to be life-threatening, police said. Both Brown and White have also been indicted on federal charges. |

Chicago police charge (black) man with murder for killing 7-year-old black girl at McDonald's
Jaslyn Adams, a 7-year-old girl, was shot and killed while in line with her father at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Chicago on April 18, but her family is one step closer to justice after an 18-year-old allegedly involved in the shooting was charged with first-degree murder and more than a dozen other counts on Saturday.
Police said they tried to stop Marion Lewis on Thursday, but he crashed his car trying to run away from them on the Eisenhower Expressway. Lewis then allegedly attempted to carjack a family's vehicle, at which point police shot him and arrested him. Lewis was charged with first-degree murder, three counts of attempted murder, robbery, aggravated vehicular hijacking, aggravated assault of a police officer, and other counts. Chicago police are currently trying to identify and arrest multiple other suspects in the murder of Jaslyn Adams. You can run, but you can't hide," Chicago police superintendent David Brown said at a news conference Saturday. "We are going to bring you to justice for this crime. Video from a police body camera shows the moment an NYPD lieutenant was dragged across a Brooklyn street early Friday — allegedly by a reputed gang member who’d been set free in an attempted-murder case.

A federal grand jury has indicted two Bay Area men with the August 2018 murder of one person and attempted murder of five others in San Francisco in a gang-related crime, authorities said this week.
The indictment, which was filed on April 15 and unsealed on Wednesday, alleges that Jonathan Escobar, 24, of Richmond, and Jose Aguilar, 32, of San Francisco, were members of a gang called the “19th Street/16th Street Sureños” in the Mission District of San Francisco. Prosecutors said the Sureños were involved in drug trafficking and other crimes including murder and robbery. Their principal rivals were the Norteños, and violence between the two gangs was common, prosecutors said. In an attempt to increase their position in the gang, prosecutors said, the men used a gun to kill a person identified in the indictment only as “Victim-1” on Aug. 11, 2018, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of California, in San Francisco. A New Jersey man used Facebook chat to collect and circulate child porn that involved kids as young as 4 years old, authorities said Friday.
Devin Luis Ramos-Artigas, 26, of Paterson was arrested April 15 and charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said in a release.
Ramos-Artigas allegedly requested and exchanged lewd videos showing children ranging in age from 4 to 13, authorities said. “The investigation revealed that Mr. Ramos-Artigas utilized the social media platform Facebook to engage in a chat wherein he requested, received and sent videos of child pornography,” Valdes said. A judge ordered Romas-Artigas held at Passaic County Jail as his court case continues, authorities said. Boys’ Club of NY staffers HOMO-sexually abused child in ‘70s: Manhattan lawsuit
A man says he was sexually abused and raped by Boys’ Club of New York staffers more than 40 years ago, according to a Manhattan lawsuit filed Friday.
Beginning in approximately 1976, the plaintiff, who isn’t named in the Manhattan Supreme Court suit, says he was preyed on as a child by three employees — “Papi,” William Miltie and “Mack.”
The suit alleges that Papi violated the Arizona man when he was 11 years old on half a dozen occasions at the nonprofit organization’s Lower East Side location at 80 Pitt St. and at a summer camp the group operated. The Boys’ Club’s administrators should have foreseen Papi’s misconduct — as he was known to “wrestle with the male children and grab them inappropriately,” the filing charges. The next year, Miltie repeatedly raped the victim when he was 12 at the club’s 287 E. 10th St. location in the East Village and on summer camp trips, according to the suit. The abuse occurred after another young boy reported that he had been sexually assaulted and abused by Miltie but no action was taken, the papers allege. A Boys’ Club counselor known as Mack also allegedly violated the victim at the East Village location and at Miltie’s house in 1977, court papers charge. The suit seeks unspecified damages for breach of duty and negligence. A similar abuse claim was filed in 2020 against the organization, which has been in operation for 144 years. The lawsuit is one of more than 4,400 that have been filed as a result of the state’s Child Victims Act, which gives accusers a two-year window to bring old claims of abuse, according to a report from the Albany Times Union. A police officer fatally shot a man during a traffic stop in Nashville, Tennessee, early Saturday morning after he charged the officer with two butcher knives, authorities said.
The shooting took place in the city's Bordeaux neighborhood around midnight while Officer Christopher Royer was on routine patrol, Metropolitan Nashville Police Department spokesman Don Aaron said in a press conference following the shooting.
Royer initiated the traffic stop after learning the license plate on a white Mercedes was registered to a green Chevrolet, Aaron said. While the driver remained cooperative throughout the traffic stop, the passenger immediately got out of the vehicle with two butcher knives. Body-camera footage released by police on Saturday shows the armed man attempting to get inside the police officer's vehicle. The driver can be heard screaming at the man, "What are you doing?" and "Stop!" as Royer urged the man to drop his weapon. "I don't want to shoot you," the police officer is heard yelling on the video footage as he repeatedly requested backup. Aaron said Royer backed 25 yards away from his police car as the armed passenger began running toward him. As the man approached, Royer appears in the video footage to fire three shots to the man's chest before he collapsed in the middle of the street. The man died after he was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Aaron said. Authorities have not released his name. Are NYPD officers rushing to retire amid city’s anti-cop climate?
More than 5,300 NYPD uniformed officers retired or put in their papers to leave in 2020 — a 75 percent spike from the year before, department data show.
The exodus — amid the pandemic, anti-cop hostility, riots and a skyrocketing number of NYC shootings — saw 2,600 officers say goodbye to the job and another 2,746 file for retirement, a combined 5,346. In 2019, the NYPD had 1,509 uniformed officers leave and 1,544 file for retirement, for a total of 3,053. The departures and planned departures of 5,300 officers represents about 15 percent of the force. Already, as of April 5, the NYPD headcount of uniformed officers has dropped to 34,974 from 36,900 in 2019. Through April 21 of this year, 831 cops have retired or filed to leave — and many more are expected to follow suit in the current anti-cop climate, according to Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant and adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. “Cops are forming a conga line down at the pension section and I don’t blame them,” Giacalone said. “NYPD cops are looking for better jobs with other departments or even embarking on new careers.” The flurry of Finest farewells began after the Minnesota police-involved killing of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, with 272 uniformed cops putting in retirement papers from then through June 24, the NYPD data show. Maurice D. Craig of Niagara Falls pleaded guilty Tuesday to shooting two men in 2018.
Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III promised to give Craig no more than four years in state prison when he returns to court June 1 to be sentenced for two counts of second-degree assault.
Executive Assistant District Attorney Mary Jean Bowman said Craig, 31, shot the men in the legs Sept. 30, 2018, outside a house at 3030 Highland Ave., Niagara Falls. One man was treated at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and released; the other was treated in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, then transferred to Erie County Medical Center, where he was released after a couple of days, Bowman said. The reason for the shooting remains speculative, the prosecutor said, although Craig did know one of the two victims. |

According to the report, Xavaier M. Crayton, 19, of Niagara Falls, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Xaviar Travis, 19, on April 8. Travis was stabbed at 16th Street and Weston Avenue, officials reported. Officers responding to a report of a large fight said they found him on the ground bleeding. A suspect has been charged in a shooting that killed a 16-year-old in Flint.
Police officers were sent to the 700 block of West Dayton Street about 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20 for a reported shooting.
When police arrived on the scene, they found a vehicle involved in a crash and a 16-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Hurley Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. He has since been identified as Alvin Hicks Jr. The investigation led to the arrest of a suspect on April 21. The suspect, 22-year-old Demaurel Jackson, has been charged with first-degree murder, four counts of felony firearm, assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm from a vehicle causing death, and carrying a concealed weapon. |

The Laredo Police Department recently arrested a man wanted for a double-homicide in Georgia, authorities said on Thursday.
The case unfolded at about 10 p.m. on March 27, when officers responded to a report of two men loitering around the Jarvis Plaza area.
Officers attempted to identify one of the individuals. He allegedly presented an identification card that did not belong to him.
Officers eventually identified the man as Jerome William Adams, 25. Police said Adams had warrants out for his arrest for two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault from Gwinnett County, Georgia. He is accused of fatally shooting a 39-year-old woman and her 16-year-old son. |

WOODLAWN, Md. — A Bladensburg police corporal is facing child sex offenses in Baltimore County, police said.
According to police, LoQune Lee Brown, 34, of Woodlawn, turned himself in to Baltimore County police Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest on April 19.
Brown is charged with two counts of third-degree sex offense, two counts of sexual abuse of a minor and two counts of second-degree assault, police said. Police said an investigation revealed that between July and November 2020, Brown sexually assaulted a juvenile relative at his home on two separate occasions. Police said he is held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on a no bail status pending a bail review hearing. |

HISPANIC "Niagara Falls" man who fled to Puerto Rico admits guilt in 2018 homicide 
ANiagara Falls man pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to a 2018 fatal shooting in a restaurant near the SUNY Buffalo State campus, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
Hommys Rivera-Lopez, 26, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in State Supreme Court in the killing of Emmanuel Correa-Villegas, prosecutors said.
Rivera-Lopez was arraigned in September 2019 on second-degree murder and weapons possession charges. The U.S. Marshals Service brought him back to Buffalo from Puerto Rico, where authorities say he fled after the killing. Correa-Villegas, 31, was shot Oct. 16, 2018, inside La Casa De Sabores at Letchworth and Dart streets. He died the next day. Two mud men charged with murder in 2012 killing of Maine man 
Apr. 22—Two men have been charged with murdering Matthew Blanchard and injuring two others in a triple shooting in downtown Portland nearly nine years ago.
Zachary T. Phach, 31, and Khang Tran, 27, were indicted April 9 by a Cumberland County Grand Jury for shooting Blanchard and three of his relatives as they walked near Congress and India streets on July 11, 2012, Portland Police announced Thursday. Phach and Tran are charged with murder, aggravated attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault and criminal conspiracy. Police said in 2012 that the violent shooting appeared to be a random attack, but newly released court records reveal investigators now believe the victims were targeted by Tran and Phach. Tran was already in custody in the federal Moshannon Valley Correctional Center in Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania, for unrelated crimes. Phach was arrested in Modesto, California, on April 20. Both men face extradition proceedings to bring them back to Maine, according to police. Blanchard, 24, was walking to a store to buy snacks with three of his brothers around 1 a.m. when Blanchard and two of his brothers were attacked and shot near the corner of Congress and India streets. Blanchard, who was wearing a cast on his foot and pushing himself on a bicycle, was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at Maine Medical Center. A female police employee has been killed in a knife attack at a police station south-west of Paris.

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — A man was booked into the El Paso County Detention Center Monday for the death of an infant.
Marvin Rex Lake, 24, was arrested Monday and charged with capital murder, according to jail records.
El Paso police said Lake was arrested in connection with the slaying of 1-year-old Ahren Joshua DeHart. Lake's arrest affidavit provided details of what happened to DeHart while in Lake's care. On April 13, police officers were called to El Paso Children’s Hospital after DeHart was taken there with multiple injuries, including a skull fracture. Investigators learned DeHart, as well as another infant and toddler, had been left in the care of Lake while the children's mothers went to work. During a video call that occurred at 5 p.m. between Lake and the mother of the other children, identified as "witness Schneider," DeHart was seen and appeared to be "in good health and alert, but was crying and fussy." DeHart's mother was shown that video call, stated the affidavit. About 4 1/2 hours later, Lake called "witness Schneider," saying that DeHart had "rag-dolled" and had vomited a red substance, according to the affidavit. "Rag-dolled" is a slang term used to describe a person that goes limp when struck. Just before midnight on April 12 DeHart's mother and "witness Schneider" arrived at Las Lomas apartments and discovered DeHart unresponsive and not breathing properly, stated the affidavit. DeHart was admitted into the hospital in critical condition and was soon placed on life-support, as his injuries were described by doctors as acute and non-accidental. The affidavit listed the boy's injuries as brain damage, a skull fracture, hemorrhaging of the lung, abdominal injuries and bruising. DeHart died from his injuries on Friday, April 16, police said. Lake told investigators he had anger issued and didn't realize his own strength. A Medical Examiner declared DeHart's death intentional trauma/homicide. Family speaks out after slaying of 1-year-old boy According to the family, Lake was taking care of DeHart and two other children while DeHart’s mother was at work. Investigators said when the baby boy's mother returned from work to pick him up, the baby was unresponsive. Dejywan Floyd, 29, is charged with first-degree murder in connection to the shooting death of 47-year-old Julie Eberly, of Manheim, Penn. last month. Julie and her husband Ryan Eberly were driving down to Hilton Head to celebrate their wedding anniversary when the shooting happened, according to authorities. Investigators said a road rage encounter took place when the Eberly’s GMC Yukon came close to the suspect’s Chevrolet Malibu during a merge into a lane on I-95. They said Floyd pulled up next to the victim’s passenger side, rolled down the window and fired multiple shots. Floyd was arrested a week later. COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A Gaffney man who shot a South Carolina Highway Patrolman in 2019 has been sentenced to federal prison.
Officials say William Bernard Wright, a/k/a “Willie” Wright, a/k/a “Quentin Mitchell,” 28, of Gaffney has been sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison.
United States District Judge Mary Geiger Lewis sentenced Wright to 98 months in federal prison, to be followed by the statutory maximum of 36 months of court-ordered supervision, following a conviction for felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Wright’s 98-month federal sentence represents the statutory maximum of 10 years with credit for 22 months’ time served on the state sentence for the same conduct, as provided for in the federal sentencing guidelines. On December 9, 2020, Wright was sentenced to 35 years in state prison, following convictions in the state court system on four charges: attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a weapon by a convicted violent felon, and failure to stop for blue lights. Wright will serve the federal sentence concurrent to the state sentence. Evidence presented to the U.S. District Court showed that on June 2, 2019, Wright was in possession of a FN Herstal, model Five-Seven, semi-automatic pistol and 5.7 x 28mm ammunition at a time he was prohibited under federal law from possessing a firearm or ammunition based on numerous prior felony convictions. At approximately 8:00 p.m. on June 2, Trooper Paul Wise with the South Carolina Highway Patrol was on routine patrol in York County when he observed Wright operating a vehicle without a seatbelt. When Trooper Wise attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Wright fled and failed to stop for blue lights. Wright took the trooper on a car chase before bringing his car to a stop at the end a dead of a road. Wright then exited his vehicle, drew the firearm, pointed it at close range towards the patrolman’s front windshield. Wright then discharged at least 12 rounds at Trooper Wise. (Black) Woman out on bond for shooting charged in connection to another shooting that killed teen
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Investigators said a woman who was out on bond for a shooting has now been charged in a separate shooting that killed a 14-year-old boy in Orangeburg County.
The sheriff’s office announced the arrest of 23-year-old Angel Goodwin who has been charged with conspiracy. Her bond was denied on Wednesday.
Goodwin is the second arrest made in the case that brought a murder charge against a 17-year-old boy. “We’d made one arrest earlier this week,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “But that didn’t end the ongoing investigation that has resulted in this second arrest.” Investigators said they developed evidence that indicated Goodwin had in early March plotted to kill a 17-year-old boy from Santee. That 17-year-old was arrested on Monday and charged with murder in connection with the fatal Oct. 5, 2020 shooting of a 14-year-old boy, authorities reported. The 17-year-old murder suspect is housed at the Department of Juvenile Justice. “At the time of her arrest, Goodwin was out on bond for a shooting that sent a bystander to the hospital,” OCSO officials said. “That August 2019 case has yet to go to court.” |

PHOENIX — A 21-year-old woman is in custody after a deadly shooting in Phoenix Wednesday afternoon.
Police were called to investigate a shooting at an apartment complex near 19th and Peoria avenues around 1:30 p.m.
Officials found 24-year-old Dejahnique Jackson with a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCSC) - A Walterboro man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for a shooting in 2018 that killed a 24-year-old man.
The 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office announced on Wednesday that 45-year-old
Jermaine Silas White was found guilty of murder in the killing of Lennon Lee Poland.
A jury of eight men and four women also convicted White of possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime. He received a five-year sentence for that offense, which will run concurrently. “Jermaine White rushed Mr. Poland and shot him without provocation,” said Reed Evans of the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, who prosecuted the case. “Mr. Poland’s death was savage and calculated, and the defendant got the verdict he deserved.” Poland was sitting with friends on the afternoon of July 15, 2018 at a popular hangout spot on Francis Street. Prosecutors said White ran out of a wooded area nearby, pointed a gun at the back of Poland’s head and shot him behind the right ear. White fled on foot to a car he had parked a short distance away, and drove off as Colleton County Sheriff’s Office and Walterboro Police officers were arriving. According to the solicitor’s office, Poland, who was still conscious, and another witness to the shooting identified White by name to Walterboro officers. A report states that dashcam footage recorded by a responding officer captured a gold Oldsmobile that White had borrowed from a friend earlier in the day as he drove it away from the scene. Authorities also reported recovering a shell casing just feet from where Poland had been sitting. “It matched a firearm later recovered from White’s home,” the solicitor’s office said. “An attempted-murder charge against White was upgraded nine days later after Poland died of the gunshot wound.” Prosecutors said White’s criminal history dates to 1993. |

HOLLYWOOD, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office says a woman has been charged in connection with a crash that killed a 16-year-old girl.
Jail records show Tyesha Travia Jenkins, 36, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence resulting in death, driving under the influence resulting in bodily injury, and reckless homicide.
Deputies say the crash happened April 8 at 9:51 p.m. on Sugar Hill Road in Hollywood. Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal says the teenager died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. O’Neal says the girl was a passenger in the vehicle. Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Roger Antonio says the incident was a single car crash that occurred when the vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree. |

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Deputies are searching for a Ladson woman who they say is a person of interest in a fatal shooting in Orangeburg County.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is searching for 27-year-old Lamonica “Starasia” Crawford in connection to a February shooting in Santee .
“If anyone has any information on this person’s whereabouts, please let us know,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “We’d like to speak with her as she may have knowledge of this shooting.” On Feb. 20, deputies responded to a Resort Street home after receiving reports of a drive-by shooting. A report states that a 43-year-old person died from the shooting, and a 3-year-old child was wounded in the incident. The sheriff’s office said Crawford is about 5′5″ tall and weighs around 150 pounds. |

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday that a 77-year-old man’s charges had been upgraded to murder after his wife died from injuries she sustained in a shooting.
Monroe Mirray Cole was originally charged with attempted murder after authorities say he shot Hazel Daniels at their home on Handy Hill Drive on March 25.
According to the sheriff’s office, Daniels died last Friday from her injuries. Cole remains locked up at the Georgetown County Detention Center. |

Officers at the scene said they found a woman in a building, unresponsive and suffering from injuries from an assault. The woman, identified as Melissa Paige, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, John Chillum, 26, was taken into custody and charged with homicide. Police said Chillum is Paige’s son. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. Dramatic bodycam footage shows police shooting dead a Tennessee teen in his high school bathroom as he grabs a gun while resisting arrest — as officials announced that none of the officers will be charged.
Anthony J. Thompson Jr., 17, was sitting in a bathroom stall in Knoxville’s Austin-East Magnet High School when officers came in to arrest him on April 12 after his ex-girlfriend’s mom lodged a formal complaint of domestic abuse.
As he was told to put his hands behind his back to be cuffed, the teen suddenly struggled as he reached for a handgun in his hoodie — with it discharging during the struggle. Officer Jonathon Clabough saw the gun “with Anthony Thompson’s hand” on the butt and “thinks, ‘I’m about to die,'” Knox County District Attorney General Charme Allen said while releasing the footage during a two-hour press conference Wednesday. Clabough can be seen removing his weapon and shooting Thompson in the shoulder, firing again as Thompson fell to the floor with the officers surrounding him. The teen’s gun fell to the floor during the scuffle, but the officers all said they did not know that at the time — and assumed he had it in his hand ready to fire. Clabough’s second shot accidentally hit Police Officer Adam Wilson in the leg, a wound that the officers initially thought was from Thompson shooting, Allen said. The footage showed another student in the bathroom also cuffed and held on the floor, where he can be heard crying out in distress at seeing blood coming from his fellow student’s body. “This is a self-defense case,” Allen insisted as he announced no charges would be pressed. “It wasn’t an easy case; it wasn’t clean-cut,” he said, adding that “at the end of the day, we have found the shooting by Officer Clabough was justified.” Knoxville Police Chief Eve Thomas said in a statement that she was thankful the investigation determined that her officers’ actions were justified and they were “cleared of any wrongdoing.” The family is being represented by notorious Ben Crump the black criminal victim ambulance chaser. CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - A Chesterfield police officer was fired and arrested for soliciting a teenager for child pornography.
Chesterfield Police Chief Col. Jeffery Katz said that an officer overheard a rumor about the now-former officer, Brandon Hyde, potentially having an inappropriate relationship with a minor and brought it forth to management on Feb. 20.
During the internal investigation, Katz said they found that Hyde had an inappropriate relationship in 2019 with a 17-year-old girl he met prior to his employment with the police department. Katz said that during Hyde’s tenure with Chesterfield police, Hyde sent an inappropriate photo at least once to the girl and asked for pictures from the girl in return. “As a result, I fired Hyde on March 12, 2021, and promptly sent correspondence to the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services to seek revocation of his law enforcement certification,” Katz said. Katz said Hyde was arrested on Tuesday, April 21, for solicitation of child pornography and using an electronic device for the exploitation of a child. He was taken into custody without incident. During the investigation, Katz said “Hyde was completely forthright about his conduct during our investigation. He did not attempt to conceal or make excuses for his wrongdoing. Additionally, he forfeited the opportunity to appeal my termination of his employment and has expressed regret for his conduct. Now, he will be held to account for his behavior.” Hyde was hired in 2017 and assigned to patrol. New York (CNN)A man convicted in federal court for the 2017 terror bombing attack in a New York City subway station was sentenced Thursday to life in prison.
Akayed Ullah could be seen on footage in an underground tunnel walkway detonating a bomb on his person during morning rush hour December 11, 2017. Six people were injured in the blast. Ullah injured his hands and stomach. The tunnel connects two subway lines beneath the Port Authority Bus Terminal, a major transit hub in Manhattan that accommodates 220,000 passenger trips a day. The 31-year-old Bangladeshi man was convicted on six counts after a one-week trial in the Southern District of New York in 2018. Two of the charges, including using a weapon of mass destruction, carried a maximum sentence of life in prison. On the morning of the lone-wolf bombing attack, shortly before detonating his bomb, Ullah posted a statement on Facebook referring to then-President Donald Trump. "Trump you failed to protect your nation," the post said. Ullah also posted an ISIS slogan so that ISIS would know that he had carried out the attack on the terror group's behalf, according to the criminal complaint. According to authorities, the bomb was composed of a battery, wires, metal screws and a Christmas tree light bulb. "Ullah's motive was clear and unambiguous: a deeply held ideological hatred for America," Manhattan US Attorney Audrey Strauss said in a statement Thursday. A 21-year-old Long Island woman was assaulted by a suspect who doused her with acid on her own driveway in a disturbing incident her family claims was a “planned attack.”

A man mumbled an anti-Asian comment to a woman before making a threatening gesture in Lower Manhattan earlier this month, cops said Thursday.
The 47-year-old victim was walking at the corner of Desbrosses and Hudson streets in Tribeca around 9:30 a.m. April 1 when the stranger approached her and muttered something inaudible, including the word “Asian” — before raising his fist as if to punch her and standing in an aggressive manner, authorities said.

Police revealed the identity of the victim in Tuesday's West Hempstead shooting at a Stop & Shop, and provided insight into the alleged shooter, describing him as a "troubled employee."
Police tape still surrounded the perimeter of the supermarket Wednesday morning, several hours after the shooting unfolded in the store. The store's website says the location will remain closed until Sunday at 6 a.m.
Police say Gabriel DeWitt Wilson, who collected carts at the store, walked into the location Tuesday morning, went straight to the second-floor offices and shot three managers of the supermarket.
Wilson then took off, according to police, and after hundreds of tips, he was found hours later at 100 Terrace Ave. in Hempstead, just about five minutes from the supermarket. "We surrounded that building, we went in to keep everyone safe," says Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder. "He tried to flee and officers arrested him." Police identified the victim who was killed in the shooting as Ray Wishropp, 49, while two others -- a 50-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman -- are recovering after both were shot in the shoulder. Police described Wilson's previous arrest history -- all of which occurred in the Baltimore area. They detailed an assault arrest in 2006, a narcotics arrest in 2011 and attempted murder charges stemming from an alleged "gun battle" where Wilson was shot in the head. Police also say he has been taken in for mental health issues twice -- in 2016 and 2019. When it comes to a motive, police described Wilson as a "troubled employee" who had been accused of making unwanted advancements toward females and aggressive disputes with other employees in the months prior to the shooting. Officials say Wilson originally went to the manager's office at the store to discuss moving to a different store location in Hempstead. Wilson left without incident after the discussion, but officials say he returned less than an hour later to carry out the shooting. (Black) Texas Man Accused of Using Wrestling Moves on Toddler, Holding Him Like Football Charged With Capital Murder
According to a release from the El Paso Police Department, the man was identified as 24-year-old Marvin Rex Lake.
On April 13, officers with the El Paso Police Department were called to the Children's Medical Center after the 1-year-old child was transported to the hospital with multiple injuries, including a skull fracture.
"Investigators learned the victim, as well as another infant and toddler, had been left in the care of Lake while the children's mothers went to work," police wrote in the press release. "Just before midnight on the 12th, the mothers returned from work and found the 1-year old unresponsive. He was admitted into the hospital in critical condition and was soon placed on life-support, as his injuries were described by doctors as acute and non-accidental." According to police, the child succumbed to his injuries on April 16. The 1-year-old child was identified by the El Paso Police Department as Ahren DeHart. |

MACON, Ga. — A teen is now charged with murder after a fatal west Macon shooting that happened earlier this month.
A news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested 17-year-old Robert James Ottman Jr. after a tip was called in. They found him at a boarding house on Ponce De Leon Avenue at around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Ottman was wanted in the April 2 homicide of 24-year-old Kenneth Wendell Snead. Snead was shot just before noon that day in the 4000-block of Mercer University Drive near Blossom Hill Apartments. Bibb Coroner Leon Jones says he later died in the emergency room of the Medical Center, Atrium Health Navicent. Investigators were looking Ottman Jr. for questioning after the west Macon fatal shooting. He is now charged with murder and is being held without bond. |

CHICAGO — An Illinois man was sentenced April 13, to 45 years in prison for producing child pornography involving multiple minors.
The case was prosecuted by U.S. Attorney’s Office Central District of Illinois and investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the Decatur Police Department and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Cornell D.A. Johnson, 24, of Chicago was described by Senior U.S. District Judge Michael M. Mihm as a “ringmaster,” who engaged in an “exercise of power,” to prey on victims of a vulnerable age for his pleasure and satisfaction. According to admissions made in connection with his guilty pleas, entered on Feb. 19, 2020, Johnson controlled multiple female-presenting profiles on Facebook, which he used to contact female Facebook users. He then enticed the minors to send him photographs that progressed from various stages of undress to sexually suggestive and/or sexually explicit photographs of themselves. Once Johnson obtained compromising images, he threatened to injure the minor victims’ reputations and embarrass them by posting their nude pictures online if they failed to comply with his demands for additional images. Among his demands, Johnson specifically directed the minor teenagers to sexually abuse younger children in their household to produce images. At the time of his arrest, in February 2019, Johnson was identified in more than 80 Cybertips Facebook reported from across the U.S. and Canada to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force affiliate agencies identified 17 minor victims located in nine judicial districts across eight states. The victims ranged in age from 4 to 17 years old. Johnson has remained in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service since his arrest. He was ordered to remain on supervised release for life upon completion of his prison sentence. Columbus police release footage of officer’s fatal shooting of black girl armed with knife attempting to kill another
The truncated video begins at the moment the officer exits his vehicle and encounters the teen, who appears to be armed with a knife, chasing a girl outside a home.
The girl who was being chased falls on the lawn in front of the cop. The officer screams at the alleged suspect to “get down,” before the teen targets another girl on the hood of a car, the video shows.
As the teen swings the apparent weapon toward the second girl, the officer fires several shots at the alleged suspect, striking her. Police have said they were called to the home at about 4:45 p.m. for a call of an attempted stabbing. ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) -- Atlanta Police, along with Georgia State Patrol, arrested two suspects Tuesday afternoon after locating a car reported stolen in an out-of-state carjacking incident.
Around 6:06 p.m., APD received information on a vehicle that had been carjacked out-of-state, eventually locating it near Lenox Square. The vehicle fled when officers attempted to approach it.
APD notified GSP about the incident, after which the fleeing vehicle was located heading northbound on I-75 near the Chattahoochee River. Two suspects fled the allegedly stolen vehicle on foot, and were soon arrested. Police identified the suspects to be 20 year-old James Williams and 19-year-old Josiah Harwell. A pair of thieves were caught on surveillance video pulling a gun on a Manhattan parking garage employee — and then driving off in a BMW and Mercedes, police said.
The two men entered the garage on West 181st Street near Audubon Avenue in Washington Heights around 8 a.m. Sunday — one of them shown on video walking with a scooter.
They attempted to open a car door as one of the men told the attendant, “We are here to pick up a rental car,” police sources said. When the worker told them they don’t rent vehicles, one of the suspects held a gun to his head and forced him into a back room, according to the sources and the footage. On Saturday, April 17, 2021, at approximately 12:13 a.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting call at the Super Seven Inn, located at 9626 C F Hawn Freeway.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim, Lexia Lafon Kimberling, a 30-year-old white female, had been shot at the location by the suspect Santiago V. Philadelphia Police: 59-Year-Old Juan Guerra Charged In Murder Of Homeless Man Near Convention Cente
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A 59-year-old man has been arrested in the murder of a homeless man near Philadelphia’s Convention Center. Officers were doing a wellness check on the homeless population on the 100 block of North 13th Street on Tuesday just before 7:30 a.m.
Police found the victim, 49-year-old Johnathan Muldrow, unresponsive and suffering from trauma to his face.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators indicate Muldrow was assaulted with a pipe.
Surveillance video revealed it happened around 2:18 a.m.
Police arrested 59-year-old Juan Guerra on the 1200 block of Market Street.
Guerra is charged with murder and other related offenses.

3 'Hispanic'Nevada men indicted on fentanyl distribution charges 
RENO, Nev. — A federal grand jury returned indictments in March and this month, charging three residents of Sparks, Nevada, for their alleged roles in the distribution of fentanyl, following a probe by multiple federal and local law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
Jesse Arevalo, aka “Kay,” 30, and Francisco Navarro-Delgado, 32, are each charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, cocaine and heroin, and one count of maintaining drug involved premises. Arevalo is also charged with five counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances. According to allegations in the superseding indictment against him, from February to April 2021, Arevalo possessed with the intent to distribute at least 400 grams of fentanyl and at least 500 grams of cocaine. According to allegations in the indictment and arguments made in court, from about November 2019 to March 2021, Arevalo and Navarro-Delgado conspired to maintain several apartments for the purpose of storing and distributing large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine. Arevalo acquired thousands of fentanyl pills as well as kilograms of cocaine per month, using those apartments to store and distribute the controlled substances. Further, from about November 2019 to February 2020, Arevalo allegedly used students at a southeast Reno, Nevada, high school to distribute controlled substances, including fentanyl pills on his behalf. In a related case, Jaime Collazo Munoz, aka “Chivo,” 33, was indicted on four counts of distribution of a controlled substance (specifically, fentanyl). According to allegations in the indictment against him, from July 2020 to November 2020, Munoz distributed at least 80 grams of fentanyl. Two dead, FOREIGN (CHINESE) shooter - named "Za Uk Lian" who murdered a Hispanic Trucker - then himself
It began on Route 22 in Upper Macungie Township, when two motorists, a man and a woman, had some sort of encounter in the predawn darkness Wednesday.
Whatever transpired between them — authorities have not offered details — didn’t seem to unduly bother the woman, who heard a loud noise but exited the highway to get something to eat at the Wawa on Route 100. Not until she returned to her car with her sandwich did she notice a bullet hole in the vehicle.
Authorities said the driver of the other car, a white Corolla — identified as 45-year-old Za Uk Lian of South Whitehall Township — later pulled into the same Wawa. It was about 4:45 a.m. According to Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin, Lian drove up next to a Jeep Wrangler parked outside the store and opened fire, hitting the driver, then shot a truck driver who was filling his rig’s trailer at the gas pumps. The Jeep driver, who has not been identified, fell out of his vehicle, screaming for help and bleeding heavily, one witness said. The truck driver, 31-year-old Ramon Ramirez of Allentown, a father of three who worked for the A. Duie Pyle trucking company, was fatally wounded. The first emergency call came in at 4:48 a.m. Police from multiple agencies descended on the scene and started hunting for the gunman, who had fled on foot. Around 6:45, police radioed that they had found him at Brookside Children’s Center, a day care about a quarter-mile from the Wawa. He was dead of a gunshot wound to the chest. His death was ruled a suicide by the Lehigh County coroner’s office, which said an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. The driver of the Jeep suffered what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. There was no connection among the victims and no apparent motive. In a statement, Martin’s office said Lian’s car passed the woman’s car on Route 22 after their encounter, so it appears he did not exit and follow her to the Wawa but returned there “coincidentally.” A state trooper struck by a car as he helped with traffic control was treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest and released, Trooper Nathan Branosky said. “We don’t believe at this point that that had anything to do with this incident here at the Wawa,” he added. Martin commended the quick action of a Wawa employee who was taking out trash, saw what was happening, ushered two bystanders into the store and locked the doors. One of those bystanders was Matthew Caldwell of Bethlehem who was in his car sending a text when he heard gunfire. He dashed toward the store, taking a chance the gunman wouldn’t see him. LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man is facing an attempted murder charge in what police are calling a “vicious attack” on a man who was gambling at the STRAT.
Antoine Shaw, who police said is a fugitive from California, was arrested on April 17 for a stabbing that occurred on the evening of Thursday, April 15.
According to the arrest report, Russell Walker was playing at a Keno machine when Shaw came up behind him and asked for $5. Walker told Shaw he didn’t have any money but was holding a $50 slot machine voucher. Walker told police, Shaw grabbed the voucher, walked off, and headed to the buffet hallway. The report said surveillance video shows Walker followed and confronted Shaw in the hallway, and then Shaw pulled what is believed to be a knife from his waistband and flicked it open. Walker punched Shaw as Shaw simultaneously began stabbing him, according to the report. “Shaw began viciously and violently stabbing Walker multiple times in the head, chest, abdomen and knee area,” the report said. Walker lost a “substantial amount” of blood and needed emergency surgery for a collapsed lung. Police found the $50 voucher and an apparent blood trail in the hallway, the report stated. Shaw was taken into custody two days later following a robbery call on Sahara Avenue. The report said police found the two suspects in a vehicle at the corner of Spring Mountain Road and Rainbow Boulevard and the female driver “instantly began telling officers that they had the wrong person and the male was the one who stabbed someone at the STRAT.” Walker was also able to point out Shaw’s picture in a photo lineup of possible suspects. HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A 69-year-old woman who works with the homeless in the Clear Lake area was brutally beaten Friday night and, according to police, her attacker was a homeless woman.
Janice Rains-Moran spent three nights in the hospital. Since then, her alleged attacker, 23-year-old Marnae Brown, has been charged with injury to an elderly individual.
Rains-Moran's daughter told ABC13 the attacker pulled out her mother's hair, knocked out her teeth and gave her a concussion. The incident happened Friday night, outside the Riviera Apartments at Clear Lake on Buccaneer. Cameron Cave said it is hard to see his grandmother that way. "It's rough. It's just an older lady. Like defenseless. I mean, who could do that to someone like that? She couldn't fight back," Cave said. Rains-Moran has spent years helping the homeless. She builds relationships and helps with housing and other resources, said her daughter, Danielle Rains. Cave said the attack felt like a betrayal. According to court records, Brown is homeless and may have a mental illness or intellectual disability. She remains in jail on a $10,000 bond. Other homeless advocates, like Karen, who wanted to be identified only by her first name, know there are sometimes risks with outreach, but now there is fear. "Anyone working with the homeless, now you have a heightened awareness because someone has been attacked," said Karen. "It broke my heart. She works so hard." Karen said she hopes for more resources for the homeless from the City of Houston so that what happened to Rains-Moran doesn't happen to anyone else. LAKEWOOD, N.J. (AP) -- A man has been charged with attempted murder in an alleged knife attack on
two police officers in New Jersey, authorities said.
Lakewood police said the officers were called to a home shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday by a woman who said her son had been acting erratically. Police allege that the man emerged from his room and attacked both officers with a 12-inch knife,
leaving them with head and facial injuries.
Police say the two and a third officer left the home and called for a special response team and a crisis negotiator, and they tried to get him to surrender. At about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, special response and SWAT personnel entered and found him in a stairwell with what appeared to be a gun before he retreated to his room again, police said. Officers tried again to get him to surrender, and pepper spray was finally delivered through the third-floor bedroom window. The man emerged unarmed and was arrested, police said. The knife and the other weapon, which turned out to be a pellet gun, were recovered. SAN ANTONIO – A man has been arrested after San Antonio police say he sexually assaulted two horses on separate occasions.
Jean Marie Bugoma, 24, was charged with two counts of bestiality, a state felony, according to records with the Bexar County Jail.
An arrest warrant affidavit states that on Feb. 14, San Antonio police and the owner of the horse stables caught Bugoma at the location. He fit the description of a man seen on surveillance footage walking around naked through the horse stables on June 22, according to SAPD. In that incident, the owner noticed items out of place, a horse was out of its stall and two horses had sustained injuries. A veterinarian was called and determined that the horses were sexually and physically assaulted. DNA was taken from one of the horses and from the stalls, police said. A similar incident occurred on Jan. 7, when multiple horses were found “hobbled,” meaning their legs were tied together, and the suspect again committed bestiality, the affidavit states. After Bugoma was found at the stables in February, a search warrant was obtained for his DNA, resulting in a match from the initial incident, according to police. The affidavit adds that the horses could have also been possibly assaulted with an “unknown object.” Records show he was also charged with burglary of a building. His bond was set at $105,000. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 35-year-old Kansas City man is now facing charges for allegedly beating his ex-girlfriend to death.
Anthony D. Jones has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Michelle Long, prosecutors said Friday.
On Thursday, police were called just before 10 a.m. to an apartment at 98th Terrace and View High Drive in Kansas City for a welfare check. When officers arrived, they found Long dead on the floor, court records say. Large contusions on her body made her “mostly unrecognizable,” police said. Police originally reported this as a suspicious death, but later Thursday upgraded it to a homicide investigation. A tipster called 911, identifying Jones as the suspect. While investigating, police learned that Long’s car was missing from the apartment complex. Detectives tracked it down to a KCK apartment complex not far from Jones’ listed address. Late Thursday, Jones called 911, providing his location and said he wanted to turn himself in. When asked why, Jones said, “Murder,” according to charging documents. Police arrested the 35-year-old. In an interview, Jones said Long was a former girlfriend, but he didn’t know why police wanted to talk to him, only that family told him police were looking for him. When detectives showed him recent social media posts between he and the victim, he laughed. He also denied knowing how her vehicle ended up at his mother’s house after the murder. AUSTIN – The former sheriff's deputy suspected of killing three people in a shooting rampage near an apartment complex in Northwest Austin was taken into custody Monday without incident, police said.
Stephen Nicholas Broderick, 41, was arrested along a rural highway in nearby Manor. Police said authorities received two 911 calls around 7:30 a.m. about a man walking along the road. Manor Police Chief Ryan Phipps said Broderick had a pistol in his waistband. Manor police released video of the arrest. One victim was his wife Amanda Broderick who filed for divorce after his arrest in June, have two children. The Elgin school district on Monday identified two victims as Alyssa Broderick, who left Elgin High last year, and Willie Simmons, who was a senior there. Details of the shooting Sunday were scarce, but interim Austin Police Chief Joe Chacon described the incident as "domestic violence." A man has been arrested after three friends were killed and two were left wounded in a late night shooting at a tavern in southeastern Wisconsin in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Kevin Donaldson, Cedric Gaston and Atkeen Stevenson who were all friends were shot dead while enjoying a night out at the Somers House tavern. The bar is a popular hangout for students from nearby Carthage College and was also the trios favorite bar to go to. The suspect was asked to leave the Somers House Tavern in the village of Somers in Kenosha County just after midnight, but then returned and opened fire killing the trio. 'They had no hate towards nobody,' said Azriel Raasch to Fox 6. 'They didn't hate anybody. It just sucks. It sucks because our city's falling apart. 'They are the most kind-hearted, kid-loving spirit. It's just so hard to explain because they loved everybody, even if they didn't know you,' said Raasch. (Black) CRIME: 1 dog found dead, another barely alive inside Akron home, owner facing criminal charges 
AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - An Akron man is accused of abandoning two dogs inside his rental home.
According to Akron police, the owner of the home on Lakeland Avenue called police on March 8 after discovering the animals.
One dog was deceased and police said the other dog was barely alive.
The surviving dog was taken to Metro Animal Hospital for treatment.
Deon Downer, 35, was indicted on two counts of cruelty to animals and one count of abandoned animals.
Downer allegedly moved out of the home several days before the dogs were discovered.
He will be arraigned on April 28.

The victim, 33, had been driving with his children near Canal Street and Cortlandt Alley shortly after 8 p.m. when he stopped his car to care for his son who became sick in the vehicle, police said.
That’s when the unidentified brute got out of his own car, walked up, yelled the slur, told the victim to move his car and punched the window of the vehicle — along with the victim, cops said. The attacker then returned to his gray Acura and drove off, according to police. The victim, who had two young children in the car with him, later walked into the Fifth Precinct stationhouse in Chinatown to report the attack. California: Out of jail for one day, Hispanic finds ex-girlfriend, kidnaps and rapes her 
SANTA ANA, CA– One day after being released from jail, 20-year-old Lizandro Diaz Salgado ignored and disobeyed protectives orders by carjacking, kidnapping, and raping an ex-girlfriend in Placentia, say police.
According to officials, Salgado allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend outside her home before kidnapping her and raping her in her own car. In a news release, Placentia police said that the victim had already obtained a domestic violence restraining order against Salgado.
Officials learned of the horrible incident around 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13th, when a woman called to report that she suspected her daughter had been kidnapped from the area of Jefferson Street and Orangethorpe Avenue. Offices were able to locate a witness at the scene who said that they had seen the woman being forced into her car and driven off. by a man several hours before. Reportedly, while on scene, the victim returned on foot and said she had just been “let go” by her kidnapper, who she proceeded to identify as her ex-boyfriend, Salgado. She informed the investigators that Salgado ran up behind her earlier that morning when she was walking to her vehicle. She was able to barricade herself in her car, but Salgado jumped on the hood and began battering the windshield until it shattered. According to police, the victim exited the vehicle and tried to run for safety, but Salgado grabbed her by the hair, pulled her into the vehicle and fled. He reportedly drove the car to the back of a commercial complex in the City of Placentia where he sexually assaulted the victim. Detectives said that Salgado drove back to the area where he abducted the victim and released her is response to her continued pleas. However, he then drove off with her vehicle.
