Former Chicago Bears cornerback Mike Richardson, who started for the 1985 Super Bowl championship team, was arrested Wednesday in Phoenix on suspicion of murder.According to Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office records, Michael Calvin Richardson, 59, was arrested on one count of murder in the second degree, one count of possession of a dangerous drug for sale and one count of possession of a weapon by a prohibited person. ABC-15 in Phoenix (KNXV-TV) first reported that it was the same Richardson who played for the Bears and said he was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Ronald Like, 47, who was found shot and died later Tuesday morning. |
A 28-year-old man is under arrest for the caught-on-video fatal beating of a senior citizen in Brooklyn in September, cops said Thursday.
James Woods was charged with assault Wednesday for repeatedly punching 79-year-old Angel Diaz on Sept. 13 — even as he was down on the ground — leading to his death more than a month later, cops said.Woods allegedly approached Diaz in front of 46 Hoyt St. in downtown Brooklyn and punched him, knocking him to the pavement, cops said. Woods then hit Diaz multiple times in the face before running away, cops said. EMS rushed Diaz to Methodist Hospital, where he was treated for a broken nose, an orbital fracture and bleeding on the brain, police sources said. He was unconscious and unable to speak to cops. He was later transferred to Bellevue Hospital, where he died on Oct. 29. |

The city alleges that injuries to police officers have included “cracked vertebrae, lacerations, and concussions,” a report says The city of Detroit is trying a new tack during a year in which it, like many other U.S. cities, saw violent protests and destruction in the streets. Boston removes statue of former slave kneeling before President Lincoln after 141 years
(CNN)A Boston statue depicting a formerly enslaved man kneeling beneath President Abraham Lincoln was removed Tuesday morning, according to the mayor's office.
The "Emancipation Group" statue has stood in Park Square since 1879. The Boston Art Commission voted to remove it in June after two public hearings and hundreds of letters and survey responses.
"We're pleased to have taken it down this morning," a spokeswoman for Mayor Marty Walsh said in a statement to CNN.
"As expressed by so many during the public process this year, we fully agree that the statue should be relocated to a new publicly accessible location where its history and context can be better explained," the spokeswoman said. "The decision for removal acknowledges the statue's role in perpetuating harmful prejudices and obscuring the role of Black Americans in shaping the nation's fight for freedom." Man strikes plea deal in homicide inside Gary gas station
CROWN POINT — A man could face up to three years in prison after pleading guilty to a reduced charge in the shooting death of a 22-year-old man inside a Gary gas station.
Terry L. Horton Jr., 23, of Gary, admitted to one count of assisting a criminal, a level 5 felony.Horton had been facing a murder charge in the shooting death of Dorell Townsend, 22, of Gary, on May 31 inside a gas station in the 2700 block of West Fifth Avenue. Horton's plea agreement requires he cooperate with the state's prosecution of his co-defendant, whose murder case remains sealed because he is not yet in custody. Horton was represented by defense attorney Lakeisha Murdaugh during a hearing last week before Lake Criminal Court Judge Samuel Cappas. Lake County Deputy Prosecutor Veronica Gonzalez handled the case for the state. Horton bumped into Townsend's girlfriend, and the two stopped to have a discussion, according to Horton's plea agreement. Surveillance video showed the co-defendant pulled a gun from his shorts as Horton and Townsend talked, waited for a woman and three children to pass, and shot Townsend to death, records allege. |
A third man has been charged with murder in connection with a botched Dec. 3 carjacking that left a retired Chicago firefighter dead.
Devin Barron, 20, was arrested Saturday by members of the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force at a hotel in south suburban Lansing, according to Chicago police and Cook County prosecutors. Authorities found three semi-automatic handguns inside his room, prosecutors said.
Barron, of Lynwood, faces first-degree murder charges for the death of Dwain Williams, as well as a weapons charge.

Maurice Jewel Taylor Sr., 34, was arraigned at Antelope Valley Courthouse where is said to have refused an attorney and told Judge Alan Rosenfield he was not guilty.
He was charged with fatally stabbing son Maurice, 12, and daughter Maliaka, 13, on November 29 in Lancaster. It was five days before their bodies were found, prosecutors said.Taylor faces two felony counts each of murder and child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death, the Los Angeles County District Attorney´s Office announced earlier this month. On Monday he told the court police and other inmates were trying kill him and said he was an 'educated fitness trainer which is equal to being a doctor'. The court ordered another hearing in January. His other two boys, ages eight and nine, were shown their siblings’ bodies and forced to stay in their bedrooms for several days without food, prosecutors had said. It has previously been reported the children's mother was also at the home.

A $15,000 reward is being offered for Francis's arrest, and an all-hands-on-deck search for him has spread out to multiple states.Allegheny County Police arrested Jasmyn Henderson-Bracey, 25, Gesiah Grigsby, 21, Daniel Neal, 19, and Justine Kenyatta, 20, all of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, on charges of hindering the apprehension of Francis. Police alleged Henderson-Bracey and Grigsby were seen in surveillance footage at a grocery store in McKeesport with Francis on Dec. 22, two days after the Athans was shot. New York City’s Shooting Surge Hit Black and Hispanic Communities Hardest
[The Wall Street Journal would like your subscription to read this article] The number of shooting victims in New York City more than doubled in 2020, with low-income and minority communities hardest hit by "gun violence". New York Police Department officials say the surge in shootings this year is greater than any rise the city has seen in years, and it has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Between Jan. 1 and Dec. 20, the city recorded 1,824 shooting victims, up nearly 104% from 896 during the same period a year earlier, according to NYPD data. The number of shootings increased to 1,493 for the year so far, compared with 754 for the same time in 2019, the data showed. A single shooting could end up with more than one victim, which accounts for the difference in totals between victims and incidents. The Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice said people of color accounted for most of the victims. An analysis of NYPD data by that office showed that 1,440 of 1,495 shooting victims between Jan. 1 to Oct. 1, or 96%, were either Black or Hispanic. During that period, 29 shooting victims were white .

Girl Scouts accuse Boy Scouts of poaching new recruits
“Scouts honor” is out the window.
Lawyers for the Girl Scouts claim the Boy Scouts of America have been stealing potential members over the past two years — while engaging in a “highly damaging” recruitment war, according to papers filed in Manhattan federal court.
The bad blood between the organizations started when the Cub Scouts announced it would accept girls beginning in 2018. It intensified last year when the Boy Scouts also began welcoming girls into their program, causing the Girl Scouts to sue the organization over its move to rebrand as the gender-neutral Scouts BSA.
Last month, lawyers for Scouts BSA asked a judge to dismiss the trademark infringement lawsuit, calling it “utterly meritless.”
But in papers filed Thursday, the Girl Scouts doubled down on the accusation that the BSA has been intentionally poaching its member pool.

(Black suspect) Faces Charges In Fatal St. Paul Gas Station Shooting of (White) man
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Charges have been filed in a fatal shooting near a gas station in St. Paul’s North End neighborhood Tuesday.
The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office on Thursday announced 40-year-old Glenn Lee Burton of St. Paul is charged with second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder in the shooting death of 56-year-old Todd Gerleman.Burton is accused of shooting and killing Gerleman, who was found suffering from a gunshot wound outside an ARCO gas station on the 300 block of Larpenteur Avenue East. Gerleman, who is from South St. Paul, died at the scene. According to the criminal complaint, the incident happened when Burton’s girlfriend and her friend, Gerleman, drove to Burton’s mother’s residence. Burton, approaching them, allegedly told his girlfriend that she wouldn’t escape him and that he owns her before shooting at her. Gerleman was struck by the bullet. Burton shot Gerleman again pointblank before Burton’s girlfriend was able to drive away and call 911 at the gas station. Officers took custody of Burton near the intersection of Larpenteur Avenue and Oxford Street on the same day of the shooting. He was arrested hours earlier by members of the Ramsey County SWAT team. TDALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A suspect is in Dallas Police custody following a deadly shooting at a 7-Eleven early Christmas morning.
Police said the shooting happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. at the convenience store at 5910 Singleton Boulevard.
A man got into an argument with a store employee and the employee shot the man multiple times in the chest, police said.Police identified the victim as 38-years-old Brigido Cisneros. Police said surveillance video captured the exchange between the two men. The employee, 21-year-old, Junior Shushay Mekonnen Gebremariam, remained on the scene and was arrested for murder. On Friday at 1:55 a.m., Beaumont Police responded to the End-Zone Sports Lounge at 3430 Concord Road in reference to a victim of a shooting.
When officers arrived they located the victim in the parking lot unresponsive, suffering from a gun shot wound.Witnesses advised the suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers. Beaumont EMS was summoned and pronounced the victim deceased. An autopsy has been ordered. The victim was identified as Christopher Damond Brown, 25, from Beaumont. Detectives are in the early stages of the investigation and have obtained a murder warrant for Fredrick Carnell Harden, 50, from Beaumont. Harden is considered armed and dangerous and currently has another outstanding warrant for aggravated assault that was issued Dec. 3. |
HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — Horry County Police say they have their suspect in custody following a deadly shooting near Loris.
Horry County Police responded to a deadly shooting on Papas Bay Road in Loris Thursday.Horry County coroner Tamara Willard said the two victims were shot multiple times in their home on Papas Bay Rd. She said the shooting happened Wednesday night after 11 p.m. and the bodies were discovered Thursday morning. Police had been searching for Antonio Long in relation to the incident and they believed he was in North Carolina. Saturday evening, HCPD took to social media to say that Long was in police custody. Long faces two charges for murder as well as charges of kidnapping and criminal sexual misconduct. |
Portsmouth Police searching for 3 men charged with murder in connection with 7-year-old girl's shooting death
PORTSMOUTH, Va. - The Portsmouth Police Department is searching for three men in connection with a shooting that left a 28-year-old man injured and a 7-year-old girl dead.According to police, Trevon Dionte Avery, Antonyo Jamal Taylor and Avery Laquin Setzer have been charged with first-degree murder and malicious wounding in connection with the shooting, which took place December 22. Officials say they were notified about shots fired near Portsmouth Boulevard and Truxton Avenue around 2:25 p.m. on Tuesday. Shortly after the call, police say a juvenile female, identified as 7-year-old Mylani Everette , and a man were reported as walk-ins at a local hospital. Police say they suffered gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. Police said later Tuesday night they believe both victims were in separate vehicles when someone in a third car fired several shots at them. Mylani, who was reported to be in critical condition, died Thursday, police said. |
Brunswick man charged with murder, arson in 63-year-old’s death
BRUNSWICK, Ga. – A man was arrested in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found after a house fire in Brunswick on Wednesday, authorities said.
William Best Jr., 37, of Brunswick, is charged with murder, second-degree arson and felony probation violation.
According to the Brunswick Police Department, firefighters responded around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to a house fire on G Street.Once the fire was extinguished, police said, the body of a 63-year-old woman was found inside the home. According to Glynn County Coroner Marc Neu, the woman was identified as Lula Mae McDouglar. The preliminary investigation by the fire marshal with the Brunswick Fire Department determined that the fire was a result of arson, and detectives with the Police Department began to investigate. The Police Department said detectives were able to identify Best as a suspect. He was taken to the Glynn County jail around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. |
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - A man has been arrested in a fatal shooting in Montgomery early Saturday morning, Montgomery police said.
Police said the shooting happened around 1 a.m. in the 5000 block of Narrow Lane Road.
When authorities arrived, they found 23-year-old Darryan Motley
with a fatal gunshot wound. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.According to police, two female victims with life-threatening gunshot wounds were also found at the scene. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police said they also found the suspect, 23-year-old Adreain Johnson, with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Johnson has been charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder. He was taken into custody Saturday and is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Center with bond set at $270,000. |
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted for a shooting that took place Saturday.
Police say they are searching for 29-year-old Alexander E. Berkeley, of James City County, after a shooting occurred in the 800 block of Rochambeau Drive around 10:56 a.m. According to police, a male victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. There is currently no word on his condition.
Berkeley is wanted for two counts of attempted murder, one count of aggravated malicious wounding, one count of attempted malicious wounding, one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.Police say Berkeley should be considered to be armed and dangerous. |

Rogers and the teen are accused of killing 36-year-old Trevor Anthony Martin. The teen's identity is not being released because he is a minor. A female victim is still in the hospital. Police are also searching for a third suspect, Liam H. Gale. His mugshot is to the left. |

The suspects allegedly were involved in a shooting that sent bullets into the residence. At least one hit Mason and she died. A 9-year-old boy also was wounded in the arm but had been expected to recover, Kingston Police said. It's not clear what prompted the shooting, nor was the intended target known. Nashville, Tenn. — A large explosion in downtown Nashville Friday morning is under investigation by police and federal officials from the FBI and ATF. CBS affiliate WTVF reports the blast was felt across much of Davidson County around 6:30 a.m.
"The explosion was significant, as you can see," police spokesman Don Aaron said at a briefing Friday morning. "We do believe that the explosion was an intentional act."

Instead of jail, she got five-plus months of probation, with 20 days of rehab in January counted toward her sentence.

(Two black) Brothers charged with murder in death of Hardee County [WF] teen
MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — Nearly 15 years after the murder of a Hardee County teen, investigators have charged two brothers with the crime.
In February 2006, the body of 16-year-old Amber Woods was discovered about 20 feet off the south side of State Route 62 about three miles west of the Hardee County line.
Detectives say she was shot in her back and have continued to follow leads for years.
On Monday, the Manatee County Sheriff announced brothers Ralph Williams, 36, and Tyjuan Williams, 32, have been charged with Woods’ murder.
Detectives say Ralph Williams was "dating" Amber and wanted to end the relationship at the time of her death. He conspired a plan with Tyjuan to kidnap her, take her to a remote area and kill her because he thought she was pregnant. Text discovered by investigators revealed Ralph was concerned he would face criminal charges due to Amber being underage.

Elgin man shot his girlfriend during fight, prosecutors say
An Elgin man accused of shooting his girlfriend twice in front of her Elgin home has been charged with attempted murder, the Kane County State’s Attorney Office said.

DA Larry Krasner Charges Negro-named 19-Year-Old Man With Attempted Murder Of Philly Police Officer
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A man has been charged in connection to a shooting that injured a Philadelphia police officer. District Attorney Larry Krasner announced an attempted murder charge against 19-year-old Devon Smith on Wednesday evening.
Authorities said two police officers responded to a domestic incident just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 1200 block of South 56th Street in the city’s Kingsessing neighborhood.
Smith had both of his hands in his pockets and indicated to police that he had a gun, according to the DA’s office. Smith allegedly fired a gunshot at one of the officers as they attempted to apprehend him, missing the officer but causing gunpowder burns to the officer’s face.
The other officer then arrested Smith without any further incident, Krasner said.

Accelerant found in car of (Asian) Queens landlord connected to fatal fire
An FDNY dog found traces of accelerant on three gloves inside the car of a Queens landlord whose apartment house burned down in a suspicious fire that killed three people, police sources told The Post.
Cops and fire investigators were searching the home and Toyota 4Runner of Eric Chen in Flushing late Tuesday, when the canine made the discovery, the sources said.
Police seized the SUV, as well as digital recording equipment, a computer monitor and a hard drive, the sources said.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A San Quentin inmate who was sentenced to death more than 20 years ago for the murder and sexual assault of a Palm Springs woman has died, prison officials announced.
Condemned inmate Royce Lyn Scott, 62, who had been on death row since 1997, died at an outside hospital at 6:18 p.m. Sunday, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
His cause of death is unknown pending the results of an autopsy; foul play is not suspected, according to the CDCR.
Scott was sentenced to death in Riverside County on September 17, 1997, for first-degree murder and sexual assault of 78-year-old Della Morris in her Palm Springs home. He also received enhancements for burglary, rape and sodomy special circumstance allegations.
Scott was admitted onto California's death row on September 25, 1997.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with strong arm robbery and first-degree assault and battery following a robbery that happened on December 6.
Officials with the Columbia Police Department said Vintrell Thomas is accused of punching a 20-year-old woman in the face at a parking garage located at 1415 Sumter Street in an attempt to steal her wallet. Authorities said Thomas grabbed the woman’s wallet after struggling with her and left the area.
The woman suffered cuts to her hands, face, and body during the altercation.
On November 4, officials said Thomas approached a 20-year-old man and demanded his phone and wallet while pretending to hold a gun. Authorities said Thomas took the man’s phone and wallet before leaving the area.
Thomas was found on Bush River Road later that day after being accused of shoplifting at a store. When he was arrested, officers found the man’s stolen cell phone.

Chinese Man, 'Yang' allegedly punched cop, tried to grab his gun at ABC Studios
A man was arrested early Monday after he tried to grab a cop’s gun — and then punched the officer — at ABC Studios in Midtown, police sources said.
The uniformed NYPD cop was working security for the network at their studios on 44th Street and Seventh Avenue when, at around 3:30 a.m., Aohua Yang allegedly approached and asked what the last stop on the R train was.
As the officer searched for the answer, Yang, 23, allegedly went for his gun.
But Yang was unable to get the firearm out of its holster — and then slugged the cop, according to the sources.
The officer restrained Yang as he called for backup.

Police in Allegheny County are searching for Koby Lee Francis, 22, who allegedly shot an officer outside the McKeesport police station on Sunday.The video of the incident made public Monday shows Francis purportedly shooting the officer as he opens the door, then getting out and shooting again before fleeing the scene. Police had searched Francis for any weapons during his arrest, but he apparently had another one concealed. "When he got out of the car, he had a second gun that we didn’t locate on him and he fired on our officer multiple times, hitting our officer at least two times." County Police Superintendent Coleman McDonough identified the injured officer as Geriasimos "Jerry" Athans, a four-year veteran.
Francis was described by police as about 6-foot-2, and last seen wearing a black hoodie and camouflage pants. Police said he is considered armed and dangerous.

Eddie London Jr., a 56-year-old former elder care van driver, is facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of his 34-year-old ex-girlfriend, Dominique Boone, who passed away in August from her injuries in the July 29 attack outside her job at SCR Medical Transportation, the Chicago Tribune reported.Prior to quitting, London worked at the company with Boone, who managed to tell two eyewitnesses and a paramedic at the scene that her ex-boyfriend whom she previously filed a prior order of protection against was the person who mowed her down, prosecutors said. A coworker of Boone’s helped her tell her brother by phone that “London did it,” Cook County prosecutors said Sunday. London — who was never served with the protective order, according to prosecutors –allegedly stole a van from his former employer an hour before the attack and waited for Boone at a nearby gas station before running her over. Boone survived for 11 days following the ambush, but was left partially paralyzed and with spinal and pelvis fractures. She later died on Aug. 9 and her death was ruled a homicide, the Tribune reported. A judge on Sunday denied bail to London, who was extradited back to Cook County after being arrested in Indiana. “I find that your actions were cold, calculated,” Judge David Navarro said. “Laying in wait for the victim to leave work demonstrates a wanton callousness to the value of human life.” The van used to hit London was later found abandoned about a quarter-mile away – with its internal camera covered with tape. But an external cam caught London smoking a cigarette at a gas station prior to the attack, Assistant State’s Attorney James Murphy said. London, a former postal carrier, was also on probation at the time for an identity theft case in DuPage County, where he was previously charged with financial identity theft and unlawful use of a credit card after an investigation into undelivered bank cards on his mail route, the Tribune reported. An investigation was launched in 2017 against London, who was then working as a mailman in Elmhurst, after a resident reported fraudulent charges on one of their accounts, police said at the time. |

Allegheny County police search for (black) suspect involved in shooting of McKeesport officer
Authorities are searching for a suspect at large who they said shot a police officer in Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon. Allegheny County Police spokesperson Amie Downs told FOX News that police responded to a 911 call around 4:30 p.m. that a McKeesport police officer had been shot outside the station on Lysle Boulevard while making an arrest.
Police said the officer was shot multiple times and is in stable condition after being taken to a local trauma center. Police have identified the suspect as 22-year-old Koby Francis, who is 6 feet 2 inches tall with a slim build, black hair and black eyes. Charges filed against man police say killed 11-year-old boy, man in October’s shooting
HOUSTON – Charges have been filed against a man accused of killing an 11-year-old boy and man in an October shooting in west Houston, according to police.
Desmond Hawkins, 21, has been charged with one count of capital murder and one count of murder in connection with the death of 41-year-old Menuelle Solomon and 11-year-old Dominic Sumicek.The shooting was reported just about 4:25 p.m. on Oct. 25 on Old Farm Road near Westheimer Road. Investigators said Solomon and Sumicek were in a white Mercedes when they were approached by three masked gunmen who all opened fire. Houston police said they have surveillance video that shows up to 10 shots being fired by those gunmen. Police said the suspects were seen running to a nearby Pontiac sedan and left. Police said Solomon died at the scene and Sumicek was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he died three days later. The exact relationship between Solomon and Sumicek is unknown. |

Tiaundra Christon, 23, was found guilty of tampering with a human corpse in the October 2018 disappearance of her daughter, Hazana Anderson.The toddler was the subject of a massive search involving more than 160 people after Christon claimed she’d lost her in a College Station park. The mom had just returned to the area after a trip to Houston to visit her boyfriend Kenny Hewett, Galveston County Criminal District Attorney Jack Roady said in a statement. Friends reported seeing glimpses of Christon with the tot, and Walmart surveillance footage showed the mom pushing what appeared to be her daughter in a stroller, Roady said. But the case took an even darker turn when police discovered a life-sized doll dressed in clothing identical to what Christon had said her daughter was wearing when she vanished. The doll was found in a trash can across the street from where Christon parked her car. Officers learned that Christon had carried the doll around after returning from Houston, “pretending it was her baby,” Roady said in the statement. Christon later admitted that the tot had died in her Houston hotel room — after she and her boyfriend abused her, according to the news release. The twisted couple dumped the girl’s body in a Texas City lake, where she was fished out days later. Her official cause of death was never determined. Christon had pleaded not guilty in the case. Her co-defendant, Hewett, pleaded guilty to the same charge in November 2019 and was also sentenced to the maximum 20 years in prison. |

SAN ANTONIO, Tx. (KENS) – A 26-year-old man is accused in the “gruesome” murder of a woman in Texas.
Rafael Castillo was arrested and charged with murder in the death of Nicole Perry, whose body was found in Bexar County in November.
"It is really quite gruesome. And it appears at this point, from the information we have developed is that she was partially dismembered while still alive,” Sheriff Javier Salazar said.Sheriff Salazar said Perry was killed by an ax or hatchet and was wrapped in a tarp. Her body was found by a cleanup crew off South W.W. White Road. "I'll be honest with you, we haven't recovered all body parts. It is bizarre to say that,” he said. Investigators said Castillo attacked Perry following an argument. The arrest affidavit states that Perry was living in a home with Castillo and others. It goes on to state that Perry lost her father this year and had several outbursts. According to a witness, Castillo told Perry to “shut up, before he shut her.” The affidavit states that Castillo used a machete to cut off Perry’s hands, which a witness said were found in a crockpot. Sheriff Salazar said he expects more arrests in the case. The affidavit lists at least four people who are accused of helping to dispose of Perry’s body. |

A man is accused of killing a Native America woman on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribes' Reservation, the US Attorney's Office in Nevada said Friday. Michael Joshua Burciaga, 33, is charged with second-degree murder within Indian Country, the US Attorney's Office said. Pyramid Lake tribal police went to a house in Nixon shortly after midnight on December 15 after receiving a call about a stabbing and found the woman face down in the master bedroom. Shortly after, medics on the scene pronounced the woman dead. The victim, a registered member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe, is identified in court documents only by the initials A.D. Officers spoke to Burciaga outside the house and observed a laceration on his hand. As first aid was being administered, Burciaga "stated in sum and substance, 'I already know what happened, and I know what I did, which is why I slit my wrist,' " the complaint said. While in transit to a medical center for treatment, Burciaga asked about the victim's condition and told officers she was pregnant with his child. Burciaga is accused of stabbing the victim with "multiple knives." |

A disturbed career criminal was charged with murder Friday for allegedly setting the March 27 subway fire that killed an MTA motorman and injured more than a dozen others, police said.
Nathaniel Avinger, 50, who sources said had recently been confined to a psychiatric hospital, is accused of torching a shopping cart on a No. 2 train as it made its way through Harlem.
The blaze killed 36-year-old transit employee Garrett Goble.Avinger, who lives in the Bronx, was questioned by cops just days after the fatal blaze but was released after police said they lacked enough evidence to link him to the fire, sources said. Cops did charge him with setting another fire at the time — a March 11 blaze outside of a Columbia University Computer Music Center on 125th Street. He was released on a desk appearance ticket in that case and was cut loose in regards to the subway fire — although police said he remained a person of interest. But on Wednesday, police picked Avinger up on charges that he groped a female MTA employee, and charged him with the March 27 arson fire after being questioned by detectives, sources said. He was charged with forcible touching and third-degree sexual abuse in the groping case and was awaiting arraignment on the murder charge Friday. New York City Transit “has grieved and mourned Garrett Goble every single day for the last 9 months,” Interim Transit President Sarah Feinberg said in a statement cheering the arrest. “We are grateful to the police for their relentless persistence and hard work on this case.” Goble — a married father of a 5-month-old baby and a 10-year-old son, and a six-year MTA employee — was hailed as a hero for dying in the line of duty. “He was starting a whole new career. He was family, and now it’s over. It’s over just like that,” union chief Tony Utano told reporters at the time. |

Cops busted an ex-con this week, three months after he allegedly shot and killed another man in Staten Island, according to police. Tyler Carmon, 25, was picked up at a correctional facility in North Carolina and transported back to New York on Thursday to face a murder charge in connection to the Sept. 15 slaying of Cedric Black on Jersey Street in the New Brighton neighborhood, cops said. Black was blasted in the torso and rushed to Richmond University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Carmon was also charged with criminal possession of a firearm. The motive for the fatal shooting remained unknown Friday, and it was unclear why Carmon was being held in North Carolina. |

 Two individuals from Tennessee are facing federal kidnapping charges after a 2-year-old boy was abandoned at a Mississippi Goodwill drop-off.
Child welfare workers have taken custody of the boy who was left at the Southaven Goodwill on Monday morning with a change of clothes and a note that said, "child abandoned…no phone number for mom."
Local news media said the boy's name was Sergio.In a complaint filed Thursday in Memphis Federal Court, the FBI accused Jeremy Fitzgerald, 34, and girlfriend Turlisca Turner, 29, of taking the child and driving him from Memphis to Mississippi. The complaint said the boy’s mother Antoinette Smith told agents Fitzgerald took her child after she refused to work for him as a prostitute in Nashville. She said she called Fitzgerald numerous times to get her son after he left her behind in Nashville, but he didn't answer, according to the complaint. Smith’s sister then called Fitzgerald and during the conversation, he demanded money for the boy’s return. "Turner was aware that Fitzgerald had demanded money in exchange for the child's return," Memphis U.S. Attorney D. Michael Dunavan said. Turner was apprehended Monday wearing the same clothes as in surveillance video from the Goodwill, prosecutors said. Fitzgerald was arrested after crashing the maroon vehicle that he and Turner were in as they drove away from the Goodwill after dropping off Sergio, they said. He was seen on video at the Goodwill wearing a mask and holding Sergio's hand. |

Authorities charged Eric Bryant only with dismembering a human body, and not murder, in the death of Kimiko Armstrong, 61.Armstrong had to be identified through fingerprints, authorities said. Bryant, 49, who has 12 felony convictions — most of them burglaries — would later tell police that he panicked because the woman’s body was beginning to decompose and that he decapitated it in an effort to dispose of the body, prosecutors said. He told police, “The worst thing he did was wrap the head and cut it off with a handsaw,” Assistant State’s Attorney Kevin Deboni told the court. A Hammond man accused of murder escaped from custody Monday afternoon in Gary and remains on the loose and dangerous, according to Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr.Leon Taylor, 22, was being transported from Texas to Lake County by an agent from REDI Transports, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, when Taylor managed to flee from the area of 35th Street and Grant Street in Gary, despite being locked into a belly chain with handcuffs and a leg brace. A manhunt by Gary police and the Lake County Sheriff's Department, including its helicopter and K-9 units, was unable to locate Taylor following his escape. Martinez said the search is ongoing and anyone with knowledge of Taylor's whereabouts should call 911. An emergency alert about the escape was sent to mobile phones in Lake County at 7:48 p.m. Taylor is a black man, 6 feet tall and weighs 162 pounds. He has hazel eyes and brown hair.  HUNTINGTON — A man has been jailed on a firearm charge after Cabell County Sheriff deputies responded to a shooting Friday to find a woman dead.Deontae Cortez Hale, 27, of Michigan, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. According to Cabell County Sheriff Chuck Zerkle, at about 7 p.m. Friday deputies responded to a shooting call on Gary Drive, just off East Pea Ridge Road near Barboursville. Upon arrival, they were met by Hale, who said his girlfriend, Stephanie Nicole Childers, had been shot. The 23-year-old woman from Huntington was pronounced dead at the scene. Hale was charged because several firearms were found in the residence when he is a person prohibited from possessing them, Zerkle said. He is now housed in the Western Regional Jail. A Fort Lauderdale man is facing charges after authorities said he threw an infant out of a windown and stabbed the baby's mother in the eyes, leaving her blind.
Pierre Gabriel Ludovic Francois, 29 was arrested Saturday on three counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to a Broward Sheriff's Office arrest report.The report said the incident happened at a home in the 2700 block of Northwest 12th Court. Francois' mother told investigators that she was asleep in her room when Francois entered and "began acting like he was mad" and "began punching the walls and doors in the residence." The mother said Francois started to hit her with a two by four, and said he was "screaming for her to stop hurting his mother while she was attempting to tell him that she is his mother". She said Francois had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and wasn't taking his medication, and said she thought he was also under the influence of an unknown narcotic. Francois' mother said after she was attacked she heard Francois hitting the infant girl and the infant's mother, who yelled out "don't hit us" before there was silence. At one point, Francois was seen throwing the infant out of a window at the front of the home. Francois' mother was able to run to a neighbor for help, and deputies responded. When they arrived, the deputies found the infant face down in the front yard, and she was taken to Broward Health Medical Center. Pierre fled the home but was taken into custody a short time later. When deputies searched the home, they found the infant's mother with a laceration to her throat and multiple lacerations to her face, and she was also rushed to the hospital. They also found a knife just inside the front door. At the hospital, the infant was intubated and unresponsive. The doctor treating the infant said she was on life support with a traumatic brain injury and possible brain bleed. The infant's mother was also intubated and unresponsive with a large laceration on her neck and bandages on her face. A nurse treating her said she had a laceration to her trachea, a laceration on her liver, multiple lacerations to her face, and stab wounds on her eyes. The nurse said she would be blind as a result. Francois' mother had a dislocated thumb and lacerations on her forearms. Francois was hospitalized before he was arrested and booked into jail, where he remained held without bond. |

The gunman who was shot dead by police on the steps of St John the Divine Cathedral in New York on Sunday has been named as 52-year-old Luis Vasquez.
A picture obtained by DailyMail.com shows Vasquez in an identification card. He is understood to have had a lengthy rap sheet, including an arrest for attempted murder in 1990.
He also faced drug charges in 1989 and 2012 as well as a turnstile-jumping offense in 2007.Dramatic video on Sunday had shown the moment police confronted Vasquez before shooting him dead after he opened fire at the outdoor carol concert. Suspect charged with murder after police find 3 dead inside local home
COPPERAS COVE, Texas (KWTX) – Police on Sunday identified the man held in custody after three bodies were found inside a home as Bryan Richardson, 27, charged with three counts of Murder.Richardson was arraigned by Justice of the Peace John Guinn Sunday and received a $750,000 bond for each count. Police officers responding to a welfare check discovered three bodies inside a home in 1300 block of Fairbanks Street shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, officers were not able to make contact with the residents of the home. The officers entered the home and discovered the bodies. Richardson was taken into custody for questioning Saturday. He was charged Sunday. |

Authorities identified the stabbing victim as Nyteisha Lattimore — and later that same day, they arrested 20-year-old Desean Brown on a charge of murder in connection with her death, police said.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — One man is in custody Saturday afternoon after sneaking onto McCarran International Airport grounds.
Metro Police say it appears the man, later identified as 41-year-old Alejandro Carlson, jumped a perimeter fence around 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. He was spotted while walking on the wing of an Alaska Airlines flight headed to Portland, Oregon, the Associated Press reports.
The airline said in a statement that the flight was preparing for takeoff “when the pilot noticed an individual advancing toward the aircraft.”They said the pilot notified the tower. LVMPD was able to take Carlson into custody after he fell off the wing. He was transported to UMC Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. LVMPD detectives say Carlson is homeless and suffers from mental illness. “At no time were passengers onboard the plane in any danger,” LVMPD stated in a news release Monday. U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested nine people, including three alleged smugglers, on Monday after they were discovered aboard a boat off the Southern California coast.
Border Patrol was alerted after the U.S. Coast Guard intercepted a "pleasure craft" near Oceanside, north of San Diego, in an apparent "smuggling attempt," officials said in a press release. The Coast Guard led the boat to a nearby harbor, where the people aboard were interviewed by Border Patrol agents.
"During interviews, agents discovered that the nine Mexican nationals on-board had entered the United States illegally," the release said. It was the 64th maritime smuggling event in the San Diego area since the Oct. 1 start of the fiscal year, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In the 2020 fiscal year, San Diego Sector Border Patrol handled 309 smuggling events at sea, the agency said. |

SAN FRANCISCO — In a move targeted at a branch of the Norteño gang here, three men in their early 20s have been indicted on charges related to three Bay Area homicides. The killings include a 15-year-old boy who was shot dead after allegedly being mistaken for a rival gang member, a man shot and killed while walking with his girlfriend — she was shot in the head and survived — and the killing of a man whose body wasn’t discovered for almost two years, until tree trimmers came across it in the Oakland hills. Fernando “Nando” Madrigal, 22, Alvaro “G-Boy” Reina Cordero, 23, and Oscar “Cutty” Guadron Diaz, 21, were charged with racketeering, murder, and gun possession, prosecutors announced Monday. The indictment links all three to a gang known as the San Francisco Mission District Norteños and charges them with two fatal shootings in 2018, and one in 2019. Madrigal already facing charges related to the 2019 shooting, in which 15-year-old Day’von Hann was killed. At the time of his arrest, he was known as an activist in San Francisco who spoke out against juvenile incarceration and other issues related to justice reform. The 51-year-old victim was on the mezzanine level around 5:10 p.m. when Bazemore attacked him, police said.
A cop who recognized Bazemore from a wanted poster took him into custody late Friday; he had not been charged with the assault as of Saturday night, police said.
Arresting officers found a stun gun on him and charged him with criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Judge David Navarro on Saturday ordered Moore, who has no criminal record, held on $10,000 bond, meaning he will need to come up with $1,000 to go free until his next court appearance in the case. Suspect Nabbed After Man Found Fatally Shot In Stamford
Roadway 
Police have arrested a suspect after finding a
man lying in the roadway following a reported shooting. The
killing took place around 5:20 p.m., Monday, Dec. 7 in Stamford at
the intersection of Henry Street at Cedar Street, police said.
When officers responded to the location they found Jeffrey
Vanech, 49, of Stamford, lying in the roadway.
Medical care was rendered and he was transported to Stamford Hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.
Stamford Police Major Crimes Unit and
Crime Scene Unit investigators responded and were assisted at
the scene by a Stamford Assistant State’s attorney. The
preliminary investigation revealed that Vanech was shot while he

Taylor is suspected of fatally stabbing two of his children, a 12-year-old son identified as Maurice T. and a 13-year-old daughter identified as Maliaka T., on Nov. 29, prosecutors said. He’s also accused of abusing his two other children, 8- and 9-year-old boys. Taylor allegedly showed his youngest sons the bodies of their decapitated siblings sometime in the five-day period between when they were killed and when they were discovered dead. For several days, the boys were forced to stay in their bedrooms, where they did not receive any food, prosecutors said. Deputies were initially called out to the home in the 45000 block of Century Circle last Friday morning after receiving a report of a gas leak, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department reported. That’s when they found the two slain children, suffering “some type of a sharp trauma,” according to sheriff’s Lt. Brandon Dean. The trauma was from “either a stabbing or slicing device,” he said. |

City is recovering after being stabbed by an upset customer.
The disturbing altercation was caught on camera. According to Union

a bar in Hudson, Wisconsin. William Davidson, of Blaine, is charged with being party to first-degree homicide and first-degree attempted homicide, disorderly conduct and misdemeanor battery, court documents filed in St. Croix County, Wisconsin, show. According to a criminal complaint, Davidson was one of a group of people who allegedly fought with bar-goers early Sunday morning in downtown Hudson. Witnesses identified Davidson as one of the people involved in fights that left three people stabbed, one of them fatally. However, Davidson was not the one wielding the knife, witnesses said. On Monday, authorities identified the man fatally stabbed as 26-year-old Cain Solheim of New Brighton. He suffered knife wounds to his lungs, the criminal complaint states. 700 block of Lewis Avenue. Spruille was still at Advocate Condell
Hospital in Libertyville Wednesday, where she was being treated for
injuries received Monday night, officials said. After she is
released, Spruille will be transported to the Lake County jail,
police said. Her alleged accomplice, a 16-year-old boy from Waukegan, has also been charged with armed robbery. He has been taken to the Depke Juvenile Detention Center in Vernon Hills, according to police. The pair, police say, attempted to rob the One Stop food and liquor store in the 1000 block of Fairfield Road at about 10:45 p.m. Monday. Police said at least one of them was armed, and that the pair entered the store and ordered the store employees to stand behind a counter. One store employee, though, was able to access a gun and fired on the would-be robbers, authorities said. Both alleged robbers were struck at least once, police said, but were able to reach a getaway vehicle parked outside that was occupied by two other people. The four drove away north on Fairfield Avenue, but Round Lake Heights police spotted the car about a mile north of the store. The vehicle stopped and two occupants fled on foot. Police then arrested the two wounded subjects who were left inside the vehicle, which authorities say was stolen in Kenosha, Wis. Police are continuing to search for the other two accomplices. |

Tuesday after they said he shot a puppy in the head. Gary Wayne Floyd approached a four-month-old stray puppy in a driveway and shot it, according to an incident report. A witness told police the puppy was not attacking anyone or being aggressive. Floyd was going to shoot the puppy days earlier, but was stopped by people at the residence the puppy was at, according to the report. He shot the puppy at about 3:45 p.m. Monday, picked it up and threw it into a water-filled ditch by the road, according to the report. Police found blood and a single shell casing on the ground at the scene. The puppy was retrieved from the ditch and had a bullet hole in its right ear and out the back of its neck. The residents of the home agreed to bury the puppy, according to the report. Floyd told police he shot the dog because his aunt asked him to, according to the report. Floyd has been charged with cruelty to animals. He remained in jail, as of Wednesday morning. |

CA (CBS13) — A woman is accused of kidnapping and torturing her
ex-girlfriend for weeks in her Stockton home.
Dorothy Bell was charged with 39 counts Wednesday
afternoon including kidnapping, torture, false imprisonment and
assault with a deadly weapon. According to the complaint, Bell is
accused of using a knife, hammer, golf club and firearm to
assault her victim. The complaint explains that she
tortured her ex-girlfriend, “with the intent to cause
cruel and extreme pain and suffering for the purpose of revenge,
extortion, persuasion and for a sadistic purpose.” The victim was found naked with her arms bound behind her back last Friday on a front porch in Stockton. A crisis negotiation team was called to the house in an effort to get Bell out, officials said, but she escaped to a neighboring home with three people inside. Bell broke into a neighbor’s house, confusing the family of four inside. The man tells CBS13 that Bell threatened his family and held a knife to his son’s neck. The homeowner said he spent an hour with Bell and had to fight to get away from her. “I tried to protect myself because she grabbed the knife, right. And then I try to grab the knife from her and pull her out,” he explained. “She tried to get away from me and then she tried to bite me, bite my hand and start fighting.” |

According to prosecutors, police responded to the home after a woman reported awakening to a man holding a knife to her throat. Prosecutors said the woman noticed her phone lines were cut after the suspect left the home and escaped to a neighbor’s home to call 911. WASHINGTON — China’s Communist government is waging a covert
operation to influence members of Congress into supporting
pro-Beijing policies, the Director of National Intelligence said
Thursday. In an op-ed published in the Wall Street Journal, DNI boss John Ratcliffe warned that officials in China were engaged in a “massive influence campaign” which targeted US lawmakers with six times the frequency of Russia and 12 times that of Iran. “This year China engaged in a massive influence campaign that included targeting several dozen members of Congress and congressional aides,” Ratcliffe wrote. The intelligence chief warned of a scenario where Chinese-owned manufacturing facilities employing thousands of Americans could influence union chiefs to turn against lawmakers supporting disadvantageous policies — or risk losing their jobs. The warnings came as part of a stark op-ed which described the Communist nation as the biggest national security threat to the United States. |

say a black Cleveland man kidnapped a Cuyahoga Falls woman
he knew, killed her mother in Barnesville around 3
a.m. on Thanksgiving day and fled to Cleveland and then Louisiana. That's where Thoue Nichole Bronowski, 45, was rescued Tuesday night after police killed the man in a shootout at a hotel in Pineville, La., about 100 miles northwest of Baton Rouge. An FBI agent was also injured during the gunfight. His condition was not released. The dead suspect was identified as 47-year-old James Edward Hawley, also known as Ahmad Ben David, police said during a Wednesday morning press conference. Bronowski is expected to be reunited with her family soon, authorities said, though she was described as being extremely distraught by the ordeal. Bronowski had not been seen since 6:35 p.m. Nov. 25, according to Cuyahoga Falls police. It is believed that Hawley took her to the home of Bronowski's mother, Norma J. Matko, 68, in Belmont County in the early morning hours Thanksgiving day. Police said Hawley shot and killed Matko and then drove Bronowski to Cleveland in Matko's vehicle, which was later found abandoned and burnt. It is believed Hawley then took Bronowski to Louisiana in a different vehicle. Investigators determined that the suspect posted numerous photos of himself with firearms on social media, with statements saying he wanted "to kill some cops.” Being a felon and in possession of firearms, the FBI pursued federal charges, News 5 Cleveland reported. - (Black-on-White) |

N.C. — A Cramerton man died after being shot during a home
invasion early Monday was defending his family from the intruders,
his girlfriend said. Heidi McQueen said three people broke into their home. She said Brenton Edward McCaskill fought one of the suspects before chasing them outside. That's when he was shot by one of the suspects. "Josh, [my son], and I tried to perform CPR," McQueen said. "But, it was too late." According to the Gaston County Police Department, the incident happened early Monday at McCaskill's home on Fifteenth Street. When Cramerton Police officers got to the home, they found McCaskill suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to CaroMont Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. McQueen told WCNC Charlotte if it wasn't for Brenton McCaskill's quick actions, she and her two children, as well as her son's boyfriend, wouldn't be alive today.  "Brenton
McCaskill is a hero," McQueen said. "He lived his life a hero, and
he died a hero. He died protecting us." Police identified four
suspects in the case: Jonathan Elijah Jones, Ramon Lopez, Tyler
Leonhardt and Tyler Reno. Jones and Lopez are both
charged with first-degree murder while Leonhardt and Reno
are charged with accessory after the fact. According to arrest
warrants, Leonhardt and Reno are accused of helping to get rid of
the gun used in the shooting.

man Saturday night has been "relieved" of duty. (lynched) The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said Tuesday that the shooting "victim" — 31-year-old Joseph Javonte Washington — is still being treated at St. Paul’s Regions Hospital. He has been charged by the Dakota County Attorney’s office with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of kidnapping and one count of second-degree assault in connection to alleged crimes perpetrated in his Lakeville home several hours before he was shot. Investigators said the vehicle Washington and his victim were in crashed just before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Rice Street and Maryland Avenue in St. Paul’s North End neighborhood. Investigators said Washington then broke into a nearby home. The homeowner called 911, and officers soon arrived to find Washington naked and hiding in a dumpster just after 9 p.m. on the 1000 block of Rice Street. St. Paul police said officers tried to talk him out, and one deployed a PepperBall, which is an irritant similar to pepper spray. Washington then climbed out of the dumpster and ran towards the officers. The officers used Tasers and a K-9 officer in an effort to stop him, and then one officer — who a source says is Officer Anthony Dean — shot him at least twice. |

boy admitted to slashing his baby sister in Brooklyn on
Tuesday, the boy’s great-grandmother told The Post. The 14-month-old toddler, named Kiya, was left with cuts to her stomach after the knife attack in the back room of a Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment on Patchen Avenue near Jefferson Avenue around 5 p.m. “I heard the baby crying but it was a normal cry,” Elaine Thomas, the children’s great-grandmother, told The Post. “It wasn’t like screaming or anything.” “I came in and she was covered in blood,” said Thomas, 79. “I held the baby like, ‘What the hell is going on?’ I called her mother and said, ‘Get home quick, fast.'” She said she asked the boy if he had done it, and he answered, “Yes.” He wouldn’t say why, Thomas said. The baby was at Bellevue Hospital on Wednesday morning, where police said her condition had stabilized. The brother, Jamill, who has autism, was taken to the Kings County Hospital Center for a psychological evaluation. Tiffany Douglas, the baby’s 32-year-old mother, left the baby with Thomas while she was out shopping, according to police sources. When she came home, she found her young daughter bleeding and a knife on the scene, the sources said. |

(WPVI) -- The founder of a Philadelphia skateboarding club has been
charged with rape and sexual assault of two children. Investigators say 52-year-old Rodney Watkins, founder of the "Powerfulnailya" skateboarding club, allegedly met the children back in 2011 and 2012 when the victims were 11 and 12 years old. The victims reported the incidents to police as adults. Both victims reported interacting with Watkins at several locations including POPS Skatepark at Trenton and Hazzard streets, Whitehall Skatepark at Torresdale Avenue and Wakeling Street, and Paine's Park near the Art Museum. According to the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, one victim was a member of a skateboarding team. The other was not a member, but was invited to travel with the team and was also offered meals and gifts from Watkins. The assaults allegedly occurred at Watkins' home during sleepovers and in a hotel room during an out-of-state trip. |

the minutes before those text messages, Indianapolis Metropolitan
Police Department (IMPD) investigators discovered a group of
four men and one woman was roaming the vicinity of Delaware,
Michigan, Vermont and Talbot Streets, pointing and firing guns and
committing armed robberies of motorists parking their vehicles.
Surveillance video from a nearby parking garage captured the group,
including Marcus Jayon Anderson, who was 23-years-old that
night, robbing drivers at gunpoint. |

Florida man who shot and wounded a St. Petersburg cop during a
shootout Wednesday was killed after being hit 38 times. Dominique Harris, 20, who was “a person of interest” in a 2019 murder, got into a dramatic, caught-on-video gunfight with police outside a convenience store, with cops firing 50 shots in the exchange, the Tampa Bay Times reported. Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualitieri said Harris fired first, shooting at cops “at least four times” with a semiautomatic handgun after he tried to ram a roadblock — hitting one officer. Police said he was currently being sought on a child abuse charge, the Times said. The cops then returned fire, hitting Harris with a barrage of bullets, fatally wounding him. Gualitieri said there were six officers involved, five of them undercover cops. A Queens man was sentenced Wednesday to 21 years in prison for the
broad-daylight slaying of his daughter-in-law on a city street,
officials said. Dahe Lin, 77, pleaded guilty last month to first-degree manslaughter for plunging a kitchen knife into the neck of Wen Ying He, 50, during an argument March 28, 2019. “This defendant viciously attacked the wife of his son and murdered her on a public street in plain view of witnesses,” said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz in a statement. “This was an unimaginably horrific crime.” The deadly assault unfolded at about 8:30 a.m. on Suydam Street in Ridgewood outside the home that Lin and He shared. CITY (KFOR) – Police have arrested one man in connection to a deadly
shooting that claimed the life of a woman at a gas station. Shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday night, officers were called to a reported shooting at a gas station near N.W. 10th and Western. When officers arrived, they found 31-year-old Jessica Kotulsky dead at the scene. Investigators say she had been shot to death. Authorities learned that a group of men became involved in an altercation that led to the men exchanging gunfire. Officials say Kotulsky was an innocent bystander who was hit by a stray bullet. Investigators say 29-year-old Kemun Davis was identified as one of the people involved in the shooting. He was ultimately arrested on complaints of felony murder and possession of a firearm after a conviction of a felony. Authorities said Jones early in the morning on Dec. 3, 2018, used an unlocked door to enter a Trotwood home, where he raped a 24-year-old woman at gunpoint. Two days later, authorities said Jones used an unlocked window to break into a different Trotwood home and raped a 34-year-old woman at gunpoint. Both sex crimes happened in the Salem Village neighborhood. In a trial Jones was found guilty of rape, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and kidnapping in October after he was transferred from the juvenile justice system. Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Michael Krumholtz said Tuesday he landed on the sentence because of the fear Jones caused. “The sheer terror caused by Mr. Jones to the women is difficult to imagine,” the judge said. |

AUSTIN
(KXAN) — A 27-year-old man has been charged with two counts of
felony aggravated assault in connection to what police describe was
a “ random” shooting of two men at a north Austin gas
station Monday morning. According to police, an officer responded to the Mobil Gas Station located 700 block of East St. Johns Avenue near Interstate 35. The officer says he found both victims with gunshot wounds to the head. They were later transported to a nearby hospital, where they’re expected to recover from their injuries. Witnesses described the gunman as wearing red sweatshirt, red sweatpants and a blue backpack. Officers were then able to track Dante Crawley, who they say matches that description, to a nearby hotel. Detectives later reviewed the gas station’s surveillance footage and say they saw the gunman, also matching Crawley’s description, pacing next to a small group of men in the parking lot. They say the gunman in the video suddenly opened fire while one of the victims was turned away and talking on his cell phone. As the second victim approached the gunman, he was shot in the head, stomach and legs. Detectives say the gunman is then seen leaving the area in the direction of the hotel where Crawley was later detained. Crawley is being held in the Travis County Jail on a $2 million bond. |

CO — A man is accused of a string of robberies and sexually
assaulting a woman at gunpoint in her massage business, the Denver
District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday. Trevondus Estes, 32, faces 51 counts, including second-degree kidnapping, sexual assault, aggravated robbery and possession of a weapon by a previous offender, the DA's office said. Estes' arrest photo has not been released due to investigations that are underway. |

hip-hop and reality television personality is facing charges after
allegedly punching a cast member at Disney World. Authorities said " Spectacular Blue Smith" was walking toward a ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom when he made a sneezing gesture and said “coronavirus.” The cast member told authorities he told Smith that he was not funny, to which Smith allegedly replied, “I thought it was.” The cast member then asked Smith to leave the line twice, but Smith refused. When the cast member tried to block smith from continuing in the line, the arrest report says Smith punched him twice. The cast member was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Smith was arrested and faces a battery charge for the incident. Smith has since posted bond. |

Rapper Casanova Among 18 Alleged Gang Members Facing Murder,
Drug, Gun Charges 
Authorities
on Tuesday announced the indictment of 18 people, including New York
City rapper Casanova, in connection to a litany of
gang-related crimes including racketeering, murder, drugs, firearms,
and fraud offenses. Acting U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss and other law enforcement officials issued a statement accusing those named in the indictment of being part of the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation gang, operating in New York City and part of New York state. Authorities said 17 of the 18 named in the indictment were in custody. The FBI’s New York office issued a tweet saying Casanova, whose legal name is Caswell Senior, was still being sought. |

fraudulent EDD cards between them, Glendale police said Tuesday. Stephan Morgan, 34, of Canoga Park, was stopped by Glendale police officers because he was standing among cars parked in a lot in the area of San Fernando Road and Alameda Avenue at about 11 p.m. Monday. Zenia West, 34, of Valley Village, was sitting in the driver’s seat of one of the vehicles, which had expired tags, police said. According to Glendale police, both consented to a search of their vehicles. Officers found an EDD card issued to another person and a semi-automatic “ghost gun” pistol — a weapon with no serial numbers or identifying markers — loaded with a 17-round high capacity magazine in West’s car, along with names, birthdates, addresses and social security numbers on his phone, Glendale police said. |

Attorney’s Office says a 29-year-old father has been charged with
first-degree murder in the October death of his 10-month-old
daughter. Austin Stevens, of Lower Providence Township, is
due in court Tuesday afternoon for the Oct. 3 murder of his
daughter Zara Scruggs. Authorities say Zara was sexually assaulted by Stevens before she died. Investigators found that prior to calling 911, Stevens had conducted multiple Google searches on his cellphone with subjects relating to, “If baby stop breathing,” “What if you don’t hear a baby heart beat,” “My baby isn’t breathing,” and “How do you know if a baby is dead,” for about and hour before calling 911. |

officials said. The alleged ringleaders, Sarah Kaplan and Ibrahim Aksakal, both residents of Long Island, New York, brazenly advertised their services on Turkish-language Facebook pages and websites with titles like “My baby should be born in America,” prosecutors said. The defendants are accused of providing expectant mothers a full-service experience: lodging in New York, transportation, help applying for citizenship for their children, and purported “insurance” to cover all medical costs, which amounted to fraudulently-obtained Medicaid benefits. The cost for these services: roughly $7,500, nearly all in cash, prosecutors said. Between January 2017 and September this year, the suspects were paid approximately $750,000 in fees, and Medicaid disbursed more than $2.1 million in illicitly-obtained benefits, according to prosecutors. |

The divorced mother of two became “totally obsessed” with Jayesh Gobar, whom she had met at work, but the 35-year-old was actually “only interested in her money” to buy drugs, according to the report about the hearing. The relationship took a violent turn at one point and, 18 months before Myers was slain, Gobar wrapped his hands around her neck and threatened to kill her during a robbery at her home, the Hove Crown Court heard. Gobar was convicted and received a three-year prison sentence — but was sprung early in May 2019 and fitted with an ankle bracelet on condition of not contacting Myers or visiting her hometown until April 2021, the Sun reported. Despite the violence and his ensuing conviction, the couple resumed their relationship after she sent him a friend request on Facebook, according to the outlet. N.C. (WNCN) – Edgecombe County deputies say hate crime charges are
possible in a machete attack on Friday. The attack happened Friday
around 9 a.m. at a house on Carr Farm Road in Macclesfield. According to deputies, the suspect, identified as Carlos Antonio Washington, was waiting behind the couple’s house and attacked the homeowner once the victim went inside the house. Deputies said the homeowner fought the suspect off momentarily and deflected the machete. The homeowner’s wife came out with a gun and shot at Washington – ending the attack. The suspect ran to his car and started to drive on U.S. 258 toward Tarboro, deputies said. While deputies were on the way to the scene, Deputy A. Lewis located the suspect’s vehicle. Washington and the couple had no known interactions before. “It was kind of scary,” said neighbor Dereck Draughon. “Everybody knows one another.” Washington was not known to authorities before Friday’s attack. The couple will be OK, deputies said. - (Black-on-White) Deputies said federal hate crime charges are possible as the suspect is a Black Hebrew Israelite who attacked a white family at random. 10 women in Los Angeles. However, the court reversed his

Dewayne Turner, a 54-year-old one-time pizza deliveryman, was
convicted in 2007 of first-degree murder for killing the women over
the course of more than a decade in the 1980s and 1990s. Most
victims were vulnerable women who were homeless, drug users or
prostitutes, prosecutors said. Turner also was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of the female fetus of a woman who was about 6 1/2 months pregnant. During an automatic appeal, the state Supreme Court agreed with defense attorneys who argued that hearsay evidence about the ability of the child to survive outside the womb undermined the second-degree murder conviction. However, the court ruled that error didn’t require throwing out the death sentence for Turner, who is considered one of the city’s most prolific serial killers. |

(CBS) — Philadelphia police are searching for five nig teenagers
who, they say, beat a woman unconscious and stole the woman’s car in

Police say a 40-year-old woman was getting in her car on the 1700 block of Wylie Street when she was approached by the suspects from behind. The savage suspects then started punching her in the head, police say. The victim was knocked unconscious during the attack. The woman was transported to an area hospital and treated for a broken nose and a concussion. One of the male teenagers entered the woman’s 2007 gray Honda Fit and drove south on Wylie Street. The four other suspects fled on food and were last seen heading north on Wylie Street. The suspects were described as five black males in their teens. All of the teens were wearing hooded sweatshirts, with the hoods up and surgical masks on their faces. |

Pa. (AP) – A former Lehigh University student on Monday admitted
poisoning his roommate’s food and drink with a heavy metal
substance. Yukai Yang, 24, pleaded guilty to
attempted murder. Under the terms of a plea agreement, the
Northampton County District Attorney’s Office will withdraw other
charges in two separate cases against Yang. Yang admitted he purchased thallium in March 2018 and the chemistry major acknowledged he began giving it to his roommate, Juwan Royal. Royal testified in an earlier court hearing that he suffered weight loss, headaches and nausea. The roommate was diagnosed with heavy metal poisoning in April 2018. Yang faces between six to 20 years in state prison when he’s sentenced on Jan. 21. Yang is not a U.S. citizen and the judge told him he will likely face deportation. Yang’s student visa had been revoked after his arrest. |

Vincell Jackson, 52, died at hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The Chicago Police said that Dixon was arrested on November 27 at Holy Cross Hospital "after he went to be treated for a small laceration to his neck, and cuts to his finger". The Walmart stock worker had been identified as the person who allegedly stabbed the man "multiple times during an argument the same day in the 6800 block of S. Talman at about 3.15am," police say. The Chicago Tribune reports that the party's host had been concerned about Dixon digging his bare hands into the food. |

that shows Campbell backing up Johnson’s car to a Houston apartment
and loading the 28-year-old Southern Texas University grad’s body
into the trunk early Saturday. In a GoFundMe post, the victim’s aunt

Atmore police looking for suspect in shooting death of

The Atmore Police Department is searching for a 22-year-old man
accused of shooting another male last Friday afternoon. Police are
looking for Rodarious Dailey who is alleged to have shot and
killed a 17-year-old on Harris Street in Atmore on Nov. 27 around
4:30 p.m. Officials were called to the area and upon arrival, found the 17-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim’s name has not been released. According to police, he was then rushed to Atmore Community Hospital where he later died of his injuries. After interviewing witnesses to the incident, they learned that Dailey was seen shooting the 17-year-old while he was sitting in the back seat of a car. |

Transit Police are offering a $3,000 reward to help crack a cold
case to find a suspect who punched and knocked an older man
unconscious at Newark Penn Station earlier this year. The reward is offered to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect in the March 6 incident where the suspect turned and punched an older man in the face. The victim fell, lost consciousness and had cuts on his face and the back of his head from the attack, police said. The unprovoked attack was captured on surveillance video and occurred at 7:20 p.m. The suspect is described as a black male, 35-45 years old, wearing a black leather three-quarter length jacked, a yellow-green t-shirt, a black/white winter cap, dark pants with a graphic design on the left leg, and was carrying a black backpack at the time of the assault. (WCCO) — A 49-year-old Twin Cities pastor has been charged with
sexually assaulting a teenage girl. Brooklyn Park police say Robert McKenzie abused a 17-year-old girl inside a home earlier this month. According to court papers, McKenzie admitted to touching the victim inappropriately, saying he “had a perverted thought.” McKenzie is the co-founder of Word of Faith Ministries, which according to its website, holds services at a hotel in St. Louis Park. He faces two charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, and could serve up to 30 years in prison. |

man was extradited from Mexico over the weekend to stand trial for a
12-year-old Portland murder. Cristobal
Medrano-Alvarado, 33, was wanted in the killing of
35-year-old Abel Delgado-Morales, 35,
in November 2008. The fugitive was captured in Mexico last March
after the FBI obtained information about his whereabouts.
Prosecutors allege Medrano-Alvarado was one of two
men who broke into an apartment and shot Delgado Morales to
death. Prosecutors said at the time of the incident that the
two suspects and the victim worked together on a crew digging
ditches for a gutter company. The other suspect in the case, Jose
Carvajal-Mota, pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge
and after serving an 11-year sentence behind bars was deported
to Mexico. |

identified as Gerardo Jasso, 35, who was booked on a
charge of attempting to murder a police officer. It happened after
officers spotted Jasso with an open can of alcohol, police said. “A
handgun was recovered at the scene,” they said. Jasso was jailed
without bail. The neigbhorhood-funded public safety news outlet described Jasso as a reputed gang member who has several large gang-related tattoos on his face and neck. Jasso had another run-in with cops two years ago after being spotted urinating in public. |

Organizers of the so-called, “freedom rally,” said they decided to gather at Yonge-Dundas Square. It follows this week’s escalating events at an Etobicoke BBQ joint — in which the owner was arrested and charged for defying the region’s 28-day lockdown restrictions. Supporters of Adamson BBQ gathered outside the restaurant for three straight days before owner Adam Skelly was arrested and proceeded to protest outside Premier Doug Ford’s home in Etobicoke. A similar anti-lockdown protest was held at Queen’s Park on Thursday as well that was attended by Independent MPP Randy Hillier. Police ticketed Hillier for allegedly breaking health rules imposed to curb COVID-19. |

Samuel Little, the man the FBI has called the most prolific serial killer in the history of the United States, died Wednesday at age 80, a law enforcement source confirmed to "60 Minutes." The cause of death has not yet been determined.
Little, who in 2018 confessed to 93 murders over more than three decades, had been in jail since 2014 for the murders of three women he strangled.
He confessed to the other murders under questioning by Ranger James Holland – the story of those confessions was told by "60 Minutes" in October 2019.

A mother and son were arrested last week in connection with the death of a woman in West Odessa who officials say was intentionally struck with an SUV.
Humberto Polanco, 35 , was arrested and charged Dec. 21 following the death of 38-year-old Veronica Carrillo. Polanco allegedly swerved to hit Carrillo with his vehicle as she walked on West 16th Street, according to a press release from the Ector County Sheriff’s Office.
