veteran shot at Alamosa protest suffering traumatic brain
injury
 ALAMOSA,
Colo. (KRDO) -- A Canon City man remains in a Colorado Springs
hospital after Alamosa police say he was shot in the head while
driving on Main Street during a protest last Thursday.Danny Pruitt, 49, of Canon City was transported to UCHealth Memorial on Thursday evening. Authorities arrested Alamosa defense attorney James Marshall, 27, for the shooting. Marshall is out on bond for charges of attempted murder and assault. A GoFundMe set up by family members of the driver said Pruitt is a disabled veteran and single father. People have already donated over $100,000 to help with Pruitt's medical bills. Pruitt is in stable condition with a traumatic brain injury. Family members say doctors are working to reduce brain swelling. The GoFundMe indicates additional tests will be done this week. KRDO NewsChannel 13 obtained security camera footage, which has been provided to police, from a nearby business that captured the moments surrounding the shooting. The surveillance video time-stamped at 5:55 p.m. Thursday shows the incident in its entirety during a protest in downtown Alamosa. The video shows about a dozen protestors were lining Main Street with signs in hand. A black truck pulls up and as the driver goes through the crosswalk. That's when a protestor reaches in their pocket and pulls out what police say is a gun. The surveillance video shows the protestor aim the object at the passenger side window of the truck. Within 11 seconds of nearing the crosswalk, the truck comes to a halt in the middle of the intersection. Protestors immediately scatter and cars continue to drive around the stopped truck for about two and a half minutes. Video then shows the truck moving through the intersection. KRDO has attempted to reach Marshall numerous times but has not yet received a response. It appears Marshall disconnected the voicemail at his law firm in Alamosa. Attorney Randy Canney who is representing Marshall declined to comment on the case. The District Attorney's Office in Alamosa also declined to comment but said the next court appearance is June 15 at 9 am. |

LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A man has been charged with the murder of
retired St. Louis Police Captain
David Dorn five days after a handful of looters broke
into a pawn shop in north St. Louis and ended the night with a
tragic loss to the St. Louis community.24-year-old Stephan Cannon was charged with first-degree murder for the death of Dorn. The shooting happened at Lee's Pawn and Jewelry on June 2 after a night of looting and violent rioting in St. Louis. Police said Dorn was found shot multiple times. "[Dorn] was murdered by looters at a pawn shop. He was the type of brother that would’ve given his life to save them if he had to," the Ethical Society of Police of St. Louis wrote after the murder. "Violence is not the answer, whether it’s a citizen or officer." Cannon was also charged with robbery, burglary, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm. Cannon and other people can be seen on surveillance video leaving a Pontiac G6 just outside the pawn shop and then going in the store and grabbing several televisions. At some point, Cannon was the only one standing at a corner outside the store and then Dorn arrived. Police said video shows Cannon pointing the gun at Dorn and then Dorn is seen falling to the ground. |

Calvert County deputy sheriff.The suspect is identified as David H. Johnson, 48, who had been recently living in Prince Frederick, Md. He is charged on an arrest warrant this morning with first degree murder, second degree murder, home invasion, first and second degree assault, burglary and theft. Additional charges are pending. The Maryland State Police announced that they are investigating the apparent murder of a Calvert County woman who was found dead in her home this morning. Man arrested after series of carjackings while trying to flee
scene of girlfriend's murder

SPRINGS, Ga. - Sandy Springs police said they arrested a man
after he shot and killed his
girlfriend and then shot a driver during a series of
carjacking attempts while trying to flee from the scene.Fortune Jaquan Spencer, 25, of Lilesville, North Carolina, was charged with murder, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, motor vehicle hijacking, and aggravated assault. It started around 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hilton Perimeter Suites located at 6129 Peachtree-Dunwood Road. Police said officers were called out the scene after a report of shots being fired. Police said they found a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside a car. Sherika Monique Little, 24, of Wadesboro, North Carolina, was rushed to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. Spencer and Little were in a "relationship". Police said Spencer ran from the scene and tried to carjack a driver near the intersection of Peachtree-Dunwoody Road and Hammond Drive. Spencer shot the driver, who was later rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities confirmed. Spencer was not successful, so police said he tried again. He ended up crashing the car. A third carjacking attempt was thwarted when police said one of the vehicles traveling along Peachtree-Dunwoody Road struck Spencer. Todra Washington said she was pulling out of her apartment parking deck when it happened. Washington went on to say she let the man cross the street and he then came up to her with a gun. "I put both my hands up and I just looked down and I didn't want to see him. I put my car in park. I was like 'God, please don't let this guy shoot me". Washington said the man demanded her car. "I just said 'sir, you can have it. Everything is in there. You can have everything just let me get my baby out". Washington went on to say she was stunned to learn the events leading up to the carjacking and said she's thankful she and her granddaughter were able to make it out of it alive. "It just wasn't my day. And I am just so thankful to God for that," Washington said. |

for indecent exposure in North Myrtle Beach, according to police.Police responded to the 17th Ave. South beach access in North Myrtle Beach Sunday for a report of indecent exposure. Police report that a woman was in the parking lot around 8:15 a.m. when a black Cadillac 4-door sedan parked next to her car. The driver, later identified as Jeremy Clark, 21, of Longs, asked the woman for directions to the Wyndham hotel. The woman told Clark she was not from the area and went back to her car to get her phone, police said. The woman told police when she approached the passenger side door of the Cadillac, Clark exposed and began touching himself, according to the police report. He continued to touch himself as the woman tried talking to him so she walked away, police said. The woman was able to get the license plate of Clark’s vehicle, which police ran through SCDMV and found.... Officers responded to a similar incident where the vehicle and suspect description matched what was described in this case. Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and Clark was identified as the driver and the woman was able to identify him as the suspect. |

for a second person in a shooting death on Cobalt Drive last month.Clarksville Police announced on Monday that Amber Lynn Tanner, 24, of Hanceville, AL, has been charged in the homicide of Christopher Young, 42. Police said a criminal homicide warrant had been obtained for (negro) Eric Caffey, 25. He stands 6'3" and weighs around 235 pounds. He is believed to be in Alabama, but has ties in Clarksville. arrested a woman and her boyfriend for child abuse and child neglect
after they abused a 6-year-old child for at least four years,
in unincorporated St. Petersburg.Detectives began their investigation on May 14, 2020, when 26-year-old Samantha Smith was arrested for child abuse, after patrol deputies responded to a residence in unincorporated St. Petersburg and found multiple injuries on a 6-year-old child that was in the home. Detectives learned from the medical examination team that the child had multiple injuries and permanent scars on his body from being physically abused for at least four years. Detectives determined Smith and her (negro) boyfriend, 31-year-old Cody Corbin, would physically batter and abuse the child by biting his shoulders and toes, pinching his penis, beating him with objects, and would punch and kick him, causing multiple bruises, injuries and permanent scars. Smith would place makeup and temporary tattoos over the child’s injuries to conceal them, and never sought medical treatment for the child’s injuries. Detectives also stated Smith and Corbin would withhold food from the child as a form of punishment. On Friday, June 5, 2020, detectives arrested Smith and Corbin and transported them to the Pinellas County Jail without incident. |

being shot during a protest on the Las Vegas Strip, the latest in a
handful of attacks on police amid demonstrations across the country
over the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.The 29-year-old officer in Las Vegas was shot as police tried to disperse a large crowd of protesters in front of a casino shuttered because of the coronavirus. At about the same time and less than three miles (4.8 kilometers) away, police outside a federal courthouse shot a protester who was wearing a black tactical vest and armed with two handguns and a rifle. Police said the man was shot as he reached for a firearm. Upon arrival deputies and investigators discovered Bumpus deceased with a gunshot wound to his chest. Her reasons are very sweet. “Because I know what it feels like to lose someone special,” Tonya Olson wrote in the Facebook post, sharing her daughter’s words. “I lost my dad and uncle, so I want to do something for them.” So, Friday she put together a lemonade stand with other treats. It was a major success, Grand Forks Herald reported. Between the sale of lemonade and donations from local businesses, she raised $10,925. “I can’t thank everyone enough for their love and support,” Tonya Olson said. “I am so proud to live where we live right now.” This has been just one show of support for the police department and Holte in the wake of the officer’s death. Hundreds of law enforcement officers, military members, family, friends and community members gathered last week at a memorial service to remember Holte, who was also a first lieutenant in the North Dakota National Guard. Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Police Department said a suspect was
arrest for their involvement in burglaries and damage to property
cases throughout the city over three nights. According to sworn statements, Jeremiah Collins told police he was involved in crimes at the Casey's General Store, World of Power Sports, Kroger, Ray Eldridge Jewelry, Bob Brady Auto Mall and Thornton's. The crimes happened on May 31, June 1 and 2. DPD said on those nights they were called to multiple reports of crimes committed by large groups of people. On June 3, Collins turned himself into police to confess to his involvement with criminal acts at the locations listed above. Collins told DPD he stole a Dodge Ram Truck from the Bob Brady Auto Mall on June 1. The vehicle was later found by DPD that evening at the Price Right located at 1260 N Jasper Street. Officers reviewed surveillance video and witnesses a suspect in a "monkey mask" driving the vehicle. Photos were then used on the Criminal Investigations Unit Facebook page to help DPD identify the suspect on June 2. DPD said Collins admitted to stealing the car and breaking into the car dealership in the early morning hours of June 1. He also admitted to being the suspect wearing the monkey mask. Collins also admitted to being at the Thornton's gas station on Pershing Road while it was being broken into. Police arrested six others in this incident. Collins said he didn't take anything from the gas station. He also told police he was involved in breaking glass at the Kroger in Brettwood Village with shopping carts. Kroger shopping carts were also used to break into the Ray Eldgridge Jewelry store next door. Collins also admitted to helping break the windows at the jewelry store. However, police say nothing was taken from the store. DPD said Collins was also involved in causing damage to the Casey's General Store on Mound Road. Collins told police he was present for the burglary and began helping a subject spread lighter fluid. Collins said he was going to light a fire but decided not to. At World of Power Sports police responded to the location to find damage to the business. Collins told officers he drove the stolen truck through a gate and damaged a garage to the business. He said he did this because they wouldn't hire him. |

weekend by a FedEx big rig amid ongoing social unrest over the death
of George Floyd was released on Wednesday. Police identified the
victim as 29-year-old Barry Perkins III of the Glasgow
Village area of St. Louis. Transportation Nation Network (TNN) was
the first national media outlet to report on the gruesome and
chaotic events that occurred early Saturday morning, which
ultimately resulted in Perkins’s death. Multiple videos captured the
incident showing a group of people descending on the FedEx big rig
as it came to a stop on Broadway Street, after being rerouted from
Interstate 44 due to protestors blocking the roadway.
Looters and rioters can be seen pulling packages from the first of
the twin trailers and tossing them to other people in the crowd
and onto the ground.Additional footage of the incident also reveals rioters jumping on the tractor and pounding on both the driver and passenger windows. Multiple reports claim at least two guns were pointed at the driver from the passenger side of the truck as his trailer was being raided. According to police, Perkins became stuck on the converter dolly between the dual trailers. As the truck pulled away, authorities say Perkins was caught by one of the tires and pulled under the rig and dragged several blocks. He sustained fatal injuries. |

case murder that dates back more than 30 years. On Feb. 21, 1987, 41-year-old

had been beaten, sexually assaulted and set on fire by her
attacker. Johns was transported to the Maricopa County Hospital Burn
Unit, with third-degree burns

MO (KCTV) -- “I need help please!!!!” Investigators said that was one of the last text messages sent by a mother before a killer shot her inside her own bathroom. After her murder, someone took her baby to a Kansas City fire station. Her boyfriend is charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action for her death. Camry Alonzo’s family and friends said she didn’t deserve what happened to her. Police say her boyfriend came to East Patrol and set down the suspected murder weapon outside. Then, he went inside to confess to shooting her. Camry Alonzo, 22, will not be able to raise her son. Her family members say she got to spend just six short months with him before her death. “She was so ready to have that baby in her arms and hold him,” said Cathy Comstock, her mother. “She loved him so much,” said Megan Alonzo, her sister. Police said her boyfriend, 25-year-old Deon Sanders, told investigators he got home just before 6:00 a.m. on May 26th after drinking with friends and other women. He said he previously argued with Camry about who he was going out with. He told police that once, inside their Independence, MO apartment, he found the bathroom door locked and got “scared” because he didn’t know who was inside. So, he fired shots into the bathroom. Police said they found inconsistencies from what he said happened and evidence found at the crime scene. According to court records, Sanders eventually admitted to punching and kicking the locked door then shooting into the bathroom killing Camry. Sanders told police he took their baby to a family member’s house. Someone brought the child to a Kansas City fire station near 20th and Hardesty.
