Va. (WRIC) — Police in Hopewell have arrested and charged a
20-year-old with murder in connection with a recent shooting in the
city.The shooting occurred Sunday night in the 300 block of Ramsey Avenue. When officers arrived, they found 46-year-old Christopher Shawn Barron with life-threatening injuries. He later died at the scene. On Friday, police announced that 20-year-old Nathaniel Romeo Arrington, of Hopewell, was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task. He’s been charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Police did not release a possible motive in the shooting. - (Black-on-white) |

a Windsor woman and assaulting her pregnant daughter
more than two decades ago has now been charged with the first-degree
murder of his girlfriend in Center Line, MI.William Faulkner, 68, was arrested Jan. 9 after Center Line police discovered Juliette Peterson’s clothed body with stab wounds in the bathtub at the apartment they shared, according to Paul Myszenski, the municipality’s director of public safety. Tasha Porter told the Star Tuesday she still has a “soft spot” on her skull from where Faulkner smashed it against a coffee table after she found her unconscious mother, Sandra Porter, bleeding at the bottom of a staircase in their Windsor home in 1996. Sandra died in hospital the next day at age 45 having sustained two severe blows to the head, while Porter, then 19, remained in a coma for weeks and missed her mother’s funeral. Her unborn baby was unharmed. “I was in shock to see his face,” Porter, now 42, said of Faulkner. She learned Faulkner had been charged with murder again while watching an American news broadcast Monday night. “I’m still having a really hard time wrapping my head around it.” Following his arrest in May of 1996 and subsequent conviction for manslaughter and aggravated assault, Faulkner spent about four years of a 10-year sentence behind bars in Canada before being released on full parole and deported to the United States. That prison stay wasn’t long enough, Porter said, and she intends to testify for the prosecution in Faulkner’s recent case during a future hearing. “I need justice served,” Porter said. Faulkner had been in an off and on relationship with her mother Sandra “many years” before he killed her, Porter added. “I need some peace in my life. military veteran on a public bus on Dec. 13.Nathaniel Graves, 26, was arrested Saturday on charges of mayhem, battery resulting in substantial bodily harm and abuse of an old person with substantial bodily harm, according to a release from the Metropolitan Police Department. Surveillance footage from the bus showed the victim, a military veteran in his 60s, get punched in the face multiple times after confronting a man who put his feet across his lap, police said in a briefing on Jan. 8. N.C. (WNCN) — Fayetteville police are looking for an “armed and
dangerous” man wanted on multiple sex crime charges involving a
pre-teen child, according to a press release.Detectives are searching for 30-year-old Desmond D. Newton. He is charged with two counts of statutory sex offense by an adult, two counts of indecent liberties with a minor, and two counts of crimes against nature. Police said in the press release that Newton’s victim is a 10-year-old child and the crimes occurred sometime this month. The victim and Newton are known to one another, police said. Newton should be considered armed and dangerous and anyone with any information regarding where he might be is encouraged to call 911 immediately. Westchester man wanted for the sexual assault of a minor has been
extradited back to Fairfield County after being picked up by the
FBI. Leland Robinson, 31, of Mount Vernon, was arrested on
Monday, Jan. 6, on a warrant out of New Canaan for the alleged sexual
assault of a juvenile, said, Lt. Jason Ferraro of the
New Canaan Police.Robinson was first arrested by New Canaan Police in October of last year when officers responded to a home for a report of a suspicious man in a driveway. BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Two people have been arrested in connection with
an assault of a Baltimore City police officer. A viral video posted
to social media appeared to show an officer being assaulted while
checking on a business in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue on
Saturday. The sergeant was reportedly conducting a business
check on Pennsylvania Avenue when the suspect became argumentative
and spat in the officer’s face. He tried to arrest the
suspect, and several other people began kicking the officer.
At a news conference, Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison
and Mayor Jack Young spoke out against the assault, saying they’re
“absolutely outraged” and since then, other city and state leaders
have weighed in. “What we saw was appalling, it was unnecessary and

women were arrested after authorities say they tried to skip out on
their dinner tab at a Metairie restaurant, injuring one of the
employees during the getaway. The violent dine and dash occurred Wednesday evening at TGI Fridays, 3330 Veterans Memorial Blvd., said Capt. Jason Rivarde, spokesman for the department. Tiara Grant, 30, Nicole Carter, 33, and Angele Grant, 30, all of New Orleans, had a meal at the restaurant but walked out to the parking lot without paying their $79.50 check, according to the Sheriff's Office. An unidentified staffer followed the women outside and tried to take photo of the license plate on the trio's vehicle. Carter is accused of grabbing two knives from the front passenger side before confronting the staffer. Carter cut the staffer on the hand and chest before hopping into the vehicle, which sped off, Rivarde said. |

firefighter is accused of sexually abusing minors. The Chester
County District Attorney’s Office announced the arrest of
27-year-old Carlton Raye Bell Jr., a battalion chief at the
North Coventry Fire Department, on Sunday.Prosecutors say Bell began talking with a 14-year-old boy on a social media app in September 2019. According to prosecutors, he picked up the teen at his home in Caln Township and took him to his home in East Coventry Township, where he engaged in sexual acts with the teen. On Sept. 19, 2019, prosecutors say Bell created a group chat on Snapchat with the victim and two others who are believed to be minors. Prosecutors say he then picked up the three minors and brought them back to his house, where they allegedly engaged in sex acts. He’s facing multiple counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor among other charges. |

charged with sodomy and bestiality after a disturbing video was
shared with authorities. Investigators told WHNT News 19 the video

messages, and e-mail. Van Christopher Havis, 53, of Guntersville and Holly Renae Debord, 36 of Albertville, were arrested Thursday after investigators said they identified them and the victim. seeking help finding a black male adult who attacked and robbed an

The woman and the attacker were alone in the elevator, and the video shows that when the door opened, the suspect put the woman into a headlock as she tried to leave. Tenn. — A Memphis man was arrested after police say he tried to kill
a woman after raping her in Whitehaven.The victim told police she met Derrick Rice at a Citgo gas station on Winchester Saturday. The two began walking together and were eventually caught in the rain. She said they went into a nearby vacant apartment and the 44-year-old suspect began asking her for sex. She refused his advances and started to walk out when he grabbed her and forced her back into the apartments. That’s when he allegedly raped her. During the encounter, the woman told police that Rice was trying to get her to do other things which again she refused. That’s when he allegedly began beating her with a porcelain toilet top. The attack left her with two broken hands and a broken eye socket. She required 57 stitches to her face and head, police said. |

man killed in the Blaine Target parking lot Wednesday was run over
while trying to get back items that were stolen from his St. Paul
auto repair shop and being sold on Facebook Marketplace, according
to charges filed Friday against the alleged hit-and-run driver.Pierre Jerel Anderson, 30, of St. Paul, was charged in Anoka County District Court with second-degree murder (while committing a felony) and accused of running over Kenneth Alan Niesen, 58, of Brooklyn Park. Anderson was being held at Anoka County jail on Friday in lieu of $500,000 bail. On Wednesday morning, Niesen discovered that someone had broken into Bonded Transmission Specialists, a University Avenue family business that his father, Walt, started in 1983. Niesen reported the burglary to St. Paul police, telling an officer that the burglary happened either late Tuesday or early Wednesday and that several items were stolen. Later, Niesen learned a number of them were for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Niesen and others arranged to meet up with the “seller” at the Target parking lot in Blaine at 1500 109th Ave. N.E., according to the criminal complaint. Anderson County emergency dispatchers said the shooting was reported along the 100 block of Farmer Street around 4:45 p.m. Police say when EMS and officers arrived on scene, one person was dead and a second victim had to be transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Anderson County coroner Greg Shore identified the deceased teen as 17-year-old Christopher Dillion Patterson of Anderson. Shore said the shooting happened at Patterson's house during a confrontation, and has thus labeled Patterson's death as a homicide. Anton Jackson, 18, is charged in a shooting at Walmart on West
Broadway in Columbia.Columbia police confirm shots were fired at Walmart on West Broadway Friday. According to police, Jamie Anton Jackson, 18, was in a restricted area of the Walmart with a firearm and an extended magazine in his waistband. An employee apparently approached the man, and after a physical confrontation managed to get the magazine away from the Jackson. Jackson then fled to the front of the store and began shooting inside the front area of the store. No one was hurt. The suspect fled the scene at Walmart. Columbia police said a concerned citizen confirmed the suspect drove to a nearby hotel, where authorities arrested Jackson. According to online arrest records, Jackson was taken into custody by Columbia police at The Drury Inn, located at 1000 Knipp Street. -- A man has been charged with attempted murder in a December
shooting at a Chicago house party that left 13 people wounded,
Chicago police said Saturday. According to a police statement,
25-year-old Keilon Jones was arrested Thursday. He is also
charged with aggravated battery. It's not clear if Jones has an
attorney who could comment on the allegations. Jones was due in
court Saturday. Police didn't release any information about how
investigators identified Jones. Police have said the Dec. 22
shooting stemmed from a dispute at a memorial party being held in

began inside a house in the city's Englewood neighborhood and more

a dozen people in Georgia were arrested in human trafficking sting
at a hotel in Coweta County earlier this year according to 11 Alive.
Coweta County Sheriff’s Office said the department has worked with
the Human Exploitation Investigations Group in making the arrest.Of the people arrested several women were charged with prostitution and two men were charged with pimping and other charges according to the news station. COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man
for alleged child abuse.Just before 11:30 p.m. 10, police and EMS were dispatched to the 3600 block of West 13th street North in Wichita for a child not breathing, according to Captain Brent Allred. At the scene, they discovered a 9-month-old girl with critical injuries. EMS transported her to a local hospital where she remains hospitalized in very critical condition, according to Allred. Investigators learned the child received injuries while in the care of 25-year-old Breitan Radar at the home. That led to his arrest on requested charges of child abuse, child endangerment, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, cultivation of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on a $250,000 bond, according to online jail records. A 6-year-old boy and a 2-year-old boy found at the home were placed in police protective custody. Radar is the father of 6-year-old and not the father of the victim. During the investigation officers discovered a marijuana grow operation inside the apartment. |

young church members. Now Sarasota police say they’ve finally built
a case against him.The allegations of sexual assault and abuse against former Sarasota pastor Henry Lee Porter Sr. go back decades. There was an investigation in 1990, according to police, and again in 2001. But no charges were filed. Now Sarasota police say a victim recently came forward and is willing to prosecute the 72-year-old. That has helped investigators quickly uncover even more allegations against Porter. Porter, the founding pastor of the nondenominational Westcoast Center for Human Development, was first arrested on Jan. 2 on a charge of capital sexual battery of a child under 12, according to Sarasota police. News of the victim’s account and Porter’s arrest helped investigators find more victims. A second such charge was filed against Porter on Friday while he was being held without bail in the Sarasota County jail. And those are just the allegations that are being prosecuted. The latest investigation into Porter started in October and led to a total of 10 victims coming forward with matching stories of how the pastor sexually assaulted them from ages 11 to 19, police said. |

to clean the slate for the accused mastermind behind a young
father’s murder. Twenty-four-year-old
Joseph Angelo was found dead on his front porch with nearly
40 gunshot wounds to his body.After a hearing on Friday inside a Logan County courtroom, Angelo’s killer could be a free man in a few years. “We have no faith in the justice system there,” Michael Angelo said. So much so, the still grieving family picked up their lives in Guthrie and moved a thousand miles away. “Our system is a joke,” Angelo said. But Friday morning, Michael Angelo said he can’t escape the pain, learning Friday his brother’s alleged killer, Reggie Smith, will soon be free. “It’s all falling apart, all of it,” Angelo said. “There is absolutely no reason that this man should be having a plea deal.” In spring of 2017, Joseph Angelo, father of a one year old, was gunned down on his Guthrie front porch. Police say he was sprayed with nearly 40 bullets. According to court documents, a group was out for “revenge after someone tried to steal marijuana from Reggie Smith earlier that day.” A witness added, “Smith was extremely angry and he wanted to find the gangbangers.” Smith and three others eventually were caught and booked for murder. “The evidence can be right in front of them and they will make whatever decision they want to,” Angelo said. But it’s evidence a Logan County jury couldn’t prove in Smith’s trial, coming to a deadlock. So Friday, Smith made a deal with the judge: his murder charge would be wiped clean in exchange for a different charge, assault with a dangerous weapon. Smith also had to admit his part in the murder, first saying he drove the group to the home, but that he did not pull the trigger. Smith’s family did not want to go on camera, but two years ago, his mother spoke to News 4 maintaining her son was innocent. “I am not going to say my son is perfect, my children are perfect, because they ain’t,” Sheila Smith said. “But they did not kill that man.” The Angelos say they are baffled. “My family, I will say, is not going to be happy people when this is all said and done,” Angelo said. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's deputies announced the arrest
of a man they say is responsible a shooting death that followed some
kind of traffic incident.According to BSO, 21-year-old David McLean was identified as the man involved in a November traffic dispute that left another man shot to death. Investigators initially believed the man seen in the video, now identified as McLean, was the same person caught on security video driving a white, full-sized pickup truck fleeing northbound on Northeast Second Avenue after the incident, leaving Oakland Park Boulevard at 6:19 p.m. Nov. 17. Shortly after, a passerby saw Ian Curtis, 27, of Fort Lauderdale, lying in the roadway. Detectives believe that around 6:15 p.m., Curtis exited his white Mercedes-Benz before collapsing onto the street. The passerby administered CPR to Curtis until paramedics arrived. Rescue workers took Curtis to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. McLean was taken into custody late Tuesday morning, deputies said. - (Black-on-white) |

Calif. (KTXL) -- Police say a pantsless intruder entered a
Fairfield couple’s backyard last Wednesday and tried to get inside
the home through the doggy door.The Farrells have lived in the Sycamore Drive neighborhood for 20 years. They said they felt safe there until a prowler hopped over their fence and into their backyard. “(My wife) was very shaken up,” said 83-year-old Fred Farrell. Farrell said he was working in his garage when the intruder approached the house, where his caregiver and wife, who has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, were both inside. “He dropped his drawers and mooned her and was trying to get her outside,” Farrell explained. He said the man tried to force his way into their home through a sliding door. Then, he tried the dog door. Farrell said his wife immediately called 911 and help quickly came. Fairfield police officers chased the suspect through the neighborhood. When they caught him, they discovered he was a registered sex offender who had been wanted for violating his parole and had cut off his GPS ankle device. Police arrested the suspect, now identified as 48-year-old Leroy Vance, of Fairfield. The Farrells said they were just grateful he was back where he belongs. “I want him off the streets,” Farrell said. “He ought to be put in prison. I just wonder why he was let out of jail.” The couple and their helper plan to testify in court so the suspect stays behind bars and cannot harm anyone else. - (Black-on-white) |

Points Shotgun At Officers After Being Ordered To Turn Down His
Loud Music HOMESTEAD
(KDKA) — A Homestead man is facing a long list of charges after
police say he pointed a shotgun at an officer who was responding to
his apartment over a complaint about loud music. Police have charged
David Randolph with assault of a law enforcement officer,
terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and
disorderly conduct. The criminal complaint says officers told Randolph to keep his music turned down or he would be cited, then went over to speak with his neighbor. While interviewing the neighbor, police say Randolph came back out into the hallway, telling them, “I got something for you guys.” They told him to go back inside and to expect a citation by mail. Police say as the officers were walking away, music started blasting again from Randolph’s apartment. The criminal complaint says he then came back into the hallway a third time, “holding a black shotgun at his side.” The officers say he then raised it and pointed it at one of them. Police say they drew their guns and ordered Randolph to drop his own weapon, then backed into an elevator and called for backup. The Allegheny County SWAT Team arrived and Randolph was taken into custody. Police found the shotgun in his apartment. Randolph was taken to the West Homestead Police Station, and is now being held in the Allegheny County Jail. |

having a sexual relationship with one of his students.Jason Kavistan, 39, of Philadelphia, was arrested Tuesday and charged with institutional sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor. Kavistan was a teacher at Huntingdon Valley Christian Academy (HVCA). Police said the investigation began last February when the principal reported seeing Kavistan alone with one of his students, a teen girl, inside a locked room with the blinds closed. The girl told investigators her relationship with Kavistan began during the 2016-2017 school year when she was in 8th grade and that it continued until the summer of 2019. The two often met at Kavistan’s home while his wife and children were away, according to the criminal complaint. The teen also told investigators the two met “at school if we could find a place without cameras,” officials said. |

Chandler man was arrested Thursday after DNA evidence tied him to a
sexual assault case eight months ago.Michael W. Burks, 33, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman on May 3 inside her Chandler home near Queen Creek and Dobson roads, according to a probable cause statement submitted to the court. At the time, the woman, who was not identified because she is a victim, told police she was sexually assaulted about 1 a.m. after a man she didn't know entered her home, court documents said. During the assault, she bit him on his arm as she tried to get away, screamed for help and attempted to call the police, according to court documents. On the night of the sexual assault, Chandler police officers at the scene found a bottle cap near the woman's front door that matched the description of a bottle of brandy she said her attacker held when he knocked at her door. The bottle cap was processed for DNA evidence that later matched to Burks. |

police say he abducted the 11-year-old after she got off a school
bus.Charlotte Moccia was reported missing by State Police Wednesday after they said she was seen being forced into a car at around 1:30 p.m. after she was dropped off by the school bus in Springfield. Charlotte, a student at Hampden Charter School of Science in Chicopee, was still in her uniform when witnesses saw her screaming as the suspect forced her into a navy blue Honda Civic, police said. Nearly six hours later, at around 7:15 p.m., police received several calls reporting a car matching that description eastbound on the Massachusetts Turnpike, FOX25 reported. Police pulled the car over and found Charlotte in the back seat and 24-year-old Miguel Rodriguez behind the wheel. The girl was evaluated on the scene and didn’t appear injured. Rodriguez was taken into custody and is due in court Thursday. Rodriguez’s father told Masslive.com that his son has a history of mental illness, including schizophrenia and paranoia. “We knew that sooner or later he was going to do something of this nature,” Henry Rodriguez said, “but not something this crazy.” |

Man Charged With Murder After (white "ex-wife") Woman Found Dead
In Frederick County   FREDERICK,
Md. (WJZ) — Police believe a Virginia man being held on local
charges in that state is responsible for the death of a woman who
was found dead in Frederick on Saturday. Deputies from the Frederick
County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection of
English Muffin Court and English Muffin Way at around 2 a.m. for the
report of something lying in the
roadway. When police arrived, they found a woman with “obvious
signs of injury” and she was pronounced dead by EMS personnel.She was later identified as Kaitlin Nichole Roberts, 31, of Winchester, Virginia. Roberts was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. An arrest warrant for first-degree murder has been issued for Lamuel Lee Roberts, 31, also of Winchester. He is being held in Virginia on local charges, police said. The two have the same last name, but police have not said if or how they may be related to each other. - (Black-on-white) |

Allegheny County judge Monday sent a child rapist to prison
for six to 12 years.Willie James Porter III, 45, of Philadelphia pleaded guilty Monday to one count of rape of a child and two counts of corruption of minors. Allegheny County police said Porter raped one girl and sexually assaulted another while he was living in Harrison around 2014. Detectives launched their investigation in February after a relative of the girls came forward. At the time, the victims were 12 and 15; police said the crimes occurred when they were 8 and 11. In exchange for Porter’s guilty pleas, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office withdrew seven other charges. |
