Mo. — A Greenwood man has been charged in connection with the deadly
shooting of his girlfriend earlier this week. Deputies found
54-year-old Kimberly Renee Alcorn
dead inside her home after responding to a shooting Wednesday night.Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Baker announced Friday that 49-year-old Dana C. Jones has been charged with second degree murder, first degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action. According to court documents, Jackson County Sheriff deputies responded to a home on the 13000 block of South Harris Road just before 11 p.m. Wednesday on a possible shooting. When deputies arrived on scene they were notified by dispatch that the suspect was attempting to leave the house in a vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and a chase where the suspect then crashed into a tree. The driver was identified as Jones who was taken into custody. At the time of being placed into custody, he was reported to be naked. Inside the home, deputies discovered Alcorn’s body along with a pit bull that had also been shot. Witnesses in the home said Jones and the victim had been in a verbal argument. They became concerned about the victim and one resident who lived in the basement, went upstairs with the dog. Gunshots reportedly rang out. When a second person in the home went to check on the wounded dog, she also saw Jones with a gun and he reportedly fired shots at her. - (Black-on-white) |

ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Three people are dead and one man is in custody
after an overnight shooting. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office
is investigating a triple homicide in the 2000 block of Palmer Lane
off of South Harrell’s Ferry Road. The shooter has been identified
as Michael Lee Wade, 48. Officials say the victims were Wade’s ex-girlfriend, Crista Mae Sudduth, 35, her grandmother, Ruby White, 72, and Ivy Frank, 32, Sudduth’s current boyfriend. Ore. (KOIN) — A woman suffered a broken eye socket after a man
punched her in the face in Ankeny Alley in an attack that was caught
on camera. Video shows the suspect standing in the walkway before he
takes a swing and punches the woman repeatedly in the head.
“Next thing I know I feel a whallop and that’s it,” the woman told
KOIN 6 News. “I actually had an [out of] body experience I felt
myself hit the floor.”She said as friends rushed to her aid, she couldn’t see anything. The woman woke up with a fractured right eye socket. “I’m just thankful my community was there,” 44-year-old told KOIN 6 News. “I’m not dead, I’m alive. I have my eyesight. I’m just thankful.” The suspect, Daniel Bertrand, walked away that night but was later arrested. Bertrand was charged with 4th-degree assault — a misdemeanor. Jail records show he was released almost right away after being booked. The 25-year-old, who the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office said is homeless, has a lengthy rap sheet. Previous charges against him include trespassing, theft and numerous parking violations. She said she was riding her bike along 5th Street toward Catharine when she encountered a group of teenagers.One of the teens, she said, was carrying a plastic blue shovel. A neighbor recorded video through a window of the seconds after the assault occurred. "He stepped over, swung and hit me, and was standing a few feet away," Rachel said, describing the attack. In the video, the teen, with shovel in hand, was surrounded by other boys and girls. Rachel could be seen on the sidewalk standing with her bicycle. Several cars were seen driving by the scene. Rachel said one driver came to her defense, prompting a yelling match with the group. She said one of the girls in the group had something to tell her. "One of the girls, she did come up and ask me if I was hurt. Not in a nice way, but 'I hope you're hurt,'" Rachel said. Some residents who didn't want to go on camera said the group had been seen earlier walking in the area, yelling and hitting cars. They add this type of behavior is out of the ordinary for the neighborhood. Ajayi was seen walking outside the apartment complex walking toward a police SWAT team with his hands over his head. Officers then put him into handcuffs. A second man was also taken into custody at the complex. Police spent an active Wednesday evening and through the night collecting evidence from that house. Bags and bags of evidence were collected. Officers could be seen digging holes in the backyard. substance” while fleeing police in north suburban Waukegan is using
officers of using excessive force.Waukegan police said detectives went to a home on the 600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue around 3 p.m. Thursday to execute a search warrant for drugs. When they arrived, they saw 31-year-old Avion Cotton pull up in his truck and approach the house. Police said he was the subject of an active arrest warrant, and began running away when detectives approached him, but he fell down. Officers caught up to him and arrested him. While he was being placed into custody, Cotton allegedly began chewing on an “unknown white substance,” police said. He refused police commands to spit it out, and became “physically distressed.” Paramedics took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Pa. (CBS) — A suspect who wrestled away a police officer’s gun
outside the Linwood District Court in Delaware County on Friday
morning was shot and killed, the Delaware County district attorney
said. The shooting happened in the court’s parking lot on the 500

Attorney Kat Copeland said the incident happened after suspect
Darren Williams was arraigned. Following the hearing,
according to the DA, a Trainer police officer and a constable
returned to the cell to get Williams, who then immediately shoved
the door open and pushed past the officers. While in the parking lot, Williams took a swing at the Trainer police officer and ended up pushing him to the ground. Copeland said while they were on the ground, Williams was able to grab the officer’s gun. During the struggle, Copeland said Williams shot himself and then the constable also shot him. Williams was at court today after he was arrested Thursday night in Trainer for DUI and driving recklessly at a high rate of speed. Copeland said Williams was extremely combative during the arrest and there were multiple attempts to subdue him. The DA added that Williams stole his girlfriend’s vehicle and threatened to kill her. 20-year-old man.According to Sheriff Ernest Evans, on Friday at around 4 p.m. deputies were called to Highway 162 near the nine-mile marker, about 10 miles outside of Camden, on what was believed to be a fatal motorcycle crash. When ALEA investigators arrived on the scene, they found Pine Hill resident John Fletcher, known to friends as “Tim,” with a fatal gunshot wound, reportedly to the back. Evans said two people have now been charged with his murder. Evans identified the suspects as 18-year-old Maurice Powell and 17-year-old Marlon Mendenhall, both from the Pine Hill area. They have been charged with capital murder and are in the Wilcox County jail. Evans said another arrest may be forthcoming. According to court documents, Mendenhall was charged with assault earlier in June, and he was out on bond at the time of the murder. The mother of the victim spoke with WSFA 12 News by phone Monday. She said her son loved everyone and worked in Auburn as a heavy equipment operator. “He had friends from every walk of life. He lived life to the fullest doing things to make people laugh. He wanted people to be happy, so we think he was taking a little scenic ride on the way to a friend’s house,” said Cynthia Fletcher. Cynthia Fletcher said she has no reason to believe her son even knew the suspects. suspect in the fatal hit-and-run crash that killed
two cyclists on Saturday has been arrested, according
to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.Henry Haigler III, 37, of Jacksonville, contacted detectives Wednesday morning by phone and said he wanted to turn himself in, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The detectives met with Haigler in St. Augustine and took him to the county jail. He is charged with two counts of failing to stop and remain at the scene of a fatal wreck, and his bond was set at $50,000. Haigler is believed to be the driver of a car that struck two female cyclists Saturday morning on Race Track Road. Sheriff’s Office detectives and members of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office went to Haigler’s home just a few miles away from the crash in an attempt to serve the warrant Monday but didn’t find him. Occupants of the home said Haigler has not been home since the night of the crash, a news release said. Investigators did talk to Haigler on the phone following the crash, according to an arrest warrant, but he said he couldn’t meet with law enforcement due to a family function. A short time later, Haigler was seen by law enforcement sitting outside of his home. Investigators said Haigler told them being at his home was an “inconvenience” and said he needed to talk to his attorney. The car believed to be involved in the wreck, a 2016 Hyundai Azera with front end damage, was found in Haigler’s garage on Saturday night. According to the Sheriff’s Office, JSO officers found windshield damage and hair on the car. Citing the newly enacted Marcy’s Law, the Sheriff’s Office said it could not release the names of the two female cyclists who were killed near Durbin Park Pavilion. |

the victim who was an employee at the store.The employee told police that 54-year-old Patricia Aboh came into the store and requested a tube of lipstick. Aboh reportedly picked up a pair of scissors that were on the counter and threatened to kill the employees inside the store. The victim moved out of the way and called police. Several people in the store witnessed the incident and corroborated the victim's story. Aboh also reportedly left the store, took a rock and damaged one of the employees' vehicles. Officers saw Aboh while at another location across the street and went to confront her. While Aboh was taken into custody, officers say she began making threats to officers and began threatening to shoot and kill the employees in the store as well as the officers on the scene. She also reportedly became very defiant and hostile toward officers. |

a foot chase with the two suspects and gave instructions to the

An investigation by Canadian officials revealed Sandoval Garcia’s true name and wanted status in Oregon. Sandoval Garcia was arrested by Canadian officials and was held in custody pending a contested extradition hearing, which was scheduled in May. For unknown reasons, Sandoval Garcia abandoned his contested extradition hearing in Canada and agreed to be extradited to Oregon, according to Canadian officials. Sandoval Garcia has a court hearing in Deschutes County Circuit Court later this month. |

birthday party turned into a crime scene.Fresno Police say that Marcos Echartea sought refuge inside the home, after shooting out a car window and hitting baby Fayth Percy in the head. "It should shock the conscience of every person in Fresno to know that we have a 10-month-old baby lying in the hospital fighting for her life," said police chief Jerry Dyer. Fayth's parents, Deziree Menagh and Bennie Percy have been by the child's side, tearfully hoping and praying for a miraculous recovery. Dyer says a gun was found and is now undergoing ballistic testing to determine if it was the one used in the shooting. Investigators spent more than 12 hours with the area roped off, questioning witnesses. Investigators say the suspect made unwanted advances toward the baby's mother, Deziree, and never looked back after pulling the trigger. "In fact, when our detectives brought him downtown, he had no remorse," Dyer said. "He had just shot a 10-month-old baby and didn't even seem to care or it didn't phase him." Dyer said Echartea is also responsible for a second shooting that occured on May 27 on east Rialto Avenue. He said Echartea fired several shots into an occupied home. SPRINGS, Ark. - A woman is dead and a man is in jail after a weekend
shooting.It happened on Saturday, according to a news release issued Monday by the Hot Springs Police Department (HSPD). The victim has been identified as Stephanie Malicoat, 40. Police say the suspect is Lavar Strickland, 42. Both are of Hot Springs. The HSPD says the scene of the shooting was 315 North Patterson St., where officers found Mailcoat's body inside a home. At that time, Strickland was charged with Criminal Use of a Prohibited Weapon and Possession of a Defaced Firearm. On Monday, charges of Murder 2nd Degree and 3 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor (Felony) were added. He is being held on $600,000 bond at the Garland County Detention Center. - (Black-on-white) |

charges filed against store clerk in fatal shooting at OP Boost
Mobile store KANSAS
CITY, Mo. — No charges will be filed against a store clerk after a
fatal shooting this month at a Boost Mobile store in Overland Park,
Kansas. Police were called to the phone store at 76th Street and
Metcalf Avenue on June 10. The Johnson County, Kansas, prosecutor
said Deshawn L. Brim, of Raytown, attempted to rob the store. He
was armed with a gun.Authorities said that the store clerk, fearing for his life and the life of his coworker, pulled a gun. Brim was killed as he tried to jump over the counter, police said. "We have determined that this was a valid exercise of self-defense under Kansas law. No charges will be filed in connection with this shooting," the prosecutor said in a news release. |

Duane and Dwight Samuels, both 61 and of Detroit, have been
charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felon in
possession of firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and felony
firearm. According to police, the Samuels brothers went into the coney island at 15447 W. Seven Mile Road and started to argue with other customers in the restaurant. The brothers, one of them armed with a metal pipe and the other with a gun, then attacked a 40-year-old man after they were told the restaurant didn't sell fried mushrooms. |

14-year-old and choking her unconscious last
month. BOISE, Idaho — A Boise man accused of raping a 14-year-old and inappropriately touching a 13-year-old denied the charges at his arraignment Wednesday morning. Corey Demetrious Wright, 48, is charged with four counts of lewd conduct with a child, two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, and two counts of aggravated assault. Court filings indicate all the assaults happened between May 4 and May 26. According to prosecutors, Wright had moved in with the victims' mother May 4. The first night he was there, the prosecutor said, he sexually assaulted the 14-year-old victim. The next day, Wright choked the same girl unconscious and raped her. The teen reported that she regained consciousness to find the suspect having sex with her. Wright also held a knife to the 14-year-old's throat on May 25, according to an indictment filed in the case. The suspect is accused of groping and sexually touching the 13-year-old girl over the same three-week period. |

her stepfather and her own daughter after midnight on
Monday, police in Florida said.Port St. Lucie police say Alyssa Marie Torres shot and killed Felix Rivera, 54, and her young daughter at the Waterleaf Townhomes Apartments. Torres also attacked her mother Marisol Rivera, 53, who suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. Police said Torres' daughter was 8-year-old; family members told CNN affiliate WPTV that the girl was 7. Torres then fled the scene, and she was located and arrested without incident in nearby Fort Pierce at 10:30 a.m. after a manhunt, police said. |
