(CNN)The shooter who opened fire indiscriminately in a Virginia
Beach city building Friday afternoon,
killing 12 people and sending at least four others to the
hospital, was a disgruntled employee, a Virginia
government source briefed on the investigation told CNN. The
shooter, a public utilities worker, died after a long, moving
gunfight with officers, Police Chief James Cervera told reporters.
Four people were in surgery Friday night, the chief said. Hospital
officials said three people are in critical condition and one is in
fair condition."This is the most devastating day in the history of Virginia Beach," said Mayor Bobby Dyer. "The people involved are our friends, coworkers, neighbor, colleagues." The shooting suspect was identified as DeWayne Craddock, according to a law enforcement official and a Virginia government source. Craddock, 40, worked as a certified professional engineer for the city of Virginia Beach in the Public Utilities Department. He is listed on department news releases as a point of contact for information on local road projects over the past several years. Del. -- A Delaware woman is sharing her agonizing story of a
vacation attack.Tammy Lawrence-Daley says she was brutally attacked at the Majestic Elegance all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana in January. She went to get a snack at the bustling resort when she heard footsteps. "He just plowed into my back and I remember the grunt he made when he hit me. It's in my nightmares," she says. The attacker pummeled the mother of two for hours. She could feel the bones in her face cave, her teeth break. "He at that point began choking me strangling me," said Lawrence-Daley. The mother of two went in and out of consciousness. She says the assailant then dragged her limp body into a dark crawl space inside the five-star resort. It was pitch black. "All I could think of is my husband is going to find me dead with my head bashed in," she said. Lawrence-Daley suffered a broken orbital, broken hand, nerve damage and other injuries. She has had a half dozen surgeries and procedures since the attack. |

judge denied bond Friday for an 18-year-old accused of concealing
the death of a Johns Creek teenager whose body was found near a
Roswell swimming pool, police said.Elijah Foster was arrested Thursday in connection with the death of 17-year-old Mercedes Chico-Sims, Roswell police spokesman Lt. Noah Caplan said. Foster lives in the complex where Chico-Sims was found Wednesday morning, jail records show. He is also charged with statutory rape in an unrelated case, according to police. Caplan said there were “obvious signs of trauma,” but police have not released a cause or manner of death in the case. Chico-Sims, a Centennial High School student, sneaked out of her home, which was only a half-mile from where her body was discovered. RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — A 70-year-old man was arrested last week after
he admitted to impregnating a 13-year-old
girl, Boca Raton police said.Last Friday, the teen arrived at North Broward Medical Center in Pompano Beach, complaining about being constipated, according to police. But a medical exam revealed that she was actually 14 weeks pregnant. Hospital staff then contacted authorities. The teen told police that 70-year-old Renaud Jerome would touch her inappropriately and have sex with her inside the Boca Raton home they lived in together, according to an arrest report. The relationship between Jerome and the teen was redacted from the report. But Jerome, who was at the hospital with the teen, said he helps care for the teen, police said. He also said they had consensual sex several times over the last couple months and that he never forced her to do anything. Jerome admitted that he was the father of the unborn child. |

Sunday for allegedly trafficking women
between the ages of 14 and 23, police reported
Thursday.The 14-year-old victim reported the allegations to police through a crisis text hotline and said she was being held against her will for prostitution. Police responded to a Motel 6 at 2560 Fontaine Road at 7:42 p.m. and located the girl. An investigation discovered that she had been reported running away from Flint, Michigan to Chicago on Sept. 1, 2018. There, she was kidnapped and taken to Gary, Indiana, and then to several cities in California, where she was forced into prostitution. Christopher Johnson, 39 of Sacramento, and Antoine Williams, 43 of Merrillville, Indiana, were arrested and booked into Santa Clara County jail for alleged felony human trafficking, pimping and pandering and kidnapping. Curtis Russell, 59 of Natomas, was booked on suspicion of human trafficking and pimping and pandering. |

23-year-old New Jersey woman was arrested Thursday morning after
allegedly stabbing a man she met online during their first in-person
date. Zaniya P. Stevens faces charges of aggravated assault,
unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an
unlawful purpose, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose
announced.According to Ambrose, police were called to a residence in the North Ward of the city at about 2 a.m. Stevens allegedly flagged the police down and told them she stabbed the man in self defense. Additionally, Stevens claimed she was strangled, although they found no evidence of any neck abrasions, according to Ambrose. The victim, who ended up with non-life threatening injuries after being stabbed three times during the altercation, told police he and Stevens met on social media and had several exchanges before he invited her to his apartment, Ambrose said. |

retired police officer thwarted an armed robbery at a Turkey Hill
gas station in Coatesville when he shot the suspect multiple times.
The incident happened just before midnight on Tuesday.According to the DA’s Office, the retired officer was waiting to pick up a friend at the gas station, when the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Lawrence Galloway, entered the store and pointed a gun at the two employees’ heads, threatening to shoot them. He then demanded money and took money out of the cash register. The retired officer noticed what was happening in the store and engaged with Galloway, shooting him multiple times in the lower portion of his body. Witnesses credited the retired officer with saving their lives. |

on suspicion of indecent exposure, the second time in four days he

Wednesday at 9:45 p.m., someone called 911 to say a man was standing at the intersection of University Avenue and Bryant Street with his pants down at his ankles. The caller reported that the man “was openly masturbating in a busy and populated public area,” police said in a press release. Officers went to the intersection and arrested 36-year-old Reginald Tyrone Barnett of Oakland on suspicion of indecent exposure, a misdemeanor, and booked him into the Santa Clara County Main Jail. Palo Alto police said their officers also arrested Barnett on Sunday on suspicion of attempted sexual battery. In that case, a woman in her 20s reported to police that she was walking north on Waverley Street near Lytton Avenue when a man “ran toward her and bent down telling her he wanted to kiss her buttocks.” Barnett chased the woman and made a second attempt to kiss her, but she got away unharmed, police said. |

Wednesday after he was found locked in the trunk of a car, a report
said. Leon Cyheime Parks, 25, was discovered in a 2016 Dodge
Challenger by an employee at an auto auction in Lancaster
County, Pa., according to Lancaster Online.“I opened the trunk to take a trunk picture, and there was a guy in there,” the employee, Darren Leeds, said. Leeds added that he quickly went to get Parks water because he “wasn’t moving a whole lot.” The auction yard is about 90 miles west of Philadelphia. Parks is wanted on drugs and weapons charges, according to public records. He was reportedly uncooperative and identified by his fingerprints. drugs when authorities raided his home as part of a larger
investigation, police said. Nicholas Banks, 26, who works at

died at an Indiana hospital last week was restrained in a motel

punishment prior to his death, according to authorities. Eduardo Posso was pronounced dead early Friday morning at Bloomington Hospital, where Monroe County Sheriff Brad Swain said the boy had been taken, unresponsive, by his father and stepmother. Doctors at the hospital found signs of long-term abuse and starvation in the boy, Swain said. Luis Eduardo Posso Jr., 33, and Dayana Sarahid Medina Flores, 25, are charged with multiple counts of felony child neglect, according to Swain. Posso is also charged with domestic battery and both he and his wife are charged with confinement. |

details released in weekend murder of a White man by evil black

Iowa — KTVO is now learning more about a weekend death investigation
in southeast Iowa. On Tuesday, the Ottumwa Police Department
released new details surrounding the death of Thomas
Carlton Foster, 41, of Ottumwa.Just before 3 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a residence on Queen Anne Ave. for the report of a suspicious death. Earlier the same day, just before noon, a suspicious person was reported to police in the area of Foster’s residence. After Foster was found dead, authorities started looking for the suspicious person. Just before 3:30 p.m., Preston Odell Martin, who matched the suspicious person description, was located near the south end of the Jefferson Street Bridge. Potential evidence in the death of Foster was found on Martin’s person and he was detained. Authorities then obtained a search warrant to further search Martin’s person and the residence on Queen Anne. The additional investigation resulted in Martin’s arrest just after 10 p.m. Saturday. Martin has been charged with Murder in the 1st Degree, a Class "A" Felony. - (Black-on-white) |

R.I. (WLNE) – A Woonsocket man has been charged with murder after
the victim in a January shooting died months after the incident.Woonsocket Police said that 26-year-old Claude Holland was arrested by North Smithfield Police on Saturday and was charged with the murder of Christopher Archambault. Police said Archambault was shot in the back in the area of Elbow and East School Streets on the evening of January 13, 2019. The shooting left Archambault paralyzed below the waist. Archambault died on May 16, and Woonsocket Police said an autopsy revealed the cause of death to be complications from the shooting. Detectives who had investigated the shooting since January identified Holland as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest on Friday. Holland was picked up by North Smithfield Police on Saturday. They said that Holland was a suspect early on in the investigation, and after Archambault's death, witnesses began to cooperate with investigators. Chief Thomas Oates III said that the charge was originally felony assault, but since Archambault died, it became a murder investigation. "His death was related to that gunshot wound which in fact makes it a homicide," Oates said. Chief Oates added that Archambault and Holland had a history together in the drug business, but declined to comment on whether that was a motive for the shooting. "This was a situation where the two involved in this knew each other and had some type of dealings with each other," he said. Holland has a history with the department. In January, before the shooting, Holland was arrest on weapons charges, and he was also arrested recently for disorderly conduct. - (Black-on-white) |

say a man fleeing arrest in a sexual assault case struck and killed
a female pedestrian in Philadelphia.Police say 36-year-old Raheem Geathers was spotted in a vehicle on a north Philadelphia street at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. Police say he recognized an approaching police sergeant and drove onto the sidewalk in an attempt to flee, hitting a parked car and the 63-year-old woman, who died on the way to the hospital. Her name hasn't yet been released. Police say Geathers fled on foot but was apprehended. He faces involuntary manslaughter and vehicular homicide charges as well as rape and other counts in the July 2018 assault case. |

woman during massage appointment

ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man was arrested Thursday after he
was accused of sexually assaulting a woman during a massage
appointment, according to jail book records WAFB obtained.Roderick DeWayne Birks, 36, was charged with sexual battery and sexual conduct during a massage. His arrest warrant states a 45-year-old woman contacted the Baton Rouge Police Department on April 9 about an incident involving Birks. The woman said that on March 29 at around 8 p.m., she was sexually assaulted by a male massage therapist, identified as Birks, during a massage appointment at Massage Emporium in downtown Baton Rouge. Near the end of the massage, Birks removed the sheet from the woman’s body and sexually assaulted her, his arrest warrant said. Later that night, the woman was given to a sexual assault examination at the Woman’s Hospital, which confirmed male DNA was present. Investigators later learned Birks was using a forged license from the State of Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy. According to The Advocate, Birks was arrested Thursday during a brief standoff with police. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish prison. |

singer R. Kelly. They include four counts of aggravated

counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against an alleged victim
between the ages of 13 and 16. If convicted of the
aggravated criminal sexual assault charges, Kelly faces six to 30

(KDKA) — Police say they have charged a man accused of beating up
and shoving another man onto the tracks at the Wood Street T Station
“because he was white.”Willie Hayes is facing a number of charges in the alleged incident, including ethnic intimidation, attempted homicide and aggravated assault. He was “conscious but very disoriented.” The criminal complaint reports two witness told police officers that “Basarab was assaulted and then thrown onto the trolley tracks by an unknown black male” who then ran off. According to the criminal complaint, the witnesses said after the alleged assault, Hayes allegedly walked over to the edge of the platform, looked down and said, “I [expletive] told you I was going to kill you.” Police say surveillance video from the T station shows the suspect punching Basarab three times, and then shoving him and throwing him onto the tracks. Houston Uber driver picked up a passenger from the Houston Zoo, and
was shocked to learn the passenger was carrying a turtle in the back
of his car. According to court documents, passenger Jaden
Andel was in a hurry to enter the Uber he called after a visit
to the zoo. The Uber driver told investigators that once leaving the
zoo, Andel boasted about how excited he was to have "liberated" a
turtle from captivity. Court documents say he
smuggled the turtle out in a purse, and then held the
reptile up for the Uber driver to see. During the ride, Andel
allegedly called his roommate and told him how he took the turtle
from the exhibit. Court documents state Andel told his roommate he
wanted to fill up his bathtub and keep the turtle in the tub. The
Uber driver reported the theft to the Houston Zoo, who officially
reported the turtle missing on March 8. Court documents state Andel's
roommate told apartment management that he had gotten rid of the

homicide of Brent King.Battle Creek police are now seeking Randale Benjamin, 33, of Springfield, on charges of open murder, assault with intent to murder, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Benjamin is the suspect in the shooting death of King, 42, who died after being shot several times at 4:01 a.m. Monday. King was walking on Capital Avenue Northeast after hearing a friend had been involved in a shooting earlier. Investigators believe that King had a verbal confrontation with a (white) woman, Brittany Nash, 29, of Battle Creek, while she was walking her dog. Police said Benjamin, the (white) woman's BLACK ex-convict boyfriend, approached King, had a few words and then shot him with a handgun. A second man with King was shot in the shoulder but survived. King was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo where he died. Detective Sgt. Todd Elliott said Benjamin is considered armed and dangerous and anyone who sees him is asked to call 911. He is six-foot-two and 230 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes. He sometimes uses an alias of Randale Reed. Nash is five-foot-six and 125 pounds with long straight brown hair and brown eyes. Benjamin and Nash are believed to be together. Nash is wanted for questioning. The shooting of King followed a shooting involving King's friend, Jason Conley, 42, of Battle Creek. Police said someone shot at Conley's truck at 3:21 a.m. in the first block of Poplar Street. Conley then struck the shooter and another man with the truck. Justin Schaarsmith, 38, of Battle Creek faces a charge of assault with intent to murder and several weapons charges. Police said he fled after being hit by the truck but was found a short time later a few blocks away. James Ellis Collins, 18, was booked into the Chatham County

around 2:40 p.m. May 26, a black male approached a woman in the

allegedly attacked and robbed a 21-year-old woman on Tuesday night.
Police say the victim was walking home when Hawkes attacked her near
Wingate and Shirley Roads, around 10:30 p.m.The victim was carrying a knife for self-protection but police say Hawkes disarmed her and stabbed her on the right arm. Hawkes fled the area with the woman’s purse, umbrella and other belongings, police said. Hawkes was later found at Mercy Hospital in Philadelphia. He claimed he had been bitten by a dog but police say he suffered a stab wound when he disarmed the victim. Police say Hawkes eventually admitted to robbing the woman. Streeter was stopped by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Canadian border on Monday. He had a warrant for his arrest in connection to the assault. The brutal beating left several cracks in Spurgeon’s skull. She lost her sense of smell and she lost sight from her right eye. Her baby survived and is now almost 7 months old. “He's definitely the miracle baby,” said Spurgeon’s ex-husband Bruce McGuire in an interview with KGW on May 9. “Whoever did this tried to kill him and also my ex-wife.” McGuire said Streeter is the baby’s father and he disappeared 3 weeks after the attack. COUNTY, S.C. — A Greenville County convenience store clerk who is
five months pregnant was violently beaten and robbed at gunpoint.
The store clerk, Logan Adair,
spoke about surveillance video of the whole ordeal that was
posted to Facebook. "I just prayed the whole time, 'Please just let
me get out of here alive. I want to see my kids again... Don't let
them kill me. Don't let them shoot me,'" she said. The armed
robbery was reported Monday just after midnight at the V-Stop at
5916 Augusta Road, according to Greenville County Sheriff's Lt. Ryan
Flood.When deputies arrived, they learned that Adair had been physically assaulted and forced at gunpoint by two armed men, who entered the store demanding cash, Flood said. After stealing money from the registers, the men left the store on foot, according to Flood. Deputies used K-9 officers to track the men, but the dogs were unsuccessful, according to Flood. Both of the men were reported as being black, according to Flood. One of the men is described as being about 6 feet tall with a slim build, wearing a red hoodie with jeans and a white face covering. The second man is described as more than 6 feet tall with a slim build, wearing a dark color hoodie with dark pants and a dark face covering. Adair was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. She said she doing paperwork behind the counter when the robbery began. She said the two men demanded she open the safe and got physical with her when she told them that she had no access to the safe. Adair's face still shows a mark above her eye on her forehead where she was struck. After Adair told the men she was pregnant, she said one of the men kicked her in the stomach. "They told me that they didn't care, they just wanted the money," Adair said. Along with the cash out of the register, the men took her phone and her wallet, Adair said. She used an app to track her phone down to a street a couple blocks away from the store. She said they took the cash that was in her wallet, but left her phone, credit cards and license. "I also have two girls at home, a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old ...so it's not just me-I have a family," she said. "The whole time I was just thinking I was never going to see my kids or my boyfriend, again. And I was scared they were going to hurt the baby inside of me. It was just really scary," she said. Cox was taken into custody at around 2 a.m., on Tuesday, and was charged with one count of rape and one count of abduction. He was then turned over to the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office. Cox has been with the police department for just over a year. According to Sharon Cox, Cleshaun’s mom, he is also a preacher at Word Cathedral Worship Center. Police say no additional information is being released about the case as it is an ongoing investigation that is sensitive in nature. |

Man charged with rape of woman walking in Glen Burnie, police
say GLEN
BURNIE, Md. — A man is charged with second-degree rape after police
said he sexually assaulted a woman who was walking in Glen Burnie. A
judge ordered Kevin France Jr., 29, held with no bond
Tuesday during a bail review hearing. Police said the alleged
incident happened Sunday on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, near the
district courthouse. Police said officers responded Sunday to the
7400 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard for a reported sex
offense. A 22-year-old woman told police she was walking on
Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard near Crain Highway at around 11:15
a.m., when a man she did not know began speaking to her. The man
talked her into walking to a more secluded area, where he removed
her clothing and sexually assaulted her, the woman said.
Police said the woman pushed the man off her and the man left the
area on foot."She was able to break away from the individual, fight him off and get away and call police." Hours later, police found France about a block away and arrested him. The court document indicates when investigators questioned France he admitted touching the victim inappropriately. |

Police arrested him several blocks away in the doorway of a restaurant. They also found a bloody knife. Wood said Pierson was heavily intoxicated. Wood asked for a high bond for Pierson, citing his criminal history which began with a voluntary manslaughter conviction in 1975. |

"I mean she wasn’t showing any remorse at the time, every once in a while you’d see her lift her glasses and act like she was trying to wipe a tear or something." Harris was sentenced to a maximum of 65 months in prison. But her public defender said she will probably only serve 6 months because of time-served in juvenile detention. The Brown family says it's not enough. D'Angelo Matthews and Christopher Shakel Williams are the other two involved, both charged with Murder. Fleischman, 19, and girlfriend Jessica Kuhn, 23, were
executed in cold blood as they waited on a motorway bridge for a
family friend to bring them a can of diesel to get them going. Two
employees sitting in the back of the car with the couple were
brutally beaten by the killers but spared death and have described
the horrific double murder to shocked police in detail.It is understood the attackers walked past the car and murmured a racial insult at Fleischman before opening fire. The two witnesses told cops the Toyota Hilux had run out of diesel on the N12 West near Benoni some 20 miles east of Johannesburg and butcher Johanco had called a friend for help. As they waited for rescue they said three men walked past the car and then walked back hissing the word 'umhulungu' at Johanco - a derogatory phrase for a white man. One of the men then pulled a revolver without warning and fired at least nine bullets, hitting Johanco several times in the body. As he slumped into the road the gunman leaned into the cab and killed Jessica with a single shot to the head, before they stealing her mobile phone. Then in an attempt to cover their tracks they set fire to the inside of the Toyota with a lighter. Jessica was slumped dead in the passenger seat, Johanco on the road, and the two badly beaten workers had fled for their lives. A passing motorist saw the truck on fire and used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames and then saw the bodies. He called the emergency services who were quickly at the scene. The attack happened in broad daylight at 11am and police and medical services were quickly there but the couple were declared dead at the scene. neighborhood. The day ended with one dead and another charged with
murder.Horry police responded to Greenleaf Drive around 5:20 p.m. for the reported shooting. Inside the home was Charles Lawrence, 57, dead from gunshot wounds. The suspect, Taylor Ryan Strode, was outside with a gun and didn’t immediately surrender to police. he was punching people at random. Charles Richard Hayes, 35,
from Charleston was arrested Friday night and charged with malicious

and Summers Street.One man who was punched was treated for severe bleeding around his mouth and may have a broken jaw, police add. This is not Hayes' first run in with police for punching people. immigration laws in a five-day crackdown. Nearly all of those picked up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement between May 19 and 23 had stayed in the U.S. after being ordered to leave or were deported and made their way back in the country, according to authorities. The foreigners were citizens of 13 countries, including China, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, India and Ukraine. Twenty-six were convicted criminals, including convictions of attempted assault, promotion of prostitution, bank fraud and DWI, or had pending criminal charges, authorities said. “ICE officers conduct targeted enforcement actions daily, and like in this initiative, we arrest criminal aliens who are public safety threats in the communities,” Thomas R. Decker, field office director for ERO New York, said in a statement. |
