remains in ICU, family says Suspect, 2 officers also hospitalized after chase ends in violent crash    JACKSONVILLE,
Fla. - An 84-year-old man kidnapped from his home Wednesday by a
robbery suspect fleeing police remained in the intensive care unit
Thursday after the chaotic crime spree ended in a violent crash that
left him badly injured.Family members identified the kidnapping victim as Louis Reese, and police later confirmed that information. The police chase, which began in Mayport and ended in East Arlington, also left two Jacksonville police officers with serious injuries. Reese was taken to Memorial Hospital and was on a ventilator Thursday, but was acknowledging his doctors with hand signals, the family said. They said he is fighting hard, but all of his ribs were broken and he has a broken leg, broken arm, broken spine, collapsed lung and a punctured lung. He underwent surgery Thursday. Several residents told News4Jax that Reese is helpful and friendly -- their nicest neighbor, always saying hello and trying to help people. His pastor said Reese, a Navy veteran, has attended Oak Harbor Baptist Church for 48 years and is a deacon. The ("NWORD") suspect, later identified by police as Lawrence Hall III, 26, was also hospitalized Wednesday after the crash, which ended a wild crime spree that began just after 2 p.m. when Hall robbed the Lucky Charms Arcade, an internet cafe on Mayport Road, police said. Police said Hall ran out of the business with a backpack full of money and was tracked by officers from multiple agencies to a residential neighborhood a few blocks away. Reese's neighbor said that his wife and daughter were watching TV in the living room Wednesday when they saw Hall in their yard. The neighbor said Hall opened their screen door and was nearly in the house when the homeowner ran screaming at him and scared him off. He said they saw Hall jump the fence to enter Reece's backyard. Another neighbor said Hall got into Reese's home because it was a nice day and Reese had his back screen door open. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Officer Josh Wiggins, 35, was hit by the stolen SUV while deploying stop sticks at Mayport Road and Wonderwood Drive, a few blocks north of the robbery scene. Minutes later, Officer Christopher Rouselle, 29, was injured at Kernan and Atlantic Boulevards when his cruiser was struck as he tried to stop the stolen SUV, which reached speeds of 100 mph, police said. - (Black-on-white) |

Driver charged with murder, 5th OVI for crash that killed 4
people held in Ashtabula jail on $1 million bond  CLEVELAND,
OH (WOIO) - The 48-year-old man accused of driving drunk and causing
a crash that killed four people was arraigned in Ashtabula County
Court of Common Pleas on Thursday afternoon. Donte Conard faces a total of 11 charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide, possession of cocaine, and OVI. A 22-month-old boy, his parents, and a 47-year-old woman died during the Oct. 19 crash just before midnight near the intersection of West 58th Street and Adams Avenue. Crash investigators from the Ohio State Highway Patrol say Conard ran a stop sign at speeds in excess of 75 miles per hour. If convicted, this would be Conard’s fifth OVI conviction. The Ashtabula County judge set Conard’s bond at $1 million. - (Black-on-white) |

Three

Neb. (WOWT) -- Three people have been arrested in connection with
the March 2018 murder of Michael
Streich. Police say Dominique Hanks, 24, is
accused of First Degree murder. Sisters Brittany and Brianna
Kelley, both 22, are accused of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.
In addition, there is an active felony warrant for Brandon
Shepherd, 23, for First Degree Murder in this case. He is
currently in custody in another state. Extradition is pending. The
incident happened on March 12. Officers were called to 33rd and
Laurel at 3:21 a.m. to investigate a shooting. They found Streich,
40, and Adam Nathan,

Grandfather Dies After Being Assaulted in Jack in the Box
Parking Lot (by primitive black beast)  Homicide
detectives were investigating after an assailant fatally struck a
grandfather in the parking lot of a Jack in the Box in Lancaster
Thursday afternoon. Deputies responded to the fast-food chain's
location around 12:45 p.m. The incident began with a champagne-colored, four-door sedan pulling into the parking area. A man got out of the car and confronted the victim, according to Hoglund. A brief altercation ensued, during which the aggressor apparently assaulted the victim. The lieutenant said he was not aware of any weapons being used. The suspect vehicle then fled the scene. Responding deputies found the victim on the ground suffering from "obvious trauma," a Sheriff's Department news release states. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities described the victim as a white man in his early 60s. The suspect is a black man, Hoglund said. Family members identified the victim as 60-year-old Frank Borsotti, a grandfather of six. But surveillance footage obtained by KTLA that was captured from a neighboring business shows the suspect car pull up as the lieutenant described, then stall behind a vehicle the victim is standing near. After a brief exchange of words, the assailant swiftly punches the suspect, knocking him flat on the ground. The attacker then gets back in the car, which flees the scene. He did not appear to be driving the sedan. In video from the scene, a pool of blood could be seen near the rear tire of a Nissan Frontier pickup, with a set of keys discarded on the ground nearby. - (Black-on-white) |

lawsuit: Third child allegedly sexually assaulted by (black

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A lawsuit states that a former Charleston
County School District specialist who worked with high-risk children
sexually assaulted and threatened at least three children and had
over 12,000 images of pornography and child pornography on his
district-issued laptop.According to attorneys representing the victims, the school district and law enforcement should have known that Marvin Gethers was a threat to children at the elementary school he was employed. Gethers died in 2017, according to the lawsuit it was in part due to complications of HIV. According the lawsuit, pornography was found on Gethers’ laptop in 2014. He remained at the school until 2016. That’s when attorneys believe he assaulted three children. “During those 23 months, he sodomized physically assaulted and sexually assaulted at least three young boys,” says Victim’s attorney, Mark Peper. Parents and one of those three boys allegedly assaulted by Marvin Gethers are now suing the agencies who they say should have protected them. |

He then forcibly took the victim to a secluded area, where he made her perform a sex act on him and raped her for hours, police said. Persaud threatened to kill the woman if she did not submit to his sick demands, according to sources. Following the attack, emergency responders rushed the victim to an area hospital for evaluation. Police believe the victim, who sources say remains “terrified,” and her attacker did not know each other. |

N.C. — A man was arrested after a string of indecent exposures in
Mebane, police report.Police responded to calls on Dec. 29 at Quality Choice Cleaners, Dec. 31 at the Corden place Apartments and Jan. 1 at Waffle House. People reported the indecent exposures in different areas near Mebane Oaks Road. Each report provided the same suspect description. Christopher Brian Cates, 32, of Durham, was arrested and charged for all three incidents. Police say he was in town staying with an acquaintance. He was placed in Alamance County Jail under a $30,000 secured bond. |

someone attacked 16-year-old Marcus
Bailey with his own metal bat after playing baseball at Waite

faith and focusing on her son's recovery. That's something she says
she wouldn't be able to do without the outpouring support from the
community, friends, and even total strangers.Since the attack Bailey has been in coma and unresponsive. He's undergone three surgeries. "Whisper in his ear tell, him I love him...tell him I'm proud of him, tell him to keep fighting every day," said his mother, Shelly. "My child will have huge, huge deficits if he makes it at all," she added. This week Shelly allowed doctors to insert a tracheostomy and feeding tube. It was not an easy decision. "I want to save his life. I do not want to prolong his death," said Shelly. Police arrested 18-year-old Terry Pearson and charged him with felonious assault. the victim with a taser before the sexual assault. He's
also accused of raping a woman on Christmas Eve. Marks was
ordered to have no contact with the victims. Marks was
previously convicted of the rape of a juvenile. That verdict
was overturned twice and was then turned into an assault case. Marks
was sentenced but was paroled after a year. “He is a
danger to our community clearly. He was released on parole in
August and now we have two new rape victims in Mobile County,” said
the Assistant District Attorney. Marks will have a hearing to
determine whether he violated the terms of his parole. |

Man arrested in fatal Covington shooting of White woman  COVINGTON,
Ky. — A man has been arrested in a northern Kentucky murder and
there could be more arrests in the case. A woman was shot to death
in Covington on Sunday morning. Kenton County Commonwealth's
Attorney Rob Sanders said the man arrested was a getaway driver in
the shooting, but his lips were sealed on whether more warrants have
been filed. It was a shooting that played out after businesses at
the corner of Main and West Pike streets were closed in Covington.
Police said just after 2:30 a.m., Natasha
Henderson, 35, was found shot to death and her body
was lying on the ground.WLWT confirmed David Vaughn Jr., 24, has been arrested in the case. Sanders said Vaughn was the getaway driver of the car where gunshots originated. He said Vaughn was complicit to the murder. Online court records show Vaughn has been booked in jail on a murder charge. The prosecutor wouldn’t comment on whether more warrants have been filed in the case, but said more arrests are possible. A manager at the nearby Marathon gas station said the situation was caught on camera, with a car pulling up, a woman getting out of a car, and gunshots flying. Police at Travick’s preliminary hearing Sept. 28 said Dawson’s wife told them her husband had come inside after doing yard work that morning and sat down to have a cup of coffee, while she folded sheets in a laundry room off their carport. When she came back inside, she found a big man with a “crazy look” on his face standing in her kitchen, she told detectives. “What are you doing in my house?” she asked him. “You need to go!” He hit her, and she fell. When she came to, she went through the house looking for her husband, and couldn’t find him, police said. When officers arresting Travick outside the house heard he had come from the Dawson’s home, one walked over to investigate. At a side door, he saw a bloody, broken paring knife. Calling out to anyone inside, he went in and found Dawson dead on the living room floor, stab wounds to his torso and left ear. Hearing a woman call from the rear of the house, the officer discovered Dawson’s wife in a bedroom, apparently in shock: She had a concussion, a black eye and swelling where Travick hit her, police said. was struck by a stray bullet in October as he commuted home from his

workforce.Police chief Peter Newsham announced that 22-year-old Barry Marable of Northeast is charged with first degree murder. Police believe he was trying to shoot someone else. Roger "Tom" Marmet, 22, was driving along the 1200 block of 17th Street, NE around 6 p.m. October 24. A ShotSpotter detected the sound of gunfire and generated a police dispatch. According to a DC Police report, first responders located Marmet unconscious in his Jeep Liberty. Officers placed him on the ground and began issuing emergency medical treatment. other, police say  LAKELAND,
FL (WFLA) - Police have arrested a Lakeland man after officers say
they found his dogs so malnourished that they
were eating one another. Lakeland police say Genar Smith, 54, was in possession of five pit-bulls that were "deprived of sustenance" after officers responded to an animal complaint at his home on 12th Street West. The officer who responded to Smith's home says he found two dogs chained to the ground, three in a medium-sized cage, and one in a large cage. One of the dogs in the medium cage was dead, the officer said, with most of its neck and skull eaten by the other two dogs. The dogs were "considerably malnourished" with their rib cages and hip bones clearly visible due to starvation. One of the dogs found alive in the medium cage also had part of its tail bitten off. The officer also observed no food or water in any of the bowls. There was no overhead cover to protect the animals from the elements, the officer noted. |

Officers responded to Methodist South Hospital where a woman said

and security asked the man to leave. Police reviewed surveillance

Junction City man was arrested on a murder charge related to a
shooting that occurred on Christmas morning. At about 9:30
a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, officers were sent to 948 Grant Ave. No. 154
in reference to a deceased female, according to Junction City Police
Capt. Trish Giordano. Officers located the body of Jenna
Schafer, 31, of Junction City, who officers believe died from
a gunshot wound, Giordano said. Detectives and officers worked
