		(black racist) Suspect aimed to kill at least 10 white churchgoers NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A prosecutor said Monday that a black man charged with fatally shooting a woman and wounding seven people at a Nashville church aimed to kill at least 10 white churchgoers and cited a 2015 massacre at a black church in South Carolina. Nashville Deputy District Attorney Amy Hunter made the comments during opening statements in the trial of Emanuel Kidega Samson, 27. Prosecutors have said they're seeking life without parole for Samson, who faces a 43-count indictment, including a first-degree murder charge, in the September 2017 shooting at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ. Members of the church packed the courtroom, at times becoming emotional when attorneys and witnesses recounted a Sunday filled with chaos, tragedy and heroism. The shooting rampage killed 38-year-old Melanie L. Crow of Smyrna, Tennessee. She was shot in the church parking lot, and dropped her Bible and notes from a recently concluded worship ceremony that had just concluded, Hunter said. Samson, who used to attend the church, is black and the victims are white. Hunter explained that a note in Samson's car cited white supremacist Dylann Roof's massacre at a black church in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2015. It also referenced the red, black and green Pan-African flag, sometimes called RBG. "Dylann Roof is less than nothing," the note read, Hunter said. "The blood that 10 of your kind will shed is that of the color upon the RBG flag in terms of vengeance." The note included an expletive and ended with a smiley face, Hunter said. "This state will prove beyond all reasonable doubt that on Sept. 24, 2017, this defendant, Emanuel Kidega Samson, went to the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ with the intent to murder a minimum of 10 white churchgoers on that day," Hunter said. "You won't have to take the state's word for it though." Hunter also said the calamity revealed a "true life hero." Churchgoer Robert Caleb Engle has testified that during the rampage, he twice confronted the gunman, who was wearing a tactical vest and a motorcycle-style mask with a clown smile on it. Engle said he was pistol-whipped three times in the head. At one point, he pushed the gun back on the shooter and a shot fired, striking the gunman and sending him to the ground. Engle said his father kicked the gun away, stood on the shooter's hand and told Engle to go get his gun out of his truck. Engle came back with his weapon, put his foot on the shooter's back and stood guard until first responders arrived. 		R.I.P. Melanie Crow Smith Melanie Crow Smith is the 39 year old woman that was killed on Sunday during a shooting spree at a church. Melanie was a resident of Smyrna, Tennessee. Melanie was a single mother of two children, a girl and a young boy. According to reports, Melanie’s children said Melanie loved cooking, scary movies and her faith. In an interview, Melanie’s daughter told the reporter that she usually goes to church with her mother, but on Sunday she attended a different church.

		(black) Man charged with murder in deadly stabbing of (White) Tampa bus driver TAMPA, Fla. — A man charged for resisting arrest following the deadly stabbing of a HART bus driver now is accused of murder. Justin Ryan McGriff, 35, was placed in police custody because he fit the description given to officers after the stabbing, Tampa police said. He was charged with first-degree murder Sunday. McGriff, believed to be a passenger on the HART bus, is accused of stabbing the driver just after 4 p.m. Saturday near Nebraska Avenue and Locust Street. The suspect ran off the bus and toward Interstate 275, where police found him based on a witness' description. - (Black-on-white)

Michael said his brother had been driving for HART for about 3 years.

		(black) Suspect in custody after (black) woman found in Detroit dumpster DETROIT (FOX 2) - Police have arrested James Quill Cockerham in connection to the case where a 27-year-old woman was found in a Detroit dumpster.  Officails (sic) said Cockerham was arrested in the 8000 block of Stoepel on Saturday afternoon. The Detroit woman who was killed and left in an apartment's dumpster on Wednesday was Elizabeth Candice Nichole Laird, who was studying to be a nurse before she was brutally murdered. Last Wednesday, police were called to Parkview Towers and Square apartment building on reports of blood in the elevator. They discovered the body of Laird, known by friends and family as Candice, in a dumpster located near the 1600 Block of Robert Bradby Drive. Family friend Michael Hines said she was an all-American girl who was sweet and full of hope and life.

		(black) Miami man accused of stabbing girlfriend at motel MIAMI - A Miami man was arrested Thursday after police said he stabbed his girlfriend at a motel. The attack was recorded on the motel's surveillance camera. John Horton, 51, faces charges of attempted murder and battery.  Police were called to the Seven Seas Motel around noon Thursday when the woman was stabbed multiple times in the lobby. Paramedics rushed the woman to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.  The woman told police she tried to wake up Horton for a job interview and he grew angry, punching her in the face. The  woman went to the lobby to make a payment when Horton followed and stabbed her in the back.  Police said Horton then fled back to his motel room. He was later found and arrested.

		7 Wounded In Shooting Near Ball State University Campus; (black) VaShaun Harnett Charged With Attempted Murder (CBS/AP) — Seven people have been wounded in a shooting near the campus of Ball State University in central Indiana. Police say 19-year-old VaShaun Harnett, of Muncie, has been arrested in connection to the shooting, and is charged with two counts of attempted murder. He is being held at the Delaware County Jail without bond. Police said the shooting happened shortly after 1 a.m. at a house party just west of campus. Muncie Police Chief Joe Winkle said three people were in critical condition. Some of the victims are Ball State students, but the extent of their injuries is not known.

Investigators said Michael Love, 45, kidnapped and raped seven Memphis women and tried to do the same with an eighth. Love was arrested in 2015 after pretending to help a woman who ran out of gas. Investigators said Love saw the woman pushing her car and offered help. However, instead of helping, he drove her to a dead end street, pulled her out of the car and attempted to take her clothes off and rape her, according to the police report. Two years later, Love was indicted by a federal grand jury after DNA from a sexual assault kit linked him to other kidnappings and sexual assaults. Prosecutors said between 2008 and 2015, Love--a Horn Lake resident--traveled to Memphis to find or meet a woman, hold her against her will, rape her, and leave her in a deserted part of the city. Each victim testified she was raped before being forced out of Love's car without her purse, wallet or cell phone.

According to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Linda Lyn Monette, 23, who was in the home at the time of the crime, is charged with murder, attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, burglary and armed robbery, according to arrest warrants. Monette was previously charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and obstruction of justice in connection with the incident. Reynerio Rafael Romero Jr., 24, is charged with being an accessory to murder before the fact and criminal conspiracy, according to warrants. “Over the course of our investigation, we’ve gathered information indicating Monette actively conspired with Romero to plan and carry out the armed robbery in the 100 block of Cedar Vale Drive,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The plan was for someone to burglarize the home and take several pounds of marijuana, which was known to be in the residence.” Mason Hanahan, 8, was in the home and was shot. He later died at the hospital. Romero and Monette are both being held in the Lexington County Detention Center, according to Koon. Both appeared in court on the new charges on Saturday and their bond was denied. They will both appear in general sessions court on June 27 at 9 a.m. - (Black-on-white)

		(Black) Carnegie Homicide Suspect Arrested While Taking Out Dog SCOTT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — Police have arrested the suspect wanted in a double stabbing incident that left one man dead in Carnegie over the weekend. Police say Richard “Stretch” Mickens Jr., 58, was taken into custody early Wednesday morning at a home on Spikenard Street in Scott Township.According to investigators, police surrounded a home there after getting a tip that Mickens had threatened a person inside with a knife and then fell asleep. Two people inside the home managed to get out safely. “The CERT team was notified because the actor in the house, he was known to have knives on him at the time,” said Det. Dennis Lawrence, of Carnegie Police. “She was being held at knifepoint. She was able to get out of the house and notify police.” Scott Township Police officers then took Mickens into custody when he came out of a back door to let the dog out. “The house was surrounded at the time and he was letting a small dog out the back porch and that’s when he encountered the officers and was taken into custody,” said Det. Lawrence. He was taken to Allegheny County Police headquarters for questioning. Police say Mickens was wanted in the stabbing and strangulation of 51-year-old Luke Connolly at a home on Third Avenue early Sunday. Connolly was found dead at the scene with three stab wounds to the chest. “That’s my understanding, that they knew each other in some capacity prior to the event,” said Insp. Andrew Schurman, Allegheny County Police Department, of the relationship between Mickens and Connolly. “So we’re not sure exactly right now what precipitated the assault.” They also believe Mickens stabbed a woman who showed up at the home. She was also allegedly raped. However, she was able to escape to a neighbor’s home and then taken to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition. - (Black-on-white)

Brenda Lee Keller, 57, of Boston, was found Thursday at the corner of Hiawatha and Fottler roads in Mattapan. Police are asking the public to help them identify what they called "a vehicle of interest" in connection with Keller's death. At the time of the incident, police said a motor vehicle was seen traveling on Hiawatha Road in the direction of Blue Hill Avenue. The vehicle was described by police as a black sedan with windows that appeared to be tinted. Police said the driver is described as a black female with a heavy build and long hair wearing a white shirt and black pants. The victim’s daughter, Chandra Anderson, spoke about how she received the news of her mother’s death after getting a knock on her door late Friday from police. “And they informed me that my mother passed, and it was a car accident,” Anderson said. (WALB) - A man and woman are facing a number of sex and battery offenses against a 3-year-old victim, according to the Albany Police Department (APD). Gregory Parker was charged with aggravated child molestation, rape, aggravated sodomy, aggravated battery, battery and first degree cruelty to children. Crystal Brooks, 19, was also arrested and charged with aggravated battery, battery, first degree cruelty to children and giving a false statement. The victim is on a ventilator at an Atlanta hospital. An investigation found the victim had been severely beaten and sexually assaulted, according to APD. The victim had injuries to her genital area, ribs, swollen hands and unknown trauma to her head, APD said. On May 13, the police were called to the victim’s home to an unknown problem. The victim was unresponsive and taken to the hospital, according to APD.

Police reviewed Hopper’s cellphone and discovered text messages between her and a person identified as "bubs" who said he was responsible for the damage to her car. “You [expletive] near owe me a whole new car you smashed the hood up busted the frame and everything,” Hopper texted “bubs,” who was later identified as Burch, according to a criminal complaint. (black) Man, 25, linked by DNA to attempted rape of woman, 78, investigators say A Lauderdale Lakes man is accused of breaking down an elderly woman’s bedroom door and trying to rape her, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said. The woman, 78, lived in the 2000 block of Northwest 39th Way in Lauderdale Lakes. On Dec. 26 she saw a stranger in her home and after locking her bedroom door, began to pray. After getting into the bedroom, Jarvis Wyndell Petty, 25, of Lauderdale Lakes, chased the woman into the living room. He choked and licked her as he tried to pull off her underwear, according to an arrest warrant.  Deputies took the woman to a rape treatment center and evidence was swabbed from her body in places where Petty had placed his mouth.

(black) Man suspected in rape of 12 (WHITE) women and girls arrested in South Carolina, sheriff's office says A man suspected of raping 12 women and girls over an eight-year period in South Carolina has been arrested, the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said. Gregory Howard Frye of Spartanburg was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count of burglary, first-degree kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct in connection with one of the assaults, but additional charges were pending, the sheriff's office said in a statement. The victims, who ranged in age from 14 to 51, were assaulted between 1995 and 2003 in apartment buildings in the early-morning hours, the statement said. One victim was targeted twice. The attacks occurred between 1995 and 2003 and investigators said the suspect targeted one of the women twice, according to the Spartanburg Police Department. Carlos Wilson, 44, was convicted on Wednesday for rape and aggravated burglary after witnesses said he broke into an apartment on Jan. 29, 2010, along the 2600 block of Amy Lane. Wilson raped a 21-year-old mother while she was in bed with her son, according to authorities. Wilson threatened to kill her and the baby if she told police and stole a digital camera as he left. This conviction comes after Wilson was previously sentenced for aggravated sexual battery and aggravated sexual exploitation of a child, involving his girlfriend's daughter over a two-year period starting when the girl was 11.

Neaman, of Bluffton, was found dead behind the New Church of Christ on Spanish Wells Road on March 15, 1988.  After her autopsy, medical experts concluded Neaman was shot to death.  Pathologists’ final autopsy report also said, “Neaman’s sexual assault examination showed that sexual activity had occurred in proximity to her death.” - (Black-on-white)

(WTVD) -- Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell announced an arrest Tuesday in a murder cold case that had gone unsolved for 46 years. Larry Joe Scott, 65, was arrested Monday in Florida and has been charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping in the 1972 death of Bonnie Neighbors, Bizzell said. North Carolina investigators have spoken with Scott, who was living on the streets in Bradenton, Florida, at time of his arrest, but won't reveal what he's told them.  On Dec. 14, 1972, Neighbors,33, disappeared while on her way to pick up her 7-year-old son from school. She took her other son, not quite 4 months old with her.   After a search that took several days, her body was found bound and with gunshot wounds in a migrant worker housing unit near Benson. BLACK Convict Arrested in 1980 Cold Case Rape, Killing of 81-Year-Old Oxnard Woman A man convicted of sexually assaulting several women was arrested Thursday in the 1980 cold case rape and killing of an 81-year-old woman in Oxnard, police said. The victim, Leah Sarah Bullis, was found severely beaten inside her home almost 40 years ago and was pronounced dead in the ambulance while she was being transported to a hospital, the Oxnard Police Department said. Investigators collected evidence and determined that she died of blunt force trauma, but the killing remained a cold case until in December 2018, authorities ran DNA collected from her autopsy and it matched a convicted offender identified as 58-year-old Lenard Len Chester, Oxnard Police said. Chester had previously been sentenced to 44 years in prison for breaking into homes and sexually assaulting four different women, according to police. He was listed as a "sexually violent predator" and placed on civil hold while he received treatment at a state hospital after he was paroled, authorities said. Ryan's daughter left to run an errand, and returned home less than two hours later to find her mother's car missing, the door open, and her mother dead inside. Police said Ryan was found dead on her kitchen floor. She had been stabbed multiple times. (black) Man charged in 1996 cold case murder of Crista Bramlitt in Clarksville CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) —  DNA evidence from 23 years ago led Clarksville police to make an arrest in the 1996 murder of 23-year-old Crista Bramlitt. Kenneth Hudspeth, 48, was charged with criminal homicide in the death of Bramlitt, who died of suffocation. On the afternoon of October 28, 1996, Clarksville police responded to Sunnydale Mobile Home Park on Peachers Mill Road and found Bramlitt, who was dead inside a home.  There were obvious signs that she had been murdered and it appeared she had been sexually assaulted, investigators said.
