DNA Links (black) Suspect to 1999 Rape of Teen; Police Seeking Maryland Man Prince George's County Police are asking the public for help finding a man wanted for the 1999 rape of a teenage girl after a DNA hit linked the suspect to the crime more than 17 years later. Police identified the suspect as Richard Cedric Taylor, 44. On June 6, 1999, a 15-year-old girl was socializing with friends, as well as Taylor, whom she didn't know, police said. Taylor offered to give the girl a ride home, but instead he stopped at an empty apartment on Cindy Lane in Capitol Heights, where he assaulted and raped the girl in the apartment, police said. The case went unsolved for nearly two decades -- but on Sept. 8, police said, a DNA hit linked Taylor to the crime. Detectives got a warrant for his arrest, but haven't been able to find him. |

Daily News' 'America's Rapist' cover cited in Cosby court docs Bill Cosby says he's a victim of the New York Daily News. In new court documents filed Friday the comedian cites The News’ "America's Rapist" front-page as a top reason his upcoming criminal trial should either be moved out of suburban Philadelphia or draw its jury from a "larger market." "On Monday July 27, 2015, the cover of the New York Daily News featured a large color photograph of Bill Cosby, accompanied by two simple words in giant, bold face type: America's Rapist," the new filing says. |

Black Serial Killer Probe Opened After 3rd NJ Body Found: Sources Authorities believe the 20-year-old New Jersey man accused of killing a college student and another woman in the last few months may be linked to a third slaying, and investigators are actively looking at him as a possible serial killer, law enforcement sources familiar with the probe say. The sources say Khalil Wheeler-Weaver is being investigated in the death of a missing 19-year-old Philadelphia escort whose burned body was discovered in an abandoned building in Orange, New Jersey. Though she has not been publicly identified, she was living at the Garden State Motel in Union Township when she disappeared, the sources say. She vanished in September. On Tuesday, Wheeler-Weaver pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the death of 33-year-old Joanne Brown, who was last seen Oct. 22 in Orange and whose body was found in a vacant house in Newark on Dec. 5. |

Black gangster accused of killing infamous Orthodox Jewish landlord says they were pals One of the men accused of killing Brooklyn landlord Menachem “Max” Stark told cops that he was actually the slain businessman’s good buddy — and that he put a tracking device on the victim’s car to help him out. “Max is a friend of mine,” Erskin Felix told investigators a few months after the 2014 murder. Felix — who was indicted Wednesday on charges of second-degree murder and kidnapping for his alleged role in the slaying — claimed that rather than wanting Stark dead, he actually tried to protect him from people who wanted to do him harm. “Max had approached me in the summer and told me he was afraid someone was after him and wanted me to look out for him,” Felix said. Stark disappeared from his Williamsburg office in the middle of a blizzard in January 2014. His burnt body was found in a Long Island Dumpster the next day. |

Judge orders 20-year-old Omaha man accused in road-rage killing to appear in district court A judge on Friday ordered a 20-year-old Omaha man accused of killing a man in a road-rage incident to appear in district court. Darwin Johnson, 20, of Omaha, has been charged with first-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony in connection with the death of Cristian Pastrana-Marin, 32. Police said Pastrana-Marin was shot Oct. 26 while in a car at 30th and Chicago Streets. Authorities say Johnson and Pastrana-Marin did not know each other. The witness told police he noticed a gray Mazda 3 stop behind him and a black male get out “and start looking back.” As the light turned green, the witness told police, he heard “approximately five shots” and saw the man get back into the Mazda. The Mazda passed the witness’s vehicle while both were headed south toward Dodge Street. The witness then obtained the car’s license plate number. Both vehicles turned west on Dodge Street, and the witness saw what he described as a white woman driving and a black male in the passenger seat, Dye said. The witness called 911 about a possible shooting and gave a dispatcher the license plate number of the Mazda. Pastrana-Marin was taken to the nearby Creighton University Medical Center after the shooting and placed on life support. He died Nov. 2. The driver of the Mazda, Page Green, 18, of Council Bluffs, has been charged in the case with being an accessory to a felony and tampering with physical evidence. |

(Black) Uncle and nephew are hunted by police after they filmed themselves injuring a cat by pouring boiling water on it Police in Mississippi are hunting two men who they say poured scalding hot liquid on a cat trapped in a cage and filmed the horrific spectacle. The video was posted on Snapchat earlier this month and Karmen Coleman, 23, turned herself in on Friday and removed the clip after being warned she faced charges of rendering criminal assistance. But police in Moss Point have now issued arrest warrants for 43-year-old Larry Rostchild Jr and his nephew Laderrick, 24, after charging them in their absence with aggravated cruelty to an animal. Commander Stacey Deans said the cat was later found dead. |
