Lynn, 65, is the first U.S. church supervisor ever arrested over his role in the alleged cover-up of priest sexual abuse. A Philadelphia jury found in 2012 that he endangered an altar boy by sending a known pedophile priest to the boy's parish in the late 1990s. The priest was at the top of a list of known or suspected predators that Lynn prepared while he was secretary for clergy at the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, a post he held from 1992 to 2004. |

Judge moves forward on murder charges in 2008 homicide, rape (of White woman by black man) Angie Lechlitner was raped then strangled, in her home in 2008, and detectives Wednesday said DNA and fingerprints link a 27-year-old North Carolina man to the crimes. Based on that evidence, Norfolk General District Judge S. Clark Daugherty certified a second-degree murder charge against Michael Ryan Brown on Wednesday afternoon during a preliminary hearing, sending the case to a grand jury. Brown was charged with murder in September and extradited from Goldsboro, N.C., to Norfolk two months later. His arrest came nearly eight years after one of Lechlitner’s co-workers found her body inside her Fox Hall house in the 2400 block of Shafer Street. An electric cord was tied in a double knot, tightly around Lechlitner’s neck, investigators testified Wednesday. Her hands were bound with electrical tape. She was stabbed in the back, a wound that nicked her lung. An autopsy revealed Lechlitner, a 28-year-old nursery technician at the Norfolk Botanical Garden at the time, had been raped several times before she died. Detectives testified that they homed in on Brown early in their investigation after learning Lechlitner had given him rides to work. - (Black-on-white) |

(White) Man, 64, Beaten to Death (by blacks) with Frying Pan at Birthday Party COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A 64-year-old West Ridge man was brutally beaten to death with a frying pan at a birthday party, prosecutors said Wednesday. The victim, Cary "Mike" Silverstein, was reported missing in December when he missed two meetings and failed to speak with his sister, whom he usually talked to daily, Assistant State's Attorney Brian Whang said during a bond hearing Wednesday. Three additional accomplices were charged Wednesday, according to police. These include Shatrara Lehman, 25, Alexander Robinson, 28, and a juvenile male. (Black) Jazz legend Cecil Taylor wants (black) scam artist to ‘die’ Jazz giant Cecil Taylor — who played with John Coltrane and serenaded Jimmy Carter on the White House lawn in 1979 — wants the Long Island man who allegedly ripped off his $500,000 international prize to pay the ultimate price. The 86-year-old pianist didn’t mince words when asked what he thought should happen to his accused swindler, Noel Muir, after a court appearance Wednesday. “Die,” the music legend said as he steadied himself on his cane. Taylor met Muir through a mutual friend, and trusted the man to accompany him on his trip to Japan to receive the Kyoto Prize, a prestigious medal and cash award, in 2013. Instead, Muir allegedly instructed the Kyoto group to deposit the prize money into his own bank account. |
