Judge: Teen's 'horror show' life no excuse for pipe attack on Syracuse newcomer Syracuse, NY -- A 24-year-old man from Oregon arrived in Syracuse last winter ready to start his career. But within two days in Syracuse, he was randomly attacked by two 17-year-olds who took advantage of him walking around with his phone and a map. He was pummeled with a pipe and the teens took his cell phone. The victim had just left the downtown YMCA, where he was considering a gym membership, prosecutor Cindi Newtown said. The victim was so terrified he left Syracuse without even emptying his fridge, County Court Judge Thomas J. Miller said today. Both teens - Kuamel Perry and Deandre Brady - have been punished, but their records will be sealed as part of a youthful offender plea deal. That means that while their arrests and court cases were public, their names will now be shielded and their convictions will be hidden. |

Jessica Chambers Update: Last Words Of Mississippi Girl Burned Alilve Named Her Killer As 'Eric' Or 'Derrick'? In the latest update for the Jessica Chambers case, authorities are saying they may know identity of the person(s) she was with before the Mississippi girl was burned alive near the end of 2014. The last words of Chambers may also provide a clue to the identity of the killer, but investigators say they are close to putting together a full picture of the “mystery hour,” which preceded her death. Jessica’s father, Ben Chambers, also believes that Mississippi police already know the identity of the murderer, but they are looking for more “key evidence” in order to build a solid case before making any arrests. In a related report by The Inquisitr, the FBI and local police have started arresting black Mississippi gang members as part of “Operation Bite Back,” but so far, none of the arrested suspects are facing murder charges since none of them are believed to be connected to Chambers’ death. Part of the reason police suspect that a gang member may be involved is due to reports that Jessica “spurned a relationship invitation by a black gang member” shortly before her death. - (Burned Alive!) - (Black-on-white) |

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, who personally handled the arraignments, says there are text messages and eye witness testimony that also link the men to the case. The D.A. also spoke of a possible motive for the murder saying it could have been retaliation for the stabbing death of Taunton teen Tigan Hollinsworth a few weeks earlier. He added the shooting appears to be a case of mistaken identity because the victim, Dugan, had no known connection to the Hollinsworth murder. "There does not appear to be a connection between the victim and these two defendants, but things have to play out in court with respect to those issues,” Quinn told reporters outside court. Captain John Rearden was an officer on scene the night of July 7th. He never gave up trying to find answers for Dugan’s loved ones. “They gave me a picture of Joey and every day I saw that picture of Joey and this is emotional for me. I'm so happy,” he said. Several other people have charged in the case for misleading police. Bates and Rhoden were both held without bail during their arraignments and are due back in court in January. - (Black-on-white) |
