Two (black) juveniles captured after beating (White) guard, escaping HOUSTON – Two of the three teens who escaped from the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center Sunday have been captured. Alferis Coby and Deionthay Harper, both 16, were caught by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force. "They wasn't doing their job," Harper said when asked how they escaped. He said it was a mistake and he won't do it again. Jahrell West, also 16, is still on the run and he's considered dangerous. Authorities were especially concerned about Coby. They say he has a lack of empathy, is extremely aggressive and is considered to be a high risk for psychopathic behavior. Coby was charged with capital murder for allegedly killing a man at a Midtown nightclub earlier this year. Meanwhile, the guard who was beaten by the 16-year-old ringleader Sunday said he remembers little about the attack – other than the pain. Coby beat 61-year-old Tom Keneaster unconscious and used the guard's keys to free the other two inmates. Keneaster said he's been dealing with aggressive kids since the Harris County juvenile detention facility opened about 10 years ago in downtown Houston. But nothing like what happened Sunday. "I had a tooth knocked out and a little bit of fracture in the face," Keneaster said. - (Black-on-white) |

Black man set to die for burning alive his daughter and two other step-daughters - one of which he raped A district judge has set an execution date for an East Texas man who was sentenced to death for starting a house fire that killed three children in Madison County almost 15 years ago. Raphael Deon Holiday, 35, is scheduled to die by lethal injection on Nov. 18 at the Huntsville "Walls" Unit for the murders of his 18-month-old daughter Justice and step-daughters Tierra Lynch, 7, and Jasmine DuPaul, 5. Murder-suicide rocks neighborhood - black boyfriend shoots white woman, her father and their 2 biracial babies JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Police said there are five victims, including children, in a murder-suicide Friday afternoon on Shirley Oaks Drive, off New Berlin Road, in Oceanway. Four people were confirmed dead, including the gunman, and one is in critical condition at UF Health Jacksonville. Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Director Mike Bruno said police got a call of shots fired just before 4 p.m. and arrived to find five victims with gunshot wounds throughout the house. Four were dead at the scene and the fifth last reported in surgery. "At this time, we haven't made next-of-kin notification, so we're not identifying any of our victims," Bruno said. "It appears this maybe spawned from a domestic issue where someone was moving out of the house or something to that effect. It's stemming from some type of domestic issue." Neighbors said a Navy family had moved into the home recently and that the man responsible for the shooting was 25-year-old Gawain Wilson (pictured), though police have not said that he was the shooter. One source told News4Jax that a woman was with a friend in the process of moving from the house when the shooting started. A vehicle can be seen in the driveway with belongings in boxes loaded inside. - (Black-on-white) |
