DNA leads to arrest (of black) in 1986 Marietta double rape, murder (of a White woman and her 13-year-old daughter) MARIETTA, Ga. -- Authorities in Cobb County say a man has been arrested in the 1986 double rape and murder of a Marietta woman and her 13-year-old daughter. Sharon Brady and her daughter Samantha Brady were found dead in their Marietta apartment on Sept. 12, 1986. Brady's 3-year-old daughter was also in the apartment but unharmed. The case went unsolved for nearly three decades after all leads were exhausted, investigators said. In 2013 samples were submitted to a private lab in Salt Lake City for advanced forensic DNA testing. That testing led to the arrest of 60-year-old man who lived in the same apartment complex as the Bradys in 1986, Ronald Lee Kyles. Police say he got into the apartment through a bedroom window and committed the crimes. He's charged with two counts of murder, two counts of rape, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of burglary in connection with the Brady murders. Former Marietta Police Detective Wayne Kennedy said Kyles was a suspect back in 1986 -- he was arrested two weeks later on a different charge -- but investigators didn't have evidence to make the case for murder. - (Black-on-white) |

Ben Carson’s troubled effort to prove that he was, in fact, a juvenile delinquent Well, this is a new one. We’re accustomed to the media probing a politician’s past, reporting on some skeletons in the closet, then bracing for the almost inevitable response that the press accounts are erroneous, biased or completely fabricated. But in the case of Ben Carson vs. CNN, we have a media outlet saying, “Maybe he really wasn’t such a bad guy” and a presidential candidate saying, “Oh yes I was!” In this alternate universe, Carson — at or near the top of many Republican primary polls — is defending (if you can even call it that) his assertion that he used to be the kind of dirtbag who tried to stab a high school friend, attacked his own mother with a hammer and committed various other violent acts. |

Fight over Confederate Flag decal could be investigated as (black-on-White) hate crime, police say A fight outside a Salt Lake City hotel early Sunday morning could possibly be investigated as a hate crime, authorities said Monday. Cell phone video captured a black man throw a punch at a Caucasian man who knocked him out. The fight was over an argument about a Confederate Flag decal on a truck parked at the Red Lion Hotel. The truck belonged to Kelly Leeper’s friend. Leeper was in town for the Garth Brooks concert. On Sunday, he said looked out the window of his room at the Red Lion and saw a group of black men near his friend’s truck. In the back of the truck, Leeper said there was $50,000 worth of welding equipment. There was also a Confederate Flag decal on the side. Leeper went to the parking lot with his friend and confronted the group. That’s when the fight turned violent. In one fast and powerful punch, Leeper’s friend was knocked out. A scuffle ensued and Leeper was taken down by a group of six men. "I'll be damned if I ever come to Salt Lake again without bringing my gun," Leeper said. - (Black-on-white) |

But after a professional evaluation of the teenager Essex County Superior Court Judge David Lowy ruled that Chism had "sufficient present ability" to stand trial. Chism faces charges of raping and murdering Colleen Ritzer, who had been a popular 24-year-old math teacher at his high school in 2013 in Danvers, Massachusetts, a town of 26,000 people about 20 miles north of Boston. - (Black-on-white) |

FBI investigated Wu-Tang rappers in murders of drug dealers The FBI investigated whether two founders of the old-school New York rap group Wu-Tang Clan had links to the 1999 murders of two Staten Island drug dealers who had robbed their relatives, according to a Brooklyn federal court filing. The revelations stem from the convictions of former drug kingpins Anthony and Harvey Christian, who were found guilty last year of lording over a 20-year drug empire based on Staten Island and ordering the slaying of Jerome “Boo Boo” Estella in 1999. The siblings are awaiting sentencing. Their attorney, Michael Gold, has demanded that prosecutors spill all details surrounding the death of Estella — including an informant’s allegation that Staten Island-native Wu-Tang founders RZA (real name Robert Fitzgerald) and Raekwon (real name Corey Woods) may have had a hand in his bloody demise and that of another dealer. They were never charged in either murder. |

Investigation: Sexting Possibly Linked To Deadly Caltrans Crash LOS ANGELES - a Caltrans employee who was involved in a deadly crash is back behind the wheel. But two years ago, the employee was involved in a fatal crash that occurred just after he received a sexually suggestive text from his girlfriend. Despite efforts to find out what the text said Caltrans tried to stop him from reporting it, and driver Dino Morris didn’t want to talk about it. The four-vehicle collision in October 2013 involving a Caltrans sweeper driven by Morris caused a chain reaction accident on the 710 Freeway, killing Rogelio Torres after his car was crushed by the 20,000-pound sweeper as it traveled more than 40 mph. Fullerton resident Cheryl Durbin flipped over in the next car, her Toyota Camry ending up upside-down. “It was the strongest impact I’ve ever felt in a car,” she said. “It was unstoppable.” Durbin ultimately had to be cut out of her vehicle with the Jaws of Life. Durbin and the Torres family have sued Caltrans. Their cases are pending. CHP investigators say Morris never braked before impact. Attorneys claim text messages may have distracted him. The string of texts start with Morris’ girlfriend saying, “We will be having sex all day” and follows with “sex, sex, sex.” Morris was eventually fired from his job at Caltrans Long Beach but only after the DMV suspended his license for six months because of the accident. But when the suspension was up, Morris was back on the streets. Durbin is walking and had to have a spinal fusion nine months ago. She still feels the effects of the crash and finds it hard to believe Morris got off scot-free. - (Black-on-white) |

Officers who shot, killed (suicidal criminal black person) Kajieme Powell will not be charged The two St. Louis police officers who shot and killed Kajieme Powell outside a north city convenience store will not be charged with a crime, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office said Tuesday. The circuit attorney’s office concluded the two officers were justified in their use of deadly force in the August 19, 2014 shooting. Powell’s death occurred just 10 days following the Michael Brown shooting. St. Louis police were responding to a shoplifting. Two witnesses called 911 after Powell stole two energy drinks and another item from the store and allegedly threatened a store clerk. Those same witnesses informed the dispatcher that Powell was armed with a knife. When the two officers arrived at the scene, they immediately displayed their guns and ordered Powell to drop his knife. Powell refused and began moving toward them. He kept approaching police and, witnessed said, demanded the officers shoot him. The two officers eventually opened fire, six times each. Powell, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene. - ("suicide by cop") - Ref: Kajieme Powell in the news |
