(Black) Jesse Matthew gets three life sentences for 2005 rape and attempted murder of (White) Fairfax woman FAIRFAX, Va. — Jesse Matthew Jr., currently facing two murder trials, was sentenced for the rape and attempted murder of a Fairfax woman over a decade ago. Matthew entered an Alford plea on June 10 for the September 2005 abduction, sexual assault and attempted murder of the victim identified as “RG” in Fairfax. With that plea he did not admit to a criminal act, but acknowledged that prosecutors had enough evidence to win a conviction. However, the plea came as a surprise to many. It was a way to maintain innocence, but for all intent and purpose, there is no distinction when it comes to sentencing and his appellate rights are waived as well. On Friday, as the parents of the alleged victims in Matthew’s two murder cases sat in the front row, Fairfax Circuit Judge David Schell sentenced Matthew to the maximum sentence of three life sentences. Matthew faces a capital murder charge for the death of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham, 18, who went missing in September 2014, after a night out with friends. He faces the death penalty when he goes on trial for that case in July 2016. Graham’s remains were found in October, approximately five miles from where the remains of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington were found, in January 2010. Matthew was also recently charged with Harrington’s murder. His trial for that case is scheduled for October 24, 2016. The DNA collected in connection with Harrington’s death matched DNA evidence from the 2005 case for which he was sentenced Friday. - (Black-on-white) |

(Cowardly criminal black) Handyman charged with killing 71-year-old (White) woman in 2013 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man previously charged with pawning jewelry stolen from a murdered 71-year-old woman has now been charged with her killing, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced Thursday. Marvin Jones, 50, is charged with murder, burglary, dealing in stolen property and grand theft, Lt. Steve Gallaher said. He said it appears that Marilyn Alu was killed when Jones attempted to steal her jewelry. She was found strangled in her East Arlington home on Swimming Salmon Place North on Sept. 8, 2013. Gallaher said evidence shows that Alu's killer entered her home through an unlocked sliding glass door in the back of the home. Alu had hired a company Jones worked for to do some home improvements around her house, but Jones offered to do the jobs cheaper on the side, Gallaher said. He said detectives quickly focused their efforts on Jones in the murder and learned that he had a girlfriend named Constance Messina, who pawned jewelry belonging to Alu on Sept. 9, 2013. Jones also pawned Alu's jewelry that day, detectives said. The couple left Jacksonville for Clewiston, Florida, soon afterward, and when detectives searched a room in which the couple had stayed in Clewiston, they found some of Alu's jewelry in a bag, Gallaher said. - (Black-on-white) |

(Heartless black) Fero's Bar killer Dexter Lewis, spared the death penalty, sentenced 5 life terms plus 180 years DENVER - Dexter Lewis, the killer convicted of stabbing 5 people to death in Fero's Bar during 2012, was sentenced to five life sentences plus another 180 years on Wednesday. Lewis was convicted on Aug. 10 of five counts of first degree murder after deliberation, five counts of felony murder, five county of attempted robbery and an arson charge. However, the jury decided that aggravating factors, including an abusive childhood, were significant enough that he should not face the death penalty. Because Lewis was found guilty in a death penalty case, Colorado law dictated that Lewis be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on the counts of murder. The judge sentenced him to five life sentences, to be served consecutively, for the murders. The judge gave Lewis an additional 180 years on the other charges. That was the maximum sentenced allowed. This was the second case of the summer where a jury was unable or unwilling to reach the required unanimous decision that would sentence a killer to die. Prosecutors said Lewis led a four-man robbery crew at Fero's Bar and Grill. He killed the bar's owner and four customers. The robbery netted a measly total of $170. Two of the men at the robbery testified that Lewis, 25, went down a line stabbing his victims while they were held at gunpoint. "He simply went down the line, not caring about them, not showing any of them any mercy," prosecutor Matt Wenig told jurors when they began considering execution for Lewis. The bar was set ablaze before the men fled. Killed in the robbery were the bar's owner, Young Suk Fero, 53, and four customers - Daria M. Pohl, 21, of Denver; Kellene Fallon, 44, of Denver; Ross Richter, 29, of Overland Park, Kansas; and Tereasa Beesley, 45, of Denver. - (Black-on-white) |

Off-duty (White) Army captain beaten senseless by 6 (black) men outside Kansas City restaurant Kansas City, MO – An active member of the U.S. Army was viciously beaten by a pack of six young men outside a Country Club Plaza area restaurant, and Kansas City police haven’t made any arrests. The investigation was hampered because the dining establishment, Zocaola Mexican restaurant, didn’t have any working security cameras, according to Kansas City police. The 37-year-old Army caption suffered a significant loss of blood after he suffered numerous broken bones in his face, possible optic nerve damage to one of his eyes and a skull fracture. The man’s injuries were serious, according to a Kansas City police report. The man was off duty and not in uniform when he was beaten. He was hospitalized for more than a week, but by Monday was back at Fort Leavenworth where he is getting additional treatment.... The injured man accidentally bumped into another man inside the restaurant. The man bumped tried to start a fight, and restaurant management kicked him out. About 12:10 a.m. Sept. 19, the soldier walked out of the restaurant and the man he bumped and a gang of his buddies were waiting for him because they were “looking for a fight.” A witness said the suspect sucker punched the soldier. The gang then began to punch and kick the prone man. Friends of the soldier heard the fight and tried to rush to his aid. Two of them were kicked and punched, which required paramedics to treat them at the scene. A fellow Army captain who rushed to help his friend was punched in the face with a closed fist. A second man suffered a bloody nose and mouth. As police were called, the hoodlums jumped in a white vehicle and raced from the scene. One of the men possibly with the primary aggressor had an open tab at the bar and had left his debit card behind. Police have that person’s name, but that still hasn’t led to any arrests. Police are trying to determine if the man actually knew the suspects. “It should be noted that all the involved parties were heavily intoxicated.” The brutal attack has stirred outrage on social media in part because the victim and his friends are white while the attackers were young black men in their mid to late 20s. The police report did not provide any additional details on the soldier and his friends. - (Black-on-white) |

At that point, Lee was knocked to the ground, hit in the head and stabbed, he said. The suspects continued to beat and kick him even as he lay motionless. The suspects finally dispersed when a car pulled up to the scene. |
Police: (Black) Man arrested after Twitter post saying 'KILL ALL THE WHITE PPL' LA PLATA, Md. - Police have charged a man after they say he used social media to make a threat of violence against an entire Maryland town. The message was uncovered Wednesday afternoon when La Plata Police were alerted to a post on Twitter that read, “IM NOT GONNA STAND FOR THIS NO. MORE. TONIGHT WE PURGE! KILL ALL THE WHITE PPL IN THE TOWN OF LA PLATA.” That tweet sparked a massive police effort and the man accused of sending the tweet was tracked down and arrested. So many people were frightened after this tweet was sent out that local law enforcement not only went after the man who posted it, but the chief of police in La Plata also called some officer in early and kept other officers to work overtime. The chief wanted to make sure there was high visibility of officers in the area to calm fears. Officials arrested 20-year-old Carlos Anthony Hollins near his Waldorf home Wednesday night. The police chief said when investigators were interviewing Hollins, he told them that the tweet was just a joke. - (Black-on-white) |

Police: DNA from (black) suspect in (white woman's) kidnapping, homicide matches earlier rape DNA from the man charged in the July homicide of Renee Eldridge matches evidence from her reported rape in Columbus in December 2014, though Eldridge accused another man in that case, testimony revealed Tuesday in Chambers County, Ala. Murder suspect Stacey Gray’s DNA cleared the suspect initially charged with raping Eldridge in her Columbus home, and Gray now is being charged with that sexual assault. Gray was in prison in Ohio from 1994 until 2003, having been convicted of assaulting two police officers. Authorities said they did not know why Eldridge would accuse someone else, as Gray was well known to her and her family. Tucker said Gray had an “on-and-off” sexual relationship with Eldridge’s mother, Nancy Gray, and that Stacey Gray had his own key to her home. Though they share the same last name, Nancy Gray and Stacey Gray are not related, Tucker said. Eldridge’s body was found bound and weighted down in a creek in Chambers County on July 7. She died of blunt-force trauma to the right side of her head. The 25-year-old’s body was face down in the water, her hands and ankles bound with green rope tied to a cement block, Tucker said. At least one knot used in the rope was a “running bowline” commonly used by tree service workers, he said. Detectives began retracing Eldridge’s activities the night she disappeared. She and her mother had met friends at a Columbus bar, where Stacey Gray came in and began flirting with Eldridge, stroking her hair and otherwise getting “touchy-feely.” (more details of the evidence...) - (Black-on-white) |
