Jones was a 2001 Southside graduate who moved to Fayetteville to be closer to his parents. Rice had just moved to Fayetteville, and most recently had worked at the Electric Cowboy in Fort Smith. She attended Greenwood schools as well as Southside. Decay was an evacuee from New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Black career criminal gets life for 3 killings in 1980s LOS ANGELES: As Audrey Nelson clawed for her life while being beaten and strangled 25 years ago, she grasped something that finally brought justice for her family Thursday and helped send a serial killer to prison. DNA found under Nelson's fingernails eventually led to Samuel Little, who was sentenced to three consecutive terms of life in prison for the murder of Nelson and two other women during the crack cocaine scourge, when several serial killers preyed on drug users and prostitutes in South Los Angeles. Over the years, Little built a lengthy rap sheet across the country and is also being eyed in dozens of other killings nationwide. Sherri Ann Nelson said after sentencing that she took some comfort knowing that her sister, who had survived horrific burns in a New York City apartment fire years before her death, had grabbed a key piece of evidence during her final struggle. Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman said Little is likely responsible for at least 40 killings nationwide since 1980. - (Black-on-white) |

Slaying of Domino's driver, Uptown carjacking committed by same 3 (black) teens, police testify Three teenage boys are accused of participating in the murder of a pizza deliveryman in Mid-City this week, a New Orleans police detective testified Friday, and the mother of one said she fears her son faces a possible life sentence because of his poor choice of friends. The case against the two teens in custody - Shane Hughes and Rendell Brown, both 16 - moved forward Friday when a juvenile court judge found there was enough evidence to jail them on charges of first-degree murder. The judge also agreed to send the case to Criminal District Court, where prosecutors will try them as adults in the slaying of Domino's Pizza driver Richard "Chris" Yeager. A third teen - Brown's younger brother Rejean, who is either 15 or 14 - also is wanted by police. NOPD homicide Detective Wayne DeLarge testified he eluded police when his brother and Hughes were arrested Monday night. - (Black-on-white) |

Family turns to Huntsville City Hall for answers, justice in savage (black-on-White) beating death of homeless man Family and friends of a homeless man who died after being savagely beaten outside a University Drive convenience store are turning to Huntsville City Hall for answers. During Thursday night's Huntsville City Council meeting, Help Our Homeless Veterans & Citizens founder Rusty Loiselle said Mark Pridmore was repeatedly punched and stomped by a "group of thugs" on Sept. 4 after asking for 50 cents. (A pack of) 8 to 10 men joined the assault in the Mini Mart 2 parking lot across from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, said Loiselle. Pridmore, 40, slipped into a coma the next morning and later died at Huntsville Hospital. Police charged 18-year-old Behre Xavier Starling with manslaughter earlier this month, but the other men involved remain free. "Hate crimes like this cannot go unpunished," said Loiselle. "When will Mark Scott Pridmore get true justice?" Loiselle and other homeless advocates said they feel Huntsville police haven't taken the case seriously enough because Pridmore was homeless. - (Black-on-white) |
