Knockout: Police warn of multiple, random attacks in downtown Denver early New Year's Day by black males DENVER - Police are warning the public after three separate, random attacks occurred within 45 minutes in downtown Denver early New Year's Day. Nobody said anything to me." Lloyd said he was waiting for a ride with a friend near 20th and Market streets when they were both punched in the face. The blow fractured his face in several places and broke his jaw on both sides. "Basically my whole cheek is caved in," he said, pointing to his swollen and bruised face. The assaults happened at 20th and Larimer streets, 20th and Market streets and in the 1600 block of Blake Street. "All we have is assaults by black males, so we need more details. That's why we're asking for the community's help," said Denver Police Department Sonny Jackson. - (Black-on-white) |

Tallahassee-resident Katie Schlinger told her traumatic story - revealing details about the night she offered to drive a stranger to the hospital before 'he physically and sexually attacked her'. Ms Schlinger says she fought back and escaped with her life, but two spinal surgeries later, she still can't use her right arm or walk on her own. She was smoking a cigarette in the car at the nearby Quality Inn around 4am when she was approached by 23-year-old Michael Antwon Fuller who asked her for a cigarette and the two started talking about their relatives in the hospital. Fuller told her he was worried about his uncle at the hospital and wondered if she wouldn’t mind driving him up there so he could see him. ‘Yeah I’ll give you a ride if you promise not to hurt me,’ she joked, agreeing to drive him since the hospital was only four minutes away and Fuller was clean cut, well-spoken and well dressed... he allegedly hit her face with the mouth of his gun... Outside of the car, she says he pointed his gun at her and forced her to perform oral sex. - (Black-on-white) |

Indiana appeals court upholds man's murder conviction MUNCIE, Ind. — The Indiana Court of Appeals has upheld the convictions of a man who's serving a 65-year sentence for killing a woman whose body was set on fire. A Delaware Circuit Court jury convicted 26-year-old Terry D. Rutledge last year of murder and obstruction of justice in the slaying of 40-year-old Tonia Ingram, whose body was set on fire along a Muncie street. The Star Press reports the appeals court rejected the Muncie man's contention that the judge who heard his case failed to give jurors appropriate instructions before they deliberated. Rutledge also argued the judge should not have allowed the jury to hear testimony about text messages Rutledge allegedly sent immediately after Ingram's death. The court found that there's "a reasonable probability" Rutledge sent those text messages. |
(Black) Connecticut psycho, posing as good Samaritan, rapes and murders college student days before Christmas in 1989 While Christmas shopping on Dec. 16, 1989, Julia Ashe lugged an armload of bags out of Bradlees in Waterbury, Conn., and discovered she had a flat tire. Miraculously, a man appeared and offered to help. But he was no good Samaritan. He was shopping too, in a sense. For two days, he had been lurking in his own car in that lot, waiting for lone women shoppers to arrive. Twice, he used a valve stem remover to deflate a tire on the car of likely victims, then offered to change the flats when they returned from shopping. The first two potential targets declined his help. His third target, Ashe, a 22-year-old University of Connecticut student, did not. Who could blame her? It was 18 degrees. As he slapped on Ashe’s spare tire, the man said his own car had broken down and asked for a lift to a gas station. She agreed. But once in the car, the man directed Ashe to drive to a wooded pull-off barely a mile from the store, beside a dam on City Mills Pond. Though well-concealed, the spot is a stone’s throw from busy I-84. As traffic whizzed by, he ordered Ashe into the back seat. He rifled her pocketbook, taking $300, and then raped her. But the horror was just beginning.... Meanwhile, detectives in the Waterbury area were closing in on a serial sex fiend. Sedrick Cobb, 27, of nearby Naugatuck, had been arrested that June in an attempted rape in his hometown. While that case was pending and Cobb was free, he became a suspect in two more sex assaults... - (Black-on-white) |
